Abstract Background Anxiety, depression, and Type D personality are strongly correlated with the prognosis of IHD and the effectiveness of therapy. The main purpose of this study was to assess the proportions and associations of anxiety, depression, and Type D personality among clinically stable IHD patients (aged 18–60) treated at an outpatient clinic operated by a government hospital in Sri Lanka, who were diagnosed with IHD within the preceding three months. Methods A cross-sectional study design was analysed using SPSS® version 23.0. The validated Sinhalese version of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was used to measure anxiety and depression, while the DS-14 was used to determine Type D personality traits. Results Among the 399 patients, 29.8% (n = 119) had anxiety, 24.8% (n = 99) had depression, and 24.6% (n = 24.6) had Type D personality. The level of anxiety had a significant association with depression (p = 0.002) and Type D personality (p = 0.003). Furthermore, depression was significantly associated with ethnicity (p = 0.014), occupation (p = 0.010), and type D personality (p = 0.009). Type D personality was the strongest predictor of anxiety, with patients being 1.902 times more likely to experience anxiety (95% CI 1.149–3.148; p = 0.012). Anxiety was a significant predictor of depression, with patients being 1.997 times more likely to experience depression (95% CI 1.210–3.296; p = 0.007). Non-Sinhalese ethnic background was also a significant predictor of depression (OR: 0.240; 95% CI 0.073–0.785; p = 0.018). Anxiety increased the likelihood of having Type D personality traits by 1.899 times (95% CI 1.148–3.143; p = 0.013). Conclusion The current study recommends the importance of screening and treating the psychological risk factors of IHD patients parallel to their IHD treatment to improve their prognosis. These insights highlight the need for targeted interventions that address depression, anxiety and the impact of Type D personality traits in enhancing the overall management and prognosis of IHD.

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most contagious diseases that has a greater mortality rate than HIV/AIDS and the cases of TB are feared to rise as a repercussion of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pharmaceutical industry is constantly looking for ways to improve drug design processes in order to combat the growth of infections and cure newly identified syndromes or genetically based dysfunctions with the help of QSPR models. QSPR models are mathematical tools that establish relationships between a molecular structure and its physicochemical attributes using structural properties. Topological indices are such properties that are generated from the molecular graph without any empirically derived measurements. This work focuses on developing a QSPR model using distance-based topological indices for anti-tuberculosis medications and their diverse physicochemical features.

The development of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines began in March 2020 in response to a request from the White House Coronavirus Task Force. Within 4 days of the request, the NIH COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel was established and the first meeting took place (virtually-as did subsequent meetings). The Panel comprises 57 individuals representing 6 governmental agencies, 11 professional societies, and 33 medical centers, plus 2 community members, who have worked together to create and frequently update the guidelines on the basis of evidence from the most recent clinical studies available. The initial version of the guidelines was completed within 2 weeks and posted online on 21 April 2020. Initially, sparse evidence was available to guide COVID-19 treatment recommendations. However, treatment data rapidly accrued based on results from clinical studies that used various study designs and evaluated different therapeutic agents and approaches. Data have continued to evolve at a rapid pace, leading to 24 revisions and updates of the guidelines in the first year. This process has provided important lessons for responding to an unprecedented public health emergency: Providers and stakeholders are eager to access credible, current treatment guidelines; governmental agencies, professional societies, and health care leaders can work together effectively and expeditiously; panelists from various disciplines, including biostatistics, are important for quickly developing well-informed recommendations; well-powered randomized clinical trials continue to provide the most compelling evidence to guide treatment recommendations; treatment recommendations need to be developed in a confidential setting free from external pressures; development of a user-friendly, web-based format for communicating with health care providers requires substantial administrative support; and frequent updates are necessary as clinical evidence rapidly emerges.

OBJECTIVES:This study sought to determine whether T2 cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) can stage both hemorrhagic and nonhemorrhagic myocardial infarctions (MIs). BACKGROUND:CMR-based staging of MI with or without contrast agents relies on the resolution of T2 elevations in the chronic phase, but whether this approach can be used to stage both hemorrhagic and nonhemorrhagic MIs is unclear. METHODS:Hemorrhagic (n = 15) and nonhemorrhagic (n = 9) MIs were created in dogs. Multiparametric noncontrast mapping (T1, T2, and T2*) and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) were performed at 1.5- and 3.0-T at 5 days (acute) and 8 weeks (chronic) post-MI. CMR relaxation values and LGE intensities of hemorrhagic, peri-hemorrhagic, nonhemorrhagic, and remote territories were measured. Histopathology was performed to elucidate CMR findings. RESULTS:T2 of nonhemorrhagic MIs was significantly elevated in the acute phase relative to remote territories (1.5-T: 39.8 ± 12.8%; 3.0-T: 27.9 ± 16.5%; p < 0.0001 for both) but resolved to remote values by week 8 (1.5-T: -0.0 ± 3.2%; p = 0.678; 3.0-T: -0.5 ± 5.9%; p = 0.601). In hemorrhagic MI, T2 of hemorrhage core was significantly elevated in the acute phase (1.5-T: 17.7 ± 10.0%; 3.0-T: 8.6 ± 8.2%; p < 0.0001 for both) but decreased below remote values by week 8 (1.5-T: -8.2 ± 3.9%; 3.0-T: -5.6 ± 6.0%; p < 0.0001 for both). Background: Ischemic heart disease (IHD) has been identified as the foremost cause of morbidity and mortality in Sri Lanka. Aims and Objectives: The main aim of this study was to develop a socio-culturally appropriate health counseling intervention protocol to enhance the adherence of prescribed physical activity, diet, and medication among IHD patients attending medical clinics in Sri Lanka. Materials and Methods: This protocol was designed to be used by health professionals and consisted of two sections – an assessment and an intervention. The intervention section integrated communication skills with motivational interviewing, goal setting, and problem-solving. A panel of five experts reviewed each section of the protocol, in a Delphi process. The ratings received at Delphi stage one that was evaluated for degree of consensus. The protocol was modified according to the comments received and resent for a second Delphi round. Again, the re-ratings were reevaluated for the degree of consensus. With regard to assessing consensus, each section was revised/removed if 70% or more of the re-ratings were at 0–3 and kept as the same if 70% or more of the re-ratings were at four or above. Results: All the subsections were rated in categories of four and above in both stages. Therefore, none of the sections was removed from the original protocol. Some modifications were done according to the suggestions received in the Delphi review. Conclusion: The finalized protocol would be initially implemented in selected hospitals in Galle district as a quasi-experimental study in the near future.

Depression and anxiety are major public health issues; however, there is an unmet need for novel, effective, and accessible treatments, particularly in rural communities. Blueberries are an unexplored nutraceutical for these conditions due to their excellent nutritional profile, with particularly high levels of polyphenols and anthocyanins and benefits on mood, cognition, and health. Here, we present a narrative review of the literature concerning the etiology and treatments of major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). In both animal and human studies, blueberry supplementation can ameliorate behavioral symptoms of both anxiety and depression. The mechanistic underpinnings of these behavioral improvements are not fully defined, but likely involve biochemical alterations in the gut–brain axis, including to inflammatory cytokines, reactive oxygen species, and growth factors. We also review the limitations of traditional therapies in rural settings. Finally, we assess the potential benefit of nutraceutical interventions, particularly blueberries, as novel therapeutics for these distinct, yet related mental health issues. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Poor understanding of market demand is a key factor in the recurrent failure of many production-orientated aquaculture interventions. In the Dry-Zone of Sri Lanka stocking-based fisheries enhancements in small-scale reservoirs have been promoted by the State since the 1980's with no evidence of sustainable adoption. Through an evaluation of positive (actual) and normative (aspirational) consumer preferences for inland fish and its substitutes, we aimed to assess underlying reasons for this recurrent failure and future prospects for the policy and rural food-security. Work commenced with a detailed scoping-analysis to establish socio-economic context and a sample frame for systematic surveys. Consumption recall and preference ranking/scoring techniques were applied in two iterative survey phases across 6 villages of Northwest Province. Totals of 39 and 165 respondents were surveyed across the two phases with selection stratified on age, gender, caste and wealth criteria. Results underscored the importance of inland fish to rural food security. Fresh inland fish was consumed by 60% of all respondents at least once per fortnight and by 82% at least once per month with tilapias accounting for 75–85% of meals. Preference for inland fish compared over similarly priced substitutes is attributable to their freshness at point of sale above any other intrinsic product quality. A sequence $$G_0, G_1, G_2, \ldots , G_k$$ G 0 , G 1 , G 2 , … , G k of graphs such that $$G_0=G$$ G 0 = G and $$G_i$$ G i is a 1-fold of $$G_{i-1}$$ G i - 1 for each $$i=1, 2, \ldots , k$$ i = 1 , 2 , … , k is called a uniform k-folding of G if the graphs in the sequence are all singular or all nonsingular. The fold thickness of G is the largest k for which there is a uniform k-folding of G. We show here that the fold thickness of a singular bipartite graph of order n is $$n-3$$ n - 3 . Furthermore, the fold thickness of a nonsingular bipartite graph is 0, i.e., every 1-fold of a nonsingular bipartite graph is singular. We also determine the fold thickness of some well-known families of graphs such as cycles, fans and some wheels. Moreover, we investigate the fold thickness of graphs obtained by performing operations on these families of graphs. Specifically, we determine the fold thickness of graphs obtained from the cartesian product of two graphs and the fold thickness of a disconnected graph whose components are all isomorphic.

A topological index, which is a number, is connected to a graph. It is often used in chemometrics, biomedicine, and bioinformatics to anticipate various physicochemical properties and biological activities of compounds. The purpose of this article is to encourage original research focused on topological graph indices for the drugs azacitidine, decitabine, and guadecitabine as well as an investigation of the genesis of symmetry in actual networks. Symmetry is a universal phenomenon that applies nature’s conservation rules to complicated systems. Although symmetry is a ubiquitous structural characteristic of complex networks, it has only been seldom examined in real-world networks. The M¯-polynomial, one of these polynomials, is used to create a number of degree-based topological coindices. Patients with higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes, chronic myelomonocytic leukemia, and acute myeloid leukemia who are not candidates for intense regimens, such as induction chemotherapy, are treated with these hypomethylating drugs. Examples of these drugs are decitabine (5-aza-20-deoxycytidine), guadecitabine, and azacitidine. The M¯-polynomial is used in this study to construct a variety of coindices for the three brief medicines that are suggested. New cancer therapies could be developed using indice knowledge, specifically the first Zagreb index, second Zagreb index, F-index, reformulated Zagreb index, modified Zagreb, symmetric division index, inverse sum index, harmonic index, and augmented Zagreb index for the drugs azacitidine, decitabine, and guadecitabine.

The metric dimension has various applications in several fields, such as computer science, image processing, pattern recognition, integer programming problems, drug discovery, and the production of various chemical compounds. The lowest number of vertices in a set with the condition that any vertex can be uniquely identified by the list of distances from other vertices in the set is the metric dimension of a graph. A resolving function of the graph G is a map ϑ:V(G)→[0,1] such that ∑u∈R{v,w}ϑ(u)≥1, for every pair of adjacent distinct vertices v,w∈V(G). The local fractional metric dimension of the graph G is defined as ldimf(G) = min{∑v∈V(G)ϑ(v), where ϑ is a local resolving function of G}. This paper presents a new family of planar networks namely, rotationally heptagonal symmetrical graphs by means of up to four cords in the heptagonal structure, and then find their upper-bound sequences for the local fractional metric dimension. Moreover, the comparison of the upper-bound sequence for the local fractional metric dimension is elaborated both numerically and graphically. Furthermore, the asymptotic behavior of the investigated sequences for the local fractional metric dimension is addressed.

Entropy is a thermodynamic function in physics that measures the randomness and disorder of molecules in a particular system or process based on the diversity of configurations that molecules might take. Distance-based entropy is used to address a wide range of problems in the domains of mathematics, biology, chemical graph theory, organic and inorganic chemistry, and other disciplines. We explain the basic applications of distance-based entropy to chemical phenomena. These applications include signal processing, structural studies on crystals, molecular ensembles, and quantifying the chemical and electrical structures of molecules. In this study, we examine the characterisation of polyphenylenes and boron (B12) using a line of symmetry. Our ability to quickly ascertain the valences of each atom, and the total number of atom bonds is made possible by the symmetrical chemical structures of polyphenylenes and boron B12. By constructing these structures with degree-based indices, namely the K Banhatti indices, ReZG1-index, ReZG2-index, and ReZG3-index, we are able to determine their respective entropies.

Entropy is a measure of a system’s molecular disorder or unpredictability since work is produced by organized molecular motion. Shannon’s entropy metric is applied to represent a random graph’s variability. Entropy is a thermodynamic function in physics that, based on the variety of possible configurations for molecules to take, describes the randomness and disorder of molecules in a given system or process. Numerous issues in the fields of mathematics, biology, chemical graph theory, organic and inorganic chemistry, and other disciplines are resolved using distance-based entropy. These applications cover quantifying molecules’ chemical and electrical structures, signal processing, structural investigations on crystals, and molecular ensembles. In this paper, we look at K-Banhatti entropies using K-Banhatti indices for C6H6 embedded in different chemical networks. Our goal is to investigate the valency-based molecular invariants and K-Banhatti entropies for three chemical networks: the circumnaphthalene (CNBn), the honeycomb (HBn), and the pyrene (PYn). In order to reach conclusions, we apply the method of atom-bond partitioning based on valences, which is an application of spectral graph theory. We obtain the precise values of the first K-Banhatti entropy, the second K-Banhatti entropy, the first hyper K-Banhatti entropy, and the second hyper K-Banhatti entropy for the three chemical networks in the main results and conclusion.

As information technology continues to provide a platform for any business willing to engage in diverse channels, it has ushered in a continuous evolution of ways to attract and maintain a given customer base. One of the latest trends seen in the retailing industry is the implementation of an omnichannel business strategy. As a result, the number of businesses now implementing such a strategy has led to a lack of differentiation amongst competitors. Therefore, it is no surprise that omnichannel retailers have had to rethink and acquire a new competitive advantage through the exploration of new and innovative strategic activities. Prior work on services has shown gamification to be a successful strategy in enhancing customer loyalty, promoting positive word-of-mouth, and enhancing greater engagement with the offered service. Also, offering hedonic values (one of gamification’s main premises) has been an effective strategy for engaging customers as well as promoting repeat purchase intentions. Despite this, the potential effects of gamification within an omnichannel setting is not yet explored, and thus the rationale of this study. In exploring this gap, we employed means-end chain theory as a basis in which to discover the potential of gamification. Additionally, as gamification is a novel method in omnichannel research, this paper strived to explore the moderating effect of the novelty-seeking traits and unobserved heterogeneous behaviors of consumers. This research was based on 440 valid questionnaires in a survey dataset from Amazon M-Turk. The results provided strong evidence of the underlying proposition within the research models. Specifically, this study showed that gamification could be a potential unique feature used for engaging consumers onto one’s platform, especially consumers with a novelty-seeking trait. We did, however, find that this finding does not apply to the case for all consumers. Therefore, the implication of this research suggests to practitioners that its implementation should be approached through an opt-in rather than a compulsory option.
