- Abstract
The decisive key to disease-free survival in B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children, is the combination of diagnostic timeliness and treatment efficacy, guided by accurate patient risk stratification. Implementation of standardized and high-precision diagnostic/prognostic systems is particularly important in the most marginalized geographic areas in Mexico, where high numbers of the pediatric population resides and the highest relapse and early death rates due to acute leukemias are recorded even in those cases diagnosed as standard risk.

- Abstract

- Abstract
Este trabajo se realizó en el marco del semillero Interacciones Mediáticas de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali., The degree work Construction of Affinity Spaces of the fans of Korean Pop (K-pop) in Cali examines the processes of incorporating foreign cultural products, such as K-pop in local culture and the organization of fan communities. Theoretically it is based on the notions of Affinity Spaces (Gee, 2005) and Participatory Culture (Jenkins, 2015). The methodology is qualitative, episodic interviews were applied to fans of the Super Junior group and an analysis of the videos and lyrics of the group. From the data, it is possible to point out that in the configuration of the affinity spaces multiple processes, organizations and social actors participate, among which are the cultural production systems or Korean cultural industries, media ecosystems or social networks and participatory and interactive dynamics of the fans, aspects that favor the circulation and incorporation of Korean cultural products in the analyzed fan club. This work was carried out within the framework of the Media Interactions seedbed of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali.

The current pandemic has rocked the lives of human beings everywhere in ways never imagined, forcing us to question where our civilization is headed. In this article, we explore and discuss scientific evidence that helps explain recent events in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 is caused by infection with a zoonotic-origin novel virus, SARS-CoV-2, that is genetically close to two coronavirus types isolated in bats. The transmission dynamics to humans from the original and intermediary hosts remain poorly understood, but it is highly likely that the SARS-CoV-2 virus infected humans after undergoing an interspecies transfer from bats to an intermediate species, and from there to human beings. Crossing the species barrier is largely fostered by industrial-scale agricultural practices that simplify original ecosystem connections by reducing biodiversity, facilitating the emergence of new infectious diseases. The scientific community has played an exemplary role in responding to this global emergency, working to find timely, relevant solutions for governments and society as a whole. We need to take this opportunity to promote a global and open science that delves into the interrelationships of the biological, environmental, social and economic dimensions of this and other diseases while questioning current modes of production and their impact on the environment, and thus on human health worldwide.
