BackgroundNurses’ competencies are crucial for infectious disease prevention and control. We aimed to investigate competencies in responding to infectious disease outbreaks of nurses in primary healthcare institutions and identify their training needs.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted from June to September 2022, recruiting nurses from primary healthcare institutions across Sichuan Province. Their competencies and training needs were assessed using a modified Emergency Response Competency Scale for Infectious Diseases. Additionally, their sociodemographic characteristics and experience in infectious disease outbreak trainings were collected. Univariate analyses were used to compare competencies and training needs by participant characteristics. Multiple linear regression was conducted to identify determinants of their competencies.ResultsA total of 1,439 nurses from 44 primary healthcare institutions participated in this study. The overall competency and training needs had a median of 3.6 (IQR [3.1, 4.0]) and 4.0 (IQR [3.9, 4.7]), respectively. Abstract Although acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent postoperative complication after liver transplantation, renal function following living‐related liver transplantation (LRLT) in infants remains understudied. The aim of this study was to identify the prevalence of AKI and the impact of AKI on outcomes in infant recipients with biliary atresia. We retrospectively reviewed infants who underwent LRLT surgery between January 2018 and January 2021. The primary outcome was the risk of postoperative AKI occurrence in the first 7 postoperative days. A multivariate regression analysis model was used to investigate risk factors for AKI, and the incidence and impacts of AKI on outcomes were analyzed. A total of 98 patients were included in the analysis. AKI occurred in 59 patients (60.2%) within 7 days after surgery. Logistic regression analysis revealed that preoperative transfusion (p < 0.05) and lower serum creatinine (SCr) (p < 0.05) were independent risk factors for AKI. The incidence of serious complications was significantly higher in the AKI group than in the non‐AKI group (p < 0.05). The postoperative mechanical ventilation time (p < 0.05) and hospital stay (p = 0.019) were significantly longer in the AKI group. There was no evidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in any surviving infants within 1 year after surgery. In conclusion, AKI is common in infant LRLT (60.2%), and preoperative transfusion and lower SCr levels were independently associated with AKI. AKI may be associated with the incidence of serious complications, prolonged use of ventilators, and hospital stays. No CKD occurred within 1 year.

Abstract Background To examine standardized uptake valuemax of the primary lesion (pSUVmax) and tumor markers (TMs) for clinically predicting distant metastasis in novo lung adenocarcinoma. Methods The current retrospective observational study examined individuals diagnosed with de novo lung adenocarcinoma at Shanxi Cancer Hospital between February 2015 and December 2019. Results Totally, 532 de novo lung adenocarcinoma cases were included. They were aged 60.8 ± 9.7 years and comprised 224 women and 268 patients with distant metastasis. The areas under the curves (AUCs) of pSUVmax, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin‐19 fragment (CYFRA21‐1), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), and Grade of TMs for predicting distant metastasis were 0.742, 0.601, 0.671, 0.700, 0.736, and 0.745, respectively. The combination of pSUVmax, LDH, CEA, CYFRA21‐1, CA125, and grade of TMs in predicting distant metastasis had an AUC value of 0.816 (95%CI: 0.781–0.851), with sensitivity of 89.2%, specificity of 58.7%, positive predictive value of 73.7%, and negative predictive value of 79.7%, respectively. Conclusions pSUVmax combined with serum levels of LDH, CEA, CYFRA21‐1, CA125, and the grade of TMs may have good performance in predicting distant metastasis of de novo lung adenocarcinoma.

Abstract The artificial photosynthesis technology has been recognized as a promising solution for CO2 utilization. Photothermal catalysis has been proposed as a novel strategy to promote the efficiency of artificial photosynthesis by coupling both photochemistry and thermochemistry. However, strategies for maximizing the use of solar spectra with different frequencies in photothermal catalysis are urgently needed. Here, a hierarchical full‐spectrum solar light utilization strategy is proposed. Based on this strategy, a Cu@hollow titanium silicalite‐1 zeolite (TS‐1) nanoreactor with spatially separated photo/thermal catalytic sites is designed to realize high‐efficiency photothermal catalytic artificial photosynthesis. The space–time yield of alcohol products over the optimal catalyst reached 64.4 μmol g−1 h−1, with the selectivity of CH3CH2OH of 69.5%. This rationally designed hierarchical utilization strategy for solar light can be summarized as follows: (1) high‐energy ultraviolet light is utilized to drive the initial and difficult CO2 activation step on the TS‐1 shell; (2) visible light can induce the localized surface plasmon resonance effect on plasmonic Cu to generate hot electrons for H2O dissociation and subsequent reaction steps; and (3) low‐energy near‐infrared light is converted into heat by the simulated greenhouse effect by cavities to accelerate the carrier dynamics. This work provides some scientific and experimental bases for research on novel, highly efficient photothermal catalysts for artificial photosynthesis.

Transient γ-radiation and laser-simulated experiments were carried out to investigate the transient dose rate effect (TDRE) in SiGe heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs) for the first time. The results indicate that IBM43RF0100 SiGe HBTs experience a significant sensitivity of TDRE. For the laser-simulated experiment, the duration of transient current and charge collection are matched well with that of transient γ-radiation. The amplitude of transient photocurrent induced by the lower energy order of μJ approaches the transient photocurrent induced by transient γ-radiation. It is demonstrated that laser-simulated experiments are a candidate and a convenient method to evaluate the TDRE response of SiGe HBTs, which avoids serious electromagnetic interference in the transient γ-radiation environment.

Serum anti-phospholipase A2 receptor (anti-PLA2R) antibody is used for the noninvasive diagnosis of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN). However, the cutoff value of anti-PLA2R antibodies in IMN patients is debatable. This study aimed to investigate the cutoff value of anti-PLA2R antibodies for diagnosing IMN and the correlation of anti-PLA2R antibodies with clinical parameters and prognosis. A total of 252 IMN patients and 521 non-IMN patients with both renal biopsy and serum anti-PLA2R antibody data from April 2017 to November 2019 were enrolled. Abstract Background Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) have been highly valued and an integral part of the health care system. Development and establishment of new APN roles is a complex process that has resulted from a wide variety of reasons, key component is a lack of a competency map delineation and role evaluation. Currently, however, competence framework has not been compared at an international level. In mainland China, APN have been introduced in some organizations but their competency domains have not yet been clearly defined, this study aimed to identify the core competencies for advanced practice nursing. Methods This study was performed in two phases: first, in-depth and semi-structured individual interviews with 46 participants from key stakeholders were carried out followed by a qualitative content analysis, then an item pool of core competencies was constructed by extracting data from the first phase and the results from previous studies, scales and documents; second, a Delphi technique was conducted with the participation of 28 experts from 7 areas of China to form the final core competency framework for advanced practice nursing. Results Through the qualitative phase, the core competency framework with six domains and 70 items emerged and then entered into the Delphi phase. Twenty-eight of 30 experts finished 2 rounds of Delphi approaches. The final core competencies for advanced practice nursing consisted of six domains with 61 items, including direct clinical nursing practice, research and evidence-based nursing practice, professional development, organization and management, mentoring and consultation, and ethical/legal practice. Conclusion This core competency framework consisted of six domains with 61 items can be used in competency-based education to cultivate advanced practice nurses as well as competency level assessment.

The dengue virus, the primary cause of dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever, and dengue shock syndrome, is the most widespread mosquito-borne virus worldwide. In recent decades, the prevalence of dengue fever has increased markedly, presenting substantial public health challenges. Consequently, the development of an efficacious vaccine against dengue remains a critical goal for mitigating its spread. Our research utilized Celcradle™, an innovative tidal bioreactor optimized for high-density cell cultures, to grow Vero cells for dengue virus production. By maintaining optimal pH levels (7.0 to 7.4) and glucose concentrations (1.5 g/L to 3.5 g/L) during the proliferation of cells and viruses, we achieved a peak Vero cell count of approximately 2.46 × 109, nearly ten times the initial count. The use of Celcradle™ substantially decreased the time required for cell yield and virus production compared to conventional Petri dish methods. Moreover, our evaluation of the immunogenicity of the Celcradle™-produced inactivated DENV4 through immunization of mice revealed that sera from these mice demonstrated cross-reactivity with DENV4 cultured in Petri dishes and showed elevated antibody titers compared to those from mice immunized with virus from Petri dishes. These results indicate that the dengue virus cultivated using the Celcradle™ system exhibited enhanced immunogenicity relative to that produced in traditional methods. In conclusion, our study highlights the potential of the Celcradle™ bioreactor for large-scale production of inactivated dengue virus vaccines, offering significant promise for reducing the global impact of dengue virus infections and accelerating the development of effective vaccination strategies.

The objective of this study was to investigate how nitrogen and slow-release fertilizers affect the traits of leaf senescence and quinoa production in order to explore the optimal slow-release fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer ratios suitable for quinoa production, as well as to provide theoretical references for the planting of quinoa fertilization methods and fertilizer amount. In this experiment, the main local strain Quinoa 77 was selected as the experimental material, and six treatments were set up: CK: no nitrogen fertilizer; T1: 100% urea (N); T2: 100% slow-release fertilizer (C); T3: 5:5 (C5N5); T4: 3:7 (C3N7); and T5: 7:3 (C7N3). This was done in order to investigate how various treatments affect the activities of catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), and superoxide dismutase (SOD); malondialdehyde (MDA) content; and yield of quinoa leaves. The findings revealed the following: (1) As the reproductive period progressed, the activities of CAT, POD, and SOD in quinoa leaves treated differently showed a tendency to increase and subsequently decrease, and they reached the peak value at the early stage of filling. The activity of CAT, POD, and SOD in the T3 treatment was the highest, and the average activities were 3148.74 U·g−1, 2197.84 U·g−1, and 118.51 U·g−1, respectively, which increased by 78.90%, 101.99%, and 108.14%, respectively, compared with CK. The content of MDA continued to increase with the progress of fertility. The average T3 treatment was 36.41 nmol·g−1, which was 46.87% lower than that of CK. (2) Out of all the treatments, T3 had the highest yield with an average of 3829.43 kg·hm−2, T5 the second with an average of 3313.52 kg·hm−2, and T4 the third with 2847.47 kg·hm−2, which increased yields by 96.18%, 69.75%, and 45.87%, respectively, compared with CK. (3) Yield was highly significantly and positively correlated with thousand kernel weight; number of grains per spike per plant; and the early filling stages of CAT, POD, and SOD sports, and it had a negative, extremely significant correlation with MDA content. Comprehensive analysis showed that slow-release fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer can improve the antioxidant enzyme activity of quinoa leaves, inhibit MDA content, improve the physiological characteristics of quinoa, and delay the purpose of leaf senescence, with a better effect of yield and income, of which the T3 treatment had the high-quality impact of increasing yields and was a more scientific and reasonable fertilization method.

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) is gaining recognition as a pseudocereal due to its nutritional attributes and adaptability to challenging conditions and marginal soils. However, understanding the optimal fertilization for quinoa growth remains a challenge. This study investigates the effects of nitrogen fertilization (0, 90, 120, and 150 kg using urea) on quinoa phenology, growth, and photosynthesis in the Loess Plateau region of China, a critical area facing soil erosion and ecological degradation. The results showed that nitrogen fertilization significantly influenced quinoa phenology, prompting early flowering and shorter growth at an optimum rate of 120 kg ha−1. Nitrogen application enhanced growth traits such as plant height, stem diameter, and chlorophyll content, particularly at the heading and flowering stages. Photosynthesis-related parameters, including net photosynthesis rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, and intercellular CO2 concentration, were affected by nitrogen application, with higher values observed at 120 kg ha−1. Non-photochemical quenching was significantly increased by nitrogen application, indicating the efficient dissipation of excess energy. The study demonstrated a positive correlation between grain yield and growth traits, photosynthesis-related traits, and chlorophyll content. In conclusion, quinoa yield could be significantly improved at the Loess Plateau region under rainfed conditions by an optimal nitrogen fertilizer rate of 120 kg ha−1, which reduces the growth duration while increasing photosynthesis traits.

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) electricity transaction is an emerging power trading model, which can effectively solve the drawbacks of traditional power trading that requires the exist of intermediaries. As the application spreads, P2P electricity transaction faces some regulatory issues. At present, some existing regulatory models are based on centralized trusteeship centers. There is no distributed regulatory mechanism, and no dynamic addition and deletion mechanism to prevent malicious collusion of regulators. In this article, we propose a multi-party audit and regulatory mechanism for P2P electricity transaction, which is based on a dynamic distributed traceable linkable group signature (DDT-LGS) scheme. This solution realizes the distributed trace and audit for P2P electricity transaction, and further realizes the dynamic permission of regulators to join and exit. We give the system architecture of multi-party audit and regulatory mechanism, formally define the algorithm process, and give a specific DDT-LGS construction. Security and performance analysis shows that the proposed scheme holds strong security, more comprehensive functions and better performance, that is suitable for P2P power trading scenarios.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) with good resistance can be used under extreme conditions, however, its surface hydrophobicity greatly limits its wide application in water treatment field. In this work, the hydrophobic PTFE microfiltration (MF) membrane was innovatively modified into a hydrophilic loose nanofiltration (NF) via synergic effect of the deposited polyethyleneimine (PEI) and poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) with assistance of fluorocarbon surfactant (FCS), and then crosslinked by glutaraldehyde (GA). The surface morphology, porosity and aperture size of the obtained cPEI-PVP-FCS/PTFE (cPPF) membrane were characterized in detail. The resultant membrane showed good dye desalination performance with high Evans blue rejection of 98.5%, NaCl rejection of 13.4%, along with permeance of 192.1 L m−2 h−1·MPa−1. In addition, the membrane showed long-term stability and good acid resistance.

In this paper, a two-loop photoelectric oscillator based on chirped fiber Bragg grating (CFBG) is used to construct a swept source, which acts on the frequency scanning array antenna to realise multibeamforming. The simulation results of the designed beamforming system have shown that it can realise wide-range beam scanning and has ultralow phase noise.

Resilient city is an ideal goal and model of urban development proposed in response to today’s complex and dynamic environmental changes. In this study, a resilient city evaluation framework of “social resilience-economic resilience-urban infrastructure and service-urban governance” was built upon the multi-dimensionality of the urban system; the entropy weight method was used to measure the level of urban resilience in Hunan Province while an obstacle degree model was used to identify any obstacle factor restricting to the development of resilience. The results show that the level of urban resilience in Hunan Province has grown slowly over the past 10 years, and there is an obvious regional difference in it. There are more and more highly resilient cities, but medium/low-resilience cities still dominate the province, forming a spatial process of evolution from “medium/high-level dispersion” to “medium/high-level aggregation” in the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration. The level of urban resilience is predominantly hindered by the social and economic systems; at the index layer, most obstacle factors are moving from the economic system to the social-economic-urban infrastructure and service system.

In the electricity market, prosumers are becoming more and more prevalent due to the fast development of distributed energy resources and demand response management, which also promote the appearance of peer-to-peer (P2P) trading mechanisms for energy. Optimization-based methods are efficient tools to design the P2P energy trading negotiation mechanism. However, the main drawback for market mechanisms based on optimization methods is that the incentive compatibility cannot be satisfied, which means participants can obtain more profit by providing untruthful biddings. To overcome this challenge, a novel consensus mechanism based on Proof of Solution (PoSo) is proposed for P2P energy trading. The optimization results will be verified by neighboring agents according to the KKT conditions in a fully decentralized and symmetric manner, which means agents will check each other’s solutions. However, the verification process may leak the private information of agents, and a privacy-preserving consensus mechanism is designed using Shamir’s secret sharing method. After that, we explore a method to realize that trusted agents can recover the right information even under the misbehavior of malicious agents by inheriting the philosophy of Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT). The numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed consensus mechanisms. In more detail, (1) when the message delivery success rate is not lower than 0.7, the consensus mechanisms almost guarantee success; (2) if the proportion of untrusted agents satisfies 4f+1≤Nωn, the proposed method guarantees the correctness of the consensus verification results; (3) the communication times among agents can be highly reduced by more than 60% by only verifying the optimality of the received results for the first three and last few iterations.

Background: Genetic mutations are quite common in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), however, their prognostic value remains controversial. Methods: This study explored the mutational landscape of tumor samples from patients with advanced NSCLC by next-generation sequencing (NGS). A total of 101 NSCLC patients in stage III or IV receiving first-line treatment were included. Results: TP53 mutation was the most frequent genetic alteration in NSCLC tumors (68%), followed by EGFR (49%), CDKN2A (12%), LRP1B (9%), and FAT3 (9%) mutations. Among 85 patients with stage IV NSCLC, first-line targeted therapy remarkably prolonged progression-free survival (PFS) of patients compared with first-line chemotherapy (p = 0.0028). Among 65 patients with stage IV NSCLC whose tumors harbored EGFR, ALK, ROS, or BRAF mutations, first-line targeted therapy substantially prolonged the PFS of patients (p = 0.0027). In patients with TP53 mutations who received first-line targeted therapy or chemotherapy, missense mutation was the most common mutation type (36/78), and exon 5 represented the most common mutated site (16/78). Conclusions: TP53 mutation in exon 5 could independently predict poor PFS of patients with stage IV NSCLC after the first- line treatment. Moreover, mutations in TP53 exon 5 and LRP1B were associated with shorter PFS of such patients whether after first-line chemotherapy or targeted therapy, respectively. Thus, these patients should be given immunotherapy or immunochemotherapy.

The utilization of low-N tolerant and N-efficifent varieties offers significant benefits in terms of reducing the need for excessive N fertilizer input. Quinoa, a resilient crop for agroecological transition, possesses a wide genetic diversity, making it suitable for selecting genotypes that require less N fertilizer. In this study, the growth and physiological characteristics of nine quinoa genotypes were assessed to determine their low-N tolerance using the fuzzy membership function. Based on comprehensive evaluation indices, three genotypes were identified: low-N tolerant (BL22), intermediately tolerant (A29), and sensitive (G68). These genotypes were exposed to varying N concentrations, including normal (4 mM), low (0.8 mM), and deficient N (no N) conditions. The results indicate that low-N conditions altered root phenotype, with reduced biomass, total protein, and chlorophyll content; increased soluble sugar levels; and inhibited N-metabolizing enzymes (nitrate reductase, glutamine synthetase, glutamate synthase) and N uptake. Under low-N conditions, the tolerant genotype exhibited higher maximal efficiency of photosystem II (Fv/Fm), root vitality, and N content compared to the sensitive genotype. Interestingly, the sensitive genotype displayed elongated and thinner shoots and roots in response to low-N, suggesting that plant height and root length are unreliable indicators of low-N tolerance in quinoa. In contrast, shoot and root dry biomass, Fv/Fm, chlorophyll content, N-metabolizing enzymes, and N content proved to be reliable indicators of low-N tolerance during the early growth stage of quinoa. Overall, these findings highlight the potential of utilizing specific growth and physiological parameters as indicators for screening low-N tolerant quinoa genotypes, thereby reducing dependence on N fertilizers.

In China, highway port networks are essential in carrying out tractor and semitrailer transportation operations. To analyze the characteristics of tractor and semitrailer routing in highway port networks, this study examined the situation in which the demands at both ends of the operation might be unbalanced and multiple requirements might be raised in the operation of tractor and semitrailer transportation. An optimal tractor and semitrailer routing model for an entire network was established to reduce the total transportation costs and the number of towing vehicles in the network. Moreover, a heuristic algorithm was designed to solve the model. The comparisons of Strategy 1 and Strategy 2 for a two-stage network swap trailer show that the number of pure network swaps trailer tractors decreases by 21.6% and 18.6%, respectively; and that the cost drops by 7.8% and 7.9%, respectively. In other words, swap trailer transport enterprises can abandon the original swap trailer transportation mode for a two-stage network and adopt a routing optimization strategy for an entire network to achieve superior operation performance, reduce costs, and enhance profits. The study provides a reference for optimizing tractor and semitrailer routing in highway port networks with balanced and multiple demands.

Abstract Background The aim was to determine the potential association of the gut microbiota composition, especially the abundance of Actinobacteria, as well as the differentiation of functional and resistance genes with age (young adults vs elderly subjects) in China. Results The patterns of relative abundance of all bacteria isolated from fecal samples differed between young adults and elderly subjects, but the alpha diversity (Chao1 P = 0.370, Shannon P = 0.560 and Simpson P = 0.270) and beta diversity (ANOSIM R = 0.031, P = 0.226) were not significantly different. There were 3 Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) metabolic pathways (carbon metabolism, inositol phosphate metabolism, and sesquiterpenoid and triterpenoid biosynthesis) and 7 antibiotic resistant genes (ARGs) (macrolide lincosamide-streptogramin B (MLSB), tetracycline, aminoglycoside, sulfonamide, fosmidomycin, lincomycin, and vancomycin) that showed significant differences between the 2 groups (all P 0.05). Only the Bifidobacterium_dentium species showed significant differences between the 2 groups (P = 0.013), with a higher abundance in elderly subjects but absent in young adults. Conclusions The present study revealed that there were 3 KEGG metabolic pathways and 7 ARGs as well as enhanced Bifidobacterium_dentium species abundance in elderly compared to young subjects.

Abstract Background Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) is an uncommon lymphoproliferative disorder and lacks treatment consensus. Herein, we report a case of iMCD complicated with Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) and secondary membranous nephropathy (SMN). Case presentation A 45-year-old female with dry mouth for 3 months and anasarca and proteinuria for 2 months was admitted. She also experienced chest tightness, wheezing, fever, weight loss, moderate proteinuria and hypoalbuminemia. A computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a tissue mass in the thymus area and enlarged multiple lymph nodes. Her symptoms did not improve after resection of the thymus mass. The pathological findings were “reactive hyperplasia of the mediastinal lymph nodes and thymic hyperplasia”. Lymph node biopsy findings confirmed iMCD with human herpes virus-8 (HHV-8) negativity. Based on anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) 1:320, anti-SSA and anti-SSB antibody positivity, salivary flow less than 0.1 ml/min and lip biopsy with focal lymphocytic sialadenitis, SS was diagnosed. Kidney biopsy showed secondary membranous nephropathy with endocapillary cell proliferation and infiltration of plasma cells and lymphocytes in the tubulointerstitium. Serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels were significantly increased, and therapy with tocilizumab (anti-IL-6 receptor antibody) worked well. The combination of cyclophosphamide (CyS) with methylprednisolone (MP) maintained satisfactory remission. Conclusions Our case of iMCD with SS and SMN is rare. There is a need for increased awareness of the disease to avoid unnecessary procedures and misdiagnoses. IL-6 was extremely high, and there was a rapid response to anti-IL-6 receptor agents. The combination of CyS with MP maintained complete remission.

Due to the random volatility, a large amount of renewable energy will bring challenges to the security and stability of distribution network. Comprehensive consideration of system economics, security and flexibility has become the focus of research on distribution network optimization planning under the new situation. For the flexible resource allocation problem of distribution network, this paper analyzes the supply and demand relationship of the flexibility of the distribution network, and establishes a bi-level operation-planning joint optimization model for flexible resources. In the operational layer, we not only introduce the insufficient flexibility rate as the evaluation index of system flexibility, but also introduce the network loss, the abandoned wind and solar energy in the economic penalty, aiming at optimizing the annual operating cost of the system. In the planning layer, we evaluate the system security by introducing the comprehensive security index of the system, aiming at optimizing the annual comprehensive cost of the system. In addition, this paper also considers the third-party companies' investment in energy storage system in the electricity market, and further analyses the impact of energy storage operation strategies under different investors on flexible resource allocation. In this paper, the particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to solve the bi-level allocation model. Finally, the IEEE 33-bus test system is used for verification and analysis of the case. The results verify the validity and rationality of the proposed bi-level allocation model.

Membrane filtration technology has attracted extensive attention in academia and industry due to its advantages of eco-friendliness related to environmental protection and high efficiency. Polyamide thin-film composite nanofiltration (PA TFC NF) membranes have been widely used due to their high separation performance. Non-acid-resistant PA TFC NF membranes face tremendous challenges in an acidic environment. Novel and relatively acid-resistant polysulfonamide-based and triazine-based TFC NF membranes have been developed, but these have a serious trade-off in terms of permeability and selectivity. Hence, how to improve acid resistance of TFC NF membranes and their separation performance in acidic environments is a pivotal issue for the design and preparation of these membranes. This review first highlights current strategies for improving the acid resistance of PA TFC NF membranes by regulating the composition and structure of the separation layer of the membrane performed by manipulating and optimizing the construction method and then summarizes the separation performances of these acid-resistant TFC NF membranes in acidic environments, as studied in recent years.

In order to analyze the influence of key additives during processing on the flavor of infant formula, the headspace-gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry, electronic tongue, and electronic nose techniques were used to evaluate flavor during the processing of stage 1 infant formula milk powder (0–6 months), including the analysis of seven critical additives. A total of 41 volatile compounds were identified, involving 12 aldehydes, 11 ketones, 9 esters, 4 olefins, 2 alcohols, 2 furans, and 1 acid. The electronic nose metal oxide sensor W5S had the highest response, followed by W1S and W2S, illustrating that these three sensors had great effects on distinguishing samples. The response results of the electronic tongue showed that the three sensory attributes of bitter, salty, and umami, as well as the richness of aftertaste, were more prominent, which contributed significantly to evaluating the taste profile and distinguishing among samples. Raw milk is an essential control point in the flavor formation process of stage 1 infant formula milk powder. Demineralized whey powder is the primary source of potential off-flavor components in hydrolyzed milk protein infant formula. This study revealed the quality characteristics and flavor differences of key additives in the production process of stage 1 infant formula milk powder, which could provide theoretical guidance for the quality control and sensory improvement of the industrialized production of infant formula.

To explore the efficiency of selenium (Se) fertilizer application in dryland maize, we tested five Se fertilizer application treatments: 0 g ha−1 (Se0), 75 g ha−1 (Se1), 150 g ha−1 (Se2), 225 g ha−1 (Se3), and 300 g ha−1 (Se4). Compared with Se0, Se2 increased the leaf area, chlorophyll content, internode length, plant height, and ear height by 7.95%, 3.20%, 13.19%, 1.89%, and 7.98%, respectively. Se2 and Se3 significantly affected the stem internode diameter, cortex thickness, and cellulose content, which were positively correlated with lodging resistance. Compared with Se0, Se3 promoted the contents of soluble sugar, crude protein, crude fat, and starch in grains, which increased by 9.48%, 6.59%, 1.56%, and 4.82%, respectively. It implies that maize grain application of Se significantly improves their Se content. Se1 did not observably influence the growth of maize, and the promoting effect of Se4 on maize decreased. The lodging resistance of maize as analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis correlated with the application of Se fertilizer. It proved that higher yield, grain quality, grain Se content, and lodging resistance of stems were concerned with Se fertilizer application in the range of 150–225 g ha−1. The results provide useful information for Se fertilizer treatment in dryland maize.

Background: Stroke generates significant health and social burdens. Self-management has potential importance for supporting individuals in coping and continuing to progress after stroke. However, there is a lack of targeted programs to enhance self-management and reduce self-perceived burden (SPB) following stroke.Purpose: To evaluate the effects of a goal-oriented intervention on self-management behaviors and SPB among patients after acute stroke.Methods: This was a randomized controlled trial with a 4-weeks intervention. Participants were randomly allocated to the intervention (n = 48) or control group (n = 48). The intervention and control groups received eight sessions of goal-oriented self-management intervention based on Pender's health promotion model and control care, respectively. Self-management behaviors and SPB were evaluated and compared between the two groups.Results: After the 1-month follow-up, there were significant differences in the total self-management behaviors score and the scores of six of the self-management dimensions, excluding diet management, between the intervention group and the control group (t = −7.891– −2.815; p ≤ 0.006). Compared to the control group, the intervention group showed a significant decrease in the physical burden, emotional burden, and total SPB scores (t = 2.102–2.071; p = 0.015–0.041). The economic burden score was not significantly different between the two groups (t = 1.707; p = 0.091).Conclusion: The goal-oriented intervention based on Pender's health promotion model can effectively improve self-management behaviors and reduce physical and emotional SPB among stroke survivors.

Abstract We study the three-body radiative decay $$B_s\rightarrow \phi \bar{K}^0 \gamma $$ Bs→ϕK¯0γ by introducing the $$\phi K$$ ϕK pair distribution amplitudes (DAs) in the perturbative QCD approach. This nonperturbative input, the two-meson DAs, is very important to simplify the calculations. Besides the dominant electromagnetic penguin operator $$O_{7\gamma }$$ O7γ , the subleading contributions from the chromomagnetic penguin operator $$O_{8g}$$ O8g , quark-loop corrections and annihilation type amplitudes are also considered. We find that the branching ratio for the decay $$B_s\rightarrow \phi \bar{K}^0 \gamma $$ Bs→ϕK¯0γ is about $$(9.26^{+1.79+3.12+0.64}_{-1.61-3.86-0.49})\times 10^{-8}$$ (9.26-1.61-3.86-0.49+1.79+3.12+0.64)×10-8 , which is much smaller than that for the decay $$B^0\rightarrow \phi K^0\gamma $$ B0→ϕK0γ . It is mainly because the former decay induced by $$b\rightarrow d\gamma $$ b→dγ with small CKM matrix element is proportional to $$\lambda ^3$$ λ3 . The prediction for the direct CP asymmetry is $$A^{dir}_{CP}(B_s\rightarrow \phi \bar{K}^0 \gamma )=(-4.1^{+0.4+1.7+0.2}_{-0.6-1.2-0.1})\%$$ ACPdir(Bs→ϕK¯0γ)=(-4.1-0.6-1.2-0.1+0.4+1.7+0.2)% , which is well consistent with the result from the U-spin symmetry approach. We also predict the $$B_s \rightarrow \phi \bar{K}^0\gamma $$ Bs→ϕK¯0γ decay spectrum, which exhibits a maximum at the $$\phi K$$ ϕK invariant masss around 1.95 GeV.

By 2020, there will be 2.36 million natural villages in China, with more than 500 million people living in them. Although China’s 2018 “National Rural Revitalization Strategy” has clarified the importance of the rural environment, the sustainability of living environments in rural settlements is generally ignored. However, current renovation work is implemented as per the same set of standards and is not sufficient to reach the highest satisfaction levels and sustainable development because the optimal renovation indicators are not selected according to local conditions. To address these issues, this work carried out a series of literature reviews and expert interviews to propose indicators applicable to the sustainable renovation of living environments in rural settlements in China. The questionnaire survey was conducted in a typical Chinese village in order to verify the feasibility of this decision model. Furthermore, the Kano model was organically combined with the importance–satisfaction (IS) model from the villagers’ point of view to establish a model analyzing the optimal indicators of the sustainable renovation. The results show that this model determines the priority of elements that need to be improved or maintained, based on which village administrators can make better management decisions and which government managers can invest limited government resources in key sectors, thus creating sustainable living environments in rural settlements and enhancing the satisfaction of villagers. It is suggested that the opinions of village administrators and planners be considered to optimize this model further.

Controlling shape-shift and size-growth in nanostructures are important developments in nanoscience but controlling morphology change with an instant on/off function remains challenging. Here the authors demonstrate control over morphology and size transformation of POSS molecules based on living thiol-disulfide exchange reactions.

Abstract We study the B meson decays $$B\rightarrow J/\Psi K_1(1270,1400)$$ B→J/ΨK1(1270,1400) in the pQCD approach beyond the leading order. With the vertex corrections and the NLO Wilson coefficients included, the branching ratios of the considered decays are predicted as $$Br(B^+\rightarrow J/\Psi K_1(1270)^+)=1.76^{+0.65}_{-0.69}\times 10^{-3}, Br(B^+\rightarrow J/\Psi K_1(1400)^+)=6.47^{+2.50}_{-2.34}\times 10^{-4}$$ Br(B+→J/ΨK1(1270)+)=1.76-0.69+0.65×10-3,Br(B+→J/ΨK1(1400)+)=6.47-2.34+2.50×10-4 , and $$Br(B^0\rightarrow J/\Psi K_1(1270)^0)=(1.63^{+0.60}_{-0.64})\times 10^{-3}$$ Br(B0→J/ΨK1(1270)0)=(1.63-0.64+0.60)×10-3 with the mixing angle $$\theta _{K_1}=33^\circ $$ θK1=33∘ , which can agree well with the data or the present experimental upper limit within errors. So we support the opinion that $$\theta _{K_1}\sim 33^\circ $$ θK1∼33∘ is much more favored than $$58^{\circ }$$ 58∘ . Furthermore, we also give the predictions of the polarization fractions, the direct CP violations, the relative phase angles for the considered decays with the mixing angle $$\theta _{K_1}=33^\circ $$ θK1=33∘ and $$58^\circ $$ 58∘ , respectively. The direct CP violations of the two charged decays $$B^+\rightarrow J/\Psi K_1(1270,1400)^+$$ B+→J/ΨK1(1270,1400)+ are very small $$(10^{-4}\sim 10^{-5})$$ (10-4∼10-5) , because the weak phase is very tiny. In order to check the dependence of the results on the nonperturbative input parameters, we also calculate them by using the harmonic-oscillator type wave functions for the $$J/\Psi $$ J/Ψ meson. These results can be tested at the running LHCb and forthcoming Super-B experiments.

Abstract Background Among CESA-like gene superfamily, the cellulose synthase-like D (CSLD) genes are most similar to cellulose synthase genes and have been reported to be involved in tip-growing cell and stem development. However, there has been no genome-wide characterization of this gene subfamily in cotton. We thus sought to analyze the evolution and functional characterization of CSLD proteins in cotton based on fully sequenced cotton genomes. Results A total of 23 full-length CSLD proteins were identified in Gossypium raimondii, Gossypium arboreum and Gossypium hirsutum. The phylogenetic tree divided the CSLD proteins into five clades with strong support: CSLD1, CSLD2/3, CSLD4, CSLD5 and CSLD6. The total expression of GhCSLD genes was the highest in androecium & gynoecium (mostly contributed by CSLD1 and CSLD4) compared with other CSL genes. CSLD1 and CSLD4 were only highly expressed in androecium & gynoecium (A&G), and showed tissue-specific expression. The total expression of CSLD2/3, 5 and 6 was highest in the specific tissues. These results suggest that CSLD genes showed the different pattern of expression. Cotton CSLD proteins were subjected to different evolutionary pressures, and the CSLD1 and CSLD4 proteins exhibited episodic and long-term shift positive selection. The predicted three-dimensional structure of GrCSLD1 suggested that GrCSLD1 belongs to glycosyltransferase family 2. The amino acid residues under positive selection in the CSLD1 lineage are positioned in a region adjacent to the class-specific region (CSR), β1-strand and transmembrane helices (TMHs) in the GrCSLD1structure. Conclusion Our results characterized the CSLD proteins by an integrated approach containing phylogeny, transcriptional profiling and 3D modeling. The study added to the understanding about the importance of the CSLD family and provide a useful reference for selecting candidate genes and their associations with the biosynthesis of the cell wall in cotton.

With the increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs), how to make full use of EVs to a peak shaving and valley filling effect on the electrical load, realise the effective interaction between EVs and power grid has become a hot spot of research. However, EV charging is random and uncertain on the characteristics of time and space, in this study, the authors consider the interaction between the EV and the power grid as the foraging behaviour of birds combined with the construction of EV charging station, and build a charge–discharge model based on a particle swarm optimisation algorithm to achieve optimal results through group cooperation. Finally, the feasibility of the scheme is verified by a numerical example.

Fault diagnosis technology (FDT) is an effective tool to ensure stability and reliable operation in wind turbines. In this paper, a novel fault diagnosis methodology based on a cloud bat algorithm (CBA)-kernel extreme learning machines (KELM) approach for wind turbines is proposed via combination of the multisensor data fusion technique and time-domain analysis. First, the derived method calculates the time-domain indices of raw signals, and the fused time-domain indexes dataset are obtained by the multisensor data fusion. Then, the CBA-based KELM recognition model that can identify fault patterns of a wind turbine gearbox (WTB) is automatically established with the fused dataset. The dataset includes a large number of samples involving 6 fault types under different operational conditions by 5 accelerometers. The effectiveness and feasibility of this proposed method are proved by adopting the datasets originated from the test rig, and it achieves a diagnostic accuracy of 96.25%. Finally, compared with the other peer-to-peer methods, the experimental classification results show that the proposed CBA-KELM technique has the best performances.

In order to obtain low-cost and excellent adsorption materials, this paper used calcium acetate and water glass as raw materials to synthesis hydrated calcium silicate gel by precipitation method. The performance and structure of hydrated calcium silicate gel were systematically studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, specific surface area analyzer and scanning electron microscope. Studies have shown that, non-crystal hydrated calcium silicate gel (CSH) were successfully prepared, and the removal rate of lead ion using CSH reached more than 90%. The adsorption process is consistent with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir adsorption isotherm model, and the limit adsorption capacity reaches 263.17 mg·g−1. The acid treatment experiment proved that the adsorption capacity of lead ion using CSH was satisfactory, and the adsorption rate remained at >60% after 5 cycles. The research may provide a low-cost, high-efficiency and high stability adsorbent.

Brevicoryne brassicae is a problematic pest in cabbage and other field crops. Synthetic pesticides are used to control this pest, but they are injurious for human health and the environment. The present study aimed to purify and identify the active compounds from Citrullus colocynthis leaves with an appraisal of their efficacy against B. brassicae. Separation and purification were performed via different chromatographic techniques. Molecular analysis and chemical structures were recognized by mass spectrum (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), respectively. Moreover, in vitro and in vivo aphicidal activity was assessed using various concentrations, i.e., 6.25, 12.5, 25 and 50 µg/mL at 12, 24, 48 and 72 h exposure. The outcome shows that mass spectrum analyses of the purified compounds suggested the molecular formulae are C30H50O and C29H50O, C29H48O. The compounds were characterized as fernenol and a mixture of spinasterol, 22,23-dihydrospinasterol by 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectrum analysis. The toxicity results showed that the mixture of spinasterol and 22,23-dihydrospinasterol showed LC50 values of 32.36, 44.49 and 37.50 µg/mL by contact, residual and greenhouse assay at 72 h exposure, respectively. In contrast, fernenol recorded LC50 values as 47.99, 57.46 and 58.67 µg/mL, respectively. On the other hand, spinasterol, 22,23-dihydrospinasterol showed the highest mortality, i.e., 66.67%, 53.33% and 60% while, 30%, 23.33% and 25% mortality was recorded by fernenol after 72 h at 50 µg/mL by contact, residual and greenhouse assay, respectively. This study suggests that spinasterol, 22,23-dihydrospinasterol are more effective against B. brassicae which may be introduced as an effective and suitable substitute of synthetic chemical pesticides.

Nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions have attracted much attention for increasing concern on the quality of the atmospheric environment. In view of NO decomposition in the cement production process, the preparation of Cu-Al/SiO2 porous material and its effect on NO decomposition were studied, and the denitrification mechanism was proposed in this paper. The NO decomposition performance of the Cu-Al/SiO2 porous material was tested via the experimental setup and infrared spectrometer and micro gas chromatography (GC). The result shows that the Cu-Al/SiO2 porous material with the template of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) had a better NO decomposition rate than materials with other templates when the temperature was above 500 °C, and NO decomposition rate could approach 100% at high temperatures above 750 °C. Structure analysis indicates that the prepared Cu-Al/SiO2 material structure was a mesoporous structure. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Ultraviolet−visible spectrophotometry (UV−Vis) results of the denitrification product show that the Cu-Al/SiO2 material mainly decomposed to Cu2O and Si2O, and the CuO decomposed to Cu2O and O2 at high temperature. The Cu(I)O was considered as the active phase. The redox process between Cu(II)O and Cu(I)O was thought to be the denitrification mechanism of the Cu-Al/SiO2 porous material.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is associated with dysregulation of both innate and adaptive immune response in the intestine. MicroRNA (miR)-155 is frequently expressed and functions in many immune cell types. Besides its function in adaptive immunity, miR-155 is a key regulator of the innate immune response in macrophages, dendritic cells, and even in epithelia cells. Although the roles of miR-155 within T and B lymphocytes in colitis have been reported, its function in innate immune cells has not been thoroughly examined. In this study, the dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis model was established in wild-type (WT) and miR-155−/− mice. Our results showed that miR-155 deficiency in macrophages recapitulated the alleviated colitis feature of miR-155−/− mice and appeared to skew toward the alterative M2 phenotype. Notably, the predominance of M2 in colon can result in dampened intestinal immune cell proliferation and inhibit CD4 T cell polarization toward Th1 and Th17. Moreover, C/EBPβ and SOCS1 were demonstrated as two key functional targets in this process. We also provided evidence for use of miR-155 inhibitor to treat colitis. Collectively, the findings highlight the central role of alternative M2 skewing for miR-155 function in colitis and reveal that macrophages might be a main target for therapeutics.

In recent years, with rising bioengineering, the improving saline-alkali soils of biological measures have become the lasting, stable and effective measures in favour of water and soil conservation and ecological balance. More studies have shown that the biological measures are the most effective and basic measures to improve saline-alkali soils, especially in the inland. Radix astragali is classified to leguminous plant and is a kind of non-toxic and widely used Chinese herbal medicine which is used in cardiac, diuretic, anti- inflammatory, germicide and immunity improvement because of being slightly sweet and tepid. This paper mainly studied the salt tolerance and restraint effects of Radix astragali in saline-alkali soils. In the experiment, different cultivation conditions were applied to investigate the improving saline-alkali soils effect of Radix astragali, which should provide an effective and system scientific technological approach for biological salt control and developing medicinal industry in the saline-alkali soils.

The electricity spot market is now being implemented in China. Demand response, as a kind of flexible resource, is also being studied and explored for the constructed power market. Among the many demand response applications, the virtual power plant (VPP) as an aggregator of distributed energy resources (DERs), receives ever-increasing attention. However, the participation manner and related impacts of the VPP to the electricity spot market are still unknown within the current power market rules. Under this background, obeying the present trading rules of China’s electricity spot market, a two-stage dispatching model with optimized bidding and operating strategy in the day-ahead (DA) and real-time (RT) market for the VPP is proposed. In the designed model, the conditional risk value (CVaR) is adopted to address the risk encountered by the uncertainty of the electricity spot market price. The impact of the user-side over-deviated revenue mechanism (UORM) of the China spot market on the income of the VPP in the DA and RT market is also analyzed. For a full evaluation, different coefficients for the influence of DA and RT risk, UORM, and energy storage system (ESS) are tested to investigate their respective impacts on the revenue of the VPP. The simulation cases prove that the proposed method is helpful for the VPP to optimize DERs’ output in the electricity spot market according to its own risk preference.

The experiments of reactor neutron irradiation which induce dark signal increase in COTS array CCDs are presented. The flux of the reactor neutron beams was about 1.33 × 108 n/cm2s. The three samples were exposed to 1MeV neutron-equivalent fluences of 1 × 1011, 5 × 1011, and 1 × 1012 n/cm2, respectively. The mean dark signal (KD), dark signal non-uniformity (DSNU), and dark signal spikes (hot pixels) versus neutron fluence are investigated. The degradation mechanisms of the dark signal in CCDs are analyzed. The mean dark signal increase due to neutron displacement damage appears to be proportional to displacement damage dose. The dark images from the CCDs irradiated by neutrons are presented to investigate the generation of dark signal spike. The 1D and 2D figures which show the output signal voltage of pixels in dark images irradiated by different neutron beam fluences, are presented to compare the degradation of KD, DSNU, and dark signal spike.

In this work, the positively or negatively charged anatase TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized via a low temperature precipitation-peptization process (LTPPP) in the presence of poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI) and poly(sodium4- styrenesulfonate) (PSS). X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM) confirmed the anatase crystalline phase. The charges of the prepared TiO2, PEI-TiO2 and PSS-TiO2 nanoparticles were investigated by zeta potentials. The results showed that the zeta potentials of PEI-TiO2 nanoparticles can be tuned from +39.47 mV to +95.46 mV, and that of PSS-TiO2 nanoparticles can be adjusted from -56.63 mV to -119.32 mV. In comparison with TiO2, PSS-TiO2 exhibited dramatic adsorption and degradation of dye molecules, while the PEI modified TiO2 nanoparticles showed lower photocatalytic activity. The photocatalytic performances of these charged nanoparticles were elucidated by the results of UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) and the photoluminescence (PL) spectra, which indicated that the PSS-TiO2 nanoparticles showed a lower recombination rate of electron-hole pairs than TiO2 and PEI-TiO2.

AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) plays an important role in mediating energy metabolism and is controlled mainly by two upstream kinases, LKB1 or Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase kinase-β (CaMKKβ). Previously, we found that baicalin, one of the major flavonoids in a traditional Chinese herb medicine, Scutellaria baicalensis, protects against the development of hepatic steatosis in rats feeding with a high-fat diet by the activation of AMPK, but, the underlying mechanism for AMPK activation is unknown. Here we show that in two LKB1-deficient cells, HeLa and A549 cells, baicalin activates AMPK by α Thr-172 phosphorylation and subsequent phosphorylation of its downstream target, acetyl CoA carboxylase, at Ser-79, to a similar degree as does in HepG2 cells (that express LKB1). Pharmacologic inhibition of CaMKKβ by its selective inhibitor STO-609 markedly inhibits baicalin-induced AMPK activation in both HeLa and HepG2 cells, indicating that CaMKKβ is the responsible AMPK kinase. We also show that treatment of baicalin causes a larger increase in intracellular Ca(2+) concentration ([Ca(2+)](i)), although the maximal level of [Ca(2+)](i) is lower in HepG2 cells compared to HeLa cells. Chelation of intracellular free Ca(2+) by EDTA and EGTA, or depletion of intracellular Ca(2+) stores by the endoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-ATPase inhibitor thapsigargin abrogates baicalin-induced activation of AMPK in HeLa cells. Neither cellular ATP nor the production of reactive oxygen species is altered by baicalin. Finally, in HeLa cells, baicalin treatment no longer decreases intracellular lipid accumulation caused by oleic acid after inhibition of CaMKKβ by STO-609. These results demonstrate that a potential Ca(2+)/CaMKKβ dependent pathway is involved in the activation of AMPK by baicalin and suggest that CaMKKβ likely acts as an upstream kinase of AMPK in response to baicalin.
