Abstract Contamination material from fish market activities, namely fish handling liquid waste, is a problem facing the city of Medan today. Reduce the level of liquid waste pollutants can be done biologically by using microalgae organisms. One of them is like microalgae Spirulina sp. This study aims to determine the ability of Spirulina sp. for reducing the levels of pollutants in liquid waste of handling fish.There search method was use a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. Addition of 100 mL of inoculant Spirulina sp. with a density of 1x10 5 ind/mL of liquid waste mixed with fresh water with to reach a volume of 1000 mL. Each liquid waste concentration of 30%, 60%, 80%, 100%, and control (0%) added 1 mL Walne fertilizer. The results of initial measurements of liquid waste for parameters BOD, COD, TSS, ammonia, and phosphate, respectively are 26.50mg/L, 4400mg/L, 894mg/L, 1.10mg/L, and 16.7 mg/L. Based on the results, the best reduction in BOD level occured in the treatment of 30% (pA) of liquid waste is 17.64 mg/L with phytoremediation efficiency of 75.59%. The best reduction in COD levels occurred in the treatment of 30% (pA) of liquid waste is 1301.12 mg/L with phytoremediation efficiency of 79.19%. The best reduction in TSS levels occurred in the treatment of 60% (pB) of liquid waste is 411 mg/L with phytoremediation efficiency of 83.54%. The best reduction in ammonia levels was at 30% (pA) treatment, which was 0.38 mg/L with phytoremediation efficiency of 89.15%. While the best decrease in phosphate levels occurred in the control treatment (pK), which was 4.45 mg/L with phytoremediation efficiency of 97.35%.

Skipjack tuna Katsuwonus pelamis is one of the commercial species of fishes in Indonesia frequently caught by fishermen in Sibolga waters, North Sumatra Province. There is, however, presently no study conducted on the endoparasites infestation in these fishes. Therefore, the objectives of the present study were to identify endoparasitic worms and examine the intensity level in skipjack tuna K. pelamis from Sibolga waters. Sampling was conducted in Debora Private Fishing Port, Sibolga from 4th to 18th June 2019 and a total of 20 fish samples with weight ranged between 740 g and 1.200 g and length from 37.2 cm to 41.4 cm were analyzed in the study. The identification of the worm was conducted in the laboratory using a stereo microscope. The results showed seven species or genera of worms were found in the intestine and stomach of the fish with varying level of intensity and incidence. For example, Echinorhynchus sp. was found with 100% intestinal and 10% stomach incidences at a total intensity of 8.5; Acanthocephalus sp. with 25% intestinal incidence and 1.6 intensity , Rhadinorhynchus sp. with 25% intestinal and 5% stomach incidences, and 1.5 intensity; Leptorhynchoides sp. with 25% intestinal incidences, and 1 intensity ; Neoechinorhynchus sp. with 25% intestinal incidences, and 1.4 intensity; Pomphorhynchus sp. with 10% intestinal incidence, and 1.5 intensity ; and Apororhynchus sp. with 10% intestinal incidences and 1 intensity. Echinorhynchus sp. was concluded to have the highest incidence and intensity.

Desrita, Hasugian FK, Yusni E, Manurung VR, Rambey R. 2021. Feeding habits of Tinfoil barb Barbonymus schwenenfeldii in the Tasik River, South Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 22: 2131-2135. Research on feeding habits of Tinfoil barb, Barbonymus schwanenfeldii was carried out in the Tasik River from July to August 2020. This study aims to determine the composition of foods consumed by Tinfoil barb fish, and the availability of natural food in the Tasik River from 3 sampling stations. Fishes were caught using a gillnet with a mesh size of 3.18 cm, then the fish samples were dissected, and the digestive tract was taken and preserved with 10% formalin. A total of 138 Tinfoil bars were caught for this study. Analysis of stomach contents found that Tinfoil barb ate phytoplankton (41-48%) as the primary food, moss (25-38%), plant pieces (13-17%), worms (2-11%) as a complementary food and few of insects (0-4%), zooplankton (0-1%) as other foods. Based on analysis of food item values, all types of food and ratio within the intestine length and the total length showed that Tinfoil Barb was classified as omnivorous. The availability of natural foods for Tinfoil Barb in the Tasik River consists of the genera Asteroinella, Bacillaria, Bidulphia, Cestom, Gyrosigma, Gonatozygon, Oscillatoria, and Thalassiora.

One of the efforts made to reduce the increase in CO2 is to use coastal vegetation such as macroalgae. This research was conducted in Poncan Gadang island, North Sumatera. The purpose of this research is to know the density and biomass of macroalgae Sargassum sp. and to estimate carbon storage in the macroalgae Sargassum sp. in the waters of Poncan Gadang island. The results showed that the biomass and carbon stores in Sargassum sp. are quite large and varied from 2.82 kg C m-2, 4.80 kg C m-2, and 4.63 kg C m-2 in every sampling point with an average of 4.08 kg C m-2. This means Sargassum sp. has the potential in mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration. Differences in the value of carbon stored in the biomass of Sargassum sp. are affected by biomass density and different carbon content at each sampling point due to environmental conditions.

Magrove crab S cylla s errata lives in coastal area of city is susceptible to contaminate by heavy metals. Local and regional market demands for bivalves increase outside Tanjung Balai City and Asahan District Waters, North Sumatra, Indonesia. As a result, high exploitation of bivalves occurred. In the other hand, there were less comprehensive information and studies on the diversity of bivalves in this area. This study aimed to determine the diversity of bivalves and water quality of Tanjung Balai Asahan Waters; was conducted between July 2016 and November 2017. Sampling of bivalves was conducted monthly. Several physical and chemical parameters were quantified. Data analysis included community structure analysis and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The result showed that there were 16 species of bivalves from 7 families in Tanjung Balai Asahan Waters. Station 2 had the highest composition of bivalves, while the lowest was noted at Station 1. The mean abundance of bivalves at stations 1, 2 and 3 were 352±22 ind/m2, 222±14 ind/m2 and 388±30,2 ind/m2, respectively. In general, the index of diversity was categorized as low to moderate. The evenness index was categorized as low to high, while the dominance index indicated the absence of dominant species at almost all stations except station 1. Water quality of the waters was still in capacity to support the life of bivalves. Based on PCA analysis, it was obtained that the abundance of bivalves was positively correlated with nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, salinity, and pH.

Sucker barb fish is one of the potential of fish resources in Tasik river. This study aimed to determine the morphometric and meristic characteristics of the growth of sucker barb fish in the Tasik River. The method used in this study is a survey method using the fishing net and gillnet with mesh size 1,5 inches. The nets are placed in the afternoon, then lifted in the morning. This is done 3 times with a span of 2 weeks in the three research stations. The number of samples collected were 135 fish. The morphometric characteristics of sucker barb fish are bodyweight (BT) ranging from 9-85 g, total length (PT) ranging from 100-230 mm, standard length (PS) ranging from 75-176 mm, head length (PK) of 20-42 mm, snout length (PM) of 30 mm, the height of dorsal fin (TSP) of 40 mm, length of the base of dorsal fin (PPSP) of 15-30 mm, eye diameter (DM) of 10 mm, caudal peduncle (TBE) of 8-22 mm, body height (TB) of 17-40 mm, pectoral fin length (PSD) of 30 mm and pelvic fin length (PSP) of 25 mm. Meristic characteristics are the characteristics of counting the scales and fins of sucker barb fish. The number of scales in the lateral lines (LL) is 35-38, the body coiled scales (SMB) are 6, the scales around the pectoral fin (PF) P 10-14, anal fin (AF) A 8 and caudal fin (CF) C 18. Domestic waste which has a high protein content has the potential to be bio-converted usingHermetia illucenslarvae which has 45-50% protein nutrition and 24-30% fat. So that it can be used as a source of high nutritious feed for fish, chickens and other livestock. This research studiedH. illucenslarvae, known as Black Soldier Fly (BSF) through the SiMalin process, USU’s Waste Management System through Urban Farming. The first step as an axus study is done by collecting garbage (vegetables and fruits) in each household in USU’s housing. by varying the feed rate of 150, 200, 250 mg / larva / day. The study was conducted for 21 day by analysing larvae weight, consuming the substrate and trying to feed fresh wet larvae to fish and chickens. The results of this study indicate that the waste is the most optimal way to produce larvae in this process is a mixture of fruit peels with a feed rate of 250 mg/larva/day or a total weight of 25.00 grams per feeding. BSF is an alternative to utilizing waste that is appropriate and environmentally friendly.

Morphometric characteristics of Signal barb fish Bodyweight (BW) ranges from 4-73 gr, Total Length (TL), Standard Length 6.3-15.5 mm (SL), Head Length (HL) 1.8-2.5, Snout Length (SL) 0.5, Dorsal Fin Height (DFH) 2.3, Dorsal Fin Length (DFL) 3-7, Eye Diameter (EM) 0.8, Tail Trunk Height (TTH) 0.8-1.8, Body Height (BH) 2-4.5, Pectoral Fin Length (PFL) 2 cm and Belly Fin Length (BFL) 2 cm. The meristic characteristics of Signal barb fish are the number of Linnea Literalis (LL) as many as 35-38 scale, 13 Circular Body Scales (CBS), 11-13 Front Fin Dorsal Scales (FFDS), the Scales Around the Tail (SAT) a total of 5, Dorsal Fin (DF) of DI. 23-26 fin radii, Ventral Fin (VF) of 9 fin radii, Pectoral Fin (PF) of 11-14, Anal Fin (AF) a total of 7 fin radii and a Caudal Fin (CF) a total of 20-22 fin radii. The growth pattern of signal barb fish in the Tasik River is negative allometric with the condition factor value an average value of 0.42

The Tilapia is hermaphrodite fish, and from larva they can changing of genital for examples male or female. Male tilapia has faster growth rate than female tilapia. Many technologies were produces genital of fish male dominant population. But to produces that genital were need to prepare for the diet, ones of that were give of the feeding. These results were used of the brahman testicles and mixed with commercial feed, the data were using by immersion method. The results were found value of male seen the larvae compared for the fry tilapia. To give that feed were used at the different time of immersion treatments. The time of immersion was separated to P1 (16 hours), P2 (32 hours), P3 (48 hours) and P0 as (control). The results were observed of male tilapia, body weight, length and water quality parameters. The results of immersion time shown of tilapia larvae very significant effect compared the female. The results were found from the age of 60 days, immersion time of P0 was observed with value of 52.83%, P1 o f85.71%, P2 of 74.49% and P3 was observed and value of 62.41%.

This study aims to determine of Chloramphenicol test for Vannamei shrimp conducted of ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method with 1 treatment. This method is done by adding the Abenzyme conjugate, and ends with the addition of the substrate and the reaction stop buffer. Each treatment was performed three times. The value of Chloramphenicol (CAP) of Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) which was tested at for 4 weeks with ranged from 0.021 to 0.153 ppb. This result showed for the value of Chloramphenicol (CAP) in shrimp is still in the standard CAP value specified.

Macroalgae or often referred to as seaweed is very abundant in Indonesian waters especially sea waters, including in Central Tapanuli. But it is unfortunate because not many people know about it, even though the seaweed has many benefits. This study aims to determine the amount of macroalgae cover and their diversity on one island in Central Tapanuli, namely Pane Island. This research was conducted from July to September 2019 in intertidal zone of Pane island with three observations, once a month. At the study site, three macroalgae classes were found consisting of six species, namely Sargassum crassifolium, Sargassum cristaefolium, Halimeda macroloba, Padina minor, Turbinaria decurrens and Hypnea pannosa. The highest macroalgae cover percent is occupied by Phaeophyta division and the lowest macroalgae cover percent is occupied by Rhodophyta division.

The water of Belawan Sea have a wealth of marine resources that are quite important to supporting the economy surrounding communities. This study aims to measure the content of heavy metals lead, Pb (sediment and white shrimp) and how much heavy metal of lead is accumulated by white shrimp (Penaeus merguiensis) from sediments. Lead, Pb of heavy metals in white shrimp and sediments were analyzed by using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that the average concentration of Pb heavy metals in sediments was found of 5,90-6,78 mg / kg, when the average concentration range of Pb heavy metals in white shrimp was found of 0,014-0,089 mg / kg, while the average accumulation of heavy metals Pb in white shrimp from sediments was found the value of 0,0075. The bioaccumulation value categorized was lower because the value was found below than 1. Penaeus merguiensis indicator of organisms can be used in measuring exposure to heavy metal Pb in water.

The process of maintaining existential, each of the species have a reproduction strategy. Reproduction of strategy is all the pattern and the identity of reproduction which is shown by each individual from a species including complex inherited traits. Especially for yellowstripe scad fish at Belawan aquatic, North Sumatera. This research conducted from March to May 2017. The sampling was taken three times with one-month interval. The location of the research divided into 3 stations with each respective characteristic. Fishing gear used during the research is nets and gill-nets. The gill-net are installed in the morning and removed in the afternoon. Management recommendation which is given for catch fish in size selection are spawned fish and catchable fish must pass the size of the first gonads maturity was found of 143 – 151 mm for female fish and 144 – 151 mm for male fish. If the fish which is gained bellow the first size of gonads maturity with GML is not yet mature gonads, then necessary increasing the size of the nets in the fishing gear used in Yellowstripe scad fish captured.

This research to knew heavy metal concentrate of copper (Cu) and lead (Pb) in the water and sediment. From this results showed indicated physics chemical parameter of Siombak Lake stilled in the normal range. The concentrations heavy metal copper (Cu) in the water column all the stations in sequence 0.525 mg/l, 0.54 mg/l, 0.51 mg/l and then the concentration heavy metal lead (Pb) in the water column 0.00165 mg/l, 0.0156 mg/l, 0.0148 mg/l. While heavy metal concentration of copper (Cu) in the sediment all the stations in sequence 2.68 mg/kg, 2.47 mg/kg and 21.54 mg/kg and then concentration of heavy metal lead (Pb) of 6.045 mg/kg, 7.17 mg/kg and 4.77 mg/kg. This result indicated the concentration of heavy metal copper and lead in the water column had exceeded the quality standard and concentration of copper and lead in sediment had not exceeded the quality standard.

The presence of heavy metals in the aquatic environment must be monitored for their presence. This study aims to determine the content of heavy metals cadmium (Cd) in water and mangrove crabs (Scylla olivacea). Water and crab samples were taken in June-July 2019. The Cd content in water has exceeded the quality standard of Kepmen LH of 2004, Cd content in crabs is still below the quality standard of BPOMRI of 2018. It can be concluded, that the content of heavy metal Cd in water has exceeded the quality standard and crabs are still below the quality standard.

Mangrove crabs (Scylla tranquebarica) are one of the fisheries commodities with high economic value. However, there are several obstacles in the process of developing crab culture, such as parasitic infections. The presence of parasites can reduce production in crab culture, one of which is the parasite Octolasmis sp. The purpose of this study was to identify Octolasmis parasites that infect mangrove crabs and knowing the prevalence rate of the parasite Octolasmis sp. on mangrove crabs in Lubuk Kertang, Langkat. This research used exploratory method, while the sampling technique used in sampling was the random sampling method. Crab identified as many as 15 crabs. The results showed that the type Octolasmis sp. identified to attack mangrove crabs in Lubuk Kertang, Langkat are Octolasmis cor and Octolasmis angulata. The prevalence rate of the Octolasmis parasite was based on the number of parasites found, the Octolasmis cor parasite is 93.3% and the number of O. angulata is 53.3%. Based on the prevalence and intensity of octolasmis found more octolasmis cor than octolasmis angulata.

The many industrial activities around Belawan waters do not rule out the possibility of producing solid and liquid waste that can cause water pollution. One of the most worrying pollution in Belawan waters at present is heavy metal pollution such as lead (Pb) which can accumulate in the flesh of laying fish (Decapterus ruselli). Layang fish (D. ruselli) is a popular fish that is often consumed by humans because it has a relatively affordable sale value for all economic groups of the community. This study aims to determine the average value of the heavy metal content of lead (Pb) contained in the layang fish meat (D. ruselli) and the level of consumption eligibility. The result of this study indicates the average value of lead (Pb) metal in layang fish (D. ruselli) in KUD Gabion Belawan, Medan City is 0.035-0.054 mg/kg. Overall, layang fish (D. ruselli) contaminated with lead (Pb) heavy metals are still within the safe limit for consumption, following the maximum limit of heavy metals issued by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

Pane Island is one of the tourist destinations in Tapanuli Tengah Regency, visually Pane Island has some of marine ecosystems such as seagrass, mangrove, seaweed, and dead coral ecosystems. Sea cucumbers are invertebrates, it’s have high commercial value and has ecological functions. In this study, sea cucumbers identification, abundance and seagrass cover was investigated in Pane Island. The results showed that 1 sea cucumber species were found, Holothuria leucospilota. Sea cucumber abundance ranged from 0 to 1.2 ind/m2. Based on Principal Components Analysis (PCA), sea cucumber abundance is positively related to temperature, current, pH, salinity, total nitrogen, phosphate, and C-organic content. Furthermore, sea cucumber abundance is negatively related to the parameters of water depth, water transparency, DO and percentage of seagrass cover.

Belawan Oceanic Fishing Port is one of the bases of capture fisheries activities in North Sumatera which has considerable fishery potential. The most dominant fish caught in Belawan is Goldstripe sardinella (Sardinella gibbosa). Large-scale fishing activities are considered to be able to reduce the population of S. gibbosa in Belawan, mainly if fishing is carried out at any time. This study aims to analyse the utilization rates and sustainable potential of S. gibbosa at Belawan. This research was conducted by using surplus method production from May to June 2019. The annual catch, effort data, and fishing gear of S. gibbosa were analysed to estimate the Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY). The main fisheries operating in catching S. gibbosa include trawl, fishing line, and gillnet. The Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY) based on the Schaefer model obtained a value of 1821.92 and 1030.87 for on the fox model; the optimum effort based on the Schaefer model obtained a value 22.76 and 23.24 on the fox model. Based on these results, we concluded that the production of S. gibbosa at Belawan PPS has overfishing in 2014 with a production of 2085 tons and total 47 fishing trip.

Skipjack tuna Katsuwonus pelamis is one of the commercial fishes in Indonesia. This species is frequency caught by fishermen in Indian Ocean, North Sumatra Province. Therefore, the objectives of the present study were to identify endoparasitic worms and examine the infection level in skipjack tuna K. pelamis from North Sumatera Indian Ocean. Sampling was conducted in Horizon Private Fishing Port, Sibolga from 21 June to 5 July 2019. A total of 25 fish samples with weight ranges from 390 g to 670 g and total length from 29.3 cm to 34.6 cm. The identification of the worm was carried out in the laboratory using a stereo microscope. The results showed that there were eighth species of worms were found in intestine and stomach of the fish with varies level incidency, for example Echinorhynchus sp. and Rhadinorhynchus sp. with 100% intestinal incidences; Neoechinorhynchus sp.had 72% intestinal incidences; Leptorhynchoides sp. had 56% intestinal incidences; Pomphorhynchus sp. with 32% intestinal incidency; and Acanthocephalus sp. with 20% intestinal incidency. It is concluded that the Echinorhynchus sp. and Rhadinorhynchus sp. had higher incidency.

So, we need to make a research about the development of stingray in the Kuala Tanjung waters, Batubara Regency in order to get the information for the basic process of stingray. Tuna migration in Indonesian waters is part of the world tuna migration path because the territory of Indonesia is located on the border crossing between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. Histamine is a biogenic amine produced through bacterial decarboxylase from amino acid histidine, and is mostly found in large quantities in fish from the family Scombridae. Histamine production in fish depends on histidine levels in fish, the presence of decarboxylase enzyme-producing bacteria and environmental conditions. The amount of histamine produced by fish is strongly influenced by temperature, time, and storage conditions and species of fish.study This aims to determine the value of Histamine found in Tuna (Thunnus ssp) caught by fishermen. This research was conducted in July 2018 - August 2018. Samples were taken from the catches of fishermen in Belawan randomly, then tested at the Fish Quarantine Center in Medan Fisheries Product Quality and Safety Control I. Histamine test results obtained were around 2.45234 - 13. 31231 mg / L. It is concluded that the tuna from Belawan is still save for consumption.

This study aimed to determine the community structure of echinoderms and how it related to seagrass cover and water chemical and physical parameters in Pandaratan Beach, Tapanuli Tengah Regency. The research was conducted from Maret to April 2018. Data analysis included community structure analysis and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The result showed that there were seven species of echinoderms from four classes in Pandaratan Beach. The station I had the highest composition of echinoderms, while the lowest noted at station II. The highest abundance of 77 ind/m2 was found at the station I and the lowest of 44 ind/m2 was at station III. The highest diversity index was recorded at the station I, while the highest evenness and dominance index was at station II. Water quality of the waters was still in capacity to support the life of echinoderms. Based on PCA analysis, it was obtained that the abundance of echinoderms was positively correlated with seagrass cover, DO, depth, and phosphate.

The study aims to analyse the value of CPUE and the factors which influenced the Skipjack Tuna fishing production at the Sibolga Nusantara Fisheries Port (PPN). This research was conducted at PPN Sibolga, Central Tapanuli Regency. The research was conducted using a descriptive method with sample of 40 fishermen of purse seine vessels (ship captains) determined through purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques were carried out by using CPUE value analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that: (1) CPUE value of Skipjack Tuna landed at PPN Sibolga for a period of 6 years (2011-2016) experienced fluctuating decline and increase. The average CPUE value was 199.70 kg/trip. The highest CPUE value occurred in 2016 was 412.24 kg/trip and the lowest CPUE value occurred in 2015 was 32.70 kg/trip; (2) partially, the factors of the fisherman experience, the size of the ship, the power of the engine and the length of the trip had a significant effect on the skipjack tuna fishing production. Meanwhile, the amount of fuel did not have a significant effect. Trip duration was the dominant factor or had a strong influence in the fishing production of skipjack tuna.

The presence of heavy metals in the aquatic environment must be monitored continuously. This study aims to determine the amount of heavy metal content of Cadmium (Cd) and Lead (Pb) on Vaname Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Determining the value of Cadmium (Cd) and Lead (Pb) using an AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer) device. It is known that the highest Cd content in the sample 4 (market pancing) which is worth 0.011 mg/kg, and the lowest is in the sample 6 (market sei kambing) which is worth 0.004 mg/kg. The value of the highest Pb value is found in the sample 3 (market merah) worth 0.019 and the lowest value is the sample 5 (market petisah) worth 0.008. So that the results of these tests can be concluded, that the content of heavy metals Cd and Pb in each sample of vaname shrimp is classified as low according to the World Health Organization (WHO), namely the maximum limit of Cd is 5.0 and the maximum limit of Pb is 2.0 while according to EUROPEAN UNION the limit of calcium Cd is 0.2 and the maximum limit of Pb is 0.5 because the vaname shrimp sample is still safe for consumption and can be an export commodity.
