Control system level agent technology is a powerful environment that fosters cooperation of control level applications (agents) to solve a set of complex problems not easily solved with a standard control system programming such as ladder code, function blocks, etc. alone. The next logical step in the agent technology evolution is to extend the agent technology capability to the enterprise level. There are many benefits in spanning the agent capability beyond the control system level. The control system environment is not a resource rich environment and some complex large scale applications that require a great deal of computing power may not fit in it. The enterprise level agents can take advantage of the virtually unlimited resources at the enterprise level. This paper discusses the characteristic of intelligent technology and how the agents communicate and cooperate in the different levels of the automation systems.

Enterprise design decisions include choosing among operational strategies, allocating scarce resources, and coordinating actions toward common goals, among others. In this paper, we explore how the concepts and applications of the efficiency performance measurement paradigm can be used to inform enterprise design. Up to date, efficiency performance measurement has been mainly used to describe how well an enterprise has performed, i.e., answering “what happened” via an ex post evaluation. However, informing enterprises on “what might happen” when making changes, i.e., an ex ante evaluation, has received less attention. To address this gap, we synthetize findings pertaining to enterprise design from the organizational design, enterprise systems engineering, and efficiency performance measurement literatures. The synthesis allows us to identify the integrative role that the efficiency performance measurement paradigm plays in informing enterprise transformation decisions. We illustrate this role by providing a case study of an enterprise dealing with design decisions. Our research provides exploratory evidence, for managerial stakeholders, about the ability of the efficiency performance measurement paradigm to answer how well an enterprise could perform if certain design decisions are made.

Many of the challenges that the society faces today are enterprise problems. Enterprise systems consist of technological, organizational, and social elements where there is no locus of control. Due to the complex nature of enterprise systems, they are particularly difficult to model and analyze in support of policy analysis. There is a need for accessible methods and approaches to aid those tasked with modeling enterprise problems. To that end, we considered an enterprise modeling methodology that emphasizes a layered view of an enterprise system and evaluated it by applying it to a case study on the intrusion of counterfeit parts in a supply chain. We conclude that the utility of the methodology does not lie in making specific predictions as there are many ways to accomplish that. Rather, the methodology shows promise for two applications: First, integrating diverse expert knowledge and data and communicating that to stakeholders and, second, searching for counter-intuitive results or unintended consequences of a policy option.

The development of strategies, actions and programs on sustainability through innovation has been taking into account within the current essential and disorderly train of events. The issue of designing mechanisms was considered by institutions and organizations, which innovate on sustainability, the way of speeding the progress, as well as the process of learning on sustainability. There has been always a concern over forwarding the incremental innovations, which actually improve or renew the already existing ideas and practices at the level of system, or even the SoS systems' level, together with a new focus over the technical, social-human and environment or markets interspaces. The main issue regards the type of changes necessary on transforming the sustainability (new institutions, public politics, strategies of settlements, new ways of thinking and business practices). The analysis of innovative part within the process of economic and social change should gather interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research. Although there is an obvious agenda of integrating the sustainability within the process of innovation, the long-term approach has not been provided with a phasing and the process has been quite complex. The current global process has been characterized by a socio-technological dynamism of an accurate changing management, more exactly by the oscillation between intervals of normality and steadiness and disorderly and volatile intervals that influence the design way of strategies, since these should understand and integrate the new dynamics of change, of markets and of the external environment. The traditional approach cannot show such mixtures of dynamics and cut-off over the markets and stakeholders. This paper emphasizes the synergic assortment between the systematic control of innovation for sustainable development focused on the internal environment and that based on a mix between the concept of innovation enterprise in context of enterprise systems engineering, the dynamic capabilities for spectral selection in a multiple dynamics and option thinking as a paradigm well adapted in innovation. The dynamic capabilities, seen as “strategy of creating the strategies” have offered a quick qualitative image, so that this approach has been combined with the paradigm of real options, within a frame that proposes the active control over the extended performance of innovation enterprise. The novelty has been offered by the possibility of emphasizing some mechanism of inter-correlations between innovation enterprise, the dynamic capabilities, as strategic tool of high level and the real options, as tool of option thinking on one hand, and the capabilities for innovation on extended way, on the other hand. Adapting the paradigm of dynamic capabilities to the oscillation between the normality or steadiness times and those full of disorder and volatility, by means of real composed options, has offered a dynamic image of relative performance, during a complex process. Viewing the performances progress in two steps and two volatilities has been quite significant, since it offered the possibility of some immediate actions of reconfigurations and conformation to.

It is proved that the modern level of economy competitiveness has been achieved due to the scientific and technical innovations in the industrial sphere. Given the global trends, Ukraine is working out its own direction of the innovative development. To achieve the final result of innovation at the industrial enterprises, it is necessary to ensure a transfer of innovative technologies to the commercial production. Shift of the technological developments from the research units to the potential customers is usually brought about with the help of market mechanisms, i.e., launching the technologies into the market and its promotion. The article offers a matrix approach to determine the overall development of intra-firm technology transfer system considering both the internal innovation capacity and favorable external conditions. The general scheme for determining the capacity of intra-firm technology transfer system development at machine-building enterprise on the basis of correlation and regression modeling has been developed. Four main program of developing the intra-firm technology transfer system are offered. They include active development which stipulates the extensive use of endogenous factors in terms of favorable environment; moderate growth which is appropriate given certain internal and external problems of enterprises innovative development in general and technology transfer systems in particular; anti-crisis development which is appropriate either in terms of favorable environment given low internal capacity of technology development and transfer or in a difficult situation at macro-level given high transfer potential; “cryogenic” period when the entity is suffering a crisis and there are a lot of external risks, it is reasonable to resort to the “deliberate damping”, being forced to suspend the innovative activity, creation and development of technology transfer system. Scientific and practical recommendations are provided to develop the intra-firm technology transfer system of the leading machine-building enterprises in Poltava region, such as PJSC “Kremenchug Plant of Road Machines”, PJSC “Kryukov Railway Car Building Works”, PJSC “Kremenchug Wheel Plant”, PJSC “AutoKrAZ”.

Many existing studies have shown that the causes of most of system attacks are not related to coding vulnerabilities that apply to individual systems, issues related to the run-time environment, or the technology in place. In fact, they are caused by issues associated with how systems within organizations are structured. Therefore, it is necessary to examine security with regard to all components that influence the organization’s systems, including data, processes and even employees. The most promising approach to achieving this goal is Enterprise Architecture (EA). The main goal of this project is to develop a framework based on the concepts of well-established EA frameworks such as TOGAF and Zachman and their compositional layers (e.g., application, information and process). This framework will be combined with a data flow analysis of the principles that trace the potential information flow between high- and low-security enterprise components. Therefore, this paper studies various enterprise architecture frameworks and shows how to develop an enterprise architecture framework that considers the organization’s information security from the perspective of information flow. This framework will have various layers, each with a set of security metrics that quantify the organization’s relative security based on the specifications of that layer. The defined framework will be capable of defining Enterprise Architecture security-related principles and metrics. These principles and metrics will eventually be used to define how to develop secure enterprise systems based on the enterprise architecture with regard to security-critical information flow within any given organization. The defined framework will also be capable of providing guidance for information security architects by recognizing certain parts of the organization that are less secure than others.

Метою статті є визначення місця, ролі і особливостей кібернетичної безпеки та удосконалення схеми бізнес-розвідки в системі діагностики економічної безпеки підприємства. З’ясовано, що: 1) під кібернетичною безпекою підприємства слід розуміти стан захищеності кібернетичного простору підприємства в цілому або окремих об’єктів його інформаційної інфраструктури (комп’ютерну систему, комп’ютерні дані тощо) від ризику стороннього (зовнішнього) кібернетичного впливу, за якого забезпечується їх сталий розвиток і формування перспективи, а також своєчасне виявлення, запобігання й нейтралізація реальних і потенційних викликів, кібернетичних втручань і загроз інтересам підприємства; 2) основними складовими кібернетичної безпеки в системі діагностики економічної безпеки підприємства є: розвідка інформаційно-телекомунікаційних систем та криптосистем протиборчих сторін; кібернетичні впливи; захист власної інформаційної сфери. Встановлено, що головним завданням бізнес-розвідки в системі діагностики економічної безпеки підприємства є перевірка достовірності бізнес-інформації, забезпечення кібернетичного захисту інформаційного ресурсу, інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій та систем і виключення можливості дезінформації вищого керівництва підприємства з боку менеджерів (керівників) середньої ланки, постачальників, маркетингових посередників, клієнтури, конкурентів або контактних аудиторій підприємства. Перспективою подальших досліджень у даному напрямі є розроблення системи цілей полікритеріальної діагностики діяльності (економічної діагностики) підприємства (на засадах виокремлення та систематизації його діагностичних цілей) з урахуванням поданих результатів дослідження., The purpose of the article is to determine the place, the role and features of cybernetic security and improve the business intelligence scheme in the system of diagnosing economic security of the enterprise. It had been found out that: 1) the term “cybernetic security of an enterprise” should be understood as the state of the protection of the cybernetic space of the whole enterprise or individual objects of its information infrastructure (computer system, computer data, etc.) from the risk of external cybernetic influence, which ensures their sustainable development and the formation of prospects, as well as timely detection, prevention and neutralization of real and potential cybernetic interruptions and threats to the interests of the enterprise; 2) the main components of cybernetic security in the system of diagnostics of economic security of the enterprise are: investigation of information and telecommunication systems and cryptosystems of the opposing sides; cybernetic effects; protection of information sphere. It was established that the main task of business intelligence in the system of diagnosing economic security of the enterprise is the verification of the reliability of business information, the provision of cybernetic protection of information resources, information and communication technologies and systems and the elimination of the possibility of misinformation of senior management by the managers of the middle level, suppliers, marketing intermediaries, clientele, competitors or contact audiences of the enterprise. The prospect of further research in this direction is the development of a system of goals of the polycriterial diagnostics of the activity (economic diagnostics) of the enterprise (on the basis of the isolation and systematization of its diagnostic purposes), taking into account the presented results of the study.

Purpose- In this paper, the methodology of definition a tailored Technology Management (TM) Framework for a large scale enterprise defense company (HAVELSAN) will be explained briefly, and selected subset of TMF components in the company will be further discussed. The method of managing technologies in enterprises depends primarily on the size of the company and its organizational structure. Methodology- The main purpose of this paper is the identification and analysis of the factors influencing the manner in which technologies are managed in big enterprise companies especially focused on defense industry. Findings- The concepts that are investigated and the methodologies that are developed in this study are primarily based on the case of technology management framework within a defence technology enterprise. Conclusion- The methods of defining a newly introduced Technology Management Framework (TMF) will help to enhance knowledge related to the development of methods used for technology management and the technology management tools in relation with each other.

The object of research is the processes associated with the organization of the production of consumer goods (CG) at the multi-nomenclature machine-building enterprise (MME). These processes are considered in the aspect of automating the production of consumer goods by creating a special model of knowledge about the current state of production processes. One of the most problematic issues is the complex automation of combined processes for the production of basic products and CGs at MMEs. The solution of this question required the improvement of the formal apparatus for modeling time dependencies. In the course of the research, discrete mathematics methods, in particular set theory and mathematical logic, are used, as well as tools that are known in knowledge engineering, in particular production systems.A temporal model of knowledge and technology is combined with the knowledge base of the decision support system. The peculiarity of this model is the possibility of adequate reflection of asynchrony and parallelism, which is inherent in the processes of CGs production at MMEs. The overall effect of the implementation of the developed model of knowledge will be achieved by reducing the incidence of disruptions in the production program, preserving the professional knowledge of experienced MME specialists in the production of consumer goods. In addition, the use of the temporal knowledge model as part of the intellectual core of the decision support system will ensure the reduction of the MME costs in the organization of production of consumer goods.

Purpose Organisations spend a lot of money, time and resources on enterprise system (ES) implementation and often they do not realise the expected benefits from these complex systems. There is a gap in the literature in providing sufficient insight into the implementation process or how an ES might influence or contribute to a culture change. The purpose of this paper is to address the gap in the ES literature around culture by exploring the implementation that was undertaken within a large UK university. Design/methodology/approach This paper contributes to the higher education (HE) and ES literature through an in-depth study of an ES, Strategic Information Technology Services (SITS) implementation within a university in the UK. The study was undertaken over a three-year period where one of the authors was embedded within the organisation. Findings Using a cultural analysis framework, the extensive rich data were analysed and the outcomes indicate that SITS has had a huge influence on the culture of the university; the technology’s rigid structure has imposed many changes that had not been anticipated. Originality/value ES have recently emerged in the HE sector where they are intended to support the management of student data and provide strategic management information. Although there are many studies which have explored important aspects of the implementation of ES, one area that appears to have been under-researched is how these systems are implicated in culture change within organisations. The results of this study will enable managers as well as IT specialists to gain rich insights into an ES implementation in the HE sector and to use this knowledge for future implementations.

Enterprise modernization refers to enhancing the capability of the existing application to meet the business demands. This modernization can lead to vast quantities of data generated from infrastructure, channels, database and other roots of computing involved which leads to the quantity of information generated. The data getting generated impact the resources called for these sorts of computing as it is directly proportional to recurring computing cost model and incurs a huge cost for enterprise opting for enterprise modernization. In this paper, we suggest a method to place the relevant transaction filtering of information in the context of enterprise modernization. This is answered by presenting the non-intrusive transaction aware filtering framework to get just the relevant information needed to further optimize the computing resources. Simulation and experimental results show an improvement in network, memory, throughput, CPU utilization compared against the non-transaction aware filtering during various load conditions.

This work provides a systematized process for the Sensing, Smart and Sustainable Product Development (S 3 -Product) applied to develop Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPSs). This reference framework is based on the Integrated Product, Process, and Manufacturing System Development Reference Model (IPPMD). The IPPMD will permit the integration between the different engineering domains that comprise the S 3 -Product (mechanical, electrical/electronic and software engineering). Therefore, the framework proposed provides a set of stages, activities, and tools in order to guide designers in the S 3 -Product realization process. The main objective of this work is to fill the lack of the design roadmaps that permit the realization of this new generation of products. A development of a S 3 -Microfactory as CPPS is presented as case study.

To maintain adaptive enterprise systems a tight integration of sub-systems is not an option because this implies a rigid structure. Loose interoperability of sub-systems is required to (a) maintain independence and adaptability while (b) being able to effectively and efficiently work jointly to achieve a common goal. Some recent developments in Enterprise Interoperability are not only building on a System Theory approach but rather on a Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) approach. By doing so, learning and continuous improvement are assumed to be important change processes. Project-based learning is addressing organisational systems as well as technical systems, and meets the requirements of CASs. We use this general approach to address issues with respect to interoperability in and between IT development and research projects. The introduced project-based learning framework allows supporting adaptation of systems in an enterprise system while maintaining interoperability.

To be competitive in the digital era, enterprises need to become sensing to be aware of their context, smart in taking decisions, and sustainable regarding social, environmental, and economic issues. Reference models can guide the enterprise engineering process in such direction. However, the implementation of the enterprise models, generated with reference models, depends on the integration of enterprise resources, which is not always possible due to the diversity of tools and applications needed within each business process. This paper proposes an Enterprise Operating System (EOS) to effectively handle the execution of enterprise models by integrating a diversity of functionalities. The goal of an EOS is to manage the resources (i.e. humans, applications, and machines) of an enterprise to fulfil its operations. The Sensing, Smart, and Sustainable Enterprise Reference Model (S3E-RM) is proposed to guide the implementation of the EOS. This reference model uses the viewpoints defined in the Reference Model of Open Distributed Processing (RM-ODP), i.e. enterprise, information, computation, engineering, and technology viewpoints. The EOS presented has been successfully applied in more than 27 industry sectors, including government.

Looking at evolution of industrial enterprises, one can observe a tendency of displacement of production processes culture by consumption processes culture. A combination of both is able to ensure optimal planning and utilization of enterprise’s resources. Unfortunately, this subject is not adequately covered by modern literature, but today challenges of resource management are rising. The foundations of scientific industrial management, introduced by F.Taylor and others in the beginning of previous century, do not find practical implementation in modern industry. Authors of the article propose to use resource approach to management of innovations development of enterprise to bring together modern business culture and traditional production culture, and give an example of a specific industrial enterprise. The work makes an effort to contest idea, that resource approach is not capable of considering such factors as speed of technological changes and quality standards, which are important for innovations development of an industrial enterprise.

The enterprise architecture is a tool for the systemic description of functioning and principles of the organization development. Initially, this tool was used in complex IT-projects to clarify business requirements and design information systems and technical infrastructure. However, since the beginning of the 2000s the enterprise’s architecture is increasingly used to support organizational transformations and allows managers to integrate various development initiatives among themselves, to translate the strategy into actions and to ensure the coherence of the various elements of the enterprise. The article reviews the evolution of the concept “enterprise architecture”, provides an overview of methods and tools for enterprise architecture management, as well as describes the application of the enterprise architecture in managerial practices.

Traditional computational models for enterprise software are still to a great extent centralized. However, rapid growing of modern computation techniques and frameworks causes that contemporary software becomes more and more distributed. Towards development of new complete and coherent solution for distributed enterprise software construction, synthesis of three well-grounded concepts is proposed: Domain-Driven Design technique of software engineering, REST architectural style and actor model of computation. As a result new resources-based framework arises, which after first cases of use seems to be useful and worthy of further research.

This article discusses the initial stage of formation of an enterprise activity management aimed at the innovative development. The structure of the sources of financing innovative activity of an enterprise is considered. Philosophy of management of the innovative activity of an industrial enterprise is given; factors affecting the level of the innovative activity of an enterprise are outlined. Management algorithm of the innovative activity of an enterprise is worked out.

Theoretical and methodological approaches to the definition of content of the category “enterprise’s potential” are considered in the paper. The notions “economic”, “production” and “market” potential are distinguished and the major indicators of their evaluation are determined. Features of evaluation of enterprise’s innovative potential are marked out.

The content of the state industrial policy is considered, the basic objectives and principles of perfection of the mechanism of its implementation are formulated. The attention is paid to the need of developing high-tech industries.

Business process is a series of steps or actions to achieve a certain goal. It can be completed not only in parallel but also separately, by a person or a system. both inside and outside the organization. An enterprise needs an accurate, relevant, and just-in-time information to be operated well. That’s why information engineering is needed. Information engineering is an application of a set of related formal techniques for planning, analysis, design, and information system construction in the whole enterprise. This paper aims to summarize this idea comprehensively according to literature review. Index Terms - information engineering, business process, enterprise information system.

This article is an extended version of the study presented at the IEEE Ecuador Technical Chapters Meeting (ETCM)-2016. At that time, a methodological proposal was designed, implemented, and applied in a group of industrial plants for the management of the information security of the Industrial control systems (ICS). The present study displays an adaptation and improvement of such methodology with the purpose of aligning the proposal for the effective management of information security with the strategic objectives. The development of this study has been divided into three distinctive phases. Firstly, we induced the articulation of PMI-PMBOK v5 and ITIL v3 both for the management of the project and for the verification of risks in the IT services. Second, we applied a set of risk mitigation strategies based on international standards as NIST 800-82 and 800-30. Thirdly, we assembled the two mentioned phases in a Guide for standards-based instructions and security policies, which previously have been encouraged on NIST 800-82, 800-53 and 800-12. Hereby, we observed the reduction of incidents of information security, the correct delimitation of the functions of the direct responsible of the ICS and the improvement of the communication between the operative and technical areas of the involved companies. The results demonstrate the functionality of these improvements, especially in the context of the availability and integrity of information, which generates an added value to the enterprise.

The current enterprise architecture (EA) theory originates from the Business Systems Planning (BSP) methodology initiated by IBM in the 1960s and describes EA as a comprehensive blueprint of an enterprise organized according to a certain framework and describing the current state, the desired future state and the roadmap for transition between them. However, in this paper I demonstrate that the current EA theory poses more questions than answers and is, arguably, in an unsatisfactory state. This paper highlights the critical questions in EA research and is intended to spark further conversation in the EA research community. All the formulated questions address the fundamental aspects of the current EA theory that are critically important for the whole EA discipline. Although this paper does not propose any answers to these questions, it makes a non-theoretical contribution to the EA discipline by critically evaluating the current EA theory, provoking new thoughts and stimulating further research that will substantially alter the EA discipline in the future.

The development and introduction of innovations into the activities of innovation active enterprises is the main factor determining not only the quality of their functional activity and competitiveness, but also the structure, principles and methods of formation of the organizational economic controlling mechanism. In the course of the study developed and presented a conceptual model of organizational economic mechanism of management of an innovative enterprise. This model is built taking into account the specific nature of its operations and focusing on the latest achievements of science and technology. The authors of the article have determined the mission, the goal and the objectives of innovation active enterprises directed to economic, social, scientific, technological and environmental needs of society. In terms of the framework of integral information space, which is created and supported by information technologies, there have been offered mechanisms of contract administration, human resources management and financial management of innovation active enterprises.

The article deals with the nature of marketing planning at the enterprise and its features. The authors study the methodical approach of marketing planning, taking into account the market situation at the domestic market. The authors offer the systematization of the formation principles of the marketing planning system at the enterprise.

This article considers the problem of ensuring competitive capacity of an enterprise, and identifies the reserves for increasing it. The focus-on-clients of an enterprise was identified to be the main direction for increasing the competitive capacity. This article features the parameters for assessment of the degree of focus-on-clients of an enterprise, as well as formulae for the said assessment. It also presents methods to evaluate the priority of the criteria. The article contains the model created for evaluating the development of focus-on-clients of the enterprise. This model allows to assess the parameters that influence the degree of focus-on-clients, priority of such parameters, and identify the reserves for improving them. In particular, method for calculating quantitative parameters by converting qualitative parameters into quantitative was introduced. In addition, plan of activities aimed at improving the degree of focus-on-clients and, therefore, competitive capacity of the enterprise, is presented. The article features formulae, functional relations, and calculation of all parameters as well. The model for assessment and development of focus-on-customers presented in the work defines the degree of conformance between the selected strategy and accounting for consumers' preferences when the plan of activities aimed at ensuring competitive capacity of the enterprise is implemented.

This article covers the basic principles and methodological, economic and mathematical tools for solving the problem of modernization of Russian enterprises. The paper shows that the solution of this problem affects a wide range of topical issues of the modern economic science: effective structuring of the socio-economic aspect of society; concepts and definitions of ‘enterprise’; theory of the firm; theory of production functions and associated models; methods of organization and of the evolution management of the development of the economy at the micro level. The article proposes the concept of the enterprise as a system of institutional and organizational, social and labour, property and technological, business and model sectors interacting both among themselves and with the authorities, population, economic and business structures of regional and federal levels. This concept allows not only formulating a correct definition of the ‘enterprise’ concept, but also indicating the ways of the implementation of enterprise modernization projects. The concept of system modernization as a method of the transformation of economic entities, occupying an intermediate position between the administrative modernization and organic evolution has been developed. The author classifies the risks and advantages of both methods of transformation. The resource-based and competence-based theory of the firm highlighting the interaction of enterprise resources with its capabilities (ambitions, aspirations, competencies) can be the basis for describing the functioning of the enterprise under modernization. The nonconformity of the amount of resources to the level of capabilities of the enterprise is a powerful stimulus of its transformation. The article has developed a small-size model of the functioning of an enterprise under modernization, including the resource-based and competence-based production function, as well as the functions of costs, dynamics of resources and capabilities of the firm. The author presents the key elements of the strategy of the massive modernization of enterprises at the regional and federal levels.

The article is devoted to the solution of actual problems of innovative development of information and analytical provision of managing an enterprise according to the newest technology. A number of recommendations concerning technological upgrading foundation of modernization of information and analytic provision of managing an enterprise are elaborated. Technological approach to the modeling of information provision of business management is substantiated. Actualizing information and analytic provision of managing an enterprise has been carried out in developed flexible information system that is organized as internal network structure. Technological foundation of information and analytical process enterprise to modernize has been considered based on the modern tools of information and communication decisions. Information and analytical provision of managing have been developed through internal and external parallels of impact, which interconnection coordinates theory, methodology and organization of information processes with actualization of its model. The model of information and analytic provision of managing an enterprise according to the individual characteristics of corporate culture, and information environment and development strategy of business entity on the basis of characteristics of technological provision of information process is developed. Information complex has been suggested as developed system with technological process of forming initial data and modernizing processing, transmission and storage of information in accordance with distinctive characteristics of enterprise and general tendencies of its development

In information systems development models are used to represent real and target enterprise systems. Ideally the enterprise could have two basic enterprise models an As-Is model an To-Be model that may integrate all representations of the enterprise relevant to information systems development. Although there are many different suggested approaches how to model the enterprise, no consensus exists of what exactly should be the spectrum of model elements and corresponding to them enterprise artifacts for successful enterprise and information systems development. In this paper we propose an approach of identifying core enterprise model constituents for different systems development settings. The approach is based on the integration of professional knowledge regarding artifacts used in various systems development cases with the variations of a continuous requirements engineering framework that combines traditional requirements identification functions with additional continuous audit, monitoring and analytics activities.

This editorial is concerned with the need for an integrated approach to the design and engineering of organisations and their enterprises. Organisational Design originates from the organisational sciences, while the notion of Enterprise Engineering results from the engineering sciences (most notably information systems engineering, business (process) engineering, business process optimisation, and enterprise architecture). The Organisational Design and Enterprise Engineering journal (OD&EE) is built on the premise that there should not be an “either–or” relation between Organisational Design and Enterprise Engineering, but rather an integrated approach that brings out the best of the two. A driver for the creation of the journal was the observation that the “either–or” mindset was (and still is) a major obstacle to the development of organisational thinking, and that this artificial divide must be abolished. In achieving more integration between Organisational Design and Enterprise Engineering, we suggest to take a model-enabled approach, where models should act as boundary objects between the social processes involved in organisational design processes, and the more analytical and rational side of enterprise engineering.

Microblogging, as a typical representative of social networking applications, its advantages in interpersonal communication and information dissemination are very obvious. At present, micro-blog has become an important enterprise information dissemination channels and customer management tools. In this paper, based on the construction of enterprise microblogging knowledge network, combined with social network analysis, the author puts forward a set of micro-blog enterprises in-depth analysis of practical methods. It has a certain reference value for the further development of the value of enterprise microblogging data.

Enterprise social networks, however, can also offer a platform for promoting a broad cultural change in a company. When it comes to influencing human behavior, their role is paramount. The role of an Enterprise social network in promoting a culture change in a company, however, is far less explored than its role as a communication means. In the US industry, a specific discipline studies and employs the practices of influencing employee behavior and motivations. This discipline is called Organizational Change Management (OCM). OCM is specifically interested in studying new channels for relaying information about a change to employees. How do you best manage the flow of information in a corporate social network to achieve maximum efficiency? What is the best communication channel to influence employee behaviors to achieve and sustain company goals? This article examines the practices of channeling information to company employees and from employees to Senior Leadership using an Enterprise social network. Target audiences for this article include Senior Management, members of the Project Management Organizations (PMO), Organizational Change Management Organizations (OCMO), training teams, and organizational development consultants. This article provides our department's experiences with utilizing enterprise systems as part of teaching accounting concepts in a thoughtful, integrated fashion across the accounting curriculum. We describe how a specific enterprise system (SAP) has been used to design integrated accounting and technology experiences across an accounting curriculum. The description of our curriculum integration design, our integration process, and preliminary outcomes presented in this paper can be useful background to accounting systems educators involved in similar efforts at their institutions.

Many manufacturing enterprises act in a dynamic and partially unpredictable market. This is shown through shorter product life cycles, reduced forecast accuracy within the supply chain and frequently new product launches. In fact, there are strong fluctuations in the overall production volume and job profile. Rigid enterprises encounter on significant problems, if they are not able to coordinate targets precisely and quickly to all processes of a value stream. These circumstances lead manufacturing enterprises to transfer principles of Lean Production Systems to other business units such as development and service. Therefore, the goal is the development of a Lean Enterprise, which enables the overall consideration of all processes through the entire value stream. Through this comprehensive process orientation all actors can be linked together along the entire value chain. Therefore, internal and external stakeholders have to be considered. This can be seen as one basic factor for an overall coordination. Approaches that enable a dynamic coordination of all processes within a Lean Enterprise have not been derived yet. Considering this topic, this paper derives and describes an approach to determine objectives of the corporate enterprise strategy to the processes of all units through the entire value stream. In addition to this, processes can be quickly adapted to deal with dynamic and unpredictable markets. Thereby a dynamic coordination of all processes within a Lean Enterprise can be realized.

Small-medium scale enterprises enterprises (SME) found in developing and developed countries is still facing classical handicap such as technology, finance, managerial and market accessibility, in spite of its high flexibiliry, responsiveness, dynamic and resistance. Therefore, designing and management of SME in context of technology dissemination needs to understand business dimension as enterprise description, product/service, market, enterprise location, competition, management, personnel, budget, research and development. Beside general technology, both SME in general and specific are closely related to: (1) Technology choice covering technology complexities, capital intensity, and human resource (HR) quality; (2) Technology learning strategy based on learned technology position combination, both process and products with faced competition, through existing learned technology, technology integration, technology development and basic research; (3) Enterprise unit covering enterprise scale, HR, organization,location, product type, enterprise unit, experiences, competition level and business network; (4) Performance indication of business unit and business man, and technology diffusion institutions; (5) Linkages of business with characteristics of authority, functional, normative and diffusion. Dissemination pattern of integrated and sustainable technology is expected to establish network among development subjects intensively and dynamically, to compile agenda of transfer technology, implement technology that is appropriate and develop learning organization for technology dissemination activities.

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems reveal and pose non-typical risks due to its dependencies of interlinked business operations and process reengineering. Understanding of such type of risks is significant conducting and planning assurance involvement of the reliability of these complicated computer systems. Specially, in case of distributed environment where data reside at multiple sites and risks are of unique nature. Until now, there are brief pragmatic grounds on this public sector ERP issue. To analyze this subject, a partially organized consultation study was carried out with 15 skilled information systems auditors who are specialists in evaluating ERP systems risks. This methodology permitted to get more elaborated information about stakeholder?s opinions and customer experiences. In addition, interviewees mentioned a numerous basic execution troubles (e.g. inadequately skilled human resource and insufficient process reengineering attempts) that lead into enhanced hazards. It was also reported by the interviewees that currently risks vary across vendors and across applications. Eventually, in offering assurance with ERP systems participants irresistibly stresses examining the process instead of system end product.

This paper suggests a new type of enterprise models called fractal enterprise models (FEM), with accompanying methodological support for their design. FEM shows interconnections between the business processes in an enterprise by connecting them to the assets they use and manage. Assets considered in the model could be tangible (buildings, heavy machinery, etc.) and intangible (employees, business process definitions, etc.). A FEM model is built by using two types of patterns called archetypes: a process-assets archetype that connects a process with assets used in it, and an asset-processes archetype that connects an asset with processes aimed to manage this asset (e.g., hiring people, or servicing machinery). Alternating these patterns creates a fractal structure that makes relationships between various parts of the enterprise explicit. FEM can be used for different purposes, including finding a majority of the processes in an enterprise and planning business change or radical transformation. Besides discussing FEM and areas of its usage, the paper presents results from a completed project in order to test the practical usefulness of FEM and its related methodological support.
