Background: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a pressing concern in pediatric public health, with its prevalence rising among children and teenagers. This study explored the relationship between group-based physical activity and the well-being, resilience, and distress levels of Israeli youth, with a specific focus on those with ADHD symptoms. Methods: This cross-sectional study surveyed 699 Israeli teenagers, assessing their participation in three types of physical activities: unorganized, structured, and the "Five Fingers" program. Data were collected through an online platform and analyzed using ANOVA, t-tests, and multivariable regression models to identify predictors of resilience. Results: Structured, group-based sport activities are associated with higher resilience (p < 0.01) and lower distress (p < 0.01) in adolescents. Adolescents with ADHD symptoms exhibited lower resilience (p < 0.001) and well-being (p < 0.001), and higher distress (p < 0.001). However, those with ADHD symptoms who participated in group-based activities fared better in terms of distress (p < 0.01) and well-being (p = 0.018) than those who did not. Participation in any sport activity, older age, male gender, and a higher socio-economic status predicted greater resilience in youth, generally. Conclusions: This study presents the potential of structured physical activities that involve psychosocial and group integration training to improve the mental health of adolescents, especially in the context of ADHD symptoms. Background: In the realm of trauma response preparation for prehospital teams, the combination of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) with manikin technologies is growing in importance for creating training scenarios that closely mirror potential real-life situations. The pilot study focused on training of airway management and intubation for trauma incidents, based on a Trauma AR-VR simulator involving reserve paramedics of the National EMS service (Magen David Adom) who had not practiced for up to six years, activated during the Israel-Gaza conflict (October 2023). The trauma simulator merges the physical and virtual realms by utilizing a real manikin and instruments outfitted with sensors. This integration enables a precise one-to-one correspondence between the physical and virtual environments. Considering the importance of enhancing the preparedness of the reserve paramedics to support the prehospital system in Israel, the study aims to ascertain the impact of AR-VR Trauma simulator training on the modification of key perceptual attitudes such as self-efficacy, resilience, knowledge, and competency among reserve paramedics in Israel. Methods: A quantitative questionnaire was utilized to gauge the influence of AR-VR training on specific psychological and skill-based metrics, including self-efficacy, resilience, medical knowledge, professional competency, confidence in performing intubations, and the perceived quality of the training experience in this pilot study. The methodology entailed administering a pre-training questionnaire, delivering a targeted 30-minute AR-VR training session on airway management techniques, and collecting post-training data through a parallel questionnaire to measure the training's impact. Fifteen reserve paramedics were trained, with a response rate of 80% (n = 12) in both measurements. Results: Post-training evaluations indicated a significant uptick in all measured areas, with resilience (3.717±0.611 to 4.008±0.665) and intubation confidence (3.541±0.891 to 3.833±0.608) showing particularly robust gains. The high rating (4.438±0.419 on a scale of 5) of the training quality suggests positive response to the AR-VR integration for the enhancement of medical training, Conclusions: The application of AR-VR in the training of reserve paramedics demonstrates potential as a key tool for their swift mobilization and efficiency in crisis response. The current study examines, longitudinally, (i.e., on the same sample), to what extent an acute political/social crisis in Israel affected the resilience, distress, and additional psychological indicators of the Jewish population, along with three repeated measurements: The first was conducted shortly before the last elections (in October 2022), the second in February 2023, about two and a half months after the elections, following the formation of a right-wing government, and the third measurement about nine months after the election (August 7–10, 2023). The main results indicated the following: (a) the mean societal resilience among coalition voters increased significantly throughout the three measurements, while it declined significantly among opposition voters. (b) significant differences were identified between coalition and opposition voters, mostly at T2 and T3: opposition supporters reported significantly lower levels of societal resilience and hope, and higher levels of distress symptoms and sense of danger, compared to those of coalition supporters. We concluded that the continued social/political conflict in Israel is multidimensional and impacts diverse areas such as values, perspectives, and supporting as well as suppressing coping indicators. The differences between the two voter groups may be primarily the result of political radicalization and polarization processes, that aim to widen gaps to achieve political power. As many countries are currently facing acute political crises and similar radicalization, similar studies should be conducted in varied societies to investigate the generalizability of the findings. Introduction: Risk perception illustrates the subjective evaluation of individuals concerning the characteristics, severity, and capacity to cope with potential hazards. Risk perception influences attitudes and actions individuals take to protect themselves from future threats. Risk perceptions might change among different stakeholder groups such as society and first responders. Identifying risk perceptions of stakeholders is essential to establish effective protective measures. Method: This study investigated the commonalities and diversities in risk perception among first responders and the public, within and between seven European and beyond countries. A self-administered questionnaire was used to gather data from both first responders and civilians. They were asked to assess their risk perception level for five categories of risks (Extreme weather-related events, nature-related events, social disruptions, critical services dependencies, and pandemics). Results: Using Univariate Analysis of Variance showed disparity concerning both the levels of risk perception between the public and first responders, as well as their relative ranking. For example, concerning extreme weather-related and naturerelated events, risk perception levels of the first responders is higher than that of the population in six out of the seven studied countries. In contrast, the population's risk perception is higher compared to the first responders in six out of the seven countries, concerning critical infrastructure dependencies and pandemics. Discussion: The relative gaps between the first responders versus the population, within each country, vary considerably. Norway for example presents significant differences between the two internal populations concerning all risks (except for extreme weather), while in Sweden, no significant gaps were identified, concerning all five risks.
