Epitaxial La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 thin films with different crystallographic orientations were fabricated on (001)-, (110)-, and (111)-oriented SrTiO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition. Out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy was studied with the field angle fixed at 0°, 30°, 60°, and 90° relative to the film surface. The results show that there is a remarkable dependence of the magnetization on the magnetic field direction and crystallographic orientation. Furthermore, the (110)- and (111)-oriented thin films show stronger angular-dependent magnetic anisotropy than the (001) film, and the (110)-oriented one can reach the saturated magnetization more easily than the other two films. Such findings are correlated with the strain imposed on the films via substrates with different orientations. Our results have implications for the better understanding of magnetic anisotropy and the tunability of the magnetoelectric coupling coefficient involving multiferroic composite thin films.

Purpose: This systematic review is aimed to evaluate in fixed prosthodontics treated teeth, the effect of the BOPT on periodontal health compared to the horizontal preparation technique using a chamfer finishing line or to the baseline. Methods: The electronic databases Cochrane Central Library, PubMed, Scopus, and ScienceDirect were searched based on specific MeSH keywords. The Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) and prospective clinical trials on BOPT printed in English up to July 2022 were selected. Screening, selection, and data extraction were done. The studies were assessed for risk of bias, and descriptive and meta-analyses were performed. Results: Eight studies were included in the systematic review and only three RCTs were involved in the meta-analysis. Two RCTs were assessed as low risk while one has some concerns. were grouped as good, fair, and poor based on NOS. Three of the prospective studies were considered to be of good quality and one study was fair. The meta-analysis revealed no statistically significant difference in the effect of BOPT and chamfer preparation on periodontal health status and success rate (P > 0.05). Conclusions: Considering the limitation of this review, the BOPT is comparable to chamfer preparation and it resulted in an acceptable effect to maintain periodontal health with a high success rate. However, more evidence is required to support these findings.

Nature and health researchers have often suggested that nature induces better psychological and physical health responses than urban environments, especially with healthy ecosystems in nature. However, research that has empirically documented the daily benefits of physical and psychological health in rural landscapes is scarce. This study explores how rural landscapes could provide better health benefits than the built environment in daily life. The research involved on-site data collection with a set of psychological indicators (e.g., restorativeness, preference, emotion) and physical indicators (e.g., brain waves, heart rate) to compare the rural and the built environments. A total of 169 subjects took part in the study. We analyzed health indicators through analysis of variance to show the difference in water landscapes in rural areas relative to the built environment after the participants experienced the environments. The results showed that subjects could release stress and felt a greater sense of restorativeness, pleasure, and arousal in rural areas than in the built environment. Subjects preferred the rural landscape more than the built environment. To conclude, this study explains the rural landscape and its health-related benefits in Taiwan.

Introduction: Aberrant root canal morphology of mandibular premolars has always been associated with high endodontic treatment failures. This study was conducted to assess the canal morphology of the mandibular premolars in the Malaysian population using periapical radiographs and cross-sections of the premolar teeth. Materials and Methods: One hundred extracted permanent mandibular premolars with intact apex were randomly collected from various clinics across Malaysia. Radiographs were taken both in mesiodistal (MD) and buccolingual (BL) views to examine the presence of a second canal and to evaluate the type of canal configuration. The roots were then stained and perpendicularly resected to the long axis at three levels (cervical, middle, and apical one third). Digital photographs were taken for each of the cross-section sample and analyzed according to the number and shape of canals. Results: It was found that 78% of the mandibular premolars had single canal in BL radiographic view and 65% in MD view. Seventy-one percent of the single-canal premolars were observed in all three cross-sectional views (1-1-1 configuration). Furthermore, 37% showed oval-shaped canals and 34% showed irregular-shaped canals mainly found at cervical one third; 20% of the teeth showed the canals to be rounded in shape, most prevalent at the apical one third. Two canals with isthmus were observed in 5% of the all cross-sectional views. Conclusion: The majority of mandibular premolars in Malaysian population have a single canal, and there are a few possibilities of two or more canals in these teeth.

Abstract Background Many members of the ETS-domain transcription factor family are important drivers of tumourigenesis. In this context, their activation by Ras-ERK pathway signaling is particularly relevant to the tumourigenic properties of many ETS-domain transcription factors. The PEA3 subfamily of ETS-domain transcription factors have been implicated in tumour metastasis in several different cancers. Results Here, we have studied the expression of the PEA3 subfamily members PEA3/ETV4 and ER81/ETV1 in oesophageal adenocarcinomas and determined their role in oesophageal adenocarcinoma cell function. PEA3 plays an important role in controlling both the proliferation and invasive properties of OE33 oesophageal adenocarcinoma cells. A key target gene is MMP-1. The ERK MAP kinase pathway activates PEA3 subfamily members and also plays a role in these PEA3 controlled events, establishing the ERK-PEA3-MMP-1 axis as important in OE33 cells. PEA3 subfamily members are upregulated in human adenocarcinomas and expression correlates with MMP-1 expression and late stage metastatic disease. Enhanced ERK signaling is also more prevalent in late stage oesophageal adenocarcinomas. Conclusions This study shows that the ERK-PEA3-MMP-1 axis is upregulated in oesophageal adenocarcinoma cells and is a potentially important driver of the metastatic progression of oesophageal adenocarcinomas.
