To assess the health literacy of this population, researchers have been focussing on developing instruments to measure their health literacy. Compared to the wider availability of instruments for adults, only a few tools are known for younger age groups. The objective of this study is to systematically review the field of generic child and adolescent health literacy measurement instruments that are currently available. METHOD: A systematic literature search was undertaken in five databases (PubMed, CINAHL, PsycNET, ERIC, and FIS) on articles published between January 1990 and July 2015, addressing children and adolescents ≤18 years old. Eligible articles were analysed, data was extracted, and synthesised according to review objectives. RESULTS: Fifteen generic health literacy measurement instruments for children and adolescents were identified. All, except two, are self-administered instruments. Seven are objective measures (performance-based tests), seven are subjective measures (self-reporting), and one uses a mixed-method measurement. Most instruments applied a broad and multidimensional understanding of health literacy. The instruments were developed in eight different countries, with most tools originating in the United States (n = 6). Among the instruments, 31 different components related to health literacy were identified. Accordingly, the studies exhibit a variety of implicit or explicit conceptual and operational definitions, and most instruments have been used in schools and other educational contexts. While the youngest age group studied was 7-year-old children within a parent-child study, there is only one instrument specifically designed for primary school children and none for early years. CONCLUSIONS: Despite the reported paucity of health literacy research involving children and adolescents, an unexpected number of health literacy measurement studies in children's populations was found. Most instruments tend to measure their own specific understanding of health literacy and not all provide sufficient conceptual information. To advance health literacy instruments, a much more standardised approach is necessary including improved reporting on the development and validation processes. The aim of this paper is to examine how Swedish newspaper articles portrayed domestic violence during the corona pandemic and to identify the risks of increased domestic violence depicted in the media. The study is based on the qualitative content analysis of 32 newspaper articles published between March 11th and April 15th 2020. Social constructivism theory, intersectional theory and framing theory were used in order to gain a deeper understanding of the results. The victims were in most articles described as women or women and children. The perpetrator of violence was referred to in half of the articles as male and in half just as the perpetrator. The articles were mainly described from a women's aid framework. Three central themes explaining the risks of increased violence were identified; isolation, a strained position for social resources and financial stress and anxiety.

How can we bring two feminist bodies of work that operate through different media into meaningful conversation with one another? Using Fournier’s framework of autotheory, we work through this question by reading Sara Ahmed’s critical theory and Phoebe Boswell’s creative practice connectively, tracing intersectional feminist pedagogies and key concepts common to both as we go. Instead of applying critical theory to creative practices, we use creative practices as a tool to better understand how theory can be in ‘touch’ with the world. Co-writing this article is an initial step in seeking out the creative and embodied aspects of our own practice as feminist researchers. Postprint

Children whose parents have mental health issues respond to associated familial stressors with symptomatic behaviors and are, themselves, at considerably higher risk of developing serious mental health problems. Teachers are the most likely professionals who are able to recognize behavior changes and mental health needs of children. This article aims to provide an overview of the current state-of-the-art research on teachers’ mental health literacy including how teachers identify and support these children. A scoping review was undertaken with six databases by using English and German search terms for articles published between January 1990 and July 2017. This review identifies a research gap in mental health (literacy) research for a major cause of mental health issues in children. There is little recognition of students’ familial environment in the research undertaken. The founded studies show that identifying affected children is difficult for teachers. If teachers identify those children, they have great uncertainties to work with this situation. Identified teachers’ responses are insufficient for children and mostly depends on individual attitudes and experience with mental health issues. Teachers are highly stressed by the child’s school situation and need support themselves to support children adequately. Better support for teachers is required in order to prepare them adequately to support children. Based on the results opportunities for teachers’ mental health literacy are discussed to expand teachers’ ability to promote mental health in children with parents having mental health issues as well as future research activities. Background: Children and young people constitute a core target group for health literacy research and practice: during childhood and youth, fundamental cognitive, physical and emotional development processes take place and health-related behaviours and skills develop. However, there is limited knowledge and academic consensus regarding the abilities and knowledge a child or young person should possess for making sound health decisions. The research presented in this review addresses this gap by providing an overview and synthesis of current understandings of health literacy in childhood and youth. Furthermore, the authors aim to understand to what extent available models capture the unique needs and characteristics of children and young people. Method: Six databases were systematically searched with relevant search terms in English and German. Of the n = 1492 publications identified, N = 1021 entered the abstract screening and N = 340 full-texts were screened for eligibility. A total of 30 articles, which defined or conceptualized generic health literacy for a target population of 18 years or younger, were selected for a four-step inductive content analysis. Results: The systematic review of the literature identified 12 definitions and 21 models that have been specifically developed for children and young people. In the literature, health literacy in children and young people is described as comprising variable sets of key dimensions, each appearing as a cluster of related abilities, skills, commitments, and knowledge that enable a person to approach health information competently and effectively and to derive at health-promoting decisions and actions. Discussion: Identified definitions and models are very heterogeneous, depicting health literacy as multidimensional, complex construct. Moreover, health literacy is conceptualized as an action competence, with a strong focus on personal attributes, while also recognising its interrelatedness with social and contextual determinants. Life phase specificities are mainly considered from a cognitive and developmental perspective, leaving children's and young people's specific needs, vulnerabilities, and social structures poorly incorporated within most models. While a critical number of definitions and models were identified for youth or secondary school students, similar findings are lacking for children under the age of ten or within a primary school context. Il mio Carso and Der Steppenwolf both portray drinking scenes that make their protagonists reconsider their standing in relation to an increasingly fragmented modern world. Using Hubbard‘s ‘intoxicated geographies’ as an interpretative hinge, this article charts the effects of this embodied experience on the two texts. In both, the drinking lens functions as a revelatory device which highlights the transcendent liminality of modernist consciousness in various ways. By blurring the boundaries of social interaction, muddling awareness of time, and complicating notions of consciousness, the two drinking scenes allow a widening of perception that demands an analogous narrative re-positioning in response. Bakgrund: Resistenta bakterier (ESBL och MRSA) ökar runtom i Europa och anses vara ett hot mot människors hälsa. Det finns en kunskapslucka bland sjuksköterskor vad gäller smittvägar för dessa bakterier och hur omvårdnad bör ges till smittade patienter. Syfte: Att undersöka resistenta bakteriers smittvägar och vilka åtgärder i omvårdnaden av patienter som kan bryta dessa smittvägar. Metod: Vetenskapliga artiklar söktes fram i databaserna PubMed och Cinahl. Kvalitetsgranskning utfördes och därefter analyserades totalt 34 kvantitativa vetenskapliga artiklar. Analysen, som utfördes i enlighet med metod beskriven av Friberg (2012), mynnade ut i fyra kategorier efter att meningsenheter och huvudsakligt innehåll grupperats. Resultat: Huvudresultatet visade att resistenta bakterierna kan spridas via föremål och ytor i patientrum och på avdelningar samt via patienten och/eller sjuksköterskan, där händerna spelar störst roll. Åtgärder för minskad smittspridning innefattar bland annat desinficering av ytor, föremål och händer. Diskussion: Bristande handhygien, från hälso- och sjukvårdspersonalens sida, verkar vara en central faktor för smittspridning av resistenta bakterier. Detta skulle kunna bero på bristande kunskap om dessa bakterier, överbeläggningar eller tidsbrist. Slutsats: Sjuksköterskan är oumbärlig i arbetet för minskad smittspridning av resistenta bakterier. Sjuksköterskan behöver kunskap om smittvägar och hur de kan brytas för att kunna förmedla detta vidare till övrig personal. Detta för att säkerställa att samtliga på arbetsplatsen arbetar för samma mål.

Reading from Nel regno oscuro by Giorgio Pressburger followed by a conversation with the author The Jewish, Budapest-born writer Giorgio Pressburger, one of the most interesting contemporary novelists in Europe, does not write in his native Hungarian but in adoptive Italian, and has often reflected about this linguistic choice. Already in 1929 Erich Auerbach highlighted the innovative character of Dante’s oeuvre which, in contrast with its traditional interpretation as the culmination and summa of a medieval Weltanschauung, he associated with a modern representation of the human being in its individuality and historical reality. This conference gathered scholars from different disciplines (literary studies, history, linguistics, philosophy, queer theory, theatre) to discuss the role that language plays for Dante. In particular, the question with which this conference engaged is to what extent Dante’s linguistic theory and praxis, which can be understood in terms of a strenuous defense of the vernacular language, in tension with the prestige of Latin, both informs and reflects a new constellation of authority, knowledge and identity, which is imbued with a significant element of subjectivity and opens up towards modernity.
