In this article, we present a novel approach to tool condition monitoring in the chipboard milling process using machine learning algorithms. The presented study aims to address the challenges of detecting tool wear and predicting tool failure in real time, which can significantly improve the efficiency and productivity of the manufacturing process. A combination of feature engineering and machine learning techniques was applied in order to analyze 11 signals generated during the milling process. The presented approach achieved high accuracy in detecting tool wear and predicting tool failure, outperforming traditional methods. The final findings demonstrate the potential of machine learning algorithms in improving tool condition monitoring in the manufacturing industry. This study contributes to the growing body of research on the application of artificial intelligence in industrial processes. In conclusion, the presented research highlights the importance of adopting innovative approaches to address the challenges of tool condition monitoring in the manufacturing industry. The final results provide valuable insights for practitioners and researchers in the field of industrial automation and machine learning.

Hintergrund: Acne inversa (AI) ist eine chronisch-entzündliche Hauterkrankung, die durch schmerzhafte, eitrige Entzündungen in den intertriginösen Arealen wie inguinal, axillär und perianal gekennzeichnet ist. Die Forschungsergebnisse der letzten Jahre zeigen, dass andere chronisch- entzündliche Hauterkrankungen, wie beispielsweise die Psoriasis vulgaris das Sexualleben beeinflussen und häufiger mit Depressionen und dem metabolischen Syndrom assoziiert sind. Ziel: Obwohl AI circa 1-4 % der Bevölkerung betrifft, fehlten bislang fundierte Daten hinsichtlich dieser Zusammenhänge. Ziel der Arbeit war es daher zu untersuchen, ob AI-Patienten im Vergleich zu Kontrollprobanden Einschränkungen im Sexualleben und eine höhere Prävalenz von Depressivität und dem metabolischen Syndrom aufweisen. Methodik: Validierte Fragebögen (Female Sexual Function Index [FSFI], International Index of Erectile Funktion [IIEF], Frankfurterkörperkonzeptskala zur Sexualität [FKKS- SSEX] und Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale [HADS]) wurden zur Erfassung des Sexuallebens und dem Vorkommen von depressiver Symptomatik bei AI- Patienten und einer Kontrollgruppe verwendet. In einer weiteren Studie wurden die Kriterien des metabolischen Syndroms bei AI-Patienten und entsprechenden Kontrollprobanden gemessen. Ergebnisse: AI-Patienten (n=44) unterschieden sich von der Kontrollgruppe signifikant durch eine Beeinträchtigung des Sexuallebens (FSFI: P = 0,01; IIEF: P = 0,01; FKKS-SSEX: P < 0,001). Besonders hervorzuheben ist, dass Frauen mit AI im Vergleich zu Männern mit AI eine signifikant stärkere Einschränkung des Sexuallebens zeigten (FKKS-SSEX: P = 0,02). 38,6 % der AI-Patienten erfüllten die Kriterien einer depressiven Symptomatik, während dies nur bei 2,4 % der Kontrollen zutraf (HADS: P < 0,001). Darüber hinaus wurde bei Patienten mit AI (n=80) eine signifikant höhere Rate des metabolischen Syndroms als bei der Kontrollgruppe festgestellt (n=100) (40 % vs. 13 %; P < 0.001). Fazit: AI führt zu deutlichen Einschränkungen des Sexuallebens und ist mit dem Auftreten von Depressionen assoziiert. Eine psychologische Grundversorgung sollte deshalb bei Patienten mit AI erwogen werden. Außerdem ist eine regelmäßige Ausschlussdiagnostik und Aufklärung der Patienten hinsichtlich des metabolischen Syndroms und der einhergehenden kardiovaskulären Risikofaktoren zu empfehlen., Background: Acne inversa (AI) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease, which leads to painful purulent inflammation in the intertriginous areas such as the inguinal, axillary and perianal regions. Research in recent years has shown that other chronic inflammatory skin diseases like psoriasis vulgaris negatively affect the sexual life of respective patients and are associated with depression and the metabolic syndrome. Objectives: Although AI affects approximately 1-4 % of the population, solid data regarding this context is still limited. The main study aims were to examine the sexual life, the prevalence of depressive states and the metabolic syndrome in AI patients compared to matched controls. Methods: Validated questionnaires (Female Sexual Function Index [FSFI], International Index of Erectile Function [IIEF], Frankfurt Body Concept Scale for Sexuality [FKKS- SSEX] and Hospital Anxiety and Depression [HADS]) were used to investigate sexual health and the occurrence of depressive states in AI patients and matched controls. In a further study, clinical parameters of the metabolic syndrome were measured in AI patients and matched controls. Results: AI patients (n=44) significantly differed from the control group (n=41) by the impairment of their sexual life (FSFI: P = 0.01; IIEF: P = 0.01, FKKS-SSEX: P < 0.001). Especially women with AI had a significantly greater restriction of sexual life (FKKS-SSEX: P = 0.02) compared to men with AI. 38.6 % of AI patients met the criteria for depressiveness, compared to only 2.4 % of control subjects (HADS: P < 0.001). Moreover, AI patients (n=80) had a significantly higher rate of the metabolic syndrome than the control group (n=100) (40 % vs. 13 %; P < 0.001). Conclusion: AI leads to a significant impairment of sexual life and is frequently associated with depression. Therefore, psychological support should be offered to patients with AI. Additionally, AI patients should be educated regarding the risk of the metabolic syndrome and the accompanying cardiovascular diseases and appropriate diagnostic tests should be carried out.
