Abstract

Monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) demonstrate plenty of unique properties due to the band structure. Symmetry breaking brings second-order susceptibility to meaningful values resulting in the enhancement of corresponding nonlinear effects. Cooling the TMDC films to cryogenic temperatures leads to the emergence of two distinct photoluminescence peaks caused by the exciton and trion formation. These intrinsic excitations are known to enhance second harmonic generation. The nonlinear signal can be greatly increased if these material resonances are boosted by high-quality factor geometric resonance of all-dielectric metasurfaces. Here, we experimentally observe optical second harmonic generation caused by excitons of 2D semiconductor MoSe2 at room and cryogenic temperatures enhanced by spectrally overlapped high-Q resonance of TiO2 nanodisks metasurface. The enhancement reaches two orders of magnitude compared to the case when the resonances are not spectrally overlapped.

Abstract

The enhancement of the photoluminescence of quantum dots induced by an optical nanoantenna has been studied considerably, but there is still significant interest in optimizing and miniaturizing such structures, especially when accompanied by an experimental demonstration. Most of the realizations use plasmonic platforms, and some also use all-dielectric nanoantennas, but hybrid dielectric-plasmonic (subwavelength) nanostructures have been very little explored. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate single subwavelength hybrid dielectric-plasmonic optical nanoantennas coupled to localized quantum dot emitters that constitute efficient and bright unidirectional photon sources under optical pumping. To achieve this, we devised a silicon nanoring sitting on a gold mirror with a 10 nm gap in-between, where an assembly of colloidal quantum dots is embedded. Such a structure supports both (radiative) antenna mode and (nonradiative) gap mode resonances, which we exploit for the dual purpose of out-coupling the light emitted by the quantum dots into the far-field with out-of-plane directivity, and for enhancing the excitation of the dots by the optical pump. Moreover, almost independent control of the resonance spectral positions can be achieved by simple tuning of geometrical parameters such as the ring inner and outer diameters, allowing us to conveniently adjust these resonances with respect to the quantum dots emission and absorption wavelengths. Using the proposed architecture, we obtain experimentally average fluorescence enhancement factors up to $654\times$ folds mainly due to high radiative efficiencies, and associated with a directional emission of the photoluminescence into a cone of $\pm 17\degree$ in the direction normal to the sample plane. Abstract

Spin-dependent optical transitions are attractive for a plethora of applications in quantum technologies. Here we report on utilization of high quality ring resonators fabricated from TiO2 to enhance the emission from negatively charged boron vacancies in hexagonal Boron Nitride. We show that the emission from these defects can efficiently couple into the whispering gallery modes of the ring resonators. Optically coupled boron vacancy showed photoluminescence contrast in optically detected magnetic resonance signals from the hybrid coupled devices. Our results demonstrate a practical method for integration of spin defects in 2D materials with dielectric resonators which is a promising platform for quantum technologies.

Abstract

Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are a promising gain material for solution-processed, wavelength-tunable lasers, with potential application in displays, communications, and biomedical devices. In this work, we combine a CQD film with an array of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoantennas to achieve lasing via bound states in the continuum (BICs), which are symmetry-protected cavity modes with giant quality factors. Here, the BICs arise from slab waveguide modes in the planar film, coupled to the periodic nanoantenna array. We engineer the thickness of the CQD film and size of the nanoantennas to achieve a BIC with good spatial and spectral overlap with the CQDs, based on a 2nd-order TE-polarized waveguide mode. We obtain room-temperature lasing with a low threshold of approximately 11 kW/cm2 (peak intensity) under 5 ns-pulsed optical excitation. This work sheds light on the optical modes in solution-processed, distributed-feedback lasers, and highlights BICs as effective, versatile, surface-emitting lasing modes., Comment: 30 pages, 7 figures

Abstract

In recent years, the digital economy has continuously innovated the traditional industrial economy and brought about the continuous optimization of economic structure. By combining the AP clustering algorithm, this paper creates a representative viewpoint extraction model that extracts the relevant features of relevant variables and generates a more representative economic viewpoint. The social network structure between the digital economy and industrial economics is analyzed using the social relationship graph. Using the information gain calculation formula, the correlation calculation is carried out on the characteristics of variables with stronger relationships and larger information gain. Meanwhile, the correlation coefficient between variables with larger information gain is calculated by Spearman’s coefficient. The influencing factors of industrial economic development under the digital economy are analyzed through three dimensions, and the theoretical model of group effect analysis is constructed to analyze the binary interaction between the two. Through the method of empirical analysis, the interaction between the digital economy and the industrial economy is tested in terms of smoothness and cointegration. HP filtering, as well as impulse response analysis, are carried out to analyze the interaction between the two in A. After 9 groups of experiments, the cointegration number of the original hypothesis is 0 or ≥1, the original hypothesis is rejected at a significance level of 1%, and the eigenvalues range from 67.4566 to 69.7445, and there is a correlation between the two. The impulse response value of the industrial economy improves from 0.0002 to 0.001. The development of the digital economy will lead to the development of the industrial economy.

Abstract

Chern insulator or quantum anomalous Hall state is a topological state with integer Hall conductivity but in absence of Landau level. It had been well established on various two-dimensional lattices with periodic structure. Here, we report similar Chern insulators can also be realized on the quasicrystal with $5$-fold rotational symmetry. Providing the staggered flux through plaquettes, we propose two types of quasicrystalline Chern insulators. Their topological characterizations are well identified by the robustness of edge states, non-zero real-space Chern number, and quantized conductance. We further find the failure of integer conductivity but with quantized Chern number at some special energies. Our study therefore provide a new opportunity to searching topological materials in aperiodic system., Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures

Abstract

Cryptomeria japonica var. sinensis Miquel in south China is currently overwhelmingly infested by a native caterpillar species, Dendrolimus houi (Lepidoptera), which is causing severe economic losses and ecological disasters in both planted and natural forests. Our results include report of five parasitoid species and eight parasitoid flies within D. houi and a dominant endoparasitoid species Kriechbaumerella dendrolimi, which attacks pupae of D. houi with a high parasitism rate. This result might be helpful to improve better identification and application in the future for potential biological control of D. houi in the forests of east Asia.
