In the era of digitalisation, the construction industry is fast embracing digital technology, which evolved from Industry 4.0 (fourth industrial revolution [4IR]). Built environment programmes (BEPs) are expected to meet the needs of the digitalisation era via Education 4.0. Education 4.0 aims to transform education's future with diverse digital automation and innovative paedagogical procedures. Studies concerning Education 4.0 in Nigeria's BEPs are scarce. Hence, this study aims to appraise Education 4.0 and investigate the perceived issues facing implementing Education 4.0 in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), using BEPs as a case study. The findings intend to improve Education 4.0 implementation practices in BEPs. Data were sourced from 40 participants across Nigeria for better coverage and representation via a semi-structured interview approach. The participants were knowledgeable about Education 4.0 and Nigeria's BEPs. This study adopted a thematic analysis of the virtually collected data and presented the findings in themes. This study shows that Education 4.0 implementation in Nigeria's BEPs is lax and should be overhauled to improve achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4)—quality education—and other related SDGs. The findings reveal that improved Education 4.0 can enhance the achievement of SDG 4. The findings cluster the perceived 18 hindrances facing Education 4.0 implementation into three main groups. Also, the findings proffer feasible measures to improve Education 4.0 implementation in Nigeria's HEIs, using BEPs as a case study, via improved transformative competencies, technological advancement, innovative paedagogical procedures, and stakeholders' collaboration to improve achieving SDG 4. The proposed framework could assist in creating new values and transforming the students' BEP competencies via stakeholder collaboration and Education 4.0 for the private sector (future talents' beneficiary), thus fostering their employability. Personalized learning, a pedagogical approach tailored to individual needs and capacities, has garnered considerable attention in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and the fourth industrial revolution. This systematic literature review aims to identify key drivers of personalized learning and critically assess the role of AI in reinforcing these drivers. Following PRISMA guidelines, a thorough search was conducted across major peer-reviewed journal databases, resulting in the inclusion of 102 relevant studies published between 2013 and 2022. A combination of qualitative and quantitative analyses, employing categorization and frequency analysis techniques, was performed to discern patterns and insights from the literature. The findings of this review highlight several critical drivers that contribute to the effectiveness of personalized learning, both from a broad view of education and in the specific context of e-learning. Firstly, recognizing and accounting for individual student characteristics is foundational to tailoring educational experiences. Secondly, personalizing content delivery and instructional methods ensures that learning materials resonate with learners' preferences and aptitudes. Thirdly, customizing assessment and feedback mechanisms enables educators to provide timely and relevant guidance to learners. Additionally, tailoring user interfaces and learning environments fosters engagement and accessibility, catering to diverse learning styles and needs. Moreover, the integration of AI presents significant opportunities to enhance personalized learning. AI-driven solutions offer capabilities such as automated learner profiling, adaptive content recommendation, realtime assessment, and the development of intelligent user interfaces, thereby augmenting the personalization of learning experiences. However, the successful adoption of AI in personalized learning requires addressing various challenges, including the need to develop educators' competencies, refine theoretical frameworks, and navigate ethical considerations surrounding data privacy and bias. The research solved the socio-philosophical explication of the problem of industrial revolutions in the history of the development of human civilization, focusing on the issues of education development. The content and socio-cultural prerequisites of the formation of Industry 1.0 – 3.0 have been conceptualized in connection with human civilization’s corresponding economic and educational landscapes. The study showed that Industry 4.0 and Education 4.0 are subordinated to it and revolve around developing technologies (in particular, digital ones), focusing on developing scientific and technological progress. The education paradigm of Education 4.0 pragmatically concentrates on the real socio-cultural situation (information technologies expansion, flexibility for labor market challenges, hard and soft skills, etc.). It was demonstrated that the concept of Industry 5.0 is an attempt to deepen the achievements of Industry 4.0, bringing to the fore the idea of human-centeredness and sustainable development. It was shown that the humanization of civilizational progress and technological progress should occur through rethinking the education paradigm, which should act as an essential transit tool in the era of Industry 5.0. The dynamics of the formation of Industry 4.0 and the short-term perspective of the transition to Industry 5.0 naturally require the involvement of the philosophy of education as a tool for formulating modernization steps in the educational sphere, which should be characterized by systematicity and deep futuristic orientation. It was demonstrated that the basic principle for the philosophy of education for Industry 5.0 is the idea that Industry 5.0 successively deploys the technical and economic achievements and principles of Industry 4.0, with a particular emphasis on human-centeredness and the sustainable development of humanity. Education 5.0 is a holistic philosophical theory, educational policy, and a teacher who can implement in practice the principles of Industry 5.0.

The advent of Education 4.0, which aligns with the fourth industrial revolution, has been significantly influenced by advancements in digital technologies. Central to this evolution is the metaverse, a virtual shared space that merges augmented reality, virtual reality, and physical reality. This paper delves into the metaverse's applications within Education 4.0, highlighting its potential to revolutionize learning experiences, enhance collaboration, and improve access to quality education. By reviewing current literature and case studies, we identify the primary benefits, such as increased engagement, personalized learning, and broader accessibility. Additionally, we address the challenges associated with metaverse integration, including technical limitations, privacy concerns, and the need for new pedagogical approaches. Through a mixed-methods research approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data along with expert interviews, this paper provides a comprehensive overview of the metaverse's role in future education. The findings suggest that while significant hurdles remain, the metaverse offers a promising avenue for transforming educational practices to meet the demands of the digital age, ultimately fostering more dynamic, inclusive, and effective learning environments. Future research should focus on evaluating long-term impacts and developing standards for metaverse applications in education.

The integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) into adaptive and personalized learning represents a transformative shift in the educational landscape. This research paper investigates the impact of incorporating generative AI into adaptive and personalized learning environments, with a focus on tracing the evolution from conventional artificial intelligence methods to generative AI and identifying its diverse applications in education. The study begins with a comprehensive review of the evolution of generative AI models and frameworks. A framework of selection criteria is established to curate case studies showcasing the applications of generative AI in education. These case studies are analysed to elucidate the benefits and challenges associated with integrating generative AI into adaptive learning frameworks. Through an in-depth analysis of selected case studies, the study reveals tangible benefits derived from generative AI integration, including increased student engagement, improved test scores and accelerated skill development. Ethical, technical and pedagogical challenges related to generative AI integration are identified, emphasizing the need for careful consideration and collaborative efforts between educators and technologists. The findings underscore the transformative potential of generative AI in revolutionizing education. By addressing ethical concerns, navigating technical challenges and embracing human-centric approaches, educators and technologists can collaboratively harness the power of generative AI to create innovative and inclusive learning environments. Additionally, the study highlights the transition from Education 4.0 to Education 5.0, emphasizing the importance of social-emotional learning and human connection alongside personalization in shaping the future of education.

Abstract Much has been written about Adaptive Learning, but does its implementation alone guarantee success? We have found that integrating an Adaptive Learning Strategy with diverse didactic techniques gives better results. The objectives of this exploratory study were to know the impact of the Adaptive Learning Strategy on students’ learning and achievement of disciplinary and transversal sub-competencies in courses supported by an Adaptive Platform in the School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnologico de Monterrey. The assessment of the students’ and professors’ experience with an Adaptive Learning Strategy evaluated platform’s usability, teaching, learning, and engagement. The study employed a mixed methodological approach, sequential Quant- > Qual, and was quasi-experimental, with control and experimental groups. The courses that participated in the intervention were Computational Thinking, Physics I, Physics II, and Fundamental Mathematical Modeling. The findings indicated that implementing an innovation like Adaptive Learning positively impacts students’ learning and improvement when integrating elements of a flipped classroom, self-regulated learning, and micro-learning into an Adaptive Learning Strategy. The authors also propose an Implementation Model of the Adaptive Learning Strategy that has been designed by the university, implemented, and evaluated successfully.

Due to the pivotal roles played by Education 4.0 in reshaping the skills necessary for sustenance in the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), we investigate computer science teachers' preparedness to acquire the requisite skills for effectively equipping students with skills, especially technology skills for the life and work of 4IR. Teachers play crucial roles in preparing students for a technologydriven world. Examining their readiness to acquire skills for effective delivery of Education 4.0's skills-based content becomes imperative. Prior to data collection, the teachers underwent a tailored professional development training focusing on 4IR, Education 4.0, and the required skills. Our findings reveal an overall positive disposition of the teachers towards acquiring the skills needed to fulfil the roles demanded by Education 4.0. This finding reiterates the importance of professional development initiatives to assist teachers in meeting the skills requirements and also face the challenges of Education 4.0. In our modern, technology-driven, and interconnected world, providing students with strong English communication skills is essential to prepare them for the future workforce. Education 4.0 refers to the integration of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality, and the Internet of Things, to enhance and personalize learning experiences in contemporary educational settings. Education 4.0 integrates these technologies to create personalized and immersive learning experiences that cater to individual needs, emphasizing critical 21st-century skills. Therefore, this study aimed to enhance professional English communication among students using the Education 4.0 applications ELSA Speak and Busuu. It employed a novel approach based on the substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition (SAMR) model to enhance communication effectively. The participants, selected through a stratified random sampling technique from the Virudunagar district of Tamil Nadu, India, included final year students (N = 100) from the arts, and science, and engineering disciplines, reflecting India’s multilingual society and numerous regional languages. After a pilot study, a pre-test using a questionnaire was administered, followed by a 4-week intervention utilizing the ELSA Speak and Busuu apps, and a post-test using another questionnaire. Data analysis included paired-sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests. The results revealed a significant improvement in the participants’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills before and after the intervention. Future recommendations include further explorations of Education 4.0 tools and techniques, and longitudinal studies to assess their sustained impact.

The importance of digitalisation in teaching and learning, which is addressed in Education 4.0 systems, is a relatively recent concept. Education 4.0 involves integrating advanced digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, and automation, into the teaching and learning process. The need to transform the perception of educational resources arose from the transformation of productive resources, which is exemplified by Industry 4.0. Digitalisation in education has been rapidly advancing in recent years, regardless of a country's level of development, and has transformed how education is accessed and delivered. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on higher education institutions worldwide, accelerating the use of digital tools in education. The BRICS countries face the immense challenge of maintaining their growing influence in the global order renewal, which requires bridging the educational technological gap with best practices from developed countries in line with Society 4.0. This article highlights the undeniable need for Education 4.0 in BRICS countries and the importance of striking a delicate balance between embracing technological advancement and preserving national cultural identities to promote sustainable development.

The purpose of the study is to examine how Industry 4.0, and the digital environment, have together created a new situation for companies and universities in terms of soft skills for employability. While companies aim to introduce a new structure, universities try to align with these changes by developing new educational methods, curricula, and models. Many researches are focusing on - rightfully so - Industry 4.0 skills and competences to gain throughout higher education. However, we have shifted our research interest and asked students to what degree their university years added to their knowledge, self-management and skills. 147 engineering and technical manager students' responses from two faculties at Óbuda University, Hungary were analyzed to see their evaluations of the role of the university in the framework of Education 4.0, and their chances in the job market. Quantitative and CHAID analyses were used. Students' responses show significant differences between the two faculties regarding languages, teamwork, self-management and in the different order of the skills seen as most paramount to employability. Engineering students attach greater importance to field-relevant knowledge, while technical manager students find decision-making more useful. The research proved that Education 4.0 is here and Z generation studying at universities prefers problem-based learning, including creativity, analytical, and critical thinking while would like to have good communication skills. Universities need to adapt to these changes and integrate hard as well as soft skills development in tutoring. The importance of technical-IT knowledge is just as important as having interpersonal skills, excellence in problem-solving, so students need to be taught how to analyze problems, engage in scientific debate, or express themselves clearly as previous literature indicated. The digital transformation associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution is having an impact on the way we teach. Under the term Education 4.0, new teaching methods, new technologies, as well as a student-centered approach, are expected to be used in teaching. One established method of teaching is the use of Serious Games, as it has various positive effects in terms of motivation and engagement. This paper deals with the question of how the transformation towards Education 4.0 influences the way Serious Games are designed and used in the context of higher education. To this end, a systematized literature review was conducted. Out of 550 publications, 28 were included. This revealed works on the general conception as well as studies on Serious Games in various areas of university teaching. The results show different concepts of Serious Games, with the structure often being adapted to learning content and not to students. In terms of technical implementation, Serious Games are mostly web- or desktop-applications instead of new technologies such as VR. As a result, new concepts seem necessary to adapt Serious Games to Education 4.0. The focus on culture as an engine of sustainable development has favoured its gradual acquisition by institutions engaged in the protection and promotion of heritage as an enabling and systemic factor capable of connecting innovation, continue education, research, and citizen engagement in a single chain. Knowledge of the landscape that combines works of nature and humankind and its bio-cultural diversity makes it possible to identify innovative informal education and new tourist itineraries where the real experience is presented as a cultural pilgrimage. The European project of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Programme RISE ‘Informal and non-Formal E-Learning for Cultural Heritage - xFORMAL’, currently halfway through its lifecycle, was born to create an informal way of accessing the cultural heritage of one's territory, revealing its past, history, and the civilisations that preceded us. After two years of closure due to the pandemic, this project reintroduced an authentic experience through gamification, a contact with landscapes, museums, and archaeological sites with physical, social, and cultural dimensions of their environments across space and over time. Building upon this foundation, the article delves into the intricate design and architectural principles that underpin the creation of the xFORMAL game, showcasing it as a paradigm of informal learning. This exploration includes a detailed analysis of the game's innovative design elements, educational strategies, and its role in facilitating an engaging and immersive learning experience outside traditional educational settings.

The digital transformation has profoundly affected every facet of human life, with technological advancements potentially reshaping the economy, society, and our daily living and working modalities. Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Generative AI (GAI), has emerged as a pivotal disruption in education, showcasing the capability to produce diverse and context-relevant content. Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) has revolutionized natural language processing, computer vision, and creative arts. Large language models (LLMs) like GPT-4 and Open Assistant and tools like DALL-E and Midjourney for the visual and creative domain are increasingly used for various tasks by students and others with critical information needs. AI presents novel avenues for crafting effective learning activities and developing enhanced technology-driven learning applications in the educational sector. However, integrating AI with a pedagogical focus pose challenge. Education 4.0, which integrates emerging technologies and innovative strategies, aims to prepare new generations for a technologically fluid world. This systematic literature review aims to analyze the use of LLMs in higher education within the context of Education 4.0’s pedagogical approaches, identifying trends and challenges from a selection of 83 relevant articles out of an initial set of 841 papers. The findings underscore the significant potential of LLMs to enrich higher education, aligning with Education 4.0 by fostering more autonomous, collaborative, and interactive learning. It highlights the necessity for human oversight to ensure the quality and accuracy of AI-generated content. It addresses ethical and legal challenges to ensure equitable implementation, suggesting an exploration of LLM integration that complements human interaction while maintaining academic integrity and pedagogical foundation.

Amid Education 4.0 and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we explore the integration of self-directed learning within the metaverse. This study envisions empowered learners, merging the metaverse’s immersive potential with self-directed learning. Using text mining and co-occurrence analysis for student responses prompts questions about their preference over traditional methods. Text mining extracts nuanced insights from open-ended responses, surpassing structured data. Co-occurrence analysis reveals hidden concept relationships, enhancing student engagement and understanding. Beyond XR, the metaverse encompasses avatars, virtual experiences, and value systems. Educators navigate this landscape with text mining, shaping value exchange through engaging content. Integrating real-world experiences in the metaverse merges immersion and personalized learning. Challenges include data precision and semantic intricacies in co-occurrence graphs. Future solutions involve real- time adaptability and sentiment analysis for holistic insights into learner emotions. This study envisions a synergy of self- directed learning and the metaverse, bridging digital and physical realms. Learners navigate interconnected experiences, fostering autonomy. Uncovering the metaverse’s potential contributes to education for digitally adept learners.

Background. As Industry 4.0 debuted roughly a decade ago, it is now necessary to examine how it affects various aspects of the discipline. It is the responsibility of the education sector to guarantee that the next generation is equipped mentally, physically, and cognitively to face unforeseen challenges. Numerous educational institutions are outfitted with Industry 4.0 technology-based learning. Industry 4.0 fosters advancements in learning methodologies, especially for language enhancements. Learners may gain knowledge at their base, providing them an opportunity for independent study. The majority of subjects have been acquired through Industry 4.0. This research chapter explores the intersection of Industry 4.0 and education, specifically focusing on the SmallTalk AI tool. It investigates how technological and digital innovations within the context of Industry 4.0 can serve as powerful tools to enhance language learning outcomes. Methods. This article presents a comprehensive analysis of statistical data and empirical evidence to support the positive impact of Industry 4.0 technology of SmallTalk on language acquisition particularly speaking. The study also determines the relationship among participants' usage through the technology acceptance model (TAM). Furthermore, it examines the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating these innovations into language learning pedagogies, offering insights for educators and policymakers to harness the potential of Industry 4.0 in fostering language proficiency. The research employs quantitative analysis. The data obtained from educational institutions has been analyzed using the SPSS and AMOS software. Results. The results indicate that Industry 4.0 has had an important effect on English language acquisition. This self-supported adaptable system of education facilitates effective student learning. The emerging generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, such as Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT), have recently taken different disciplines by surprise. Very few scholarly papers show the collaborative effort by researchers on the impact of generative AI in higher education (HE) and its implication on HE disciplines and activities. This paper uses citation network analysis by deep searching the different research articles using Scopus databases. A bibliographic analysis tool is used to reveal patterns of application of generative AI chatbots in HE, collaboration of generative AI research, and generative AI in HE among different countries of the world. Furthermore, it investigates the thematic topics that generative AI in HE researchers are studying. Research papers from Scopus databases were sampled. The sampling timeframe is from January 2022 to September 2023. This paper presents the preliminary findings of the work that was conducted for a doctoral thesis in computer science and information technology. The preliminary findings show that Spain, the United States of America (USA), and Australia are countries that collaborate more often on the development of generative AI chatbots. In the study, generative AI chatbots were most likely to cover plagiarism and essay inclusion, but very few covered research for postgraduate enterprises. The global challenges and problems that threaten sustainability and human well-being demand the provision of creative, innovative, and affordable solutions so that they are within the reach of different levels of society. From the point of view of Higher Education, this is a major challenge since it is responsible for training new generations with the competencies and knowledge that allow them to respond to contemporary challenges and problems. This study provides a framework to promote sustainable entrepreneurship through transdisciplinary and abductive thinking. This combination of approaches will allow students to identify, analyze, and understand contemporary problems and, through a systematized process based on the “design thinking” design model, propose creative, innovative, and affordable solutions that can be implemented through entrepreneurship mechanisms. The identified findings that will be presented in this work are (i) the relevance of the Education 4.0 model as a reference to promote transdisciplinarity in a current teaching-learning context, (ii) The relevance of “design for sustainable development” as a trigger for sustainable entrepreneurship, (iii) The formation of desirable competencies in the profile of the higher education student based on transdisciplinarity and abductive thinking within the active learning process, and (iv) quantitative and qualitative measurement that allows measuring acceptance and evaluation of the long-term sustainability of the solutions obtained. This work will present the implementation of the proposed framework through a case study. This case study allowed us to identify elements of the proposed reference framework. The case study will address the problem of water scarcity and pollution, describing initiatives to achieve ODS 6, where it explains how sustainable and visionary solutions can be forged through transdisciplinary collaboration and abductive thinking. The project named “STEAM-mural fountain” done by a transdisciplinary working team between academia-society-industry is described, which aims to make technological advances in water treatment and monitoring visible to society.

Entrepreneurial thinking is considered a desirable competency in the profile of today’s professionals because it includes sub-competencies that strengthen individuals’ leadership capacity and stimulate the development of creative solutions that present a high impact on society. However, it has been detected that disadvantaged communities located in areas with underdeveloped conditions and rural areas present a significant disparity in access to training models, current infrastructure, and activities that promote entrepreneurship compared to developed communities frequently found in large cities. Through a comparative analysis with quantitative methods, we seek to argue the need that these types of communities have. In addition, the design of a training model based on the design framework for Education 4.0 is presented; this training model seeks to train in the sub-competences of entrepreneurial thinking using the “push and pull” technique with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its central axis. This seeks to close the existing gap, provide affordable resources to these types of disadvantaged communities, and, at the same time, promote local solutions through the SDGs. The study is conducted in the eastern region of Michoacán, Mexico, and will present the preliminary results.

The purpose of this article is to show the evolution and requirements of the educational system in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, to identify the main problems, to identify current areas for further research.The fourth industrial revolution bases its development on smart technologies, artificial intelligence, big data, robotics, etc. In the new conditions, educational institutions are faced with the task of preparing successful graduates and new ways of learning. The relevance of the problems outlined in this article is determined by the main goal of higher education is to prepare qualified human resources for the country’s economy, create and maintain an extensive advanced knowledge base, and ensure the personal development of graduates of an educational institution. It is the quality of higher education that determines the quality of human resources in a country. To do this, students need to master a wide range of competencies in their chosen field of study, constantly expand the boundaries of knowledge in all disciplines, and develop professional skills in business, science and new technologies.Methodology and research methods. During the study, an analysis of scientific publications for the period 2012–2022 (plus the beginning of 2023) was carried out, posted in the databases: Springer Link, IEEE Xplore, ACM, Science Direct, Google Scholar, as well as in the scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.ru.In the course of the study, general scientific methods were used: an analytical review of the problem, methods of synthesis, induction, methods of comparative analysis, generalization and a systematic approach were applied to the use of intellectual analysis methods in e-education systems, scientific publications of the last 20 years were used.Results and scientific novelty. Our research has identified the most common tasks used in EDM, as well as those that are the most promising in the future. The theoretical analysis of the main key trends of “Education 4.0” carried out in the paper made it possible to identify the main characteristics of education. It was shown that education should become more individualized and adapted to the abilities of the learner. As a result of the study, the most characteristic tasks of Data Mining in education were identified, ways of its improvement and quality improvement were shown. Practical significance. In Education 4.0, a personalized learning process is expected, and that students are the protagonist. In this new education format, it is necessary to prepare students with the skills and competencies of the 21st-Century, such as teamwork, creativity, and autonomy. One of the ways to develop skills and competencies in students can be through block programming, which can be used with emerging technologies such as robotics and IoT and in an interdisciplinary way. Thus, block programming in High School is important because it is possible to work on aspects such as problem-solving, algorithmic thinking, among other skills (Perin et al., 2021), which are necessary in the contemporary world. Thus, our Systematic Mapping Study (SMS) aims to identify which block programming tools support of Education 4.0 in High School. Overall, 46 papers were selected, and data were extracted. Based on the results, a total of 24 identified block programming tools that can be used in high school collaboratively and playfully and with an interdisciplinary methodology. Moreover, it was possible to see that most studies address block programming with high school students, demonstrating a lack of studies that address block programming with teachers. This SMS contributed to identifying block programming tools, emerging technologies, audience (teacher or student), and learning spaces where block programming is being worked on.

Education 4.0 epitomizes a contemporary educational paradigm leveraging IoT devices, sensors, and actuators to facilitate real-time and continuous assessment, thereby enhancing student evaluation methodologies. Within this context, the study scrutinizes the pivotal role of infrastructure, learning environment, and faculty, acknowledged as fundamental determinants of educational excellence. Identifying five discrete yet crucial hidden parameters, awareness, accessibility, participation, satisfaction, and academic loafing, this paper meticulously examines their ramifications within the Education 4.0 landscape. Employing a comparative analysis encompassing pre- and post-implementation scenarios, the research assesses the transformative impact of Education 4.0 on the educational sector while dissecting the influence of these hidden parameters across these temporal contexts. The findings underscore the substantial enhancements introduced by Education 4.0, including the provision of real-time and continuous assessment mechanisms, heightened accessibility to educational resources, and amplified student engagement levels. Notably, the study advocates for bolstering stakeholders’ accountability as a strategic measure to mitigate academic loafing within an ambient educational milieu. In essence, this paper offers invaluable insights into the intricate interplay between hidden parameters and educational quality, elucidating the pivotal role of Education 4.0 in catalyzing advancements within the education industry.

The objective of the paper is to briefly find a connections or disconnection between Generation Z needs and wishes and Industry 4.0 needs from its specialists based on Education 4.0 implementations. The method used is secondary qualitative analysis, from information selected from information and hypothesis elaborated by the most known sources in terms of validity and recognition. The findings reveal nine trend that could be added to education principles to develop a just and self-sustaining form for education instead of knowledge. In conclusion we found that the Generation Z has a high expertise of Technology use that can be an advantage for organizations that embrace new technologies. Also, Generation Z needs flexible working hours, a minimum independence and autonomy and an encouraging working environment.

The concept of Education 4.0 emerged linked to trends regarding Industry 4.0 and Internet 4.0 and is based on the integration of emerging technologies to revolutionize the way education is delivered. The use of these emerging technologies has created a vast amount of data that requires careful and thorough management in order to obtain the most possible benefits such as developing personalized learning experiences, smart ways of tracking student progress and providing feedback to all parties involved in the educational process. Therefore, knowledge management tools and strategies are gaining more importance, especially in the context of higher education institutions which have been identified as important sources of knowledge creation and sharing. The implementation of specific knowledge management strategies can furthermore help facilitate the transition to Education 4.0 by embracing key aspects of Industry 4.0 and Internet 4.0 such as promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, providing a support system for streamlining administrative processes, cost reduction and improving the decision-making process. In the current paper, the authors analyse the current trends regarding knowledge management strategies deployed in Education 4.0 and propose a set of possible approaches which take into account knowledge management practices for an efficient transition to Education 4.0. The set of possible approaches and Industry 4.0 tools that could facilitate the transition have been organized in a structured, easy to follow model based on a four-stage process that relies on the feedback loops from both the process inputs and outputs. Using the proposed model facilitates the transition to Education 4.0 and helps practitioners understand the main aspects of each stage and select the Industry 4.0 tools that can be used in their respective context in order to yield most benefits.

Purpose - The technological breakthrough known as the 4th Industrial Revolution is characterised by the mass spread of the Internet and its penetration into most human activities. Devices are being connected to this network, giving rise to new sociotechnical systems. For such systems to work reliably, experts with digital skills are needed. Aim - The aim of this paper is to explore the possibilities of appropriate curriculum adaptation in light of human capital development trends in the context of digitalisation. Design/methodology/approach - A detailed survey of publications in the Web of Science database was used to investigate the issue under study. In order to have a complete picture, the results were examined in VOSviewer. Findings - The results show a growing trend of interest in this subject. Professionals are making efforts to incorporate digital courses into the curriculum since they recognise the value of continuous learning. Limitations of the study - Much deeper and more detailed research, based on primary data sources is needed on this issue to obtain more relevant and detailed results. Practical Implications - This paper has provided insight into the trend of the issue under study, revealing the necessity of implementing digital courses in the content of education. The paper's contribution is its suggestions for curriculum modifications that would help students become more digitally literate and hence more equipped for the workplace of the future – Work 4.0. Originality/value – Research, based on secondary data sources, confirms the growing importance of a digital nature in context of Industry 4.0 with practical implications to educational process.

Background and Objectives: With the emergence of Industry 4.0 at the beginning of the 21st century and the introduction of technologies related to it such as Internet of Things, virtual reality, augmented reality, big data, automatic robots, etc., many developments took place, the results of which also affected the field of education and gave birth to a concept called education 4.0. Students affected by this concept in the near future should acquire the capacity to learn and develop skills in the real and virtual world and technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and cyber-physical technologies and their integration with the classroom become doubly important in these conditions, so that today many schools in the world use this technology to achieve the goals of education 4.0. They consider them essential in their educational programs. Therefore, knowing, choosing appropriate technology and using it in schools can facilitate the path of education and training of students in the field of learning. Since many of the technologies of Industry 4.0 are emerging and are in the stage of increasing growth, it is important to pay attention to the technology transfer process and its first stage, i.e., the selection and acquisition phase. Therefore, the purpose of the current research is to investigate the background of the studies and introduce some of these technologies, explain some of their applications, and identify the factors affecting the selection of the appropriate technology for the acquisition of priority technology in the studied school.Methods: The study adopted a mixed-methods approach (qualitative-quantitative) and at first by searching documents, books and articles, with mata-synthesis method, 13 factors affecting the choice of Industry 4.0 technologies to be used in the school were extracted. The participants of this research included the girls in an educational complex located in Tehran and the time of the research was the academic year of 1400-1401. Also, according to the upcoming requirements in the short-term period of 5 years, as well as by reviewing the articles and opinions of system experts, 5 technologies from the industry 4.0 (Internet of Things, digital twin, virtual reality, augmented reality and automatic robots) were selected and then, using the Fuzzy TOPSIS method, the expert opinion of seven experts, who were selected in a purposeful way for this research, was elicited regarding the priority of choosing selected technologies through the decision matrix questionnaire.Findings: The results of Fuzzy TOPSIS calculations showed that augmented reality technology with a number of 6.836 had the smallest distance from the positive ideal, and by calculating the similarity index and with a final score of 0.522, it had a higher priority among the selected technologies. Moreover, virtual reality technology with a number of 7.654 was the second the option was far from the ideal, and ranked as the second one with a final score of 0.473. Also, Internet of Things technology was ranked as the third one with a final score of 0.459.Conclusion: According to the findings and based on the thirteen main factors affecting the choice of technology, the use of augmented reality in the classroom environment and its integration with education in the studied school can lead to productivity in the use of this technology and the context it provided for the development of learning capacities in students according to the requirements of education 4.0.

The focus on culture as an engine of sustainable development has favoured its gradual acquisition by institutions engaged in the protection and promotion of heritage as an enabling and systemic factor capable of connecting innovation, continue education, research, and citizen engagement in a single chain. Knowledge of the landscape that combines works of nature and humankind and its bio-cultural diversity makes it possible to identify innovative informal education and new tourist itineraries where the real experience is presented as a cultural pilgrimage. The European project of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Programme RISE ‘Informal and non-Formal E-Learning for Cultural Heritage - xFORMAL’, currently halfway through its lifecycle, was born to create an informal way of accessing the cultural heritage of one's territory, revealing its past, history, and the civilisations that preceded us. After two years of closure due to the pandemic, this project reintroduced an authentic experience through gamification, a contact with landscapes, museums, and archaeological sites with physical, social, and cultural dimensions of their environments across space and over time. Building upon this foundation, the article delves into the intricate design and architectural principles that underpin the creation of the xFORMAL game, showcasing it as a paradigm of informal learning. This exploration includes a detailed analysis of the game's innovative design elements, educational strategies, and its role in facilitating an engaging and immersive learning experience outside traditional educational settings.

Education 4.0 uses digital technologies, innovative methodologies, and learning spaces to improve the quality of education. It reflects the changes brought about by the fourth industrial revolution and aims to develop skills relevant to current and future technology scenarios. The transformation of education to Education 4.0 presents challenges and opportunities, and requires the collaborative participation of industry, governments, universities, and society. This work aims to synthesize concepts of Education 4.0, and identify the innovative technologies, key competencies, learning approaches, trend topics, and how it is being applied in engineering education. A scoping review was conducted following the PRISMA statement. The Scopus and Web of Science databases were used in the review. Bibliometric tools in R Studio and VOSviewer software were employed to summarize the bibliometric data and analyze the results. Bibliometric analysis of the 528 selected documents revealed a significant growth in publications from 2017 to September 2023. Nearly half of the selected literature originated from conference proceedings, and 42.6% of the selected papers have not yet been cited. Moreover, five research clusters were identified from the select publications related to studying Education 4.0 in higher education, specifically engineering education: concept, competency-based learning, specific technologies applied to education, learning system, and competency-based learning. The use of Industry 4.0 technology, such as Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, and Virtual Labs, combined with active learning teaching methodologies, such as gamification and blended learning, has been identified as points of convergence and trending research topics within Education 4.0.

AbstractSociety 5.0 is a transformative vision for the future driven by integrating digital technologies and human-centered approaches, fusing with cyber-physical spaces to create a smart society that addresses megatrends through innovative and collaborative solutions by stakeholders. This article analyzes Maturity Models (MMs) in Higher Education to identify the components of Education 4.0 that aim to achieve Society 5.0, seeking the dimensions and levels associated with the quintuple helix and the mission of the HEIs. We conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) guided by research questions to highlight studies that address Maturity Models worldwide, identify components of Education 4.0 in the MM, research methods and instruments used, internal and external stakeholders, and some characteristics of the university missions. The study method employed was a Systematic Review analyzing 26 articles from 2018 to 2023 found in WoS and Scopus databases using inclusion and exclusion criteria under a Prisma workflow. The findings were that the HEIs must: a) analyze dimensions of various Education 4.0 components in a balanced way, b) incorporate comparative designs and mixed methods of the MM models, c) provide technology transfer services, training, and data centers, d) provide fully open environments to educate all citizens inclusively, and e) use sustainable MMs for a significant difference in impact. This review offers educational leaders and policymakers the methodologies for measuring the Education 4.0 path to Society 5.0.

AbstractEnglish is globally recognized as the dominant language for communication, playing a vital role in various fields. With the increasing interconnectivity and automation of the 21st century, the demand for professional English communication skills has risen worldwide. Multimedia learning has become crucial for engaging and motivating learners, aligning with Education 4.0 principles. This study explores the potential of the Education 4.0 tool ELSA (English Language Speech Assistance) app, which utilizes AI and speech recognition to enhance professional English communication skills among Business school students. The research utilized a cross-sectional survey approach with purposive sampling targeting Business school students, with 206 participants. Over a four-week intervention period, the students were guided to explore the ELSA application as per the study plan. After the intervention, the students’ perceptions were gathered and analyzed using the statistical tool SPSS version 21. The study’s novelty lies in combining multimedia learning with the Education 4.0 tool ELSA to enhance Professional English Communication skills. Results indicate that multimedia learning and ELSA significantly improve communication skills, motivation, engagement and learning outcomes. Further research is needed to address limitations and expand these findings.

The collection and examination of student data, encompassing academic achievements, awards, and certifications, assume an essential function within the field of education as a means of showing students' capabilities. Nevertheless, it is crucial to note that regular paper-based records are vulnerable to both physical destruction and the act of fabrication, while standard databases can have security holes. Moreover, the process of manually gathering physical papers from centralized organizations is both laborious and complicated. To address the concerns above and foster sustainability in the field of education, this study first suggests using Scorechain. This innovative solution integrates blockchain technology into a comprehensive data-management system for managing all student-related data. Secondly, by utilizing the inherent security features of blockchain technology, Scorechain develops a stable multi-role hierarchy, increasing the integrity and reliability of data. This also facilitates the efficient transfer of information among various stakeholders, including parents, recruiters, and educational institutions, thus fostering transparency and accountability. Lastly, the Scorechain system facilitates collaboration and data exchange among universities inside a shared network. Scorechain was constructed using the Rust programming language and is based on the Substrate blockchain architecture. It underwent careful development, testing, and analysis to ensure operational efficiency. The feasibility and long-term viability of Scorechain in genuine educational contexts are highlighted as blockchain technology facilitates seamless integration into the education sector. A new generation of higher education institutions need spaces designed to support interaction, collaboration, flexibility, social engagement, and the use of technology to make the youth competent for Industry 4.0. The learning spaces of Education 4.0 in Architecture colleges are unexplored; whether they also need the same type of spaces as other higher education institutes for 21st century pedagogy, is yet to be determined. The aim of this research is to find out the change required in formal and informal learning spaces in architecture colleges with the new trend of learning and skills required in Architecture Education. The research methodology adopted here is the case study research approach, together with the tools of survey and interview. A comparative analysis of the learning spaces in four architectural institutions in north India is done on the basis of flexibility, integration of technology and interactive social spaces. A further survey of 150 students and 75 teachers, were conducted to understand the preference of types of learning spaces of the users. The conclusion specifies that there is an equal need for both formal and informal learning spaces to enhance the learning of the students, and changes are required in the formal and informal learning spaces to incorporate these three factors of flexibility, integration of technology, and interactive social spaces for empowering youth with skills for fourth Industrial Revolution. Digitalization changes the values and spheres of the existing industries. Technological achievements caused by the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) are developing incredibly fast, changing the image of our life, work and functioning of society as a whole. Artificial intelligence, robotics, Big Data and Internet of things in aggregate affect the labor market and the economy as a whole. Future employees should be well trained not only in new technologies, but, which is equally important, but in values related to the use of these technologies and should have such qualities as creativity, flexibility and adaptability.In order to take full advantage of the opportunities opened by advanced technologies, a similar revolution in education is needed for the successful training of specialists with new necessary competencies. It is these factors that determine the relevance of the research. As a result of the digital evolution, a new educational model Education 4.0 has appeared, which has been developed in response to Industry 4.0. The problem of the research is to disclose actual aspects of the implementation of Education 4.0 approach. For the successful implementation of the new model a clear understanding of the features of Education 4.0 is needed, its main characteristics, in addition, the adaptation of the practice of teaching to the changed requirements is needed. The aim of the research is to study the features of the new approach to learning, Education 4.0, and analyze its main characteristics. The research methods used are analysis, synthesis, induction, abstraction. The research results: approaches to modern education in the light of Industry 4.0 have been considered, the characteristics of Education 4.0 have been analyzed, such as learning personalization, expanding distance learning capabilities, many educational instruments, project training, simple and accurate estimation, availability of analytical data, mentoring, field experience), Possible ways of forming new competencies and skills in the learning process have been proposed. The key findings: for the successful implementation of Education 4.0 approach in terms of Industry 4.0, it is necessary to change the practice of teaching in accordance with the new requirements for the formation of competencies, the article defines the possible ways of forming such skills as global skills, innovation and creativity skills, technological skills and interpersonal communications kills, which are basic ones in Education 4.0.

The digital transformation associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution is having an impact on the way we teach. Under the term Education 4.0, new teaching methods, new technologies, as well as a student-centered approach, are expected to be used in teaching. One established method of teaching is the use of Serious Games, as it has various positive effects in terms of motivation and engagement. This paper deals with the question of how the transformation towards Education 4.0 influences the way Serious Games are designed and used in the context of higher education. To this end, a systematized literature review was conducted. Out of 550 publications, 28 were included. This revealed works on the general conception as well as studies on Serious Games in various areas of university teaching. The results show different concepts of Serious Games, with the structure often being adapted to learning content and not to students. In terms of technical implementation, Serious Games are mostly web- or desktop-applications instead of new technologies such as VR. As a result, new concepts seem necessary to adapt Serious Games to Education 4.0. In the future, we want to design Serious Games that respond flexibly to students’ needs and make it easy to integrate new technologies.

The rapidly changing reality, which has been influenced by the development of technology and the industrial revolution since the nineteenth century, has largely weakened the teaching profession and the form and type of professional certification. This weakening also devaluates the idea of citizenship, which is largely conveyed during the education process. Contemporary education (4.0) is focused on practical education, where the space for shaping attitudes and creating behaviour patterns is marginalised. The relationship between education and industry related to socialisation and culture-forming processes is part of the development of individuals in societies and part of a broader formal development plan for different types of state and national organisations. The processes of systemic changes in education do not always keep up with the changing social, political and economic situation. The authors of this article indicate how the teacher education process looked in the past, through a sociohistorical approach based on the understanding of what teachers think about the meaning of digital learning in everyday school life and work. In order to do this, it was necessary to undertake an investigation from the perspective of the teachers themselves. This was helpful for the analysis of the semantic and ideological imperfection of education 4.0, based on the role of teaching staff in digital citizenship education.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an integral part in educational programs across the globe. Despite its prominent benefits in education perceived by most educators and administrators, key challenges to ICT adoption in educational management still exist. This study aims to review international experiences in applying ICT in educational administration and related policies in Vietnam. The research results show that while perceptions of the importance of ICT application in educational administration are diverse, ICT application has significant impacts on educational administration. Moreover, ICT application is effective in educational management in both general and higher education. The study also identifies several challenges affecting ICT application. Additionally, policies in ICT application in educational administration in Vietnam are discussed. In conclusion, the research proposes several recommendations to have effective policies on the application of ICT in Vietnamese educational administration.

Reviewing various papers and publications in the field demonstrates that future curricula must take into account not only students’ academic abilities but also practical skills and the ability to work in a group, as well as critical and creative thinking. A teacher must have a variety of skills. Aside from continuous education, one must also have certain transferable skills, such as globalization ability, expertise in new technologies and their applications, and future strategies and competency not only of professors but also of advisors. Education 4.0 provides all of this. Other aspects of life, such as health, have also been transformed by Industry 4.0. Healthcare delivery, like manufacturing, is changing and becoming smarter and more connected to healthcare, which we call Health Care 4.0 [2]. The definition of Industry 4.0 is the integration of physical and digital technologies. As seen above, 5G connectivity is critical to Industry 4.0. This is particularly evident in the rise in sales of automatic robots, wearable devices, and VR headsets, which have risen dramatically as a result of combining virtual reality with real-life, real-time production and where high data transfer speeds are required, such as remotely controlled production. To manage automatic robots and processes in Industry 4.0, a 5G network in conjunction with IOT is required. It will be impossible to participate in the technological development of production, health needs, and the new education system without the technologies mentioned in the paper. Many university students have doubts about how or where to start writing their undergraduate thesis work; it is common not to be clear how to identify a research problem or even towards which topic their research is oriented, and there are doubts about how to process and systematize so much information available in the era of digitalization. This article presents learning strategies to formulate a research thesis for engineering undergraduate programs, with an emphasis on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) toward a University Education 4.0 paradigm. The main themes and issues discussed in this article, carried out through learning strategies for students based on the scientific method, are the following: (i) Recommendations for choosing a research topic, (ii) Guidelines for problem identification and question research, (iii) Suggestions for choosing a thesis advisor, (iv) Instructions for finding suitable sources of information, (v) Structure of the table of contents for writing the thesis manuscript, and (vi) Indications for preparing an oral defense of thesis research. This article highlights recommendations and precautions directed towards professors and students with the use of the chatbot-type artificial intelligence (AI) tool called ChatGPT for the formulation of the thesis under a responsible conduct approach in research. This article concludes that the application of tutoring/guidance strategies between professors and students requires an adequate ethical use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) during the development of a research thesis to generate a comprehensive educational environment that encourages research and develops a sustainable learning process in the context of the University Education 4.0 paradigm. Education 4.0 and its applications such as web-based virtual reality (WebVR) can be useful to strengthen student learning, as the use of this technology in teaching allows participation in simulated reality scenarios that strengthen interaction and the development of communication and collaboration skills. In this study, both acceptance and the academic performance of 258 students who participated in a learning experience around components of computational thinking were evaluated through the implementation of a knowledge rally that was designed in a three-dimensional virtual world. The study considered an experimental group and a control group. The results indicate that there is a high level of acceptance to adopt virtual scenarios as a space for learning, and that the academic performance of the students showed an improvement when it was generated in the application of simulated reality. However, there are opportunities that need to be resolved to successfully implement these experiences, such as access to computers with high processing capacity and the development of digital skills for both teachers and students. In the article, the authors analyze the basic concepts of Education 4.0 and determine that it is characterized by the digital transformation of industry and the introduction of advanced technologies. It is established that Education 4.0 is a new approach to learning based on the use of advanced technologies, interactivity and individualization of the learning process. It is noted that the Concept of Education 4.0 provides for a change in the basic principles of the educational process: the formation of a set of competencies rather than a set of knowledge; continuous improvement of teaching methods through the active introduction of modern technologies; teacher and student become partners who jointly carry out research activities The authors describe the features of the implementation of Education 4.0 in Poland, Ukraine and Romania, and provide an overview of the achievements and challenges facing Education 4.0 in the modern world. In the article, the authors explore the challenges that accompany the implementation of this concept, such as increasing the competence of teachers, educators and research and teaching staff; creating technological infrastructure; issues of technological support, and others. In the course of the study, a survey was conducted at the All-Ukrainian Conference "Innovations, Trends" in 2023. A total of 55 respondents aged 25-68 took part in the survey. It is noted that encouraging a country to implement Education 4.0 is important for its competitiveness and development in the face of rapidly changing technologies. English is globally recognized as the dominant language for communication, playing a vital role in various fields. With the increasing interconnectivity and automation of the 21st century, the demand for professional English communication skills has risen worldwide. Multimedia learning has become crucial for engaging and motivating learners, aligning with Education 4.0 principles. This study explores the potential of the Education 4.0 tool ELSA (English Language Speech Assistance) app, which utilizes AI and speech recognition to enhance professional English communication skills among Business school students. The research utilized a cross-sectional survey approach with purposive sampling targeting Business school students, with 206 participants. Over a four-week intervention period, the students were guided to explore the ELSA application as per the study plan. After the intervention, the students' perceptions were gathered and analyzed using the statistical tool SPSS version 21. The study's novelty lies in combining multimedia learning with the Education 4.0 tool ELSA to enhance Professional English Communication skills. Results indicate that multimedia learning and ELSA significantly improve communication skills, motivation, engagement and learning outcomes.
