The debate surrounding the financial needs of investors and the impact on society of investment is considered to be an important research topic due to the growth of socially responsible financial markets. The objective of this research is to study the perception of the Spanish public about socially responsible investing (SRI) criteria and real-life investment needs. To examine the Spanish perception of SRI, we conducted a field survey. The results show that SRI is in an early stage and Spanish investors need more exact information regarding social, environmental, and governance criteria in order to invest in socially responsible companies and products.

The main purpose of this study is to analyse the changes caused by the global financial crisis on the influence of board characteristics on corporate results, in terms of corporate performance, corporate risk-taking, and earnings management. Sample comprises S&P 500 listed firms during 2002-2008. This study reveals that the environmental conditions call for different behaviour from directors to fulfil their responsibilities and suggests changes in normative and voluntary guidelines for improving good practices in the boardroom.

Con esta tesis doctoral contribuimos al conocimiento de la comunicación de la sostenibilidad corporativa, desde la perspectiva práctica de la gestión efectiva de la comunicación. Para ello, en este estudio, se han abordado dos grandes aportaciones, en un primer bloque, tras la revisión y la síntesis de la literatura existente, se crea un marco teórico de la comunicación de la sostenibilidad corporativa , y en un segundo bloque de marcada naturaleza empírica, se analizan prácticas comunicativas de la estrategia de sostenibilidad corporativa, focalizadas en el sector textil, dado su gran impacto social. La tesis remarca el concepto de una comunicación de la sostenibilidad corporativa, que incluye a la comunicación “de”, “sobre” y “para” la sostenibilidad, que se engloba en un contexto organizacional dinámico y promotor del cambio. Así, desde una perspectiva multidimensional, omnicanal, inclusiva y de aplicación real en la gestión empresarial, se pone de manifiesto que la comunicación es el eje vertebrador de la estrategia de sostenibilidad de la corporación. With this PhD dissertation, we aim to contribute to the communication of corporate sustainability knowledge, from the practical perspective of effective corporate communication management. On the one hand, through the review and synthesis of the existing literature, creating a theoretical framework. On the other hand, empirically, analyzing communicative practices of the corporate sustainability strategy, with a focus on the textile sector. Only from an action point of view, we can speak about corporate sustainability communication, which includes communication "of", "about" and "for" sustainability, which is included in a dynamic organizational context and promotes change . Therefore, from a multidimensional, omnichannel, inclusive perspective and real implementation in business management, it is shown that communication is the backbone of its sustainability strategy among the different stakeholders. Curs acadèmic: 2018/2019 El mundo tiene un plan para lograr su sostenibilidad y este plan aprobado por las Naciones Unidas se llama Agenda 2030 y Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS). Por primera vez, todos los actores globales están llamados a actuar: gobiernos, empresas, ONG, universidades y la ciudadanía en su conjunto. El objetivo final, que nadie quede atrás. Entre los múltiples actores también están llamados a participar las entidades de la economía social, y entre ellas, por coherencia y oportunidad, los centros especiales de empleo (CEE) de iniciativa social. Alinear sus prácticas y actuaciones a lo fijado en los ODS no solo es un deber ético, sino una oportunidad para apoyar la generación de una economía más inclusiva y sostenible, así como para innovar, mejorar su eficiencia, desarrollar nuevos servicios o productos y lograr un mayor impacto en su entorno. Los CEE de iniciativa social de Castilla y León van retrasados en la tarea de alineamiento con los ODS, por lo que para facilitar esta tarea se adapta a su realidad, a modo de propuesta estratégica, y tomando como ejemplo un CEE cuya actividad principal sea la de prestar servicios de limpieza, los cinco pasos del SGD Compass: entendiendo los ODS, definiendo prioridades, estableciendo objetivos, integrando y, reportando y comunicando.

Curs acadèmic: 2016/2017 Circular economics is a recent economic model that has emerged as a response to the new needs of society and our planet. These needs have arisen because of the continuous use of a linear economic model, which has been developing since the industrial revolution, with which it has reached a point where there are no longer enough resources to extract, and throught wich we are contaminating the planet more and more. Circular economics, as a solution to these problems, proposes a series of changes, such as the reuse of waste to manufacture new products or the manufacture of products that are long lasting in time so as to generate the least possible residues in the slower and more moderate way. Increasingly, more and more industries are getting involved with the cause and are beginning to be involved in this change. Specifically, the textile industry is beginning to take serious measures in this regard and starting to implement in its production processes the characteristics of the aforementioned circular economy. It is true that a company that pursues social and environmental objectives, in addition to economic ones, is not as profitable today as a company that focuses simply on its economic results without following criteria of respect for the environment and society. But we are facing a change, where more and more entrepreneurs and consumers are more aware of environmental and social importance. And where companies are increasingly acquiring value for their good practices and not just for the profits they get whatever the price to pay.

Curs acadèmic 2016-2017 “The gender wage gap and the overcrowding theory” is a study based on the obstacles of the female gender when they try to get a job, besides to promote and obtain senior positions. In order to understand the situation as well as the effect and context of the wage gap, we have analyzed different theories and documents. We have emphasized in concepts like overcrowding and wage gap as the most important criteria, last concept is the women’s discrimination cause by their gender condition. This analysis explains the rejection and discrimination in wages as the differences in remuneration without being impartial factors. What is more, that criteria cannot be demonstrated or justified. The rejection of compensation is not allowed by law, but is often not complied with. In conclusion, this document makes a contribution and a general view of the different ways of remuneration between genders at the labour market and their respective differences.

El objetivo principal de esta Tesis es estudiar si la cobertura de carteras de renta variable utilizando contratos de futuro sobre índices bursátiles es más efectiva con ratios de cobertura constantes o dinámicos. El estudio se realiza para duraciones de la cobertura diaria y semanal. Se propone la utilización de modelos de Corrección de Error GARCH Bivariantes. Estos modelos permiten determinar ratios de cobertura que se ajustan frente a la llegada de noticias al mercado. También se analiza la existencia de un comportamiento diferencial del valor del ratio de cobertura alrededor de la fecha de vencimiento del contrato de futuro. Los resultados muestran que el ratio de cobertura debe ajustarse a la llegada de información frente a políticas de cobertura estáticas.Para determinar la conveniencia de realizar políticas de carácter dinámico, se utilizan medidas de efectividad que incorporan los costes de transacción en los que se incurre al ajustar la posición de futuros. El estudio de la efectividad se realiza desde una óptica ex-post y una ex-ante, más ajustada al verdadero proceso de decisión llevado a cabo por el inversor. La principal conclusión que se obtiene de la tesis es que con las políticas de cobertura dinámicas se producen resultados en los que se consigue reducir el riesgo de la posición cubierta, aunque su realización, en determinados casos, no es viable económicamente al considerar los costes de transacción en los que se incurre al ajustar las posiciones en el contrato de futuros.
