Abstract

Intrusive sensors are widely employed in numerous industrial applications to determine the phase fraction in gas-liquid two-phase flows. Such applications include those in the chemical, nuclear, and oil industries. This study aims to investigate the use of three distinct intrusive sensor topologies, specifically intended for underwater applications, wherein the detailed characterization of the disperse phase is the primary objective. Abstract

Diffused aeration is a sensitive process for wastewater treatment. Because of the nonlinearity and complexity of aerator dynamics due to microorganism metabolism and oxygen transfer, reliable mathematical models are needed to perform control-oriented tasks. To this end, in this study we develop a phenomenological based semi-physical model (PBSM) to predict and describe the dynamic behavior of the oxygen transfer in a diffused aeration process by means of a formal modeling methodology. This model will then be validated by using data from an aeration pilot plant. In this paper, we also show a lack of agreement in the literature in terms of the different available ways to represent the volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient k L a . Reasonable agreement between the developed model and plant data is found by considering a phenomenological approach of the k L a instead of considering many of the available empirical correlations in the literature. Cieľmi tejto bakalárskej práce je ponúknuť stručný návod na to, ako postupovať pri energetickom audite čistiarne odpadových vôd a ponúknuť energeticky efektívnejšie a úspornejšie alternatívy ku dnes používaným zariadeniam a technológiám používaných pri mechanických a biologických procesoch čistenia. Praktická čast sa následne zaoberá návrhom možných somenutých riešení ku zlepšeniu energetickej náročnosti prevádzky ČOV Mikulov., Objectives of this bachelor thesis are to offer a brief tutorial on how to proceed with the energy audit of the wasterwater treatment plant and offer energy-efficient and economical alternatives to the technologies and equipment currently used for mechanical and biological wastewater treatment processes. Chapter with practical part of the thesis deals with possible applications of retreived knowledge on to operations of WWTP Mikulov in order to optimize its energy efficiency.
