1. Riemannian conjugate Sobolev gradients and their application to compute ground states of BECs

Abstract: This work considers the numerical computation of ground states of rotating Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) which can exhibit a multiscale lattice of quantized vortices. This problem involves the minimization of an energy functional on a Riemannian manifold. For this we apply the framework of nonlinear conjugate gradient methods in combination with the paradigm of Sobolev gradients to investigate different metrics. Here we build on previous work that proposed to enhance the convergence of regular Riemannian gradients methods by an adaptively changing metric that is based on the current energy. In this work, we extend this approach to the branch of Riemannian conjugate gradient (CG) methods and investigate the arising schemes numerically. Special attention is given to the selection of the momentum parameter in search direction and how this affects the performance of the resulting schemes. As known from similar applications, we find that the choice of the momentum parameter plays a critical role, with certain parameters reducing the number of iterations required to achieve a specified tolerance by a significant factor. Besides the influence of the momentum parameters, we also investigate how the methods with adaptive metric compare to the corresponding realizations with a standard $H^1_0$-metric. As one of our main findings, the results of the numerical experiments show that the Riemannian CG method with the proposed adaptive metric along with a Polak-Ribi\'ere or Hestenes-Stiefel-type momentum parameter show the best performance and highest robustness compared to the other CG methods that were part of our numerical study.

2. Secure Enhancement for RIS-Aided UAV with ISAC: Robust Design and Resource Allocation

Abstract: This paper analyses the security performance of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication system with integrated sensing and communications (ISAC). We consider a multiple-antenna UAV transmitting ISAC waveforms to simultaneously detect an untrusted target in the surrounding environment and communicate with a ground Internet-of-Things (IoT) device in the presence of an eavesdropper (Eve). Given that the Eve can conceal their channel state information (CSI) in practical scenarios, we assume that the CSI of the eavesdropper channel is imperfect. For this RIS-aided ISAC-UAV system, we aim to maximize the average communication secrecy rate by jointly optimizing UAV trajectory, RIS passive beamforming, transmit beamforming, and receive beamforming. However, this joint optimization problem is non-convex due to multi-variable coupling. As such, we solve the optimization using an efficient and tractable algorithm using a block coordinate descent (BCD) method. Specifically, we develop a successive convex approximation (SCA) algorithm based on semidefinite relaxation (SDR) to optimise the joint optimization as four separate non-convex subproblems. Numerical results show that our proposed algorithm can successfully ensure the accuracy of sensing targets and significantly improve the communication secrecy rate of the IoT communication devices.

3. Movable Antenna Enabled ISAC Beamforming Design for Low-Altitude Airborne Vehicles

Abstract: In mobile systems with low-altitude vehicles, integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is considered an effective approach to increase the transmission rate due to limited spectrum resources. To further improve the ISAC performance, this paper proposes a novel method called integrated sensing and communication-movable antenna (ISAC-MA) to optimize the antenna's position. Our goal is to support low-space vehicles by optimizing radar and communication joint beamforming and antenna position in the presence of clutter. This scheme not only guarantees the required signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for sensing but also further improves the SNR for communication. A successive convex approximation (SCA)-based block coordinate descent (BCD) algorithm is proposed to maximize communication capacity under the condition of sensing SNR. Numerical results show that, compared with the traditional ISAC system and various benchmark schemes, the proposed ISAC-MA system can achieve higher communication capacity under the same sensing SNR constraints.

4. Spatial mapping of magnetization fluctuations via time-lapse Kerr microscopy

Abstract: Combining wide-field magneto-optical Kerr microscopy with a time-lapse analysis scheme allows investigating magnetization fluctuations with high spatial as well as temporal resolution. We here use this technique to study magnetization fluctuations in a thin ferromagnetic film prepared into a quasi-equilibrium magnetic state via a dedicated field sweep protocol. Our experiments reveal spatially localized noise hotspots distributed across the sample surface within the magnetic domains in the quasi-equilibrium state. The spatial density of the noise hot spots is very similar at different low magnetic field strengths, as expected from the fluctuation-dissipation theorem. The measurement scheme thus opens the way for the spatially resolved investigation of quasi-equilibrium noise processes in magnetic materials., Comment: 4 pages, 4 FIgures, to be published in Phys.Rev.B

5. Enhancing Open-Set Speaker Identification through Rapid Tuning with Speaker Reciprocal Points and Negative Sample

Abstract: This paper introduces a novel framework for open-set speaker identification in household environments, playing a crucial role in facilitating seamless human-computer interactions. Addressing the limitations of current speaker models and classification approaches, our work integrates an pretrained WavLM frontend with a few-shot rapid tuning neural network (NN) backend for enrollment, employing task-optimized Speaker Reciprocal Points Learning (SRPL) to enhance discrimination across multiple target speakers. Furthermore, we propose an enhanced version of SRPL (SRPL+), which incorporates negative sample learning with both speech-synthesized and real negative samples to significantly improve open-set SID accuracy. Our approach is thoroughly evaluated across various multi-language text-dependent speaker recognition datasets, demonstrating its effectiveness in achieving high usability for complex household multi-speaker recognition scenarios. 6. StyleFusion TTS: Multimodal Style-control and Enhanced Feature Fusion for Zero-shot Text-to-speech Synthesis

Abstract: We introduce StyleFusion-TTS, a prompt and/or audio referenced, style and speaker-controllable, zero-shot text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis system designed to enhance the editability and naturalness of current research literature. We propose a general front-end encoder as a compact and effective module to utilize multimodal inputs including text prompts, audio references, and speaker timbre references in a fully zero-shot manner and produce disentangled style and speaker control embeddings. Our novel approach also leverages a hierarchical conformer structure for the fusion of style and speaker control embeddings, aiming to achieve optimal feature fusion within the current advanced TTS architecture. StyleFusion-TTS is evaluated through multiple metrics, both subjectively and objectively. Abstract: By analyzing $e^+e^-$ annihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 fb$^{-1}$, collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, we search for the semileptonic decays $D^0\to K^-\eta e^+\nu_e$, $D^+\to K_S^0 \eta e^+\nu_e$ and $D^+\to \eta\eta e^+\nu_e$ for the first time. We present evidence for $D^0\to K^-\eta e^+\nu_e$ with a significance of $3.3\sigma$. The branching fraction of $D^0\to K^-\eta e^+\nu_e$ is measured to be $(0.84_{-0.34}^{+0.29}\pm0.22)\times 10^{-4}$. Here, the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. No significant signals are observed for the decays $D^+\to K_S^0 \eta e^+\nu_e$ and $D^+\to \eta\eta e^+\nu_e$ and we set the upper limits on their branching fractions., Comment: 10 pages,4 figures

8. Rate-Splitting for Cell-Free Massive MIMO: Performance Analysis and Generative AI Approach

Abstract: Cell-free (CF) massive multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) provides a ubiquitous coverage to user equipments (UEs) but it is also susceptible to interference. Ratesplitting (RS) effectively extracts data by decoding interference, yet its effectiveness is limited by the weakest UE. In this paper, we investigate an RS-based CF massive MIMO system, which combines strengths and mitigates weaknesses of both approaches. Considering imperfect channel state information (CSI) resulting from both pilot contamination and noise, we derive a closed-form expression for the sum spectral efficiency (SE) of the RS-based CF massive MIMO system under a spatially correlated Rician channel. Moreover, we propose low-complexity heuristic algorithms based on statistical CSI for power-splitting of common messages and power-control of private messages, and genetic algorithm is adopted as a solution for upper bound performance. Furthermore, we formulate a joint optimization problem, aiming to maximize the sum SE of the RS-based CF massive MIMO system by optimizing the power-splitting factor and power-control coefficient. Importantly, we improve a generative AI (GAI) algorithm to address this complex and nonconvexity problem by using a diffusion model to obtain solutions. 9. Improving Physical-Layer Security in ISAC-UAV System: Beamforming and Trajectory Optimization

Abstract: This paper investigates a novel unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) secure communication system with integrated sensing and communications. We consider wireless security enhancement for a multiple-antenna UAV transmitting ISAC waveforms to communicate with multiple ground Internet-of-Thing devices and detect the surrounding environment. Specifically, we aim to maximize the average communication secrecy rate by optimizing the UAV trajectory and beamforming vectors. Given that the UAV trajectory optimization problem is non-convex due to multi-variable coupling develop an efficient algorithm based on the successive convex approximation (SCA) algorithm. Numerical results show that our proposed algorithm can ensure the accuracy of sensing targets and improve the communication secrecy rate.

Abstract: Periodic micromagnetic finite element method (PM-FEM) is introduced to solve periodic unit cell problems using the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. PM-FEM is applicable to general problems with 1D, 2D, and 3D periodicities. PM-FEM is based on a non-periodic FEM-based micromagnetic solver and extends it in several aspects to account for periodicities, including the computation of exchange and magnetostatic fields. For the exchange field, PM-FEM modifies the sparse matrix construction for computing the Laplace operator to include additional elements arising due to the periodicities. For the magnetostatic field, the periodic extensions include modifications in the local operators, such as gradient, divergence, and surface magnetic charges as well as the long-range superposition operator for computing the periodic scalar potential. The local operators are extended to account for the periodicities similar to handling the Laplace operator. For the long-range superposition operator, PM-FEM utilizes a periodic Green's function (PGF) and fast spatial convolutions. The PGF is computed rapidly via exponentially rapidly convergent sums. The spatial convolutions are accomplished via a modified fast Fourier transform based adaptive integral method that allows calculating spatial convolutions with non-uniform meshes in $O(N\log N)$ numerical operations. PM-FEM is implemented on CPU and GPU based computer architectures. PM-FEM allows efficiently handling cases of structures contained withing the periodic unit cell touching or not touching its boundaries as well as structures that protrude beyond the unit cell boundaries. PM-FEM is demonstrated to have about the same or even higher performance than its parent non-periodic code. The demonstrated numerical examples show the efficiency of PM-FEM for highly complex structures with 1D, 2D, and 3D periodicities.

11. Enhancing Large Language Models with Domain-specific Retrieval Augment Generation: A Case Study on Long-form Consumer Health Question Answering in Ophthalmology

Abstract: Despite the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) in medicine, they may generate responses lacking supporting evidence or based on hallucinated evidence. While Retrieval Augment Generation (RAG) is popular to address this issue, few studies implemented and evaluated RAG in downstream domain-specific applications. We developed a RAG pipeline with 70,000 ophthalmology-specific documents that retrieve relevant documents to augment LLMs during inference time. In a case study on long-form consumer health questions, we systematically evaluated the responses including over 500 references of LLMs with and without RAG on 100 questions with 10 healthcare professionals. The evaluation focuses on factuality of evidence, selection and ranking of evidence, attribution of evidence, and answer accuracy and completeness. LLMs without RAG provided 252 references in total. Of which, 45.3% hallucinated, 34.1% consisted of minor errors, and 20.6% were correct. In contrast, LLMs with RAG significantly improved accuracy (54.5% being correct) and reduced error rates (18.8% with minor hallucinations and 26.7% with errors). 62.5% of the top 10 documents retrieved by RAG were selected as the top references in the LLM response, with an average ranking of 4.9. The use of RAG also improved evidence attribution (increasing from 1.85 to 2.49 on a 5-point scale, P<0.001), albeit with slight decreases in accuracy (from 3.52 to 3.23, P=0.03) and completeness (from 3.47 to 3.27, P=0.17). The results demonstrate that LLMs frequently exhibited hallucinated and erroneous evidence in the responses, raising concerns for downstream applications in the medical domain. RAG substantially reduced the proportion of such evidence but encountered challenges.

12. A generalizable framework for unlocking missing reactions in genome-scale metabolic networks using deep learning

Abstract: Incomplete knowledge of metabolic processes hinders the accuracy of GEnome-scale Metabolic models (GEMs), which in turn impedes advancements in systems biology and metabolic engineering. Existing gap-filling methods typically rely on phenotypic data to minimize the disparity between computational predictions and experimental results. However, there is still a lack of an automatic and precise gap-filling method for initial state GEMs before experimental data and annotated genomes become available. In this study, we introduce CLOSEgaps, a deep learning-driven tool that addresses the gap-filling issue by modeling it as a hyperedge prediction problem within GEMs. Specifically, CLOSEgaps maps metabolic networks as hypergraphs and learns their hyper-topology features to identify missing reactions and gaps by leveraging hypothetical reactions. This innovative approach allows for the characterization and curation of both known and hypothetical reactions within metabolic networks. Extensive results demonstrate that CLOSEgaps accurately gap-filling over 96% of artificially introduced gaps for various GEMs. Furthermore, CLOSEgaps enhances phenotypic predictions for 24 GEMs and also finds a notable improvement in producing four crucial metabolites (Lactate, Ethanol, Propionate, and Succinate) in two organisms. As a broadly applicable solution for any GEM, CLOSEgaps represents a promising model to automate the gap-filling process and uncover missing connections between reactions and observed metabolic phenotypes.

Abstract: Over 700 bright millisecond-duration radio transients, known as Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs), have been identified to date. Nevertheless, the origin of FRBs remains unknown. The two repeating FRBs (FRB 20121102A and FRB 20190520B) have been verified to be associated with persistent radio sources (PRSs), making them the best candidates to study the nature of FRBs. Monitoring the variability in PRSs is essential for understanding their physical nature. We conducted 22 observations of the PRSs linked to FRB 20121102A and FRB 20190520B using the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA), to study their variability. We have observed significant flux variability for the PRSs of FRB 20121102A and FRB 20190520B, with a confidence level exceeding 99.99%, based on the observations covering the longest timescale recorded to date. The observed variability of the two PRSs exhibits no significant difference in amplitude across both short and long timescales. We found that the radio-derived star formation rates of the two FRB hosts are significantly higher than those measured by the optical $H_{\alpha}$ emissions, indicating that their host galaxies are highly obscured or most radio emissions are not from star formation processes. 14. Joint AP-UE Association and Precoding for SIM-Aided Cell-Free Massive MIMO Systems

Abstract: Cell-free (CF) massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) systems are emerging as promising alternatives to cellular networks, especially in ultra-dense environments. However, further capacity enhancement requires the deployment of more access points (APs), which will lead to high costs and high energy consumption. To address this issue, in this paper, we explore the integration of low-power, low-cost stacked intelligent metasurfaces (SIM) into CF mMIMO systems to enhance AP capabilities. The key point is that SIM performs precoding-related matrix operations in the wave domain. As a consequence, each AP antenna only needs to transmit data streams for a single user equipment (UE), eliminating the need for complex baseband digital precoding. Then, we formulate the problem of joint AP-UE association and precoding at APs and SIMs to maximize the system sum rate. Due to the non-convexity and high complexity of the formulated problem, we propose a two-stage signal processing framework to solve it. In particular, in the first stage, we propose an AP antenna greedy association (AGA) algorithm to minimize UE interference. In the second stage, we introduce an alternating optimization (AO)-based algorithm that separates the joint power and wave-based precoding optimization problem into two distinct sub-problems: the complex quadratic transform method is used for AP antenna power control, and the projection gradient ascent (PGA) algorithm is employed to find suboptimal solutions for the SIM wave-based precoding. Finally, the numerical results validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework and assess the performance enhancement achieved by the algorithm in comparison to various benchmark schemes. The results show that, with the same number of SIM meta-atoms, the proposed algorithm improves the sum rate by approximately 275% compared to the benchmark scheme.

15. Harnessing Stacked Intelligent Metasurface for Enhanced Cell-Free Massive MIMO Systems: A Low-Power and Cost Approach

Abstract: In this paper, we explore the integration of low-power, low-cost stacked intelligent metasurfaces (SIM) into cell-free (CF) massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) systems to enhance access point (AP) capabilities and address high power consumption and cost challenges. Specifically, we investigate the uplink performance of a SIM-enhanced CF mMIMO system and propose a novel system framework. First, the closed-form expressions of the spectral efficiency (SE) are obtained using the unique two-layer signal processing framework of CF mMIMO systems. Second, to mitigate inter-user interference, an interference-based greedy algorithm for pilot allocation is introduced. Third, a wave-based beamforming algorithm for SIM is proposed, based only on statistical channel state information, which effectively reduces the fronthaul costs. Finally, a max-min SE power control algorithm is proposed to improve the performance of UE with inferior channel conditions. The results indicate that increasing the number of SIM layers and meta-atoms leads to significant performance improvements and allows for a reduction in the number of APs and AP antennas, thus lowering the costs. In particular, the best SE performance is achieved with the deployment of 20 APs plus 1200 SIM meta-atoms. Finally, the proposed wave-based beamforming algorithm can enhance the SE performance of SIM-enhanced CF-mMIMO systems by 57\%, significantly outperforming traditional CF mMIMO systems.

16. InfiMM-WebMath-40B: Advancing Multimodal Pre-Training for Enhanced Mathematical Reasoning

Abstract: Pre-training on large-scale, high-quality datasets is crucial for enhancing the reasoning capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs), especially in specialized domains such as mathematics. Despite the recognized importance, the Multimodal LLMs (MLLMs) field currently lacks a comprehensive open-source pre-training dataset specifically designed for mathematical reasoning. To address this gap, we introduce InfiMM-WebMath-40B, a high-quality dataset of interleaved image-text documents. It comprises 24 million web pages, 85 million associated image URLs, and 40 billion text tokens, all meticulously extracted and filtered from CommonCrawl. We provide a detailed overview of our data collection and processing pipeline. To demonstrate the robustness of InfiMM-WebMath-40B, we conducted evaluations in both text-only and multimodal settings. Our evaluations on text-only benchmarks show that, despite utilizing only 40 billion tokens, our dataset significantly enhances the performance of our 1.3B model, delivering results comparable to DeepSeekMath-1.3B, which uses 120 billion tokens for the same model size. Nevertheless, with the introduction of our multi-modal math pre-training dataset, our models set a new state-of-the-art among open-source models on multi-modal math benchmarks such as MathVerse and We-Math. Abstract: Effective pollination is a key challenge for indoor farming, since bees struggle to navigate without the sun. While a variety of robotic system solutions have been proposed, it remains difficult to autonomously check that a flower has been sufficiently pollinated to produce high-quality fruit, which is especially critical for self-pollinating crops such as strawberries. To this end, this work proposes a novel robotic system for indoor farming. The proposed hardware combines a 7-degree-of-freedom (DOF) manipulator arm with a custom end-effector, comprised of an endoscope camera, a 2-DOF microscope subsystem, and a custom vibrating pollination tool; this is paired with algorithms to detect and estimate the pose of strawberry flowers, navigate to each flower, pollinate using the tool, and inspect with the microscope. The key novelty is vibrating the flower from below while simultaneously inspecting with a microscope from above. Each subsystem is validated via extensive experiments.

20. Revised $^3$He nuclear charge radius due to electronic hyperfine mixing

Abstract: The significant discrepancy in the difference of squared nuclear charge radii $\Delta R^2$ of $^{3,4}$He obtained from electronic-atom or muonic-atom energy levels is a puzzle. In this paper, we show that the tension is resolved by including off-diagonal mixing effects due to the hyperfine interaction. Our findings indicate that the hyperfine mixing effect from the $n\,^3\!S$ and $n\,^1\!S$ states ($n>2$) of $^3$He leads to a $-1.37$ kHz adjustment in the isotope shift of the $2\,^1\!S-2\,^3\!S$ transition, surpassing the current uncertainty by a factor of $7$. This results in a change of $-0.0064~\rm{fm}^2$ in $\Delta R^2$, shifting from $1.0757(15)~\mathrm{fm}^2$ to $1.0693(15)~\mathrm{fm}^2$ as determined by Werf {\it et al.}, significantly reducing the discrepancy with the value of $1.0636(31)~\mathrm{fm}^2$ determined by $\mu\rm{He}^+$, and aligning with the result of $1.069(3)$ $\mathrm{fm}^2$ obtained from the $2\,^3\!S-2\,^3\!P$ transition. This adjustment will result in a noticeable change in the absolute nuclear charge radius of $^{3}$He by $-0.0017~\rm{fm}$, aligning the revised value of $1.9715(11)~\mathrm{fm}$ with the value of $1.97007(94)~\mathrm{fm}$ determined by $\mu^3\rm{He}^+$ within $1\sigma$. Our results offer crucial insights into resolving discrepancy in $\Delta R^2$ for $^{3,4}$He and determining the charge radius of $^3$He.

21. NovAScore: A New Automated Metric for Evaluating Document Level Novelty

Abstract: The rapid expansion of online content has intensified the issue of information redundancy, underscoring the need for solutions that can identify genuinely new information. Despite this challenge, the research community has seen a decline in focus on novelty detection, particularly with the rise of large language models (LLMs). Additionally, previous approaches have relied heavily on human annotation, which is time-consuming, costly, and particularly challenging when annotators must compare a target document against a vast number of historical documents. In this work, we introduce NovAScore (Novelty Evaluation in Atomicity Score), an automated metric for evaluating document-level novelty. NovAScore aggregates the novelty and salience scores of atomic information, providing high interpretability and a detailed analysis of a document's novelty. With its dynamic weight adjustment scheme, NovAScore offers enhanced flexibility and an additional dimension to assess both the novelty level and the importance of information within a document. Our experiments show that NovAScore strongly correlates with human judgments of novelty, achieving a 0.626 Point-Biserial correlation on the TAP-DLND 1.0 dataset and a 0.920 Pearson correlation on an internal human-annotated dataset.

22. Nonlinear charge and thermal transport properties induced by orbital magnetic moment in chiral crystal cobalt monosilicide

Abstract: The existence of exotic singularities in momentum space, such as spin-1 excitations and Rarita-Schwinger-Weyl (RSW) fermions, has been discussed so far to explore unique phenomena in the nonmagnetic B20-type compounds. Meanwhile, the Nonlinear Thermo-Electric (NCTE) charge and thermal Hall effect, a response proportional to the cross product of the electric field and temperature gradient, is expected in this chiral material, yet remains unexplored in B20-type compounds. Here, based on $ab \ initio$ calculations and symmetry analysis, we quantitatively analyze the NCTE charge and thermal Hall effects in cobalt monosilicide, obtaining experimentally measurable values of NCTE charge and thermal Hall current along [111] direction, which is not expected for second-order current responses to the DC electric field. Furthermore, we demonstrate that these significant responses are enhanced around RSW fermions and spin-1 excitations. Abstract: The $CP$-even fractions ($F_{+}$) of the decays $D^0\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ and $D^0\to K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{0}$ are measured with a quantum-correlated $\psi(3770)\to D\bar{D}$ data sample collected by the BESIII experiment corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$. The results are $F_{+}^{\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}}=0.9406\pm0.0036\pm0.0021$ and $F_{+}^{K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{0}}=0.631\pm0.014\pm0.011$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. These measurements are consistent with the previous determinations, and the uncertainties for $F_{+}^{\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}}$ and $F_{+}^{K^{+}K^{-}\pi^{0}}$ are reduced by factors of 3.9 and 2.6, respectively. The reported results provide important inputs for the precise measurement of the angle $\gamma$ of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix and indirect $CP$ violation in charm mixing., Comment: 19 pages, 8 figures

24. Refracting Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface Assisted URLLC for Millimeter Wave High-Speed Train Communication Coverage Enhancement

Abstract: High-speed train (HST) has garnered significant attention from both academia and industry due to the rapid development of railways worldwide. Millimeter wave (mmWave) communication, known for its large bandwidth is an effective way to address performance bottlenecks in cellular network based HST wireless communication systems. However, mmWave signals suffer from significant path loss when traversing carriage, posing substantial challenges to cellular networks. To address this issue, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) have gained considerable interest for its ability to enhance cell coverage by reflecting signals toward receiver. Ensuring communication reliability, a core performance indicators of ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (URLLC) in fifth-generation systems, is crucial for providing steady and reliable data transmissions along railways, particularly for delivering safety and control messages and monitoring HST signaling information. In this paper, we investigate a refracting RIS-assisted multi-user multiple-input single-output URLLC system in mmWave HST communications. We propose a sum rate maximization problem, subject to base station beamforming constraint, as well as refracting RIS discrete phase shifts and reliability constraints. To solve this optimization problem, we design a joint optimization algorithm based on alternating optimization method. This involves decoupling the original optimization problem into active beamforming design and packet error probability optimization subproblem, and discrete phase shift design subproblems. These subproblems are addressed exploiting Lagrangian dual method and the local search method, respectively. Abstract: The rapid advancements in large language models (LLMs) have significantly enhanced natural language processing capabilities, facilitating the development of AudioLLMs that process and understand speech and audio inputs alongside text. Existing AudioLLMs typically combine a pre-trained audio encoder with a pre-trained LLM, which are subsequently finetuned on specific audio tasks. However, the pre-trained audio encoder has constrained capacity to capture features for new tasks and datasets. To address this, we propose to incorporate mixtures of `weak' encoders (MoWE) into the AudioLLM framework. MoWE supplements a base encoder with a pool of relatively light weight encoders, selectively activated based on the audio input to enhance feature extraction without significantly increasing model size. Our empirical results demonstrate that MoWE effectively improves multi-task performance, broadening the applicability of AudioLLMs to more diverse audio tasks.

26. Testing Adam-Gibbs relationship in tapped Granular Packings

Abstract: Disordered granular packings share many similarities with supercooled liquids, particu-larly in the rapid increase of structural relaxation time within a narrow range of temperature or packing fraction. However, it is unclear whether the dynamics of granular materials align with those of their corresponding thermal hard sphere liquids, and the particular influence of friction of a granular system remains largely unexplored. Here, we experimentally study the slow relaxation and the steady state of monodisperse granular sphere packings with X-ray tomography. We first quantify the thermodynamic parameters under the Edwards' ensemble, (i.e., effective temperature and configurational entropy), of granular spheres with varying friction, and measure their characteristic relaxation time during compaction processes. We then demonstrate a unified picture of the relaxation process in granular systems in which the Adam-Gibbs (AG) relationship is generally followed. Abstract: We present a study of the semileptonic decay $D^0\rightarrow \pi^-\pi^0e^{+}\nu_{e}$ using an $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sample of $7.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. The branching fraction of $D^0\to \rho(770)^-e^+\nu_e$ is measured to be $(1.439 \pm 0.033(\rm stat.) \pm 0.027(\rm syst.)) \times10^{-3}$, which is a factor 1.6 more precise than previous measurements. By performing an amplitude analysis, we measure the hadronic form-factor ratios of $D^0\to \rho(770)^-e^+\nu_e$ at $q^2=0$ assuming the single-pole-dominance parametrization: $r_{V}=V(0)/A_1(0)=1.548\pm0.079(\rm stat.)\pm0.041(\rm syst.)$ and $r_{2}=A_2(0)/A_1(0)=0.823\pm0.056(\rm stat.)\pm0.026(\rm syst.)$., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: In the effective field theory, the massless dark photon $\gamma'$ can only couple with the Standard Model particle through operators of dimension higher than four, thereby offering a high sensitivity to the new physics energy scale. Using $7.9~\rm{fb^{-1}}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at $\sqrt{s}=3.773$ GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the effective flavor-changing neutral current coupling of $cu\gamma'$ in $D^0\to\omega\gamma'$ and $D^0\to\gamma\gamma'$ processes to search for the massless dark photon. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the massless dark photon branching fraction are set to be $1.1\times10^{-5}$ and $2.0\times10^{-6}$ for $D^0\to\omega\gamma'$ and $D^0\to\gamma\gamma'$, respectively. These results provide the most stringent constraint on the new physics energy scale associated with $cu\gamma'$ coupling in the world, with the new physics energy scale related parameter $|\mathbb{C}|^2+|\mathbb{C}_5|^2<8.2\times10^{-17}~\rm{GeV}^{-2}$ at the 90% confidence level, playing a unique role in the dark sector search with the charm sector., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures

29. When Does Visual Prompting Outperform Linear Probing for Vision-Language Models? A Likelihood Perspective

Abstract: Adapting pre-trained models to new tasks can exhibit varying effectiveness across datasets. Visual prompting, a state-of-the-art parameter-efficient transfer learning method, can significantly improve the performance of out-of-distribution tasks. On the other hand, linear probing, a standard transfer learning method, can sometimes become the best approach. We propose a log-likelihood ratio (LLR) approach to analyze the comparative benefits of visual prompting and linear probing. By employing the LLR score alongside resource-efficient visual prompts approximations, our cost-effective measure attains up to a 100-fold reduction in run time compared to full training, while achieving prediction accuracies up to 91%. 30. New results on the local-nonglobal minimizers of the generalized trust-region subproblem

Abstract: In this paper, we study the local-nonglobal minimizers of the Generalized Trust-Region subproblem $(GTR)$ and its Equality-constrained version $(GTRE)$. Firstly, the equivalence is established between the local-nonglobal minimizers of both $(GTR)$ and $(GTRE)$ under assumption of the joint definiteness. By the way, a counterexample is presented to disprove a conjecture of Song-Wang-Liu-Xia [SIAM J. Optim., 33(2023), pp.267-293]. Secondly, if the Hessian matrix pair is jointly positive definite, it is proved that each of $(GTR)$ and $(GTRE)$ has at most two local-nonglobal minimizers. This result first confirms the correctness of another conjecture of Song-Wang-Liu-Xia [SIAM J. Optim., 33(2023), pp.267-293]. Thirdly, if the Hessian matrix pair is jointly negative definite, it is verified that each of $(GTR)$ and $(GTRE)$ has at most one local-nonglobal minimizer. In special, if the constraint is reduced to be a ball or a sphere, the above result is just the classical Mart\'{i}nez's. Finally, an algorithm is proposed to find all the local-nonglobal minimizers of $(GTR)$ and $(GTRE)$ or confirm their nonexistence in a tolerance. Preliminary numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm.

31. Sphaleron and gravitational wave with the Higgs-Dilaton potential in the Standard Model Two-Time Physics

Abstract: By introducing a Higgs-Dilaton potential, the 2T model has full triggering for a first order electroweak phase transition, namely for the mass of Dilaton between $300 $ GeV and $550$ GeV. We have also compared the transition strengths in the case with and without daisay loops, the difference being always less than $0.2$. The effective Higgs potential has given a sphaleron energy less than $8.4$ TeV. The value of $\beta/H^*$ is larger than $25$ and less than $34$ in all cases that are sufficient to trigger the first order electroweak phase transition. 32. Primordial black holes from an aborted phase transition

Abstract: We propose a new mechanism of primordial black hole formation via an aborted phase transition during the early matter-dominated stage of reheating after inflation. In reheating, induced by the decay of a pressureless fluid dominating the Universe at the end of inflation, dubbed as reheaton, the temperature of the radiation bath typically increases, reaching a maximum temperature $T_{\rm max}$, and then decreases. We consider a first-order phase transition induced by the increase of the temperature that is aborted as $T_{\rm max}$ is higher than the critical temperature but not sufficiently high for the bubble nucleation rate to overcome the expansion of the Universe. Although bubbles never fully occupy the space, some may be nucleated and expand until the temperature once again decreases to the critical temperature. We argue that these bubbles shrink and disappear as the temperature drops further, leaving behind macroscopic spherical regions with positive density perturbations. These perturbed regions accrete the surrounding matter (reheatons) and eventually collapse into primordial black holes whose mass continues to grow until the onset of radiation domination. We estimate the abundance of these primordial black holes in terms of the bubble nucleation rate at $T_{\rm max}$, and demonstrate that the abundance can be significantly large from a phenomenological perspective., Comment: 7 pages + Supplementary Material, 4 figures

Abstract: Using a data sample of $e^+e^-$ collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.93 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy 3.773~GeV, we perform the first amplitude analysis of the decay $D^{+} \to K_{S}^{0} K_{S}^{0} \pi^{+}$. The absolute branching fraction of $D^{+} \to K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0} \pi^{+}$ is measured to be $(2.97 \pm 0.09_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.05_{\rm syst.})\times10^{-3}$. The dominant intermediate process is $D^{+} \to K_{S}^{0}K^{*}(892)^{+}$, whose branching fraction is determined to be $(8.72 \pm 0.28_{\rm stat.} \pm 0.15_{\rm syst.}) \times 10^{-3}$, including all the $K^*(892)^+$ decays.

34. Binding of the three-hadron DD^{*}K system from the lattice effective field theory

Abstract: We employ the nuclear lattice effective field theory (NLEFT), an efficient tool for nuclear ab initio calculations, to solve the asymmetric multi-hadron systems. We take the $DD^*K$ three-body system as an illustration to demonstrate the capability of the method. Here the two-body chiral interactions between $D$, $D^*$ and $K$ are regulated with a soft lattice regulator and calibrated with the binding energies of the $T_{cc}^+$, $D^{*}_{s0}(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ molecular states. We then calculate the three-body binding energy using the NLEFT and analyze the systematic uncertainties due to the finite volume effects, the sliding cutoff and the leading-order three-body forces. Even when the three-body interaction is repulsive (even as large as the infinite repulsive interaction), the three-body system has a bound state unambiguously with binding energy no larger than the $D_{s1}(2460)D$ threshold. To check the renormalization group invariance of our framework, we extract the first excited state. We find that when the ground state is fixed, the first excited states with various cutoffs coincide with each other when the cubic size goes larger. In addition, the standard angular momentum and parity projection technique is implemented for the quantum numbers of the ground and excited states. We find that both of them are S-wave states with quantum number $J^{P}=1^-$. Because the three-body state contains two charm quarks, it is easier to be detected in the Large Hadron Collider., Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures

35. Nonparametric Estimation of Path-specific Effects in Presence of Nonignorable Missing Covariates

Abstract: The path-specific effect (PSE) is of primary interest in mediation analysis when multiple intermediate variables between treatment and outcome are observed, as it can isolate the specific effect through each mediator, thus mitigating potential bias arising from other intermediate variables serving as mediator-outcome confounders. However, estimation and inference of PSE become challenging in the presence of nonignorable missing covariates, a situation particularly common in epidemiological research involving sensitive patient information. In this paper, we propose a fully nonparametric methodology to address this challenge. We establish identification for PSE by expressing it as a functional of observed data and demonstrate that the associated nuisance functions can be uniquely determined through sequential optimization problems by leveraging a shadow variable. Then we propose a sieve-based regression imputation approach for estimation. We establish the large-sample theory for the proposed estimator, and introduce a robust and efficient approach to make inference for PSE. The proposed method is applied to the NHANES dataset to investigate the mediation roles of dyslipidemia and obesity in the pathway from Type 2 diabetes mellitus to cardiovascular disease., Comment: 37 pages, 6 figures

Abstract: Using $e^+e^-$ collision data collected by the BESIII detector at BEPCII corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 30 $\rm fb^{-1}$, we measure Born cross sections and effective form factors for the process $e^+e^-\to\Xi^0\bar{\Xi}^0$ at forty-five center-of-mass energies between 3.51 and 4.95 GeV. The dressed cross section is fitted, assuming a power-law function plus a charmonium(-like) state, i.e., $\psi(3770)$, $\psi(4040)$, $\psi(4160)$, $\psi(4230)$, $\psi(4360)$, $\psi(4415)$ or $\psi(4660)$. No significant charmonium(-like) state decaying into $\Xi^0\bar\Xi^0$ is observed. Upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the product of the branching fraction and the electronic partial width are provided for each decay. In addition, ratios of the Born cross sections and the effective form factors for $e^+e^-\to\Xi^0\bar{\Xi}^0$ and $e^+e^-\to\Xi^-\bar{\Xi}^+$ are also presented to test isospin symmetry and the vector meson dominance model., Comment: 22 pages, 2 tables, 4 figures

37. Microscopic Structural Study on the Growth History of Granular Heaps Prepared by the Raining Method

Abstract: Granular heaps are critical in both industrial applications and natural processes, exhibiting complex behaviors that have sparked significant research interest. The stress dip phenomenon observed beneath granular heaps continues to be a topic of significant debate. Current models based on force transmission often assume that the packing is near the isostatic point, overlooking the critical influence of internal structure and formation history on the mechanical properties of granular heaps. Consequently, these models fail to fully account for diverse observations. In this study, we experimentally explore the structural evolution of three dimensional (3D) granular heaps composed of monodisperse spherical particles prepared using the raining method. Our results reveal the presence of two distinct regions within the heaps, characterized by significant differences in structural properties such as packing fraction, contact number, and contact anisotropy. We attribute these structural variations to the differing formation mechanisms during heap growth. Our findings emphasize the substantial influence of the preparation protocols on the internal structure of granular heaps and provide valuable insights into stress distribution within granular materials. Abstract: Using $(2712.4 \pm 14.3) \times 10^6~\psi$(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, we search for the hadronic transition $h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi$ via $\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c$. No significant signal is observed. We set the most stringent upper limits to date on the branching fractions $\mathcal{B}(\psi(3686)\to \pi^0 h_c)\times\mathcal{B}(h_c\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ and $\mathcal{B}(h_c \to \pi^+\pi^-J/\psi)$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level, which are determined to be $6.7\times 10^{-7}$ and $9.4 \times10^{-4}$, respectively.

Abstract: In this Letter, a systematic study of the weak radiative hyperon decay $\Xi^{0}\to\Lambda\gamma$ at an electron-positron collider using entangled $\Xi^{0}\bar{\Xi}^{0}$ pair events is presented. The absolute branching fraction for this decay has been measured for the first time, and is $\left(1.347 \pm 0.066_{\mathrm stat.}\pm0.054_{\mathrm syst.}\right)\times 10^{-3}$. The decay asymmetry parameter, which characterizes the effect of parity violation in the decay, is determined to be $-0.741 \pm 0.062_{\mathrm stat.}\pm 0.019_{\mathrm syst.}$. The obtained results are consistent with the world average values within the uncertainties, offering valuable insights into the underlying mechanism governing the weak radiative hyperon decays. The charge conjugation parity ($CP$) symmetries of branching fraction and decay asymmetry parameter in the decay are also studied. 40. Topological flat bands in hyperbolic lattices

Abstract: Topological flat bands (TFBs) provide a promising platform to investigate intriguing fractionalization phenomena, such as the fractional Chern insulators (FCIs). Most of TFB models are established in two-dimensional Euclidean lattices with zero curvature. In this work, we systematically explore TFBs in a class of two-dimensional non-Euclidean lattices with constant negative curvature, {\emph i.e.,} the hyperbolic analogs of the kagome lattice. Based on the Abelian hyperbolic band theory, TFBs have been respectively found in the heptagon-kagome, the octagon-kagome, the nonagon-kagome and the decagon-kagome lattices by introducing staggered magnetic fluxes and the next nearest-neighbor hoppings. The flatness ratios of all hyperbolic TFB models are more than 15, which suggests that the hyperbolic FCIs can be realized in these TFB models. We further demonstrate the existence of a $\nu=1/2$ FCI state with open boundary conditions when hard-core bosons fill into these hyperbolic TFB models., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, comments are welcome

41. SFR-GNN: Simple and Fast Robust GNNs against Structural Attacks

Abstract: Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have demonstrated commendable performance for graph-structured data. Yet, GNNs are often vulnerable to adversarial structural attacks as embedding generation relies on graph topology. Existing efforts are dedicated to purifying the maliciously modified structure or applying adaptive aggregation, thereby enhancing the robustness against adversarial structural attacks. It is inevitable for a defender to consume heavy computational costs due to lacking prior knowledge about modified structures. To this end, we propose an efficient defense method, called Simple and Fast Robust Graph Neural Network (SFR-GNN), supported by mutual information theory. The SFR-GNN first pre-trains a GNN model using node attributes and then fine-tunes it over the modified graph in the manner of contrastive learning, which is free of purifying modified structures and adaptive aggregation, thus achieving great efficiency gains. Consequently, SFR-GNN exhibits a 24%--162% speedup compared to advanced robust models, demonstrating superior robustness for node classification tasks.

Abstract: Measurements of the strong-phase difference between $D^0$ and $\bar{D}^0\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ are performed in bins of phase space. The study exploits a sample of quantum-correlated $D\bar{D}$ mesons collected by the BESIII experiment in $e^+e^-$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93~fb$^{-1}$. Here, $D$ denotes a neutral charm meson in a superposition of flavor eigenstates. The reported results are valuable for measurements of the $C\!P$-violating phase $\gamma$ (also denoted $\phi_3$) in $B^\pm \to DK^\pm$, $D \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ decays, and the binning schemes are designed to provide good statistical sensitivity to this parameter. The expected uncertainty on $\gamma$ arising from the precision of the strong-phase measurements, when applied to very large samples of $B$-meson decays, is around $1.5^\circ$ or $2^\circ$, depending on the binning scheme. The binned strong-phase parameters are combined to give a value of $F_+^{4\pi} = 0.746 \pm 0.010 \pm 0.004$ for the $C\!P$-even fraction of $D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ decays, which is around 30\% more precise than the previous best measurement of this quantity.

43. CSGO: Content-Style Composition in Text-to-Image Generation

Abstract: The diffusion model has shown exceptional capabilities in controlled image generation, which has further fueled interest in image style transfer. Existing works mainly focus on training free-based methods (e.g., image inversion) due to the scarcity of specific data. In this study, we present a data construction pipeline for content-style-stylized image triplets that generates and automatically cleanses stylized data triplets. Based on this pipeline, we construct a dataset IMAGStyle, the first large-scale style transfer dataset containing 210k image triplets, available for the community to explore and research. Equipped with IMAGStyle, we propose CSGO, a style transfer model based on end-to-end training, which explicitly decouples content and style features employing independent feature injection. The unified CSGO implements image-driven style transfer, text-driven stylized synthesis, and text editing-driven stylized synthesis. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in enhancing style control capabilities in image generation. 44. LLM-Based Multi-Hop Question Answering with Knowledge Graph Integration in Evolving Environments

Abstract: The rapid obsolescence of information in Large Language Models (LLMs) has driven the development of various techniques to incorporate new facts. However, existing methods for knowledge editing still face difficulties with multi-hop questions that require accurate fact identification and sequential logical reasoning, particularly among numerous fact updates. To tackle these challenges, this paper introduces Graph Memory-based Editing for Large Language Models (GMeLLo), a straitforward and effective method that merges the explicit knowledge representation of Knowledge Graphs (KGs) with the linguistic flexibility of LLMs. Beyond merely leveraging LLMs for question answering, GMeLLo employs these models to convert free-form language into structured queries and fact triples, facilitating seamless interaction with KGs for rapid updates and precise multi-hop reasoning. Our results show that GMeLLo significantly surpasses current state-of-the-art knowledge editing methods in the multi-hop question answering benchmark, MQuAKE, especially in scenarios with extensive knowledge edits.

45. Dynamic compensation for pump-induced frequency shift in Kerr-cat qubit initialization

Abstract: The noise-biased Kerr-cat qubit is an attractive candidate for fault-tolerant quantum computation; however, its initialization faces challenges due to the squeezing pump-induced frequency shift (PIFS). Here, we propose and demonstrate a dynamic compensation method to mitigate the effect of PIFS during the Kerr-cat qubit initialization. Utilizing a novel nonlinearity-engineered triple-loop SQUID device, we realize a stabilized Kerr-cat qubit and validate the advantages of the dynamic compensation method by improving the initialization fidelity from 57% to 78%, with a projected fidelity of 91% after excluding state preparation and measurement errors. Our results not only advance the practical implementation of Kerr-cat qubits, but also provide valuable insights into the fundamental adiabatic dynamics of these systems. This work paves the way for scalable quantum processors that leverage the bias-preserving properties of Kerr-cat qubits.

46. CSRec: Rethinking Sequential Recommendation from A Causal Perspective

Abstract: The essence of sequential recommender systems (RecSys) lies in understanding how users make decisions. Most existing approaches frame the task as sequential prediction based on users' historical purchase records. While effective in capturing users' natural preferences, this formulation falls short in accurately modeling actual recommendation scenarios, particularly in accounting for how unsuccessful recommendations influence future purchases. Furthermore, the impact of the RecSys itself on users' decisions has not been appropriately isolated and quantitatively analyzed. To address these challenges, we propose a novel formulation of sequential recommendation, termed Causal Sequential Recommendation (CSRec). Instead of predicting the next item in the sequence, CSRec aims to predict the probability of a recommended item's acceptance within a sequential context and backtrack how current decisions are made. Critically, CSRec facilitates the isolation of various factors that affect users' final decisions, especially the influence of the recommender system itself, thereby opening new avenues for the design of recommender systems. CSRec can be seamlessly integrated into existing methodologies. Experimental evaluations on both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed implementation significantly improves upon state-of-the-art baselines.

47. Photoproduction $\gamma p \to f_0(980) p$ in an effective Lagrangian approach

Abstract: The most recent data on differential cross sections and photon beam asymmetries $\Sigma$ from the LEPS2/BGOegg Collaboration for the $\gamma p \to f_0(980) p$ reaction are analyzed within a tree-level effective Lagrangian approach. The $t$-channel $\rho$ and $\omega$ exchanges, the $u$- and $s$-channel $N$ exchanges, the interaction current, and the possible $s$-channel $N^*$ exchanges are taken into account in constructing the reaction amplitudes to reproduce the data. The results show that the contributions from either the $N(2040)3/2^+$ or the $N(2100)1/2^+$ resonance exchange in the $s$ channel are necessarily required to describe the LEPS2/BGOegg data and they dominate the differential cross sections of $\gamma p \to f_0(980) p$. Further analysis shows that the contributions from the $t$-channel $\rho$ and $\omega$ exchanges and the interaction current are rather small to both differential cross sections and photo beam asymmetries, and the contributions from $u$-channel $N$ exchange are considerable in the case of including $N(2040)3/2^+$ in the model while negligible in the case of including $N(2100)1/2^+$ in the model. 48. Spin-wave assisted synchronization in 2D arrays of spin torque oscillators

Abstract: Synchronization of coupled oscillators is a fundamental phenomenon that has been observed in many natural and engineered systems, ranging from biological cells to electronic circuits. In recent years, spin torque nano-oscillators (STNOs) have emerged as a promising platform for a variety of applications in nanoscale systems such as neuromorphic computing, due to their compact size, low power consumption, and tunable properties. However, achieving synchronization in a large array of STNOs remains a challenge, for the complexity of the interactions between the oscillators. To address this challenge, we report on the achievement of synchronization across a 2D array of STNOs. We designed a honeycomb model that created a network of interactions among the oscillators that only involved nearest neighbors. Using micromagnetic simulations, we demonstrated the effectiveness of our design and observed that global synchronization across the whole array. Such global synchronization can also be tuned by enable/disenable next-nearest neighbor interactions. We also found that our design enables synchronization at room temperature, which is crucial for practical applications. Our work contributes to the growing body of research on the synchronization of coupled oscillators in spintronics and could pave the way for the development of new types of spintronic devices and potential applications.

49. Active learning of digenic functions with boolean matrix logic programming

Abstract: We apply logic-based machine learning techniques to facilitate cellular engineering and drive biological discovery, based on comprehensive databases of metabolic processes called genome-scale metabolic network models (GEMs). Predicted host behaviours are not always correctly described by GEMs. Learning the intricate genetic interactions within GEMs presents computational and empirical challenges. To address these, we describe a novel approach called Boolean Matrix Logic Programming (BMLP) by leveraging boolean matrices to evaluate large logic programs. We introduce a new system, $BMLP_{active}$, which efficiently explores the genomic hypothesis space by guiding informative experimentation through active learning. In contrast to sub-symbolic methods, $BMLP_{active}$ encodes a state-of-the-art GEM of a widely accepted bacterial host in an interpretable and logical representation using datalog logic programs. Notably, $BMLP_{active}$ can successfully learn the interaction between a gene pair with fewer training examples than random experimentation, overcoming the increase in experimental design space. $BMLP_{active}$ enables rapid optimisation of metabolic models and offers a realistic approach to a self-driving lab for microbial engineering., Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:2405.06724

50. Boolean Matrix Logic Programming

Abstract: We describe a datalog query evaluation approach based on efficient and composable boolean matrix manipulation modules. We first define an overarching problem, Boolean Matrix Logic Programming (BMLP), which uses boolean matrices as an alternative computation to evaluate datalog programs. We develop two novel BMLP modules for bottom-up inferences on linear dyadic recursive datalog programs, and show how additional modules can extend this capability to compute both linear and non-linear recursive datalog programs of arity two. Our empirical results demonstrate that these modules outperform general-purpose and specialised systems by factors of 30x and 9x, respectively, when evaluating large programs with millions of facts. This boolean matrix approach significantly enhances the efficiency of datalog querying to support logic programming techniques.
