Theranostics, a remarkable combination of diagnostics and therapeutics, has given rise to tissue/organ-format theranostic scaffolds that integrate targeted therapy and real-time disease monitoring. The scaffold is a 3D structuring template for cell or tissue attachment and growth. These scaffolds offer unprecedented opportunities for personalized medicine and hold great potential for revolutionizing healthcare. Recent advancements in fabrication techniques have enabled the creation of highly intricate and precisely engineered scaffolds with controllable physical and chemical properties, enhancing their therapeutic potential for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. This paper proposes a new categorization method for scaffolds in tissue engineering based on the relativity of scaffold design-independent parameters. Five types of scaffolds are defined at different levels, highlighting the importance of understanding and analyzing scaffold types. It possesses the ability to seamlessly integrate diagnostics and therapeutics within a single platform, enhancing the efficacy and precision of personalized medicine. Natural scaffolds derived from biomaterials and synthetic scaffolds fabricated by human intervention are discussed, with synthetic scaffolds offering advantages such as tunable mechanical properties and controlled drug delivery, while natural scaffolds provide inherent biocompatibility and bioactivity, making them ideal for promoting cellular responses. The use of synthetic scaffolds shows great promise in advancing regenerative medicine and improving patient outcomes. The transfer of new technologies and changes in society have accelerated the evolution of health monitoring into the era of personal health monitoring. Using emerging health data, cost-effective analytics, wireless sensor networks, mobile smartphones, and easy internet access, the combination of these technologies is expected to accelerate the transition to personal health monitoring outside of traditional healthcare settings. The main objective of this review article is to provide a comprehensive overview of the theranostic applications of scaffolds in current biomedical research, highlighting their dual role in therapy and diagnostics. The purpose of nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems or novel drug delivery systems is to improve the effectiveness of therapy, and their promising properties have led to their increasing significance in the management of cancer. The researchers have primarily focused on designing novel nanocarriers, like nanoparticles (NPs), that can effectively deliver drugs to target cells and respond specifically to conditions particular to cancer. Whether passive or active targeting, these nanocarriers can deliver therapeutic cargoes to the tumor site to release the drug from the drug delivery systems. In recent years, the design of pharmaceutical cocrystals has garnered significant attention. The process of cocrystallization offers a remarkable opportunity to develop drug products with enhanced properties such as improved stability, solubility, hygroscopicity, dissolution rate, and bioavailability. This detailed review delves into this evolving area, thereby exploring its relevance in pharmaceutical formulation by defining cocrystals and their practical applications and also by discussing methods for their preparation as well as characterization. It also contrasts traditional and innovative techniques for cocrystal formation. Historically, cocrystals have been synthesized using methods like solvent evaporation, grinding, and slurry techniques; however, each has its own set of limitations under specific conditions. The latest trends in cocrystal formation lean toward more advanced approaches such as spray-drying, hot melt extrusion, and supercritical fluid technology, as well as the cutting-edge technique of laser irradiation. The aim behind developing new methods is not just to address the limitations of traditional cocrystallization techniques but also to streamline the process by introducing simpler steps and enabling a continuous production workflow for cocrystal products. In general, this full-length review article offers a report on various techniques available for the creation of pharmaceutical cocrystals, along with the methods for their evaluation. The solar thermochemical CO 2 splitting (CDS) is scrutinized via a redox ZnO/Zn cycle. The second law efficiency analysis is carried out by acquiring the required thermodynamic data from HSC Chemistry software. The main focus of this study is to explore the influence of reduction temperature (T red ), molar flow rate of inert sweep gas (n˙ inert ), and energy required for the gas separation on the solar-to-fuel energy conversion efficiency (η solar-to-fuel ) of the ZnO/Zn cycle. All the calculations are conducted at a constant gas-to-gas heat recovery effectiveness (ε gg ) equal to 0.5. n˙ inert required is recorded to be too high (5050 mol/s) at T red equal to 1500 K and moderately low (15 mol/s) for T red equal to 2000 K. The amount of thermal energy required to heat the inert/O 2 gas mixture (from CDS temperature to separator-1 temperature) and inert sweep gas (from separator-1 temperature to reduction temperature) has a significant impact on the total thermal energy requirement of the cycle (Q˙ TC ). The rise in T red from 1500 K to 2000 K shows a considerable decline in Q˙ TC from 77417.5 kW to 1161.8 kW, respectively. Current discoveries as well as research findings on various types of carbon nanostructures have inspired research into their utilization in a number of fields. These carbon nanostructures offer uses in pharmacy, medicine and different therapies. One such unique carbon nanostructure includes carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which are one-dimensional allotropes of carbon nanostructure that can have a length-to-diameter ratio greater than 1,000,000. After their discovery, CNTs have drawn extensive research attention due to their excellent material properties. Their physical, chemical and electronic properties are excellent and their composites provide great possibilities for enormous nanometer applications. The current study provides a systematic review based on prior literature review and data gathered from various sources. The various research studies from many research labs and organizations were systematically retrieved, collected, compiled and written. The entire collection and compilation of this review concluded the use of CNT approaches and their efficacy and safety for the treatment of various diseases such as brain tumors or cancer via nanotechnology-based drug delivery, phototherapy, gene therapy, antiviral therapy, antifungal therapy, antibacterial therapy and other biomedical applications. The current review covers diverse applications of CNTs in designing a range of targeted drug delivery systems and application for various therapies. It concludes with a discussion on how CNTs based medicines can expand in the future.

In the present study, we aimed to develop a novel pH-sensitive polymeric delivery system (GG- g -PMMA) for antidiabetic therapy via grafting ghatti gum (GG) with methyl methacrylate (MMA) chains. The free radical polymerization technique was adopted to graft ghatti gum with methyl methacrylate, using ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as a redox initiator. The impact on grafting parameters such as grafting percentage ( G %) and grafting efficiency (GE), of monomer and initiator concentrations was evaluated. The batch with higher grafting efficiency and percentage grafting was selected and characterized by elemental analysis (C, H and N), DSC, FT-IR spectroscopy, XRD, 1 H-NMR and SEM morphology study. In addition, the efficacy of GG- g -PMMA-based pellets loaded with the hypoglycemic agent, metformin hydrochloride, to sustain drug release was investigated. In vitro release studies demonstrated a pH-dependent sustained release of the drug from GG- g -PMMA pellets. In addition, acute oral toxicity studies and histopathological analysis suggested the safety and biocompatibility of the grafted gum. Most importantly, in vivo efficacy studies underscored the efficient hypoglycemic potential of the prepared formulation, which was comparable to that of a sustained release marketed formulation. Large amounts of agricultural solid wastes (ASWs) and animal dung are produced annually causing serious environmental problem that requires proper treatment. The present study proposes a strategy for optimizing the anaerobic co-digestion of ASWs and cow dung (CD), identifies the key factors governing the co-digestion performance and evaluates the effect of NaHCO 3 alkalinity treatment on improving the economy and performance of anaerobic digestion (AD). The results revealed that the highest cumulative methane production (CMP) of 297.99 NL/kgVS can be generated by co-digestion of ASWs and CD at a ratio of 60:40. Further improvement was achieved via alkalinity treatment with 1.0 g of NaHCO 3 /gVS leading to decrease in lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose contents of feedstock by 3.5%, 10.5% and 15.9%, respectively, converting them to soluble fractions and improving the CMP by 11.2-29.7% based on substrate quality. The improved CMP in the chemically treated substrates reflects a 19% increase in the generated revenue. The kinetics of the AD process was successfully fitted to modified Gompertz model with very low standard deviation residuals (SDR) ≤ 5.21 and R 2  ≥ 0.979. Objective: The rationale behind present research vocation was to develop and investigate a novel microsponge based gel as a topical carrier for the prolonged release and cutaneous drug deposition of fluconazole (FLZ); destined for facilitated fungal therapy., Materials and Methods: Microsponges were prepared using quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion method using Eudragit S-100. In the direction of optimization, the effect of formulation variables (drug-polymer ratio and amount of emulsifier) and diverse factors affecting physical characteristics of microsponge were investigated as well. Fabricated microsponges were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, Fourier transform-infrared, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), particle size analysis, and also evaluated for drug content, encapsulation efficiency, in vitro drug release and in vitro antifungal activity., Results: Compatibility studies results reflected no sign of any chemical interaction between the drug and polymers used. Whereas, varied drug-polymer ratios and emulsifier concentration indicated significant effect on production yield, drug content, encapsulation efficiency, particle size and drug release. Spherical microsponges with a porous surface and 29.327 ± 0.31 μm mean particle size were evident from SEM micrographs. In vitro release outcomes, from microsponge loaded gels depicted that F1 formulation was more efficient to give extended drug release of 85.38% at the end of 8 h, while conventional formulation by releasing 83.17% of drug got exhausted incredibly earlier at the end of 4 h merely. Moreover, microsponge gels demonstrated substantial spreadability and extrudability along with promising antifungal activity., Conclusions: Fabricated microsponges would be impending pharmaceutical topical carriers of FLZ and a leading alternative to conventional therapy for efficient, safe and facilitated eradication of fungal infections.

The motive behind present work was to formulate and evaluate gel containing microsponges of diclofenac diethylamine to provide prolonged release for proficient arthritis therapy. Quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion method was implied using Eudragit RS-100 and microsponges with varied drug-polymer ratios were prepared. For the sake of optimization, diverse factors affecting microparticles physical properties were too investigated. Microsponges were characterized by SEM, DSC, FT-IR, XRPD and particle size analysis, and evaluated for morphology, drug loading, in vitro drug release and ex vivo diffusion as well. There were no chemical interactions between drug and polymers used as revealed by compatibility studies outcomes. The drug polymer ratio reflected notable effect on drug content, encapsulation efficiency and particle size. SEM results revealed spherical microsponges with porous surface, and had 7.21 μm mean particle size. The microsponges were then incorporated in gel; which exhibited viscous modulus along with pseudoplastic behavior. In vitro drug release results depicted that microsponges with 1:2 drug-polymer ratio were more efficient to give extended drug release of 75.88% at the end of 8 h; while conventional formulation get exhausted incredibly earlier by releasing 81.11% drug at the end of 4 h only. Thus the formulated microsponge-based gel of diclofenac diethylamine would be a promising alternative to conventional therapy for safer and efficient treatment of arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders.
