This research evaluated the effects of diets containing or not containing deactivated soybean sums on productive performance, carcass attributes, carcass ultrasound, and feed cost in confined heifers with 1/2 Nellore-Angus blood. We used blood from 60 1/2 Nellore-Angus heifers aged 2 or 25 years with a body weight of 404.62 kg. A completely randomized design was used, in which the animals were divided into 2 experimental groups: Cont (concentrated for semi feedlot without added deactivated soybean) and Bocchi (concentrated for semi feedlot with the addition of deactivated soybeans). There was no significant difference in the final weight between the experimental groups or for the consumption of concentrate in the evaluation periods. However, heifers supplemented with deactivated soybean in the diet showed greater daily weight gain than did those in the Cont group, as well as greater carcass weight, arrobas gain, and carcass yield. Bocchi concentrate was less expensive than Cont (U$ 7.26 ton-1). The addition of deactivated soybean for finishing cattle is indicated because it provided the animals with higher energy intake and positively influenced the productive performance as a final weight gain greater than that of the feed without adding the deactivated soybean in addition to lower production cost.

This study evaluated the effects of two chemical additives or a microbial inoculant on chemical composition and DM losses in whole-plant soybean silage. One-hundred and twenty mini-silos were used in a completely randomized design experiment with the following treatments: water without chloride (control, CON); a microbial inoculant (INO); a chemical additive containing 35–45% formic acid (FA type); and another chemical additive containing 50–60% propionic acid (PA type). Data were analyzed using mixed models of SAS, and treatment differences were evaluated by the following orthogonal contrasts: C1 = CON vs. additives (INO + FA type + PA type); C2 = INO vs. chemical additives (FA type + PA type); and C3 = PA type vs. FA type. Silage pH and ammonia nitrogen concentration were decreased, and concentrations of lactic acid and acetic acid were increased with additives. Counts of lactic acid bacteria were higher in silages with INO than with chemical additives. DM recovery increased with FA type and PA type. Additives increased DM and CP concentrations. Silage A-fraction proportion was greater with additives. Additives, particularly FA type and PA type, improved chemical composition and fermentative profile and reduced undigestible proportions of protein in whole-plant soybean silage. Chemical additives were more effective in reducing silage DM losses than INO.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance of the thermopotassium and thermophosphate agrominerals, as sources of P and K, in an organic pasture consortium of 'Marandu' Urochloa brizantha + Stylosanthes spp. in the Brazilian Cerrado. The organic management was compared with conventional farming using chemical fertilizers, during three years, in two adjacent experiments, one with and the other without previous growth of green manure (Crotalaria juncea). The management treatments were: conventional, with the application of 200 kg ha-1 potassium chloride, 260 kg ha-1 triple superphosphate, and 217 kg ha-1 urea; organic, with the application of 1.0 Mg ha-1 thermophosphate, 2.0 Mg ha-1 termopotassium, and 7.0 Mg ha-1 chicken manure; and control, without fertilizers. Soil fertility, dry mass production, and legume content in the pasture were evaluated. The experiment with green manure resulted in a significant increase in the soil-extractable contents of P and K and in pasture productivity. In the organic treatment, due to the slow release of agromineral nutrients, long-term effects are observed on the soil-extractable contents of P and K.

Morphological characteristics, dry matter production, and nutritional values of winter forage and grains were evaluated. This study was conducted from April 24, 2012 to November 7, 2013 in the Western Paraná State University (UNIOESTE), Marechal Cândido Rondon, Brazil. Pastures under one grazing and non-grazing conditions were evaluated under 120 kg N ha-1 fertilization split into two 60 kg N ha-1 treatments. Two pastures received 40 kg N ha-1 three times. IPR 126 oat, BRS Tarumã wheat, and IPR 111 triticale were the test crops. Topdressing with 40 or 60 kg N ha-1 did not change morphological characteristics until 60 d after sowing. Pastures under non-grazing that received 120 kg N ha-1 treatments were taller than the controls, whereas those under grazing that received 80 or 120 kg N ha-1 presented with higher leaf production than did the controls. Total average dry matter (DM) production in 2012 and 2013 was, respectively, 5,275 kg ha-1 and 6,270 kg ha-1 for oat, 3,166 kg ha-1 and 7,423 kg ha-1 for wheat, and 4,552 kg ha-1 and 7,603 kg ha-1 for triticale. Split N fertilization did not cause differences in the levels of crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent fiber (ADF) in the forage. Nevertheless, increases in in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) were observed in oat and wheat receiving 60 kg N ha-1 during the first graze. IVDMD did not change in oat, wheat, and triticale forages receiving 80 or 120 kg N ha-1 during the second graze. Grazing did not affect the nutritional values of wheat and triticale grains, but reduced those of oat. Therefore, the results of the present study suggest that grazing lengthens the crop cycles, and so allow the staggered sowing of summer crops.

ABSTRACT This study was undertaken to determine the effects of chitosan and whole raw soybean on nutrient intake and total tract digestion, nitrogen utilization, microbial protein synthesis, blood metabolites, and energy balance of dairy heifers. Twelve Jersey heifers (6±0.5 months of age and 139.50±25.56 kg of live weight; mean ± standard deviation) were randomly assigned to a replicated Latin square design with a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. The experimental period consisted of 14 days of adaptation to diets, six days of sampling, and five days of washout. The experimental diets were: control (CO); chitosan (CHI, inclusion of 2.0 g kg−1 DM of chitosan); whole raw soybean (WS, 163.0 g kg−1 of WS on diet DM basis); and chitosan + whole raw soybean (CHI+WS). Chitosan decreased dry matter and neutral detergent fiber intakes; however, CHI increased DM total tract digestion. An interaction effect was observed on retained nitrogen, which increased when animals were fed CHI+WS compared with CO or CHI, but did not differ from that of animals fed WS. Chitosan decreased microbial nitrogen and crude protein flow of heifers. Energy balance was improved when heifers received diets containing WS. Efficiency of energy utilization was not affected by experimental diets. An interaction effect was observed for blood high-density lipoprotein (HDL) concentration, which increased with both dietary inclusion of CHI and WS compared with the other diets, and CHI provided the lowest value of HDL cholesterol. The aim of the experiment was to evaluate the characteristics of the carcasses and meat of feedlot lambs that received diets supplemented with sunflower cake; correlations among the variables were also performed. The experimental design was a randomized block design with four treatments (sunflower cake added at 0, 10, 20, and 30% dry matter to the base diet) and seven replications per treatment. This study aimed to evaluate animal performance and economic performance of feedlot crossbred lambs (½ Santa Inês+ ½ Suffolk) fed different diets based on hay from Cynodon dactylon genotypes, through the use of financial measures considering only the period of confinement, without relating it to the complete management cycle. A total of 30 intact crossbred Suffolk lambs, identified with earrings, with an average age of 90 days and an average body weight of 21.5 kg were used in this study. Diets were formulated using as treatments a standard concentrate and hay of the Cynodon dactylon genotypes Jiggs, Vaquero, Tifton 68, Coast-Cross, Tifton 85 and Russell in a 60:40 forage-to-concentrate ratio. The treatments were distributed in a randomized complete block design with five replicates. There were significant differences between diets in terms of total expenditure on food, and the highest values were obtained for the Jiggs genotype (BRL 48.96/animal). The animals fed diets based on Tifton 68 hay had a higher rate of return (2.16%) and profitability (34.63%) compared to the other diets. The use of diets based on Tifton 68 hay for feedlot lambs in the finishing phase brings higher economic returns compared to the remaining diets.

This study aimed to evaluate the kinetics of dry matter degradation and neutral detergent fiber of banana peel treated with limestone. The banana peel has been acquired from a candy manufacturer that after washing with chlorinated water to 1% and pulp removal was discarded. The banana peel in nature was treated with 1, 2, 3 and 4% of limestone in the natural matter, homogenized and pre-dried in the sun for 120 hours. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized experimental design, with five treatments (0 (control), 1, 2, 3 and 4% inclusion of limestone) with 3 repetitions. The dry matter potential degradability, showed no difference (P>0.05) in the levels compared to the control with an average of 67.58%. The insoluble degradation fraction rate of dry matter and the fiber fraction did not differ (P> 0.05) between levels and control. In relation to effective degradability of neutral detergent fiber, there was an increase of 3.47% for each percentage unit increased limestone. In relation to the ruminal degradation parameters of dry matter and neutral detergent fiber is not recommended the utilization of limestone as an additive in the treatment of banana peel.

The objective of this study was to compare alternative devices and tissues for the determination of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) with the conventional method. Two tissues, nylon (50 μm) and TNT (100 g/m²), and two devices (fiber digester and autoclave) were used for the determination of NDF and ADF content compared to the conventional method. A completely randomized experimental design, which consisted of five treatments and 10 repetitions, was used. The NDF content obtained with TNT in the two devices differed from that obtained with the conventional method (P0.01), indicating this combination as a possible alternative to the conventional method. There was no difference (P>0.01) between the alternative methods for the analysis of NDF. The content of ADF differed between the devices and tissues evaluated (P0.01) and may be indicated as a practical alternative for the analysis of ADF. The NDF content obtained with nylon tissue, irrespective of the equipment used, and the ADF content obtained with nylon tissue in the fiber digester were similar to the conventional method.

Avaliou-se características morfológicas, a produção de matéria seca e o valor nutricional da forragem e grãos de culturas de inverno. O trabalho foi desenvolvido de 24/04/2012 a 07/11/2013 na UNIOESTE. Foram avaliados os manejos sem pastejo e um pastejo (ambos com 120 kg ha-1 de N em duas aplicações de 60 kg ha-1) e dois pastejos com três aplicações de N de 40 kg ha-1 nas culturas da aveia IPR 126, trigo BRS Tarumã e triticale IPR 111. A adubação em cobertura das doses de 40 ou 60 kg ha-1 de N não alteraram as características morfológicas até 60 dias após a semeadura. As parcelas sem pastejo e com 120 kg ha-1 de N em duas doses de 60 kg ha-1 de N cada tiveram, em 2012 e 2013, maior altura, enquanto as pastejadas com 80 ou 120 kg ha-1 de N tiveram maior proporção de folhas. A média da produção total de MS em 2012 e 2013 respectivamente foi de: aveia 5275 e 6270 kg ha-1; trigo 3166 e 7423 kg ha-1; triticale 4552 e 7603 kg ha-1. Na forragem não foram observadas diferenças nos teores de PB, FDN e FDA em função do parcelamento de N, mas 60 kg ha-1 de N aumenta a DIVMS na aveia e trigo no primeiro pastejo e 80 ou 120 kg ha-1 de N não alteram a digestibilidade da forragem das três culturas no segundo pastejo. O pastejo não altera o valor nutricional de grãos de trigo e triticale, mas reduz nos grãos de aveia. Os ciclos das culturas são diferentes e aumenta com os pastejos e por isso permitem a semeadura escalonada com as culturas de verão.

This study aimed to evaluate body morphometry and qualitative traits of carcasses and meat of lambs in a feedlot, fed hay Cynodon genotypes: Jiggs, Vaquero, Tifton 68, Coast -Cross, Tifton 85 and Russel. The diets had forage to concentrate ratio of 60:40 for all levels of performance. The experimental design was a randomized block design with 6 treatments and 5 animals per treatment, randomly assigned according to body weight. There was no significant difference in slaughter weight, yield of carcass muscle and hot, with average values of 33.67 kg, 42.74 and 53.20%, respectively. There was a significant difference for heart girth and length of carcass, where the animals of the treatment Jiggs had greater in vivo measurements (78.40 and 67.60 cm, respectively). To the perimeter of leg, carcasses relating to Russel and Vaquero treatments had lesser extent. Lambs supplemented with hay Cynodon had potential for production of carcasses and meat quality.

The present study evaluated the effects of supplements on the productive performance and economical parameters of beef steers on pastures during the dry season. Twenty-four castrated steers with average age and weight of eighteen months and 269 kg, respectively, were evaluated in the following treatments: pasture without minerals (P); pasture and mineral salt (PMS) and pasture and mineral salt plus urea (PMSU). The chemical composition showed low contents of crude protein and high values of neutral and acid detergent fiber for forages sampled in the form of complete collection compared with the grazing simulation technique. The supplementation with mineral salt plus urea led to a higher average daily gain (p < 0.05) than the animals on pasture without mineral. However, when the average daily gain was expressed per metabolic weight, the supplementation with mineral salt plus urea was superior (p < 0.05). The supplementation of animals on pasture proved economically profitable, and the use of mineral salt with urea in the dry season enables a better performance at viable costs.

As interações entre fatores de produção animal e o impacto ambiental, causado por diversas atividades, tem apresentado cada dia mais, discussão e pesquisas relacionadas com mudanças climáticas mundiais e perdas de energia do animal na forma de metano produzido durante a fermentação entérica. Com o incremento da preocupação do aquecimento global e seus impactos, as atividades antrópicas têm sido referenciadas por contribuir com aquecimento do planeta. Sendo a pecuária apontada como uma das atividades que prejudicam o meio ambiente. O Brasil é o país que apresenta o maior rebanho bovino comercial do mundo, além de apresentar um amplo território explorado na forma de pastagens que são fonte de alimentação para os ruminantes. Sendo assim, objetivou-se por meio deste documento reunir informações referentes à utilização de bioprodutos do cerrado brasileiro na alimentação de ruminantes para redução da produção de metano. Diversos alimentos aditivos têm sido utilizados visando mitigar o metano entérico produzido pelos ruminantes, no entanto, pouco ainda são as pesquisas com alimentos oriundos do cerrado Brasileiro. Algumas das vantagens destes alimentos são a grande disponibilidade ao longo do ano e o baixo custo de produção, uma vez que os mesmos são extraídos da natureza.

It was aimed to evaluate the chemical composition of grass silage-mombasa associated with different additives in four times of opening the silo. The experiment was conducted in UFGD. After harvesting the forage, biomass in natura crushed, was taken to the lab, homogenized and enriched on the basis of natural mass, with the following additives: 5% wheat bran, 5% of waste (broken grain and soy ice cream cone) of soybean, 5% urea in natural matter and the witness (without additive).The silos were opened after (unprocessed material), 15, 30 and 45 days, for the analysis of chemical composition. The data obtained were analyzed through the statistical programme SISVAR and averages were compared to 5% of probability, by Skott-Knot. The grass silage- mombasa without additive presented major (P0.05) of grass silage- mombasa associated with 5 of urea in 15 days and 45 of silage. The grass silage-mombasa with 5% urea showed the highest crude protein content at time 0 and differed from other treatments. The silage of mombasa associated with 5% urea provided greater in vitro digestibility of dry matter to 15 days of silage.

The aim of this work was to determine ruminal degradation of neutral detergent fiber of grasses of the genus Cynodon, harvested at four cutting ages. It was used a randomized block design, with five treatments arranged in a split plot, the five evaluated genotypes: Tifton 85, Jiggs, Russel, Tifton 68 and Vaquero; were the plots and ages of cutting were the subplots: 28, 48, 63 and 79 days. By adding one day in the cutting age, there was a linear reduction in the effective degradability of neutral detergent fiber of blade and stem of 0.16 and 0.18%, respectively. The increase in the cutting age had a linear and positive influence on the undegradable neutral detergent fiber with daily increments for leaf and stem of 0.12 and 0.18%, respectively. At the 28 regrowth day, all genotypes showed higher content of potentially degradable insoluble fraction, effective degradability and lower undegradable fraction of the neutral detergent fiber of blade and stem in relation to other ages, in this way this interval is recommended for cutting management.

Este trabalho foi desenvolvido com objetivo de avaliar o efeito de níveis de cal virgem e calcário sobre a composição química e a digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca da casca de banana. O experimento foi realizado em um delineamento experimental inteiramente ao acaso em esquema fatorial, sendo quatro níveis mais a testemunha, dois aditivos (cal virgem e calcário) e três repetições. Os níveis de inclusão de cal virgem e calcário foram de 1, 2, 3 e 4% da matéria natural de casca de banana. As amostras foram pré-secas ao sol durante 120 horas e posteriormente analisadas. Observou-se aumento nos teores de matéria seca com o suprimento de cal em relação à testemunha, exceto para o nível de 4% de cal virgem que foi 3,84% inferior à testemunha (78,75%). Para o teor de proteína bruta as médias ajustaram-se ao modelo linear de regressão, sendo observada redução de 0,63% para cada 1% de inclusão de cal virgem e calcário na matéria natural. O teor de fibra em detergente neutro não foi influenciado (P>0,05) pela ação da cal virgem e calcário em relação á testemunha com média geral de 50,48%. Não se constatou efeito (P>0,05) dos níveis de cal e calcário sobre a digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca da casca de banana que apresentou média de 58,50%. Não se recomenda a utilização de cal virgem e calcário, com baixo teor de óxido de cálcio, nos níveis avaliados.

This study aimed to evaluate the performance of feedlot lambs fed diets formulated with hay of different genotypes of Cynodon spp. and to compare the dry matter digestibility of diets using different evaluation methods (total fecal collection and chromium oxide). Suffolk crossbred neutered male lambs (n=30), with an average age of 90 days and average body weight of 21.5 kg ± 1.6. Diets were formulated using a standard concentrate and hay of the following genotypes of Cynodon dactylon: Jiggs, Vaquero, Tifton 68, Coast-Cross, Tifton 85 and Russell, in a 60:40 forage concentrate ratio, composing the treatments distributed in a randomized block design in a factorial 5 x 2 arrangement of 5 diets and 2 digestibility evaluation methods. Animals receiving Vaquero hay showed dry matter intake of 18.3; 16.9; 25.6; 20.7 and 24.2% higher than those fed hay of Jiggs, Tifton 68, Coast Cross, Tifton 85 and Russell, respectively. There was no difference between diets for digestibility using total fecal collection, chromium oxide and final weight of animals. Jiggs hay based diets allowed greater daily weight gain and better feed conversion.

Avaliou-se a digestibilidade in vitro da massa seca (DIVMS) de cinco genótipos de Cynodon: Tifton 85, Jiggs, Russel, Tifton 68 e Vaquero, amostradas em quatro idades de rebrota (28, 48, 63 e 79 dias). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi de blocos ao acaso, com os tratamentos arranjados em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, sendo os cinco genótipos em estudo as parcelas e as quatro idades de rebrota as subparcelas, com quatro repetições. Na avaliação da digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca, os genótipos apresentaram diferenças significativas dentro de cada estrutura (planta inteira, lâmina foliar e o colmo), sendo que o Tifton 68 expressou os maiores valores, 78,15; 81,72 e 75,45%, respectivamente para planta inteira, lâmina e colmo. Com o avanço da idade de rebrota das forrageiras reduziram os teores de digestibilidade da matéria seca para todos os genótipos. Recomenda-se que todos os genótipos devem apresentar uma frequência de corte a cada 28 dias em função dos melhores valores de digestibilidade.

Objetivou-se por meio deste trabalho avaliar a produção de Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu sob diferentes doses de nitrogênio em dois períodos do ano, na região Norte de Minas Gerais. Utilizou-se um delineamento em blocos casualizados, com esquema fatorial 4 x 2, composto de quatro doses de nitrogênio (100; 200; 300 e 400 kg ha-1), dois períodos do ano (inverno e verão) e com quatro blocos. A produção de matéria seca foi maior no período do verão em relação ao período de inverno. A adubação nitrogenada aumentou a produção em matéria seca do capim-marandu em 452,91% no verão e no inverno aumentou em 176,69%, em relação à dose 100 kg de nitrogênio. A relação lâmina foliar:colmo reduziu no verão em função do incremento de nitrogênio. A cada 1 kg ha-1 de nitrogênio aplicado no verão ocorreu redução de 0,39% na porcentagem de folha enquanto no inverno houve incremento de 0,06%. O teor de matéria seca (MS) aumentou linearmente com o suprimento de nitrogênio, sendo que para cada quilo de nitrogênio aplicado, tanto no verão quanto no inverno, houve aumento de 4,57%. O capim-marandu adubado com doses crescente de nitrogênio na Região Norte de Minas sob irrigação, responde a doses de até 400 kg de N ha-1.

Objetivou-se por meio deste trabalho avaliar a degradabilidade ruminal da FDN da planta inteira de diferentes gramíneas pertencentes ao gênero Cynodon spp. em diferentes idades ao corte (28; 48; 63 e 79). O experimento foi realizado no campo agrostológico pertencente à Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados-MS. Foram utilizados três novilhos castrados, com 40 meses de idade e peso aproximado de 450 Kg, canulados no rúmen. As amostras foram incubadas em ordem decrescente de tempo no rúmen nos tempos de 96, 48, 36, 12, 6 e 0 horas. Foram avaliados cinco genótipos: Tifton 85; Jiggs, Russel, Tifton 68 e Vaquero. A fração “a” e “b” da FDN para o Tifton 68 foi de 14,49% e 60,78% aos 79 dias, respectivamente. To evaluate the chemical composition and dry matter in vitro digestibility of concentrates with partial substitution of soybean meal with sunflower crushed, was used a randomized design with four treatments and four replications. The concentrates were composed of corn and soybean meal replaced by the sunflower crushes, in rates of 0, 20, 40 and 60%. The CP levels were not affected by the inclusion of sunflower crushed (P> 0.05), with mean of 28.1%, but the levels of EE, CF, NDF and ADF, where the replacement of 60% of soybean meal showed an average of 11.00, 14.78, 32.48 and 18.73% respectively. The increase in ADF, decreases total (TC) and non-structural (NEC) carbohydrates, DMIVD and TDN. The C00 had a higher IVDMD, 13.71% superiority of the C60, while C20 showed 8.96% of superiority. The TC and NEC reduced after 40% replacement, with an average of 57.62 and 26.15%. Concentrates with sunflower crushed presents average of NDT of 78.79%, reduction of 7.43% compared to the C00. Replacing up to 60% of soybean meal with sunflower crushed in concentrates; change the chemical composition and dry matter in vitro digestibility.

Avaliou-se a degradabilidade in situ, dos grãos de linhaça, canola, colza e milho, caroço de algodão, e dos concentrados casca e farelo de soja, em ovinos. Foram utilizados três animais da raça Santa Inês, fistulados e providos de cânulas ruminais, mantidos em baias individuais, recebendo diariamente capim picado e ração concentrada. Os alimentos foram incubados em ordem decrescente de 72, 48, 24, 18, 6, 3 e 0h. O teor de proteína dos alimentos avaliados foram 34,77; 30,07; 23,70; 10,64; 26,12; 14,65 e 56,90% para canola, colza, linhaça, milho, caroço de algodão, casca de soja e farelo de soja, respectivamente. A canola e a colza apresentaram baixa degradabilidade efetiva para a MS, com valor médio de 33,68%. O grão de linhaça apresentou degradabilidade efetiva para a MS de 64,24%, com fração potencialmente degradável de 87,89%. A produção animal por um longo período de tempo teve como sustentáculo da alimentação a vegetação nativa. Entretanto, no transcorrer das últimas cinco décadas tem-se observado um esforço para se produzir a alimentação do rebanho através dos cultivos de plantas forrageiras. Várias gramíneas têm sido avaliadas, ao longo dos anos, para a formação de pastagens, buscando-se, sobretudo, elevada produtividade e persistência. O capim-buffel é a gramínea que, atualmente, apresenta-se com maior destaque nas pastagens cultivadas das regiões secas. Originário da África, Índia e Indonésia foi introduzido na Austrália nos anos de 1870 a 1880, e a partir daí tem sido estudado e selecionado diversas variedades. Sabe-se que o valor nutritivo de uma planta forrageira é representado pela associação da composição bromatológica, da digestibilidade e do consumo voluntário da forrageira pelos animais em pastejo. Assim sendo, é de grande importância o conhecimento da produção de matéria seca (MS), do teor de proteína bruta (PB) e de fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), além de outros fatores. Objetiva-se com esta revisão reunir informações mais relevantes sobre o capim-buffel visando explanar dados científicos para facilitar a utilização deste material na intensificação da produção animal em sistemas pastoris para ruminantes.

Avaliou-se a degradabilidade in situ, dos grãos de linhaça, canola, colza e milho, caroço de algodão, e dos concentrados casca e farelo de soja, em ovinos. Foram utilizados três animais da raça Santa Inês, fistulados e providos de cânulas ruminais, mantidos em baias individuais, recebendo diariamente capim picado e ração concentrada. Os alimentos foram incubados em ordem decrescente de 72, 48, 24, 18, 6, 3 e 0h. O teor de proteína dos alimentos avaliados foram 34,77; 30,07; 23,70; 10,64; 26,12; 14,65 e 56,90% para canola, colza, linhaça, milho, caroço de algodão, casca de soja e farelo de soja, respectivamente. A canola e a colza apresentaram baixa degradabilidade efetiva para a MS, com valor médio de 33,68%. O grão de linhaça apresentou degradabilidade efetiva para a MS de 64,24%, com fração potencialmente degradável de 87,89%. Avaliou-se a degradabilidade ruminal in situ, em ovinos dos grãos e coprodutos de girassol, soja e crambe, em três ovinos da raça Santa Inês com peso de 40 kg, fistulados e providos de cânulas ruminais, mantidos em baias individuais. Os alimentos foram incubados em ordem decrescente de 72, 48, 24, 18, 6, 3 e 0h. A fração potencialmentedegradável da MS para a torta de girassol foi 73,7% e da PB 34,6%, o que proporcionou média degradação ruminal para PB. O grão de girassol apresentou baixa degradabilidade ruminal para a MS e PB (33,55 e 25,98%). A torta de soja apresentou fração solúvel de 23,15 e 7,79%, para a MS e PB, com uma degradabilidade efetiva de 75,6 e 70,89%, enquanto que o grão de soja apresentou baixa fração solúvel para MS e PB (4,79 e 8,73%), acarretando baixa degradabilidade ruminal. O grão de crambe e a torta de crambe apresentaram os maiores teores de FDA, e baixa degradabilidade ruminal, tanto para a MS como para a PB.Os valores para a fração potencialmente degradável e fração solúvel foram semelhantes. Os alimentos avaliados apresentaram média degradabilidade ruminal, exceto a torta de soja que apresentou maior valor de degradabilidade ruminal.Ruminal degradability of crambe, sunflower and soybean grains and their by-products in sheep was evaluated by an “in situ” technique. Three 40 kg-Santa Ines fistulated sheep provided with ruminal cannula and kept in individual pens were analyzed. Feeds were incubated in the rumen in the following decreasing order 72, 48, 24, 18, 6, 3 and 0h. The potentially degradable fraction for DM in sunflower meal amounted to 73.7%, whereas it reached 34.6% in the case of CP, with medium ruminal degradation. Sunflower grain had low ruminal degradability for DM and CP (33.55 and 25.98%). Crushed soybean grain had soluble fraction of 23.15 and 7.79% respectively for DM and CP, with an effective degradability of 75.6 and 70.89%. Further, soybean whole grain presented low soluble fraction for DM and CP, respectively 4.79 and 8.73%, with low ruminal degradability. Crambewhole grain and crushed meal had the highest ADF rates, with low ruminal degradability for DM and CP. Rates for potentially degradable and soluble fraction were similar. Evaluated feeds had medium ruminal degradability, except for soybean crushed meal with the highest rate in ruminal degradability.

The chemical composition of four forage sorghum hybrids was evaluated under three doses of nitrogen (N). The experimental design was in randomized blocks in a 4x3 factorial scheme with four repetitions. Dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), soluble carbohydrates (SCs), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), hemicellulose (Hem) and lignin (Lig) were determinate through Spectrophotometry of Reflectance in Proximal Infrared. The dates were analysed for SISVAR 4.6 program comparing average by Tukey test 5% probability. The DM contents differed (P0.05) among varieties and N doses, both cuts. The SCs ranged between doses in the first cut and the varieties in the second cut (13.7%). The ADF and NDF tenors didn’t differed (P>0.05) in N doses in both cut, however the varieties showed difference. The Hem differed between varieties and N doses. The hybrids evaluated presented adequate chemical compositions regarding the process of ensilaging. Avaliou-se a composição bromatológica de quatro híbridos de sorgo forrageiro sob doses de nitrogênio (N). Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 4 x 3, com quatro repetições. Foram determinados os teores de matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta (PB), carboidratos solúveis (CHOs), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ácido (FDA), hemicelulose (Hem) e lignina (Lig), de acordo com a técnica da espectrofotometria de refletância no infravermelho proximal. Analisaram-se os dados pelo programa SISVAR 4.6, testando-se os fatores pelo teste Tukey a 5% de probabilidade. Os valores de MS diferiram (P0,05) entre os híbridos e doses de N, em ambos os cortes. Os CHOs apresentaram variação entre as doses no primeiro corte e entre os híbridos no segundo corte (13,7%). Os teores de FDN e FDA não diferiram (P>0,05) em função das doses de N em ambos os cortes, entretanto houve diferença entre os híbridos. A Hem diferiu entre os híbridos e as doses de N. Avaliaram-se os parâmetros ruminal (pH e N-NH3) e plasmático (ureia) de vacas mestiças (holandês x zebu) não-lactantes, canuladas no rúmen, inoculadas ou não com 28 g/animal/dia de nitrogênio não-proteico. Mantiveram-se os animais em estábulos, em que água, suplemento mineral e feno de Brachiaria brizantha triturado eram oferecidos à vontade. Os tratamentos foram: TC (controle – sem inoculação de fonte de nitrogênio); TU (inoculação de ureia pecuária) e TUP (inoculação ureia polímero). Os tempos de observação foram: 0; 0,5; 1,0; 1,5; 2,0; 2,5; 3,0; 3,5; 4,0; 4,5; 5,0; 5,5; 6,0; 9,0; 12 e 24 horas após a inoculação da fonte de nitrogênio no rúmen. Utilizou-se como delineamento experimental o quadrado latino 3 x 3 duplicado. Fez-se a comparação entre as médias pelo teste de Scott-Knott a 5% de probabilidade. The objective this experiment was to evaluate the chemical composition and in vitro dry matter digestibility of Tanzania grass under increasing nitrogen levels in different cutting ages, under irrigation. The treatments were three N levels (ammonium sulphate): 200, 400 and 600 kg.ha-1 for year and four cutting ages: 28; 56; 84 and 112 days. A randomized complete blocks design in factorial 3x4 arrangement (three N levels and four cutting ages, with three repetitions) was used. The analyses were accomplished using the sta-tistical System of Analysis of Variance of Data Balanced (SISVAR) program. The objective of this study was to evaluate the nu-tritional parameters of silage from four forage sorghum cultivars submitted to three nitrogen rates. A randomized block experimental design was used, arranged as a 4×3 fac-torial combination (four cultivars × three nitrogen rates), with four replicates. The following cultivars were used: 1F 305; 0369 267; 0369 255; and BR 700. Nitrogen rates were: 0; 60; and 120 Kg N.ha-1 (in the form of ammonium sulfate). Tukey test (5%) was used to compare means. DM contents were different (P0.05) between cul-tivars and N rates, with means of 46.54% (control), 49.60, and 50.07% obtained with the application of 60 and 120 kg.ha-1 N, respectively. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar as características agronômicas de quatro cultivares de sorgo forrageiros, submetidas a três doses de nitrogênio, em solo classificado como Latossolo vermelho distrófico argiloso. Utilizou-se o delineamento blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 4x3. As cultivares foram os híbridos CMSXS 762, BRS 610, BR 700 e a variedade BR 506, com três doses de nitrogênio: 50 kg.ha-1, 75 kg.ha-1 e 100 kg.ha-1. A produção de matéria natural, com média geral de 59,31 t.ha-1, diferiu entre as cultivares (teste Tukey a 5% de probabilidade), porém, não diferiu em função das doses de nitrogênio. A produção de massa seca, com média de 15,17 t.ha-1, não diferiu entre as cultivares, nem entre as doses de N. Já os teores de matéria seca e as porcentagens de panícula e de colmo na matéria natural diferiram tanto entre as cultivares como em função das doses. A altura das plantas, com média geral de 2,39 m, e o teor de matéria seca do colmo diferiram somente entre as cultivares. As cultivares BR 700 e CMSXS 762 apresentaram uma melhor relação entre panícula/colmo/folha e uma maior porcentagem de panícula. E, à medida que se aumentou a dose de nitrogênio, verificou-se maior participação de panícula, com redução na percentagem de colmo. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Sorgo; adubação nitrogenada; avaliação agronômica. The objective of this study was to evaluate characteristics of four forage sorghum cultivars at three levels of nitrogen fertilizer in an Oxisoil. A randomized complete block design in a 4x3 factorial scheme (CMSXS 762, BRS 610, BR 700 and BR 506 hybrid cultivars combined with 50 kg.ha-1, 75 kg.ha-1 and 100 kg.ha-1 nitrogen levels). A Tukey test was used for comparison of treatment means. The yields of natural matter, with general average 59.31 t.ha-1, were significantly different among sorghum cultivars; but there was no difference caused by nitrogen levels in this trait. The dry matter yield mean (15.17 t.ha-1) did not differ among cultivars or nitrogen levels. As opposed, dry matter and panicle and stalk contents in the natural matter were different among cultivars as well as among N levels. The plant height (with general average 2.39 m) and stalk dry matter means were different only among cultivars. BR 700 and CMSXS 762 cultivars showed the best panicle/stalk/leaf ratio and the largest panicle percentage. Increased amounts of nitrogen resulted in increased panicle and decreased stalk percentage. This experiment aimed to evaluate the efficacy of sunflower meal and sunflower seeds to control Boophilus microplus in naturally infested steers. The experiment was developed in the Dairy Cattle Facilities of the Veterinary College - UFG. Two herds of steers (Holstein x zebu) were allotted in a randomized block design in 2x10 factorial arrangement with six repetitions on Brachiaria decumbens pastures. After 14 days, weekly for two months, B. microplus females > 4 mm were counted, blood samples were collected and the animals were weighed. The B. microplus engorged females were collected to evaluate reproductive parameters. Blood samples were processed to determine: hematocrit, total protein, fibrinogen and leukocytes. The results had been submitted to the analysis of variance and the averages compared for the Scott-Knott test (5%). Tick counts, index (%), larval eclosion, hematocrit, total protein, fibrinogen and leukocytes were similar between treatments. The results do not corroborate the empirical reports concerning the effectiveness of the sunflower to control B. microplus in crossbred steers. Objetivou-se avaliar a ação do farelo ou das sementes de girassol no controle de Boophilus microplus em novilhos mestiços (holandês x zebu) infestados naturalmente. O experimento foi desenvolvido no Setor de Bovinocultura do Departamento de Produção Animal da Escola de Veterinária (EV) da UFG. Foram utilizados dois lotes de animais, distribuídos inteiramente ao acaso num fatorial 2 x 10 com seis repetições, em piquetes de Brachiaria decumbens, onde foram suplementados. Após quatorze dias de experimento e a cada sete dias, durante dois meses, num curral de manejo, efetuaram-se a contagem das fêmeas de B. microplus > 4 mm, as coletas de sangue e as pesagens dos bovinos. Colheram-se fêmeas ingurgitadas de B. microplus para avaliação de parâmetros reprodutivos. Amostras de sangue foram processadas para determinação dos parâmetros sangüíneos: hematócrito, proteína plasmática total, fibrinogênio e leucócitos. Submeteram-se os resultados à analise de variância e compararam-se as médias pelo teste de Scott-Knott a 5%. Não houve diferenças entre os tratamentos quanto às contagens de carrapatos, percentagem de índice de conversão em ovos, eclodibilidade, hematócrito, proteína total, fibrinogênio e leucócitos. Os resultados não corroboraram as observações empíricas acerca da eficácia do girassol sobre o Boophilus microplus, em bovinos leiteiros mestiços. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o potencial produtivo e a composição bromatológica de quatro híbridos de sorgo forrageiro. Objetivou-se avaliar a composição química e a degradabilidade ruminal da matéria seca (MS), da proteína bruta (PB) e de fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), de rações isoenergéticas e isoprotéicas, com diferentes níveis (0%, 10%, 20%, 30% e 40%) de substituição do farelo da algodão, por cama de frangos, tendo como substrato a casca de café. Utilizaram-se quatro vacas secas fistuladas no rúmen, nas quais foram incubadas amostras de volumoso, cama de frangos, MDPS e rações experimentais por 0, 1, 4, 8, 12, 36 e 72 h. Os dados obtidos sobre a degradabilidade foram ajustados para uma regressão não-linear pelo método de Gauss-Newton. Os resultados obtidos permitiram avaliar que, com o aumento dos níveis de cama de frangos, os valores da degradabilidade efetiva da matéria seca e da fibra em detergente neutro aumentaram em relação à ração sem resíduo, observando-se semelhança da degradabilidade efetiva da proteína bruta. Com base neste experimento, concluiu-se que a substituição do farelo de algodão pela cama de frangos, até o nível de 40%, é possível, pois não se observou efeito sobre a degradabilidade efetiva da matéria seca, da proteína bruta e a de fibra em detergente neutro. O experimento foi desenvolvido no Departamento de Produção Animal da Escola de Veterinária da Universidade Federal de Goiás, com o objetivo de estudar o comportamento do pH ruminal, da glicemia sérica e da uréia em ovinos que receberam calcário calcítico, carbonato de cálcio e óxido de magnésio na dieta. Foram utilizados dezesseis ovinos machos, da raça Santa Inês, confinados em gaiolas metabólicas individuais contendo bebedouro e cocho para o fornecimento de volumosos e concentrados. Os tratamentos constituíram-se de quatro rações concentradas isoprotéicas e isoenergéticas, contendo 16% de proteína bruta e 3.300 Kcal de energia digestível e níveis de 0% na dieta controle, 1% de calcário calcítico, 1% de carbonato de cálcio e 1% de óxido de magnésio. O delineamento empregado foi inteiramente casualizado em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com os tratamentos nas parcelas e os períodos nas subparcelas. Utilizaram-se quatro repetições paraavaliar os quatro tratamentos, sendo cada unidade experimental constituída por um animal. O período experimental foi de nove dias, sendo sete dias de pré-experimento e dois dias de coleta. As médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Scott-Knott. Os valores médios do pH do líquido ruminal obtidos para cada tratamento, zero hora após a ingestão de alimento, foram 7,65; 7,88, 7,32 e 7,66 (P>0,05), e para quatro horas após o consumo 6,42; 6,65; 7,56 e 6,56 (P

O trabalho foi realizado objetivando avaliar os efeitos energético e protéico em uplementos múltiplos sobre o ensaio de produção, concentração do N uréico no plasma e parâmetros econômicos de bovinos em fase de recria, manejados em pastagens, durante a época da seca. Foram utilizados 32 novilhos de corte divididos em 4 grupos de 8 animais e analisados por um delineamento de blocos ao acaso a 5% de significância. Cada grupo recebeu um tratamento com pastagem e acrescido de sal mineralizado + uréia + milho; sal mineralizado + uréia + farelo de soja; sal mineralizado + uréia + milho + farelo de soja. Não observou diferença (P>0,05) das suplementações no ganho de peso e o peso médio metabólico, o que pode ser justificado pela qualidade da pastagem aliada à disponibilidade de MS/ha e para a variável N-uréico no sangue indicou o maior teor protéico, oriundo dos 50,0% de participação do farelo de soja na composição do tratamento. A suplementação para animais em pastejo com misturas de natureza múltipla e de baixo consumo proporcionou ganhos de pesoapreciáveis, e sua aplicação depende do preço dos insumos e o da arroba de carne.The research was carried out to evaluate the protein-energy effect of multiple supplements on animal production, N urea in plasmatic quantities and economic parameter of growing beef cattle in pasture during dry season. Thirty-two castrated beef cattle steers were divided into four groups of eight animals. They were analyzedaccording to a randomized block design at 5% of significance. Each group received one treatment to pasture with addition of mineral salt + urea + corn; mineral salt + urea + soybean meal; mineral salt + urea + corn + soybean meal. There was no difference (P>0.05) betweensupplements for daily LWG and for average metabolic weight. This can be justified by forage quality combined with availability of DM/ha. As for the variable N-urea in the blood, results indicated higher protein value as an effect of the 50 % addition of soybean meal in thetreatment composition. The supplementation of animals in pasture with multiple supplements and low consumption allowed LWG benefits. Its use depends on the cost of the supplement and the price of the meat.

Com o objetivo de avaliar a cinética da digestão ruminal pela técnica da degradabilidade in situ, da matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta (PB) e fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) de rações isoenergéticas e isoprotéicas, com 16% de PB e diferentes níveis (0, 10, 20, 30 e 40%) de substituição do milho desintegrado com palha e sabugo (MDPS) por casca de café, conduziu-se um experimento no Departamento de Zootecnia da Universidade Federal de Lavras - UFLA, Lavras - Minas Gerais, Brasil, com 3 vacas da raça holandesa, com cânulas ruminais, nas quais foram incubadas amostras de volumoso, casca de café, MDPS e rações experimentais por 0, 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 e 96 horas. Os dados de degradabilidade foram ajustados para uma regressão não-linear pelo método de Gauss-Newton. Pelos resultados obtidos, pôde-se avaliar que, com o aumento dos níveis de casca de café, a degradabilidade efetiva da MS das rações apresentou-se semelhante à da ração sem esse resíduo, observando-se também uma tendência de aumento da degradabilidade efetiva da PB. Porém, com a FDN, o efeito foi de redução da degradabilidade efetiva. Conclui-se que a substituição do MDPS pela casca de café, até o nível de 40%, não afetou a degradabilidade efetiva da MS e PB dos concentrados. Entretanto, reduziu a degradabilidade efetiva da FDN.In order to evaluate the kinetics of ruminal digestion by means of the in situ incubation tectonics of the dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and neuter detergent fiber (NDF) of isoenergetic and isoprotein rations with 16% of crude protein with different levels (0, 10, 20, 30 and 40%) of replacement of ground corn with straw and cob (GCSC) for coffee hull, an experiment was conducted at the Department of Animal Science of the Universidade Federal de Lavras - UFLA - Lavras - MG, Brazil, with three non-lactating cows of the holstein breed, fitted with ruminal cannulas into which samples of forage, coffee hull, CGSC and experimental rations for 0, 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours were incubated. The data obtained about the degradability were fit for a non-linear regression by Gauss-Newton's method. The data obtained allowed to evaluate that with increasing levels of coffee hull, the effective degradability of the dry matter of the rations proved similar to that of the ration without that residue, a trend of increased effectively degraded protein being also observed. But with neuter detergent fiber the effect was the reduction of effective degradability. Based upon this experiment, it follows that the replacement of GCSC for coffee hull up to the level of 40% did not affect the effective degradability of both the dry matter and crude protein of concentrates. Nevertheless, it reduced the effective degradability of neuter detergent fiber.

Este experimento foi conduzido com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito de diferentes suplementos minerais sobre a degradabilidade da MS, PB e FDN em bovinos a pasto, nas dependências da Escola Agrotécnica Federal de Cuiabá, MT, entre julho e novembro de 2001 e dividido em três períodos, com intervalos de 28 dias. Foram utilizados doze novilhos de corte, castrados, com idade e peso médio de 18 meses e 240 kg, respectivamente, com raças e graus de sangue diversos, fistulados no rúmen. Pelo manejo diferido da pastagem, dividiu-se a área em seis piquetes, providos de comedouro coberto e bebedouro. Utilizou-se o pastejo rotacionado com quatorze dias de ocupação, e a taxa de lotação de 1 animal/ha. Os tratamentos foram: T0 - pastagem sem minerais (Testemunha); T1 - pastagem com sal mineralizado; T2 - pastagem com sal mineralizado + uréia; T3 - pastagem com sal mineralizado + uréia + milho; T4 - pastagem com sal mineralizado + uréia + farelo de soja e T5 - pastagem com sal mineralizado + uréia + milho + farelo de soja. A forragem foi obtida pela técnica de simulação de pastejo, homogeneizada, sendo retirada uma amostra composta seca em estufa para moagem. A forragem utilizada no ensaio de degradabilidade apresentou média de 8,4% PB e 77,2% FDN, em base de MS e foi incubada in natura com 37,2% MS. Para a degradabilidade ruminal, foi utilizada a técnica do saco de náilon. As amostras de forragem foram colocadas nos sacos, obedecendo-se à relação de 20 mgMS/cm2 de superfície, incubados no rúmen durante 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72 e 96 horas. A degradabilidade potencial e efetiva e a fração não degradável da MS, PB e FDN foram analisadas utilizando-se o delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com seis tratamentos e seis repetições pelo teste de Scott Knott. Os blocos foram organizados considerando cada animal fistulado. Pelos resultados obtidos, verificou-se que, para a degradabilidade efetiva da MS, houve diferen��a (P< 0,07) entre os tratamentos e as taxas de degradação da PB e FDN da forragem não houve influências (P>0,05) dos tratamentos. O fornecimento de fonte nitrogenada e/ou energética mostrou ser eficiente na degradabilidade efetiva da MS, em média, 6,8% maior do que os outros sem essas fontes.The experiment was conducted with the purpose of evaluating the effect of different mineral supplements on the degradability of dry matter, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber in cattle on pasture, at Escola Agrotecnica Federal de Cuiabá - MT, from July to November, 2001. It was utilized 12 steers. Twelve steers aged 18 months and average weight of 240 kilograms, from several breedings and rumen fistulated, were utilized. From the differing management of the pasture, the area was divided into six padlocks, provided with covered drinker and feeder. The rotated grazing with 14 days occupation and the stocking rate of 1 animal/ha was utilized. The treatments were: T0 - pasture without minerals (control); T1 - pasture with mineralized salt; T2 - Pasture with mineralized salt plus urea; T3 - Pasture with mineralized salt plus urea plus corn; T4 - pasture with mineralized salt plus urea plus soybean meal; T5 - pasture with mineralized salt plus urea plus soybean meal plus corn. The sample of forage was obtained by the technique of simulated grazing and homogenized. The forage used in the degradability trial showed a mean of 8.4% of CP and 77.2% of NDF on the DM basis and was incubated in natura with 37.2% DM. The in situ ruminal degradability was obteined with the nylon bag technique. Each nylon bag contained 20 mg DM/cm² of surface and incubated in rumen for 0, 3, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 72 and 96 hours. The potential and effective degradability and the undegradable fraction of DM, CP and NDF were analyzed utilizing the Randomized Block Design with six treatments and six replicates and means compared by the Scott Knott test. The blocks were arranged by considering each fistulated animal. The results obtained showed that, for the effective degradability of DM, there was difference (P0.05) by the treatments. Feeding nitrogen and/or energy source in supplement provided efficient and effective degradability of DM, on average, 6.8% bigger than the others without these sources.

Objetivou-se por meio deste trabalho comparar o processo de secagem, em forno de microondas e em estufa de ventilação de ar forçada, bem como seus efeitos sobre a composição química de diferentes genótipos pertencente ao gênero Cynodon (Tifton 85, Jiggs, Russel, Tifton 68 e Vaquero) colhidos em diferentes idades de corte (28, 48, 63 e 79 dias). O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com 4 repetições. Four steers in individual paddocks with Marandu grass (B. Brizantha) in 4x4 square design were used to evaluate sunflower crushed supplementation in pasture-grazing animals on nitrogen balance and microbial protein synthesis. Supplements at 6 g kg-1 body weight comprised corn, soybean meal, and mineral and soybean meal substituted at proportions 0, 20, 40 and 60%. Diet contained averages 6.79, 6.96, 7.10 and 6.87% nitrogen respectively for substitution levels 0, 20, 40 and 60%. The inclusion of sunflower crushed (SC) increased nitrogen intake and fecal excretion of nitrogen while providing a positive balance. Animals’ plasma urea concentration supplemented with SC was 28.13% lower than that of supplemented animals without SC. SC inclusion did not change allantoin concentration, purine derivatives, microbial nitrogen, crude microbial protein and microbial efficiency microbial, with mean rates totaling 150.98 mmol day-1; 158.06 mmol day-1, 112.35 g day-1, 702.18 g day-1; 146.41 crude protein (CP) microbial kg-1 of TDN. Partial replacement of soybean meal by sunflower crushed improves nitrogen balance without altering microbial protein synthesis and excretion of urea and creatinine.

Este texto tem como objetivo principal demonstrar ações de extensão desenvolvidas na Comunidade Quilombola Dezidério Felipe de Oliveira, localizada na Picadinha (Rodovia Itahum-Dourados/MS). Tais ações estão voltadas ao fortalecimento da produção animal e vegetal, alicerçadas em princípios de sustentabilidade para a melhoria da qualidade alimentar e para o aumento da renda familiar. Outra preocupação constante é valorizar o trabalho de tal comunidade, envolvido por seu modo de vida e hábitos tradicionais. As atividades foram desenvolvidas no período de dezembro de 2009 a março de 2011, seguindo um cronograma proposto que envolveu a horticultura orgânica e a criação de aves caipiras, utilizando-se de recursos materiais como quadro branco, data show e folders para sua execução. Houve participação de 70% dos quilombolas envolvidos. Com o desenvolvimento das ações na comunidade, constatou-se o aumento significativo na qualidade alimentar dos produtores e a ampliação da comercialização do excedente de produção nas feiras da Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados (UFGD) e de Dourados. Detectou-se a importância dos trabalhos por meio da melhoria da produção agrícola e/ou animal local, do aprimoramento dos conhecimentos de produção pelos próprios produtores e do aumento da renda das famílias.

Thirty-six experimental silos arranged in a completely randomized 4 x 3 factorial design were provided to evaluate the chemical changes of sunflower silage treated with soybean hulls, sunflower crushed and urea at 14, 21 and 28 days of ensilage. The additives were based on 5% natural matter, whereas control consisted of silage with 100% sunflower plant. OM, NDIP, and MM had average rates 911.2; 86.6 and 92.9 g kg-1 of dry matter respectively. The addition of soybean hulls and sunflower crushed increased DM rates after 28 and 21 days. Urea increased nitrogen fractions and the addition of soybean hulls increased total carbohydrate content of silage by 5.1%, whereas the addition of sunflower crushed decreased the same by 2.18%. NDF, ADF and hemicellulose average rates were 625.4, 460.3 and 165.2 g kg-1 of DM. The addition of soybean hulls and sunflower crushed reduced the in vitro dry matter digestibility by 8.3 and 5.97%. The addition of 5% sunflower crushed and soybean hulls improved the nutritional value of sunflower silage and the addition of urea improved the protein rates.

To evaluate the grass B. brizantha cv. Marandu, under grazing, we use three sampling methods: total availability (TA), hand plucked (HP) and extrusa (EXT) in a completely randomized design with four replications. The hand plucked method was collected manually after observing the behavior of grazing animals. TA was determined by cutting at ground level, using a metallic square (0.25 m²) and EXT was collected by rumen evacuation. The values for dry matter (DM), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF), were 27.20, 88.52 and 43.70% in the treatment and HP, and 25.53, 87.70 and 45.50% in TA. The extrusa had the lowest DM content (15.88%) and higher crude protein (CP) (15.22%), possibly due to the presence of saliva. The levels checked for extrusa NDF, ADF and in vitro digestibility of dry matter were 81.98, 36.90 and 79.10%, demonstrating the selectivity of the animals. The high levels of FDA for TA reflect the composition of the forage with the high proportion of senescent material. The samples obtained by the total availability were not representative of the diet consumed by cattle. The different sampling methods influence the chemical composition of B. Brizantha cv. Marandu.

Avaliou-se a degradabilidade in situ, dos grãos de linhaça, canola, colza e milho, caroço de algodão, e dos concentrados casca e farelo de soja, em ovinos. Foram utilizados três animais da raça Santa Inês, fistulados e providos de cânulas ruminais, mantidos em baias individuais, recebendo diariamente capim picado e ração concentrada. Os alimentos foram incubados em ordem decrescente de 72, 48, 24, 18, 6, 3 e 0h. O teor de proteína dos alimentos avaliados foram 34,77; 30,07; 23,70; 10,64; 26,12; 14,65 e 56,90% para canola, colza, linhaça, milho, caroço de algodão, casca de soja e farelo de soja, respectivamente. A canola e a colza apresentaram baixa degradabilidade efetiva para a MS, com valor médio de 33,68%. O grão de linhaça apresentou degradabilidade efetiva para a MS de 64,24%, com fração potencialmente degradável de 87,89%. O milho apresentou fração solúvel de 12,33% e uma degradação de 39,67% para a MS. O farelo de soja apresentou-se dentro dos parâmetros normais de degradação com 52,61% para a MS e 52,83% para PB. Para a linhaça, canola e colza a degradabilidade da proteína apresentou valor médio de 18,34%. Os grãos de avaliados apresentaram baixa degradabilidade efetiva para a matéria seca e proteína bruta.

Avaliou-se a degradabilidade ruminal in situ, em ovinos dos grãos e coprodutos de girassol, soja e crambe, em três ovinos da raça Santa Inês com peso de 40 kg, fistulados e providos de cânulas ruminais, mantidos em baias individuais. Os alimentos foram incubados em ordem decrescente de 72, 48, 24, 18, 6, 3 e 0h. A fração potencialmente degradável da MS para a torta de girassol foi 73,7% e da PB 34,6%, o que proporcionou média degradação ruminal para PB. O grão de girassol apresentou baixa degradabilidade ruminal para a MS e PB (33,55 e 25,98%). A torta de soja apresentou fração solúvel de 23,15 e 7,79%, para a MS e PB, com uma degradabilidade efetiva de 75,6 e 70,89%, enquanto que o grão de soja apresentou baixa fração solúvel para MS e PB (4,79 e 8,73%), acarretando baixa degradabilidade ruminal. O grão de crambe e a torta de crambe apresentaram os maiores teores de FDA, e baixa degradabilidade ruminal, tanto para a MS como para a PB. Os valores para a fração potencialmente degradável e fração solúvel foram semelhantes. Os alimentos avaliados apresentaram média degradabilidade ruminal, exceto a torta de soja que apresentou maior valor de degradabilidade ruminal.

Avaliou-se a composição bromatológica de quatro híbridos de sorgo forrageiro sob doses de nitrogênio (N). Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 4 x 3, com quatro repetições. Foram determinados os teores de matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta (PB), carboidratos solúveis (CHOs), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN), fibra em detergente ácido (FDA), hemicelulose (Hem) e lignina (Lig), de acordo com a técnica da espectrofotometria de refletância no infravermelho proximal. Analisaram-se os dados pelo programa SISVAR 4.6, testando-se os fatores pelo teste Tukey a 5% de probabilidade. Os valores de MS diferiram (P0,05) entre os híbridos e doses de N, em ambos os cortes. Os CHOs apresentaram variação entre as doses no primeiro corte e entre os híbridos no segundo corte (13,7%). Os teores de FDN e FDA não diferiram (P>0,05) em função das doses de N em ambos os cortes, entretanto houve diferença entre os híbridos. A Hem diferiu entre os híbridos e as doses de N. Os híbridos avaliados apresentaram boas composições bromatológicas, para o processo de ensilagem. The ruminal degradability of different byproducts was evaluated by the in situ technique. The feeds were incubated in the rumen of three crossbred E x Z steers averaging 300 kg for 72, 48, 24, 18, 12, 6, 3 e 0 hours. The potentially degradable fraction and effective degradability of DM and CP for the sunflower crushed were, respectively, 40.2 and 26.2% and 50.97 and 38.65%. The crushed soybean presented soluble fraction of 36.6 and 20.7%, for DM and CP, with an effective degradability of 72.5 and 69.9%, and the crushed grape, of 21.61 and 19.84% for DM and CP, with degradation rate of 4.2 and 7.67%/h, that resulted in effective degradabilities of 54.36 and 50.03 for DM and CP, respectively. For the protein, the cookie residue showed high soluble fraction (53.87%), the soybean hulls, high potentially degradable fraction (77.55%), and the wheat hulls, soluble fraction (63.23%).Avaliou-se a degradabilidade ruminal de diferentes alimentos alternativos, utilizando-se a técnica in situ, em três novilhos mestiços ExZ, com peso médio de 300 kg. Os alimentos foram incubados por 72, 48, 24, 18, 12, 6, 3 e 0 horas. A fração potencialmente degradável e a degradabilidade efetiva da MS e PB para a torta de girassol foram, respectivamente, de 40,2 e 26,2% e 50,97 e 38,65%. A torta de soja apresentou fração solúvel de 36,6 e 20,7%, para MS e PB, com degradabilidade de 72,5 e 69,9%, e o bagaço de uva, de 21,61 e 19,84% para MS e PB, com taxa de degradação de 4,2 e 7,67%/h, o que acarretou degradabilidades de 54,36 e 50,03 para MS e PB, respectivamente. Para a proteína, o resíduo de bolacharia apresentou alta fração solúvel (53,87%); a casca de soja, alta fração potencialmente degradável (77,55) e a casca de trigo, fração solúvel (63,23%).

Avaliou-se a composição químico-bromatológica e a digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca do capim-tanzânia submetido a doses crescentes de nitrogênio em diferentes idades de corte, sob irrigação. Os tratamentos foram constituídos por três doses de N (sulfato de amônio): 200, 400 e 600 Kg/ha/ano, e quatro idades de cortes: 28; 56; 84 e 112 dias. Utilizou-se o delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso em esquema fatorial 3x4 (três doses de nitrogênio x quatro idades de cortes) com três repetições. Realizaram-se as análises mediante a utilização do programa estatístico Sistema de Análise de Variância de Dados Balanceado (SISVAR). Os teores de MS não diferiram (P0,05) entre as idades de corte, porém, diferiram (P0,05) entre as idades de corte, exceto aos 112 dias. Entretanto, diferiram entre as doses de N aplicadas. Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar os parâme-tros nutricionais da silagem de quatro cultivares de sorgo forrageiro, submetidos a três doses de nitrogênio. Foi utili-zado o delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 4x3 (quatro cultivares x três doses de nitrogênio), com quatro repetições. Cultivares utilizadas: 1F 305, 0369 267, 0369 255 e BR 700 e três doses de N: 0, 60 e 120 Kg N.ha-1 (na forma de sulfato de amô-nio). Utilizou-se o teste Tukey (5%) para a comparação das médias. Os teores de MS diferiram (P0,05) entre cultiva-res e as doses de N, com médias de: 46,54% (controle), 49,60% e 50,07%, com a aplicação de 60 e 120 kg.ha-1 de N, respectivamente. As cultivares avaliadas demonstra-ram boa composição bromatológica, proporcionando boa DIVMS das silagens produzidas. PALAVRAS-CHAVES: Adubação nitrogenada, composição bromatológica, valor nutritivo.
