Abstract: The article focuses on the use of acrylic binders concepts to improve the barrier properties, low water uptake, and anticorrosion properties of waterborne anticorrosion coatings. It states that water-based anticorrosion resins went through different developments with the aim to replace its solvent-base counterpart. The advantages of waterborne acrylic binders including low organic content, good corrosion protection, and low flammability but it is inapplicabile to underwater use.
