Despite advances in our understanding of low luminosity active galactic nuclei (LLAGNs), the fundamental details about the mechanisms of radiation and flare/outburst in hot accretion flow are still largely missing. We have systematically analyzed the archival Chandra and NuSTAR X-ray data of the nearby LLAGN M81*, whose $L_{\rm bol}\sim 10^{-5} L_{\rm Edd}$. Through a detailed study of X-ray light curve and spectral properties, we find that the X-ray continuum emission of the power-law shape more likely originates from inverse Compton scattering within the hot accretion flow. In contrast to Sgr A*, flares are rare in M81*. Low-amplitude variation can only be observed in soft X-ray band (amplitude usually $\lesssim 2$). Several simple models are tested, including sinusoidal-like and quasi-periodical. Based on a comparison of the dramatic differences of flare properties among Sgr A*, M31* and M81*, we find that, when the differences in both the accretion rate and the black hole mass are considered, the flares in LLAGNs can be understood universally in a magneto-hydrodynamical model., 11 pages, 8 figures, and 4 tables. Objective: To investigate the incidence of neonatal birth defects in assisted reproductive technology (ART) by in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Methods: The clinical data of 4229 cases of singleton deliver by infertile patients under 35 years old who received IVF/ICSI-ET in our center were analyzed. According to different fertilization methods, they were divided into IVF group (2967 cases) and ICSI group (1262 cases). The general situation of birth, birth defects and the location of defects were compared between the two groups. Results: a total of 38 cases of neonatal birth defects were found, the incidence of birth defects was 0.89%, including 30 cases (1.01%) in IVF group and 8 cases (0.64%) in ICSI group. There was no significant difference in the incidence of birth defects between the two groups (P > 0.05). There was also no significant difference in birth weight, gestational age and gender ratio between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Different fertilization methods in assisted reproductive technology do not increase the incidence of neonatal birth defects.

The observation of varying broad iron lines during the state transition of the black hole X-ray binaries (BHXBs) have been accumulating.In this work, the relation between the normalized intensity and the width of iron lines is investigated, in order to understand better the variation of iron lines and possibly its connection to state transition. Considering the uncertainties due to ionization and illuminating X-rays, only the effects of geometry and gravity are taken into account. Three scenarios were studied, i.e., the continuous disk model, innermost annulus model, and the cloud model. As shown by our calculations, at given iron width, the line flux of the cloud model is smaller than that of the continuous disk model; while for the innermost annulus model, the width is almost unrelated with the flux. The range of the line strength depends on both the BH spin and the inclination of the disk. We then apply to the observation of MAXI J1631-479 by NuSTAR during its decay from the soft state to the intermediate state. We estimated the relative line strength and width according to the spectral fitting results by Xu et al.(2020), and then compared with our theoretical width-flux relation. It was found that the cloud model was more favored. We further modeled the iron line profiles, and found that the cloud model can explain both the line profile and its variation with reasonable parameters., 7 figures, 12 pages, accepted for publication in RAA

This paper focuses on the three-dimensional guidance strategy for a reusable launching vehicle (RLV) during terminal area energy management (TAEM) phase. Based on sliding mode and shrinking horizon techniques, the proposed scheme consists of trajectory generation and correction mechanisms, which can enhance the guidance precision and robustness against disturbances. The RLV guidance model, in the form of a set of highly non-linear differential equations in time-domain, is recast as an altitude-domain model. By this means, the main characteristics of TAEM gliding motion are extracted. The altitude-domain model is thereby used for trajectory generation. A sliding surface and guidance law are proposed. Hybrid TAEM constraints can be fully satisfied when the proposed guidance law drives the altitude-domain vehicle model to the designated altitude. Using the proposed guidance law as the input of altitude-domain model, a constrained TAEM trajectory is generated, leading to TAEM guidance commands simultaneously. The commands are utilized to drive the time-domain model to the terminal target. In an attempt to compensate for model uncertainties and initial deviations, the guidance commands are modified periodically by shrinking-horizon correction mechanism according to current states. Simulations on different scenarios are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed guidance strategy.

ObjectiveThe aim of the study was to evaluate the clinicopathological features, as well as the surgical prognosis, of epilepsy-associated gangliogliomas (GG) with CD34 expression and BRAFV600E mutation.MethodsClinical data of patients who underwent epilepsy surgery for GG were retrospectively studied. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate the correlations of clinical and pathological factors with molecular markers of CD34 expression and BRAFV600E mutation in GG.ResultsA total of 208 patients with GG had immunohistochemical detection of CD34 expression (positive/negative: 184/24), and among them, 89 patients had immunohistochemical detection of BRAFV600E mutation (positive/negative: 54/35). By univariate and multivariate analyses, seizure aura (p = 0.025), concordance of ictal electroencephalogram (EEG) findings (p = 0.045) and medial temporal tumor (p = 0.030) were found to be related to CD34 expression, but only hospitalization time (p = 0.042) was different for BRAF-mutated status. In addition, drug-resistant epilepsy (p = 0.040) and concordance of interictal EEG findings (p = 0.009) were found to be associated with tumor progression-free survival (PFS) in univariate analysis, but only concordance of interictal EEG findings was with significance in multivariate analysis. However, CD34 expression or BRAFV600E mutation in GG was not found to be associated with surgical outcomes of seizure control and tumor PFS.ConclusionThe CD34 expression or BRAFV600E mutation in GG may partly influence the distribution of clinicopathological features of patients with epilepsy, but they may be not able to predict the surgical prognosis of seizure outcome and tumor recurrence.

A new virus of the genus Polerovirus in the family Solemoviridae was identified in Bidens Pilosa displaying mosaic and mottle symptoms. Its nearly complete genome of 5,705 nucleotides (nt) contains seven open reading frames (ORFs). The virus shares nucleotide sequence identities 53.2–67.1% with other poleroviruses at whole genome level. The amino acid (aa) sequence identities of each of the five ORFs are less than 84% between the new virus and other known poleroviruses. Phylogenetic analyses showed that the virus was most closely related to beet western yellows virus and cucurbit aphid-borne yellows virus in the genus Polerovirus. Our results suggest that this virus, named “bidens polerovirus 1 (BiPV-1)”, should be a distinct member of the genus Polerovirus. Recombination analysis of the genome sequence of the virus showed that BiPV-1 is a recombinant of the species of two different genera of the family Solemoviridae.

Path planning problem is attracting wide attention in autonomous system and process industry system. The existed research mainly focuses on finding the shortest path from the source vertex to the termination vertex under loose constraints of vertex and edge. However, in realistic, the constraints such as specified vertexes, specified paths, forbidden paths and forbidden vertexes have to be considered, which makes the existing algorithms inefficient even infeasible. Aiming at solving the problems of complex path planning with multiple routing constraints, this paper organizes transforms the constraints into appropriate mathematical analytic expressions. Then, in order to overcome the defects of existing coding and optimization algorithms, an adaptive strategy for the vertex priority is proposed in coding, and an efficient and global optimization methodology based on swarm intelligence algorithms is put forward, which can make full use of the high efficiency of the local optimization algorithm and the high search ability of the global optimization algorithm. Moreover, the optimal convergence condition of the methodology is proved theoretically. Finally, two experiments are inducted, and the results demonstrated its efficiency and superiority.

Considering the advantages of contactless fault diagnosis, a novel sound based fault diagnosis method for railway point machines (RPMs) is proposed. Firstly, a denoising method based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is proposed. The useful intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) are selected using kurtosis and energy criteria to reconstruct the denoised signal. Then, multi-scale fractional permutation entropy (MFPE) is proposed inspired by fractional calculus, which is more powerful than the classical multi-scale permutation entropy (MPE). And a two-scale algorithm is developed to avoid neglecting the information contained at the end of the signals in the coarse-graining process. Finally, the feasibility and superiority of the proposed method (D-FMPE-T) based on denoising method and two-scale algorithm are verified using support vector machine optimized by particle swarm optimization (PSO-SVM) through comparing with some commonly used feature extraction and classification methods. Besides, CWRU is also utilized for verification of the superiority of the proposed method. Experiment results show that the proposed method performs best. The identification accuracies on normal-reverse and reverse-normal switching processes, and CWRU data sets reach 99.3%, 99%, and 99.17% respectively, demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Railway Point Machines (RPMs) condition monitoring has attracted engineers’ attention due to safe train operation and accident prevention. To realize the fast and accurate fault diagnosis of RPMs, this paper proposes a method based on entropy measurement and Broad Learning System (BLS). Firstly, the Modified Multi-scale Symbolic Dynamic Entropy (MMSDE) module extracts dynamic characteristics from the collected acoustic signals as entropy features. Then the Fuzzy BLS takes the above entropy features as input to complete model training. Fuzzy BLS introduces Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy system into BLS, which improves the model’s classification performance while considering computational speed. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method significantly reduces the running time while maintaining high accuracy.

An important parameter in the theory of hot accretion flows around black holes is $\delta$, which describes the fraction of ``viscously'' dissipated energy in the accretion flow that goes directly into heating electrons. For a given mass accretion rate, the radiative efficiency of a hot accretion flow is determined by $\delta$. Unfortunately, the value of $\delta$ is hard to determine from first principles. The recent Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration (EHTC) results on M87* and Sgr A* provide us with a different way of constraining $\delta$. By combining the mass accretion rates in M87* and Sgr A* estimated by the EHTC with the measured bolometric luminosities of the two sources, we derive good constraints on the radiative efficiencies of the respective accretion flows. In parallel, we use a theoretical model of hot magnetically arrested disks (MAD) to calculate the expected radiative efficiency as a function of $\delta$ (and accretion rate). By comparing the EHTC-derived radiative efficiencies with the theoretical results from MAD models, we find that Sgr A* requires $\delta \ga 0.3$. %with the most likely value being $\delta \sim 0.5$. A similar comparison in the case of M87* gives inconclusive results as there is still a large uncertainty in the accretion rate in this source., Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures. To appear in ApJ

This study aimed to evaluate the surgical outcomes and relevant prognostic factors in patients with low-grade epilepsy-associated neuroepithelial tumors (LEAT) and, especially, to develop a scoring system to predict postoperative seizure outcomes.The clinical data of patients who underwent epilepsy surgery for LEAT were retrospectively studied. The surgical outcomes of seizure and neurological statuses in patients were evaluated using Engel classification and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scoring, respectively. A scoring system of seizure outcomes was constructed based on the weight of the β-coefficient estimate of each predictor in the final multivariate predicting model of seizure outcomes.Of the 287 patients (106 female) enrolled, the median age was 19 years at surgery and 10 years at seizure onset, with a median duration of epilepsy of 60 months. Among 258 patients who were followed up for at least 12 months, 215 (83.3%) patients had a favorable seizure outcome (Engel class I) after surgery, and 43 (16.7%) patients had an unfavorable seizure outcome; longer duration of epilepsy, discordant magnetoencephalography (MEG) findings, and acute postoperative seizures were significantly included in the scoring system to predict unfavorable seizure outcomes, and in the scoring system, accumulated scoring of 0-19 scores was recorded, which were finally grouped into three risk levels: low risk (risk 30%), medium risk (30% ≤ risk 70%), and high risk (risk ≥ 70%). In addition, favorable neurological outcomes (mRS score 0-1) were recorded in 187 (72.5%) patients, while unfavorable neurological outcomes were recorded in 71 (27.5%) patients, which were significantly related to poor seizure control, older age at surgery, and longer duration of epilepsy and hospitalization time.The long-term surgical outcomes of LEAT after surgery were satisfactory. A scoring system for predicting unfavorable seizure outcomes with different risk levels was developed, which could partly guide clinical treatments of LEAT.

Coarse quantization by using low-resolution analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) is an attractive approach to relieve the burden of power consumption and hardware cost of implementing massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. In this article, we analyze the uplink spectral efficiency of a multiuser massive MIMO system with low-resolution ADCs in the context of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) under multipath channels. Firstly, we develop an efficient pilot scheme which results in a constant average power of the quantization noise for different channel delay power spectrums and also minimizes the mean squared error of channel estimation. Then a tight approximation of the uplink achievable rate is derived in a closed form considering both perfect channel state information (CSI) and estimated CSI. Then we analyze the impact of multipath channels on the system performance. Under perfect CSI, we discover that an increment of multipath taps has a positive impact on compensating the performance degradation due to the quantization noise. Under imperfect CSI, the most beneficial channel is uniformly distributed over a specific number of taps. Simulations are conducted to verify our analytical results.

Conventionally, the transition probabilities in the interacting multiple model (IMM) are often fixed based on the prior information. However, this conservative setting may result in inaccurate state estimations. To solve this problem, a Bayesian-based online correction function is proposed in this paper, which can adaptively adjust the transition probabilities. To deal with the response lag and the short-term peak estimation error problem during the respond to model jump, a model jumping threshold is defined, so that the current information of the models can be fully utilized by the IMM algorithm and the correction function of the transition probabilities can be further improved. Subsequently, an adaptive transition probability-based parallel IMM algorithm is proposed in this paper. Finally, three maneuvering target tracking simulations are conducted to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, the results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the response speed of the system model jump and the state estimation accuracy. The effectiveness and feasibility of the algorithm are proven.

In this paper, we investigate the black hole (BH) spin contribution to jet power, especially for the magnetic arrested disk (MAD), where only inner accretion disk luminosity is closely coupled with the spin-jet power, and try to explain the ‘outliers’ track of the radio LR to X-ray luminosity LX in two black hole X-ray binaries (BHXBs). Our results suggest that the BZ-jet and the inner-disk coupling could account for the ‘outliers’ track of the radio/X-ray correlation in two BHXBs, H1743-322 and MAXI J1348-630. Although the accretion disk of H1743-322 in the outburst could be in the MAD state, there is a lower probability that MAXI J1348-630 is in the MAD state due to its low jet production efficiency. The difference in the inner-disk bolometric luminosity ratio of the two sources implies that these two BHXBs are in different inner-disk accretion states. We further investigate the phase-changing regime of MAXI J1348-630 and find that there is a phase transition around LX/LEdd∼10−3. The assumption of sub-MAD is discussed as well.

Purpose The aim of the study was to evaluate the cognitive functions and seizure outcomes of patients with low-grade epilepsy-associated neuroepithelial tumors (LEATs). Methods We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of patients who underwent preoperative neuropsychological evaluations and subsequent epilepsy surgery for LEATs. The neuropsychological results of full-scaled intelligence quotient (FSIQ) and full-scaled memory quotient (FSMQ) were analyzed, as well as the postoperative seizure outcomes. Results Of the 138 patients included in the study, 59 patients (40.4%) were female and 47 (36.6%) patients were children. We have developed an improved model of X-ray emission from optically thin, two-temperature accretion flows, \texttt{kerrflow}, using an exact Monte Carlo treatment of global Comptonization as well as with a fully general relativistic description of both the radiative and hydrodynamic processes. It also includes pion-decay electrons, whose synchrotron emission dominates the seed photons yield at high accretion rates in flows around supermassive black holes. We consider in detail the dependence of the model spectra on the black hole spin, the electron heating efficiency, the plasma magnetization and the accretion rate, and we discuss feasibility of constraining these parameters by analyzing X-ray spectra of nearby low-luminosity active galactic nuclei. We note some degeneracies which hinder precise estimations of these parameters when individual X-ray spectra are analyzed. These degeneracies are eliminated when several spectra from a given source are fitted jointly, which then allows us to reliably measure the model parameters. We find significant differences with previous spectral models of hot-flow emission, related with the computational methods for Comptonization. Background Candidatus Nanohaloarchaeota, an archaeal phylum within the DPANN superphylum, is characterized by limited metabolic capabilities and limited phylogenetic diversity and until recently has been considered to exclusively inhabit hypersaline environments due to an obligate association with Halobacteria. Aside from hypersaline environments, Ca. Nanohaloarchaeota can also have been discovered from deep-subsurface marine sediments. Results Three metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) representing a new order within the Ca. Nanohaloarchaeota were reconstructed from a stratified salt crust and proposed to represent a novel order, Nucleotidisoterales. Genomic features reveal them to be anaerobes capable of catabolizing nucleotides by coupling nucleotide salvage pathways with lower glycolysis to yield free energy. Comparative genomics demonstrated that these and other Ca. Nanohaloarchaeota inhabiting saline habitats use a “salt-in” strategy to maintain osmotic pressure based on the high proportion of acidic amino acids. In contrast, previously described Ca. Nanohaloarchaeota MAGs from geothermal environments were enriched with basic amino acids to counter heat stress. Evolutionary history reconstruction revealed that functional differentiation of energy conservation strategies drove diversification within Ca. Nanohaloarchaeota, further leading to shifts in the catabolic strategy from nucleotide degradation within deeper lineages to polysaccharide degradation within shallow lineages. Conclusions This study provides deeper insight into the ecological functions and evolution of the expanded phylum Ca. Nanohaloarchaeota and further advances our understanding on the functional and genetic associations between potential symbionts and hosts.

Percutaneous computed tomography (CT)-guided transthoracic needle biopsy (TTNB) is a valuable procedure for obtaining tissue or cells for diagnosis, which is especially indispensable in thoracic oncology. Pneumothorax and hemoptysis are the most common complications of percutaneous needle biopsy of the lung. According to reports published over the past decades, pneumothorax incidence in patients who underwent TTNB greatly varies. The morbidity of pneumothorax after CT-guided TTNB depends on several factors, including size and depth of lesions, emphysema, the number of pleural surfaces and fissure crossed, etc. Attention to biopsy planning and technique and post-biopsy precautions help to prevent or minimize potential complications. Many measures can be taken to help prevent the progression of a pneumothorax, which in turn might reduce the number of pneumothoraces requiring chest tube placement. A multitude of therapeutic options is available for the treatment of pneumothorax, varying from observation and oxygen treatment, simple manual aspiration, to chest tube placement. When a pneumothorax develops during the biopsy procedure, it can be manually aspirated after the needle is retracted back into the pleural space or by inserting a separate needle into the pleural space. Biopsy side down positioning of the patient after biopsy significantly reduces the incidence of pneumothorax and the requirement of chest tube placement. Aspiration in biopsy side down position is also recommended for treating pneumothorax when simple manual aspiration is unsuccessful or delayed pneumothorax occurred. Chest tube placement is an important treatment strategy for patients with a large or symptomatic pneumothorax. Clinicians are encouraged to understand the development, prevention, and treatment of pneumothorax. Efforts should be made to reduce the incidence of pneumothorax in biopsy planning and post-biopsy precautions. When pneumothorax occurs, appropriate treatment should be adopted to reduce the risk of worsening pneumothorax.

Objective To investigate the pathogenesis of primary angle-closure disease (PACG) by measuring the anatomical structures of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye and inflammatory markers in the peripheral blood. Methods This case–control study enrolled patients diagnosed with acute PACG (APACG) and chronic PACG (CPACG). It also enrolled control subjects without PACG. The anterior and posterior anatomical features were measured in all study participants. The levels of interleukin (IL)-6, tumour necrosis factor-α and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in the peripheral blood were measured. Results This study analysed a total of 99 eyes: 34 eyes from 34 patients with APACG, 28 eyes from 28 patients with CPACG and 37 eyes from 37 control patients with senile cataract. The axis length, corneal diameter, anterior chamber depth and anterior chamber volume were significantly smaller in the APACG and CPACG groups compared with the controls. The level of IL-6 in the peripheral blood of patients with PACG was significantly lower than that of the controls. The NLR in the peripheral blood of patients with PACG was significantly greater than that of the controls. Conclusions Changes in the ocular anatomy and some inflammatory markers might be involved in the pathogenesis of PACG.

With the rapid growth of China's economy, technology import plays a crucial role in enhancing regional innovation capability. Based on inter-provincial panel data from 2007 to 2016, this paper uses three benchmark linear regression models of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), Difference-Generalized Method of Moments (DIFF-GMM), and System-Generalized Method of Moments (SYS-GMM) to explore the improvement of China's regional innovation capability by technology import. Then, the regional institutional quality level is measured from the three dimensions of politics, economy, and law, and the two-step difference GMM threshold panel model is used to analyze the effect of technology import on regional innovation capability under different institutional quality conditions. The results show that: (1) In the benchmark linear regression model, technology import has a significant role in promoting regional innovation capability. (2) With the rise of regional corruption, the quality of political institution declines, and the promotion effect of technology import on regional innovation ability is weakened. (3) The improvement of the marketization level and intellectual property protection level strengthen the role of technology introduction in promoting regional innovation capability. On the contrary, in regions with low economic and legal institutional quality, technology import has no significant impact on regional innovation capability.

Two extremely halophilic strains, designated SYSU A558-1T and SYSU A121-1, were isolated from a saline sediment sample collected from Aiding salt lake, China. Cells of strains SYSU A558-1T and SYSU A121-1 were Gram-stain-negative, coccoid, and non-motile. The isolates were aerobic and grew at NaCl concentration of 10-30% (optimum, 20-22%), at 20-55ºC (optimum, 37-42ºC) and at pH 6.5-8.5 (optimum, 7.0-8.0). Cells lysed in distilled water. Major polar lipids were phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol phosphate methyl ester, disulphated diglycosyl diether-1 and one unidentified glycolipid. Phylogenetic analyses based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that the two strains SYSU A558-1T and SYSU A121-1 were closely related to the membranes of the genus Haloterrigena. Phylogenetic trees based on strains SYSU A558-1T and SYSU A121-1 16S rRNA gene sequence, rpoB' gene sequence and concatenation of 87 protein markers demonstrated a robust clade with Haloterrigena turkmenica, Haloterrigena salifodinae and Haloterrigena salina. The genomic DNA G+C contents of strains SYSU A558-1T and SYSU A121-1 were 65.8 and 65.0%, respectively. Phenotypic, chemotaxonomic characteristics and phylogenetic properties suggested that the two strains SYSU A558-1T and SYSU A121-1 represent a novel species of the genus Haloterrigena, for which the name Haloterrigena gelatinilytica sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is SYSU A558-1T (= KCTC 4259T = CGMCC 1.15953T).

Multi-stage solar desalination running under vacuum is a low-cost, effective and sustainable way to mitigate fresh water shortage. However, questions remain on the operation pressure (Pop) and stage number of the multi-stage solar still. To address these questions, a predictive model was developed for the yield of multi-stage tubular solar still under vacuum (MSSV) and validated against field experiments. A 3-stage tubular still under typical weather (i.e. 19.75 MJ/m2 cumulative solar radiation) produced maximum water yield (7.15 kg/m2) with optimal Pop (48 kPa), much higher than under normal (5.81 kg/m2) and lower pressure (1.58 kg/m2 with Pop=20kPa). At optimal Pop, a delicate balance exists between the energy adsorbed and dissipated. Stronger solar intensity leads to more water yield and higher optimal Pop, while increasing the stage number improved the fresh water yield with diminishing marginal effect and slightly shifted the optimal Pop to a lower value. Using water immersion cooling other than air cooling significantly increased the water yield from 7.15 kg/m2 to 10.51 kg/m2. The MSSV model enriched the fundamental understanding of energy utilization for solar desalination and could serve as a design tool to maximize the performance of multi-stage solar still by optimizing still parameters and geometry.

By analyzing the mechanism of pure air emergency brake for high-speed train, the discrete emergency brake model is established. Aiming at the problem that time-varying hidden parameters cannot be observed directly, the sliding window-based expectation maximization is proposed, and the unobserved time-varying brake parameters are identified. Firstly, the position and size of the sliding window are selected; then, the sliding window-based expectation maximization is used for brake parameter identification; finally, combined with the gradient optimization, the optimal identifications of emergency brake parameters are obtained. The simulation results show that the brake parameters can be identified quickly and accurately by the proposed method. Under uniform noise, the identification errors of friction coefficient and braking ratio are ±0.0068 and ±0.0349, respectively, and the maximum relative errors between the identifications and true values are 2.4807% and 1.3154%, respectively, which can meet the actual requirements of the brake system. The effectiveness and practicability of the proposed model and method are verified.

Two novel strains, designated SYSU L10167T and SYSU L10180T, were isolated from sediment sampled at Dabancheng saline lake in Xinjiang, PR China. A polyphasic approach was used to clarify the taxonomic positions of the two strains. Cells of the isolates were curved ring-like, horseshoe-shaped or rod-shaped, non-motile and non-spore-forming. Cells were Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, heterotrophic and rose-pigmented. The phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strains SYSU L10167T and SYSU L10180T formed a distinct lineage within the genus Cyclobacterium . Strains SYSU L10167T and SYSU L10180T showed highest similarities to Cyclobacterium jeungdonense KCTC 23150T (98.0 and 97.4%, respectively). Results of genomic analyses (including average nucleotide identity, digital DNA–DNA hybridization and the marker gene tree) and pan-genome analysis further confirmed that strains SYSU L10167T and SYSU L10180T were separate from each other and other species of the genus Cyclobacterium . The draft genomes of the isolates had sizes of 5.5–5.7 Mb and reflected their major physiological capabilities. Based on phenotypic, physiological, chemotaxonomic and genotypic characterization, we propose that the isolates represent two novel species, for which the names Cyclobacterium salsum sp. nov. and Cyclobacterium roseum sp. nov. are proposed. The type strains of the species are SYSU L10167T (=KCTC 72390T=CGMCC 1.17521T) and SYSU L10180T (=KCTC 72391T=CGMCC 1.17278T).
