Purpose: A breast cancer (BC) diagnosis may negatively affect health-related quality of life (HRQoL). However, there are few comparisons of HRQoL at several time points for women with BC, and particular when subdivided into invasive and in situ tumors. The purpose of this study was to investigate various aspects of HRQoL in women recently diagnosed with invasive BC or ductal carcinoma in situ (in situ) compared to age-matched BC free controls in a population-wide sample recruited through the Cancer Registry of Norway. Methods: This cross-sectional study utilized HRQoL data collected in 2020–2022 from a digital survey including 4117 cases (3867 women with invasive BC and 430 with in situ) and 2911 controls. HRQoL was assessed ≥ 21 days after diagnosis, using EORTC QLQ-C30. This includes scores assessing global quality of life (gHRQoL) and HRQoL functions and symptoms. Multivariable regression analyses were used to compare HRQoL between cases and controls and to identify factors associated with gHRQoL and fatigue. Additionally, HRQoL 14 months after diagnosis was analyzed in 1989 of the included cases and in 1212 of the controls. Score differences of ≥ 10 points were considered clinically relevant and thus presented in the results. Results: Invasive BC cases had lower gHRQoL, role- and social functioning in addition to more fatigue than controls. In situ cases had lower role—and social functioning than controls. Invasive BC cases scored worse than in situ on all domains, but the differences were not considered clinically relevant. Physical activity was associated with better gHRQoL and less fatigue in invasive BC, in situ and controls. Both invasive BC and in situ cases improved their role- and social functioning scores from diagnosis to 14 months follow-up, however no improvement was seen for fatigue. Conclusion: Women with invasive BC and in situ reported lower role- and social functioning scores than controls right after diagnosis with improvements 14 months after diagnosis. Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) occurring in patients with hematological malignancies (HM) is a life-threatening condition with specific features. Mortality rate remains high but improvement has been described over the past several years. We aimed to describe characteristics and outcomes of ARDS in HM patients admitted in French ICUs (Intensive Care Units) during a one year-period. Data for this nationwide cohort study were collected from the French national hospital database (Programme de Médicalisation des Systèmes d'Information (PMSI)). All patients (18 years or older) admitted to French ICUs in 2017 and with a diagnosis of ARDS were included. Three groups were compared according to the presence of an HM, a solid cancer or no cancer. The primary endpoint was 90-day mortality. Secondary endpoints were the description of ICU management, etiologies of ARDS and mortality risk factors. Results: A total of 12 846 patients with ARDS were included. Among them, 990 had HM and 2744 had a solid cancer. The main malignancies were non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) (28.5%), acute myeloid leukemia (AML) (20.4%) and multiple myeloma (19.7%). Day-90 mortality in patients with HM was higher than in patients with no cancer (64.4% vs. 46.6% p = 0.01) but was not different from that of patients with solid cancer (64.4% vs. 61.4%,p = 0.09). Intubation rate was lower in patients with HM in comparison with both groups (87.7% vs. 90.4% p = 0.02 for patients with solid cancer and 87.7% vs. 91.3%; p < 0.01 with no cancer). Independent predictors of mortality for patients with HM were a diagnosis of lymphoma or acute leukemia, age, a high modified SAPS II score, a renal replacement therapy, invasive fungal infection, and a septic shock. Bacterial pneumonia, extrapulmonary infections and non-invasive ventilation were protective. Conclusion: Mortality remains high in patients with HM admitted in ICU with ARDS in comparison with patients without cancer. Background: Our systematic review aimed to critically evaluate empirical literature describing the association of muscle-strengthening exercise (MSE) with recurrence and/or mortality among breast cancer survivors. Methods: We included English-language empirical research studies examining the association between MSE and recurrence and/or mortality among females diagnosed with breast cancer. Seven databases (MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane CENTRAL, and CINAHL) were searched in September 2023. Quality was appraised using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. Results are summarized descriptively. Results: Five sources were identified. MSE measurement differed in relation to the description of the MSE (i.e., muscle-strengthening vs. strength training), examples of activities (e.g., sit-ups or push-ups vs. calisthenics vs. circuit training), and exercise frequency (i.e., days vs. times/week). Findings offer provisional evidence that some MSE may lower the hazards of recurrence and mortality. This association may vary by race, weight status, and menopausal status. Conclusions: In summary, limited available evidence suggests that MSE may lower the hazards of recurrence and mortality. More consistent measurement and analyses would help generate findings that are more readily comparable and applicable to inform clinical practice. Background: Anticipatory grief is common among family caregivers of cancer patients and may be related to caregiver burden, family resilience, psychological capital, cognitive appraisal, and coping strategies. The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating role of cognitive appraisal and coping strategies in the relationship between caregiver burden, family resilience, psychological capital, and anticipatory grief among caregivers of cancer patients. Methods: This study surveyed from January to September 2023 among 265 caregivers of lung and breast cancer patients in two public hospitals. They completed measures of caregiver burden, family resilience, psychological capital, cognitive appraisal, coping, and anticipatory grief. AMOS software was used to model the data with Bayesian structural equation modeling. Results: Bayesian structural equation modeling results showed that caregiver burden had a direct effect on anticipatory grief. The chain mediating effects for cognitive appraisal tendency and coping tendency between caregiver burden, family resilience, psychological capital, and anticipatory grief, respectively. Coping tendency acted as a mediator between psychological capital and anticipatory grief. Conclusions: The relationships between caregiver burden, family resilience, and psychological capital with anticipatory grief are embedded in the mediating effects of cognitive appraisal and coping. Early identification and intervention for caregiver burden, family resilience, psychological capital, cognitive appraisal, and coping methods may prevent anticipatory grief in caregivers of cancer patients. Simple Summary: Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women globally, with over 2.26 million new cases in women in 2020. Male breast cancer, while rare (less than 1% of cases), is treated similarly to female breast cancer despite some clinical differences. Advances in treatment, such as using genomic and immunohistochemical markers, have significantly improved survival rates for women. Men with breast cancer are often older at diagnosis, and their prognosis may differ due to age and other factors. The survival analysis conducted on 2162 patients (19 males and 2143 females) suggests that male breast cancer may have a poorer prognosis compared to female breast cancer. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers and the leading cause of cancer death in women. Less than 1% of breast cancer cases are male breast cancers. Although there has been significant progress made in the management of breast cancer, due to its rarity among men, the question of whether men and women with breast cancer have the same treatment response and survival rate still needs to be answered. The primary goal of this study is to compare survival outcomes between male and female breast cancer patients. Material and Method: This cohort study represents a retrospective and anonymized data analysis of 2162 breast cancer cases (19 males and 2143 females), registered over a period of 12 years, from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2021, in the Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Diakoneo Diak Klinikum Schwäbisch Hall, Germany. Results: According to the Kaplan–Meier survival analysis, the estimated overall 3-year survival rate was 91.1% for women and 88.9% for men. The log-rank test of equality of survival distributions indicated a statistically significant difference in survival times between the two groups (p = 0.009). In the subsequent age-matched Kaplan–Meier analysis, the p-value was below the significance threshold (p = 0.068). Simple Summary: Peritoneal metastases from gastric cancer are linked to a poor prognosis, with median survival ranging from 2 to 9 months. Standard treatments, including systemic chemotherapy and targeted therapies, have demonstrated only limited effectiveness. Pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) is an experimental approach under investigation for treating these metastases, but its widespread clinical use is hindered by insufficient evidence regarding its safety and efficacy. This retrospective study presents outcomes from the first PIPAC program in Lithuania, where 32 patients underwent 71 PIPAC procedures between 2015 and 2022. Intraoperative and postoperative complications occurred in 4.2% of cases. Although reductions in peritoneal carcinomatosis index (PCI) and ascites volume were noted, they were not statistically significant. The median overall survival after PM diagnosis was 12.5 months. These findings suggest that PIPAC is a safe and feasible treatment, but further research is needed to establish its efficacy. Standard treatment typically involves systemic chemotherapy alone or combined with targeted therapy or immunotherapy, though efficacy is limited. Pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) has emerged as a novel technique for treating GC PM, although it remains an experimental treatment under investigation. This study aimed to summarize the outcomes of GC PM treatment with PIPAC from the Lithuanian PIPAC program. Methods: All patients who underwent PIPAC for GC PM at Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos between 2015 and 2022 were included in this retrospective study. The safety of PIPAC was assessed by postoperative complications according to the Clavien–Dindo classification. Efficacy was evaluated based on the peritoneal carcinomatosis index (PCI), ascites dynamics throughout the treatment, and long-term outcomes. Results: In total, 32 patients underwent 71 PIPAC procedures. Intraoperative and postoperative morbidity related to PIPAC occurred after three (4.2%) procedures. Following PIPAC, there was a tendency towards a decrease in median PCI from 10 (Q1 3; Q3 13) to 7 (Q1 2; Q3 12), p = 0.75, and a decrease in median ascites volume from 1300 mL (Q1 500; Q3 3600) at the first PIPAC to 700 mL (Q1 250; Q3 4750) at the last PIPAC, p = 0.56; however, these differences were not statistically significant. The median overall survival after PM diagnosis was 12.5 months (95% CI 10–17), and the median survival after the first PIPAC procedure was 5 months (95% CI 4–10). Simple Summary: This pilot study aims to identify the physical, mental, social, psychological, and health needs encountered by cancer survivors in order to propose and facilitate appropriate and tailored responses. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first multidimensional studies investigating this topic in Italy. Data show that the quality of life of cancer survivors is affected by cancer and its treatment, reporting more frailties than the general population, especially those over 65 years old. These findings could help develop multidisciplinary planning of survivorship care for the transition of patients from oncological management to primary healthcare. Background: Understanding the specific needs of cancer survivors is essential for healthcare policy. In Italy, dedicated studies are lacking, so we aimed to investigate the physical, mental, social, and health difficulties encountered by these patients. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study on breast or colorectal cancer survivors (people 5+ years free from it and its treatments) using an ad hoc survey including validated questionnaires (Grauer–Palombi, SF-36, PREDIMED). Participants were recruited within the Oncology Unit of the "Policlinico Tor Vergata", Italy. Results: A total of 62 patients (80.6% females; years range: 37–87) agreed to be interviewed. A profile of cancer survivors was drafted: an overaged person with multiple co-morbidities, not well-nourished, adhering to the Mediterranean diet, reporting critical conditions as for physical and functional status. The mean number of co-morbidities was 3.6 ± 2.4 SD, with a statistically significant difference between age groups (under and over 65). Compared to the general population, the sample showed more frailties, especially when >65. The risk of having multimorbidity (four or more co-morbidities) significantly increased in those over 65 (OR: 4.72; CI: 1.43–15.59). Conclusion: There is an urgent need for survivorship care planning for the patient-centered continuum of care. Background: Advance care planning (ACP) allows patients to define their goals and preferences. Spending more time at home and less time in the hospital, along with avoiding death in the hospital, are often considered desirable outcomes of palliative care (PC). In 2015, 36% of cancer patients died in the hospital and 13% died at home in Norway. Method: From 2015 to 2022, this prospective controlled non-randomized intervention trial observed 144 cancer patients with or without an organized ACP conversation in primary health care and a summarizing palliative plan (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02170168, 23 June 2014). The patients were identified through contact with the local cancer outpatient clinic or hospital-based PC team. Results: A total of 128 patients died during the observation period. Of these, 67 patients had an organized ACP conversation and summarizing palliative plan (intervention (I) group) and 61 had not (control (C) group). Dying in the hospital was significantly less common for patients in the I group compared to the C group (17.9% vs. 34.4%; X2 (1, n = 128) = 4.55, p = 0.033). There were no differences between the groups in terms of where they spent their time in the last 90 days of life (home, nursing home, or hospital). Most patients (62%) preferred to die at home. The observed differences between the groups regarding preferred and actual places of death did not reach statistical significance. Conclusion: With organized ACP conversations in primary health care and a summarizing palliative plan, cancer patients died less often in the hospital in our observational study. Tumor mutation profiling (MP) is often conducted on tissue from biopsies conducted for clinical purposes (diagnostic tissue). We aimed to explore the views of patients with cancer on who should own tumor biopsy tissue, pay for its storage, and decide on its future use; and determine their attitudes to and predictors of undergoing additional biopsies if required for research purposes. In this mixed methods, cross-sectional study, patients with advanced solid cancers enrolled in the Molecular Screening and Therapeutics Program (n  = 397) completed a questionnaire prior to undergoing MP (n  = 356/397). A subset (n  = 23) also completed a qualitative interview. Fifty percent of participants believed they and/or relatives should own and control access to diagnostic tissue. Most (65.5%) believed the government should pay for tissue preparation. Qualitative themes included (1) custodianship of diagnostic tissue, (2) changing value of tissue across time and between cultures, (3) equity regarding payment, and (4) cost-benefit considerations in deciding on additional biopsies. Background. Coiled‐coil domain containing 25 (CCDC25) is a receptor for neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) DNA and is involved in various cancers, including CRC. This study aimed to investigate the regulatory role of CCDC25 in CRC using GWAS data, eQTL, transcriptomic profiles, and clinical information of CRC patients. Methods. From open‐source databases, GWAS summary data, eQTL expression profiles, and transcriptomic profiles, as well as clinical information were collected for CRC patients. Mendelian randomization (MR) was used to investigate the causal relationship between CCDC25 and CRC risk. The expression of CCDC25 and its associated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified. We explored the relationship between CCDC25 expression and survival, biological functions, immune cell infiltration, immune checkpoint expression, and response to immunotherapy. Results. High CCDC25 expression reduces the risk of CRC. CCDC25 is downregulated in various cancers, particularly in CRC tumor tissues compared to normal tissues. Metabolic pathways are enriched in groups with high CCDC25 expression, while cancer‐related pathways are enriched in groups with low CCDC25 expression. High CCDC25 expression is also associated with increased infiltration of resting memory CD4+ T cells, elevated levels of most immune checkpoints, and an enhanced response to anti‐PD1 therapy. In addition, 95 DEGs were identified between high‐CCDC25 and low‐CCDC25 groups, and eight genes (FDFT1, ASAH1, ADAM9, CXCL14, SERPINA1, NAT1, EREG, and GSR) were identified as prognostic genes. Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic, while putting pressure on the global healthcare system, has had a significant impact on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cervical cancer. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of the challenges and opportunities presented to cervical cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic and to provide lessons for better coping with cervical cancer in future pandemics. Methods: The search terms included the following: SARS-CoV-2 and/or COVID-19 with cervical cancer and HPV. The initial literature search began on June 1, 2022 and ended on March 1, 2023. Outcome: COVID-19 has hindered the cervical cancer screening, delayed the diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer, increased the public's anxiety, and negatively affected the management of cervical cancer. However, the occurrence of COVID-19 pandemic has promoted the development of new human papillomavirus (HPV) tests and improved the rates of HPV self-sampling, offering a small window of opportunity to eliminate cervical cancer. Conclusions: In the next few years, the COVID-19 pandemic will come to an end, and the eradication of cervical cancer should always be carried out. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in unprecedented changes to cancer care in many countries, impacting cancer patients' lives in numerous ways. This study examines the impact of changes in cancer care on patient's health-related quality of life (HRQL), which is a key outcome in cancer care. The study aims to estimate patients' self-reported HRQL before and during the pandemic and identify predictive factors for their physical and mental wellbeing. Method: The study employed the large-scale Outpatient Cancer Care (OCC) Patient Experience Survey, including the Veterans RAND 12-Item Health Survey, to evaluate cancer patients' experiences and HRQL before (January to May 2020) and during the COVID-19 pandemic (May to July 2021). Paired t-tests were conducted to compare differences in Physical Component Scores (PCS) and Mental Component Scores (MCS) before and during the pandemic. Multivariable linear regressions were employed to investigate the factors (sociodemographic, clinical, and patient-reported experience) influencing PCS and MCS during the pandemic. Results: PCS decreased significantly during the pandemic, while MCS remained stable. Lower PCS contributors included older age, more telehealth visits, self-reported hospitalization, and a longer time since the last cancer diagnosis. Higher PCS was associated with urban residence, higher MCS during the pandemic, and perceived active Healthcare Provider (HCP) involvement. For MCS, lower scores related to female gender and more telehealth visits, while higher scores were associated with being white, higher education, high MCS before the pandemic, and perceived active HCP involvement. Conclusion: The OCC Patient Experience Survey provides a unique patient level data set measuring HRQL pre- and post- the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study highlights challenges faced by cancer patients during the pandemic, with a significant reduction in PCS. However, the stability in MCS suggests effective coping mechanisms. Sociodemographic, clinical, and telehealth-related variables play a complex role in shaping both PCS and MCS. Perceived HCP involvement emerges as a crucial factor correlating with higher PCS and MCS. Navigating the post-pandemic era necessitates interventions fortifying patient-provider relationships, optimizing healthcare support systems, such as telehealth services, and prioritizing mental-well-being given its impact on both PCS and MCS. As cancer care shifted during the pandemic, we aimed to understand how it affected patients' quality of life. Background/Objective: Few Spanish mindfulness interventions have been evaluated in Latinx patients with cancer. We culturally adapted a mindfulness intervention for Spanish speaking Latinx patients. The objective was to measure feasibility and acceptability as primary outcomes, with changes in anxiety, depression, and sleep as secondary outcomes. Method: Spanish-speaking Latinx patients with breast cancer (n = 31) were randomized, between April 2021 and May 2022 to either intervention or wait-list control groups. The mindfulness intervention consisted of 6-weekly 1.5-hour sessions remotely delivered by a novice facilitator. Cultural adaptations included language, metaphor, goal, concept, trauma informed, and acknowledgement of spirituality. Feasibility was benchmarked as 75% of participants attending their first session, 75% of participants completing 4 of 6 sessions, and scoring ≥ 4 on a 5-point Likert feasability scale measuring ability to implement changes after 6-weeks. Acceptability was measured as scoring ≥ 4 on a 5-point Likert scale measuring usefulness and relevance of the mindfulness intervention for each session. An intention-to-treat, linear mixed model with repeated measures analysis examined changes in anxiety, depression, and sleep at week 6 and 18 (3 months post intervention). Results: All three feasibility benchmarks were met with 75% of first session attendance, 96% of participants completing 4 of 6 sessions, and 94% scoring ≥ 4, on the feasibility scale (Mean (SD) = 4.3 (0.6)). Acceptability scores for both usefulness and relevance questions were ≥ 4 across all 6 sessions. Anxiety was significantly reduced at 3 months (−3.6 (CI -6.9, −0.2), P =.04), but is of unclear clinical significance given the small change. Depression scores declined, but not significantly, and there were no changes in sleep. Conclusion: This culturally adapted, remotely delivered mindfulness intervention using a novice facilitator was acceptable and feasible and demonstrated associated reductions in anxiety amongst Spanish speaking Latinx patients with breast cancer. Introduction: There is a need for a validated Vietnamese translation of the colorectal cancer subscale (CCS) of the functional assessment of cancer therapy–colorectal (FACT-C) questionnaire to assess colorectal cancer-specific concerns of Vietnamese persons with colorectal cancer post-surgery. Objectives: This study aims to translate and validate the CCS of FACT-C questionnaire in Vietnamese persons with colorectal cancer post-surgery. Methods: The nine-item CCS was translated following the functional assessment of chronic illness therapy (FACIT) translation methodology guidelines. Psychometric properties of a Vietnamese version of the CCS were evaluated with a sample of 135 participants who were randomly selected from three hospitals in Vietnam, utilizing a multistage sampling method. Construct validity was examined through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and reliability was assessed using Cronbach's α coefficients. These measures aimed to validate the psychometric properties of the Vietnamese nine-item CCS version. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze participant demographics with SPSS. Results: The translated version demonstrated equivalence to the original English version. Simple Summary: Relapse and treatment-related side effects pose significant challenges for older patients with high-risk blood cancers (myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS)/acute myeloid leukemia (AML)) undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplants from HLA-haploidentical donors. We compared two preparative treatment regimens to identify the most tolerable and effective approach: one using fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, and melphalan, and the other using fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, and treosulfan. Our goal was to determine which treatment offers better survival rates and fewer side effects. We found that both regimens resulted in similar survival outcomes. However, the melphalan regimen was associated with fewer relapses but more treatment-related deaths, while the treosulfan regimen had fewer side effects but exhibited poorer disease control. Previous studies have demonstrated the feasibility of treosulfan-based conditioning, noting stable engraftment and low non-relapse mortality (NRM) in patients undergoing HLA-matched allo-HSCT. However, data on treosulfan-based conditioning in the HLA-haploidentical transplantation (HaploT) setting are limited. We retrospectively compared conditioning with fludarabine–cyclophosphamide (FC)–melphalan (110 mg/m2) and FC-treosulfan (30 g/m2) prior to HaploT using post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PTCy) in patients with high-risk MDS/AML patients ≥ 50 years, transplanted from 2009–2021 at our institution (n = 80). After balancing patient characteristics by a matched-pair analysis, we identified twenty-one matched pairs. Two-year OS and LFS were similar among the groups (OS 66% and LFS 66%, p = 0.8 and p = 0.57). However, FC-melphalan was associated with a significantly lower probability of relapse compared to FC-treosulfan (0% vs. 24%, p = 0.006), counterbalanced by a higher NRM (33% vs. 10%, p = 0.05). Time to engraftment and incidences of acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) did not differ significantly. In conclusion, HaploT using FC-treosulfan in combination with PTCy in patients aged ≥50 years with MDS/AML appears safe and effective, particularly in advanced disease stages. Of the 4585 participants with a history of solid cancers, 1649 (36.3%) reported chronic pain and 554 (12.6%) reported high-impact chronic pain. After adjustment, participants with incomes < 200% FPL had significantly higher odds of chronic pain (adjusted odds ratio [aOR]: 1.60, 95% CI: 1.25–2.05) and high-impact chronic pain (aOR: 1.73, 95% CI: 1.09–2.74) compared to those with incomes ≥ 400% FPL. Opioid use for chronic pain was most prevalent among those with incomes < 200% FPL (28.3%) compared to those with 200–399% (21.3%) and ≥400% (19.0%). Higher-income participants reported greater use of alternative pain management methods such as yoga (50.5%), chiropractic care (44.8%), and physical therapy (44.3%). Simple Summary: As more cancer patients with advanced disease present to the emergency department (ED), data on outcomes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are needed to help counsel patients before and during an acute event. We investigated the characteristics of cancer patients who required CPR, their outcomes, and how prior advanced care planning (ACP) influenced these outcomes. Few studies have specifically looked at these data in an emergency department, where medical history is limited and the need for acute intervention often precludes discussion of therapeutic limitations. We found cardiopulmonary resuscitation of cancer patients to be rare in the ED. Although the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) is often attained, very few patients survive to discharge. Patient characteristics, resuscitation success, overall mortality, and the cost of care did not differ between patients with and without ACP. However, patients with ACP had shorter hospital and intensive care unit (ICU) stays and higher rates of conversion to do-not-resuscitate (DNR) status post-resuscitation. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) outcomes vary for patients with cancer. Here, we characterized cancer patients who underwent CPR in the emergency department (ED), their outcomes, and the effects of advanced care planning (ACP). The hospital databases and electronic medical records of cancer patients at a comprehensive cancer center who underwent CPR in the ED from 6 March 2016 to 31 December 2022 were reviewed for patient characteristics, return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), conversion to do-not-resuscitate (DNR) status afterward, hospital and intensive care unit (ICU) length of stay, mortality, cost of hospitalization, and prior GOC discussions. CPR occurred in 0.05% of all ED visits. Of the 100 included patients, 67 patients achieved ROSC, with 15% surviving to hospital discharge. The median survival was 26 h, and the 30-day mortality rate was 89%. Patients with and without prior ACP had no significant differences in demographics, metastatic involvement, achievement of ROSC, or in-hospital mortality, but patients with ACP were more likely to change their code status to DNR and had shorter stays in the ICU or hospital. In conclusion, few cancer patients undergo CPR in the ED. Whether this results from an increase in terminally ill patients choosing DNR status requires further study. Patients and Methods: This study analysed data from the Asian RARC consortium, a multicentre registry involving nine Asian centres. Cases were divided into two groups according to the presence or absence of pre-operative hydronephrosis. Background characteristics, operative details, perioperative outcomes, and oncological results were reviewed. Outcomes were (1) survival outcomes, including 10-year disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS), and (2) perioperative and pathological results. Multivariate regression analyses were performed on survival outcomes. Results: From 2007 to 2020, 536 non-metastatic MIBC patients receiving RARC were analysed. 429 had no hydronephrosis (80.0%), and 107 (20.0%) had hydronephrosis. Hydronephrosis was found to be predictive of inferior DFS (HR = 1.701, p = 0.003, 95% CI = 1.196–2.418) and OS (HR = 1.834, p = 0.008, 95% CI = 1.173–2.866). Subgroup analysis demonstrated differences in the T2-or-above subgroup (HR = 1.65; p = 0.004 in DFS and HR = 1.888; p = 0.008 in OS) and the T3-or-above subgroup (HR = 1.757; p = 0.017 in DFS and HR = 1.807; p = 0.034 in OS). Conclusions: The presence of preoperative hydronephrosis among MIBC patients carries additional prognostic implications on top of tumour staging. A cross-sectional study was conducted, including patients under the care of the oncology department at a tertiary medical center between June 2021 and October 2023. Depression and anxiety were assessed using the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) short forms. Logistic regression analysis identified risk factors for depression and anxiety. The study population included 159 patients, with 40.3% reporting worsening mental health, but only about half of them received therapy. Among the study participants, 22.6% experienced symptoms of depression and 30.2% experienced symptoms of anxiety. Single-cancer patients and those with metastases were at increased risk for depression, while those with a disease duration of more than a year and patients with female-specific cancer were more likely to experience anxiety. Exclusion criteria comprised in vitro and animal studies, reviews, and pilot studies. The resulting four human-based studies were scrutinized for insights into genetic influences on CIOF. Simple Summary: Lung-resected patients experience physical deterioration that limits their quality of life, but there are important gaps in the knowledge of the evolution of this deterioration. The aim of this study was to assess physical deterioration in lung cancer survivors in the short and medium term, using self-administered functional measures that would allow us to obtain information about patients' perceptions. For these reasons, to increase the current knowledge on lung cancer patients' impairment, the aim of this study was to characterize the self-perceived physical deconditioning of lung cancer patients undergoing lung resection in the short and medium term after surgery. Methods. A longitudinal, observational, prospective cohort study was performed in the Thoracic Surgery Service of the Hospital Virgen de las Nieves (Granada). Symptoms (pain, fatigue, cough and dyspnea) and physical fitness (upper and lower limbs) were assessed before surgery, at discharge and at one month after discharge. Results. Among the total of 88 patients that we included in our study, significant differences were found at discharge in symptoms (p < 0.05) and physical fitness (p < 0.05). One month after surgery, higher levels of pain (p = 0,002) and dyspnea (p = 0.007) were observed, as well as poorer results in the upper (p = 0.023) and lower limbs' physical fitness, with regard to the initial values. Background: Cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Dyspnea, affecting up to 60% of cancer patients, exacerbates physical and psychological distress, reducing quality of life. This study aims to explore the relationship between dyspnea and factors such as age, sex, clinical diagnosis, and treatment lines in cancer patients, with the goal of improving understanding and management of this debilitating symptom to enhance patient care and quality of life. Methods: This study employed an observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive approach to investigate patients with oncological disease at the University Hospital of Salamanca between March 2021 and April 2024. A convenience sample was selected, including patients over 18 years old with a pathological diagnosis of cancer, experiencing any degree of dyspnea, and who consented to participate by signing the informed consent. Exclusion criteria included lack of consent and clinical conditions that prevented an interview. The studied variables encompass sociodemographic (age, gender, diagnosis, tumor stage, number of treatment lines) and clinical aspects (daily activities, degree of dyspnea, functional capacity, physical performance), evaluated using the Barthel Index, the mMRC Dyspnea Scale, the ECOG Scale, and the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB). Data were collected through semistructured interviews and medical records, and analyzed using specialized software. This research has ethical approval CEiM Code 2023 12 1472, Reference 2024/01. Results: The mean age was 66.82 years. Lung cancer was predominant (60.2%), with most patients in stage 3 (65.7%) and receiving three treatment lines (68.7%). Higher age, advanced disease stage, and more treatment lines correlated with lower Barthel and SPPB scores, and higher ECOG and mMRC scores, indicating worse functionality, physical performance, and greater dyspnea. No significant correlations were found between gender or pathological diagnosis and the studied variables. Conclusions: Advanced age, higher disease stage, and more treatment lines are associated with decreased functionality, poorer physical performance, and increased dyspnea in cancer patients. Gender and specific cancer diagnosis do not significantly affect these relationships. Addressing dyspnea is crucial to improving the quality of life and physical performance in this population. Background: Spiritual care for patients at the end of life is an important element in their holistic care. The aim of this study is to assess the opinions of cancer patients with limited prognosis about the importance of faith in fighting illness and the factors contributing to a better adjustment to illness and to their self-reconciliation and spiritual well-being. Material and Methods: This study used a specially designed questionnaire for cancer patients with limited prognosis. The 30 respondents were patients with an estimated prognosis of less than 1 month, cared for in a unit with palliative and home care beds. Results: The patients emphasized the importance of family as a supporter in the fight against disease (90%), followed by faith (66.7%) and a care team (63.3%). The most common concerns expressed were related to the course of their disease, family distress, fear of death, and the Russian–Ukrainian war. Conclusion: Family and faith represent important factors in supporting and caring for a patient at the end-of-life. Background: Opt2Move is a theory-guided moderate and vigorous physical activity (MVPA) promotion trial that uses multiphase optimization strategy (MOST) methodology to evaluate the individual and combined effects of four intervention components in a full factorial experiment among young adult cancer survivors (YACS; N = 304). All participants will receive the core mHealth MVPA intervention, which includes a Fitbit and standard self-monitoring Opt2Move smartphone application. YACS will be randomized to one of 16 conditions to receive between zero and four additional components each with two levels (yes v. no): E-Coach, buddy, general mindfulness, and MVPA-specific mindfulness. Objective: The primary aim is to determine the individual and combined effects of the components on MVPA post-intervention (12-weeks) and at 24-week follow-up. The secondary aim is to examine how changes in MVPA are associated with patient-reported outcomes, light-intensity activity, sedentary time, and sleep duration and quality. Potential mediators and moderators of component effects will also be examined. Results: Results will support the selection of a package of intervention components optimized to maximize MVPA to be tested in a randomized controlled trial. Objective. Oncology and palliative care guidelines for patients with incurable cancer recommend supporting patients at the end of life (EOL) by considering their personal values, wishes, and goals to facilitate decision making in advance care planning and patient‐centered care. It is unclear, though, how to successfully address and integrate personal values in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to explore values, wishes, and goals from the perspective of patients with advanced lung cancer. Methods. Semistructured interviews were conducted with patients with advanced lung cancer and transcribed verbatim. The data were analysed using a structured content analysis. After identification of main categories, values were identified using Schwartz's Theory of Basic Human Values as a theoretical framework. Results. Identified main categories were "the individual in medical care," "living now," and "coming to terms." Values in the dimensions "conservation" and "openness to change" were described concerning patient‐physician interaction, therapy goals, preparedness for EOL, and life goals. "Self‐transcendence" values mainly related to caring for the burden on relatives. In general, patients showed reluctance in expressing information about personal values when communicating with physicians. Conclusion. Patients with advanced lung cancer engage in various ways to determine how they want and can influence their life and medical care. Different values and the associated wishes and goals play a crucial role in this context and should be taken into account by healthcare providers. The reluctance to express personal information in medical encounters underscores the need for a proactive attitude in physicians and improved interprofessional collaboration. Background: Person-centred care is becoming increasingly recognised as an important element of palliative care. The current review syntheses evidence in relation to transitions in advanced cancer patients with palliative care needs. The review focuses on specific elements which will inform the Pal-Cycles programme, for patients with advanced cancer transitioning from hospital care to community care. Elements of transitional models for cancer patients may include, identification of palliative care needs, compassionate communication with the patient and family members, collaborative effort to establish a multi-dimensional treatment plan, review and evaluation of the treatment plan and identification of the end of life phase. Methods: A scoping review of four databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO) was conducted to identify peer-reviewed studies published from January 2013 to October, 2022. A further hand-search of references to locate additional relevant studies was also undertaken. Inclusion criteria involved cancer patients transitions of care with a minimum of two of components from those listed above. Studies were excluded if they were literature reviews, if transition of care was related to cancer survivors, involved non-cancer patients, had paediatric population, if the transition implied a change of therapy and or a lack of physical transit to a non-hospital place of care. This review was guided by Arksey and O'Malley's framework and narrative synthesis was used. Results: Out of 5695 records found, 14 records were selected. Transition models identified: increases in palliative care consultations, hospice referrals, reduction in readmission rates and the ability to provide end of life care at home. Transition models highlight emotional and spiritual support for patients and families. No uniform model of transition was apparent, this depends on the healthcare system where it is implemented. Conclusions: The findings highlight the importance of collaboration, coordination and communication as central mechanisms for transitional model for patients with advanced cancer. An ever-growing body of empirical evidence has demonstrated the relationship between depression and cancer. The objective of this study was to examine whether depression trajectories predict mortality risk above and beyond demographics and other general health-related factors. Participants (n = 2,345) were a part of the Health and Retirement Study. The sample consisted of patients who were assessed once before their cancer diagnosis and thrice after. Depressive symptoms and general health-related factors were based on self-reports. Mortality risk was determined based on whether the patient was alive or not at respective time points. Latent Growth Mixture Modeling was performed to map trajectories of depression, assess differences in trajectories based on demographics and general health-related factors, and predict mortality risk. Four trajectories of depression symptoms emerged: resilient (69.7%), emerging (13.5%), recovery (9.5%), and chronic (7.2%). Overall, females, fewer years of education, higher functional impairment at baseline, and high mortality risk characterized the emerging, recovery, and chronic trajectories. In comparison to the resilient trajectory, mortality risk was highest for the emerging trajectory and accounted for more than half of the deaths recorded for the participants in emerging trajectory. Mortality risk was also significantly elevated, although to a lesser degree, for the recovery and chronic trajectories. The data highlights clinically relevant information about the depression-cancer association that can have useful implications towards cancer treatment, recovery, and public health. Background: Familism, the cultural value that emphasizes feelings of loyalty and dedication to one's family, has been related to both positive and negative outcomes in Hispanic cancer survivors. One potential source of observed inconsistencies may be limited attention to the family environment, as familism may be protective in a cohesive family whereas it can exacerbate distress in a conflictive family. Purpose: The current study explored the associations of familism with general and disease-specific health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Hispanic men who completed prostate cancer (PC) treatment, and whether family cohesion may help explain these relationships. Methods: Hispanic men treated for localized PC (e.g., radiation, surgery) were enrolled in a randomized controlled stress management trial and assessed prior to randomization. Familism (familial obligation) was assessed using Sabogal's Familism Scale and family cohesion was measured using the Family Environment Scale (ranging from high to low). The sexual, urinary incontinence, and urinary obstructive/irritative domains of the Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite – Short Form measured disease-specific HRQoL. The physical, emotional, and functional well-being subscales of the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy – General captured general HRQoL. Hierarchical linear regression and the SPSS PROCESS macro were used to conduct moderation analyses, while controlling for relevant covariates. Results: Participants were 202 older men on average 65.7 years of age (SD = 8.0) who had been diagnosed with PC an average of 22 months prior to enrollment. Familism was not directly associated with general and disease-specific HRQoL. Moderation analyses revealed that greater familism was related to poorer urinary functioning in the incontinence (p =.03) and irritative/obstructive domains (p =.01), and lower emotional well-being (p =.02), particularly when family cohesion was low. Conclusions: These findings underscore the importance of considering contextual factors, such as family cohesion, in understanding the influence of familism on general and disease-specific HRQoL among Hispanic PC patients. The combined influence of familism and family cohesion predicts clinically meaningful differences in urinary functioning and emotional well-being during the posttreatment phase. Individuals with cancer are recommended to engage in regular physical activity (PA) even during cancer therapy. The aim of this study was to explore how patient-reported physician PA counseling influences their PA intention and behavior in addition to psycho-cognitive determinants derived from the theory of planned behavior (TPB). A longitudinal study during cancer treatment was conducted among N = 115 patients with breast, prostate, or colorectal cancer (Mage = 58.0, SD = 11.5; 55.7% female). The median time since diagnosis was 2 months, and 19.1% were diagnosed with metastases. Participants provided information on PA counseling by their physicians and on psycho-cognitive variables of the TPB at three measurement points. Additionally, they wore accelerometers for seven days at baseline and three months later. Nearly half of participants (48%) reported basic PA counseling and 30% reported in-depth PA counseling. Patients in poorer health and with lower education reported significantly less in-depth counseling. In addition to patient self-efficacy in performing PA, only in-depth physician PA counseling, but not basic physician counseling, predicted intention for PA four weeks later. Patients' PA three months after baseline was predicted by patients' PA at baseline and their intention for PA. Overall, the PA level at baseline was identified as the most important predictor of PA three months later. Having more than three children was associated with lower mortality among Muslim Arab women but not among Jewish women. European/American origin, larger localities, and medium socioeconomic status were associated with higher mortality. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are widely being utilized for PCa disparities research, however, inconsistencies in their application exist. This systematic review will summarize GIS application within PCa disparities research, highlight gaps in the literature, and propose alternative approaches. Methods: This paper followed the methods of the Cochrane Collaboration and the criteria set of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Articles published in peer-reviewed journals were searched through the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases until December 2022. The main inclusion criteria were employing a GIS approach and examining a relationship between geographical components and PCa disparities. The main exclusion criteria were studies conducted outside the US and those that were not published in English. Results: A total of 25 articles were included; 23 focused on PCa measures as outcomes: incidence, survival, and mortality, while only 2 examined PCa management. GIS application in PCa disparities research was grouped into three main categories: mapping, processing, and analysis. GIS mapping allowed for the visualization of quantitative, qualitative, and temporal trends of PCa factors. GIS processing was mainly used for geocoding and smoothing of PCa rates. GIS analysis mainly served to evaluate global spatial autocorrelation and distribution of PCa cases, while local cluster identification techniques were mainly employed to identify locations with poorer PCa outcomes, soliciting public health interventions. Discussion: Varied GIS applications and methodologies have been used in researching PCa disparities. Multiple geographical scales were adopted, leading to variations in associations and outcomes. Geocoding quality varied considerably, leading to less robust findings. Limitations in cluster-detection approaches were identified, especially when variations were captured using the Spatial Scan Statistic. GIS approaches utilized in other diseases might be applied within PCa disparities research for more accurate inferences. A novel approach for GIS research in PCa disparities could be focusing more on geospatial disparities in procedure utilization especially when it comes to PCa screening techniques. Conclusions: This systematic review summarized and described the current state and trend of GIS application in PCa disparities research. Although GIS is of crucial importance when it comes to PCa disparities research, future studies should rely on more robust GIS techniques, carefully select the geographical scale studied, and partner with GIS scientists for more accurate inferences. Simple Summary: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer detected among men and it is the second leading cause of death. According to the WHO, cobalt is probably involved in carcinogenesis. However, there are no studies related to cobalt levels and survival in prostate cancer patients. The aim of this prospective study was to investigate the relationship between serum cobalt levels and survival among prostate cancer patients taking into consideration prostate cancer-specific deaths and non-cancer causes of death. Our findings, based on 261 Polish prostate cancer patients, show that individuals with high serum cobalt levels have a significantly worse survival compared to participants with low serum cobalt levels. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in men and the second leading cause of death in male cancer patients. The WHO suggests that cobalt is involved in the carcinogenesis of prostate cancer. There are, however, no studies associating cobalt levels and prostate cancer patient survival. In this study, 261 Polish prostate cancer (n = 261) patients were recruited into a prospective cohort between 2009 and 2015. Serum cobalt levels were measured using ICP-MS after prostate cancer diagnosis and before treatment. All study participants were assigned into quartiles (QI-QIV) based on the distribution of serum cobalt levels among censored patients. Univariable and multivariable COX regression models were used to calculate hazard ratios (HRs) for each serum cobalt level quartile. We found a significant relationship between high serum cobalt levels and poor prostate cancer patient total survival (HR = 2.60; 95% CI: 1.17–5.82; p = 0.02). In relation to prostate cancer patients who died as a result of other non-cancer causes, the association with high levels of cobalt was even stronger (HR = 3.67; 95% CI: 1.03–13.00; p = 0.04). Background: Family caregivers of terminally ill and dying people do not only experience varying levels but also different dimensions of caregiver-related strain and burden. The aim of the study was to develop a short multidimensional screening tool for the detection of burden in family caregivers in palliative care. Methods: Family caregivers of cancer patients newly admitted to specialist inpatient palliative care (N = 232) completed questionnaires on psychological burden, quality of life, social support and need fulfillment. A latent class mixture model was used to identify discrete classes of family caregivers related to their multidimensional caregiver burden. Multinomial logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the most predictive items from a set of established questionnaires. Results: Four latent classes of family caregivers were identified: Currently stable caregivers (37%), Caregivers with unmet needs (20%), Psychologically burdened caregivers (30%), and High-risk caregivers (13%). Each of these classes describes a different risk profile of multidimensional family caregiver burden, although family caregivers exhibit high levels of distress across all classes. From a set of 48 items, we identified eight items that predicted the class membership best. These items represent the items of the novel multidimensional screening tool: The 8-item Screening Tool for Family Caregiver Burden in Palliative Care (CAREPAL-8). Except for social support, the items maintained fidelity to the conceptualization of multidimensional caregiver burden used in this study. A preliminary classification system was developed, which has yet to be validated. Conclusions: This study represents the first step in the establishment of a practical, self-administered screening tool that might help healthcare providers to tailor caregiver care according to their burden in daily practice. Cancer poses a significant health threat to the elderly, accounting for a substantial proportion of cancer patients aged 65 and above. As life expectancy continues to rise and the population ages, the incidence of cancer in the elderly is expected to increase further. Age is a major risk factor for the majority of common cancers, with the incidence and prevalence rising as individuals grow older. Factors such as chemoprevention and environmental carcinogen elimination may influence the process of carcinogenesis. Studies reveal that the incidence and mortality rates of various cancers in the elderly and extremely old individuals are on the rise worldwide, with most types peaking around the age of 75 to 90, followed by a sharp decline. Birth cohort and period effects also play a complex role in the connection between aging and cancer risk. Clinical trials often exclude older individuals, limiting our understanding of cancer treatments' effects on this particular age group. Background: Combined pre-operative bowel preparation with oral antibiotics (OAB) and mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) is the current recommendation for elective colorectal surgery. Few have studied racial disparities in bowel preparation and subsequent post-operative complications. Methods: This retrospective cohort study used 2015–2021 ACS-NSQIP-targeted data for elective colectomy for colon cancer. Multivariate regression evaluated predictors of post-operative outcomes: post-operative ileus, anastomotic leak, surgical site infection (SSI), operative time, and hospital length of stay (LOS). Results: 72,886 patients were evaluated with 82.1% White, 11.1% Black, and 6.8% Asian or Asian Pacific Islander (AAPI); 4.2% were Hispanic and 51.4% male. Regression accounting for age, sex, ASA classification, comorbidities, and operative approach showed Black, AAPI, and Hispanic patients were more likely to have had no bowel preparation compared to White patients receiving MBP+OAB. Compared to White patients, Black and AAPI patients had higher odds of prolonged LOS and pro-longed operative time. Black patients had higher odds of post-operative ileus. Conclusions: Racial disparities exist in both bowel preparation administration and post-operative complications despite the method of bowel preparation. This warrants exploration into discriminatory bowel preparation practices and potential differences in the efficacy of bowel preparation in specific populations due to biological or social differences, which may affect outcomes. Prostate cancer affects one in nine men, so understanding patients' and their partners experiences is crucial for developing effective treatments. The purpose of this review was to synthesis and report the experiences and views of persons with prostate cancer and their partners. Methods: A qualitative evidence synthesis (QES) was conducted following the eMERGe reporting guideline. Six databases were searched for the relevant literature, and the Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) tool was used for quality appraisal. Results: A total of 1372 papers were identified, and 36 met the inclusion criteria. Four themes emerged: quality of life, relationships and dynamics, treatment journey and survivorship and aftercare. Conclusions: Prostate cancer's impact on patients and partners is significant, requiring comprehensive support, holistic care, tailored assistance, and research into therapies to minimize adverse effects and address emotional distress and relationship strain. Prostate cancer treatment causes physical changes, triggering feelings of loss and grief, and affects coping mechanisms. Drawing on emotional support and education is vital for boosting confidence and resilience, as many patients and partners face fears of recurrence and lifestyle changes, highlighting the need for tailored information and presurgery support. Background: Quality of life (QoL) is an important determinant of physical and mental health. QoL in head and neck cancer tends to deteriorate due to changes in the physical, functional, psychological aspects. EORTC-QLQ-H&N35 is an instrument that measure the QoL specifically in head and neck cancer patients. EORTC-QLQ-H&N35 give a numeric value to QoL of patients with high value correspond to better QoL. Objective: The aim of present study was to find out the cut-off points of numeric values of EORTC-QLQ-H&N35 to categorize QoL impairment into different categories (normal, mild, moderate, and severe). Present study also aims analyze the QoL among head and neck cancer patients under these new categories. Methodology: Total 205 patients of head and neck cancer visiting to the outpatient unit were enrolled in this study. Hindi version of EORTC-QLQ-H&N35 was used to evaluate the QoL. Total 9 classification schemes were created with different cut-off points to classify the global QoL score into normal, mild, moderate and severe categories. QoL data was then analyze using the scheme having highest F value in ANOVA test. Results: Classification scheme having cut-off values 76–100 for normal QoL, 51–75 for mild QoL impairment, 26–50 for moderate and 0–25 for severe QoL impairment found to have highest F value (729.915) in ANOVA test. The mean QoL score among total 205 patients were 60.08 ± 19.06. Based on the new classification scheme, QoL was normal in 46 (22.4%) patients whereas QoL was impaired to mild level in 76 (37.1%) patients, to moderate level in 76 (37.1%) and to severe level in 7 (3.4%) patients. Role functioning, emotional functioning and social functioning was impaired to severe level in 4 (2.0%), 13 (6.3%) and 3 (1.5%) patients respectively. Conclusion: EORTC-QLQ-H&N35 offer a comprehensive review of QoL in head and neck cancer patients. Background: More than 50% of colorectal cancer(CRC) patients experience cancer-related psychological burden after radical surgery, which can seriously affect their physical wellness, quality of life and even survival outcomes. Our research team developed a six-week Traditional Chinese Medicine Combined Online Group Psychotherapy (TCM-eRhab) and proved its efficacy on relieving cancer-related anxiety, depression and fear of cancer recurrence though phase I single arm clinical trial (n = 40). Large sample size randomized controlled clinical trial(RCT) is necessary to further evaluate TCM-eRhab's role on improving quality of life and survival outcomes among this population. Methods: We design a phase II RCT study, in which 210 CRC patients who have received radical surgery (stage I-III) will be recruited. Eligible patients will be randomly assigned to TCM-eRhab group or usual care group by 2:1 ratio. Patients in the intervention group will receive the structured TCM-eRhab program for six weeks, while patients in control group will receive usual care only. The primary outcomes are quality of life, severity of anxiety, depression and fear of cancer recurrence. Cancer recurrence rate will also be calculated according to long term follow-up data. Discussion: As one of the first RCTs to evaluate the impacts of TCM combined psychological therapy to improve CRC patients' quality of life after surgery, the results from this study will provide innovative knowledge and evidence on integrating TCM into CRC survivorship care and mind–body intervention model. Purpose. The aim of this umbrella review was to identify the main information needs of breast cancer survivors. Since several reviews have already been done on this topic, conducting an umbrella review not only combines their results but also gives a comprehensive picture and informative summary of breast cancer survivors' needs. Method. The search was performed in PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest, Cochrane, and Google Scholar from inception to the end of March 2024. This review was conducted according to the JBI methodology for umbrella reviews, and the report was based on Rutten's category for information needs of patients with cancer. After removing duplicate and irrelevant articles, 14 systematic reviews were included in the analysis. The JBI checklist was used for evaluating the quality of eligible articles. Results. The information needs were classified into 11 main categories and 86 subcategories. As a result of this umbrella review, one category was added to Rutten's 10 categories. Also, treatment information needs were introduced as the main identified category. Information on supportive care needs ranked second, and body image/sexuality information needs ranked third with a slight difference. Conclusion. The information needs outlined in the present study can serve as a general model to help clinical decision makers and policymakers in order to better understand the needs of the group and meet the information needs of the population. Simple Summary: Differentiating pediatric posterior fossa (PF) tumors such as medulloblastoma (MB), ependymoma (EP), and pilocytic astrocytoma (PA) remains relevant, due to important treatment and prognostic implications. Estimating diffusion values from whole-tumor-based (VOI) segmentations may improve the repeatability of diffusion measurements compared to conventional region-of-interest (ROI) approaches. Background and purpose: Differentiating pediatric posterior fossa (PF) tumors such as medulloblastoma (MB), ependymoma (EP), and pilocytic astrocytoma (PA) remains relevant, because of important treatment and prognostic implications. Diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) has not yet been investigated for discrimination of pediatric PF tumors. Estimating diffusion values from whole-tumor-based (VOI) segmentations may improve diffusion measurement repeatability compared to conventional region-of-interest (ROI) approaches. Our purpose was to compare repeatability between ROI and VOI DKI-derived diffusion measurements and assess DKI accuracy in discriminating among pediatric PF tumors. Materials and methods: We retrospectively analyzed 34 children (M, F, mean age 7.48 years) with PF tumors who underwent preoperative examination on a 3 Tesla magnet, including DKI. For each patient, two neuroradiologists independently segmented the whole solid tumor, the ROI of the area of maximum tumor diameter, and a small 5 mm ROI. The automated analysis pipeline included inter-observer variability, statistical, and machine learning (ML) analyses. We evaluated inter-observer variability with coefficient of variation (COV) and Bland–Altman plots. We estimated DKI metrics accuracy in discriminating among tumor histology with MANOVA analysis. In order to account for class imbalances, we applied SMOTE to balance the dataset. Finally, we performed a Random Forest (RF) machine learning classification analysis based on all DKI metrics from the SMOTE dataset by partitioning 70/30 the training and testing cohort. Results: Tumor histology included medulloblastoma (15), pilocytic astrocytoma (14), and ependymoma (5). VOI-based measurements presented lower variability than ROI-based measurements across all DKI metrics and were used for the analysis. DKI-derived metrics could accurately discriminate between tumor subtypes (Pillai's trace: p < 0.001). SMOTE generated 11 synthetic observations (10 EP and 1 PA), resulting in a balanced dataset with 45 instances (34 original and 11 synthetic). ML analysis yielded an accuracy of 0.928, which correctly predicted all but one lesion in the testing set. Conclusions: VOI-based measurements presented improved repeatability compared to ROI-based measurements across all diffusion metrics. An ML classification algorithm resulted accurate in discriminating PF tumors on a SMOTE-generated dataset. Simple Summary: Quality of life significantly affects health outcomes in cancer patients. However, evidence of an association between diet quality and quality of life in cancer survivors is sparse in Mediterranean countries. The aim of this study was to evaluate the associations between an a priori diet quality index, the Healthy Eating Index-2015 (HEI-2015), and quality of life, assessed through a validated questionnaire targeted at women with a breast cancer diagnosis. A higher HEI-2015 score was positively associated with summary quality of life score and inversely associated with symptom scores. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) represents one of the most concerning aspects for cancer patients. The Healthy Eating Index (HEI) is an a priori diet quality index directly associated with health outcomes and HRQoL in cancer survivors in North American populations. We evaluated, in a Mediterranean population, the baseline associations between HEI-2015 and HRQoL in 492 women with breast cancer recruited in a DEDiCa lifestyle trial. Dietary data were obtained from 7-day food records; HRQoL was assessed through the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 (EORTC QLQ C30) and the C30 Summary Score (SumSc). Analysis of variance and multivariable linear and log-gamma regression models were performed. Mean and standard deviation for HEI-2015 score was 68.8 ± 11.2; SumSc was 81.5 ± 12.9. Women with lower HEI-2015 score had higher BMI, were more frequently exposed to tobacco smoke and had fewer years of education. Patients with a HEI-2015 score greater than 68.7 (median value) showed a significant increase in SumSc of 4% (p = 0.02). HEI-2015 components also associated with SumSc were beans and greens (β = 1.04; p = 0.02). Weak associations were found for total vegetables and saturated fats. Higher diet quality in breast cancer survivors was associated with higher overall HRQoL in this cross-sectional analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Genetic Risk Analysis in ovarian CancEr (GRACE) study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of retrospective identification ("Traceback") of both individuals diagnosed with ovarian cancer and their families who could benefit from genetic risk information. The GRACE study findings can assist health care systems to implement and increase genetic testing for survivors of ovarian cancer and other hereditary cancers. Background: Recommendations state all people with ovarian cancers (OCs) receive genetic counseling, but testing uptake is only between 15 and 31%. Those with a prior diagnosis of OC who have not received genetic testing represent a missed opportunity for life-saving genetic risk information. The Genetic Risk Analysis in ovarian CancEr (GRACE) study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of the retrospective identification ("Traceback") of individuals diagnosed with OC. Methods: This nonrandomized intervention study within two integrated health care systems identified participants with a history of OC between 1998 and 2020 who did not have genetic testing or testing limited to BRCA1/2. Participants received clinical genomic sequencing via a custom 60 gene panel. This study measured the feasibility of the Traceback methodology in OC survivors. Results: The initial cohort included 929 individuals, of which 57% had no prior genetic testing. Of the 302 eligible for recruitment, 88 consented to participate. We were able to outreach 97% of the eligible population using contact information from medical records. The stage at diagnosis was the only factor associated with consent. Of the 78 who returned their saliva sample, 21% had pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants, and 79% had negative results. Conclusion: The GRACE study resulted in a 29% uptake of genetic testing in OC survivors. The time since diagnosis did not have an impact on consent or ability to contact. Simple Summary: Perineural invasion (PNI) is the infiltration of cancer cells into peripheral nerves and is recognized as potential cancer metastasis. The presence of PNI has been extensively studied as a prognostic factor in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) recently. The aim of this study was to quantitatively assess the prognostic value of PNI in HNSCC. From the results of the systematic review and meta-analysis, we confirmed that PNI is an independent prognostic factor in HNSCC. Specifically, HNSCC patients with PNI have worse survival, and are more likely to relapse locally, regionally, and distantly compared to those without PNI. We hope that these findings can serve as a basis for consideration of PNI as an indicator for more advanced pathological stages and more intensive clinical management for HNSCC patients. The aim of this study was to conduct a comprehensive review of the predictive significance of PNI in HNSCC survival outcomes. A systematic search was conducted across multiple databases, and all studies published in the last decade were screened (Research Registry ID: reviewregistry1853). The included studies were assessed using the Quality in Prognosis Studies tool. Survival outcome data were extracted, combined, and presented as hazard ratios (HR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI). Totally, 74 studies encompassing 27,559 patients were analyzed and revealed a cumulative occurrent rate of 30% for PNI in HNSCC. PNI+ HNSCC patients had a worse overall survival (HR: 1.91, 95% CI: 1.71–2.13), disease-specific survival (HR: 1.79, 95% CI: 1.55–2.07), disease-free survival (HR: 1.82, 95% CI: 1.69–1.96), local recurrence (HR: 2.54, 95% CI: 1.93–3.33), locoregional recurrence (HR: 2.27, 95% CI: 1.82–2.82), locoregional relapse free survival (HR: 1.77, 95% CI: 1.28–2.45), distant metastasis (HR: 1.82, 95% CI: 1.34–2.48), and distant metastasis-free survival (HR: 2.97, 95% CI: 1.82–4.85) compared to those PNI– patients. Background: Psychological factors such as anxiety and mood appear to influence acute postoperative pain; however, there is conflicting evidence on the relationship between preoperative psychological parameters and the severity of postoperative pain. In the context of the stressful setting of initial surgery for breast cancer, we conducted a prospective observational study of patients who were scheduled to undergo initial breast cancer surgery. Methods: The objectives were to examine the potential associations between predefined preoperative psychological parameters and (i) Self-reported pain scores at discharge from the postoperative acute care unit, (ii) Cumulative perioperative opioid consumption at four hours postoperatively and (iii) Self-reported pain as measured during the first seven days after surgery. Patients completed the following questionnaires during the three hours prior to surgery: the Spielberger State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI State and Trait), the Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), the Cohen Stress Questionnaire (CSQ), the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS A and D), and the short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire. Postoperative pain experience was assessed using patient self-reports of pain (SF Magill Pain questionnaire on discharge from the postanaesthesia care unit and a pain diary for seven days postoperatively) and records of analgesic consumption. Results: Pre- to postoperative self-reported pain was significantly different with respect to the STAI State, Cohen score and PCS for both low and high values (p < 0.001), but only patients categorized as having low STAI Trait, HADS A, and HADS D values achieved significant differences (p < 0.001). A significant positive correlation was demonstrated between preoperative state anxiety (STAI) and the most severe pain reported during the first seven days postoperatively (r = 0.271, p = 0.013). Patients who were categorized preoperatively as having a "high value" for each of the psychological parameters studied (HADS A and D, STAI State and Trait and PCS) tended to have greater perioperative opioid consumption (up to four hours postoperatively); this trend was statistically significant for HADS D and HADS A only. Using a linear regression model, state anxiety was found to be a significant predictor of postoperative pain based on self-reports during the first seven postoperative days (standardized β = 0.271, t = 2.286, p = 0.025). Conclusion: Preoperative state anxiety, in particular, is associated with the severity of postoperative pain experienced by women undergoing initial breast cancer surgery. Background: Patient reported outcomes (PROs) are being used frequently in clinical practice. PROs often serve several purposes, such as increasing patient involvement, assessing health status, and monitoring and improving the quality-of-care at an aggregated level. However, the lack of representative PRO-data may have implications for all these purposes. This study aims to assess the association of non-administration of (not sending an electronic invite to PRO) and non-response to (not responding to PRO) electronically administered PROs with social inequality in a primary healthcare cancer rehabilitation setting. Furthermore, it examines whether the workflows surrounding PRO have an impact on non-administration and non-response. Methods: This is a cross sectional study using routinely collected data from electronic health records and registers including cancer survivors (CSs) over 18 years booked for an initial consultation in a primary healthcare cancer rehabilitation setting using PROs for systematic health status assessment. During the study period two different PRO platforms were used, each associated with different workflows. Non-administration and non-response rates were calculated for sociodemographic characteristics for each PRO platform. Crude and adjusted odds ratios were calculated using univariate and multivariate logistic regression. Results: In total, 1868 (platform 1) and 1446 (platform 2) CSCSs were booked for an initial consultation. Of these, 233 (12.5%) (platform 1) and 283 (19.6%) (platform 2) were not sent a PRO (non-administration). Among those who received a PRO, 157 (9.6%) on platform 1 and 140 (12.0%) on platform 2 did not respond (non-response). Non-administration of and non-response to PROs were significantly associated with lower socioeconomic status. Moreover, the workflows surrounding PROs seem to have an impact on non-inclusion in and non-response to PROs. Conclusions: Non-administration of and non-response to PROs in clinical practice is associated with determinants of social inequality. Clinical workflows and the PRO platforms used may potentially worsen this inequality. It is important to consider these implications when using PROs at both the individual and aggregated levels. Objective. Due to various long‐term consequences of the disease, cancer survivors (CS) can experience incompatibilities between areas of life (work, family, household, leisure time, and disease) that can be associated with reduced satisfaction with these areas of life. To be able to assess such incompatibilities quantitatively, a six‐item instrument (INCOMPAT‐CS) was developed and psychometrically evaluated. Methods. Based on relevant theories, a multidisciplinary team developed the items of the INCOMPAT‐CS. Descriptive analyses, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, as well as validity and reliability assessments were conducted using survey data from n = 293 CS collected as part of the CARES study. Incompatibilities between areas of life were measured with the newly developed INCOMPAT‐CS instrument. Results. A one component solution with satisfactory model fit (normed χ2 = 1.90, RMSEA = 0.06, CFI = 0.99, and TLI = 0.97) was identified in exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The INCOMPAT‐CS demonstrated acceptable internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.790) and high test‐retest reliability ρ = 0.569 (p < 0.001). Convergent validity could be demonstrated (CR = 0.858 and AVE = 0.506). Hypothesis‐consistent correlations with role and social functioning measures further indicate convergent validity. Conclusions. The INCOMPAT‐CS is useful to assess incompatibilities among areas of life in CS quantitatively. Moreover, it helps to reveal the areas negatively affected due to incompatibilities. This short instrument can be useful in aftercare or psychosocial support interventions to detect incompatibilities and work towards reducing them as a consequence to increase CS' wellbeing.
