Given an autonomous second-order ordinary differential equation (ODE), we define a Riemannian metric on an open subset of the first-order jet bundle. A relationship is established between the solutions of the ODE and the geodesic curves with respect to the defined metric. We introduce the notion of energy foliation for autonomous ODEs, and highlight its connection to the classical energy concept. Additionally, we explore the geometry of the leaves of the foliation. Finally, the results are applied to the analysis of Lagrangian mechanical systems. In particular, we provide an autonomous Lagrangian for the damped harmonic oscillator.

3. Vademecum of Artificial Intelligence Tools Applied to the Teaching of Languages

- Abstract
A qualitative documentary research of software and multimedia artificial intelligences was chosen to enable the ontological understanding of the object of study that aims to explore the potential for learning through Artificial Intelligence (AI). Besides, it is shown how AI, as a novel component within the digital education landscape, contributes to educational technological capital. In light of our research area, the focus is on determining how AI can be harnessed to enhance the development of communicative competence. This entails identifying and categorizing AI tools relevant to language didactics. The sample size for this study is 120 AI applications, sourcing and compiling data on AI tools from specialized websites. This sample serves as a paradigm justifying a mixed-method study capable of combining quantitative and qualitative data. The variables supporting this study consider four characteristics related to the specific typify of the digital tool in the pedagogical context. The first aspect pertains to the classification of generative AI tools with potential educational use. AI tools enriches and enhances the dimensions of learning underscoring the urgent need for literacy in this technology. The second variable was linked to the Pedagogical Competences of Teachers and the areas. The category in language education pertains to educators' ability to create, adapt, and employ digital resources that enhance language teaching and learning. The third and fourth identify the skills related to language learning. In the context of learning environments with AI tools, it is essential to contemplate the role of linguistic competence as subordinate to communicative competence.

In this paper, a novel approach based on robust stability concepts and tools is introduced to evaluate the unconditional stability of microwave active $\textit{n}$-port devices. An efficient calculation of the Structured Singular Value of the $\textit{n}$x$\textit{n}$ scattering matrix is proposed to obtain the stability characteristics of the device. The presented method is validated in two ways. First, it is applied to a referential 4x4 scattering parameter set for independent verification. Second, the method is applied to a 4-port GaAs FET amplifier fabricated in hybrid technology. The results confirm the validity and computational efficiency of the proposed approach.

A new class of vector fields enabling the integration of first-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) is introduced. These vector fields are not, in general, Lie point symmetries. The results are based on a relation between 2-dimensional Riemannian manifolds and the integrability of first-order ODEs, which was established in a previous work of the authors. An integration procedure is provided, together with several examples to illustrate it. A connection between integrating factors of first-order ODEs and Schr\"odinger-type equations is highlighted.

A link between first-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and 2-dimensional Riemannian manifolds is explored. Given a first-order ODE, an associated Riemannian metric on the variable space is defined, and some properties of the resulting surface are studied, including a connection between Jacobi fields and Lie point symmetries. In particular, it is proven that if the associated surface is flat, then the ODE can be integrated by quadratures. Next, deformations of the associated surfaces are considered. A relation between some Jacobi fields on the deformed surface and integrability of the ODE is established, showing that there is a class of vector fields, beyond Lie point symmetries, which are useful for solving first-order ODEs. As a result, it is concluded that the deformation into a constant curvature surface leads to the integrability of the given ODE.

This paper introduces a (3+1)-dimensional dispersionless integrable system, utilizing a Lax pair involving contact vector fields, in alignment with methodologies presented by A. Sergyeyev in 2018. Significantly, it is shown that the proposed system serves as an integrable (3+1)-dimensional generalization of the well-studied (2+1)-dimensional dispersionless Davey-Stewartson system. This way, an interesting new example on integrability in higher dimensions is presented, with potential applications in modern mathematical physics. The work lays the foundation for future research into symmetries, conservation laws, and Hamiltonian structures, offering avenues for further exploration.

Several integrability problems of differential equations are addressed by using the concept of $\mathcal{C}^{\infty}$-structure, a recent generalization of the notion of solvable structure. Specifically, the integration procedure associated with $\mathcal{C}^{\infty}$-structures is used to integrate to a Lotka-Volterra model and several differential equations that lack sufficient Lie point symmetries and cannot be solved using conventional methods.

For a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) or, more generally, an involutive distribution of vector fields, the problem of its integration is considered. Among the many approaches to this problem, solvable structures provide a systematic procedure of integration via Pfaffian equations that are integrable by quadratures. In this paper structures more general than solvable structures (named cinf-structures) are considered. The symmetry condition in the concept of solvable structure is weakened for cinf-structures by requiring their vector fields be just cinf-symmetries. For cinf-structures there is also an integration procedure, but the corresponding Pfaffian equations, although completely integrable, are not necessarily integrable by quadratures. The well-known result on the relationship between integrating factors and Lie point symmetries for first-order ODEs is generalized for cinf-structures and involutive distributions of arbitrary corank by introducing symmetrizing factors. The role of these symmetrizing factors on the integrability by quadratures of the Pfaffian equations associated with the \cinf-structure is also established. Some examples that show how these objects and results can be applied in practice are also presented.

A partir de la pandemia COVID-19, el uso de la virtualidad en la educación tomó dimensiones diversas, siendo el modelo pedagógico más empleado para garantizar el derecho a la educación y su permanencia en diversas locaciones geográficas. Empero, el tema de la inclusión sigue siendo un escenario que amerita discusión, en tanto las herramientas digitales y la virtualidad brindan los espacios necesarios para dinamizar el saber, para hacer de los aprendizajes autónomos, para la integración de las tecnologías a las aulas de clase, dando un rol protagónico al alumnado, donde este decide el ritmo de su formación académica. Ahora bien, también se encuentra la otra faceta de esta realidad, donde garantizar el acceso y participación de docentes y estudiantes a la virtualidad es un escenario irresuelto, concatenado a una serie de asimetrías sociales que crean condiciones de vulnerabilidad, exclusión y de nuevas asimetrías sociales. En virtud de lo anterior, el presente ensayo explora el papel de la virtualidad dentro de la educación, en tanto se considera una herramienta paradójica, pero necesaria para el desenvolvimiento de la academia en el siglo XXI.

The research explored the chemical characteristics of essential oils (EOs) extracted from the peels of four citrus fruits grown in northeastern Peru (lime, sweet lemon, mandarin and orange). The essential oils were extracted by hydrodistillation using a green solvent, and subsequently, their physicochemical profile, bioactive, heat capacity, and RAMAN mapping were determined; in addition, the volatile composition was determined by gas chromatography (GC-MS), and the main phenols by liquid chromatography (UHPLC). The results evidenced that sweet lemon and mandarin essential oils had higher antioxidant activity (1592.38 and 1216.13 μmol TE/g) and total phenolic content (680.78 and 420.28 mg GAE/g). In contrast, sweet lemon peel essential oil had the highest total flavonoid content (23.18 mg QE/g). D-limonene was the most abundant aromatic compound in orange (>67 %), mandarin (>70 %), and sweet lemon (>72 %) EOs; however, in the lime, it was the lowest (37 %). The most abundant component was the cyclobutane, 1,2-bis(1-methylethylethylenyl)-, trans- (32 %).

Son muchas las comunidades rurales que se enfrentan a un nuevo contexto marcado por la despoblación, hasta el punto de situarlas al borde de su abandono. Otras, por razones diferentes, también afrontan un proceso de desestructuración. Este es el caso del medio rural vasco, sometido a las tensiones producidas por un medio urbano próximo. Para hacer frente a este problema, el País Vasco aprueba una nueva ley de desarrollo rural, potenciando un modelo de intervención que pretende ser más agil. Para ello, zonificar el espacio rural como medio para señalar los territorios que mayor problemática y menos opciones de intervención tienen es fundamental. El trabajo desarrolla una propuesta sustentada en una combinación de variables geográficas, económicas, demográficas y sociales reunidas a partir de indicadores compuestos y en una zonificación planteada en diferentes pasos, desde la delimitación de todo su medio rural hasta la graduación de la intervención en función de objetivos y microunidades territoriales, coincidentes con las entidades singulares de población. El conocimiento del territorio y el contraste de los resultados con los agentes rurales, desde los regionales a los locales, identifican un modelo caracterizado por tratar de definir el grado de incidencia de la ciudad en el espacio rural.

Abstract Background Bovine genital campylobacteriosis (BGC) is caused by Campylobacter fetus subsp. venerealis (Cfv) including its biovar intermedius (Cfvi). This sexually transmitted disease induces early reproductive failure causing considerable economic losses in the cattle industry. Using a collection of well-characterized isolates (n = 13), C. fetus field isolates (n = 64) and saprophytic isolates resembling Campylobacter (n = 75) obtained from smegma samples of breeding bulls, this study evaluated the concordance of the most used phenotypic (H2S production in cysteine medium and 1% glycine tolerance) and molecular (PCR) methods for the diagnosis of BGC and assessed possible cross-reactions in the molecular diagnostic methods. Results Characterization at the subspecies level (fetus vs. venerealis) of C. fetus isolated from bull preputial samples using phenotypic and molecular (PCR targeting nahE and ISCfe1) methods showed moderate concordance (κ = 0.462; CI: 0.256–0.669). No cross-reactions were observed with other saprophytic microaerophilic species or with other Campylobacter species that can be present in preputial samples. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) of discrepant isolates showed 100% agreement with PCR identification. For the differentiation of Cfv biovars, comparison of the H2S test (at 72 h and 5 days of incubation) and a PCR targeting the L-cysteine transporter genes showed higher concordance when H2S production was assessed after 5 days (72 h; κ = 0.553, 0.329–0.778 CI vs. 5 days; κ = 0.881, 0.631–1 CI), evidencing the efficacy of a longer incubation time. Conclusions This study confirmed the limitations of biochemical tests to correctly identify C. fetus subspecies and biovars. However, in the case of biovars, when extended incubation times for the H2S test (5 days) were used, phenotypic identification results were significantly improved, although PCR-based methods produced more accurate results. Perfect agreement of WGS with the PCR results and absence of cross-reactions with non-C. fetus saprophytic bacteria from the smegma demonstrated the usefulness of these methods. Nevertheless, the identification of new C. fetus subspecies-specific genes would help to improve BGC diagnosis.

Lightwave periodic driving of nearly dissipation-less currents has recently emerged as a universal control concept for both superconducting (SC) and topological electronics applications. While exciting progress has been made towards THz-driven superconductivity, our understanding of the interactions able to drive non-equilibrium pairing is still limited, partially due to the lack of direct measurements of high-order correlation functions. Such measurements would exceed conventional single-particle spectroscopies and perturbative responses to fully characterize quantum states far-from-equilibrium. Particularly, sensing of the exotic collective modes that would uniquely characterize lightwave-driven SC coherence, in a way analogous to the Meissner effect, is very challenging but much needed. Here we report the discovery of lightwave-controlled superconductivity via parametric time-periodic driving of the strongly-coupled bands in iron-based superconductors by a unique phase-amplitude collective mode assisted by broken-symmetry THz supercurrents. We are able to measure non-perturbative, high-order correlations in this strongly-driven superconductivity by separating the THz multi-dimensional coherent spectra into conventional pump-probe, Higgs collective mode, and pronounced bi--Higgs frequency sideband peaks with highly nonlinear field dependence. We attribute the drastic transition in the coherent spectra to parametric excitation of time-dependent pseudo--spin canting states modulated by a phase-amplitude collective mode that manifests as a strongly nonlinear shift from $\omega_\mathrm{Higgs}$ to 2$\omega_\mathrm{Higgs}$. Remarkably, the latter higher--order sidebands dominate over the lower-order pump-probe and Higgs mode peaks above critical field, which indicates the breakdown of the susceptibility perturbative expansion in the parametrically-driven SC state.

This study was conducted to determine the histopathological features of the small intestines and to quantify lactic acid bacterial population in the ceca of broiler chickens supplemented with varying doses of plectasin, an antimicrobial peptide with gut health- promoting potentials. This research was done by supplementing broiler chickens with varying doses (150 ppm, 300 ppm and 450 ppm) of plectasin alongside negative and positive control groups. Small intestinal samples showed decreased occurrence and severity of histopathological lesions from the duodenum to the ileum. The occurrence of duodenal lesions such villi necrosis, de-epithelization of villi, haemorrhage and inflammation, observed in the duodenum decreased with supplementation of plectasin, which demonstrated its potential in promoting the structural integrity of the small intestines. On the other hand, microbial enumeration resulted in lower total lactic acid bacteria count in treatment groups supplemented with plectasin, demonstrating its inability to enhance beneficial microbiota, but may be suggestive of improved intestinal absorptive capacity based on the concept of competitive exclusion.

18. The socioeconomic status of patients with ankylosing spondylitis and its association with the burden of the disease and permanent disability: a cross-sectional cluster analysis

Background: Few studies have been conducted to investigate the socioeconomic profiles of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and their associations with disease severity and disability. Objectives: The objectives of this study were to identify clusters of patients with AS according to their socioeconomic characteristics and to evaluate the associations between these clusters and the severity of the disease and permanent disability. Design: This was a cross-sectional and multicentre study. Methods: Patients with AS from the REGISPONSER study were included in this analysis. A cluster analysis was conducted using information on sociodemographic (age, sex, race, marital status, education) and socioeconomic (employment, profession, housing conditions and social level) characteristics. Disease burden and permanent disability were compared between the different clusters using logistic regression adjusted for disease duration and disease activity. Results: A total of 866 patients with AS were included. Two clusters were identified according to socioeconomic characteristics: Cluster 1 ( n = 476), with a predominantly low socioeconomic profile, and Cluster 2 ( n = 390), with a predominantly high socioeconomic profile. After adjusting for disease duration, patients in Cluster 1 had a longer diagnosis delay, greater body mass index and greater structural damage than those in Cluster 2. Access to biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) was similar for both groups. However, patients in Cluster 1 had a greater prevalence of permanent disability than those in Cluster 2 after adjusting for disease duration and disease activity (30.8% vs 13.2%, odds ratio 2.58 (95% confidence interval 1.76–3.83)). Conclusion: This study suggests that the socioeconomic status of patients with AS may have implications for disease severity and permanent disability, despite the similar use of bDMARDs.

An extension of the notion of solvable structure for involutive distributions of vector fields is introduced. The new structures are based on a generalization of the concept of symmetry of a distribution of vector fields, inspired in the extension of Lie point symmetries to $\mathcal{C}^{\infty}$-symmetries for ODEs developed in the recent years. These new objects, named $\mathcal{C}^{\infty}$-structures, play a fundamental role in the integrability of the distribution: the knowledge of a $\mathcal{C}^{\infty}$-structure for a corank $k$ involutive distribution permits to find its integral manifolds by solving $k$ successive completely integrable Pfaffian equations. These results have important consequences for the integrability of differential equations. In particular, we derive a new procedure to integrate an $m$th-order ordinary differential equation by splitting the problem into $m$ completely integrable Pfaffian equations. This step-by-step integration procedure is applied to integrate completely several equations that cannot be solved by standard procedures.

Objective: To conduct a proof-of-concept study of the detection of two synthetic models of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) using polarimetric imaging. Methods: Two SARS-CoV-2 models were prepared as engineered lentiviruses pseudotyped with the G protein of the vesicular stomatitis virus, and with the characteristic Spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. Samples were preparations in two biofluids (saline solution and artificial saliva), in four concentrations, and deposited as 5-{\mu}L droplets on a supporting plate. The angles of maximal degree of linear polarization (DLP) of light diffusely scattered from dry residues were determined using Mueller polarimetry of 87 samples at 405 nm and 514 nm. A polarimetric camera was used for simultaneous imaging of several samples under 380-420 nm illumination at angles similar to those of maximal DLP. A per-pixel image analysis included quantification and combination of polarization feature descriptors in other 475 samples. Results: The angles (from sample surface) of maximal DLP were 3 degrees for 405 nm and 6 degrees for 514 nm. Similar viral particles that differ only in the characteristic spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2, their corresponding negative controls, fluids, and the sample holder were discerned from polarimetric image analysis at 10-degree and 15-degree configurations. Conclusion: Polarimetric imaging in the visible spectrum has the potential for non-contact, reagent-free detection of viruses in multiple dry fluid residues simultaneously. Further analysis including real SARS-CoV-2 in human samples -- particularly, fresh saliva -- are required. Significance: Polarimetric imaging under visible light could contribute to fast, cost-effective screening of SARS-CoV-2 and other pathogens.

21. Information Integration Cognitive Mechanisms Underlying the Face-to-Face or Online Statistics Test Anxiety Judgments of Engineering Students

This study examined information integration cognitive mechanisms underlying the test anxiety judgments of 474 engineering students. The experimental design considered the orthogonal combination of three factors (teaching style, exam type, and test mode), resulting in 12 experimental scenarios. During the experiments, participants were provided one scenario at a time and were asked to rate their anticipated anxiety level in the described situation. Subsequent analyses failed to reveal statistically significant differences in the anxiety levels reported by females and males. However, the factor selection and valuation female students adopted to make their anxiety judgments differed from those employed by their male peers. Cluster analysis identified three groups based on the anxiety level (low, medium, and high). The most relevant factor for all clusters was test mode, and only the medium anxiety group considered a second factor (exam type) to make their anxiety judgments, which was integrated through an additive cognitive rule. These findings suggest that participants place a higher weight on the examination context than its type when making their test anxiety judgments. Identifying these cognitive mechanisms underlying test anxiety could help regulate conditions that undermine the students' ability to cope with test anxiety.

Abstract Campylobacter fetus comprises two closely related mammal-associated subspecies: Campylobacter fetus subsp. fetus (Cff) and Campylobacter fetus subsp. venerealis (Cfv). The latter causes bovine genital campylobacteriosis, a sexually-transmitted disease endemic in Spain that results in significant economic losses in the cattle industry. Here, 33 C. fetus Spanish isolates were whole-genome sequenced and compared with 62 publicly available C. fetus genomes from other countries. Genome-based taxonomic identification revealed high concordance with in silico PCR, confirming Spanish isolates as Cff (n = 4), Cfv (n = 9) and Cfv biovar intermedius (Cfvi, n = 20). MLST analysis assigned the Spanish isolates to 6 STs, including three novel: ST-76 and ST-77 for Cfv and ST-78 for Cff. Core genome SNP phylogenetic analysis of the 95 genomes identified multiple clusters, revealing associations at subspecies and biovar level between genomes with the same ST and separating the Cfvi genomes from Spain and other countries. A genome-wide association study identified pqqL as a Cfv-specific gene and a potential candidate for more accurate identification methods. Functionality analysis revealed variations in the accessory genome of C. fetus subspecies and biovars that deserve further studies. These results provide valuable information about the regional variants of C. fetus present in Spain and the genetic diversity and predicted functionality of the different subspecies.

Los resultados indican la necesidad de apostar por proyectos literarios desde una perspectiva de género, así como la incentivación de la escritura creativa en el alumnado como medio de expresión compartido.

Introduction: Activation of the focal adhesion kinase (FAK) in podocytes is involved in the pathogenesis of minimal change disease (MCD), but the pathway leading to its activation in this disease is unknown. Here, we tested whether podocyte β1 integrin is the upstream modulator of FAK activation and podocyte injury in experimental models of MCD-like injury. Methods: We used lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and MCD sera to induce MCD-like changes in vivo and in cultured human podocytes, respectively. We performed functional studies using specific β1 integrin inhibitors in vivo and in vitro, and integrated histological analysis, western blotting, and immunofluorescence to assess for morphological and molecular changes in podocytes. By ELISA, we measured serum LPS levels in 35 children with MCD or presumed MCD (idiopathic nephrotic syndrome [INS]) and in 18 healthy controls. Results: LPS-injected mice showed morphological (foot process effacement, and normal appearing glomeruli on light microscopy) and molecular features (synaptopodin loss, nephrin mislocalization, FAK phosphorylation) characteristic of human MCD. Administration of a β1 integrin inhibitor to mice abrogated FAK phosphorylation, and ameliorated proteinuria and podocyte injury following LPS. Children with MCD/INS in relapse had higher serum LPS levels than controls. In cultured human podocytes, β1 integrin blockade prevented cytoskeletal rearrangements following exposure to MCD sera in relapse. Conclusions: Podocyte β1 integrin activation is an upstream mediator of FAK phosphorylation and podocyte injury in models of MCD-like injury. Resumen: Antecedentes: La activación de la quinasa de adhesión focal (FAK) en podocitos juega un papel en la patogénesis de la enfermedad de cambios mínimos (ECM), pero su mecanismo de activación en dicha enfermedad es desconocido. En este estudio investigamos si la integrina β1 de los podocitos modula la activación de FAK y del daño podocitario en modelos experimentales de la ECM. Métodos: Utilizamos lipopolisacárido (LPS) y suero de pacientes con ECM para inducir daño podocitario in vivo e in vitro, respectivamente. Realizamos estudios funcionales usando inhibidores específicos de la integrina β1 in vivo e in vitro, así como estudios histológicos, western blots y técnicas de inmunofluorescencia para evaluar cambios morfológicos y moleculares en podocitos. Usando ELISA medimos los niveles séricos de LPS en 35 niños con ECM o sospecha de ECM (síndrome nefrótico idiopático [SNI]) y en 18 individuos sanos. Resultados: Los ratones inyectados con LPS desarrollaron cambios morfológicos (fusión de pedicelos, con apariencia normal de los glomérulos) y moleculares (pérdida de la expresión de sinaptopodina, cambio en la localización de la nefrina fosforilada y fosforilzación de FAK), que son característicos de la ECM en humanos. La administración de un inhibidor de la integrina β1 en ratones disminuyó la fosforilación de FAK, proteinuria y daño podocitario que ocurre tras la inyección de LPS. En niños con ECM/SNI, los niveles séricos de LPS fueron más elevados que en controles. En cultivos de podocitos humanos, la adicción de un inhibidor de la integrina β1 al suero de niños con ECM en recaída evitó cambios en el citoesqueleto. Conclusiones: La integrina β1 de los podocitos actúa como mediador de la activación de la FAK y del daño podocitario en modelos experimentales de la ECM.

Introducción/objetivo: la economía informal se suele presentar como una entrada al emprendimiento, donde el único objetivo para los emprendedores es la de salir adelante, pasando por encima de las leyes impuestas en el país. Este estudio tiene como finalidad determinar la percepción de los comerciantes sobre la relación entre la informalidad de las empresas de la región Lima Provincias y el desempeño de la economía del Perú. Metodología: se desarrolló un estudio cuantitativo, de diseño no experimental transeccional y alcance correlacional. Se elaboró y administró un cuestionario a los dueños de 380 empresas informales ubicadas en la región Lima Provincias, con un margen de error del 5 % y un nivel de confianza del 95 %. Resultados: mediante el estadístico no paramétrico de Rho de Spearman, se halló una correlación negativa y significativa de −0.415 (p < 0.05) para la percepción de la informalidad empresarial y la economía. Conclusiones: se comprobó que a medida que la percepción de los comerciantes de la región Lima Provincias sobre la informalidad empresarial aumenta, la evaluación de estos sobre la economía tiende a disminuir. Introduction/Objective: The informal economy is often presented as a gateway to entrepreneurship, where the only objective for entrepreneurs is to get ahead, bypassing the laws imposed in the country. The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of traders on the relationship between the informality of businesses in the Lima Provinces region and the performance of the Peruvian economy. Methodology: A quantitative study was developed, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and correlational scope. A questionnaire was prepared and administered to the owners of 380 informal enterprises located in the Lima Provinces region, with a margin of error of 5 % and a confidence level of 95 %. Results: Using Spearman’s non-parametric Rho statistic, a negative and significant correlation of −0.415 (p < 0.05) was found for the perception of business informality and the economy. Conclusions: It was found that as the perception of traders in the Lima Provinces Region regarding business informality increases, their evaluation of the economy tends to decrease.

Given an autonomous second-order ordinary differential equation (ODE), we define a Riemannian metric on an open subset of the first-order jet bundle. A relationship is established between the solutions of the ODE and the geodesic curves with respect to the defined metric. We introduce the notion of energy foliation for autonomous ODEs and highlight its connection to the classical energy concept. Additionally, we explore the geometry of the leaves of the foliation. Finally, the results are applied to the analysis of Lagrangian mechanical systems. In particular, we provide an autonomous Lagrangian for a damped harmonic oscillator.

The intraspecific variability among Neospora caninum isolates in their in vitro behaviour and in vivo virulence has been widely studied. In particular, transcriptomic and proteomic analyses have shown a higher expression/abundance of specific genes/proteins in high-virulence isolates. Consequently, the dense granule protein NcGRA7 and the rhoptry protein NcROP40 were proposed as potential virulence factors. The objective of this study was to characterize the role of these proteins using CRISPR/Cas9 knockout (KO) parasites in a well-established pregnant BALB/c mouse model of N. caninum infection at midgestation. The deletion of NcGRA7 and NcROP40 was associated with a reduction of virulence, as infected dams displayed milder clinical signs, lower parasite burdens in the brain, and reduced mortality rates compared to those infected with the wild-type parasite (Nc-Spain7). Specifically, those infected with the NcGRA7 KO parasites displayed significantly milder clinical signs and a lower brain parasite burden. The median survival time of the pups from dams infected with the two KO parasites was significantly increased, but differences in neonatal mortality rates were not detected. Overall, the present study indicates that the disruption of NcGRA7 considerably impairs virulence in mice, while the impact of NcROP40 deletion was more modest. Further research is needed to understand the role of these virulence factors during N. caninum infection.

29. 'I Repeat the Question Porque No Me Entero': The Use of L1 in the Didactics of EFL Teaching Class by Pre-Service Primary Education Teachers

- Abstract
This work analyses the use of Spanish (mother tongue) by pre-service teachers (N=55) during a class activity that consists of explaining and solving Primary Education (6-12) mathematical problems in English (foreign language). The objectives are established in the form of three research questions about the amount of frequency of Spanish; its functional categories according to the original classification of De la Campa and Nassaji (2009); and the lack of competence in English of the participants. This is a mixed-method research since it includes both quantitative and qualitative data, collected through a questionnaire; the recordings of the pre-service teachers' discourse; and a virtual interview. The novelty of the study lies in a new functional category: lack of foreign language competence, which precedes others such as personal comment, activity instruction, arbitrary code-mixing, and translation, for instance. Likewise, 78.18% used Spanish at least once during the activity, although this is limited to 2.13/person. This works sheds light not only on the low amount of Spanish but especially on its functional categories, revealing a lack of language competence and pedagogical skills among the pre-service teachers. The paper ends with some recommendations for language teachers.

We observe pronounced oscillations in differential reflectivity of 9 nm and 60 nm BaFe\textsubscript{2}As\textsubscript{2} (Ba-122) thin films using ultrafast optical spectroscopy. Our studies show that the oscillations result from propagating longitudinal acoustic (LA) phonon wave packets with strong thickness and temperature dependence. Particularly, the experimentally measured oscillation frequency approaches to 50 GHz for the ultra-thin film. Our calculations show that Young's modulus of 9 nm thin film is nearly four times as large as that of 60 nm thin film, consistent with the experiment. The increase in Young's modulus as thickness decrease was attributed to the decrease in parent Ba-122 tetragonality $c/a$ near the film-substrate interface due to material-substrate mismatch effect. %Temperature dependence of LA phonon mode frequency for 9 nm Ba-122 thin film is reported. The temperature-dependent change in LA phonon frequency was attributed to the change in parent Ba-122 othorhombicity $(a-b)/(a+b)$.

Emergent superconductivity is strongly correlated with the symmetry of local atomic configuration in the parent compounds of iron-based superconductors. While chemical doping or hydrostatic pressure can change the local geometry, these conventional approaches do not provide a clear pathway in tuning the detailed atomic arrangement predictably, due to the parent compounds complicated structural deformation in the presence of the tetragonal-to-orthorhombic phase transition. Here, we demonstrate a systematic approach to manipulate the local structural configurations in BaFe2As2 epitaxial thin films by controlling two independent structural factors orthorhombicity (in-plane anisotropy) and tetragonality (out-of-plane/in-plane balance) from lattice parameters. We tune superconductivity without chemical doping utilizing both structural factors separately, controlling local tetrahedral coordination in designed thin film heterostructures with substrate clamping and bi-axial strain. We further show that this allows quantitative control of both the structural phase transition, associated magnetism, and superconductivity in the parent material BaFe2As2. This approach will advance the development of tunable thin film superconductors in reduced dimension.

Los criterios socio-jurídicos para su reconocimiento, la problemática implícita en la administración pública sobre el conviviente supérstite y las posibles propuestas de solución. 2. Los pronunciamientos por parte del Ministerio de Justicia y Derechos Humanos, así como de la Defensoría del Pueblo, organismos que han emitido posiciones conjuntas, con el fin de garantizar el reconocimiento a este derecho. 3. Los derechos específicos que guardan concordancia con la Constitución Política y el Código Civil, siendo imprescindible delimitar conceptualmente los derechos por la connotación, no sólo a la pareja, sino también a sus familiares y terceros. El estudio se basa en una propuesta analítica-descriptiva. Se concluye en la relevancia del reconocimiento de los derechos sucesorios en las uniones LGBTIQ+ por parte del Estado peruano, como medio de garantizar la protección de los derechos humanos y las libertades civiles de los individuos.

As for many other organisms, CRISPR-Cas9 mediated genetic modification has gained increasing importance for the identification of vaccine candidates and drug targets in Neospora caninum, an apicomplexan parasite causing abortion in cattle and neuromuscular disease in dogs. A widely used approach for generating knock-out (KO) strains devoid of virulence factors is the integration of a drug selectable marker such as mutated dihydrofolate reductase-thymidylate synthase (mdhfr-ts) into the target gene, thus preventing the synthesis of respective protein and mediating resistance to pyrimethamine. However, CRISPR-Cas9 mutagenesis is not free of off-target effects, which can lead to integration of multiple mdhfr-ts copies into other sites of the genome. To determine the number of integrated mdhfr-ts in N. caninum, a duplex quantitative TaqMan PCR was developed. For this purpose, primers were designed that amplifies a 106 bp fragment from wild-type (WT) parasites corresponding to the single copy wtdhfrs-ts gene, as well as the mutated mdhfrs-ts present in KO parasites that confers resistance and were used simultaneously with primers amplifying the diagnostic NC5 gene. Thus, the dhfr-ts to NC5 ratio should be approximately 1 in WT parasites, while in KO parasites with a single integrated mdhrf-ts gene this ratio is doubled, and in case of multiple integration events even higher. This approach was applied to the Neospora KO strains NcΔGRA7 and NcΔROP40. For NcΔGRA7, the number of tachyzoites determined by dhfr-ts quantification was twice the number of tachyzoites determined by NC5 quantification, thus indicating that only one mdhfr-ts copy was integrated. The results obtained with the NcΔROP40 strain, however, showed that the number of dhfr-ts copies per genome was substantially higher, indicating that at least three copies of the selectable mdhfr-ts marker were integrated into the genomic DNA during gene editing by CRISPR-Cas9. This duplex TaqMan-qPCR provides a reliable and easy-to-use tool for assessing CRISPR-Cas9 mediated mutagenesis in WT N. caninum strains.

The cone geometry has a great significant for heat transmission in many industrial processes due to its ability to induce turbulence, enable directional flow, promote uniform temperature distribution, and offer versatility in applications. The current study aims to investigate the heat transport process of an inclined magnetized cross hybrid nanofluid over a heated porous cone under the influence of Hall and Ion slip consequences. Additionally, porous medium the flow is past under the effect of inclined uniform magnetic field and porosity of the medium is used to enhance heat transfer. The framed set of governing equations took the form of dimension free structure through appropriate transformations and then finally solved by an effective spectral relaxation method. Thermal impacts and heat transport mechanism associated with the hybrid flow is seen through different values of emerging parameters. Heat transport is seen higher with higher radiation parameters, as radiation and rising temperature are similar. Background: X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH) is a rare, progressive disorder characterized by excess fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), causing renal phosphate-wasting and impaired active vitamin D synthesis. Burosumab is a recombinant human monoclonal antibody that inhibits FGF23, restoring patient serum phosphate levels. Safety data on long-term burosumab treatment are currently limited. Objectives: This post-authorization safety study (PASS) aims to monitor long-term safety outcomes in children and adolescents (1–17 years) treated with burosumab for XLH. This first interim analysis reports the initial PASS safety outcomes. Design: A 10-year retrospective and prospective cohort study. Methods: This PASS utilizes International XLH Registry (NCT03193476) data, which includes standard diagnostic and monitoring practice data at participating European centers. Results: At data cut-off (13 May 2021), 647 participants were included in the International XLH Registry; 367 were receiving burosumab, of which 67 provided consent to be included in the PASS. Mean (SD) follow-up time was 2.2 (1.0) years. Mean (SD) age was 7.3 (4.3) years (range 1.0–17.5 years). Mean duration of burosumab exposure was 29.7 (25.0) months. Overall, 25/67 participants (37.3%) experienced ⩾1 adverse event (AE) during follow-up; 83 AEs were reported. There were no deaths, no AEs leading to treatment withdrawal, nor serious AEs related to treatment. The most frequently reported AEs were classified as ‘musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders’, with ‘pain in extremity’ most frequently reported, followed by ‘infections and infestations’, with ‘tooth abscess’ the most frequently reported. Conclusion: In this first interim analysis of the PASS, covering the initial 2 years of data collection, the safety profile of burosumab is consistent with previously reported safety data. The PASS will provide long-term safety data over its 10-year duration for healthcare providers and participants with XLH that contribute to improvements in the knowledge of burosumab safety. Objective To assess the predictive value of four cardiovascular (CV) risk algorithms for identifying high-risk psoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients.Methods Evaluation of patients with PsA enrolled in the Spanish prospective project CARdiovascular in RheuMAtology. Baseline data of 669 PsA patients with no history of CV events at the baseline visit, who were followed in rheumatology outpatient clinics at tertiary centres for 7.5 years, were retrospectively analysed to test the performance of the Systematic Coronary Risk Assessment (SCORE), the modified version (mSCORE) European Alliance of Rheumatology Associations (EULAR) 2015/2016, the SCORE2 algorithm (the updated and improved version of SCORE) and the QRESEARCH risk estimator version 3 (QRISK3).Results Over 4790 years of follow-up, there were 34 CV events, resulting in a linearised rate of 7.10 per 1000 person-years (95% CI 4.92 to 9.92). Abstract Purpose To determine whether hypercapnia is associated with risk of hospital readmission related to anorexia nervosa (AN) in children and adolescents. Methods We performed a prospective study of patients ≤ 18 years old admitted due to AN decompensation from November 2018 to October 2019. Both subtypes of AN, restricting subtype (AN-R) and binge-eating/purging subtype (AN-BP), were included. Study participants were evaluated upon admission, at discharge and six months after discharge. T-tests or Mann–Whitney U tests was used to compare means values. Pearson or Spearman correlations were used to measure the association between two variables. Logistic regression models were developed to evaluate the relationship between scoring methods and readmission. Results Of the 154 persons admitted during the study period, 131 met the inclusion criteria. Median age was 15.1 years. At admission, 71% of participants were malnourished and 33 (25%) had been previously admitted. We observed a marked decrease in venous pH and stable pCO2 elevation during follow-up period. Hypercapnia at discharge was associated with a twofold increased likelihood of readmission and the odds of readmission increased as discharge pCO2 rose. These findings did not depend on AN subtype or participant sex. Electrolytes persisted within the normal range. Conclusion Hypercapnia and respiratory acidosis are common alterations in children and adolescents hospitalized due to AN decompensation. Hypercapnia persists for at least 6 months after discharge despite clinical improvement and is associated with higher odds of readmission. This is the first study to identify an abnormal laboratory finding as a potential predictor of readmission in AN. Level of evidence IV: Multiple time series without intervention.

Abstract Background X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH) is a rare, hereditary, progressive, renal phosphate-wasting disorder characterized by a pathological increase in FGF23 concentration and activity. Due to its rarity, diagnosis may be delayed, which can adversely affect outcomes. As a chronic disease resulting in progressive accumulation of musculoskeletal manifestations, it is important to understand the natural history of XLH over the patient’s lifetime and the impact of drug treatments and other interventions. This multicentre, international patient registry (International XLH Registry) was established to address the paucity of these data. Here we present the findings of the first interim analysis of the registry. Results The International XLH Registry was initiated in August 2017 and includes participants of all ages diagnosed with XLH, regardless of their treatment and management. At the database lock for this first interim analysis (29 March 2021), 579 participants had entered the registry before 30 November 2020 and are included in the analysis (360 children [62.2%], 217 adults [37.5%] and 2 whose ages were not recorded [0.3%]; 64.2% were female). Family history data were available for 319/345 (92.5%) children and 145/187 (77.5%) adults; 62.1% had biological parents affected by XLH. Genetic testing data were available for 341 (94.7%) children and 203 (93.5%) adults; 370/546 (67.8%) had genetic test results; 331/370 (89.5%) had a confirmed PHEX mutation. A notably longer time to diagnosis was observed in adults ≥ 50 years of age (mean [median] duration 9.4 [2.0] years) versus all adults (3.7 [0.1] years) and children (1.0 [0.2] years). Participants presented with normal weight, shorter length or height and elevated body mass index (approximately − 2 and + 2 Z-scores, respectively) versus the general population. Clinical histories were collected for 349 participants (239 children and 110 adults). General data trends for prevalence of bone, dental, renal and joint conditions in all participants were aligned with expectations for a typical population of people with XLH. Conclusion The data collected within the International XLH Registry, the largest XLH registry to date, provide substantial information to address the paucity of natural history data, starting with demographic, family history, genetic testing, diagnosis, auxology and baseline data on clinical presentation.

Objetivo: Demostrar que el plan urbano contribuye en la gestión pública de los Gobiernos locales del Perú. Método: La investigación se desarrolló con un enfoque cualitativo, revisión documental, de fase descriptiva, procedimiento transversal y no experimental; la revisión documental empezó con la recolección de datos y continuó con la revisión y análisis de la información, sin dejar de evaluar el contexto. Resultados: El Ministerio de Vivienda, Construcción y Saneamiento señala que el porcentaje de inversión pública en desarrollo urbano a nivel nacional en el 2021 fue bajo, por lo que esta cifra no alcanzó la meta proyectada, incluso fue menor al porcentaje alcanzado en el 2020. Frente a estos resultados, se confirma la ineficiencia de la gestión pública de los Gobiernos locales en relación con la elaboración de los planes urbanos. Conclusión: Los planes urbanos constituyen instrumentos técnicos de planificación urbanística fundamentales en el ordenamiento de las ciudades sin los cuales no será posible alcanzar el desarrollo urbano sostenible indispensable para mejorar la calidad de vida de la población.

IntroductionAxial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is a heterogeneous disease that can be represented by radiographic axSpA (r-axSpA) and non-radiographic axSpA (nr-axSpA). This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the markers of inflammation and bone turnover in r-axSpA patients and nr-axSpA patients.MethodsA cross-sectional study included 29 r-axSpA patients, 10 nr-axSpA patients, and 20 controls matched for age and sex. Plasma markers related to bone remodeling such as human procollagen type 1 N-terminal propeptide (P1NP), sclerostin, tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b (TRACP5b), receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL), and osteoprotegerin (OPG) were measured by an ELISA kit. A panel of 92 inflammatory molecules was analyzed by proximity extension assay.ResultsR-axSpA patients had decreased plasma levels of P1NP, a marker of bone formation, compared to controls. In addition, r-axSpA patients exhibited decreased plasma levels of sclerostin, an anti-anabolic bone hormone, which would not explain the co-existence of decreased plasma P1NP concentration; however, sclerostin levels could also be influenced by inflammatory processes. Plasma markers of osteoclast activity were similar in all groups. Regarding inflammation-related molecules, nr-axSpA patients showed increased levels of serum interleukin 13 (IL13) as compared with both r-axSpA patients and controls, which may participate in the prevention of inflammation. On the other hand, r-axSpA patients had higher levels of pro-inflammatory molecules compared to controls (i.e., IL6, Oncostatin M, and TNF receptor superfamily member 9). Correlation analysis showed that sclerostin was inversely associated with IL6 and Oncostatin M among others.ConclusionAltogether, different inflammatory profiles may play a role in the development of the skeletal features in axSpA patients particularly related to decreased bone formation. The relationship between sclerostin and inflammation and the protective actions of IL13 could be of relevance in the axSpA pathology, which is a topic for further investigation.

IntroductionRA patients are at higher risk of cardiovascular disease, influenced by therapies. Studying their cardiovascular and cardiometabolic proteome can unveil biomarkers and insights into related biological pathways.MethodsThis study included two cohorts of RA patients: newly diagnosed individuals (n=25) and those with established RA (disease duration >25 years, n=25). Both cohorts were age and sex-matched with a control group (n=25). Additionally, a longitudinal investigation was conducted on a cohort of 25 RA patients treated with methotrexate and another cohort of 25 RA patients treated with tofacitinib for 6 months. Clinical and analytical variables were recorded, and serum profiling of 184 proteins was performed using the Olink technology platform. ResultsRA patients exhibited elevated levels of 75 proteins that might be associated with cardiovascular disease. In addition, 24 proteins were increased in RA patients with established disease. Twenty proteins were commonly altered in both cohorts of RA patients. Among these, elevated levels of CTSL1, SORT1, SAA4, TNFRSF10A, ST6GAL1 and CCL18 discriminated RA patients and HDs with high specificity and sensitivity. Methotrexate treatment significantly reduced the levels of 13 proteins, while tofacitinib therapy modulated the expression of 10 proteins. These reductions were associated with a decrease in DAS28. Baseline levels of SAA4 and high levels of BNP were associated to the non-response to methotrexate. Changes in IL6 levels were specifically linked to the response to methotrexate. Regarding tofacitinib, differences in baseline levels of LOX1 and CNDP1 were noted between non-responder and responder RA patients. In addition, response to tofacitinib correlated with changes in SAA4 and TIMD4 levels. ConclusionIn summary, this study pinpoints molecular changes linked to cardiovascular disease in RA and proposes candidate protein biomarkers for distinguishing RA patients from healthy individuals. It also highlights how methotrexate and tofacitinib impact these proteins, with distinct alterations corresponding to each drug’s response, identifying potential candidates, as SAA4, for the response to these therapies.

Introduction: Drug use is a health problem that occurs more frequently in the young population; its prevalence increases every day. Currently, there is concern about the perception of risk of drug use in university students. Objective: Describe the risk perception of drug consumption in university students from the Manabí province in Ecuador. Methods: Descriptive and cross-sectional research; universe of 787 university students from the Manabí province in Ecuador. The sample was made up of 259 students. The survey was used as a data collection technique. The School Surveys on Drug Abuse from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime were used as a research instrument. Descriptive statistics were used to process the data. Results: An average age of 22.37 years was obtained, predominance of the female sex (65.25 %) and students who consume some type of drug (79.92 %). 91.30 % reported consumption of legal drugs (tobacco 43.63 % and alcohol 61.39 %); 31.26 % used medicinal drugs and 23.29 % used illicit drugs; Of them, 85.42 % reported marijuana use. 32.04 % had a low perception of the risk of drug use. Conclusions: In the group of university students from the Manabí province who are investigated, there is an increase in the consumption of licit, medicinal and illicit drugs due to a poor perception of the risk of consumption of these substances.

Se identifican a 75 poetas diferentes que, a través de poemas laudatorios, presentan a Lope de Vega ante los lectores, y destacan determinados rasgos socio-literarios de una forma coral. Para el desarrollo de esta investigación se ha empleado como herramienta metodológica la base de datos del proyecto PRESOLO, en la que se encuentran editados todos los poemas, y el análisis de los mismos se ha llevado a cabo a través de etiquetas codificadas en lenguaje TEI (Text Encoding Initiative). El trabajo se acompaña con un anexo en el que se identifican todos los poemas paratextuales y sus autores.

The Higgs mechanism, i.e., spontaneous symmetry breaking of the quantum vacuum, is a cross-disciplinary principle, universal for understanding dark energy, antimatter and quantum materials, from superconductivity to magnetism. Yet, Higgs modes in one-band superconductors (SCs) are currently under debate due to their competition with charge-density fluctuations. A distinct Higgs mode, controllable by terahertz (THz) laser pulses, can arise in multi-band, unconventional SCs via strong {\em interband} Coulomb interaction, but is yet to be accessed. Here we both discover and demonstrate quantum control of such collective mode in iron-based high-temperature superconductors. Using two-pulse, phase coherent THz spectroscopy, we observe a tunable and coherent 2$\Delta_{\mathrm{SC}}$ amplitude oscillation of the complex order parameter in such SC with coupled lower and upper bands. The nonlinear dependence of the amplitude mode oscillations on the THz driving fields is distinct from any one-band and conventional SC results: we observe a large nonlinear change of resonance strength, yet with a persisting mode frequency. We argue that this result provides compelling evidence for a transient coupling between the electron and hole amplitude modes via strong interband coherent interaction. To support this scenario, we perform quantum kinetic modeling of a hybrid Higgs mechanism without invoking extra disorder or phonons. In addition to distinguishing between collective modes and charge fluctuations, the light quantum control of multiband SCs can be extended to probe and manipulate many-body entanglement and hidden symmetries in different quantum materials.

Fe-based superconductors exhibit a diverse interplay between charge, orbital, and magnetic ordering1-4. Variations in atomic geometry affect electron hopping between Fe atoms5,6 and the Fermi surface topology, influencing magnetic frustration and the pairing mechanism through changes of orbital overlap and occupancies7-11. Here, we experimentally demonstrate a systematic approach to realize superconductivity without chemical doping in BaFe2As2, employing geometric design within an epitaxial heterostructure. We control both tetragonality and orthorhombicity in BaFe2As2 through superlattice engineering, which we experimentally find to induce superconductivity when the As-Fe-As bond angle approaches that in a regular tetrahedron. This approach of superlattice design could lead to insights into low dimensional superconductivity in Fe-based superconductors.
