Background/aim: We aimed to construct a validated nomogram model for predicting short-term (28-day) ischemic stroke mortality among critically ill populations. Materials and methods: We collected raw data from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV database, a comprehensive repository renowned for its depth and breadth in critical care information. Subsequently, a rigorous analytical framework was employed, incorporating a 10-fold cross-validation procedure to ensure robustness and reliability. Leveraging advanced statistical methodologies, specifically the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression, variables pertinent to 28-day mortality in ischemic stroke were meticulously screened. Next, binary logistic regression was utilized to establish nomogram, then applied concordance index to evaluate discrimination of the prediction models. Predictive performance of the nomogram was assessed by integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) and net reclassification index (NRI). Additionally, we generated calibration curves to assess calibrating ability. Finally, we evaluated the nomogram's net clinical benefit using decision curve analysis (DCA), in comparison with scoring systems clinically applied under common conditions. Results: A total of 2089 individuals were identified and assigned into training (n = 1443) or validation (n = 646) cohorts. Various identified risk factors, including age, ethnicity, marital status, underlying metastatic solid tumor, Charlson comorbidity index, heart rate, Glasgow coma scale, glucose concentrations, white blood cells, sodium concentrations, potassium concentrations, mechanical ventilation, use of heparin and mannitol, were associated with short-term (28-day) mortality in ischemic stroke individuals. A concordance index of 0.834 was obtained in the training dataset, indicating that our nomogram had good discriminating ability. Results of IDI and NRI in both cohorts proved that our nomogram had positive improvement of predictive performance, compared to other scoring systems. The actual and predicted incidence of mortality showed favorable concordance on calibration curves (P > 0.05). DCA curves revealed that, compared with scoring systems clinically used under common conditions, the constructed nomogram yielded a greater net clinical benefit. Conclusions: Utilizing a comprehensive array of fourteen readily accessible variables, a prognostic nomogram was meticulously formulated and rigorously validated to provide precise prognostication of short-term mortality within the ischemic stroke cohort. In this paper, the Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) mode superposition is obtained by using the technology of double-end off-axis pumping Tm:YLF crystal, and the LG mode superposition is achieved by combining the extra-cavity conversion method. The impact of changing the off-axis distance on the order of Hermite–Gaussian (HG) mode and the topological charge of LG mode is studied. The results show that when the off-axis distance of the pump source at both ends is tuned, when the off-axis distance is in the range of 260 μm~845 μm, the single-ended 0~10 order HG mode can be obtained. Subsequently, the mode converter is placed to obtain the LG mode beam, and the double-end simultaneously pumps the crystal to obtain the superimposed LG mode. The tuning off-axis quantity changes the topological charge number. When P = 0, l 1 = l 2 , the superimposed LG mode is a single-ring spot, and the vortex beam center's dark hollow area increases with the topological charge number. When P = 0, l 1 = − l 2 , the superimposed LG mode is a petal-like spot. The number of petals differs from the topological charges of two opposite numbers. Finally, in the case of changing the topological charge number of the double-ended LG mode, the output of the vortex array structured beams of the tuning mode order 1.9 μm Tm:YLF is completed in the case of conversion and superposition. Using first principles calculations based on the density functional theory and the structural, electronic, and optical properties of the substitution of K elements by Li+, Na+, Mg2+, and Ca2+ in KH2PO4 (KDP) crystals are investigated in depth. This study provides insight into the structural properties of crystals, with particular emphasis on internal chemical bonding effects. It further discusses the impact of H and O defects on the bandgap and optical properties of KDP crystals. Detailed analysis of structural characteristics and comprehensive examination of the effects of chemical bonds contribute to a deeper understanding of the effects of defects on the lattice and electronic structure, revealing potential alterations and their underlying mechanisms. Our investigation focuses on the regulatory role of different defects on the bandgap and optical properties. These comprehensive analyses provide a more thorough understanding of the impact of defects on the properties of KDP crystals, establishing an essential research foundation for further exploration of nonlinear optics crystal potential applications. Laser paint removal is a new cleaning technology that mainly removes paint through thermal ablation and mechanical stripping mechanisms. This paper established a thermal-mechanical coupling laser removal model of paint based on the heat conduction equation, Newton's second law, and Fabbro's theory. The removal process of epoxy resin paint film on an aluminum alloy surface via a nanosecond pulsed laser was studied using finite element simulations and experimental measurements. The simulation and experimental results show that the nanosecond pulse laser's primary paint removal mechanism is the mechanical stripping caused by thermal stress and plasma shock. The laser paint removal threshold is 1.4 J/cm2. In addition, due to the different generation times of plasma shock and thermal stress, the mutual superposition of stress waves occurs in the material. This results in a discrepancy between the actual and thermal stress differences. Moreover, the thermal stress difference causes the maximum actual stress difference to fluctuate. The variation of shock-wave velocity with time induced by a millisecond-nanosecond combined pulse laser (CPL) on silicon is investigated. The convolution neural network (CNN) is used to predict the shock-wave velocity induced by a single ns laser and CPL with a ns laser energy density of 6, 12 and 24 J/cm2, ms laser energy density of 0 and 226.13 J/cm2, and pulse delay of 0, 0.4 and 0.8 ms. The four-layer CNN model was applied, ns laser energy density, ms laser energy density, pulse delay and time were set as the input parameter, while the shock-wave velocity was set as the output parameter. The correlation coefficient (R2), mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean square error (RMSE) of the CNN model on the test data set was 0.9865, 3.54 and 3.01, respectively. This indicated that the CNN model shows a high reliability in the prediction of CPL-induced shock-wave velocity with limited experimental data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We create a rate equation theoretical model of a continuous-wave end-pumped Pr3+:YLF SLM laser that characterizes the output properties of a single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) green laser. After inserting two Fabry–Perot (F–P) etalons with thicknesses of 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm and angles of 1.42° and 0.69° into the cavity, a single-longitudinal-mode green laser was generated. The maximum output power in single-longitudinal mode was 183 mW. The maximum absorbed pump power was 6.2 W. The corresponding linewidth is about 18 MHz. This work presents a simple method for generating a single-longitudinal-mode laser in the green spectral region, providing a practical approach for various green-laser-related applications. This article describes a master oscillator and power amplifier (MOPA) system with a single longitudinal mode (SLM) and high-repetition-frequency Pr3+:YLF active medium that was end-pumped by two 444 nm laser diodes. The Pr3+:YLF MOPA laser system produced a maximum pulse energy of 13.5 μJ with a pulse width of 130.2 ns at a pulse repetition frequency of 20 kHz, translating to a peak power of around 103.7 W. The Pr3+:YLF MOPA laser system's output wavelength was 639.7 nm, and the line-width of its laser spectra was roughly 168 MHz. A continuous-wave 1.57 and 3.84 μm intracavity multiple optical parametric oscillator based on a single MgO:APLN crystal is reported for the first time. The synchronized dual-wavelength laser is obtained by using a folded-type double cavity, which consists of a 1064-nm resonator and a multiple optical parametric oscillator. With T = 10% at 1.47 and 3.3 μm output couplers, maximum output powers of 3.13 W at 1.57 μm and 0.85 W at 3.84 μm are obtained, corresponding to slope efficiencies of 6.8% and 1.9%, respectively. In this paper, a theoretical model for laser cleaning of aluminium alloy oxide film is presented from the perspective of thermal stress. Additionally, we developed a two-dimensional axisymmetric finite element model for calculation. Thermal stresses result from thermal expansion. Using thermodynamic equations, numerical calculations enable the determination of a theoretical cleaning threshold by comparing the thermal stresses to the adhesion between the oxide film and the substrate. Through theory and experiments, it is known that the greater the laser fluence, the better is the cleaning effect. The findings indicate that cleaning of the oxide film on aluminum alloys can be achieved under appropriate parameters. The cleaning threshold for laser cleaning of the oxide film is determined to be 3629.47 J / c m 2 (continuous laser fluence is 3628.73 J / c m 2 ; nanosecond laser fluence is 0.74 J / c m 2 ). The thermal stress model of laser cleaning is highly useful for selecting the appropriate laser flux in practical applications. Both a simulation and experimental results can provide an explanation for the mechanism of interaction between the laser and the aluminum alloy oxide film, demonstrating that thermal stress is one of the cleaning mechanisms during the laser cleaning process of the oxide film.

This paper establishes a new theoretical paint removal model of plasma shock based on Fabbro's model and Newton's second law. A two-dimensional axisymmetric finite element model is established to calculate the theoretical model. By comparing the theoretical and experimental results, it is found that the theoretical model can accurately predict the threshold of laser paint removal. It is indicated that plasma shock is an essential mechanism in laser paint removal. The threshold for laser paint removal is approximately 1.73 J / c m 2 . The experiments show that, with the increase of the laser fluence, the effect of laser paint removal first increases and then decreases. With the increase of the laser fluence, the paint removal effect is improved due to the increase of the paint removal mechanism. The competition between the plastic fracture and pyrolysis leads to a reduction in paint effectiveness. In summary, this study can provide a theoretical reference for studying the paint removal mechanism of plasma shock.
