Abstract

Introduction. The article provides a general description of Anatoly Vasiliev’s theatrical method, discussing the essence of methodological and philosophical breakthroughs in the future of Russian and world theaters, and, in this context, the continuity of the main tenets of Stanislavsky’s system.Methodology and sources. The article compares two theatrical concepts, two methodological, philosophical, and historical approaches of Russian and World Theatres: Stanislavski’s system and Vasiliev’s method. It determines the semiology of continuity and features of a new approach to the development of dramatic art.Results and discussion. The article highlights the elements of the Stanislavsky system present in Anatoly Vasiliev’s method, aiming to derive an algorithm for utilizing new opportunities based on established systems and techniques for training modern actors. The article's conclusions are drawn from five years of experience (since 1988) with the Vasiliev method, gained through direct contact with the master while collaborating on texts by Plato, Oscar Wilde, Fyodor Dostoevsky, William Faulkner, Thomas Mann, Erasmus of Rotterdam, and Alexander Pushkin. As the article relies on introspective research followed by epistemological analysis, it maintains a subjective nature. It is the outcome of the author’s experience working within the Anatoly Vasiliev’ s School of Dramatic Art at the GITIS acting and directing course (1988–1993), and years of observation of the method’s evolution in working with Vasiliev's students, students of theater universities, and professional actors both in Russia and abroad.Conclusion. The article does not claim to precisely represent Vasiliev’s ideas and thoughts but rather reflects the author’s journey through the rehearsal process in Vasiliev’s theater, acknowledging the internal changes experienced by the author as an actor, director, and individual within the method. It abstains from making value judgments regarding the Stanislavsky system and Vasiliev’s method, instead highlighting the most distinctive features of the theatrical method, elucidating its philosophy, and emphasizing the unity between the Stanislavsky and Vasiliev systems.

Abstract

Software with natural-language user interfaces has an ever-increasing importance. However, the quality of the included Question Answering (QA) functionality is still not sufficient regarding the number of questions that are answered correctly. In our work, we address the research problem of how the QA quality of a given system can be improved just by evaluating the natural-language input (i.e., the user's question) and output (i.e., the system's answer). Our main contribution is an approach capable of identifying wrong answers provided by a QA system. Hence, filtering incorrect answers from a list of answer candidates is leading to a highly improved QA quality. In particular, our approach has shown its potential while removing in many cases the majority of incorrect answers, which increases the QA quality significantly in comparison to the non-filtered output of a system.

Abstract

Organosilicate glass (OSG) films are a critical component in modern electronic devices, with their electrical properties playing a crucial role in device performance. This comprehensive review systematically examines the influence of chemical composition, vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) irradiation, and plasma treatment on the electrical properties of these films. Through an extensive survey of literature and experimental findings, we elucidate the intricate interplay between these factors and the resulting alterations in electrical conductivity, dielectric constant, and breakdown strength of OSG films. Key focus areas include the impact of diverse organic moieties incorporated into the silica matrix, the effects of VUV irradiation on film properties, and the modifications induced by various plasma treatment techniques. Furthermore, the underlying mechanisms governing these phenomena are discussed, shedding light on the complex molecular interactions and structural rearrangements occurring within OSG films under different environmental conditions. It is shown that phonon-assisted electron tunneling between adjacent neutral traps provides a more accurate description of charge transport in OSG low-k materials compared to the previously reported Fowler–Nordheim mechanism. Additionally, the quality of low-k materials significantly influences the behavior of leakage currents. Materials retaining residual porogens or adsorbed water on pore walls show electrical conductivity directly correlated with pore surface area and porosity. Conversely, porogen-free materials, developed by Urbanowicz, exhibit leakage currents that are independent of porosity. This underscores the critical importance of considering internal defects such as oxygen-deficient centers (ODC) or similar entities in understanding the electrical properties of these materials.

Abstract

This work describes the update of NO along with the incorporation of NO$_{2}$ and N$_{2}$O to the HITEMP database. Where appropriate, the HITRAN line lists for the same molecules have also been updated. This work brings the current number of molecules provided by HITEMP to seven. The initial line lists originating from \textit{ab initio} and semi-empirical methods for each molecule have been carefully validated against available observations and, where necessary, adjustments have been made to match observations. We anticipate this work will be applied to a variety of high-temperature environments including astronomical applications, combustion monitoring, and non-local thermodynamic equilibrium conditions.

Abstract

A search for sub-GeV dark matter produced from collisions of the Fermilab 8 GeV Booster protons with a steel beam dump was performed by the MiniBooNE-DM Collaboration using data from $1.86 \times 10^{20}$ protons on target in a dedicated run. The MiniBooNE detector, consisting of 818 tons of mineral oil and located 490 meters downstream of the beam dump, is sensitive to a variety of dark matter initiated scattering reactions. Three dark matter interactions are considered for this analysis: elastic scattering off nucleons, inelastic neutral pion production, and elastic scattering off electrons. Multiple data sets were used to constrain flux and systematic errors, and time-of-flight information was employed to increase sensitivity to higher dark matter masses. No excess from the background predictions was observed, and 90$\%$ confidence level limits were set on the vector portal and leptophobic dark matter models. New parameter space is excluded in the vector portal dark matter model with a dark matter mass between 5 and 50$\,\mathrm{MeV}\,c^{-2}$. The reduced neutrino flux allowed to test if the MiniBooNE neutrino excess scales with the production of neutrinos. Abstract

We report the first measurement of monoenergetic muon neutrino charged current interactions. MiniBooNE has isolated 236 MeV muon neutrino events originating from charged kaon decay at rest ($K^+ \rightarrow \mu^+ \nu_\mu$) at the NuMI beamline absorber. These signal $\nu_\mu$-carbon events are distinguished from primarily pion decay in flight $\nu_\mu$ and $\overline{\nu}_\mu$ backgrounds produced at the target station and decay pipe using their arrival time and reconstructed muon energy. The significance of the signal observation is at the 3.9$\sigma$ level. The muon kinetic energy, neutrino-nucleus energy transfer ($\omega=E_\nu-E_\mu$), and total cross section for these events is extracted. This result is the first known-energy, weak-interaction-only probe of the nucleus to yield a measurement of $\omega$ using neutrinos, a quantity thus far only accessible through electron scattering., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Abstract

A method for measuring the intensity of focused high-power laser pulses based on numerical simulation of high-harmonic generation in the laser peeler regime is proposed. The dependence of the efficiency of high-harmonic generation on the laser pulse intensity and the spatial parameters during interaction with solid targets is studied numerically. The simulation clearly shows that the amplitude of the generated harmonics depends on the laser pulse parameters. The proposed method is simpler than similar intensity measurement techniques and does not require complex preparation.

Abstract

This work describes the quantitative analysis of the linguistic difference in human-human and human-chatbot dialogues. The research is based on conducting a set of experiments where respondents communicate with a human or a chatbot in the domain of COVID-19 questions. In the case of the human-human dialogues, the approach of the inverted "Wizard of Oz" experimental setting is used. During the experiments, 35 humanhuman and 68 human-chatbot dialogues in Russian language were performed. The dialogues were collected.

Abstract

The MiniBooNE-DM collaboration searched for vector-boson mediated production of dark matter using the Fermilab 8 GeV Booster proton beam in a dedicated run with $1.86 \times 10^{20}$ protons delivered to a steel beam dump. The MiniBooNE detector, 490~m downstream, is sensitive to dark matter via elastic scattering with nucleons in the detector mineral oil. Analysis methods developed for previous MiniBooNE scattering results were employed, and several constraining data sets were simultaneously analyzed to minimize systematic errors from neutrino flux and interaction rates. No excess of events over background was observed, leading to a 90\% confidence limit on the dark-matter cross section parameter, $Y=\epsilon^2\alpha_D(m_\chi/m_V)^4 \lesssim10^{-8}$, for $\alpha_D=0.5$ and for dark-matter masses of $0.01

Abstract

Remote sensing experiments require high-accuracy, preferably sub-percent, line intensities and in response to this need we present computed room temperature line lists for six symmetric isotopologues of carbon dioxide: $^{13}$C$^{16}$O$_2$, $^{14}$C$^{16}$O$_2$, $^{12}$C$^{17}$O$_2$, $^{12}$C$^{18}$O$_2$, $^{13}$C$^{17}$O$_2$ and $^{13}$C$^{18}$O$_2$, covering the range 0-8000 \cm. Our calculation scheme is based on variational nuclear motion calculations and on a reliability analysis of the generated line intensities. Rotation-vibration wavefunctions and energy levels are computed using the DVR3D software suite and a high quality semi-empirical potential energy surface (PES), followed by computation of intensities using an \abinitio\ dipole moment surface (DMS). Four line lists are computed for each isotopologue to quantify sensitivity to minor distortions of the PES/DMS. Reliable lines are benchmarked against recent state-of-the-art measurements and against the HITRAN2012 database, supporting the claim that the majority of line intensities for strong bands are predicted with sub-percent accuracy. Accurate line positions are generated using an effective Hamiltonian. We recommend the use of these line lists for future remote sensing studies and their inclusion in databases.

Abstract

HfxZr1-xO2 and lanthanum-doped HfxZr1-xO2:La thin films are candidates for applications in ferroelectric random-access memory. Here, we explore the atomic and electronic structure of Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 and Hf0.5Zr0.5O2:La thin films grown by atomic layer deposition. Using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, it was found that the oxides under study have an almost identical electronic structure and a bandgap of about 5.4 eV. The Hf0.5Zr0.5O2:La film was shown to consist of the mixture of Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 and La2O3 phases. The bombardment with argon ions of the studied films leads to oxygen vacancy generation in the near-surface layer. The oxygen vacancy concentrations in the bombarded films were evaluated from the comparison of experimental valence band photoelectron spectra with the theoretical ones calculated using the density functional theory.

Abstract

The charge transport mechanism of electron via traps in amorphous SiO$_2$ has been studied. Electron transport is limited by phonon-assisted tunneling between traps. Thermal and optical trap energies $W_\mathrm{t}=1.6$ eV, $W_\mathrm{opt}=3.2$ eV, respectively, were determined. Charge flowing leads to oxygen vacancies generation, and the leakage current increases due to the increase of charge trap density. Long-time annealing at high temperatures decreased the leakage current to initial values due to oxygen vacancies recombination with interstitial oxygen. Abstract

Atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations are being closely monitored by remote sensing experiments which rely on knowing line intensities with an uncertainty of 0.5% or better. We report a theoretical study providing rotation-vibration line intensities substantially within the required accuracy based on the use of a highly accurate {\it ab initio} dipole moment surface (DMS). The theoretical model developed is used to compute CO$_2$ intensities with uncertainty estimates informed by cross comparing line lists calculated using pairs of potential energy surfaces (PES) and DMS's of similar high quality. This yields lines sensitivities which are utilized in reliability analysis of our results. The final outcome is compared to recent accurate measurements as well as the HITRAN2012 database. Transition frequencies are obtained from effective Hamiltonian calculations to produce a comprehensive line list covering all $^{12}$C$^{16}$O$_2$ transitions below 8000 cm$^{-1}$ and stronger than 10$^{-30}$ cm / molecule at $T=296$~K

Abstract

This paper reports the first measurement using the NOvA detectors of $\nu_\mu$ disappearance in a $\nu_\mu$ beam. The analysis uses a 14 kton-equivalent exposure of $2.74 \times 10^{20}$ protons-on-target from the Fermilab NuMI beam. Assuming the normal neutrino mass hierarchy, we measure $\Delta m^{2}_{32}=(2.52^{+0.20}_{-0.18})\times 10^{-3}$ eV$^{2}$ and $\sin^2\theta_{23}$ in the range 0.38-0.65, both at the 68% confidence level, with two statistically-degenerate best fit points at $\sin^2\theta_{23} = $ 0.43 and 0.60. Abstract

We report results from the first search for $\nu_\mu\to\nu_e$ transitions by the NOvA experiment. In an exposure equivalent to $2.74\times10^{20}$ protons-on-target in the upgraded NuMI beam at Fermilab, we observe 6 events in the Far Detector, compared to a background expectation of $0.99\pm0.11$ (syst.) events based on the Near Detector measurement. A secondary analysis observes 11 events with a background of $1.07\pm0.14$ (syst.). The $3.3\sigma$ excess of events observed in the primary analysis disfavors $0.1\pi < \delta_{CP} < 0.5\pi$ in the inverted mass hierarchy at the 90% C.L., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures. Abstract

In this study, we demonstrated experimentally and theoretically that the charge transport mechanism in amorphous Hf$_{0.5}$Zr$_{0.5}$O$_2$ is phonon-assisted tunneling between traps like in HfO$_2$ and ZrO$_2$. The thermal trap energy of 1.25 eV and optical trap energy of 2.5 eV in Hf$_{0.5}$Zr$_{0.5}$O$_2$ were determined based on comparison of experimental data on transport with different theories of charge transfer in dielectrics. Abstract

Organosilicate glass (OSG) films are a critical component in modern electronic devices, with their electrical properties playing a crucial role in device performance. This comprehensive review systematically examines the influence of chemical composition, vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) irradiation, and plasma treatment on the electrical properties of these films. Through an extensive survey of literature and experimental findings, we elucidate the intricate interplay between these factors and the resulting alterations in electrical conductivity, dielectric constant, and breakdown strength of OSG films. Key focus areas include the impact of diverse organic moieties incorporated into the silica matrix, the effects of VUV irradiation on film properties, and the modifications induced by various plasma treatment techniques. Furthermore, the underlying mechanisms governing these phenomena are discussed, shedding light on the complex molecular interactions and structural rearrangements occurring within OSG films under different environmental conditions. It is shown that phonon-assisted electron tunneling between adjacent neutral traps provides a more accurate description of charge transport in OSG low-k materials compared to the previously reported Fowler–Nordheim mechanism. Additionally, the quality of low-k materials significantly influences the behavior of leakage currents. Materials retaining residual porogens or adsorbed water on pore walls show electrical conductivity directly correlated with pore surface area and porosity. Conversely, porogen-free materials, developed by Urbanowicz, exhibit leakage currents that are independent of porosity. This underscores the critical importance of considering internal defects such as oxygen-deficient centers (ODC) or similar entities in understanding the electrical properties of these materials. Abstract

This paper explores the use of $L/E$ oscillation probability distributions to compare experimental measurements and to evaluate oscillation models. In this case, $L$ is the distance of neutrino travel and $E$ is a measure of the interacting neutrino's energy. While comparisons using allowed and excluded regions for oscillation model parameters are likely the only rigorous method for these comparisons, the $L/E$ distributions are shown to give qualitative information on the agreement of an experiment's data with a simple two-neutrino oscillation model. In more detail, this paper also outlines how the $L/E$ distributions can be best calculated and used for model comparisons. Specifically, the paper presents the $L/E$ data points for the final MiniBooNE data samples and, in the Appendix, explains and corrects the mistaken analysis published by the ICARUS collaboration.

Abstract

We have analyzed a data set taken over 2.76 years live time with the Baikal neutrino telescope NT200. The goal of the analysis is to search for neutrinos from dark matter annihilation in the center of the Sun. Apart from the conventional annihilation channels $b\bar{b}$, $W^+W^-$ and $\tau^+\tau^-$ we consider also the annihilation of dark matter particles into monochromatic neutrinos. From the absence of any excess of events from the direction of the Sun over the expected background, we derive 90% upper limits on the fluxes of muons and muon neutrinos from the Sun, as well as on the elastic cross sections of dark matter scattering on protons., Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures

Abstract

More than 19,700 transitions belonging to 11 isotopologues of carbon dioxide have been assigned in the room temperature absorption spectrum of highly 18O enriched carbon dioxide recorded by very high sensitivity CW-Cavity Ring Down spectroscopy between 5851 and 6990 cm-1 (1.71-1.43 \mum). This third and last report is devoted to the analysis of the bands of five 17O containing isotopologues present at very low concentration in the studied spectra: 16O12C17O, 17O12C18O, 16O13C17O, 17O13C18O and 12C17O2 (627, 728, 637, 738 and 727 in short hand notation). On the basis of the predictions of effective Hamiltonian models, a total of 1759, 1786, 335, 273 and 551 transitions belonging to 24, 24, 5, 4 and 7 bands were rovibrationally assigned for 627, 728, 637, 738 and 727, respectively. For comparison, only five bands were previously measured in the region for the 728 species. All the identified bands belong to the \deltaP=8 and 9 series of transitions, where P=2V1+V2+3V3 is the polyad number (Vi are vibrational quantum numbers). The band-by-band analysis has allowed deriving accurate spectroscopic parameters of 61 bands from a fit of the measured line positions. Two interpolyad resonance perturbations were identified.

27. Analyzing nutrition rations at pre-school children facilities in a large industrial city in Russia

Abstract

Our research goal was to assess nutrition rations (menus) offered to children at pre-school children facilities after they had raised the costs of their services. We performed hygienic assessment of cycle menus in order to establish whether they conformed to the existing standards; the assessment was performed in 28 pre-school children facilities in different districts of a large Russian city. All the calculations were made with our own software program called “Menu” that contained a database on a chemical structure of food products and product charts for dishes and culinary products. Model menus offered to children at pre-school children facilities were able to satisfy their needs in macro-nutrients (by 102–127 %), vitamins (by 102–176 %), and minerals (by 102–162%). However, vegetable fats were not provided in sufficient quantities (20 %). We revealed that there was a deficiency of certain products in a ration and it amounted to 10 % regarding vegetables and wheat flour; more than 20 %, potatoes; more than 30%, sour milk drinks and vegetable oil. We also revealed that there were discrepancies between a stated quantity of a product and its actual provision in a ration or dishes and culinary products were not provided in a quantity stated in an official menu; sometimes the same dishes were offered to children for two days. Greater payments made by parents to a pre-school facility for taking care of their children didn’t result in better nutrition provided by such facilities. Our research results revealed that any sanitary-epidemiologic surveillance aimed at preventing risks of alimentary de-pendent diseases should concentrate on eliminating deficiency of certain products (sources of essential nutrients such as animal proteins, vegetable fats, food fiber, and vitamins). Optimizing nutrition in pre-school facilities will require certain social and preventive activities.

Abstract

Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), the functional receptor of SARS-CoV-2, plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of COVID-19. ACE2 targeting holds the promise for preventing and inhibiting SARS-CoV-2 infection. In this work, we describe the development and use of a test system based on competitive ELISA for the primary screening of potential antiviral compounds. We studied the activity of the library of dyes of different groups. Several dyes (ortho-cresolphthalein, eosin (free acid), eosin (Na salt)) that inhibited the interaction of ACE2 with the spike proteins of SARS-CoV-2 have been identified among the candidates. A potential antiviral drug, methylene blue, did not show activity in our study. We believe that our results can help in the further search for inhibitors of interaction between the coronavirus spike protein and ACE2 receptor.

Abstract

Both neutrino and antineutrino charged-current quasi-elastic scattering on a carbon target are studied to investigate the nuclear effect on the determination of the axial form factor F_A(Q^2). A method for extraction of F_A(Q^2) from the flux-integrated $d\sigma/dQ^2$ cross section of (anti)neutrino scattering on nuclei is presented. Data from the MiniBooNE experiment are analyzed in the relativistic distorted-wave impulse approximation, Fermi gas model, and in the Fermi gas model with enhancements in the transverse cross section. We found that the values of the axial form factor, extracted in the impulse approximation and predicted by the dipole approximation with the axial mass M_A~1.37 GeV are in good agreement. We propose the addition of scintillator to the existing MiniBooNE detector to allow a test of the neutral-current/charged-current (NC/CC) nature of the MiniBooNE low-energy excess. Scintillator will enable the reconstruction of 2.2 MeV $\gamma$s from neutron-capture on protons following neutrino interactions. Low-energy CC interactions where the oscillation excess is observed should have associated neutrons with less than a 10% probability. This is in contrast to the NC backgrounds that should have associated neutrons in approximately 50% of events. We will measure these neutron fractions with $\nu_\mu$ CC and NC events to eliminate that systematic uncertainty. This neutron-fraction measurement requires $6.5\times10^{20}$ protons on target delivered to MiniBooNE with scintillator added in order to increase the significance of an oscillation excess to over $5\sigma$. This new phase of MiniBooNE will also enable additional important studies such as the spin structure of nucleon ($\Delta s$) via NC elastic scattering, a low-energy measurement of the neutrino flux via $\numu ^{12}C \rightarrow \mu^{-} ^{12}N_\textrm{g.s.}$ scattering, and a test of the quasielastic assumption in neutrino energy reconstruction. These topics will yield important, highly-cited results over the next 5 years for a modest cost, and will help to train Ph.D. students and postdocs. This enterprise offers complementary information to that from the upcoming liquid Argon based MicroBooNE experiment. Abstract

We report the measurement of the flux-averaged antineutrino neutral current elastic scattering cross section ($d\sigma_{\bar \nu N \rightarrow \bar \nu N}/dQ^{2}$) on CH$_{2}$ by the MiniBooNE experiment using the largest sample of antineutrino neutral current elastic candidate events ever collected. The ratio of the antineutrino to neutrino neutral current elastic scattering cross sections and a ratio of antineutrino neutral current elastic to antineutrino charged current quasi elastic cross section is also presented.

Abstract

A promising candidate for universal memory, which would involve combining the most favourable properties of both high-speed dynamic random access memory (DRAM) and non-volatile flash memory, is resistive random access memory (ReRAM). ReRAM is based on switching back and forth from a high-resistance state (HRS) to a low-resistance state (LRS). ReRAM cells are small, allowing for the creation of memory on the scale of terabits. One of the most promising materials for use as the active medium in resistive memory is hafnia (HfO$_2$). However, an unresolved physics is the nature of defects and traps that are responsible for the charge transport in HRS state of resistive memory. In this study, we demonstrated experimentally and theoretically that oxygen vacancies are responsible for the HRS charge transport in resistive memory elements based on HfO$_2$. We also demonstrated that LRS transport occurs through a mechanism described according to percolation theory. Based on the model of multiphonon tunneling between traps, and assuming that the electron traps are oxygen vacancies, good quantitative agreement between the experimental and theoretical data of current-voltage characteristics were achieved. The thermal excitation energy of the traps in hafnia was determined based on the excitation spectrum and luminescence of the oxygen vacancies. The findings of this study demonstrate that in resistive memory elements using hafnia, the oxygen vacancies in hafnia play a key role in creating defects in HRS charge transport., Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures. The Prototyping phase of the BAIKAL-GVD project has been started in April 2011 with the deployment of a three string engineering array which comprises all basic elements and systems of the Gigaton Volume Detector (GVD) in Lake Baikal. In April 2012 the version of engineering array which comprises the first full-scale string of the GVD demonstration cluster has been deployed and operated during 2012. Abstract

The largest sample ever recorded of $\numub$ charged-current quasi-elastic (CCQE, $\numub + p \to \mup + n$) candidate events is used to produce the minimally model-dependent, flux-integrated double-differential cross section $\frac{d^{2}\sigma}{dT_\mu d\uz}$ for $\numub$ incident on mineral oil. This measurement exploits the unprecedented statistics of the MiniBooNE anti-neutrino mode sample and provides the most complete information of this process to date. Also given to facilitate historical comparisons are the flux-unfolded total cross section $\sigma(E_\nu)$ and single-differential cross section $\frac{d\sigma}{d\qsq}$ on both mineral oil and on carbon by subtracting the $\numub$ CCQE events on hydrogen. The observed cross section is somewhat higher than the predicted cross section from a model assuming independently-acting nucleons in carbon with canonical form factor values. The shape of the data are also discrepant with this model. These results have implications for intra-nuclear processes and can help constrain signal and background processes for future neutrino oscillation measurements., Comment: 28 pages, 13 figures. Abstract

A proposal submitted to the FNAL PAC is described to search for light sub-GeV WIMP dark matter at MiniBooNE. The possibility to steer the beam past the target and into an absorber leads to a significant reduction in neutrino background, allowing for a sensitive search for elastic scattering of WIMPs off nucleons or electrons in the detector. Dark matter models involving a vector mediator can be probed in a parameter region consistent with the required thermal relic density, and which overlaps the region in which these models can resolve the muon g-2 discrepancy. Estimates of signal significance are presented for various operational modes and parameter points. The experimental approach outlined for applying MiniBooNE to a light WIMP search may also be applicable to other neutrino facilities., Comment: 27 pages, 18 figures. Abstract

We propose adding 300 mg/l PPO to the existing MiniBooNE detector mineral oil to increase the scintillation response. This will allow the detection of associated neutrons and increase sensitivity to final-state nucleons in neutrino interactions. Abstract

The MiniBooNE and SciBooNE collaborations report the results of a joint search for short baseline disappearance of \bar{{\nu}_{\mu}} at Fermilab's Booster Neutrino Beamline. The MiniBooNE Cherenkov detector and the SciBooNE tracking detector observe antineutrinos from the same beam, therefore the combined analysis of their datasets serves to partially constrain some of the flux and cross section uncertainties. Uncertainties in the {\nu}_{\mu} background were constrained by neutrino flux and cross section measurements performed in both detectors. A likelihood ratio method was used to set a 90% confidence level upper limit on \bar{{\nu}_{\mu}} disappearance that dramatically improves upon prior limits in the {\Delta}m^2=0.1-100 eV^2 region., Comment: 15 pages, 27 figures

Abstract

The sidereal time dependence of MiniBooNE electron neutrino and anti-electron neutrino appearance data are analyzed to search for evidence of Lorentz and CPT violation. An unbinned Kolmogorov-Smirnov test shows both the electron neutrino and anti-electron neutrino appearance data are compatible with the null sidereal variation hypothesis to more than 5%. Using an unbinned likelihood fit with a Lorentz-violating oscillation model derived from the Standard Model Extension (SME) to describe any excess events over background, we find that the electron neutrino appearance data prefer a sidereal time-independent solution, and the anti-electron neutrino appearance data slightly prefer a sidereal time-dependent solution. Limits of order 10E-20 GeV are placed on combinations of SME coefficients. These limits give the best limits on certain SME coefficients for muon neutrino to electron neutrino and anti-muon neutrino to anti-electron neutrino oscillations. Abstract

The SciBooNE and MiniBooNE collaborations report the results of a \nu_\mu disappearance search in the \Delta m^2 region of 0.5-40 eV^2. The neutrino rate as measured by the SciBooNE tracking detectors is used to constrain the rate at the MiniBooNE Cherenkov detector in the first joint analysis of data from both collaborations. Two separate analyses of the combined data samples set 90% confidence level (CL) limits on \nu_\mu disappearance in the 0.5-40 eV^2 \Delta m^2 region, with an improvement over previous experimental constraints between 10 and 30 eV^2., Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures. Abstract

The neutral current elastic scattering of neutrinos on Carbon and $CH_2$ targets is computed using the relativistic distorted-wave impulse approximation with relativistic optical potential. Results for exclusive and inclusive neutrino reactions on ${}^{12}$C target are presented. We show that the nuclear effects on the shape of four-momentum transferred squared distribution $d\sigma/dQ^2_{QE}$ in neutrino neutral-current and charged-current quasi-elastic scattering are similar. We also calculate flux-averaged neutral current elastic differential cross section $d\sigma/dQ^2_{QE}$ for neutrino scattering from $CH_2$, as well as, the neutral-current to charged-current cross section ratio as functions of $Q^2_{QE}$. The value of axial mass $M_A$ is extracted from a fit of $d\sigma/dQ^2_{QE}$ cross section measured in MiniBooNE experiment. The extracted value of $M_A=1.28\pm 0.05$ GeV is consistent within errors with the MiniBooNE result. Additionally, for proton kinetic energies above the Cherenkov threshold, the strange quark contribution to the neutral current axial vector form factor at $Q^2_{QE}=0$, $\Delta s$, was extracted from a fit of MiniBoone data for $\nu p \to \nu p$ to $\nu N \to \nu N$ cross section ratio. Abstract

Two independent methods are employed to measure the neutrino flux of the anti-neutrino-mode beam observed by the MiniBooNE detector. The first method compares data to simulated event rates in a high purity $\numu$ induced charged-current single $\pip$ (CC1$\pip$) sample while the second exploits the difference between the angular distributions of muons created in $\numu$ and $\numub$ charged-current quasi-elastic (CCQE) interactions. The results from both analyses indicate the prediction of the neutrino flux component of the pre-dominately anti-neutrino beam is over-estimated - the CC1$\pip$ analysis indicates the predicted $\numu$ flux should be scaled by $0.76 \pm 0.11$, while the CCQE angular fit yields $0.65 \pm 0.23$. The energy spectrum of the flux prediction is checked by repeating the analyses in bins of reconstructed neutrino energy, and the results show that the spectral shape is well modeled. Abstract

Using a high-statistics, high-purity sample of $\nu_\mu$-induced charged current, charged pion events in mineral oil (CH$_2$), MiniBooNE reports a collection of interaction cross sections for this process. This includes measurements of the CC$\pi^+$ cross section as a function of neutrino energy, as well as flux-averaged single- and double-differential cross sections of the energy and direction of both the final-state muon and pion. In addition, each of the single-differential cross sections are extracted as a function of neutrino energy to decouple the shape of the MiniBooNE energy spectrum from the results. In many cases, these cross sections are the first time such quantities have been measured on a nuclear target and in the 1 GeV energy range., Comment: 29 pages and 28 figures

Abstract

Using a custom 3 \v{C}erenkov-ring fitter, we report cross sections for $\nu_\mu$-induced charged-current single $\pi^0$ production on mineral oil (\chtwo) from a sample of 5810 candidate events with 57% signal purity over an energy range of $0.5-2.0$GeV. This includes measurements of the absolute total cross section as a function of neutrino energy, and flux-averaged differential cross sections measured in terms of $Q^2$, $\mu^-$ kinematics, and $\pi^0$ kinematics. The sample yields a flux-averaged total cross section of $(9.2\pm0.3_{stat.}\pm1.5_{syst.})\times10^{-39}$cm$^2$/CH$_2$ at mean neutrino energy of 0.965GeV., Comment: 21 pages, 14 figures, and 11 tables

Abstract

A high-statistics sample of charged-current muon neutrino scattering events collected with the MiniBooNE experiment is analyzed to extract the first measurement of the double differential cross section ($\frac{d^2\sigma}{dT_\mu d\cos\theta_\mu}$) for charged-current quasielastic (CCQE) scattering on carbon. This result features minimal model dependence and provides the most complete information on this process to date. With the assumption of CCQE scattering, the absolute cross section as a function of neutrino energy ($\sigma[E_\nu]$) and the single differential cross section ($\frac{d\sigma}{dQ^2}$) are extracted to facilitate comparison with previous measurements. These quantities may be used to characterize an effective axial-vector form factor of the nucleon and to improve the modeling of low-energy neutrino interactions on nuclear targets. Abstract

MiniBooNE reports the first absolute cross sections for neutral current single \pi^0 production on CH_2 induced by neutrino and antineutrino interactions measured from the largest sets of NC \pi^0 events collected to date. The principal result consists of differential cross sections measured as functions of \pi^0 momentum and \pi^0 angle averaged over the neutrino flux at MiniBooNE. We find total cross sections of (4.76+/-0.05_{stat}+/-0.76_{sys})*10^{-40} cm^2/nucleon at a mean energy of =808 MeV and (1.48+/-0.05_{stat}+/-0.23_{sys})*10^{-40} cm^2/nucleon at a mean energy of =664 MeV for \nu_\mu and \bar\nu_\mu induced production, respectively. In addition, we have included measurements of the neutrino and antineutrino total cross sections for incoherent exclusive NC 1\pi^0 production corrected for the effects of final state interactions to compare to prior results., Comment: 13 pages, 12 figures, 4 tables
