Abstract: Interferometric observations of gravitational microlensing events offer an opportunity for precise, efficient, and direct mass and distance measurements of lensing objects, especially those of isolated neutron stars and black holes. However, such observations were previously possible for only a handful of extremely bright events. The recent development of a dual-field interferometer, GRAVITY Wide, has made it possible to reach out to significantly fainter objects, and increase the pool of microlensing events amenable to interferometric observations by two orders of magnitude. Here, we present the first successful observation of a microlensing event with GRAVITY Wide and the resolution of microlensed images in the event OGLE-2023-BLG-0061/KMT-2023-BLG-0496. We measure the angular Einstein radius of the lens with a sub-percent precision, $\theta_{\rm E} = 1.280 \pm 0.009$ mas. Combined with the microlensing parallax detected from the event light curve, the mass and distance to the lens are found to be $0.472 \pm 0.012 M_{\odot}$ and $1.81 \pm 0.05$ kpc, respectively. We present the procedure for the selection of targets for interferometric observations, and discuss possible systematic effects affecting GRAVITY Wide data. This detection demonstrates the capabilities of the new instrument and it opens up completely new possibilities for the follow-up of microlensing events, and future routine discoveries of isolated neutron stars and black holes., Comment: submitted to AAS Journals

Abstract: The International Muon Collider Collaboration (IMCC) [1] was established in 2020 following the recommendations of the European Strategy for Particle Physics (ESPP) and the implementation of the European Strategy for Particle Physics-Accelerator R&D Roadmap by the Laboratory Directors Group [2], hereinafter referred to as the the European LDG roadmap. The Muon Collider Study (MuC) covers the accelerator complex, detectors and physics for a future muon collider. In 2023, European Commission support was obtained for a design study of a muon collider (MuCol) [3]. This project started on 1st March 2023, with work-packages aligned with the overall muon collider studies. In preparation of and during the 2021-22 U.S. Snowmass process, the muon collider project parameters, technical studies and physics performance studies were performed and presented in great detail. Recently, the P5 panel [4] in the U.S. recommended a muon collider R&D, proposed to join the IMCC and envisages that the U.S. should prepare to host a muon collider, calling this their "muon shot". 3. Characteristics of temporal variability of long-duration bursts of high-energy radiation associated with thunderclouds on the Tibetan plateau

Abstract: From 1998 to 2017, neutron monitors located at an altitude of 4300 m on the Tibetan plateau detected 127 long-duration bursts of high-energy radiation in association with thunderclouds. These bursts typically lasted for 10 to 40 minutes, and 89\% of them occurred between 10:00 and 24:00 local time. They were also found to be more likely to occur at night, especially during 18:00$-$06:00 local time period. The observed diurnal and seasonal variations in burst frequency were consistent with the frequencies of lightning and precipitation on the Tibetan plateau. Based on 19 years of data, the present study suggests that an annual variation in burst frequency has a periodicity of $\sim$16 years and a lag of $\sim$3 years relative to solar activity., Comment: 28 pages, accepted for publication in Progress in Earth and Planetary Science

Abstract: Starting from the observing campaign in April 2018, the Greenland Telescope (GLT) has been added as a new station of the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) array. Visibilities on baselines to the GLT, particularly in the North-South direction, potentially provide valuable new constraints for the modeling and imaging of sources such as M87*. The GLT's location at high Northern latitudes adds unique challenges to its calibration strategies. Additionally, the performance of the GLT was not optimal during the 2018 observations due to it being only partially commissioned at the time. This document describes the steps taken to estimate the various parameters (and their uncertainties) required for the absolute flux calibration of the GLT data as part of the EHT. 5. Controlled asymmetric Ising model implemented with parametric micromechanical oscillators

Abstract: Asymmetric Ising model, in which coupled spins affect each other differently, plays an important role in diverse fields, from physics to biology to artificial intelligence. We show that coupled parametric oscillators provide a well-controlled and fully characterizable physical system to implement the model. Such oscillators are bistable. The coupling changes the rate of interstate switching of an oscillator depending on the state of other oscillators. Our experiment on two coupled micromechanical resonators reveals unusual features of asymmetric Ising systems, including the onset of a probability current that circulates in the stationary state. We relate the asymmetry to the exponentially strong effect of a periodic force on the switching rates of an individual parametric oscillator, which we measure. Our findings open the possibilities of constructing and exploring asymmetric Ising systems with controlled parameters and connectivity.

Qingre Lishi Decoction (QRLSD) has achieved great clinical effect in the treatment of psoriasis. However, the potential bioactive components and the mechanisms are yet unclear.Aim: To analyze the serum parameters of rats fed with QRLSD, screen out the active components of QRLSD, and explore the potential targets and pathway of QRLSD in the treatment of psoriasis.Materials and Methods: The active components of serum containing QRLSD were analyzed using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS). The targets of QRLSD in the treatment of psoriasis were predicted by network pharmacology and molecular docking. In vitro experiments verified the underlying mechanism.Results: By UPLC-Q-TOF/MS, 15 prototype components and 22 metabolites were identified in serum containing QRLSD. Subsequently, 260 chemical composition targets and 218 psoriasis targets were overlapped to obtain 23 intersection targets, including LGALS3, TNF, F10, DPP4, EGFR, MAPK14, STAT3 and others. TNF, IL-10, GAPDH, STAT3, EGFR, ITGB1, LGALS3 genes were identified as potential drug targets in the PPI network analyzed by CytoHubba. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses indicated that QRLSD may improve psoriasis by regulating immune and inflammatory pathways, the cytokine mediated signal transduction pathways and other signaling pathways. Molecular docking results showed that the main active components of the serum containing QRLSD had higher affinities for TNF and LGALS3. In vitro experiments confirmed that QRLSD may decrease levels of inflammatory cytokines by suppressing the NF-κB signaling pathway activated by TNF-α in human keratinocytes.Conclusion: This study explores the potential compounds, targets and signaling pathways of QRLSD in the treatment of psoriasis, which will help clarify the efficacy and mechanism of QRLSD.Keywords: qingre lishi decoction, psoriasis, UPLC-Q-TOF/MS, network pharmacology, molecular docking, NF-κB signaling pathway

7. Observation of a Kondo impurity state and universal screening using a charge pseudospin

Abstract: The Kondo effect, deriving from a local magnetic impurity mediating electron-electron interactions, constitutes a flourishing basis for understanding a large variety of intricate many-body problems. Its experimental implementation in tunable circuits has made possible important advances through well-controlled investigations. However, these have mostly concerned transport properties, whereas thermodynamic observations - notably the fundamental measurement of the spin of the Kondo impurity - remain elusive in test-bed circuits. Here, with a novel combination of a "charge" Kondo circuit with a charge sensor, we directly observe the state of the impurity and its progressive screening. We establish the universal renormalization flow from a single free spin to a screened singlet, the associated reduction in the magnetization, and the relationship between scaling Kondo temperature and microscopic parameters. In our device, a Kondo pseudospin is realized by two degenerate charge states of a metallic island, which we measure with a non-invasive, capacitively coupled charge sensor. Such pseudospin probe of an engineered Kondo system opens the way to the thermodynamic investigation of many exotic quantum states, including the clear observation of Majorana zero modes through their fractional entropy.

Abstract: We present a new measurement of the $^4_\Lambda$H hypernuclear lifetime using in-flight $K^-$ + $^4$He $\rightarrow$ $^4_\Lambda$H + $\pi^0$ reaction at the J-PARC hadron facility. We demonstrate, for the first time, the effective selection of the hypernuclear bound state using only the $\gamma$-ray energy decayed from $\pi^0$. This opens the possibility for a systematic study of isospin partner hypernuclei through comparison with data from ($K^-$, $\pi^-$) reaction. As the first application of this method, our result for the $^4_\Lambda$H lifetime, $\tau(^4_\Lambda \mathrm{H}) = 206 \pm 8 (\mathrm{stat.}) \pm 12 (\mathrm{syst.})\ \mathrm{ps}$, is one of the most precise measurements to date. We are also preparing to measure the lifetime of the hypertriton ($^3_\Lambda$H) using the same setup in the near future.

Oral minocycline has been widely used in the treatment of rosacea. However, the efficacy and safety of ozonated hydrotherapy combined with LED yellow light irradiation and oral minocycline for mild to moderate papulopustular rosacea (PPR) has not been thoroughly studied.Methods: Patients with rosacea who met the criteria and had complete clinical statistic admitted to our hospital from April 2021 to September 2022 were retrospectively collected and divided into combined therapy group and oral only group. The patients in the two groups were treated with minocycline for 8 weeks. In addition, the patients in combined therapy group were treated with ozone hydrotherapy once a week, followed by LED yellow light irradiation for a total of 4 weeks. The Investigator’ s global assessment (IGA) score was used to assess the condition. The efficacy was evaluated using the patients’ subjective symptom scores. Skin lesion images and adverse reactions were recorded. The recurrence rate was observed after 24 weeks of follow-up.Results: A total of 39 patients included in the study. After 4 weeks of treatment, the effective rate was 90% in combined therapy group and 52.63% in oral only group (p< 0.05). After 8 weeks of treatment, the total score of the patients’ subjective symptom scores and the scores of itching and burning sensation in combined therapy group were lower than those in oral only group (p< 0.05). After 24 weeks of follow-up, the recurrence rate of combined therapy group was 5%, and that of oral only group was 26.32%. (-)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) has been found to be effective in this regard; however, owing to its low bioavailability, nanodelivery is recommended for practical applications. Compared to chemical reduction methods, biosynthesis avoids possible biotoxicity and cumbersome preparation processes.Materials and Methods: The interaction between EGCG and Aβ 42 was simulated by molecular docking, and green tea-conjugated gold nanoparticles (GT-Au NPs) and EGCG-Au NPs were synthesized using EGCG-enriched green tea and EGCG solutions, respectively. Surface active molecules of the particles were identified and analyzed using various liquid chromatography-tandem triple quadrupole mass spectrometry methods. ThT fluorescence assay, circular dichroism, and TEM were used to investigate the effect of synthesized particles on the inhibition of Aβ 42 aggregation.Results: EGCG as well as apigenin, quercetin, baicalin, and glutathione were identified as capping ligands stabilized on the surface of GT-Au NPs. They more or less inhibited Aβ 42 aggregation or promoted fibril disaggregation, with EGCG being the most effective, which bound to Aβ 42 through hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic interactions, etc. resulting in 39.86% and 88.50% inhibition of aggregation and disaggregation effects, respectively. EGCG-Au NPs were not as effective as free EGCG, whereas multiple thiols and polyphenols in green tea accelerated and optimized heavy metal detoxification. The synthesized GT-Au NPs conferred the efficacy of diverse ligands to the particles, with inhibition of aggregation and disaggregation effects of 54.69% and 88.75%, respectively, while increasing the yield, enhancing water solubility, and decreasing cost.Conclusion: Biosynthesis of nanoparticles using green tea is a promising simple and economical drug-carrying approach to confer multiple pharmacophore molecules to Au NPs. Women with and without aPL positivity were selected using propensity score matching (PSM). Clinical features and pregnancy outcomes were compared between the two groups in the PSM cohort. To analyze the effect of aPL positivity on pregnancy outcomes, multivariate logistic models were used to obtain adjusted odds ratios (aOR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI).Results: Among the 773 women with twin pregnancies, aPL positivity was found in 26 women (3.36%). In the PSM cohort, there were 24 twin-pregnant women with positive aPL, and 48 women without aPL were selected as controls. Twin-pregnant women with aPL positivity had a higher proportion of abortion (8.33% vs 0, P = 0.043), preterm birth < 34 weeks (33.33% vs 8.33%, P = 0.007) and very low birthweight (< 1500 g) (20.83% vs 4.17%, P = 0.016) than the control group. In addition, stillbirth of one fetus was observed in one twin-pregnant woman with positive aPL. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that twin pregnancy with aPL positivity was associated with preterm birth < 34 weeks (aOR = 2.76, 95% CI: 0.83– 4.70, P = 0.005), very low birthweight (< 1500 g) (OR = 2.40, 95% CI: 0.18– 4.67, P = 0.034) and small for gestational age (SGA) (aOR = 1.66, 95% CI: 0.22– 3.10, P =0.024).Conclusion: Twin pregnancies with aPL positivity were correlated with obstetric complications, including abortion, preterm birth < 34 weeks and very low birthweight (< 1500 g). The clinical characteristics of patients with AE and their correlation with the 24 STs were investigated.Results: A total of 287 patients with AE were included in this study, among which there were 179 males (62.37%) and 108 females (37.63%), with a mean age of 47.79 ± 13.83 years (range 16– 87 years). Of these patients, 100 (34.84%) had at least one comorbidity and the most common comorbidities were hypertension, smoking and type 2 diabetes. The duration of hospitalization was 3 days (IQR, 1– 16 days). All patients, except for one who required tracheal intubation, were cured with intravenous antibiotic administration and the combined use of corticosteroids. The incidence of AE showed significant fluctuations between the 24 STs and the highest number of cases occurred during the Summer solstice (24 cases, 8.36%).Conclusion: The incidence of AE was seen to increase annually in this study. The main features of AE are sore throat, dysphagia, odynophagia and fever, which may be accompanied by inflammation in surrounding areas. A clear correlation exists between the incidence of AE and the fluctuations within the 24 STs, notably with the peak incidence observed during the Summer solstice, which approximately corresponds to June 21 to July 7 in the Gregorian calendar.Keywords: acute epiglottitis, 24 solar terms, seasonal variations, incidence, summer solstice

Despite extensive research, the optimal treatment for multiple myeloma peripheral neuropathy (MMPN) remains unclear. Clinical practice has shown the potential efficacy of acupuncture in managing MMPN. This study aimed to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the literature to assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture as a treatment for MMPN.Methods: The PubMed, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases were comprehensively searched from inception to November 1, 2023 to identify relevant studies pertaining to the use of acupuncture to treat MMPN.Results: A total of five studies, encompassing 97 patients diagnosed with drug-related PN, were ultimately included in this analysis. The literature lacks any reports pertaining to the utilization of acupuncture for disease-related PN. ST36, LI4, SP6, and EX-LE-10 were found to be the most frequently chosen acupoints. Following acupuncture treatment, there was a consistent reduction in scores on the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Neuropathic Pain Scale (NPS), Brief Pain Inventory-Short Form (BPI-SF), and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy/Gynecologic Oncology Group-Neurotoxicity (FACT/GOG-Ntx) among MMPN patients. The results of Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) tests yielded conflicting results. No severe adverse effects were reported.Conclusion: The use of acupuncture for disease-related PN has not been studied to date. Acupuncture is safe for drug-related PN and is helpful for relieving pain. The objective of this study is to provide an analysis of the factors leading geriatric inpatients to seek dermatological consultation, aiming to facilitate accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of skin diseases by healthcare professionals specializing in geriatrics and dermatology.Methods: The electronic health records of hospitalized patients in the Department of Geriatrics who applied for dermatological consultation at the Second Hospital of Shandong University from June 1, 2022, to June 1, 2023, were retrieved. Sex, age, number of consultations, reason for dermatology consultation, and final diagnosis by dermatologists were reviewed.Results: A total of 216 consultations of 178 patients (n=178, 95 men and 83 women) were collected in this study, of whom 153 (86.0%) required only one consultation, 19 (10.7%) required two consultations, and 4 (2.2%) required three consultations. The reasons for dermatology consultations were divided into three categories: the first was for the definitive diagnosis of a new skin condition that developed during the patient’s hospitalization (n=165, 76.4%), the second was for the follow-up of the condition and adjustment of medication (n=40, 18.5%), and the third was for the evaluation of the patient’s disease that existed before admission to the hospital (n=11, 5.1%). In 165 consultations, most of these diseases (n=131, 79.4%) can be diagnosed by patients’ conscious symptoms and clinical manifestations. Some of them need to be diagnosed or differentially diagnosed with the help of supplementary examinations, such as microscopic examination of scabies or fungi, and pathological examination.Conclusion: This study summarized the reasons for dermatology consultations for geriatric inpatients and found that dermatitis/eczema and infectious diseases were the common types of diseases consulted. The findings of this study contribute to the enhanced comprehension and management of dermatological conditions in hospitalized patients by geriatricians, as well as facilitating more efficient diagnosis and treatment by dermatologists.Keywords: geriatrics, dermatology consultation, skin diseases

A majority of studies explore the “uphold” effects of multiple leader behavior toward the voice behavior; nonetheless, our study revealed the “undo” effect --- leader hypocrisy on voice behavior. Drawing on social cognitive theory, we investigated the relationship between leader hypocrisy and voice behavior, examined the mediating effects of cognition-based trust and affect-based trust, and the moderating effect of moral identity.Patients and Methods: We conducted a three-wave survey in a large Chinese corporation to test the hypothesized model. We collected 562 employees to participate in this survey.Results: The results show that leader hypocrisy negatively impacts employees’ cognition-based and affect-based trust, and both types of trust mediate the relationship between leader hypocrisy and voice behavior, respectively. In the meantime, moral identity manifested the negative effect of leader hypocrisy on cognition-based and affect-based trust.Conclusion: Our research not only enriches the related research on leader hypocrisy and voice behavior but also uncovers the underlying mechanism through which leader hypocrisy affects voice behavior and the boundary conditions of this effect. This study aimed to explore the relationship between the expression of complements and immunoglobulin in serum and progression of MMD.Methods: A total of 84 patients with MMD and 70 healthy individuals were enrolled. Serum immunoglobulin and complement C3 and C4 expression were compared between healthy individuals and MMD patients. Follow-up was performed at least 6 months post-operation. Univariate and multivariate analysis after adjusting different covariates were performed to explore predictive factors associated with vasculopathy progression. A nomogram basing on the results of multivariate analysis was established to predict vasculopathy progression.Results: Compared to healthy individuals, MMD patients had significantly lower expression of serum complements C3 (P = 0.003&ast;). Among MMD patients, C3 was significantly lower in those with late-stage disease (P = 0.001&ast;). Of 84 patients, 27/84 (32.1%) patients presented with vasculopathy progression within a median follow-up time of 13.0 months. Age (P=0.006&ast;), diastolic blood pressure (P=0.004&ast;) and serum complement C3 expression (P=0.015&ast;) were associated with vasculopathy progression after adjusting different covariables.Conclusion: Complement C3 is downregulated in moyamoya disease and decreases even further in late–Suzuki stage disease. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate pivotal molecular markers that may facilitate the diagnosis of EoE in pediatric patients.Methods: Three available EoE-associated gene expression datasets in children: GSE184182, GSE 197702, GSE55794, along with GSE173895 were downloaded from the GEO database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) identified by “limma” were intersected with key module genes identified by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), and the shared genes went through functional enrichment analysis. The protein–protein interaction (PPI) network and the machine learning algorithms: least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), random forest (RF), and XGBoost were used to reveal candidate diagnostic markers for EoE. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve showed the efficacy of differential diagnosis of this marker, along with online databases predicting its molecular regulatory network. Finally, we performed gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and assessed immune cell infiltration of EoE/control samples by using the CIBERSORT algorithm. The correlations between the key diagnostic biomarker and immune cells were also investigated.Results: The intersection of 936 DEGs and 1446 key module genes in EoE generated 567 genes, which were primarily enriched in immune regulation. Following the construction of the PPI network and filtration by machine learning, CXCR2 served as a potential diagnostic biomarker of pediatric EoE with a perfect diagnostic efficacy (AUC = ~1.00) in regional tissue/peripheral whole blood samples. Abstract: Context. Brown dwarfs are poorly understood transition objects between stars and planets, with several competing mechanisms having been proposed for their formation. Mass measurements are generally difficult for isolated objects but also for brown dwarfs orbiting low-mass stars, which are often too faint for spectroscopic follow-up. Aims. Microlensing provides an alternative tool for the discovery and investigation of such faint systems. Here we present the analysis of the microlensing event OGLE-2019-BLG-0033/MOA-2019-BLG-035, which is due to a binary system composed of a brown dwarf orbiting a red dwarf. Methods. Thanks to extensive ground observations and the availability of space observations from Spitzer, it has been possible to obtain accurate estimates of all microlensing parameters, including parallax, source radius and orbital motion of the binary lens. Results. After accurate modeling, we find that the lens is composed of a red dwarf with mass $M_1 = 0.149 \pm 0.010M_\odot$ and a brown dwarf with mass $M_2 = 0.0463 \pm 0.0031M_\odot$, at a projected separation of $a_\perp = 0.585$ au. The system has a peculiar velocity that is typical of old metal-poor populations in the thick disk. Percent precision in the mass measurement of brown dwarfs has been achieved only in a few microlensing events up to now, but will likely become common with the Roman space telescope., Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures

Abstract: Abstract The complex neuromuscular network that controls body movements is the target of severe diseases that result in paralysis and death. Here, we report the development of a robust and efficient self-organizing neuromuscular junction (soNMJ) model from human pluripotent stem cells that can be maintained long-term in simple adherent conditions. The timely application of specific patterning signals instructs the simultaneous development and differentiation of position-specific brachial spinal neurons, skeletal muscles, and terminal Schwann cells. High-content imaging reveals self-organized bundles of aligned muscle fibers surrounded by innervating motor neurons that form functional neuromuscular junctions. Optogenetic activation and pharmacological interventions show that the spinal neurons actively instruct the synchronous skeletal muscle contraction. The generation of a soNMJ model from spinal muscular atrophy patient-specific iPSCs reveals that the number of NMJs and muscle contraction is severely affected, resembling the patient’s pathology. In the future, the soNMJ model could be used for high-throughput studies in disease modeling and drug development. Thus, this model will allow us to address unmet needs in the neuromuscular disease field.

Abstract: We report the analysis of planetary microlensing event OGLE-2018-BLG-1185, which was observed by a large number of ground-based telescopes and by the $Spitzer$ Space Telescope. The ground-based light curve indicates a low planet-host star mass ratio of $q = (6.9 \pm 0.2) \times 10^{-5}$, which is near the peak of the wide-orbit exoplanet mass-ratio distribution. We estimate the host star and planet masses with a Bayesian analysis using the measured angular Einstein radius under the assumption that stars of all masses have an equal probability to host this planet. The flux variation observed by $Spitzer$ was marginal, but still places a constraint on the microlens parallax. Imposing a conservative constraint that this flux variation should be $\Delta f_{\rm Spz} < 4$ instrumental flux units indicates a host mass of $M_{\rm host} = 0.37^{+0.35}_{-0.21}\ M_\odot$ and a planet mass of $m_{\rm p} = 8.4^{+7.9}_{-4.7}\ M_\oplus$. A Bayesian analysis including the full parallax constraint from $Spitzer$ suggests smaller host star and planet masses of $M_{\rm host} = 0.091^{+0.064}_{-0.018}\ M_\odot$ and $m_{\rm p} = 2.1^{+1.5}_{-0.4}\ M_\oplus$, respectively. However, the direct antibody infusion effect is limited due to the short half-life and deficient immunogenicity of the antibody. As an alternative strategy, we propose the use of nano viral vectors, specifically the adeno-associated virus (AAV), to continuously and systematically produce bNAbs against HIV.Methods: Plasmids expressing bNAbs PG9, PG16, 10E8, and NIH45-46 antibodies were constructed, targeting three different epitopes of HIV. Additionally, the bNAbs gene mediated by rAAV8 was administered to generate long-term expression with a single injection. We established both single and combined immunization groups. The neutralizing activity of antibodies expressed in mice sera was subsequently evaluated.Results: The expression of bNAbs in BALB/c mice can last for > 24 weeks after a single intramuscular injection of rAAV8. Further studies show that neutralization of the HIV pseudovirus by sera from co-immunized mice with rAAV8 expressing 10E8 and PG16 was enhanced compared with mice immunized with 10E8 or PG16 alone.Conclusion: The prolonged expression of neutralizing antibodies can be maintained over long periods in BALB/c mice. POD was identified using the Confusion Assessment Methods (CAM). The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) method was used to screen risk factors, and prediction models were created by combining the outcomes with logistic regression analysis. We employ bootstrap validation for internal validation to examine the model’s repeatability. The results were validated using a prospective study on 153 patients operated on from January 2022 to May 2022 at another institution.Results: The predictors in the POD nomogram included age, the Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE), sleep disorder, neurological disorders, preoperative serum creatinine (Pre-SCR), and ASA classification. The c-index of the model was 0.928 (95% confidence interval 0.898 ~ 0.957) and the bootstrap validation still achieved a high c-index of 0.912. The c-index of the external validation was 0.921. The calibration curve for the diagnostic probability showed good agreement between prediction by nomogram and actual observation.Conclusion: By combining preoperative and intraoperative clinical risk factors, we created a POD risk nomogram to predict the probability of POD in elderly patients who undergo elective orthopedic surgery. 26. Attenuation of reverse transcriptase facilitates SAMHD1 restriction of HIV-1 in cycling cells

Abstract: Abstract Background SAMHD1 is a deoxynucleotide triphosphohydrolase that restricts replication of HIV-1 in differentiated leucocytes. HIV-1 is not restricted in cycling cells and it has been proposed that this is due to phosphorylation of SAMHD1 at T592 in these cells inactivating the enzymatic activity. To distinguish between theories for how SAMHD1 restricts HIV-1 in differentiated but not cycling cells, we analysed the effects of substitutions at T592 on restriction and dNTP levels in both cycling and differentiated cells as well as tetramer stability and enzymatic activity in vitro. Results We first showed that HIV-1 restriction was not due to SAMHD1 nuclease activity. We then characterised a panel of SAMHD1 T592 mutants and divided them into three classes. We found that a subset of mutants lost their ability to restrict HIV-1 in differentiated cells which generally corresponded with a decrease in triphosphohydrolase activity and/or tetramer stability in vitro. Interestingly, no T592 mutants were able to restrict WT HIV-1 in cycling cells, despite not being regulated by phosphorylation and retaining their ability to hydrolyse dNTPs. Lowering dNTP levels by addition of hydroxyurea did not give rise to restriction. Compellingly however, HIV-1 RT mutants with reduced affinity for dNTPs were significantly restricted by wild-type and T592 mutant SAMHD1 in both cycling U937 cells and Jurkat T-cells. Restriction correlated with reverse transcription levels. Conclusions Altogether, we found that the amino acid at residue 592 has a strong effect on tetramer formation and, although this is not a simple “on/off” switch, this does correlate with the ability of SAMHD1 to restrict HIV-1 replication in differentiated cells. However, preventing phosphorylation of SAMHD1 and/or lowering dNTP levels by adding hydroxyurea was not enough to restore restriction in cycling cells. Nonetheless, lowering the affinity of HIV-1 RT for dNTPs, showed that restriction is mediated by dNTP levels and we were able to observe for the first time that SAMHD1 is active and capable of inhibiting HIV-1 replication in cycling cells, if the affinity of RT for dNTPs is reduced. This suggests that the very high affinity of HIV-1 RT for dNTPs prevents HIV-1 restriction by SAMHD1 in cycling cells.

Infection with Listeria monocytogenes in twin pregnancy is rare but devastating, which puts forwards a great challenge for clinical management. Here, a 24-year-old woman was diagnosed with twin pregnancy, intrauterine death of one fetus and fever at 29+4 week of gestation. Two days later, she developed into pericardial effusion, pneumonedema and potential septic shock. The emergent cesarean delivery was performed after anti-shock treatment. One alive and another dead fetus were delivered. Then, she developed postpartum hemorrhage after the surgery. Urgent exploratory laparotomy was conducted at the sites of cesarean section and B-Lynch suture to stop bleeding. The culture of blood and maternal side of both placentas indicated Listeria monocytogenes. Following anti-infection therapy with ampicillin-sulbactam, she recovered well and discharged with negative result of blood bacterial culture and normal inflammatory indicators. The patient was hospitalized for a total of 18 days including 2 days in the intensive care unit (ICU), and the anti-infection treatment was conducted throughout the course. Symptoms of the Listeria monocytogenes infection in pregnancy are non-specific, which should be paid more attention in case of unexplained fever and fetal distress. The blood culture is effective for accurate diagnosis. Listeria monocytogenes infection is associated with poor pregnancy outcomes. Close monitoring of fetal condition, early intervention with antibiotics, timely termination of pregnancy and comprehensive management of complications are essential for better prognosis.Keywords: Listeria monocytogenes, twin pregnancy, outcomes

From the level of the nursing team, this study explored the relationship between team roles, using teamwork as the intermediate variable, and team performance to provide a theoretical foundation for the human resource management of nursing managers.Methods: Taking 29 general inpatient areas of a tertiary general hospital in Beijing as research objects, a questionnaire survey was used to collect basic information on nursing staff, teamwork, team roles and team performance. The collected data were analysed. A pathway analysis based on a multiple regression analysis was used to interpret the effect of each team role on teamperformance.Results: ①The mean and maximum value of emotional type (Teamworker and Finisher) were the largest in the role combination of nursing team. In the team role combination, the average value of emotional type was 12.58 ± 1.48, with significant difference (P< 0.001). ② The average level of emotion, thinking and decision of team role combination is positively correlated with work performance; The average level and maximum value of emotion have a positive correlation with team cooperation; The average level of willingness was negatively correlated with team cooperation, job performance and satisfaction (P< 0.05). ③ Teamwork plays a certain intermediary role in the mean value of emotion to improve level of team satisfaction and performance.Conclusion: This study identified the important roles of different types of nursing staff in work performance and used a pathway analysis to create a path showing each role. All patients were of Chinese nationality, and 240 valid questionnaires were obtained. The Family Assessment Device and Champion’s Health Belief Model Scale were used to collect patients’ family functioning and health beliefs information, and correlation analysis was used to analyse it.Results: The total score for family functioning in patients with stroke was 130.5 (22). The highest mean score was 2.46 for behaviour control, and the lowest score was 2.00 for total function. The items were ranked from high to low in this order: behaviour control, emotional response, role, communication, emotional intervention, problem solving and total function. The total score of the patients’ health beliefs was 116 (33), The items were ranked from high to low in this order: were self-efficacy, health motivation, perceived benefit, susceptibility, severity and perceived impairment. The scores for family functioning were negatively correlated with the total scores for health beliefs (P < 0.05).Discussion: Stroke can reduce the self-care ability of the patients and aggravate the burden of family care. This can lead to abnormal function roles for patients and their families, emotional reactions in patients with stroke and weaker levels of family functioning.Conclusion: The health beliefs scores of patients with stroke were at the middle level, and family functioning was at the general level. For the identified gene, pseudouridine synthase 1 (PUS1), was used for further research. The clinicopathological feature of PUS1 was analyzed by Student’s t-test. Prognostic significance was explored by Kaplan-Meier (KM) analysis and Cox proportional hazards regression model. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was applied to appraise diagnostic and prognostic value. The Database for Annotation, Visualization, and Integrated Discovery (DAVID) and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) were implemented to explore mechanism of PUS1. A Guangxi cohort was applied to verify differential expression. In vitro cell experiments were implemented to investigate the influence for proliferation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, migration, and invasion of HCC cells after a knockdown of PUS1.Results: PUS1 was significantly overexpressed in HCC tissues, and patients with high PUS1 were related to unpromising clinicopathological features. Survival analysis revealed high PUS1 expression was associated with a poor overall survival (OS) and 1 year-recurrence free survival (RFS), was an independent risk factor. Meanwhile, ROC curve showed that PUS1 had a diagnostic and prognostic significance to HCC. Functional enrichment analysis implied that PUS1 may be involved in metabolic pathways, mitochondrial function, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and some important carcinogenic pathways. Abstract: Some low-mass planets are expected to be ejected from their parent planetary systems during early stages of planetary system formation. According to planet-formation theories, such as the core accretion theory, typical masses of ejected planets should be between 0.3 and 1.0 $M_{\oplus}$. Although in practice such objects do not emit any light, they may be detected using gravitational microlensing via their light-bending gravity. Microlensing events due to terrestrial-mass rogue planets are expected to have extremely small angular Einstein radii (< 1 uas) and extremely short timescales (< 0.1 day). Here, we present the discovery of the shortest-timescale microlensing event, OGLE-2016-BLG-1928, identified to date ($t_{\rm E} \approx 0.0288\ \mathrm{day} = 41.5 \mathrm{min}$). Thanks to the detection of finite-source effects in the light curve of the event, we were able to measure the angular Einstein radius of the lens $\theta_{\rm E} = 0.842 \pm 0.064$ uas, making the event the most extreme short-timescale microlens discovered to date. Depending on its unknown distance, the lens may be a Mars- to Earth-mass object, with the former possibility favored by the Gaia proper motion measurement of the source. The planet may be orbiting a star but we rule out the presence of stellar companions up to the projected distance of 8.0 au from the planet. Abstract: The Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) is designed to move the field of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) to the energy and intensity frontier of particle physics. Exploiting energy recovery technology, it collides a novel, intense electron beam with a proton or ion beam from the High Luminosity--Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). The accelerator and interaction region are designed for concurrent electron-proton and proton-proton operation. This report represents an update of the Conceptual Design Report (CDR) of the LHeC, published in 2012. It comprises new results on parton structure of the proton and heavier nuclei, QCD dynamics, electroweak and top-quark physics. It is shown how the LHeC will open a new chapter of nuclear particle physics in extending the accessible kinematic range in lepton-nucleus scattering by several orders of magnitude. Due to enhanced luminosity, large energy and the cleanliness of the hadronic final states, the LHeC has a strong Higgs physics programme and its own discovery potential for new physics. Building on the 2012 CDR, the report represents a detailed updated design of the energy recovery electron linac (ERL) including new lattice, magnet, superconducting radio frequency technology and further components. Challenges of energy recovery are described and the lower energy, high current, 3-turn ERL facility, PERLE at Orsay, is presented which uses the LHeC characteristics serving as a development facility for the design and operation of the LHeC. An updated detector design is presented corresponding to the acceptance, resolution and calibration goals which arise from the Higgs and parton density function physics programmes. The paper also presents novel results on the Future Circular Collider in electron-hadron mode, FCC-eh, which utilises the same ERL technology to further extend the reach of DIS to even higher centre-of-mass energies., Comment: 373 pages, many figures, to be published by J. Abstract: Motivated by the recent Xenon1T result, we study a leptophilic flavour-dependent anomaly-free axion-like particle (ALP) and its effects on charged-lepton flavour violation (CLFV). We present two representative models. The first one considers that the ALP origins from the flavon that generates the charged-lepton masses. The second model assumes a larger flavour symmetry such that more general mixings in the charged-lepton are possible, while maintaining flavour-dependent ALP couplings. We find that a keV ALP explaining the Xenon1T result is still viable for lepton flavour violation and stellar cooling astrophysical limits. On the other hand, if the Xenon1T result is confirmed, future CLFV measurements can be complementary to probe such a possibility., Comment: References added, improvements in model II and other small changes. Abstract: We report the analysis of the microlensing event OGLE-2018-BLG-0677. A small feature in the light curve of the event leads to the discovery that the lens is a star-planet system. Although there are two degenerate solutions that could not be distinguished for this event, both lead to a similar planet-host mass ratio. We perform a Bayesian analysis based on a Galactic model to obtain the properties of the system and find that the planet corresponds to a super-Earth/sub-Neptune with a mass $M_{\mathrm{planet}} = {3.96}^{+5.88}_{-2.66}\mathrm{M_\oplus}$. The host star has a mass $ M_{\mathrm{host}} = {0.12}^{+0.14}_{-0.08}\mathrm{M_\odot}$. The projected separation for the inner and outer solutions are ${0.63}^{+0.20}_{-0.17}$~AU and ${0.72}^{+0.23}_{-0.19}$~AU respectively. At $\Delta\chi^2=\chi^2({\rm 1L1S})-\chi^2({\rm 2L1S})=46$, this is by far the lowest $\Delta\chi^2$ for any securely-detected microlensing planet to date, a feature that is closely connected to the fact that it is detected primarily via a "dip" rather than a "bump"., Comment: 15 page, 12 figures, Published in AJ

Abstract: High-cadence observations of the Galactic bulge by the microlensing surveys led to the discovery of a handful of extremely short-timescale microlensing events that can be attributed to free-floating or wide-orbit planets. Here, we report the discovery of another strong free-floating planet candidate, which was found from the analysis of the gravitational microlensing event OGLE-2019-BLG-0551. The light curve of the event is characterized by a very short duration (<3 d) and a very small amplitude (< 0.1 mag). From modeling of the light curve, we find that the Einstein timescale, tE = 0.381 +/- 0.017 d, is much shorter, and the angular Einstein radius, thetaE = 4.35 +/- 0.34 uas, is much smaller than those of typical lensing events produced by stellar-mass lenses (tE ~ 20 d, thetaE ~ 0.3 mas), indicating that the lens is very likely to be a planetary-mass object. We conduct an extensive search for possible signatures of a companion star in the light curve of the event, finding no significant evidence for the putative host star. The study was designed to explore the effects of esketamine on postoperative cognitive function in elderly patients who underwent gastrointestinal surgery under general anesthesia and its potential mechanism.Methods: Eighty-four patients aged 65 and above undergoing gastrointestinal surgery were randomly divided into 2 groups: the esketamine group (group S) and the control group (group C). Group S received intravenous sub-anesthetic doses of esketamine (0.15 mg/kg) 5 minutes before the initiation of surgery, while group C received the same volume of saline. A battery of neuropsychological tests was used to assess cognitive function before surgery, 7 days, and 3 months after surgery. The primary outcome was the incidence of dNCR at 7 days postoperatively and POCD at 3 months postoperatively in both groups. The secondary outcome measures included changes in the levels of serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) and calcium-binding protein β (S100β) before and 1 day after surgery.Results: The incidence of dNCR in group S was lower than that of group C (18.15% vs 38.24% P=0.033). Contrarily, there was no difference in both groups regarding POCD 3 months postoperatively (6.06% vs 14.37% P=0.247). Plasma IL-6 and S100β levels were significantly elevated in both groups on postoperative day 1 (p< 0.05), but esketamine pretreatment reduced these levels to some extent compared with group C (p< 0.05).Conclusion: Sub-anesthetic doses of esketamine might reduce the incidence of dNCR and improve early postoperative cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery, which might be related to the anti-neuroinflammation effects of esketamine.Keywords: esketamine, perioperative neurocognitive disorders, gastrointestinal surgery, elderly, neuroinflammatory

Two-stage hepatectomy (TSH) combined with translational therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with SIT has been rarely reported. We report a 41-year-old man with giant hepatocellular carcinoma (71 mm × 55 mm × 51 mm) whose future residual liver (FLR) and standard liver volume (SLV) ratio at first diagnosis was 37.4%. Preoperative volume assessment of portal vein ligation (PVL) revealed inadequate hypertrophy of FLR. After a multidisciplinary group discussion (MDT), the patient decided to follow conversion therapy. Three months later, ratio of the FLR/SLV increased from 37.4% to 71% after operation, which met the surgical requirements. Second hepatectomy, right lobectomy was successful. There was no recurrence after six months of follow-up. In our case, conversion therapy appears to be effective in maintaining residual liver hyperplasia, reducing tumor load, and preventing tumor progression in patients with large HCC during TSH.Keywords: situs inversus totalis, two-stage hepatectomy, hepatocellular carcinoma, future residual liver, multidisciplinary group discussion

In the cross-sectional study, patients were divided into the treatment (233 patients) and non-treatment (156 patients) groups based on whether they received treatment for BPH/LUTS. In the prospective self-case-control study, we included 129 of the non-treatment group patients who received oral BPH/LUTS medication and completed the 6-month outpatient follow-up. We compared prostate indicators and renal function in the cross-sectional study and baseline and after-treatment data in the prospective self-case-control study. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed for risk factors affecting renal function before and after BPH/LUTS treatment.Results: In the cross-sectional study, renal function was significantly better in the treatment group than in the non-treatment group. In the subgroup analysis of the prospective self-case-control study, renal function significantly improved after treatment among patients with hypertension and those with chronic kidney disease (CKD) 3a, but not in the entire cohort. Multivariable linear regression analysis showed that hypertension (β=2.06, 95% CI 0.40 to 3.71) and CKD 3a (β=17.16, 95% CI 15.53 to 18.79) were independent risk factors for creatinine differences before and after treatment, whereas hypertension (β=− 2.27, 95% CI − 3.65 to − 0.89), CKD 3a (β=− 11.93, 95% CI − 13.29 to − 10.58), and baseline prostate volume (β=− 0.11, 95% CI − 0.20 to − 0.02) were independent risk factors for estimated glomerular filtration rate differences before and after treatment.Conclusion: Treatment for moderate and severe BPH/LUTS can improve renal function in elderly patients with hypertension or CKD 3a.Keywords: benign prostatic hyperplasia, lower urinary tract symptoms, renal function, elderly men, drug therapy

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a real-time free-running time scale based on four remote hydrogen masers. The clocks in the ensemble were scattered around Beijing, connected by urban fiber links using a novel frequency synchronization system. The remote clock ensemble prevents the time scale from potential problems caused by correlation among co-located clocks. Insofar as it is real-time, it fulfills the requirements for applications such as navigation, telecommunications and so on. The free-running time scale is updated every 1200 s, and a disturbance-resistant algorithm makes it robust to fiber link disturbances and clock malfunctions. The results of a continuous experiment over 224 days are reported. The stability of the time scale outperformed any clock in the ensemble for averaging times of more than approximately 10000 s.

Abstract: We report two microlensing planet candidates discovered by the KMTNet survey in $2017$. However, both events have the 2L1S/1L2S degeneracy, which is an obstacle to claiming the discovery of the planets with certainty unless the degeneracy can be resolved. For KMT-2017-BLG-0962, the degeneracy cannot be resolved. If the 2L1S solution is correct, KMT-2017-BLG-0962 might be produced by a super Jupiter-mass planet orbiting a mid-M dwarf host star. For KMT-2017-BLG-1119, the light curve modeling favors the 2L1S solution but higher-resolution observations of the baseline object tend to support the 1L2S interpretation rather than the planetary interpretation. This degeneracy might be resolved by a future measurement of the lens-source relative proper motion. Abstract: Gaia16aye was a binary microlensing event discovered in the direction towards the northern Galactic disc and was one of the first microlensing events detected and alerted to by the Gaia space mission. Its light curve exhibited five distinct brightening episodes, reaching up to I=12 mag, and it was covered in great detail with almost 25,000 data points gathered by a network of telescopes. We present the photometric and spectroscopic follow-up covering 500 days of the event evolution. We employed a full Keplerian binary orbit microlensing model combined with the motion of Earth and Gaia around the Sun to reproduce the complex light curve. The photometric data allowed us to solve the microlensing event entirely and to derive the complete and unique set of orbital parameters of the binary lensing system. We also report on the detection of the first-ever microlensing space-parallax between the Earth and Gaia located at L2. The properties of the binary system were derived from microlensing parameters, and we found that the system is composed of two main-sequence stars with masses 0.57$\pm$0.05 $M_\odot$ and 0.36$\pm$0.03 $M_\odot$ at 780 pc, with an orbital period of 2.88 years and an eccentricity of 0.30. We also predict the astrometric microlensing signal for this binary lens as it will be seen by Gaia as well as the radial velocity curve for the binary system. Events such as Gaia16aye indicate the potential for the microlensing method of probing the mass function of dark objects, including black holes, in directions other than that of the Galactic bulge. Abstract: We report two microlensing events, KMT-2017-BLG-1038 and KMT-2017-BLG-1146 that are caused by planetary systems. These events were discovered by KMTNet survey observations from the $2017$ bulge season. The discovered systems consist of a planet and host star with mass ratios, $5.3_{-0.4}^{+0.2} \times 10^{-3}$ and $2.0_{-0.1}^{+0.6} \times 10^{-3}$, respectively. Based on a Bayesian analysis assuming a Galactic model without stellar remnant hosts, we find that the planet, KMT-2017-BLG-1038Lb, is a super Jupiter-mass planet ($M_{\rm p}= 2.04_{-1.15}^{+2.02}\,M_{\rm J}$) orbiting a mid-M dwarf host ($M_{\rm h}= 0.37_{-0.20}^{+0.36}\, M_{\odot}$) that is located at $6.01_{-1.72}^{+1.27}$ kpc toward the Galactic bulge. The other planet, KMT-2017-BLG-1146Lb, is a sub Jupiter-mass planet ($M_{\rm p}= 0.71_{-0.42}^{+0.80}\,M_{\rm J}$) orbiting a mid-M dwarf host ($M_{\rm h}= 0.33_{-0.20}^{+0.36}\,M_{\odot}$) at a distance toward the Galactic bulge of $6.50_{-2.00}^{+1.38}$ kpc. Both are potentially gaseous planets that are beyond their hosts' snow lines. Abstract: We present an analysis of the microlensing event OGLE-2015-BLG-0232. This event is challenging to characterize for two reasons. First, the light curve is not well sampled during the caustic crossing due to the proximity of the full Moon impacting the photometry quality. Moreover, the source brightness is difficult to estimate because this event is blended with a nearby K dwarf star. We found that the light curve deviations are likely due to a close brown dwarf companion (i.e., s = 0.55 and q = 0.06), but the exact nature of the lens is still unknown. Abstract: Planet formation theories predict the existence of free-floating planets that have been ejected from their parent systems. Although they emit little or no light, they can be detected during gravitational microlensing events. Microlensing events caused by rogue planets are characterized by very short timescales $t_{\rm E}$ (typically below two days) and small angular Einstein radii $\theta_{\rm E}$ (up to several uas). Here we present the discovery and characterization of two ultra-short microlensing events identified in data from the Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment (OGLE) survey, which may have been caused by free-floating or wide-orbit planets. OGLE-2012-BLG-1323 is one of the shortest events discovered thus far ($t_{\rm E}$=0.155 +/- 0.005 d, $\theta_{\rm E}$=2.37 +/- 0.10 uas) and was caused by an Earth-mass object in the Galactic disk or a Neptune-mass planet in the Galactic bulge. OGLE-2017-BLG-0560 ($t_{\rm E}$=0.905 +/- 0.005 d, $\theta_{\rm E}$=38.7 +/- 1.6 uas) was caused by a Jupiter-mass planet in the Galactic disk or a brown dwarf in the bulge. We rule out stellar companions up to a distance of 6.0 and 3.9 au, respectively. We suggest that the lensing objects, whether located on very wide orbits or free-floating, may originate from the same physical mechanism. This prospective study aimed to examine whether unilateral ICPB with different concentrations of ropivacaine resulted in the diaphragmatic dysfunction in unilateral thyroidectomy.Methods: A total of 54 patients scheduled to undergo unilateral thyroidectomy under general anesthesia were randomly allocated to receive either 10 mL of 0.3% (Group L) or 0.5% (Group H) ropivacaine for ICPB. General anesthesia was then administered for surgery. The diaphragm thickness and diaphragmatic excursion were measured at three different times: before the ICPB, at 40 min and 4 h after the block. The primary outcome was the incidence of diaphragmatic dysfunction of the block side at 40 min and 4 h after ICPB. Secondary outcomes included the maximum pain score within 24 h after the surgery, rescue analgesics within 24 h after the surgery, and time to first ambulation.Results: The incidence of diaphragmatic dysfunction on the block side of Group H was higher than that of Group L at 40 min after block (58% vs 29%, P = 0.01). However, the incidence of diaphragmatic dysfunction was comparable between Group H and Group L (65% vs 46%) at 4 h after block placement. Within 24 h after the operation, the maximum VAS pain score of Group H was significantly lower than Group L (P = 0.04), and fewer patients in Group H required rescue analgesics (P < 0.01).Conclusion: The ICPB with different concentrations of ropivacaine can induce the ipsilateral diaphragmatic dysfunction. Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) is a cytosol dsDNA sensor, coupling with downstream stimulator of interferon genes (STING) located in the ER, which involves innate immune responses. The aim of our present study was to investigate the effects of cGAS on lung I/R injury via regulating ERS.Methods: We used Sprague-Dawley rats to make the lung I/R model by performing left hilum occlusion-reperfusion surgery. cGAS-specific inhibitor RU.521, STING agonist SR-717, and 4-phenylbutyric acid (4-PBA), the ERS inhibitor, were intraperitoneally administered in rats. Double immunofluorescent staining was applied to detect the colocalization of cGAS or BiP, an ERS protein, with alveolar epithelial type II cells (AECIIs) marker. We used transmission electron microscopy to examine the ultrastructure of ER and mitochondria. Apoptosis and oxidative stress in the lungs were assessed, respectively. The profiles of pulmonary edema and lung tissue injury were evaluated. And the pulmonary ventilation function was measured using a spirometer system.Results: In lung I/R rats, the cGAS-STING pathway was upregulated, which implied they were activated. After cGAS-STING pathway was inhibited or activated in lung I/R rats, the ERS was alleviated after cGAS was inhibited, while when STING was activated after lung I/R, ERS was aggravated in the AECIIs, these results suggested that cGAS-STING pathway might trigger ERS responses. Furthermore, activation of cGAS-STING pathway induced increased apoptosis, inflammation, and oxidative stress via regulating ERS and therefore resulted in pulmonary edema and pathological injury in the lungs of I/R rats. Inhibition of cGAS-STING pathway attenuated ERS, therefore attenuated lung injury and promoted pulmonary ventilation function in I/R rats.Conclusion: Inhibition of the cGAS-STING pathway attenuates lung ischemia/reperfusion injury via alleviating endoplasmic reticulum stress in alveolar epithelial type II cells of rats.Graphical Abstract: Keywords: cGAS-STING, endoplasmic reticulum stress, alveolar epithelial type II cells, lung ischemia/reperfusion injury

First, an initial draft of the questionnaire was formed by conducting a literature review supplemented by semi-structured interviews and modified using the Delphi method. A total of 287 patients who had suffered a stroke were selected for the formal survey using the convenience sampling method. Further item screening was performed using an item analysis and an exploratory factor analysis, and reliability testing was also performed.Results: The scale consisted of 34 entries in the following 6 dimensions: severity, susceptibility, internal and external rewards, response efficacy, response cost and self-efficacy. The overall Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.935, with correlation coefficients between dimensions and total scale scores ranging from 0.604 to 0.805 (P < 0.05) and correlation coefficients between dimensions ranging from 0.154 to 0.537 (P < 0.05).Conclusion: The protective motivation scale prepared in this study was tested and had good reliability, so this scale can be used as a scientific tool to evaluate the implementation of secondary prevention strategies for protective motivation of patients who have suffered a stroke.Keywords: stroke, protection motivation, health belief
