Abstract

A cross section of the process e+e−→KS0K±π∓π+π− has been measured for the first time using a data sample of 185.4 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. With the KS0→π+π− decay detection, 373±20 and 514±28 signal events have been selected with six and five reconstructed tracks, respectively, in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6–2.0 GeV. The total systematic uncertainty of the cross section is about 15%. A study of the production dynamics allows us to extract a contribution from the e+e−→f1(1285)π+π− intermediate state and to measure the corresponding cross section. The intermediate states with the f1(1420) and f1(1510) resonances have been observed.

Abstract

A study of hadron production at the nucleon-antinucleon threshold has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. The very fast rise with about 1 MeV width has been observed in the e+e−→pp¯ cross section. A sharp drop in the e+e−→3(π+π−) cross section has been confirmed and found to have a less than 2 MeV width, in agreement with the observed fast rise of the e+e−→pp¯ cross section. For the first time a similar sharp drop is demonstrated in the e+e−→K+K−π+π− cross section. The behavior of the e+e−→3(π+π−),K+K−π+π− cross sections cannot be explained by an interference of any resonance amplitude with continuum, therefore this phenomenon cannot be due to a narrow near-threshold resonance. No such structure has been observed in the e+e−→2(π+π−) cross section.

Abstract

A study of dynamics of seven-pion production allows one to extract contributions of the dominated 2(π+π−)ω and 2(π+π−)η intermediate states.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e−→KS0KS0π+π− has been measured using a data sample of 56.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. 596±27 and 210±18 signal events have been selected with six and five detected tracks, respectively, in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6–2.0 GeV. The total systematic uncertainty of the cross section is about 10%. The study of the production dynamics confirms the dominance of the K⁎(892)+K⁎(892)− intermediate state.

Abstract

Based on a sample of 300 million KS mesons produced in ϕ→KLKS decays recorded by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE e+e− collider we have measured the branching fraction for the decay KS→πμν. The KS mesons are identified by the interaction of KL mesons in the detector. The KS→πμν decays are selected by a boosted decision tree built with kinematic variables and by a time-of-flight measurement. Signal efficiencies are evaluated with data control samples of KL→πμν decays. A fit to the reconstructed muon mass distribution finds 7223±180 signal events. Normalising to the KS→π+π− decay events the result for the branching fraction is B(KS→πμν)=(4.56±0.11stat±0.17syst)×10−4. It is the first measurement of this decay mode and the result allows an independent determination of |Vus| and a test of the lepton-flavour universality. Abstract

We searched for the μ+μ− decay of a light vector gauge boson, also known as dark photon, in the e+e−→μ+μ−γISR process by means of the Initial State Radiation (ISR) method. We used 1.93 fb−1 of data collected by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE ϕ-factory. No structures have been observed over the irreducible μ+μ− background. A 90% CL limit on the ratio ε2=α′/α between the dark coupling constant and the fine structure constant of 3×10−6–2×10−7 has been set in the dark photon mass region between 519 MeV and 973 MeV. This new limit has been combined with the published result obtained investigating the hypothesis of the dark photon decaying into hadrons in e+e−→π+π−γISR events. The combined 90% CL limit increases the sensitivity especially in the ρ–ω interference region and excludes ε2 greater than (13−2)×10−7. For dark photon masses greater than 600 MeV the combined limit is lower than 8 ×10−7 resulting more stringent than present constraints from other experiments. Abstract

The process e+e−→K+K− has been studied using 1.7×106 events from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in the center-of-mass energy range 1010–1060 MeV. The cross section is measured with about 2% systematic uncertainty and is used to calculate the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon aμK+K−=(19.33±0.40)×10−10, and to obtain the ϕ(1020) meson parameters. We consider the relationship between the e+e−→K+K− and e+e−→KS0KL0 cross sections and compare it to the theoretical prediction.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e−→π+π−π0η has been measured using a data sample of 21.8 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. 2769±95 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1394–2005 MeV. The production dynamics is dominated by the ω(782)η and ϕ(1020)η intermediate states in the lower energy range, and by the a0(980)ρ(770) intermediate state at higher energies.

Abstract

A cross section of the process e+e−→π+π−π+π− has been measured using 6798±93 signal events from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9.8 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in the center-of-mass energy range 920–1060 MeV. The measured cross section exhibits a pattern of interference of the ϕ(1020)→π+π−π+π− decay with a non-resonant process e+e−→π+π−π+π−, from which we obtain the branching fraction of the doubly suppressed decays (by G-parity and OZI rule): B(ϕ→π+π−π+π−)=(6.5±2.7±1.6)×10−6.

Abstract

The process e+e−→K+K−η has been studied in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.59 to 2.007 GeV using the data sample of 59.5 pb−1, collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider in 2011, 2012 and 2017. The K+K−η final state is found to be dominated by the contribution of the ϕ(1020)η intermediate state. The cross section of the process e+e−→ϕ(1020)η has been measured with a systematic uncertainty of 5.1% on the base of 3009 ± 67 selected events. Abstract

The e+e−→KS0KL0 cross section has been measured in the center-of-mass energy range 1004–1060 MeV at 25 energy points using 6.1×105 events with KS0→π+π− decay. The analysis is based on 5.9 pb−1 of an integrated luminosity collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. To obtain ϕ(1020) meson parameters the measured cross section is approximated according to the Vector Meson Dominance model as a sum of the ρ,ω,ϕ-like amplitudes and their excitations. This is the most precise measurement of the e+e−→KS0KL0 cross section with a 1.8% systematic uncertainty.

Abstract

Using a data sample of 7.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider we select about 2900 events of the process e+e−→pp¯ and measure its cross section at 12 energy points with about 6% systematic uncertainty. From the angular distribution of produced nucleons we obtain the ratio GE/GM.

Abstract

The process e+e−→K+K−π+π− has been studied in the center-of-mass energy range from 1500 to 2000 MeV using a data sample of 23 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. Using about 24 000 selected events, the e+e−→K+K−π+π− cross section has been measured with a systematic uncertainty decreasing from 11.7% at 1500–1600 MeV to 6.1% above 1800 MeV. A preliminary study of K+K−π+π− production dynamics has been performed.

Abstract

Based on an integrated luminosity of 1.61 fb$^{-1}$ $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the KLOE detector at DA$\Phi$NE, the Frascati $\phi$-factory, a search for the $P$- and $CP$-violating decay $\eta\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ has been performed. Radiative $\phi\to\eta\gamma$ decay is exploited to access the $\eta$ mesons. No signal is observed in the $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum, and the upper limit on the branching fraction at 90\% confidence level is determined to be ${\mathcal B}(\eta\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}), Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures

Abstract

A study of hadron production at the nucleon-antinucleon threshold has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. A very fast rise with about 1 MeV width has been observed in the $e^+e^- \to p\bar p$ cross section. A sharp drop in the $e^+e^- \to 3(\pi^+\pi^-)$ cross section has been confirmed and found to have a less than 2 MeV width, in agreement with the observed fast rise of the $e^+e^- \to p\bar p$ cross section. For the first time a similar sharp drop is demonstrated in the $e^+e^- \to K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-$ cross section. The behavior of the $e^+e^- \to 3(\pi^+\pi^-),~ K^+K^-\pi^+\pi^-$ cross sections cannot be explained by an interference of any resonance amplitude with continuum, therefore this phenomenon cannot be due to a narrow near-threshold resonance. No such structure has been observed in the $e^+e^- \to 2(\pi^+\pi^-)$ cross section., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

Based on a sample of 300 million KS mesons produced in ϕ→KLKS decays recorded by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE e+e− collider we have measured the branching fraction for the decay KS→πμν. The KS mesons are identified by the interaction of KL mesons in the detector. The KS→πμν decays are selected by a boosted decision tree built with kinematic variables and by a time-of-flight measurement. Signal efficiencies are evaluated with data control samples of KL→πμν decays. A fit to the reconstructed muon mass distribution finds 7223±180 signal events. Normalising to the KS→π+π− decay events the result for the branching fraction is B(KS→πμν)=(4.56±0.11stat±0.17syst)×10−4. It is the first measurement of this decay mode and the result allows an independent determination of |Vus| and a test of the lepton-flavour universality.

Abstract

The paper describes a method of the charged particle identification, developed for the CMD-3 detector, installed at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider. The method is based on application of boosted decision trees classifiers, trained for the optimal separation of electrons, muons , pions and kaons in the momentum range from 100 to 1200 MeV / c . The input variables for the classifiers are linear combinations of the energy depositions of charged particles in 12 layers of the liquid xenon calorimeter of the CMD-3. The event samples for training of the classifiers are taken from the simulation. Various issues of the calorimeter strip channels response simulation and their calibration are considered. Application of the method is illustrated by the examples of separation of the e + e − ( γ ) and π + π − ( γ ) final states and of selection of the K + K − final state at high energies.

The cross section of the process $e^+e^- \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^0\eta$ has been measured using a data sample of 21.8 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. 2769$\pm$95 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1394--2005 MeV. Abstract

High-intensity secondary beams play a vital role in today's particle physics and materials science research and require suitable detection techniques to adjust beam characteristics to optimally match experimental conditions. To this end we have developed a non-invasive, ultra-thin, CsI(Tl) luminophore foil detector system, based on CCD-imaging. We have used this to quantify the beam characteristics of an intensity-frontier surface muon beam used for next-generation charged lepton-flavour violation (cLFV) search experiments at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) and to assess the possible use for a future High-intensity Muon Beam (HiMB-project), currently under study at PSI. Abstract

Precise study of the hadrons production in \bm{e^+e^-}𝐞+𝐞− annihilation at low energies provides important information about interactions of light quarks and spectroscopy of their bound states. These studies are especially important for theoretical calculations of the muon \bm{(g-2)}(𝐠−2) via the Standard Model because of the present difference between theoretical and experimental values exceeds three standard deviations. In this report we will discuss current status and recent results obtained by the CMD-3 experiment and will give a brief look to status of the BaBar and Belle II experiments.

Abstract

The data sample collected in 2011-2013 at the c.m.s. energies between 0.32-2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector operating at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider is analzed. The collected data corresponds to an integrated luminosity about ∼ 60pb−1. The techniques for determination of the integrated luminosity for each energy setting is described. Some preliminary results of the study of the processes e+e−→ K+ K− + nπ (n = 1,2,3) with two charged kaons in the final state are presented. These processes have several intermediate states, which are important to correctly descript the angular distributions of final particles and the cross sections dependence on the energy.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+e−→ π+π−π+π− has been measured using an integrated luminosity of 17 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in the center-of-mass energy range 650-1000 MeV. High-precision measurements of various hadronic cross sections are of great interest in relation with the problem of the muon anomalous magnetic moment g-2. This measurement can be also used to test the relation between the cross section of e+e−→ π+ π−π+ π− and the spectral function for the τ−→ π−π0π0π0 decay predicted by the conservation of vector current (CVC).

Abstract

We report the results on the channels e+e−→ π+π−π0π0π0(η), e+e−→ π+π−η. Also we present the study of the two-photon process e+e−→ e+e−η' in the double-tag mode. The results for the form factor are compared with the predictions based on pQCD and VMD. The results are obtained by using the full data set of about 470 fb−1 collected by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e+e−collider at a center-of-mass energy of about 10.6 GeV.

Abstract

A brief review of the recent results on the hadronic cross section measurements with the CMD-3 detector at the e+e− collider VEPP-2000 is given. Focus is made on the processes with charged kaons in multihadron events, which have a strong impact on strange meson spectroscopy and form factors that are important ingredients in the Dalitz plot analysis. Experimental data relevant to the topic are presented from the broad energy range covered by VEPP-2000 and compared to earlier measurements by the different collaborations. The analysis is based on the integrated luminosity of about 100 pb−1 collected in 2011, 2012 and 2017.

Abstract

The CMD-3 detector is installed at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider at BINP (Novosibirsk, Russia). It is a general-purpose detector, equipped with a tracking system, two crystal (CSI and BGO) calorimeters, liquid Xe calorimeter, TOF and muon systems. The main goal of experiments at CMD-3 is a study of exclusive modes of e+e−→ hadrons at energies $ \sqrt s \le $ GeV. In particular, these results provide an important input for calculation of the hadronic contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. The first round of data taking was performed in 2011–2013, when about 60 1/pb were taken in the center-of-mass (c.m.) energy range from 0.32 to 2.0 GeV. Here we present a survey of results of data analysis. Between 2013 and 2016 the collider and the detector were upgraded. The data taking resumed by the end of 2016. In the first run after the upgrade about 50 1/pb were collected at the energy range between 1.28 and 2.007 GeV. We discuss the upgrade and the first preliminary results from the new data.

Abstract

A study of hadron production at the nucleon-antinucleon threshold has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e− collider. A very fast rise with an about 1 MeV width has been observed in the e+e−→ pp̅ cross section. A sharp drop in the e+ e−→ 3(π+π−) cross section has been con?rmed and found to have a width of less than 2 MeV, in agreement with the observed fast rise of the e+e−→ pp̅ cross section. For the ?rst time a similar sharp drop is demonstrated in the e+e−→ K+ K−π+π− cross section. The behavior of the e+e−→ 3(π+ π−), K+ K−π+π− cross sections cannot be explained by an interference of any resonance amplitude with continuum, therefore this phenomenon cannot be due to a narrow near-threshold resonance. No such structure has been observed in the e+e−→ 2(π+π−) cross section.

Abstract

Using a data sample of 7.7 pb − 1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider we select about 2900 events of the process e + e − → p p ¯ and measure its cross section at 12 energy points with about 6% systematic uncertainty. From the angular distribution of produced nucleons we obtain the ratio G E / G M .

Abstract

High spatial resolution thin CsI:Tl scintillator films was prepared by thermal deposition method for X-ray imaging applications. We fabricated CsI:Tl scintillators ranging from 2 μm to 14 μm in thickness. We measured spacial resolution and light yield as a function of input photons energy (5-40 keV) and film thickness. To improve spatial resolution of films carbon post-deposition treatments was performed.

Abstract

The CMD-3 detector started data taking at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 in December 2010 with a goal to collect about 1 fb−1. The collected data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 200 pb−1 in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.32 up to 2 GeV. This paper reports recent results on the hadronic cross sections measurements with the CMD-3 detector.

Abstract

The process e + e − → K + K − has been studied using 1.7 × 10 6 events from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.7 pb −1 collected with the CMD-3 detector in the center-of-mass energy range 1010–1060 MeV. The cross section is measured with about 2% systematic uncertainty and is used to calculate the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon a μ K + K − = ( 19.33 ± 0.40 ) × 10 − 10 , and to obtain the ϕ ( 1020 ) meson parameters. We consider the relationship between the e + e − → K + K − and e + e − → K S 0 K L 0 cross sections and compare it to the theoretical prediction.

Abstract

We searched for the $\mu^+\mu^-$ decay of a light vector gauge boson, also known as dark photon, in the $e^+ e^- \to \mu^+ \mu^- \gamma_{\rm ISR}$ process by means of the Initial State Radiation (ISR) method. We used 1.93~fb$^{-1}$ of data collected by the KLOE experiment at the DA$\Phi$NE $\phi$-factory. No structures have been observed over the irreducible $\mu^+ \mu^-$ background. A 90\% CL limit on the ratio $\varepsilon^2=\alpha^{\prime}/\alpha$ between the dark coupling constant and the fine structure constant of $ 3\times 10^{-6}-2\times 10^{-7}$ has been set in the dark photon mass region between 519 MeV and 973 MeV. This new limit has been combined with the published result obtained investigating the hypothesis of the dark photon decaying into hadrons in $e^+ e^- \to \pi^+ \pi^- \gamma_{\rm ISR}$ events. The combined 90\% CL limit increases the sensitivity especially in the $\rho-\omega$ interference region and excludes $\varepsilon^2$ greater than $(13-2)\times 10^{-7}$. For dark photon masses greater than 600 MeV the combined limit is lower than 8~$\times\, 10^{-7}$ resulting more stringent than present constraints from other experiments., Comment: 7 pages, 9 figures, 1 table, accepted for publication in Physics Letters B

Abstract

Since December 2010 the CMD-3 and SND detectors detectors collect data at the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider. In 2013-2015 the injection facility of the collider has undergone an upgrade of the injection system. The new BINP injection complex has been connected to the VEPP-2000 collider, so the restrictions connected to the lack of positrons and limited beam energy transfer do not apply any more. The collider luminosity in whole energy range is restricted now only by beam-beam effects. VEPP-2000 collider started to collect data with two detectors at 2016 year. The collected data sample since 2010 corresponds more than 100 pb-1 of integrated luminosity per detector in the c.m. energy between 0.32 and 2GeV. We will report here results of analysis of various hadronic cross sections from detectors both published and preliminary. These measurements are important by themselves and also because of the implications for anomaly of the magnetic moment of a muon (g-2) discrepancy.

Abstract

A search for the process e + e − → η ′ ( 958 ) in the π + π − η → π + π − γ γ final state has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider. Using an integrated luminosity of 2.69 pb − 1 collected at the center-of-mass energy E c.m. = 957.68 MeV we set an upper limit for the product of electronic width and branching fractions Γ η ′ ( 958 ) → e + e − ⋅ B η ′ ( 958 ) → π + π − η ⋅ B η → γ γ 0.00041 eV at 90% C.L.

Abstract

The CMD-3 detector is taking data at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider (Budker INP, Novosibirsk, Russia). The main goal of experiments with CMD-3 is the measurement of the cross-sections and dynamics of the exclusive modes of $e^+e^- \to hadrons$ reactions. In particular, these results provide important input for calculation of the hadronic contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. First round of data taking with the CMD-3 detector was performed in 2011-2013 with about 60 1/pb integrated luminosity in the energy range from 0.32 to 2.0 GeV in center-of-mass. Amount of collected data exceeds all previous experiments. Here we present the survey of results of data taken in 2011-2013, including precise measurement of $e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-$ reaction, as well as other hadron final states with up to 6 pions or states include 2 kaons. At the end of 2016 the VEPP-2000 collider resumed operations after upgrade of the injection system, and performance approaching to the project luminosity of $10^{32}\ cm^{-2}s^{-1}$ at 2 GeV has been demonstrated. First preliminary results of new 2017 run are also presented.

Abstract

The CMD-3 detector has been successfully collecting data at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 since December 2010. The first scan below 1 GeV for a π+π− measurement was performed in 2013. The collected data sample corresponds to about 18 pb−1 of integrated luminosity in this energy range. Analysis of the e+e−→ π+π− cross section is in progress. Status of this measurement are presented.

Abstract

The CMD-3 detector started data taking at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 [1] in December 2010. The collected data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 87 pb−1 in the c.m. energy range from 1.06 up to 2 GeV and 91 pb−1 from 0.32 to 1.06 GeV. The integrated luminosity was measured by counting e+e−→ e+e− and e+e−→ γγ events, allowing additional photons in the final state. Preliminary results of the luminosity measurement are presented for various energy ranges and its accuracy is estimated to be 1%.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e+ e−→ KS KL π0 has been studied with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.1 to 2 GeV. Preliminary results on the total cross section of the process are presented.

Abstract

A search for the process e+e−→ D*0(2007) has been performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e+e−-collider. Two main decay modes of the D*0(2007) decay, D0π0 and D0γ, followed by D0 → K+π−π+π−are used in this analysis. With an integrated luminosity of 3.7 pb−1 collected at the center-of-mass energy Ec.m. =2006.62 MeV our preliminary upper limit is BD*0→e+ e− −6 at 90%C.L.

Abstract

A large data sample of e+e-→ 4π collected by the CMD-3 experiment at the VEPP-2000 e+ e− collider allowed for an amplitude analysis of the process e+e−→ 4π in the center-of-mass energy range 900–2000 MeV. Various intermediate components were distinguished and dominance of the ωπ0 and a1π amplitudes has been proved.

Abstract

The cross section of the process e + e − → 3 ( π + π − ) π 0 has been measured for the first time using a data sample of 56.7 pb−1 collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 e + e − collider. 632±32 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6–2.0 GeV. A study of dynamics of seven-pion production allows one to extract contributions of the dominated 2 ( π + π − ) ω and 2 ( π + π − ) η intermediate states.

Abstract

Since December 2010, the CMD-3 detector has collected data at the electronpositron collider VEPP-2000. The sample of the accumulated data corresponds to about 60 pb −1 of integrated luminosity in the c.m. energy from 0.32 up to 2 GeV. Preliminary results of the analysis of various processes e + e − annihilation to hadrons are presented. It is shown the processes with multihadron events have several intermediate states which must be taken into account to correctly describe the angular and invariant mass distributions as well as cross section dependence versus energy.

Abstract

Experiments with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000 started in 2010. CMD-3 is a general purpose detector designed to study e+e− annihilation into hadrons in the center-of-mass (c.m.) energy range from 0.3 up to2 GeV. The cross section of the process e+e− → K+ K−π+π− has been measured using 23 pb−1 of integrated luminosity collected in the c.m. energy range 1.5 – 2.0 GeV.

Abstract

Regular operation of the VEPP-2000 electron-positron collider started at the end of 2010 and about 60 pb −1 were collected so far by the CMD-3 detector in the whole available c.m. energy range from 0.32 GeV to 2.0 GeV. One of the main goals of the experiments at VEPP-2000 is a sub-percent measurement of the e + e − → π + π − cross-section. Here we present the overview of the data analysis techniques and the preliminary results of this measurement.

Abstract

We report preliminary results on the measurement of the cross sections of the processes e + e − → K + K − π + π − and e + e − → φη in the c.m.energy range from 1.5 GeV to 2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector. The cross sections of these processes agree with BaBar results and have better accuracy.
