3. Cascaded Deep Neural Network Based Adaptive Precoding for Distributed Massive MIMO Systems

Abstract

In time-division duplex (TDD) distributed large-scale multiple input multiple output (DM-MIMO) systems, the traditional downlink channel precoding method is used to resist inter-user interference (IUI). However, when the Channel State Information (CSI) is incomplete, the performance loss is serious, not only the bit error rate is high, but also the complexity of the traditional precoding algorithm is high. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes an adaptive precoding framework based on deep learning (DL) for joint training and split application deployment. First, we train a channel emulator deep neural network (CE-DNN) to learn and simulate the transmission process of the wireless communication channel. Then, we concatenate an untrained precoding DNN (P-DNN) with a trained CE-DNN and retrain the cascaded neural network to converge. The last step is to obtain the P-DNN, namely the adaptive precoding network, by dismantling the joint trained network. Simulation results show that, when CSI is imperfect, the proposed method is compared with Tomlinson-Harashima precoding (THP) and block diagonalization (BD) precoding. The proposed method has a lower mean square error (MSE) and higher spectrum efficiency, as well as a bit error rate (BER) performance close to the THP. 4. Rate enhancement and multi-relay selection schemes for application in wireless cooperative networks

Abstract

In this thesis new methods are presented to achieve performance enhancement in wireless cooperative networks. In particular, techniques to improve transmission rate, mitigate asynchronous transmission and maximise end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio are described. An offset transmission scheme with full interference cancellation for a two-hop synchronous network with frequency flat links and four relays is introduced. This approach can asymptotically, as the symbol block size increases, achieve maximum transmission rate together with full cooperative diversity provided the destination node has multiple antennas. A novel full inter-relay interference cancellation method that also achieves asymptotically maximum rate and full cooperative diversity is then designed which only requires a single antenna at the destination node. Extension to asynchronous networks is then considered through the use of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) type transmission with a cyclic prefix, and interference cancellation techniques are designed for situations when synchronization errors are present in only the second hop or both the first and second hop. End-to-end bit error rate evaluations, with and without outer coding, are used to assess the performance of the various offset transmission schemes. Multi-relay selection methods for cooperative amplify and forward type networks are then studied in order to overcome the degradation of end-to-end bit error rate performance in single-relay selection networks when there are feedback errors in the destination to relay node links. Outage probability analysis for two and four relay selection is performed to show the advantage of multi-relay selection when no interference occurs and when adjacent cell interference is present both at the relay nodes and the destination node. Simulation studies are included which support the theoretical expressions. Finally, outage probability analysis of a cognitive amplify and forward type relay network with cooperation between certain secondary users, chosen by single and multi-relay (two and four) selection is presented. The cognitive relays are assumed to exploit an underlay approach, which requires adherence to an interference constraint on the primary user. The relay selection is performed either with a max-min strategy or one based on maximising exact end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio. The analyses are again confirmed by numerical evaluations.

Abstract

Background: As gene-targeted therapies are increasingly being developed for Parkinson's disease (PD), identifying and characterizing carriers of specific genetic pathogenic variants is imperative. Only a small fraction of the estimated number of subjects with monogenic PD worldwide are currently represented in the literature and availability of clinical data and clinical trial-ready cohorts is limited. Objective: The objectives are to (1) establish an international cohort of affected and unaffected individuals with PD-linked variants; (2) provide harmonized and quality-controlled clinical characterization data for each included individual; and (3) further promote collaboration of researchers in the field of monogenic PD. Methods: We conducted a worldwide, systematic online survey to collect individual-level data on individuals with PD-linked variants in SNCA, LRRK2, VPS35, PRKN, PINK1, DJ-1, as well as selected pathogenic and risk variants in GBA and corresponding demographic, clinical, and genetic data. All registered cases underwent thorough quality checks, and pathogenicity scoring of the variants and genotype–phenotype relationships were analyzed. Results: We collected 3888 variant carriers for our analyses, reported by 92 centers (42 countries) worldwide. Of the included individuals, 3185 had a diagnosis of PD (ie, 1306 LRRK2, 115 SNCA, 23 VPS35, 429 PRKN, 75 PINK1, 13 DJ-1, and 1224 GBA) and 703 were unaffected (ie, 328 LRRK2, 32 SNCA, 3 VPS35, 1 PRKN, 1 PINK1, and 338 GBA). In total, we identified 269 different pathogenic variants; 1322 individuals in our cohort (34%) were indicated as not previously published. Conclusions: Within the MJFF Global Genetic PD Study Group, we (1) established the largest international cohort of affected and unaffected individuals carrying PD-linked variants; (2) provide harmonized and quality-controlled clinical and genetic data for each included individual; (3) promote collaboration in the field of genetic PD with a view to

Abstract

The study was carried out with six Chinese kale lines as materials. Complete diallel crossing was designed with 6 × 6 to calculate the combining ability and the main genetic parameters. The results are as follows: The GCA effect of P1, P2 and P5 was excellent. They were used as parants to get hybrids, the heterosis of anti-cancer glucosinolates of their hybrid was very high. By analyzing the SCA effects, 1 × 2 was an outstanding hybrid. The broad sense heritability of the main GSs were relatively higher, and the narrow sense heritability were lower, so the potential of heterosis was bigger.Keywords: Chinese kale, glucosinolate, combining ability, heritability, heterosis

Genetic testing in spinocerebellar ataxia in Taiwan: expansions of trinucleotide repeats in SCA8 and SCA17 are associated with typical Parkinson's disease. DNA tests in normal subjects and patients with ataxia and Parkinson's disease (PD) were carried out to assess the frequency of spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) and to document the distribution of SCA mutations underlying ethnic Chinese in Taiwan. MJD/SCA3 (46%) was the most common autosomal dominant SCA in the Taiwanese cohort, followed by SCA6 (18%) and SCA1 (3%). No expansions of SCA types 2, 10, 12, or dentatorubropallidoluysian atrophy (DRPLA) were detected. The clinical phenotypes of these affected SCA patients were very heterogeneous. All of them showed clinical symptoms of cerebellar ataxia, with or without other associated features. The frequencies of large normal alleles are closely associated with the prevalence of SCA1, SCA2, MJD/SCA3, SCA6, and DRPLA among Taiwanese, Japanese, and Caucasians. Interestingly, abnormal expansions of SCA8 and SCA17 genes were detected in patients with PD. The clinical presentation for these patients is typical of idiopathic PD with the following characteristics: late onset of disease, resting tremor in the limbs, rigidity, bradykinesia, and a good response to levodopa. This study appears to be the first report describing the PD phenotype in association with an expanded allele in the TATA-binding protein gene and suggests that SCA8 may also be a cause of typical PD. 48. Simian virus 40 DNA replication: functional organization of regulatory elements

Abstract

The efficiency of simian virus 40 (SV40) DNA replication is dependent on the structural organization of the regulatory region. The enhancing effect of the G + C-rich 21-base-pair (bp) repeats on SV40 DNA replication is position and dose dependent and to some extent orientation dependent. The inverted orientation is about 50% as effective as the normal orientation of the 21-bp repeat region. Movement of the 21-bp repeat region 180 or 370 bp upstream of the ori sequence abolishes its enhancing effect, whereas no replication is detected if the 21-bp repeat region is placed downstream of the ori sequence. The dose-dependent enhancement of the 21-bp repeat of SV40 DNA replication as first described in single transfection by Bergsma et al. (D. J. Bergsma, D. M. Olive, S. W. Hartzell, and K. N. Subramanian, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 79:381-385, 1982) is dramatically amplified in mixed transfection. In the presence of the 21-bp repeat region, the 72-bp repeat region can enhance SV40 DNA replication. In the presence of the 21-bp repeats and a competitive environment, the 72-bp repeat region exhibits a cis-acting inhibitory effect on SV40 DNA replication.

49. Evolutionarily selected replication origins: functional aspects and structural organization

Abstract

A selective replicative pressure occurs during the evolution of simian virus 40 variants. When the replication origin is duplicated as an inverted repeat, there is a dramatic enhancement of replication. Having regulatory sequences located between the inverted repeat of ori magnifies their enhancing effect on replication. A passage 20 variant and a passage 45 variant containing three pairs of an inverted repeat of ori replicated more efficiently than a passage 13 variant containing nine copies of ori arranged in tandem. A 69-base-pair cellular sequence inserted between inverted repeats of ori of both passage 40 and 45 variants enhanced simian virus 40 DNA replication. Differences in replication efficiencies became greater as the total number of replicating species was increased in the transfection mixture, under conditions where T antigen is limiting. In a competitive environment, sequences flanking the replication origin may be inhibitory to replication.
