Online Arabic learning presents several challenges, one of which is the ineffective utilization of learning media. This study aims to describe the tendency of Arabic learners through the Dars Arabi YouTube channel video media and the relationship between the learner's propensity and the variables of gender, age, and educational background of Dars Arabi channel users. This study uses a descriptive statistical method. The sample selection was taken randomly from as many as 160 people from a population of around 17,800 YouTube channel subscribers. This study's findings indicate that the tendency of online Arabic learners is at a moderately average level. This study also shows no statistically significant difference between trends in YouTube channel users and the variables of gender, educational background, and users' age. This study's conclusion shows the importance of using YouTube media to learn Arabic with content that is fun and can be enjoyed by all groups of society in a relaxed manner.

Adaptive learning strategies applied to e-learning have become a relevant approach towards diversity and inclusion. They bring several benefits to learners in the role of digital platform users, related to the user experience, primarily in the learning process optimization. It aims to provide mediation, tailored content, and adequate channels for users' capabilities and learning styles. The OpenEdR4C is a digital open educational platform designed to expand complex reasoning skills in students and lifelong learners of higher education. The platform addresses five types of learning obstacles: sensory limitations, learning styles, sociodemographic and socioeconomic contexts, and certain kinds of neurodiversity. All these considerations require a dynamic and assertive user profiling strategy to provide compelling adaptive learning experiences. This paper presents a Systematic Literature Review of user profiling strategies published in the last five years in SCOPUS and Web of Science databases. The findings allowed us to identify successful and applicable strategies that the OpenEdR4C research and development teams might use to select and shape the suitable strategy for the platform in two levels: a) procedures that favor the user to self-declare their profile and preferences; and b) profiling based on the system's detection of patterns and behaviors shown by the users. The results and discussion presented are valuable insights for educators, developers in the context of open educational resources design, and decision-makers of HiEd institutions or training centers. There is a suitable strategy for every type of profiling necessity; here is a combination of many to be used and developed collectively.

The high level of inequality in South Africa has widened the gap between rural and urban schools, and the performance of rural schools has been continuously declining compared to urban schools. Poor performance in rural schools is perpetuated by parents being absent from their children's education because the socio-economic conditions and their educational background do not allow them to commit their time and energy towards education. Learners are left on their own to decide their future. The disparity between rural and urban schooling was further exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As schools were closed during lockdown, teaching and learning was suspended in rural schools, however, in urban schools teaching and learning continued through online platforms. The lockdowns gave parents an opportunity to teach, advocate, and create conducive spaces to help their children focus on learning. During lockdowns, parents were expected to act as teachers in their homes to educate their children, and therefore, school closure presented opportunities for parents to actively participate in their children's education. However, their socio-economic conditions and poor educational backgrounds continue to threaten effective parental engagement, posing a threat to the academic success of rural learners. Despite attempts by the government to introduce school governing bodies in schools as a structure to integrate schools and parents, the problem of little parental engagement remains unresolved. The purpose with this study was to empower parents in rural areas to effectively participate in their children's education.

This article discusses the different ways in which some groups of educators are marginalized within the Canadian education system. The author draws on existing literature to examine how intersectionality in complex identities causes severe marginalization for Internationally Educated Teachers (IETs), especially female IETs. The author found ten strategies from Ryan's (2006) theory of social justice leadership to help school leaders to address teacher marginalization.

We develop a novel application of machine learning and apply it to the interview transcripts from the American Voices Project (N = 1,396), using discourse atom topic modeling to explore social class variation in the centrality of family in adults' lives. We take a two-phase approach, first analyzing transcripts at the person level and then at the line level. Our findings suggest that family, as represented by talk, is more central in the lives of those without a college degree than among the college educated. However, the degree of institutional overlap between family and other key institutions -- health, work, religion, and criminal justice -- does not vary by education. We interpret these findings in the context of debates about the deinstitutionalization of family in the contemporary United States. This demonstrates the value of a new method for analyzing qualitative interview data at scale. We address ways to expand the use of this method to shed light on educational disparities.

As new technologies and learning practices emerge, the way instructional design and learning technology (IDLT) professionals conduct their work evolves. With this constant evolution comes a change in employer expectations of IDLT professionals. This convergent mixed methods study analyzed 130 IDLT-related position descriptions and interviewed 12 IDLT leaders from the K12, nonprofit, higher education, and corporate sectors to identify current expectations related to degree qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities expected from IDLT professionals. Results included a preference for a master's degree-level qualification, at times due to bureaucracy, and an interest in the combination of academic preparation with instructional design experience. Additionally, employers shared that they were interested in an advanced understanding and adaptable application of IDLT theories, models, and frameworks, as well as a need for nonspecific IDLT skills (e.g., communication and collaboration) and familiarity with IDLT-related technologies (e.g., learning management system and course authoring software). These results provide valuable insight for those looking to join IDLT field, current IDLT professionals interested in upskilling, and educational programs preparing future IDLT professionals for the workforce.

This study examines the realities and challenges of internationalizing administrative staff in Japanese universities empirically due to the increasing globalization of higher education. The functions and roles of the administrative staff from the policy perspective, with the implementation of mandatory staff development (SD) and reforms to the standards for establishing universities, have been considered. This study attempts to describe the following three aspects: the international nature, working and training overseas experience, and administrative staff's educational background. The open data were obtained from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science website. The results of revealed that acquired insights can also become useful inputs for developing university policies concerning recruitment guidelines, methods, staff training, and "human capital development" in Japanese universities. This finding contributes to the policy making and SD of the internationalizing administrative staff in various countries in terms of foreign nationality, oversea experience, and educational background.

The translation of Russian literature into Chinese requires careful consideration due to the linguistic nuances and cultural subtleties involved. The works of Chekhov present challenges for translators aiming to maintain the original narrative's richness and cultural resonance in the Chinese context. The main objective of this study is to analyse the translation strategies used to make Chekhov's literary masterpiece accessible to Chinese readers. This study examines translators' decisions regarding functional equivalence, cultural adaptation, and the treatment of special expressions. It provides valuable insights into the wider discussion on literary translation. This research aims to fill a gap in the existing literature by examining a specific work in the Russian literary canon. By doing so, it contributes to our understanding of cross-cultural literary transmission. This study utilises a close reading methodology and participant analysis with a sample of five translators to investigate the translation process by analysing key passages. The study employs a qualitative analysis approach to examine linguistic and cultural aspects, providing a comprehensive perspective on the translation challenges and opportunities when translating Chekhov's works into Chinese. The findings highlight the translators' ability to maintain fidelity to the source text while adapting to Chinese linguistic and cultural nuances. The study identifies strategies used to handle special expressions and emphasises the choices made in linguistic and cultural adaptation. This study provides new contributions to the field of translation studies by examining the translation dynamics of Chekhov's work in the context of Russian Chinese literary exchange. The study is significant as it can provide insights into translation practices and enhance our understanding of the interplay between cultural and linguistic elements in literary translation.

Context: For many businesses, one of the key indicators in their management is the adaptation of Information Technology in their operations. In Kenya, there has been a phenomenal growth in access to mobile phones, by June 2023, over 66 million mobile phones were connected to various telecommunication operators of which 58.3% were smart phones constituting 67.1% of internet connections. There are many digital technologies which can be adapted to facilitate the processing, dissemination, and access of information. The modern world has become competitive due to the uptake of Information Technology as one of the main business management skill, with the availability of smart phones and many applications that are easily available and easy to use. One of the main beneficiaries of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) is the Jua Kali artisans who are a key player in the Kenyan economy. Entrepreneurial competencies help the growth of businesses along the dimension of innovation. Kenya intends to entrench the use of Information Technology for public service delivery, business, skills, and innovation. The Jua Kali sector cannot be ignored, it contributes more than 80% of the total employment in Kenya. Approach: This research was carried out in the Eastlands of Nairobi, Kenya. Data were collected using a questionnaire, an interview and observation schedule. The study used an interview schedule to collect data from Jua Kali artisans carrying out their artisan businesses in the Eastlands of Nairobi and a questionnaire survey to collect data from a sample of identified Nairobi residents who had engaged an artisan to work for them six months prior to the research. Findings: The research established that most Jua Kali artisans acquired their skills in the Jua Kali sector by apprenticeship (86.3%) while a small percentage (12.7%) trained in Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions while a further one percent were trained by their former employers. Most of the artisans had attained the basic formal education qualifications i.e. primary education (27.9%) and secondary education (47.6%). The Chi-square (?²) test was used to test the relationship between use of the basic social media digital platforms in business management and the formal education attained by artisans owning artisan businesses. Conclusion: At 0.05 level of significance (a) the research established that there is a significant relationship between the adaptation of digital platforms in business management and the formal education attained by the artisans.

This study demonstrates that a library instruction observation instrument can effectively foster critical self-reflection among academic library faculty and staff on their teaching practices. The paper outlines the instrument's design, which gathers low inference observations on instructors' use of questioning as a pedagogical strategy based on recommendations from the LIS and education literature. To test and refine the instrument's design, the instructors' utilised the instrument to collect data from classes taught by five participating instructors, who, during post-observation interviews, engaged in thoughtful reflections on their class planning, student participation, and teaching philosophy. They also provided valuable critiques of the usefulness of the instrument. Through analysing the observee reflections and the data from the observation instrument, this study aims to provide academic libraries with a method to incorporate an observation instrument in a peer observation program.

A study on the digital wisdom of primary school teachers in Penang, Malaysia was conducted with 372 participants. A research questionnaire was used to collect data, and the findings suggest that most teachers moderately practice digital wisdom in their classrooms. The study also found that digital status has a significant but weak relationship with digital wisdom, while age has a significant and moderate relationship with it. However, there is no significant relationship between school location and gender with the practice of digital wisdom. Experience has a significant and moderate relationship with digital wisdom, while education level has no relationship. Overall, the results provide insights into teachers' digital wisdom levels and how they relate to demographic profiles.

Cybersecurity has traditionally been perceived as a highly technical field, centered around hacking, programming, and network defense. However, this article contends that the scope of cybersecurity must transcend its technical confines to embrace a more inclusive approach. By incorporating various concepts such as privacy, data sharing, and ethics, cybersecurity can foster diversity among audiences with varying educational backgrounds, thereby cultivating a richer and more resilient security landscape. A more diverse cybersecurity workforce can provide a broader range of perspectives, experiences, and skills to address the complex and ever-evolving threats of the digital age. The research focuses on enhancing cybersecurity education to attract a diverse audience through the development and testing of a virtual platform on Haaukins (a cybersecurity training platform) designed with features resembling social media for capture-the-flag exercises. The results show that the cyber training platform effectively engages a diverse group of learners, bridging the gap between traditional technical boundaries and the urgent demand for comprehensive cybersecurity competence.

Many research institutions and funders have recently stated their commitment to actively support and promote 'Equality, Diversity and Inclusion' (EDI) in various aspects of health research including Patient and Public Involvement (PPI). However, translating this commitment into specific research projects presents significant challenges that existing approaches, practical guidelines and initiatives have not adequately addressed. In this paper, we explore how the lack of clear justifications for the EDI commitment in existing guidelines inadvertently complicates the work of those involved with PPI and we stress the need for conceptual clarity for any EDI effort to yield meaningful results. Our focus centres on the first principle of the EDI discourse, 'equality', particularly in the form of 'equality of opportunity' as outlined in current guidance provided by the National Institute of Health Research in the United Kingdom. We examine challenges related to justifying and implementing a general, unspecified commitment to equality of opportunity and explain that this reflects a lack of consensus regarding the moral value of PPI in research -- a profound problem that remains unaddressed. We then discuss how the presence of several opposing moral perspectives on PPI, makes determining the most appropriate way of addressing barriers to involvement complex and controversial, raising ethical implications for the work of health researchers, PPI specialists and coordinators. Finally we make suggestions on how future research can enrich the concept of 'equality of opportunity' in PPI and improve practice. While our primary focus is on the NIHR, a strong advocate of PPI in research, this analysis will point to normative and ethical considerations that may be relevant to other research institutions and funding organisations aiming to promote equality of opportunity in their public and patient involvement strategies.

Children spend a large period of their lives close to their mothers gaining knowledge, learning many skills, and emulating them. Therefore, the objective of this research is to identify the relationship between mothers' educational levels and their children's academic performance. To achieve this objective, a quantitative research method (correlation design) was applied to explore the relationship and a SPSS program was used to analyze the data. The data was collected from 50 random mothers in the Kingdom of Bahrain that have at least one child in the primary stage of school. An electronic questionnaire was used to describe the studying atmosphere at home and to determine the nature of the relationship between the study variables. The relationship was analyzed using Spearman's rank correlation coefficient (Spearman's rho). The results revealed that there is no relationship between a mother's educational levels and their children's performance.

The present study compares the pronunciation practices of three English instructors (two teaching in Australia and one in Japan) with the perceptions of their learners (n = 49). A student questionnaire, semi-structured teacher interviews, and classroom observations were used to collect data. The findings show that the learners strongly desire to be taught and improve their pronunciation, and the teachers' provision of oral corrective feedback meets the students' preferences. However, the use of primarily controlled (teacher-centred) techniques and subsequent lack of opportunities for communicative pronunciation practice suggest some incongruity between teachers' practices and students' perceptions. Factors such as the curriculum, instructors' beliefs about second language learning, and their confidence play a role in this discrepancy.

This study examines the relationship between gifted students' perfectionism and life satisfaction. It also aims to understand how perfectionism and life satisfaction differ according to variables such as gender, parental education level, number of siblings, and grade level for gifted students. The relational survey method, one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The sample of the study consists of 395 gifted 5th-8th grade students. The Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale and the Life Satisfaction Scale were used to collect data within the scope of this research. Some findings show that life satisfaction and positive perfectionism were high and negative perfectionism low among gifted secondary school students. When their positive perfectionism increases, their life satisfaction increases, and when their positive perfectionism decreases, their life satisfaction decreases. The life satisfaction of gifted students does not differ according to their gender, and negative perfectionism was significantly higher in girls. The life satisfaction of the gifted student who was the only child in the family was higher than that of the gifted student who had two or more siblings. The life satisfaction of the gifted student whose mother had a master's degree or above was higher than that of others. As gifted students move from 5th to 8th grade, their life satisfaction decreases and their negative perfectionism increases.

The study's objective was to determine the relationships between the proposed variables that impact to the Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment and Burnout through the Psychological Empowerment mediator variable. The variables proposed as impact factors were Structural Empowerment and Remunerations for the case of teachers from public middle-higher education institutions in Mexico. The study had a non-experimental design, being a correlational and causal research. The measurement instrument was applied to a sample of 167 teachers, whose data were analyzed using the structural equations method. The findings show which of these direct and indirect effects are generating significant effects. Subsequently, the analysis of the contrast and impact differences between the segmentation groups was proposed: by gender, marital status, schooling and employment status. One limitation was to carry out the cross-sectional study, with the data collected in a single moment. One of the main contributions of the model was to determine the impact of the proposed variables on job satisfaction and commitment, seeking to analyze the behavior of teachers and its effects on the development of more satisfied, committed and healthy human capital, being a field, little Empirically studied in Mexico. In addition to this, look for factors and strategies that contribute to improving the behaviors that are related to Burnout, since it interferes with the worker's health and affects the teacher-student relationship. It is recommended to continue with the analysis of Burnout in other contexts and organizational areas.

The present quantitative study explored parents' engagement in children's online learning, considering parents' readiness to engage in their child's online learning and aligned those with a discussion of parents' education qualifications. The sample of the study was 374 primary school students' parents. The data was gathered through survey questionnaires which were checked for reliability before being administered. Descriptive analysis was employed to study parents' engagement and readiness levels in their child's online learning, and to study the difference in parents' engagement and readiness levels based on parents' education level. One-way ANOVA was employed. In addition, correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between parents' readiness level and their engagement in children's online learning. The findings from the study revealed that parents were engaged in their children's online learning and confirmed the high readiness level towards involvement in their child's online learning. However, parents' engagement and readiness level differed by parents' educational level so that there was a positive relationship noted between engagement in children's online learning and their readiness towards online learning. Therefore, the study suggests that parental education level and their readiness towards online learning needs to be considered when schools move teaching and learning online.

Studies on the role of digital technology in teaching and learning English tend to focus on secondary or higher education contexts and/or with literate or educated students. The recent global pandemic has highlighted the urgent need to advance digital equity and inclusion for adult learners with limited education and literacy. Despite their basic digital, language and literacy skills, classroom observations and studies have challenged stereotypes of this cohort of students' limited capacity for online learning (Pobega, 2020; Tour et al., 2021). This paper will discuss a digital literacy project which involved poetry writing using an online book creator app with adult learners with limited English print literacy skills. Moving beyond merely mastering the mechanics of digital technologies (Kern, 2015), this project was an exploration of how language classrooms can be set up as supportive spaces where adult English learners perform "social acts of meaning mediated by the creation of texts" (Bhatt, 2012). Drawing on their personal histories, the learners made connections with the people, events, and spaces, from their past and present, emphasising the need to focus on human connections in language learning and the development of digital literacy skills (Guillén et al., 2020). Through poetry as a familiar literary form, the project serves to expand and strengthen the epistemic contribution capability (Fricker, 2015) of English learners with limited education and print literacy skills.

This paper examines challenges faced by novice school principals in Somalia using quantitative research. The International Study of Principal Preparation (ISPP) survey was employed with a sample of 181 principals serving for a maximum of three years. Data were collected from primary and secondary schools in Mogadishu and the Puntland region. Statistical analyses, including frequency, t-test, ANOVA, and Kruskal Wallis, were performed using SPSS. Findings reveal no significant differences in problematic aspects based on gender, age, experience, or student enrollment. However, education background, school location, and school level showed significant differences in problematic aspects.

The study examined factors contributing to the academic success of second-language learners at an English-medium public university in the United Arab Emirates in their first- through fourth year of study. The research utilized a quantitative approach via correlational analysis. The Pearson r was employed to establish the level of correlation between and among the indicated factors and provide perspectives on the strength of the relationships. Findings suggest that relationships do exist between or among the identified variables and the cumulative grade point average. The analysis found that males tend to have lower CGPAs during all four academic years. For both genders the initial IELTS scores for correlated with academic performance in the first two years, that high school track did not correlate with academic success, and that secondary academic performance had a positive correlation with academic success at the university level.

Americans with more education vote at higher rates. Some studies have found evidence of a causal relationship, while others have not. The available data also tell us little about why and how education increases voting. The authors looked the educational trajectories and adult voting records of students who attend charter schools in Boston. The authors looked at the voting records of charter and non-charter students and find substantial differences. Specifically, 41 percent of all charter-school students vote in their first presidential election compared to 35 percent of students who did not attend a charter, an increase of 17 percent. When the authors looked more closely at the data, the charter effect is a female phenomenon. Female high-school students are 11 percentage points more likely to vote in adulthood if they attended a charter school, while the impact for males is nil. These findings are in line with widening gender gaps in educational attainment and political participation. The authors used state education and voting records to compare academic outcomes and election turnout for students who are and are not offered a charter seat and adjust our estimates based on who actually attends a charter school. The authors then investigated whether these educational gains extend beyond the classroom to civic participation. They found no impact on voter registration -- about 78 percent of students in both groups are registered to vote by age 21, with about 45 percent of students registered by their 19th birthday. However, the authors did find differences in voter turnout. Charter school students are more likely to vote than non-charter students, with the biggest difference in the first presidential election in which they are eligible to vote.

FinTech refers to a set of new technologies employed to improve and automate the delivery and use of financial services. This study aims to provide some insightful information to: (a) universities on how to offer their FinTech education, and (b) graduates so that they can make an informed decision on whether they should start their FinTech career journey. To achieve these aims, we explore the credentials of recent and long-time graduates who are working in the FinTech area by conducting a questionnaire survey involving 48 Australian FinTech companies and 83 FinTech practitioners working in various IT functions of these companies. Among the various findings reported in this paper, some of them are: (a) the most straightforward way to start the "technical-oriented" FinTech career is to earn an undergraduate IT degree, (b) possessing previous IT work experience is almost a norm for FinTech practitioners, and (c) for those FinTech practitioners with previous work experience in financial services, they may have a higher chance to be promoted to executives.

By telling autoethnographic stories, the author reflects upon her 16 years of EFL teaching and four years of MSc TESOL and PhD Education studies. Teacher intuition has played an important role in guiding her to make pedagogical decisions and judgments. Several teaching activities and designs are presented to demonstrate how the author followed her intuition and achieved 'successes' in her professional development. From unconsciously drawing on teacher intuition to consciously using the term to empower peer teachers; from making attempts to theorise her teaching practice to realising the superficiality of the complication, the author experienced transformative changes in her perceptions of teacher intuition. She came to realise that teacher intuition draws on theoretical knowledge but goes beyond it. Considering the potential value and unrecognised status of teacher intuition in language teacher education, it is advocated that teacher intuition be incorporated into teacher education as a contributing factor to teacher development.

Drawing on a sample of 124 cooperating teachers in four school districts, this study examined the Teacher Educator Technology Competencies (TETCs) of field-based teacher educators. While the study showed no significant differences in the TETCs possessed by participating cooperating teachers, it offers important considerations and implications for continuing research.

Osmosis and diffusion are fundamental topics in science education because many processes in nature largely depend on these phenomena. However, many students usually hold misconceptions and have a lack of knowledge about these topics. This study explores pre-service teachers' understanding of osmosis and diffusion in relation to their prior formal education. The main reason for the study was the need to support pre-service teachers so that they can effectively teach these topics. A total of 243 first-year students in bachelor's programs at the University of Ljubljana participated in the study. The results showed that students that graduated from vocational and technical secondary schools had a weaker understanding of these topics compared to students from general secondary schools. Furthermore, only students that had passed the leaving exam in biology showed a better understanding of osmosis and diffusion.

This research identifies the pedagogical transformations perceived by non-graduate professionals from developing pedagogy courses for the teaching practice. It corresponds to a quantitative study of the descriptive level framed in the empirical-analytical paradigm and the non-experimental transversal method of a deductive type. The study involved 152 non-graduate professionals who teach in the Faculty of Business Sciences in a higher education institution in Colombia and took no less than 120 hours in pedagogy, which corresponds to a legal requirement to be able to carry out teaching activities. An instrument composed of 33 Likert scale items was applied to the sample participants, which addressed sociodemographic characteristics, pedagogical knowledge, pedagogical practice and integral pedagogical subject. The data collected were processed through descriptive statistical techniques. The study's findings indicate that pedagogical training scenarios for non-graduate professionals, such as short courses of no less than 120 hours--as occurs in the Colombian context--positively impact professionals and their teaching qualifications. It is concluded that from the participants' perceptions, transformations are produced in pedagogical knowledge, practice and the configuration of the integral pedagogical subject.

In this study, we investigated Iranian high school students' preferences and beliefs about two types of form-focused instruction (FFI) for teaching and learning grammar, namely isolated FFI and integrated FFI. Using an adapted version of the questionnaire developed by Valeo and Spada (2016), we collected data from a large sample of senior high school students (n=1,058) in the Iranian public school system. The results of the analysis showed that most participants expressed preference toward having more integrated FFI grammar in their curricula. The analysis also indicated that learners' preferences for each of these types of grammar instructions vary depending on their high school major and length of exposure to English. The results are discussed with special attention to the context of the research and in light of the country's attempt to implement communicative language teaching at K-12 schools.

In an era where teachers are increasingly expected to perform at their level best, issues of self-efficacy and professional development continue to be an area of continuous debate. A random sample of primary and secondary school teachers in five cities in mainland China was selected to respond to the self-evaluation questionnaire, and 300 valid questionnaires were collected. The research was carried out to (1) investigate the levels of self-efficacy of music teachers in primary and secondary schools, (2) determine the factors that influenced music teachers' self-efficacy, and (3) explore the relationship between teachers' self-efficacy and professional development. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, T-test, analysis of variance, and regression. First, the results showed that the mean value of music teachers' self-efficacy was 7.16. Second, the middle school teachers reported lower self-efficacy compared to teachers in the primary schools. Third, although teachers aged between 20 to 50 years old reached their highest level of self-efficacy, it decreased to a lower value after an extended period. Additionally, the study also revealed a significant difference in self-efficacy among teachers with different teaching experiences. Although educational backgrounds, gender, and training hours did not influence self-efficacy, a positive correlation was reported between self-efficacy and professional development. Prospective research might better consider developing music teachers' self-efficacy and education across primary and secondary schools.

The teaching practices of mathematics are still little-known in Rwandan schools though the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) and many pedagogical documents recommend how to assess, what to assess, and when to assess the effective teaching of mathematics. This study aimed to assess Rwandan mathematics teachers' practices through pedagogical content knowledge (PCK). We sampled 14 mathematics teachers having similar educational backgrounds. Seven of them were sampled from Teacher Training Colleges (TTC), and the other seven were non-TTC teachers (selected from general secondary schools). We adopted a pedagogic approach to analyze the assessment practices and the tasks proposed by teachers to students. We also analyzed 35 items related to pedagogical content knowledge for teaching (PCK) among these two groups of teachers. Although the results about differences between two groups of seven teachers were not considered robust differences, it was still revealed that in all item categories related to PCK, TTC teachers have less performance than non-TTC teachers. The lack of mastery of content and specialized knowledge at the university level was found to cause this. We also found challenges related to teachers' assessment skills, especially mathematical complexity, as indicated by the interview results. We, therefore, recommend that all teachers, especially TTC teachers, be offered training in content knowledge so that they strengthen their teaching practices.

Challenges of English for specific purposes (ESP) course development and instruction have still been reported in a number of studies. They could affect ESP teachers' belief and confidence in their ability to do such tasks. This qualitative case study explores the development of self-efficacy, along with source information concerning challenges in course development and instruction. The study case took place in a Thai university's institution where eight ESP teachers participated in this exploration. Through multiple interview sessions, they revealed source information and different ways to develop self-efficacy. Findings included that cognitive and enactive mastery experience were the most influential sources derived from their educational background and success in implementing pedagogical elements in their actual practices. Vicarious experience and verbal persuasion appeared to be scant due to the underlying contextual factors related to the institutional policies explored in the case. Physiological and emotional states proved to be less influential and acted as supplementary sources of influence. The current study also highlights the influence of contextual factors' shaping sources of self-efficacy and the development. Indeed, the lack of collaborative practices diminished vicarious experience and verbal persuasion so that individual teachers relied on their knowledge and experience as mastery experience to be efficacious. Research implications focus on policies where collaborative culture development is included. A suggested plan is to employ professional learning communities (PLC) to develop internal collaboration (e.g., sharing knowledge and practices to improve self-efficacy sources and development).

The Speech therapy practice in Morocco faces many challenges related to the standardization of practice, quality training for the students, and accessibility for all citizens. This emerging profession has to deal with issues such as multilingualism (various Arabic dialects, Amazigh, French, English, and Spanish) and a lack of funds for research. However, some decisive changes are happening nowadays. The present study aims to provide an overview of the different characteristics of the profession of speech therapy in Morocco in the fields of training, teaching, sectors of practice, geographic distribution, languages, speech therapists' profiles, and practices. This report is based on two tools: a questionnaire that was distributed to 100 speech therapists and structured interviews with ten more speech therapists in Morocco. The results provide some preliminary description of speech therapy practice, the limitations it encounters, and directions for the future development of the profession.

In this study, we explore the perceived employability and ambition of student veterans, compare the perceived employability and ambition of student veterans and civilian students, and examine the impact of other variables (e.g., age, gender, GPA, etc.) on student veterans' perceived employability and ambition. An online survey was conducted among 85 students, including 37 veterans and 48 civilian students. The results show that most of the investigated student veterans were confident in their employability and future career success. In addition, student veterans had slightly lower perceived employability and ambition than either active military members or civilian students. The result of descriptive analysis showed clues that explained how other variables impacted the perceived employability and ambition of student veterans.

The purpose of this study is to explore a practical nursing bridging program's education environment and the role transition of internationally educated nurses (IENs) who were enrolled full-time at a community college in Toronto, Canada, during the winter semester of school year 2018-2019. A survey questionnaire consisting of three parts was used to gather data from 68 IEN students who volunteered to participate in this study. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze data. Participants' responses to the open-ended question "Could you please list any problems/issues you have encountered in the bridging program?" were thematically analyzed. Results indicate that all bridging program education environment components, as well as role transition subscales, were described as "agree." There is a significant relationship between the respondents' perception of learning within their bridging program's education environment and role transition. However, views on teachers and atmosphere, as well as academic and social self-perception, seemed insignificant predictors of role transition. Participants' responses to the open-ended question were analyzed and grouped into four themes: concern with teachers, program content issues, program pace, and financial issues.
