Taking advantage of two N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), novel silyliumylidene ions 1a and 1b are prepared by a facile one-pot reaction of the corresponding dichlorosilanes with three equivalents of NHCs. For the first time, a C–H insertion reaction of phenylacetylene by a novel silyliumylidene ion is reported. The treatment of m-terphenyl substituted silyliumylidene ion 1a with three equivalents of phenylacetylene results in the formation of m-terphenyl substituted 1-alkenyl-1,1-dialkynylsilane 2.

In the present work the chemistry of group 14 and 13 element oxide hydroxides has been extended to a new series of well-defined stannoxanes, indoxanes and thalloxanes that are kinetically stabilized by a bulky m-terphenyl substituent. The controlled base hydrolysis of appropriate m-terphenyltin trichloride (1) and m terphenylindium dichloride (10) produced along with intermediate products, the trinuclear organostannonic acid [2,6-Mes2C6H3SnO(OH)]3 (3) and the tetranuclear indium dihydroxide [2,6 Mes2C6H3In(OH)2]4 (14). Whereas the exposure to air of a mixture of m terphenyl thallium and lithium chloride resulted in (2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl)2(μ OH)2Cl2 (26), base hydrolysis of which proceeded with partial cleavage of the m-terphenyl substituent and yielded the thalloxane cluster (2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl)4Tl2(μ3 O)4(μ OH)6 (27). In moist C6D6, 3 reversibly react with water to give the monomeric organostannonic acid 2,6-Mes2C6H3Sn(OH)3 (3a). The reaction of (tBu2SnO)3 with 3 proceeded with the absorption of atmospheric CO2 and give rise to the multinuclear hypercoordinated organostannoxane carbonate [tBu2Sn(OH)OSnR(OH)2OC(OSntBu2OH)2(O)SnR(OH)(H2O)]2 (R = 2,6 Mes2C6H3) (5). Whereas the treatment of (2,6-Mes2C6H3In)2(μ-Cl)2Cl2 (10) and 14 with (tBu2SnO)3 resulted in the synthesis of stannaindoxane clusters (2,6-Mes2C6H3In)(tBu2Sn)2O(OH)2Cl2 (18) and (2,6 Mes2C6H3In)2(tBu2Sn)O(OH)2 (19). Bubbling CO2 through a solution of 3 did not have any reaction however 14 reacted with CO2 to produce a bicarbonate cluster (2,6 Mes2C6H3In)3(HCO3)2(OH)4 (20) in chloroform and a carbonate cluster (2,6 Mes2C6H3In)4(CO3)2(OH)4(H2O)2 (21) in THF. The treatment of diphenylphosphinic acid with 3 resulted in [2,6 Mes2C6H3Sn(OH)2 (O2PPh2)]2 (8) whereas 14 reacted with diphenylphosphinic acid to produce [(2,6 Mes2C6H3In)2(OH)(O2PPh2)3] (16). 14 also reacted with Me2P(O)OH and Me5C3HP(O)OH resulting in the formation of novel multinuclear organoindoxane phosphinate clusters (2,6 Mes2C6H3In)2(OH)2(O2PMe2)2 (15) and (2,6 Mes2C6H3In) (Me5C3HPO)2(H2O)2 (17). The versatile reactivity of 14 towards CO2 is further elaborated by its treatment with ethylene glycol and CO2. The treatment of 14 with ethylene glycol in the absence of CO2 produced the carbonate free cluster (2,6-Mes2C6H3In)4(OCH2CH2O)2(OH)4 (22) whereas the same in the presence of CO2 resulted in the carbonate cluster (2,6 Mes2C6H3In)4(CO3)2(OCH2CH2OH)2(OH)2 (23). The reaction of 3 with NaH afforded the novel tetranuclear sodium m terphenylstannoxylate cluster Na3(2,6-Mes2C6H3Sn)4O6(OH)3 (9). An attempt at preparing (2,6-Mes2C6H3Tl)2(μ-Cl)2Cl2 (24) by the chlorination of 2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl (prepared in situ from 2,6-Mes2C6H3Li and TlCl) using SO2Cl2 provided the isomeric diorganothallium cation containing compound [(2,6 Mes2C6H3)2Tl]TlCl4 (25). (2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl)2(μ OH)2Cl2 (26) reacted with hydrochloric acid to give (2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl)2(μ Cl)2Cl2 (24). Any attempts to obtain a halogen free thalloxane without the partial cleavage of Tl-C bond did not meet with success., Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurde eine Reihe von neuen wohl definierten Stannoxanen, Indoxanen und Thalloxanen dargestellt und vollständig charakterisiert. Diese luftstabilen Verbindungen werden durch sperrige m Terphenyl-substituenten kinetisch stabilisiert. Durch kontrollierte basische Hydrolyse des Monoorganozinntrichlorids 1 und des Monoorganoindiumdichlorids 10 werden zusammen mit Zwischenprodukten eine dreikernige Organostannonsäure [2,6 Mes2C6H3SnO(OH)]3 (3) bzw. ein aggregiertes Indiumdihydroxid [2,6 Mes2C6H3In(OH)2]4 (14) gebildet. Durch Reaktion eines Gemisches aus 2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl und LiCl mit Luftfeuchtigkeit entsteht (2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl)2(μ-OH)2Cl2 (26), welches unter teilweiser Abspaltung der m-Terphenyl-Substituenten den Thalloxancluster (2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl)4Tl2(μ3 O)4(μ OH)6 (27) liefert. In feuchtem deuteriertem Benzol reagiert die dreikernige Stannonsäure 3 reversibel mit Wasser zu der monomeren Organostannonsäure 2,6-Mes2C6H3Sn(OH)3 (3a). Die Reaktion von (tBu2SnO)3 mit 3 führt in Gegenwart von atmosphärischem CO2 zum multikern hyperkoordinierten Organostannoxancarbonat [tBu2Sn(OH)OSnR(OH)2 OC(OSntBu2OH)2(O)SnR(OH)(H2O)]2 (5), (R = 2,6 Mes2C6H3). Die Behandlung von (2,6-Mes2C6H3In)2(μ-Cl)2Cl2 (10) und 14 mit (tBu2SnO)3 ergibt die Stannaindoxan-Clusterstrukturen (2,6-Mes2C6H3In)(tBu2Sn)2O(OH)2Cl2 (18) und (2,6 Mes2C6H3In)2 (tBu2Sn)O(OH)2 (19). Die jeweilige Reaktion von Ph2PO2H mit 3 oder 14 liefert die multikern-hyperkoordinierten Phosphinate [Mes2C6H3Sn(OH)2(O2PPh2)]2 (8) bzw. [(2,6 Mes2C6H3In)2(OH)(O2PPh2)3] (16). 14 reagiert weiterhin mit Me2P(O)OH und Me5C3HP(O)OH und liefert die neuartigen Organoindophosphinate [(2,6 Mes2C6H3In)2(OH)2(O2PMe2)2] (15) und [(2,6-Mes2C6H3In)(Me5C3HPO)2(H2O)2] (17). Die vielseitige Reaktivität von 14 gegenüber CO2 wurde weiter durch die Behandlung mit Ethylenglykol und CO2 untersucht. Die Behandlung von 14 mit Ethylenglykol in Abwesenheit von CO2 produziert den Carbonat-freien Cluster (2,6 Mes2C6H3In)4(OCH2CH2O)2(OH)4 (22), während in Gegenwart von CO2 der Carbonat-haltige Cluster (2,6 Mes2C6H3In)4(CO3)2(OCH2CH2OH)2(OH)2 (23) erhalten wird. Die Behandlung von 3 mit NaH ergibt Na3(2,6 Mes2C6H3Sn)4O6(OH)3 (9). Beim Versuch (2,6-Mes2C6H3Tl)2(μ-Cl)2Cl2 (24) durch Chlorierung von 2,6 Mes2C6H3Tl (in situ aus 2,6-Mes2C6H3Li und TlCl hergestellt) mit SO2Cl2 zu erhalten, wird stattdessen das isomere Diorganothallium-Kation-haltige [(2,6-Mes2C6H3)2Tl]TlCl4 (25) gebildet. Alle Versuche ein halogenfreies Thalloxan ohne die partielle Spaltung der Tl-C-Bindung zu erhalten schlugen fehl.
