Reducing NOx emission in the exhaust gas under the extremely low temperature of engine cold start was important for the ecological environment and human health.MnO2 has high catalytic activity for NOx in the low temperature range, which is a promising nanocatalyst.The intrinsic relationship between the surface structural characteristics and denitrification activity of MnO2-Fe2O3-CeO2/Al2O3 nanocatalysts produced by ultrasonic assisted coprecipitation method with different manganese contents was discussed. The results show that when the manganese content is 15%(mass fraction), the nanocatalyst has the largest specific surface area and the smallest grain size. At the same time, the distribution of active substances is the most uniform. Meanwhile, the crystallinity of metal oxides is suppressed, and Mn, Fe and Ce are in the best coexistence state, which can promote the enrichment of chemisorption oxygen. The catalytic oxidation of NO to NO2 improves the reaction rate of fast SCR, and the NO2 conversion reaches 88.5% at 50 ℃. Optimizing manganese content is an extremely effective method to improve the structure-activity relationship of catalytic materials and promote the performance of NO preoxidation and fast SCR reaction.

Soybean plants are highly susceptible to Fusarium species, which significantly reduce soybean production and quality. Several Fusarium species have been reported to synthesize mycotoxins, such as trichothecene, which have been related to major human diseases. In November 2021, soybean pods in Nantong municipality, China, showed black necrotic lesions during the harvest stage. The disease incidence reached 69%. The pathogen was identified as Fusarium sulawense via morphological analysis and sequencing of ITS, EF1-α and RPB2 genes. A PCR assay with primers targeting the trichothecene biosynthesis genes suggested that the three isolates could synthesize trichothecenes. The effectiveness of fungicide carbendazim and natural metabolites dipicolinic acid and kojic acid was screened for the management of F. sulawense on postharvest soybean pods. The highest efficacy was obtained when combining 3.8 mg/mL carbendazim and 0.84 mg/mL dipicolinic acid (curative efficacy: 49.1% lesion length inhibition; preventive efficacy: 82.7% lesion length inhibition), or 1.9 mg/mL carbendazim and 0.71 mg/mL kojic acid (preventive efficacy: 84.9% lesion length inhibition). Collectively, this report will lead to a better understanding of the safety hazards found in soybean products in China and reveals the application of dipicolinic and kojic acids to reduce the use of carbendazim.

In the process of underground cavern excavation, the existence of the interlayer shear zones or large faults often makes the surrounding rock tend to be unstable or even deformed. Under the influence of interlayer shear zone C2, different degrees of deformation and failure occurred in many parts during the excavation of the Baihetan left bank underground powerhouse. Based on field monitoring and numerical calculation, this paper studies the deformation and failure characteristics of the rock mass with C2 in the whole excavation process and the failure mechanisms are analyzed. The results show that C2 has poor mechanical properties. In the process of excavation, it mainly induces two failure modes: rock collapse and shear deformation, which specifically leads to rock collapses, large deformation and shotcrete cracking in the main powerhouse, and shear deformation in the omnibus bar caves. In addition, the similarities and differences between this study and other studies on the deformation and failure of surrounding rock of underground powerhouse in recent years are discussed, and the relevant treatment measures for C2 are given. The above research results can be a reference for other related studies.

The signaling pathways induced by Pseudomonas putida in rice plants at the early plant&ndash, rhizobacteria interaction stages, with and without inoculation of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, were studied. In the absence of pathogen, P. putida reduced ethylene (ET) production, and promoted root and stem elongation. Interestingly, gene OsHDA702, which plays an important role in root formation, was found significantly up-regulated in the presence of the rhizobacterium. Although X. oryzae pv. oryzae inoculation enhanced ET production in rice plants, P. putida treatment repressed ET-, jasmonic acid (JA)- and salicylic acid (SA)-mediated defense pathways, and induced the biosynthesis of abscisic acid (ABA), and the overexpression of OsHDA705 and some pathogenesis-related proteins (PRs), which in turn increased the susceptibility of the rice plants against the pathogen. Collectively, this is the first work on the defense signaling induced by plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria in plants at the early interaction stages, and suggests that rhizobacteria stimulate an alternative defense mechanism in plants based on ABA accumulation and OsHDA705 signaling.

Valsa pyri is a fatal canker pathogen that causes significant reduction of crop yield in pear orchards. V. pyri invades the trunk phloem, and is difficult to control by chemical treatment. In this work, it was found for the first time that Bacillus subtilis-produced dipicolinic acid (DPA) exhibits antifungal activity against different canker pathogens, including Alteraria alternata, Botryosphaeria dothidea, Rhizoctonia solani, and V. pyri. Growth inhibition of V. pyri was observed at less than 5 mM concentration (pH = 5.6). DPA showed the highest antifungal activity at acidic pH values and in the presence of bivalent metals, such as zinc(II), cobalt(II), and copper(II). Measurement of mRNA expression levels and scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations revealed that DPA causes V. pyri apoptosis via inhibition of chitin biosynthesis and subsequent cell lysis. Interestingly, DPA showed high stability in the pear bark and was able to cross the pear tree bark into the phloem, protecting the internal phases of the pear trunk. In preventive applications, DPA reduced the canker symptoms of V. pyri on Cuigan pear trees by 90%. Taken together, an efficient strategy for the management of V. pyri-caused canker disease was developed using a novel antifungal agent, DPA, with strong antifungal activity and particular diffusion properties.

Fungal pathogens can invade not only the fruit peel but also the outer part of the fruit mesocarp, limiting the efficacy of fungicides. In this study, the relationships between fungicide structure, diffusion capacity and in vivo efficacy were evaluated for the first time. The diffusion capacity from pear peel to mesocarp of 11 antifungal compounds, including p-aminobenzoic acid, carbendazim, difenoconazole, dipicolinic acid, flusilazole, gentamicin, kojic acid, prochloraz, quino-linic acid, thiophanate methyl and thiram was screened. The obtained results indicated that size and especially polarity were negatively correlated with the diffusion capacity. Although some antifungal compounds, such as prochloraz and carbendazim, were completely degraded after a few days in peel and mesocarp, other compounds, such as p-aminobenzoic acid and kojic acid, showed high stability. When applying the antifungal compounds at the EC50 concentrations, it was observed that the compounds with high diffusion capacity showed higher in vivo antifungal activity against Alternaria alternata than compounds with low diffusion capacity. In contrast, there was no relationship between stability and in vivo efficacy. Collectively, the obtained results indicated that the diffusion capacity plays an important role in the efficacy of fungicides for the control of pear fruit diseases. © 2022 by the authors. Crop co-planting is widely used in agriculture because it can increase total crop yields through increased resource use efficiency, and phytoremediation is based on the contaminant remediation system in plants. This study focused on the phytoextractive effects of co-planting Ricinus communis and/or legumes in Cd- and Zn-contaminated soil. A Cd- and Zn-contaminated factory relocation site in Shanghai was selected for the experiment, and according to the results of a potential ecological risk assessment of heavy metals, the study area was divided into 3 levels of pollution: slight, moderate, and high. The results showed that the presence of Medicago sativa can significantly increase the height and biomass of R. communis, and there was a greater impact on the chlorophyll content of R. communis at higher pollution levels. Differences in pollution levels could significantly change the oil content of R. communis plants, but M. sativa can alleviate the impact of heavy metals. The presence of M. sativa increased the cumulative amount of cadmium and zinc in R. communis by 1.14 and 2.19 times, respectively. In short, co-planting R. communis and legumes remediated contaminated soil and may be one practical phytoremediation pathway for heavy metal-contaminated soil in the future.

This article introduced the development and application of patient decision aid (PtDA) for cardiovascular disease. There are many risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and the mortality rate is high. Therefore, continuous management in symptoms, risk factors and lifestyle behaviors is needed for a good prognosis. PtDA can improve the patient's understanding of cardiovascular disease and the potential risk of perception of cardiovascular disease, as well as improve the communication between doctors and patients. The emergence of narrative evidence-based medicine provided a new opportunity for the further development of PtDA. At present, there were demands for domestic cardiovascular decision aids, but the researches were extremely limited.

In November 2020, leaf sheath on maize (Zea mays) was detected in southeastern Jiangsu (Nantong municipality; 120.54° E, 31.58° N) in China. Physiologically mature plants, 13 weeks of cultivation (at the harvest stage), exhibited red-brown lesions in stem and leaves, and dried-up stem (Figure 1). The symptoms were observed on approximately 95% of the maize plants in a 0.8 ha maize field surrounded by old sorghum fields and the crop yield was decreased by 70-85% with respect previous years, when no disease symptoms were detected. Small pieces, approximately 0.3 cm2 in size, of symptomatic tissue were surface sterilized in 1.5% NaOCl for 1 min, and washed twice with sterile ddH2O. The pathogen was isolated (one isolate was obtained) and cultured on PDA medium, containing chloramphenicol (50 µg/mL), under darkness at 26 oC for 3 days. Amplification of internal transcribed spacer (ITS), large subunit (LSU), actin (ACT) and β-tubulin (TUB2) genes was performed using ITS1/ITS4, LR0R/LR7, ACT512F/ACT783R and T1/Bt2b primers, respectively (Ma et al. 2021). Sequences were submitted to GenBank under accession numbers MW800180 (ITS), MW800361 (LSU), MW845677 (ACT) and MW892439 (TUB2). Blast search revealed that the ITS sequence had 100% (492/492 bp) homology with E. sorghinum LY-D-1-1, MT604999, LSU had 98% (1075/1091 bp) homology with E. sorghinum GZDS2018BXT010, MK516207, ACT had 96% (214/222 bp) homology with E. sorghinum M3, MK044832, and TUB2 had 99% (498/499 bp) homology with E. sorghinum BJ-F1, MF987525. Molecular phylogenetic tree was constructed using MEGA7 to confirm the identity of the pathogen. The evolutionary history was inferred by using the Maximum Likelihood method based on the Tamura 3-parameter model, and the tree with the highest likelihood (-1774.9882) is shown in Figure 2. Bipolaris, Curvularia and Fusarium spp. found causing leaf spot on maize were included in the phylogenetic tree (Liu et al. 2021; Reyes Gaige et al. 2020; Chang et al. 2016). To confirm pathogenicity, a sterilized spatula was used to make wounds (3 mm diameter, 1 mm depth) on the stem and leaves of 2-week old maize plants. A solution containing 1 × 108 spores/mL (20 µL) was injected in the wound, whereas sterilized ddH2O was used in the control experiment. Inoculated plants were maintained in a growth chamber at 28 °C and 60% relative humidity for 3 days, observing fast-growing necrotic lesions in both stem and leaves. The pathogen was recovered from the infected plants and its identity was confirmed by morphological and sequence analyses. Microscope observations indicated the presence of chlamydospores, oval conidia (3 × 5 µm) and round pycnidia (60-100 µm diameter), and agree with those previously reported for the morphology of E. sorghinum (Bao et al. 2019). During last 2 years, E. sorghinum was reported to cause leaf spot on a number of relevant agricultural crops in China, including taro, Brassica parachinensis, tea, rice and wheat (Du et al. 2020; Li et al. 2020; Liu et al. 2020a, 2020b), confirming the expansion and host promiscuity of this pathogen. The pathogen was also reported to cause leaf spot on maize in Brazil in 2004 (Do Amaral et al. 2004); however, this is the first report of E. sorghinum causing leaf sheath and leaf spot on maize in China. Maize an important agricultural crop in China with more than 168 million tons produced in 2019. The observed yield loss and disease incidence of the isolated strain suggest that E. sorghinum may be a threat to maize production in China.

Rock damage induced by underground excavation would cause irreversible degradation in the hydro-mechanical performance of the engineering rock mass depending on the excavation method , in-situ stress, and change of ambient conditions. As exploitation of resources continues being operated at hostile depths of the Earth's lithosphere, adaptive excavation design thus becomes imperative for ensuring sustainable mining development in the increasingly challenging environment. In this study, a new thermal-mechanical framework is developed to characterize the successive blast loading, transient unloading, and air-cooling sequence for dynamic excavation in prestressed geothermal deposits. To capture the complex rock behavior across vastly different timescales, a new diagnostic tool is proposed for identifying the exact source, nature, and range of excavation damage based on the stress projection technique. By scrutinizing the rock response throughout the excavation process via loading path evolution, novel insights are obtained in this study into the underlying mechanism and relative contribution of each sub-loading process in damage generation under different geopressure , geothermal, and excavation conditions. Our calculations demonstrate quantitatively that the release of in-situ stress and air-cooling of the working environment constitute the predominant causal mechanisms of rock damage for major deep excavation projects. Furthermore, our analysis has shown explicitly that the perturbation to the redistributed stress field by tunnel ventilation could stimulate rock creeping and thus give rise to stability concern for excavations buried in highly stressed deposits of intense geothermal anomalies . The findings of our study could refine the understanding of the complex excavation response and thus contribute to improved adaptive design for excavation work in hostile geological environments.

In September 2020, widespread stem canker on soybean (Glycine max) was detected in southeastern Jiangsu (Nantong municipality; 120.76° E, 32.23° N) in China. Mature plants, 14 weeks of cultivation, exhibited brown necrotic lesions and dried-up stem. The symptoms were observed in eleven soybean fields, 1.6 ha in total, and approximately 80% of the plants were symptomatic. The symptoms were consistent with those previously reported for stem canker on soybean caused by Diaporthe aspalathi, D. caulivora and D. sojae (Ghimire et al. 2019; Mena et al. 2020). Small pieces, approximately 0.4 cm2 in size, of symptomatic tissue were surface sterilized in 1.5% NaOCl for 1 min, and washed twice with sterile ddH2O. The pathogen was isolated and cultured on potato dextrose agar (PDA), containing chloramphenicol (50 µg/mL), under darkness at 28 oC for 7 days. Amplification of internal transcribed spacer (ITS), elongation factor 1-α (EF1-α) and β-tubulin (TUB2) genes was performed using ITS1/ITS4, EF1-728F/EF1-986R and Bt2a/Bt2b primers, respectively (Jia et al. 2019). Sequences were submitted to GenBank under accession numbers MW130133 (ITS), MW147481 (EF1-α) and MW147482 (TUB2). Blast search revealed that the amplified sequences had 99.65% (ITS; B. dothidea JZB310202, MN945381), 100% (EF1-α; B. dothidea ZB-77, MH726166) and 99.75% (TUB2; B. dothidea ZB-1, MN642587) matches to multiple B. dothidea strains, whereas all reported Diaporthe strains showed no nucleotide identity to the amplified sequences. Molecular phylogenetic tree was constructed using MEGA7 to confirm the identity of the pathogen. ITS, EF1-α and TUB2 sequences were blasted separately in Muscle (https://www.ebi.ac.uk/Tools/msa/muscle/) and then combined together to make the phylogenetic tree. The evolutionary history was inferred by using the Maximum Likelihood method based on the Tamura 3-parameter model, and the tree with the highest likelihood (-4291.3981) is shown in Figure 1. Diaporthe strains found causing stem canker on soybean, some Phytophthora sojae strains (which also cause dried-up stem on soybean) (Yang et al. 2019), and B. dothidea strains found in China in other hosts were included in the phylogenetic tree. To confirm pathogenicity, a sterilized spatula was used to make wounds (3 mm diameter, 1 mm depth) on the stem of 2-week old soybean plants. Mycelial plugs from a 7 day-old culture on PDA were placed on the wounds and covered with Parafilm. Sterilized PDA plugs were used as control. Inoculated plants were maintained in a growth chamber at 28 °C and 60% relative humidity. Typical stem canker symptoms were observed 5 days after inoculation (Figure 2). Microscope observations showed the presence of septate mycelium, fusiform conidia and round conidiomata, and agreed with those previously reported for the morphology of B. dothidea strains (Phillips et al. 2013). During recent months, B. dothidea was reported to cause stem canker and leave wilt on a number of plant species in China (Huang et al. 2020; Ju et al. 2020; Wang et al. 2020a, 2020b, 2020c), confirming the expansion and host promiscuity of this pathogen. Stem canker on soybean has been thoroughly associated to Diaporthe strains; however, this is the first report of B. dothidea causing this disease. We believe that our results will help to better understand the pathogens affecting soybean production in China.

In March 2020, widespread anthracnose was observed on soybean (Glycine max) in southeastern Jiangsu (Nantong municipality; 120.53° E, 31.58° N) in China. Plants exhibited irregular brown necrotic lesions in stem and leaves, and pronounced wilting. The symptoms were detected in one soybean field, 0.42 ha, surrounded by healthy wheat fields. Approximately 65% of the soybean plants showed the disease symptoms, and crop yield was reduced by 28-35% with respect the yield achieved in previous years, when no symptoms were observed. The symptoms were consistent with those previously reported for anthracnose on soybean caused by Colletotrichum chlorophyti, C. cliviae and C. gloeosporioides (Barbieri et al. 2017; Mahmodi et al. 2013; Yang et al. 2012). Diseased, 3-week old plants were collected. Small pieces, approximately 1 cm2 in size, of symptomatic tissue were surface sterilized in 1.5% NaOCl for 1 min, and washed twice with sterile ddH2O. The pathogen was isolated and cultured on potato dextrose agar (Song et al. 2020), containing chloramphenicol (50 µg/mL), under darkness at 28 °C for 3 days. Sequence of internal transcribed spacer (ITS), actin (ACT), β-tubulin (TUB2) and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAP/span>DH) genes was performed as reported by Yang et al. (2015). Sequences were submitted to GenBank under accession numbers MT361074 (ITS) and MT415548-MT415550 (ACT, TUB2 and GAPDH). Blast search revealed that the amplified sequences had 100% (ITS; C. brevisporum TCHD, MH883805), 97.66% (ACT; C. brevisporum S38, KY986905), 99.06% (TUB2; C. brevisporum PF-2, KY705061) and 100% (GAPDH; C. brevisporum LJTJ27, KP823797) matches to multiple C. brevisporum strains, whereas all reported C. chlorophyti, C. cliviae and C. gloeosporioides strains showed no similarity to at least 2 of the studied genes. Molecular phylogenetic tree constructed using MEGA7 confirmed the identity of the pathogen. ACT and ITS sequences were blasted separately in Muscle (https://www.ebi.ac.uk/Tools/msa/muscle/) and then combined together to make the phylogenetic tree. The evolutionary history was inferred by using the Maximum Likelihood method based on the Tamura 3-parameter model, and the tree with the highest log likelihood (-1749.2186) is shown in Figure 1. The Colletotrichum strains previously found causing anthracnoseon soybean, and other relevant strains used in taxonomic analyses were included in the phylogenetic tree. Microscope observations showed the presence of 15-µm-long cylindrical conidia and septate mycelium, and agree with those reported for the morphology of C. brevisporum by Damm et al. (2019). To confirm pathogenicity, the mycelia from a 2 day-old culture on PDA was collected and suspended in sterile ddH2O (≈ 106 cells/mL) to prepare the inoculum. The pathogen was sprayed-inoculated on stem and leaves of healthy soybean plants. In control plants, sterile ddH2O was used. Inoculated plants were maintained in growth chamber at 28 °C and 50% relative humidity. Typical anthracnose symptoms were obsered 20 days after inoculation (Figure 2). C. brevisporum was reported to produce anthracnose on pumpkin, papaya, mulberry, coffee, passion fruit and pepper in China (Liu et al. 2017; Liu et al. 2019; Xue et al. 2019). Here, we report for the first time C. brevisporum causing anthracnose on soybean, an economically-relevant crop in China.

A novel 3-D chip-level heterogeneous integration scheme for low cost and rapid pilot demonstration is proposed in this paper. The conventional Bumping fabrication is done at wafer level. However, due to the high cost of whole wafer, opting for chips with advanced technology node is a better alternative. Therefore, with the difficulties of the bumping process at chip level, 3-D heterogeneous integration by chip stacking faces challenges. This paper presents a novel heterogeneous integration platform by using electroless plating on chips and pillar bump on wafers before stacking. This integration platform can be applied to chip-to-chip or chip-to-wafer scheme when chips are fabricated from costly advanced technology node.

This paper presents a programmable system-on-chip (SoC) design methodology which integrates multiple heterogeneous SoC design projects into a single chip such that the total silicon prototyping cost for these projects can be greatly reduced by sharing a common SoC platform. In this implementation, an integrated SoC platform is comprised of eight SoC projects. When these eight SoC projects are designed separately, the total area is approximately 143.03 mm2, while the area of the integrated platform is about 24.43 mm2. The area reduction is significant, so is the fabrication cost. Once the integrated platform chip is fabricated, three programming schemes are carried out to allow the integrated chip to act as the individual SoC design projects. A test chip is designed and implemented using the TSMC 0.13-μm CMOS generic logic process technology.

We have extended the micromechanics-based analytical (M-A) model to make it capable of simulating Nuozhadu rockfill material (NRFM) under different stress paths. Two types of drained triaxial tests on NRFM were conducted, namely, the stress paths of constant stress ratio (CSR) and the complex stress paths with transitional features. The model was improved by considering the interparticle parameter variation with the unloading-reloading cycles and the effect of the stress transition path. The evolution of local dilatancy at interparticle planes due to an externally applied load is also discussed. Compared with Duncan-Chang’s E-u and E-B models, the improved model could not only better describe the deformation properties of NRFM under the stress path loading, but also present the volumetric strain changing from dilatancy to contractancy with increasing transitional confining pressures. All simulations have demonstrated that the proposed M-A model is capable of modelling the mechanical behaviour of NRFM in the dam.

A design for a video service engine (VSE) with a small computer system interface (SCSI) is proposed. It is implemented to an ADSL-based near video on demand (NVOD) system as the video stream pump to provide interactive services. The description of the VSE follows the sequence of system overview, hardware architecture and operation flow control in order to give a comprehensive understanding of it. In addition, a video service trial which uses the VSE to pump 504 channels of program at the DS1 rate is also introduced. From the quality of service (QoS) test, the VSE successfully provides interactive service to the customer with a distance of 15000 feet from the central office. Hence, a reliable video delivery system with good quality is proved.

The use of discriminative training to construct hidden Markov models of speakers for verification and identification is studied. As opposed to conventional maximum likelihood training which estimates a speaker’s model based only on the training utterances from the same speaker, a discriminative training approach is used which takes into account the models of other competing speakers and formulates the optimization criterion such that speaker separation is enhanced and speaker recognition error rate on the training data is directly minimized. The optimization solution is obtained with a probabilistic descent algorithm. For all experiments an isolated digit database consisting of 100 speakers is used. For speaker identification, the resulting discriminative speaker models reduce the identification error rate by more than 25% over the results obtained with the conventional training algorithm. A new normalized score function is proposed which makes the verification formulation consistent with the minimum error training objective. When combining the proposed verification score function with discriminative training, an average equal error rate of 0.8% is achieved using only one‐digit test utterances. This represents an error rate reduction of over 80% from an average equal error rate of 6.1% when using the conventional algorithm for training and the unnormalized score function for testing.

In recent years, many telecommunication companies have regarded IP network as a new delivery platform for providing TV services because IP network is equipped with two-way and high-speed communication abilities which are appropriate to provide on-demand services and linear TV programs. However, in this IPTV system, the requests of VOD (video on demand) are usually aggregated in a short period intensively and user preferences are fluctuated dynamically. Moreover, the VOD content is updated frequently under the management of IPTV providers. Thus, an accurate popularity prediction method and an effective cache system are vital because they affect the IPTV performance directly. This paper proposed a new window-based popularity mechanism which automatically responds to the fluctuation of user interests and instantly adjusts the popularity of VOD. Further, we applied our method to a commercial IPTV system and the results illustrated that our mechanism indeed offers a significant improvement.

We propose a Bethe-Ansatz-type solution of the open spin-1/2 integrable XXZ quantum spin chain with general integrable boundary terms and bulk anisotropy values i \pi/(p+1), where p is a positive integer. All six boundary parameters are arbitrary, and need not satisfy any constraint. The solution is in terms of generalized T - Q equations, having more than one Q function. An H.264/AVC encoder is implemented on a 31.72mm/sup 2/ die with 0.18/spl mu/m CMOS technology. A four-stage macroblock pipelined architecture encodes 720p 30f/s HDTV videos in real time at 108MHz. Patients with epilepsy are at elevated risk for automobile crashes. Most collisions in drivers with epilepsy are not seizure-related, but may instead result from cognitive effects of epilepsy and antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) upon driving performance. The Useful Field of View (UFOV) score has demonstrated good sensitivity and specificity for predicting automobile crashes. The goal in this pilot study was to assess impairments in the UFOV in subjects with partial epilepsy. Participants included 20 subjects with partial epilepsy. Neurologically normal control subjects of comparable age also participated. UFOV was assessed in all participants using the Visual Attention Analyzer, Model 3000 (Visual Resources, Inc.).
