Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) ferrites, characterized by their superior magnetic and dielectric attributes, are instrumental in advancing the development of microwave devices, particularly in enhancing high-frequency performance, integration, and miniaturization. This paper synthesizes YIG ferrite materials with the composition Bi 0.6 Y 1.4-x Ca 1+x Fe 4.5-x V 0.5 Ge x O 12 (x = 0.10 to 0.50, incrementing by 0.10) through the solid-state sintering method. It delves deeply into the mechanism by which Ca2+-Ge4+ ions substitution regulates the magnetic properties of BiV-YIG. The microstructural and magnetic properties of the samples were systematically tested and analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and TE106 perturbation method. At a substitution content of x = 0.50, the substitution of Ge4+ ions for the Fe3+ ions at the d-site transforms the material from ferrimagnetic to paramagnetic, and the saturation magnetization of the sample drops to 132.74 G. By calculating the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) linewidth using the law of approach to saturation, the study elucidates the negative impact of low saturation magnetization on FMR linewidth. The mechanisms proposed in this paper provide theoretical and experimental bases for reducing the FMR linewidth of high dielectric constant Bi-substituted YIG, paving the way for developing high-dielectric, low-loss YIG ferrite materials for microwave devices. In this paper, the compensation characteristics and hysteresis loops of a ferrimagnetic mixed-spin diluted fullerene-like (XY)540 are studied based on Monte Carlo method. We show the ground-state phase diagrams in order to explore the stable configuration states. The temperature dependence of magnetization, magnetic susceptibility, internal energy, specific heat, and entropy are presented. The phase diagram including compensation temperature Tcomp and phase change temperature Tc is obtained. The multi-loop hysteresis phenomena under the influence of diverse physical parameters are observed. Finally, the critical exponents of the fullerene-like (XY)540 are obtained. We prepared ultrafine MnCo 2 O 4 particles using a facile sol–gel autocombustion method. The structural and vibrational characterizations confirmed the formation of a pure cubic spinel phase in as-synthesized MnCo 2 O 4 particles. The surface morphology analyses revealed the porous structure with an average particle size of 5 nm and uniform distribution of manganese (Mn), cobalt (Co), and oxygen (O) in the particles. We observed the presence of multiple valence states of Mn and Co, occupying both tetrahedral and octahedral sites, enhancing our insight into the material's electronic properties and structural configuration. Our magnetization studies unveiled a Curie Temperature (T C) of 185 K with ferrimagnetic ordering below T C , resulting in substantial magnetization (9.8 emu/g) and coercivity (3.46 kOe) at 2 K and weak magnetic behavior above T C. This is attributed to the finite size and surface effects. Furthermore, the incorporation of MnCo 2 O 4 nanoparticles and graphene oxide into a polyurethane foam matrix resulted in an excellent sound absorption coefficient of 90 % at 2000 Hz. In this work, the ion-exchange technique in molten salts was investigated to introduce copper ions in a bioactive and ferrimagnetic devitrified glass. This approach aimed to develop a magnetic and bioactive material for oncologic bone implants, able to join the ability to promote bone bonding to hyperthermic therapy while simultaneously lowering the risk of developing post-surgery infections. The ion-exchange approach was developed in order to overcome experimental critical issues related to the influence of copper introduction as a starting reagent, during the material synthesis, on magnetite nucleation. The magnetic devitrified glass was prepared by melt and quenching route, followed by ion exchange in a mixture of molten sodium and copper nitrates, in three different Na/Cu molar ratios (20, 200, 2000). The obtained samples were analysed in terms of morphology, composition, ability to release heat, bioactivity and antibacterial properties. The results revealed that copper ion-exchange involved both sodium and calcium ions and the precipitation of few amounts of copper oxide aggregates occurred. The crystalline nature of the starting material and its ability to reach the temperature needed for hyperthermia, under exposition to an alternating magnetic field, were not affected. A bacteriostatic effect was obtained by samples with the highest copper amount and the copper doping did not affect the bioactivity of the glass ceramic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The high temperature compression experiments of 2209 duplex stainless steel were carried out by using Glee-ble3800 thermal simulator, the rate was 0,01~10 s-1, and the deformation temperature was 950~1 100°C. The strain rate and deformation temperature were analyzed and the effect of strain rate and deformation temperature were analyzed. The high-temperature rheological behavior of 2209 duplex stainless steel was investigated, and the effects of strain rate and deformation temperature on the two-phase relationship of 2209 duplex stainless steel were analyzed, the strain rate compensation factor Z was introduced, and the Arrhenius eigenmodel equation was established. The results show that the theoretical value of peak stress calculated numerically by this constitutive model fits well with the experimental results, and the correlation is 97,3 %, which verifies the feasibility of the model. In our studies, we combined two powdered materials, i.e., ferroelectric triglycine sulfate (TGS) and ferrimagnetic magnetite Fe3O4, to obtain a magnetoelectric composite. The ferroelectric (E) part, i.e., TGS, was a hybrid organic–inorganic crystal, which we obtained as a pure single crystal from an aqueous solution using a static water evaporation method. The magnetic (M) part of the composite was commercially available magnetite. The samples used for the dielectric and magnetoelectric measurements were cold-pressed and made in the form of a circular tablet. The measuring electrodes were made of silver-based conductive paste and were attached to the sample. We measured the temperature dependencies of selected electrical parameters (e.g., dielectric permittivity, electrical capacity, and loss angle tangent). We used the dynamic lock-in method to check whether magnetoelectric coupling existed between the E and M phases. In this paper, we present the dielectric properties of pure monocrystalline TGS as a reference sample and compare the results for TGS powder, TGS + carbon powder, and TGS + Fe3O4 powder. The magnetoelectric coupling presumably appeared for the composite TGS + 10 wt. % Fe3O4, as evidenced by the shift in the phase transition temperature in the TGS. Orbital currents play a fundamental role in a wide range of transport phenomena. Recently, the discovery of a novel chiral orbital current state in the ferrimagnetic nodal-line semiconductor Mn3Si2Te6 has attracted significant interest, supported by anomalous I–V characteristics and time-dependent bistable switching. However, the direct experimental verifications, combining electrical transport and magnetic measurement, that detect the variation of the magnetic properties vs the current are still rare. Here, we investigate the transport properties of Mn3Si2Te6 and track the current-induced dynamics of the magnetic moment. Reflective magnetic circular dichroism reveals that significant alterations in Mn3Si2Te6 magnetoresistance in response to an electric field are necessarily coupled with a magnetic phase transition, establishing a rare correlation. Our findings indicate the predominance of magnetic chiral orbital currents in the colossal angular magnetoresistance effect, offering a unique platform for advanced studies in orbital magnetism. The magnetic anisotropy of strontium ferrite (SF)/PA12 filament, a popular hard magnetic ferrimagnetic composites that is used for 3D-printing of permanent magnets, is studied by vibrating sample magnetometry. The studied filaments have a composition of SF/PA-12 thermoplastic composite with a 40% wt. ratio of SF. SF particles are non-spherical platelets with an average diameter of 1.3 um and a diameter to thickness ratio of 3. Filaments are produced by a twin-screw extruder and have a diameter of 1.5 mm. SEM images show that the SF particles are homogeneously distributed through the filament. VSM measurements on different parts of the filaments show that the outer part of the cylindrical filament has a higher anisotropy, and the core is mostly isotropic. This conclusion is consistent with computational work by others which suggest that particle alignment predominantly takes place near the walls of the extruder die where shear flow is maximum. Additional hysteresis curve measurement of the outer cylindrical part of the filament parallel to the r and ϕ directions indicates that the squareness of the hysteresis curve (S) is larger in the r-direction. This indicates that the outer surface of the filament has a strong easy axis in the r-direction. We conclude that the SF platelets line up parallel to the walls of the extrusion die. The accelerating use of organic dyes in various industries has led to a surge in water pollution, especially from non-biodegradable dye effluents discharged into water resources. This study addresses the critical issue of catalyzing the reduction of two prevalent dyes, methylene blue (MB) and rhodamine-B (RhB), using a multiwalled carbon nanotube-cobalt ferrite (MWCNT-CF) nanocomposite. The synthesized nanocomposite demonstrates exceptional catalytic activity, stability, and recyclability. Conventional methods for treating dye-containing wastewater often prove expensive. This study explores the efficacy of catalytic reduction, a relatively fast process facilitated by semiconductor nanoparticles. Structural analyses using X-ray diffraction and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) confirm the formation of the nanocomposite, revealing unsaturated surface bonds and chains conducive to adsorption. The nanocomposite exhibits a remarkable reduction in both dyes, with easy recyclability for multiple cycles. Magnetization studies confirm the ferrimagnetic nature of the nanocomposite, facilitating its efficient separation from the reaction mixture using a magnet. The study delves into the kinetics of the catalytic reduction following pseudo-first-order kinetics. The surface modifications of the nanocomposite, as revealed by TEM, contribute to enhanced adsorption and catalytic efficiency. Notably, the MWCNT-CF nanocomposite demonstrates negligible loss of catalytic activity during recycling, highlighting its potential for cost-effective and sustainable applications in dye reduction across various industries. Half‐metallic ferromagnets (HMFs) are highly desirable materials for applications in spintronics because of their semiconducting behavior for one spin projection and metallic nature for the other. To operate spintronic devices at room temperature (RT), HMFs should simultaneously have a large saturation magnetization (MS), high magnetic Curie temperature (TC), and a wide half‐metallic gap. However, HMFs that simultaneously fulfill these three criteria are rare. In this work, we report for the first time on the ferrimagnetic double perovskite oxides of Sr2CrHfO6 (SCHO) with a magnetic TC up to 545 K due to the strong Cr3+(↑)Cr4+(↓) antiferromagnetic spin interactions. The combined experimental results confirmed that the SCHO powders crystallized in an orthogonal crystal structure with Pnma symmetry. The SEM images demonstrate that the powders exhibit a spherical morphology with particle sizes between 150 and 250 nm. XPS spectra verified the presence of Sr2+, Cr 3+/Cr4+, and Hf4+/Hfx+ (x < 4) ions in the SCHO powder. Oxygen was present as lattice oxygen and adsorbed oxygen species. At 2 K, the SCHO powder exhibited ferrimagnetic behavior with MS of 0.11 μB/f. u and a magnetic coercive field of 290 Oe. The SCHO ceramics displayed a normal butterfly‐like magnetoresistance‐magnetic field (MR‐H) curve at 2 K due to the intergranular tunneling effect, and the MR (2 K, 7 T) value was −2.05%. The temperature dependence of the resistivity of the SCHO ceramics revealed their semiconducting nature, and the electrical transport data in the temperature range 2−800 K were well fitted by the Mott's variable‐range hopping model, thermal activation model, and small polaron hopping model. Optical measurements demonstrate that the SCHO powders have a direct optical bandgap of 2.25 eV in the visible light window. Having both high TC and a direct optical bandgap (2.25 eV) makes SCHO oxides attractive for use in advanced spintronic devices and solar cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effect of temperature on electrochemical properties of Ni82.3Cr7Fe3Si4.5B3.2 glassy alloy in different acid proticity has been investigated utilizing AC and DC methods. Firstly, the handling of experimental data on the temperature dependence of charge transfer resistance, as well as corrosion current density permits us to determine the values of classical Arrhenius parameters as well as the thermodynamic ones considered approximately independent of temperature. This leads us to deduce a global interpretation on the phenomenon of corrosion and polarization. Secondly, the deviation to the linearity of the Arrhenius behavior and the real dependence on temperature of the thermodynamic parameters, permit us to clearly quantify the effect of the acid proticity and define, for the first time, the concept of current Arrhenius parameters and the current thermodynamic ones, as well as the modeling of the enthalpy–enthalpy compensation. Moreover, the effect of temperature can be investigated using the Vogel–Fulcher–Tammann model to reveal that the corresponding Vogel temperature has an interesting physical meaning. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), which are powered by Maxwell's displacement current, have a wide range of applications, including energy harvesting and self-powered sensors. However, very little attention has been paid to the effect of the ferromagnetic medium on TENG displacement current. Herein, flexible ferrimagnetic poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (P(VDF–HFP))/nickel ferrite (NiFe 2 O 4) fiber composite film based TENGs were fabricated and their performances were analysed. Highly crystalline, ferrimagnetic NiFe 2 O 4 nanofibers with high aspect ratio were prepared using electrospinning technique by systematic optimization of spinning parameters. Thereafter, the fibers were reinforced into the polymeric matrix to improve the β–phase and dielectric constant which in turn significantly enhanced the TENG performance. The β–phase enhancement in the composite films was confirmed by XRD and FTIR analysis; 77 % of the β–phase was achieved with the incorporation of NiFe 2 O 4 fiber. Morphological features were examined using SEM and AFM, which revealed more β–phase spherulite formation in the composite films. A notable increase in the dielectric properties was evidenced with the addition of NiFe 2 O 4 fibers and a maximum dielectric constant of∼26 was attained at 100 Hz. The TENG was developed using P(VDF-HFP)/NiFe 2 O 4 and nylon which generated an output voltage (V pp) and current (I pp) values of 584 V and 25 μA, respectively. Furthermore, the performance of TENG under an external magnetic field was examined, and a notable improvement in performance was observed, paving the way for the application of NiFe 2 O 4 fibers in hybrid energy harvesters and self-powered sensors. We have investigated, for the first time, the hyperthermia properties, antibacterial, anticancer and antioxidant activities, as well as their toxicity, of Mn 0.25 Mg 0.25 Co 0.5 Fe 2 O 4 nanoparticles synthesized by the sol-gel auto-combustion method. X-ray diffraction results revealed a pure phase and good crystallinity of the synthesized. In addition, the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum confirmed the formation of the crystallographic sites of the synthesized structure. In terms of morphology, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that the nanoparticles were agglomerated. In addition, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the nanoparticles had a cubic shape and a nanometric size of around 32 nm. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) confirmed the chemical composition of the nanoparticles. With regard to magnetic properties, magnetic measurements showed almost ferrimagnetic behavior, with a saturation magnetization of 38.90 emu/g at room temperature. Hyperthermia measurements revealed relatively good heating efficiencies, with SAR value of 33W/g, good temperature rise and short time to reach magnetic hyperthermia temperature 42 °C (8 min). For biological activities the nanoparticles showed an excellent capacity to neutralize free radicals, eliminating 97% of DPPH and 95% of hydrogen peroxide. The dose of 40 mg/kg of the nanoparticles caused significant alterations in hematological and biochemical profiles. The material showed a significant effect on various bacterial strains, including Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis. The synthesized nanoparticles also showed significant activity against various cell lines, including MCF-7 and HeLa. These results strongly suggest the promising utilization of Mn 0.25 Mg 0.25 Co 0.5 Fe 2 O 4 , in many applications as a potential candidate for magnetic-mediated hyperthermia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research is focused on designing new ceramic oxides with the spinel structure for a potential application as sensitive temperature and magnetic field sensors. In this respect, the mixtures of ferrimagnetic NiFe 2 O 4 with low-resistive Ni 0.66 Cu 0.41 Mn 1.93 O 4 semiconductor (molar coefficient α = 1 / 5 and 1 / 2) were prepared using the chemical co-precipitation technique followed by a low-temperature sintering of the cold-pressed powders. For the prepared materials, a variation of the electrical conductivity σ dc with temperature T (in the range 50 K–400 K) is quantitatively analyzed using different theoretical concepts of the charge carrier hopping transport occurring in disordered materials with strong electron-phonon interaction. It has been shown that an increase in α from 0 to 1 / 2 causes a step-like change of the dc electrical conductivity and, simultaneously, a gradual change in the magnetization M determined in the saturation state. The temperature coefficient of resistance T C R of the prepared ceramics takes the values from −0.6%/K (at 400 K) to −19.6%/K (below 100 K). The highest absolute value of the magneto-resistance coefficient M R determined at 150 K (and at magnetic field 7 T) registered for ceramic oxide with α = 1 / 2 was found to be 3.4%. The magnetic susceptibility of Fe1 –xCoxCr2S4 solid solutions in the FeCr2S4-rich part of the FeCr2S4–CoCr2S4 system has been studied by static and dynamic methods. The magnetic measurements were performed at temperatures from 5 to 300 K in static (50 Oe and 45 kOe) and ac magnetic fields (field amplitude Hac = 1 Oe; ac field frequencies ν = 100, 1000, and 10 000 Hz). We have determined the temperatures of the magnetic transformations in the system and identified their nature. The results demonstrate that the temperature of the ferrimagnetic phase transition (TC) in Fe1 –xCoxCr2S4 increases with increasing cobalt content. The materials with x = 0–0.5 have been shown to undergo a transition to a spin glass state, evidenced by a shift of maxima in temperature dependences of the imaginary part of their dynamic susceptibility. Isolated magnetic skyrmions are stable, topologically protected spin textures that are at the forefront of research interests today due to their potential applications in information technology. A distinct class of skyrmion hosts are rare earth - transition metal (RE-TM) ferrimagnetic materials. To date, the nature and the control of basic traits of skyrmions in these materials are not fully understood. We show that for an archetypal ferrimagnetic material DyCo3 that exhibits a strong perpendicular anisotropy, the ferrimagnetic skyrmion size can be tuned by an external magnetic field. Moreover, by taking advantage of the high spatial resolution of scanning transmission X-ray microscopy (STXM) and utilizing a large x-ray magnetic linear dichroism (XMLD) contrast that occurs naturally at the RE resonant edges, we resolve the nature of the magnetic domain walls of ferrimagnetic skyrmions. We demonstrate that through this method one can easily discriminate between Bloch and Néel type domain walls for each individual skyrmion. For all isolated ferrimagnetic skyrmions, we observe that the domain walls are of Néel-type. This key information is corroborated with results of micromagnetic simulations and allows us to conclude on the nature of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) which concurs to the stabilisation of skyrmions in this ferrimagnetic system. Establishing that an intrinsic DMI occurs in RE-TM materials will also be beneficial towards a deeper understanding of chiral spin texture control in ferrimagnetic materials. Magnetic skyrmions are topological spin textures that have potential implications for spintronic devices but greater control over their stability and physical characteristics are first required. This research is driven by a desire to create composite films that combine the ferrimagnetic capabilities of pure and La/Nd substituted Sr 3 Co 2 Fe 24 O 41 Z-hexaferrites with the multifunctional features of ferroelectric polymers. A flexible magnetoelectric (ME) polymer composite films, with Sr 3 Co 2 Fe 24 O 41 (SF), Sr 2.85 La 0.15 Co 2 Fe 24 O 41 (SF–La) and Sr 2.85 Nd 0.15 Co 2 Fe 24 O 41 (SF-Nd) as the ferrimagnetic material and poly vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene (PH) as a ferroelectric component, were synthesized using solution casting method. In the current case, two steps have been used to synthesize ferroelectric and ferrimagnetic composites films: first, SF, SF-La and SF-Nd hexaferrite samples were synthesized using solid state reaction method and then 20% weight percentage of these hexaferrites were incorporated into the PH matrix using solution casting method to form composite film. In order to find the traces of collaborative interactions between the two phases, the structural, magnetic, and ferroelectric properties of these composite samples have been studied. The XRD data confirm the formation of SF, SF-La and SF-Nd hexaferrite dispersed in a piezoelectric copolymer PH matrix. The changes in the ferroelectric properties in different magnetic fields demonstrated the existence of ME coupling in the composite films. The inclusion of PH enhanced the magnetoelectric coupling of composite films. The maximal value of magnetoelectric coupling coefficient (α ME) observed is 0.213, 1.227, 3.403 and 9.797 mV cm−1 Oe−1 for SF, PHSF, PHSF-La and PHSF-Nd, respectively. There is approximately 46-time increase in the maximum value of magnetoelectric coupling coefficient (α ME) in PHSF-Nd (9.797 mV/cm.Oe) composites as compare to pure SF (0.213 mV/cm.Oe). By employing Monte Carlo simulation with the metropolis algorithm, the magnetic properties of hexagonal decorated nanoparticle with a mixed-spin (3/2, 1) configuration under an applied magnetic field were analyzed. The influence of exchange couplings and anisotropies on the magnetic and thermodynamic properties of the system were studied. We obtained the various characteristic curves of the magnetization, susceptibility, internal energy, specific heat, and hysteresis loops. The multiple-loop hysteresis behaviors were discovered under certain conditions. Furthermore, we also plotted the variation curve of magnetization with the external magnetic field under the effect of different parameters and found that the magnetization plateaus are based on the exchange couplings, anisotropies, and spin state. In some materials exhibiting field-induced first-order transitions (FOTs), the equilibrium phase-transition line is hidden by the hysteresis region associated with the FOT. In general, phase diagrams form the basis for the study of material science, and the profiles of phase-transition lines separating different thermodynamic phases include comprehensive information about thermodynamic quantities, such as latent heat. However, in a field-induced FOT, the equilibrium phase-transition line cannot be precisely determined from measurements of resistivity, magnetization, etc, especially when the transition is accompanied by large hysteresis. Here, we demonstrate a thermodynamics-based method for determining the hidden equilibrium FOT line in a material exhibiting a field-induced FOT. This method is verified for the field-induced FOT between antiferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic states in magneto-electric compounds ( Fe 0.95 Zn 0.05 ) 2 Mo 3 O 8 . The equilibrium FOT line determined based on the Clausius–Clapeyron equation exhibits a reasonable profile in terms of the third law of thermodynamics, and it shows marked differences from the midpoints of the hysteresis region. Our findings highlight that for a field-induced FOT exhibiting large hysteresis, care should be taken for referring to the hysteresis midpoint line when discussing field-induced latent heat or magnetocaloric effects. α-Fe2O3/Fe3O4/g-C3N4 nanocomposites were prepared in-situ by solution combustion as magnetically separable photocatalysts using ferric nitrate as oxidant, glycine as organic fuel, and g-C3N4. The effects of various amounts of iron oxides, on the magnetic, optical, and photocatalytic properties were explored by different characterization methods. The magnetite (Fe3O4) phase as ferrimagnetic material disappeared with the increase in ferric nitrate contents, leading to the decrease of magnetic properties. The bandgap energy decreased from 2.8 to 1.6 eV with the increase of the hematite (α-Fe2O3) phase.The photocatalytic results showed that the type and amount of iron oxides had a significant effect on the decolorization of methylene blue, rhodamine B and methyl orange dyes under visible-light irradiation. The activity of the nanocomposite sample containing 37 wt. % iron oxides was more effective than that of the pristine g-C3N4 sample to photodegrade the methylene blue, rhodamine B and methyl orange, respectively. Moreover, the nanocomposites exhibited a higher photocurrent density than that of the pristine g-C3N4, mainly due to their lower charge recombination rate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Spin–orbit torques (SOTs) provide an efficient way to electrically manipulate the magnetic order in spintronic devices. Compared with conventional ferromagnetic materials, ferrimagnetic materials have the advantages of antiferromagnetically coupled sublattices and induced ultrafast spin dynamics. In this paper, we study the current-induced magnetization switching in the ferrimagnetic Ta/GdFeCo/MgO system. Robust SOT-induced magnetization switching can be achieved at the magnetic compensation temperature point of around 70 K, where the magnetization is nearly zero and the coercivity can reach almost 3 T. The temperature dependence of the SOT efficiency is quantified by the second harmonic method, and the enhanced SOT efficiency near the magnetic compensation temperature is attributed to the negative exchange coupling between the two sublattices of CoFe and Gd. This work demonstrates the SOT switching of the nearly compensated ferrimagnet, with great potential for future magnetic interaction-free and ultrafast ferrimagnetic applications. Fe1.1Mn1.9O4 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using a combustion method. The influence of the heating temperature on the evolution of the structural and magnetic properties has been studied using various methods. The structural analysis results revealed that as-synthesized nanoparticles have a tetragonal structure with an average size of ~24 nm. The magnetic measurements of the sample showed its ferrimagnetic nature at room temperature with hysteresis at low fields. Temperature-dependent magnetization measurements allowed for the conclusion that the Curie temperature for Fe1.1Mn1.9O4 nanoparticles was ~465 °C. After high-temperature magnetic measurements, during which the samples were heated to various maximum heating temperatures (Tmax.heat.) in the range from 500 to 900 °C, it was found that the structure of the samples after cooling to room temperature depended on the heating temperature. Herewith, when the heating temperature was 600 < Tmax.heat. < 700 °C, an irreversible structural phase transition occurred, and the cooled samples retained a high-temperature cubic structure. Reservoir computing is a brain heuristic computing paradigm that can complete training at a high speed. The learning performance of a reservoir computing system relies on its nonlinearity and short-term memory ability. As physical implementation, spintronic reservoir computing has attracted considerable attention because of its low power consumption and small size. However, few studies have focused on developing the short-term memory ability of the material itself in spintronics reservoir computing. Among various magnetic materials, spin glass is known to exhibit slow magnetic relaxation that has the potential to offer the short-term memory capability. In this research, we have quantitatively investigated the short-term memory capability of spin cluster glass based on the prevalent benchmark. The results reveal that the magnetization relaxation of Co, Si-substituted Lu3Fe5O12 with spin glass behavior can provide higher short-term memory capacity than ferrimagnetic material without substitution. Therefore, materials with spin glass behavior can be considered as potential candidates for constructing next-generation spintronic reservoir computing with better performance. In this work, the magnetothermal characteristics and magnetocaloric effect in YFe3 and HoFe3 compounds are calculated as function of temperature and magnetic field. These properties were investigated using the two-sublattice mean field model and the first-principles DFT calculation using the WIEN2k code. The two-sublattice model of the mean-field theory was used to calculate the temperature and field-dependences of magnetization, magnetic heat capacity, magnetic entropy, and the isothermal change in entropy ∆Sm. We used the WIEN2k code to determine the elastic constants and, subsequently, the bulk and shear moduli, the Debye temperature, and the density-of-states at Ef. According to the Hill prediction, YFe3 has bulk and shear moduli of roughly 99.3 and 101.2 GPa respectively. The Debye temperature is ≈ 500 K, and the average sound speed is ≈ 4167 m/s. In fields up to 60 kOe and at temperatures up to and above the Curie point for both substances, the trapezoidal method was used to determine ∆Sm. For instance, the highest ∆Sm values for YFe3 and HoFe3 in 30 kOe are approximately 0.8 and 0.12 J/mol. K, respectively. For the Y and Ho systems, respectively, the adiabatic temperature change in a 3 T field decreases at a rate of around 1.3 and 0.4 K/T. The ferro (or ferrimagnetic) to paramagnetic phase change in these two compounds, as indicated by the temperature and field dependences of the magnetothermal and magnetocaloric properties, ∆Sm and ∆Tad, is a second-order phase transition. Bimagnetic nanoparticles show promise for applications in energy efficient magnetic storage media and magnetic device applications. The magnetic properties, including the exchange bias of nanostructured materials can be tuned by variation of the size, composition, and morphology of the core vs overlayer of the nanoparticles (NPs). The purpose of this study is to investigate the optimal synthesis routes, structure and magnetic properties of novel CoO/NiFe2O4 heterostructured nanocrystals (HNCs). In this work, we aim to examine how the size impacts the exchange bias, coercivity and other magnetic properties of the CoO/NiFe2O4 HNCs. The nanoparticles with sizes ranging from 10 nm to 24 nm were formed by synthesis of an antiferromagnetic (AFM) CoO core and deposition of a ferrimagnetic (FiM) NiFe2O4 overlayer. A highly crystalline magnetic phase is more likely to occur when the morphology of the core-overgrowth is present, which enhances the coupling at the AFM-FiM interface. The CoO core NPs are prepared using thermal decomposition of Co(OH)2 at 600 °C for 2 hours in a pure argon atmosphere, whereas the HNCs are obtained first using thermal evaporation followed by hydrothermal synthesis. The structural and morphological characterization made using X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques verifies that the HNCs are comprised of a CoO core and a NiFe2O4 overgrowth phase. Rietveld refinement of the XRD data shows that the CoO core has the rocksalt (Fd3 m) crystal structure and the NiFe2O4 overgrowth has the spinel (C12/m1) crystal structure. SEM-EDS data indicates the presence and uniform distribution of Co, Ni and Fe in the HNCs. The results from PPMS magnetization measurements of the CoO/NiFe2O4 HNCs are discussed herein. We have carried out joint theoretical and experimental investigations of three Heusler compounds CoMoFeAl, CoMo0.5Fe1.5Al, and Co1.5Mo0.5FeAl. Our first-principle calculations show that all three compounds show either ferro- or ferrimagnetic order with CoMoFeAl and CoMo0.5Fe1.5Al exhibiting high spin polarization of almost 80%. The investigated samples were prepared using arc melting and high vacuum annealing. All the samples show cubic crystal structure with disorder. The parent compound CoMoFeAl shows a small saturation magnetization of 12 emu/g, and a Curie temperature of 440 K. The other two compounds, namely, Co1.5Mo0.5FeAl and CoMo0.5Fe1.5Al, show much higher saturation magnetizations of 62 emu/g and 59 emu/g, and substantially higher Curie temperatures of 950 K and 780 K, respectively. In this work, we investigate the synthesis, along with the structural and magnetic properties, of novel Mn-Co-NiO-based heterostructured nanocrystals (HNCs). The objective is to develop novel, well-structurally ordered inverted antiferromagnetic (AFM) NiO–ferrimagnetic (FiM) spinel phase overgrowth HNCs. Inverted HNCs are particularly promising for magnetic device applications because their magnetic properties are more easily controlled by having well-ordered AFM cores, which can result in magnetic structures having large coercivities, tunable blocking temperatures, and other enhanced magnetic effects. The synthesis of the HNCs is accomplished using a two-step process: In the first step, NiO nanoparticles are synthesized using a thermal decomposition method. Subsequently, Mn-Co overgrowth phases are grown on the NiO nanoparticles via hydrothermal nanophase epitaxy, using a fixed pH level (∼5.3) of the aqueous medium. This pH level was selected based on previous work in our laboratory showing that NiO/Mn3O4 HNCs of constant size have optimal coercivity and exchange bias when synthesized at a pH of 5.0. The crystalline structure and gross morphology of the Mn-Co-NiO-based HNCs have been analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) techniques, respectively. Analysis using these techniques shows that the HNCs are composed of a NiO core and a CoMn2O4 overgrowth phase. Rietveld refinement of XRD data shows that the NiO core has the rocksalt (Fm 3 ̄ m) cubic crystal structure and the CoMn2O4 overgrowth has the spinel (I41/amd) crystal structure. Moreover, an increased relative amount of the CoMn2O4 overgrowth phase is deposited with decreasing NiO core particle size during the synthesis of the HNCs. Band structure and topology of magneto-spin–orbit graphene is investigated using the proposed tight-binding model that incorporates both Rashba and sublattice-resolved collinear exchange couplings in a generic ferrimagnetic (FIM) setting for in-plane and out-of-plane magnetization directions. The resulting band structures were analyzed for possibilities to extract the strengths of exchange and Rashba couplings from experimental spin-resolved ARPES measurements of the valley gaps and π -state spin-splittings. It was shown that the topologically trivial in-plane FIM situation admits simple expressions for these quantities, whereas the out-of-plane FIM, which admits a nontrivial band topology, is harder to analyze. The obtained topological phase diagrams for the out-of-plane FIM case show that the anomalous Hall conductance is quite stable with respect to the antiferromagnetic (AFM) interaction, which tends to interfere with the QAHE phase; moreover, the topological phase transition has a rather smooth character with respect to the AFM coupling strength. Nontrivial chiral spin textures with nanometric sizes and novel characteristics (e.g., magnetic skyrmions) are promising for encoding information bits in future energy‐efficient and high‐density spintronic devices. Because of antiferromagnetic exchange coupling, skyrmions in ferrimagnetic materials exhibit many advantages in terms of size and efficient manipulation, which allow them to overcome the limitations of ferromagnetic skyrmions. Despite recent progress, ferrimagnetic skyrmions have been observed only in few films in the presence of external fields, while those in ferrimagnetic bulks remain elusive. This study reports on spontaneously generated zero‐field ground‐state magnetic skyrmions and their subsequent transformation into traditional magnetic bubbles via intermediate states of (bi‐)target bubbles during a magnetic anisotropy change in the rare‐earth ferrimagnetic crystal DyFe11Ti. Spontaneous reversible topological transformation driven by a temperature‐induced spin reorientation transition is directly distinguished using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy. The spontaneous generation of magnetic skyrmions and successive topological transformations in ferrimagnetic DyFe11Ti are expected to advance the design of topological spin textures with versatile properties and potential applications in rare‐earth magnets. Lately, the development of green chemistry methods with high efficiency for metal nanoparticle synthesis has become a primary focus among researchers. The main goal is to find an eco-friendly technique for the production of nanoparticles. Ferro- and ferrimagnetic materials such as magnetite (Fe3O4) exhibit superparamagnetic behavior at a nanometric scale. Magnetic nanoparticles have been gaining increasing interest in nanoscience and nanotechnology. This interest is attributed to their physicochemical properties, particle size, and low toxicity. The present work aims to synthesize magnetite nanoparticles in a single step using extracts of green lemon Citrus Aurantifolia residues. The results produced nanoparticles of smaller size using a method that is friendlier to health and the environment, is more profitable, and can be applied in anticorrosive coatings. The green synthesis was carried out by a co-precipitation method under variable temperature conditions. The X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) characterization showed that magnetite nanoparticles were successfully obtained with a very narrow particle size distribution between 3 and 10 nm. A composite was produced with the nanoparticles and graphene to be used as a surface coating on steel. In addition, the coating's anticorrosive behavior was evaluated through electrochemical techniques. The surface coating obtained showed good anticorrosive properties and resistance to abrasion. Perovskite-type ABO3 oxides show a number of cation-ordered structures, which have significant effects on their properties. The rock-salt-type order is dominant for B cations, and the layered order for A cations. In this work, we prepared a new perovskite-type oxide, Sm2CuMn(MnTi3)O12, with a rare columnar A-site order using a high-pressure, high-temperature method at about 6 GPa and about 1700 K. Its crystal structure was studied with synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in space group P42/nmc (No. 137) at room temperature with a = 7.53477 Å and c = 7.69788 Å. The magnetic properties of the compound were studied with dc and ac magnetic susceptibility measurements and specific heat. Spin-glass (SG) magnetic properties were found with TSG = 7 K, while specific heat, in the form of Cp/T, showed a strong, very broad anomaly developing below 20 K and peaking at 4 K. The dielectric constant of Sm2CuMn(MnTi3)O12 was nearly frequency and temperature independent between 8 K and 200 K, with a value of about 50. Cu2+ doping drastically modified the magnetic and dielectric properties of Sm2CuMn(MnTi3)O12 in comparison with the parent compound Sm2MnMn(MnTi3)O12, which showed a long-range ferrimagnetic order at 34–40 K. The antisite disorder of Cu2+ and Mn2+ cations between square-planar and octahedral sites was responsible for the SG magnetic properties of Sm2CuMn(MnTi3)O12. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The structural, magnetic, and dielectric properties of a series of Ni2+ substituted cobalt nanoferrite particle samples with the composition Co1−xNixFe2O4 (where x = 0.0 ≤ x ≤ 1.0) synthesized by using the sol-gel auto combustion route are presented in this report. The electromagnetic interference shielding of Co1−xNixFe2O4/PVA nanocomposite films has been determined in the microwave X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz) frequencies. X-ray analysis revealed the single-phase formation of nickel-substituted cobalt nanoferrite samples. The decreasing trend of lattice parameters with Ni2+ substitution indicates the incorporation of Ni2+ into the crystal structure, obeying Vegard's law. FTIR showed the absorption bands at 560–590 cm−1 ( v 1 ) and 390–400 cm−1 ( v 2 ) were attributed to (A-site) tetrahedral and (B-site) octahedral groups complex, respectively which confirm the spinel structure of the samples. Field emission scanning electron microscopy showed agglomerated grains of different sizes and shapes in the morphological observation. EDS reveals the chemical composition of the prepared samples. TEM analysis revealed that the synthesized particles were nearly monodisperse, show to be roughly spherical in shape, and have a polycrystalline nature. The dielectric constant and loss tangent (tanδ) is found to decrease with increasing frequency which shows normal behavior for ferrimagnetic materials. The magnetic properties determined using VSM have substantially changed with the substitution of Ni2+ ions. The saturation magnetization and the experimentally magnetic moment are observed to decrease with an increase in Ni2+ content x. A series of Co1−xNixFe2O4/PVA nanocomposite films are prepared by applying simple, rapid, and inexpensive methods for EMI shielding materials. The vector network analyzer data were used to evaluate the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding properties of the Co1−xNixFe2O4/PVA samples. At 9.2 GHz, a study of reflection loss showed a minimum reflection loss (RL) of −32.08 dB. Also, the synthesized Co1−xNixFe2O4/PVA nanocomposite samples show improved performance for EMI efficiency which proves the utility of this doping. With this low RL value, the results and techniques also promise a simple, effective approach to achieve light-weight Co1−xNixFe2O4/PVA nanocomposite films and make it excellent microwave absorbers, capable of working at gigahertz frequencies for application potentials in EMI shielding material, communication, radar stealth technology, and electronic warfare. Fe doped Sr 2 RuMnO 6 (SRMO) double perovskites (Sr 2 RuMn 1-x Fe x O 6 , x = 0, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3) were prepared by solid-state route. Both x-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy were performed to investigate the crystal structure of the synthesized double perovskites. Rietveld refinement of the x-ray diffraction patterns confirmed a phase transition from tetragonal to cubic space group as a function of doping concentration of iron. Raman spectroscopy at room temperature and group theory analysis revealed the phonon modes associated with the space group of the samples. The temperature dependent Raman spectroscopy showed an anharmonic behaviour of the phonon modes of the Fe doped SRMO samples. The temperature evolution of the phononic modes in the range of 300 K–620 K is predominantly influenced by the lattice degrees of freedom. The presence of several oxidation states Mn (2+, 3+ and 4+) and Fe (3+ and 4+) was confirmed by an X-ray photoemission spectroscopy analysis of the highest doped sample (x = 0.3). The magnetic properties measurements showed that the samples were completely paramagnetic at room temperature. The samples exhibit antiferromagnetism at very low temperatures and we conclude that they exhibit ferrimagnetic ground state in the mid temperature region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Magnetic skyrmions are meta-stable spin structures that naturally emerge in magnetic materials. While a vast amount of effort has gone into the study of their properties, their counterpart of opposite topological charge, the anti-skyrmion, has not received as much attention. We aim to close this gap by deploying Monte Carlo simulations of spin-lattice systems in order to investigate which interactions support anti-skyrmions, as well as skyrmions of Bloch and Néel type. We find that the combination of ferromagnetic exchange and Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya (DM) interactions is able to stabilize each of the three types, depending on the specific structure of the DM interactions. Considering a three-dimensional spin lattice model, we provide a finite-temperature phase diagram featuring a stable anti-skyrmion lattice phase for a large range of temperatures. In addition, we also shed light on the creation and annihilation processes of these anti-skyrmion tubes and study the effects of the DM interaction strength on their typical size. We investigated the dynamic phase transitions (DPTs) in the mixed spin (2, 5/2) Blume-Emery-Griffiths model with repulsive biquadratic interaction in the presence of a time-varying magnetic field. We used the path probability method to obtain the set of the dynamic equations. We numerically solved these dynamic equations to characterize the nature of first- and second-order phase transitions and to find the DPT temperatures as well as obtain the phases in the system. We constructed the dynamic phase diagrams (DPDs) in reduced temperature and amplitude of oscillating magnetic field plane. We observed that the DPDs display richer, complex and more topological various type of phase diagrams. In particular, DPDs exhibit the disordered phase, antiquadrupolar or staggered phase, six different ferrimagnetic phases, three different nonmagnetic phases, and numerous mixed phases. DPDs also display two dynamic tricritical points for only smaller values of crystal-field interactions, multiple critical end and double critical end points, one zero-temperature critical point, one inverse critical end point, and a quadruple point depending on interaction parameters. The system always shows the reentrant behaviors for the higher values of magnetic field amplitude, but it does not exhibit the dynamic tricritical behavior for higher values of crystal-field parameter. By employing a melt‐sintering method, we prepared a new type of ferrimagnetic glass–ceramic foam (FGCF) using ferrimagnetic glass–ceramic and foaming agent SrCO3. The ferrimagnetic glass–ceramics were fabricated based on pyrite slag by a melt‐quenching method. The effects of foaming agent content, sintering temperature and time on microstructure, magnetic properties, microwave absorption performance, compressive strength, and thermal conductivity of the as‐obtained FGCF were analyzed. This foaming process at 1100°C for 40 min with 3‐wt% SrCO3 provided an FGCF with a bulk density of.693 g/cm3, a porosity of 63.60%, a specific saturation magnetic moment of 5.2 A m2/kg, a compressive strength of 2.61 MPa, a thermal conductivity of.241 W/(m K), and the calculated reflection loss of −12.1 dB for a layer thickness of 9 mm. Fluorescence detection is currently one of the commonly used techniques worldwide. Through this work, the preparation and optical properties of an interesting composite material are discussed. It is shown that encapsulating cobalt spinel ferrite (CoFe2O4), obtained by the sol-gel autocombustion method, into poly[diphenyl-co-methyl(H)]silane matrix leads to fluoromagnetic particles (PSCo) with intriguing optical properties. Transmission electron microscopy, combined with energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, showed 500 nm large spherical structures containing a core (around 400 nm in diameter) composed of magnetic ferrite particles, surrounded by a thin layer of semiconductive fluorescent polymer. The as-obtained material exhibited ferrimagnetic properties. The FTIR spectrum confirmed that the Si-H functionality of the polysilane was preserved. UV spectroscopy combined with molecular modeling studies indicated that the magnetic core had a strong influence on the intramolecular electron transitions characteristic of the σ-conjugated polysilane. Further analysis by steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy revealed that the internal magnetic field strongly enhances the polysilane emission. Interfacial mixing of elements is a well-known phenomenon found in thin film deposition. For thin-film magnetic heterostructures, interfacial compositional inhomogeneities can have drastic effects on the resulting functionalities. As such, care must be taken to characterize the compositional and magnetic properties of thin films intended for device use. Recently, ferrimagnetic Mn4N thin films have drawn considerable interest due to exhibiting perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, high domain-wall mobility, and good thermal stability. In this study, we employed x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and polarized neutron reflectometry (PNR) measurements to investigate the interfaces of an epitaxially grown MgO/Mn4N/Pt trilayer deposited at 450 °C. XPS revealed the thickness of elemental mixing regions of near 5 nm at both interfaces. Using PNR, we found that these interfaces exhibit essentially zero net magnetization at room temperature. Despite the high-temperature deposition at 450 °C, the thickness of mixing regions is comparable to those observed in magnetic films deposited at room temperature. Micromagnetic simulations show that this interfacial mixing should not deter the robust formation of small skyrmions, consistent with a recent experiment. The magnon propagation length (MPL) is one of the crucial factors to govern spin transport in a magnetic material. Here, we determine MPL ($\xi$) in compensated ferrimagnetic Gd3Fe5O12 (GdIG) thin films at room temperature by investigating longitudinal spin Seebeck effect (LSSE) in Gd3Ga5O12 (GGG)/GdIG($t$)/Pt (5 nm) heterostructures with different thicknesses ($t$) of the GdIG film. All films possess in-plane (IP) magnetic easy axis, and the compensation temperature shifts down to lower temperature with decreasing GdIG thickness. At room temperature, the LSSE signal is rather constant with thickness between $t = 221$ and 89 nm, but drops significantly below $t = 50$ nm. By fitting the thickness dependence of the LSSE voltage to a modified atomistic spin model considering the influence of saturation magnetization, we obtain $\xi $ = 45 nm ± 8 nm for GdIG thin films at room temperature. The MPL of GdIG is much shorter than that of Y3Fe5O12 films ($\xi $ ~90–140 nm), but higher than that of Fe3O4 films ($\xi $ ~20 nm). The obtained value of $\xi $ explains the drop in the LSSE voltage in GdIG films when the film thickness is reduced below 50 nm, knowledge of which is also essential to the design of spincaloritronic devices based on GdIG films. A Z1-type Fe 3 Pd alloy with negative enthalpy of formation at ambient pressure has been discovered recently, however, its physical properties under high pressures remain unclear. In this work, the effect of pressure on the magnetic, electronic, lattice dynamic, mechanical and thermal properties of the Z1-Fe 3 Pd are investigated thoroughly by the first-principles methods. Under high pressures, the Z1-Fe 3 Pd are energetically favorable compared to other types Fe 3 Pd structures. A pressure-induced magnetic phase transition from ferromagnetic (FM) to ferrimagnetic (FIM) state are found, and the FM and FIM states are dynamically and mechanically stable under high pressures. The electronic density of states for both the FM and FIM states are analyzed to understand their magnetism. These two magnetic configurations are ductile, but their elastic properties and anisotropy are quite different. Additionally, the FM and FIM states have high uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy, the FM state is a semi-hard magnet, and the FIM state undergoes a transition from hard magnet to semi-hard magnet with pressure. Finally, the volume and linear thermal expansion coefficients under high pressure are calculated, and the anisotropy of thermal expansion is also discussed in detail. • A stable Fe 3 Pd structure under high pressure is discovered for the first time. • The pressure-induced magnetic phase transition from ferromagnetic to ferrimagnetic state is determined. • The structural stability is verified by formation enthalpy, phonon and elastic. • Elasticity, thermal expansion and their anisotropies are investigated. • Ferrimagnetic state transforms from a hard magnet to a semi-hard magnet under high pressure. This study investigates the magnetocaloric potential of the Al 50 Cr 21-x Mn 17+x Co 12 (x=0, 4, 8 at%) high-entropy alloy (HEA) series using integrated experimental and theoretical approaches. Structural analysis by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy indicate a dual phase containing B2 and body-centered cubic (BCC) structures. Magnetic characterization shows an approximately linear decrease in saturation magnetization and Curie temperature with increasing Cr content. Curie temperatures calculated by Monte Carlo simulations suggest that the measured magnetic properties originate from the B2 phase rather than the BCC phase. In recent years, cobalt chromites/nickel ferrites have been attractive candidates for significant applications as nanomagnets. In the present work, structural, electronic, vibrational and low-temperature magnetic properties of NiFe 2 O 4, CoCr 2 O 4 , and NiFe 2 O 4 /CoCr 2 O 4 nanocomposites were investigated. Refined XRD patterns and the Raman spectra confirm the formation of the pure crystalline spinel cubic phase. The estimated crystallite size is in the range of 14 - 29 nm. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirm the oxidation state of all elements present in the synthesized samples. The studies of the photoemission core level lines prove the cations distribution in the tetrahedral and octahedral sites with the expected valence states. The magnetic studies reveal the S-type hysteresis loops, confirming the ferrimagnetic nature. The remanent and saturation magnetization increase with increasing NiFe 2 O 4 concentration and decrease with increasing temperature. The magnetization also increases with increase of crystallite size. The temperature-dependent magnetization curve of CoCr 2 O 4 shows the ferrimagnetic phase transition at Curie temperature T C = 86 K. The performed density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate a significant distribution of the density of states over the Fermi level in NiFe 2 O 4 /CoCr 2 O 4 composites as compared to bare NiFe 2 O 4 and CoCr 2 O 4 materials, confirming the improved electronic properties. The overall magnetic analysis proved the magnetization enhancement by increasing x concentration. This work utilizes a multi-scale computational approach combining first-principles density functional theory (DFT) and Monte Carlo statistical simulations to provide fundamental insights into the impacts of vanadium (V) doping on the structural, electronic, magnetic, and thermodynamic properties of wurtzite zinc sulfide (ZnS). 2 × 2 × 2 ZnS supercells with controlled V doping concentrations from 12.5%–25% substituting zinc sites were constructed. The introduction of V dopants induces systematic expansions in lattice parameters and cell volume, attributed to the larger ionic radius of V 2 + than Zn 2 + , while the average compressibility shows minimal variation. However, V incorporation is found to soften ZnS by over 15% at higher dopant contents, increasing compliance and anisotropy. Stable ferromagnetic spin couplings emerge, mediated by host carriers without precipitating V secondary phases. The band structure develops half-metallic electronic properties with the lifting of spin degeneracy and preferential spin-up band metallicity induced by V-3d and S-3p hybridization effects. This results in 100% spin polarization at the Fermi level. Monte Carlo simulations based on a tight-binding Hamiltonian constructed from maximally localized Wannier functions to accurately calculate the exchange interactions between V spins successfully reproduce the magnetic phase transition behavior. The results confirm high Curie temperatures exceeding 300 K at 25% V, attributable to the significant strengthening of short-range ferromagnetic couplings over antiferromagnetic interactions. The integrated computational approach provides fundamental insights into the microscopic origin of carrier-mediated ferromagnetism in V-doped wurtzite ZnS dilute magnetic semiconductors. The systematic first-principles calculations and statistical mechanics modeling establish clear structure–property relationships linking V doping configurations and concentrations to tuned mechanical response, enhanced stability, electronic structure modifications, spin polarization, and magnetic ordering temperatures in ZnS. The results present design pathways and predictive capabilities to guide experimental efforts toward emerging high-performance magnetic materials for spintronic technologies. Polycrystalline samples of DyCo 9 Si 4 with the tetragonal LaFe 9 Si 4 -type structure have been synthesized by arc melting and high-temperature annealing. Results of the magnetization M and specific heat C p measurements show the existence of two magnetic anomalies at T C = 40 K and T m = 20 K. The transition at T C = 40 K is attributed to the ferromagnetic transition of the Co sublattice. The magnetic moments of Dy3+ appear to align gradually below T C , and almost fixed below T m , at which a broad maximum in C p has been observed. Field-dependent M at T = 2 K up to H = 7 T suggested that the magnetic moment of Dy3+ is coupled antiferromagnetically with those of Co, forming a ferrimagnetic structure. Magnetization measurements up to 50 T at low temperatures using a pulse magnet demonstrated a spin-flip transition around H = 20 T, above which the magnetic moments of Co and Dy are in parallel. The spin-flip transition becomes broad with increasing temperature but still remains at T C = 40 K, indicating a strong antiparallel coupling between Co and Dy moments even in the paramagnetic state. The magnetocaloric effect was evaluated from C p and M , and also from the sample-temperature variation in the quasi-adiabatic process with the pulsed magnetic field. The maximum entropy change for the field change from 5 to 0 T was observed at around T = T m with the value Δ S = 5 J/kg K. The maximum temperature of Δ S shifts to higher temperatures in high magnetic fields, resulting in the large value of Δ S = 24 J/kg K at T ∼ T C by the field change from 50 to 0 T. Magnetic properties of multicomponent alloys depend sensitively on the degree of atomic order on the different crystallographic sites. Here we report the contrast between the magnetic properties of bulk and thin-film samples of the Heusler alloy V 2 FeAl. Arc-melted bulk ingots show no site preference of the elements (A2 structure), whereas magnetron-sputtered thin-film samples display a degree of atomic ordering with a tendency towards XA-type order. Electronic structure calculations favour ferrimagnetic XA-type order, and the effect of different pairwise atomic disorder on the element specific and net magnetic moments are evaluated to reproduce experimental observations. XA-type thin-films with iron moment of 1.24 μ B determined by X-ray magnetic circular dichroism are in agreement with calculation, but the measured net moment of 1.0 μ B per formula unit and average vanadium moment are smaller than expected from calculations. The measured Curie temperature is approximately 500 K. Films with a higher degree of disorder have a lower T C , close to 300 K, with a net moment of only 0.1 μ B at low temperature. The large calculated vanadium moments are destroyed by partial disorder on 4 d vanadium sites. By contrast, the arc-melted and annealed bulk alloy with a fully-disordered A2 structure shows no spontaneous magnetization at any temperature; it is a Pauli paramagnet with dimensionless susceptibility χ v = 2.95 × 10-4. Single-domain Co0.5Cu0.5Fe2O4 ferrite nanoparticles with a crystallite size of 23 nm were hydrothermally prepared and characterized using x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometry. According to the Rietveld refinement results, the prepared nanoparticles were single-phase with spinel type structures. The transmission electron microscope measurements demonstrated that the nanoparticles were spherical in shape. The FT-IR spectrum showed two principle absorption bands, confirming the characteristic features of cubic spinel ferrites. Magnetization data revealed that the prepared nanoparticles were ferrimagnetic from room temperature to 10 K, with well-defined saturation magnetization, coercivity, and remanence magnetization. The remanence magnetization and coercivity were found to increase with decreasing temperature. The value of room temperature squareness ratio (Mr/Ms) of 0.42 was found to be somewhat similar to that expected (0.5) for a system of noninteracting single-domain nanoparticles, suggesting that the prepared nanoparticles are in a single-domain regime. The temperature dependence of coercivity was found to have slight deviations from Kneller's law, possibly due to interactions between nanoparticles. The zero field cooled–field cooled curves indicated that below 150 K, the nanoparticles were ferrimagnetic dressed with spin-glass behavior, resulting from interactions between the ferrimagnetic nanoparticles and/or random freezing of surface spins. A ternary nanocomposite made of nanomaghemite, nanoanatase, and graphene oxide has been successfully synthesized using an inorganic coprecipitation approach, and it has been systematically investigated by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and different spectrocopic techniques (electron energy loss, µ-Raman, and 57Fe Mössbauer) after interaction with an effluent containing Daphnia magna individuals. Specifically, the influence of the nanocomposite over the Daphnia magna carapace, administered in two doses (0.5 mg mL−1 and 1 mg mL−1), has been characterized using µ-Raman spectroscopy before and after laser burning protocols, producing information about the physicochemical interaction with the biomarker. The thermal stability of the nanocomposite was found to be equal to 500 °C, where the nanoanatase and the nanomaghemite phases have respectively conserved their structural identities. The magnetic properties of the nanomaghemite have also been kept unchanged even after the high-temperature experiments and exposure to Daphnia magna. In particular, the size, texture, and structural and morphological properties of the ternary nanocomposite have not shown any significant physicochemical modifications after magnetic decantation recuperation. A significant result is that the graphene oxide reduction was kept even after the ecotoxicological assays. These sets of observations are based on the fact that while the UV-Vis spectrum has confirmed the graphene oxide reduction with a localized peak at 260 nm, the 300-K and 15-K 57Fe Mössbauer spectra have only revealed the presence of stoichiometric maghemite, i.e., the two well-defined static magnetic sextets often found in the bulk ferrimagnetic counterpart phase. The Mössbauer results have also agreed with the trivalent-like valence state of Fe ions, as also suggested by electron energy loss spectroscopy data. Thus, the ternary nanocomposite does not substantially affect the Daphnia magna, and it can be easily recovered using an ordinary magnetic decantation protocol due to the ferrimagnetic-like character of the nanomaghemite phase. Consequently, it shows remarkable physicochemical properties for further reuse, such as cleaning by polluted effluents, at least where Daphnia magna species are present. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Large magnetic field-induced strains can be achieved in modulated martensite for Ni-Mn-In alloys; however, the metastability of the modulated martensite imposes serious constraints on the ability of these alloys to serve as promising sensor and actuator materials. The phase stability, magnetic properties, and electronic structure of the modulated martensite in the Ni2Mn1.5In0.5 alloy are systematically investigated. Results show that the 6M and 5M martensites are metastable and will eventually transform to the NM martensite with the lowest total energy in the Ni2Mn1.5In0.5 alloy. The physical properties of the incommensurate 7M modulated martensite (7M–IC) and nanotwinned 7M martensite ( 7 M − (5 2 ¯) 2 ) are also calculated. The austenite (A) and 7 M − (5 2 ¯) 2 phases are ferromagnetic (FM), whereas the 5M, 6M, and NM martensites are ferrimagnetic (FIM), and the FM coexists with the FIM state in the 7M–IC martensite. The calculated electronic structure demonstrates that the splitting of Jahn–Teller effect and the strong Ni–Mn bonding interaction lead to the enhancement of structural stability. Two-dimensional (2D) ferromagnets with high Curie temperature TC are desirable for spintronics applications. However, they are rarely obtained in experiments mainly due to the challenge of synthesizing high-quality 2D crystals, and their TC values are below room temperature. Using first-principles calculations, we design a family of stable 2D FenGeTe2 (4 ≤ n ≤ 7) ultrathin films with coexisting itinerant and localized magnetism. Among them, 2D Fe3GeTe2 and Fe4GeTe2 are ferromagnetic metals with TC = 138 and 68 K; 2D Fe5GeTe2, Fe6GeTe2, and Fe7GeTe2 are Néel's P-, R-, and R-type ferrimagnetic metals with TC = 320, 450, and 570 K. A thickness-induced magnetic phase transition originates from competition between itinerant and localized states, and also correlates with Fe3+ and Fe2+ content. A valence/orbital-dependent magnetic exchange model is proposed for these effects. Our results reveal a universal mechanism for magnetic coupling in complex magnetic systems. 2D magnetism offers the prospect of ordered and controllable magnetic states at reduced dimensions and there is a desire to obtain materials which can realise these properties at room temperature. Z-type hexagonal ferrites have recently received attention for their room-temperature magnetoelectric (ME), which is activated when the temperature at which the transverse-conical spin-state transitions to a ferrimagnetic state is increased. The changes in the magnetic domain structure at the transition have been well-documented; however, they are still not understood in detail. In the present study, Lorentz transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis combined with an in situ heating experiment was conducted to demonstrate the shift in magnetic domain structure during the transition from the transverse-conical spin arrangement to a ferrimagnetic spin order. The dynamics of the magnetic domain structure changes with the increasing temperature were acquired in real-time. At 490 K, the magnetization transition from the transverse-conical spin state to the ferromagnetic state was demonstrated. Cross-tie domain walls formed during the magnetic transition process. The increased effect of the demagnetizing field applied to the 180° magnetic domains was caused by a lower magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA) at the easy axis of magnetization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
