The East Kunlun Orogenic Belt (EKOB), northwestern China, recording long-term and multiple accretionary and collisional events of the Tethyan Ocean, belongs to a high-pressure to ultra-high-pressure (HP-UHP) metamorphic belt that underwent complex metamorphic overprinting in the early Paleozoic. In this contribution, we carry out an integrated study, including field investigations, petrographic observations, whole-rock analyses, zircon U-Pb dating, and P-T condition modeling using THERMOCALC in the NCKFMASHTO system for the eclogites, especially for the newly discovered UHP eclogite in the eastern part of EKOB. The eclogites exhibit geochemistry ranging from normal mid-ocean ridge basalt (N-MORB) to enriched mid-ocean ridge basalt (E-MORB). Zircons from the eclogites yield metamorphic ages of 416–413 Ma, indicating the eclogite facies metamorphism. Coesite inclusions in garnet and omphacite and quartz exsolution in omphacite and pseudosection calculation suggest that some eclogites experienced UHP eclogite facies metamorphism. The eclogites from the eastern part of EKOB record peak conditions of 29–33 kbar/705–760 °C, first retrograde conditions of 10 kbar at 9.5–12.5 kbar/610–680 °C, and second retrograde conditions at ~6 kbar/<600 °C. New evidence of the early Paleozoic UHP metamorphism in East Kunlun is identified in our study. Thus, we suggest that these eclogites were produced by the oceanic crust subducting to the depth of 100 km and exhumation. The presence of East Gouli and Gazhima eclogites in this study and other eclogites (430–414 Ma) in East Kunlun record the final closure of the local branch ocean of the Proto-Tethys and the evolution from subduction to collision. Studies on post-collisional magmatic rocks can provide key clues to researching the crust–mantle interactions and the tectonic evolution of collisional orogenic belts. This study investigated a suite of newly discovered mafic intrusions in the middle of the East Kunlun orogenic belt through integrated analysis of petrology, petrography, and zircon U–Pb dating. The data could offer new insights into the generation of the Proto-Tethyan tectonic evolution. The result shows that these mafic intrusions are mainly gabbro and diabase, formed in the Early Devonian, with zircon U–Pb ages of 408.9 ± 2.0 Ma for gabbro and 411.1 ± 3.1 Ma for diabase. It consists of plagioclase, pyroxene, and dark minerals, and a small number of calcite and chlorite. Diabase has a small amount of amygdale. Their Na2O + K2O contents range from 3.47 wt.% to 5.45 wt.%, with Na2O/K2O ratios from 1.39 to 3.09, suggesting that they are calc–alkaline rocks. These rocks have an Fe2O3ᵀ content of 7.68 wt.%–11.59 wt.% and Mg# of 50.58–59.48, belonging to the iron-rich and magnesium-poor type. The chondrite-normalized rare earth elements show similar patterns that are characterized by enrichment of light rare earth elements, with (La/Yb)N of 3.27–6.75 and no significant europium anomaly, indicating the rocks are homogenous. The studied rocks are characterized by low contents of compatible elements Cr and Ni, enrichment of large-ion lithophile elements such as Rb, U, Sr, and Nd, and high-field-strength elements such as Nb, Ta, Zr, Hf, and Th. The mafic magma originated from the partial melting of the enriched mantle and was assimilated and mixed with crust materials during the process of migration. Based on the regional tectonic evolution, we interpret that the Proto-Tethys Ocean had closed in the Early Devonian, and that the East Kunlun region was in a post-collisional extensional tectonic setting. The Kaimuqi area in the Eastern Kunlun Orogen (EKO) contains many lherzolite, olivine websterite, gabbro and diorite intrusions, and new zircon U–Pb dating, Lu–Hf isotope and whole-rock geochemical data are presented herein to further confirm the Late Triassic mafic–ultramafic magmatism with Cu–Ni mineralization and to discuss the petrogenesis and geodynamic setting. Zircon U–Pb dating shows that the Late Triassic ages, corresponding to 220 Ma and 222 Ma, reveal the mafic–ultramafic and dioritic magmatism in Kaimuqi, respectively. Zircon from gabbro has εHf(t) values of −3.4 to −0.2, with corresponding TDM1 ages of 994–863 Ma. The mafic–ultramafic rocks generally have low SiO2, (Na2O+K2O) and TiO2 contents and high MgO contents and Mg# values. They are relatively enriched in light rare earth elements (LREEs) and large ion lithophile elements (LILEs) and depleted in heavy REEs (HREEs) and high-field-strength elements (HFSEs), indicating that the primary magma was derived from the metasomatized lithospheric mantle. The diorites show sanukitic high-Mg andesite properties (e.g., MgO = 2.78%–3.54%, Mg# = 50–55, Cr = 49.6–60.0 ppm, Sr = 488–512 ppm, Y = 19.6–21.8 ppm, Ba = 583–722 ppm, Sr/Y = 23.5–25.4, K/Rb = 190–202 and Eu/Eu* = 0.73–0.79), with LREEs and LILEs enrichments and HREEs and HFSEs depletions. We suggest that the primary Kaimuqi diorite magma originated from enriched lithospheric mantle that was metasomatized by subduction-derived fluids and sediments. The Kaimuqi mafic–ultramafic and dioritic intrusions, with many other mafic–ultramafic and K-rich granitic/rhyolitic rocks in the EKO, formed in a dynamic extensional setting after the Palaeo-Tethys Ocean closure. The Saidikulam nephrite deposit, which is famous for its high-quality white nephrite no matter in history and nowadays, is located in the eastern part of the Western Kunlun Orogen, in the northwestern margin of the Tibetan Plateau, Yutian County, Xinjiang, China. Field investigations and petrographic observations revealed the presence of five mineral assemblage zones from granodiorite to dolomitic marble in the Saidikulam nephrite deposit: slightly epidote-altered granodiorite → epidote-altered diopsidite → nephrite → calcite tremolitite → calcite-bearing dolomitic marble. However, little is known about the relationships among these five zones or the formation age of the deposit. The slightly epidote-altered granodiorite consists of plagioclase, orthoclase, quartz, biotite, and epidote, with accessory apatite, zircon, and allanite. They exhibit slightly negative Eu anomalies (0.69–0.72), with declined light rare earth element (LREE) and flat heavy rare earth element (HREE) patterns. They are also strongly enriched in Rb, Zr, U, and Sm and depleted in Hf, Ti, P, and Nb. The epidote-altered diopsidite close to the granodiorite intrusions is a relatively high-temperature metasomatic rock composed of Fe-rich diopside and actinolite, while the calcite tremolitite adjacent to the dolomitic marble is a relatively low-temperature rock composed of prismatic tremolite and calcite. The main mineral component of the nephrite is tremolite, with minor epidote, chlorite, apatite, calcite, graphite, and allanite. The nephrites have low ∑REE contents (4.38–18.53 ppm), with declined LREE and flat HREE patterns. All of the analyzed nephrite exhibits pronounced negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.20–0.82), and they are strongly enriched in Rb, U, and Ti and relatively depleted in Ba and HFSEs. SHRIMP U–Pb dating of zircons from the granodiorite yielded a Concordia age of 453.8 ± 3.7 Ma, which is interpreted as the upper limit of the Saidikulam nephrite formation age. The zircons in the epidotized syenite in the deposit yielded a SHRIMP Concordia U–Pb age of 489.2 ± 4.2 Ma. These two ages indicate that the dolomitic marble experienced at least two thermal events. The approximate ages of the nephrite deposits along the giant Kunlun-Altyn Tagh belt indicate that the closure of the Proto-Tethys may have been the predominant driving force for the formation of the whole nephrite deposits. However, the mechanisms driving Co remobilization during tectonic-hydrothermal overprinting events remain poorly understood. As a dominant Co repository, pyrite can provide valuable insights into mineralization history due to its refractory nature. Here, we present the first micro-analytical investigation of pyrite from the Tuolugou Co(–Au) deposit in East Kunlun Orogenic Belt. Ore textures indicate that Co mineralization is attributed to two distinct stages: primary enrichment and subsequent overprinting processes. The former is characterized by pyrite (PyI with up to 3.92 wt% Co) remnants exhibiting oscillatory zones, while the latter is marked by deformation of pyrite (PyII) ores. Three overprinting episodes, namely Da, Db, and Dc, are further distinguished according to varying extents of deformation and mineral assemblages. The Da is characterized by synkinematic PyIIa (up to 4.18 wt% Co) augens, which were most likely formed via pressure–solution mechanism. The Db is represented by polygonal PyIIb (up to 4.75 wt% Co) and siegenite with 120° triple–point junctions. The random orientation and rare intragrain misorientation of cobaltiferous sulfides at Db suggest their formation by recrystallization without plastic strains. The Dc resulted in the formation of Co ± As–rich PyIIc (up to 5.36 wt% Co) along with minor occurrence of cobaltite–gersdorffite, pyrrhotite (up to 1.25 wt% Co), and marcasite (up to 1.28 wt% Co). The PyIIc replacing PyI underscores the role of fluid-coupled dissolution and precipitation during fluid–rock interactions in the formation of these cobaltiferous sulfide assemblages at Dc. The presence of PyIIc infilling within the PyI fissures, in conjunction with the transition from siegenite to cobaltite–gersdorffite, suggests a shift towards low f O2 and low temperature conditions under relatively brittle setting. There is a discernible disparity in sulfur isotope compositions between the two mineralization stages. The PyI exhibits a narrow range of δ34S V–CDT values from –2.14 to 1.35 ‰, indicating a magmatic sulfur origin. In contrast, PyII displays a wide δ34S V–CDT range of –5.22 to 6.16 ‰, suggesting an involvement of strata sulfur during the overprinting stage. Monazite U-Pb dating has effectively constrained two mineralization events. The ca. 453 Ma age implies a potential correlation of the primary Co mineralization with the Late Ordovician to Early Silurian exhalative-syngenetic processes in a Proto–Tethyan-related post–collisional extension setting. Conversely, the ca. 190 Ma age indicates that Co remobilization was instigated by the early Mesozoic ductile–brittle deformation associated with the Paleo-Tethyan orogenesis. Finally, geochemical modeling was performed by simulating the interaction of a Co-rich acidic, reducing fluid with typical quartz-albitite rocks. The simulations demonstrate the appearance of independent Co minerals such as Co-pentlandite during the reaction progression, greatly supporting ore upgrading via tectonic-hydrothermal overprinting. Genetic classification of sediment-hosted Au deposits is often disputed in many orogenic belts around the world. The marine sediment-hosted Qukuleke Au deposit (>5 t Au) is an example of this, which has been attributed to orogenic or intrusion-related type. This paper addresses its metallogeny through detailed geologic and petrographic studies, together with apatite U–Pb dating and C–O–S–Pb isotopes. The hydrothermal paragenesis at Qukuleke is divided into three stages (I to III): Stage I (pre-ore) sheeted quartz veins; Stage II (main ore) pervasive sericite ± carbonate ± apatite ± pyrite ± arsenopyrite alteration associated with quartz–calcite ± stibnite veins; Stage III (post-ore) barren calcite veins. LA-ICP–MS hydrothermal apatite U–Pb dating on Stage II disseminated Au ore yielded 208.1 ± 6.5 Ma, coeval with the Late Triassic post-collisional intrusions from the periphery of Qukuleke deposit. Carbon–oxygen isotopes of Au–Sb ore-related hydrothermal calcite show that the hydrothermal fluids were derived from the marine carbonate ore host with considerable magmatic input. Lead–sulfur isotopes of the Au–Sb ore-related are consistent with those of coeval intrusions around the deposit, but different from those of the local sedimentary strata. Our age and geochemical data suggest the presence of a magma source that supplied the hydrothermal fluids, sulfur and metals for the mineralization. Combining the low sulfide content and the Au–As–W–Sb–Mo assemblage characteristics, the Qukuleke is best classified as a sediment-hosted intrusion-related Au deposit. Considering also the discovery of the large coeval Qukukekedong Au deposit nearby, we propose that Late Triassic intrusion-related Au system is a high-potential exploration target in the western EKOB. The East Kunlun Orogenic Belt is located in the western part of the Central Orogenic Belt of China, with a large number of Triassic igneous rocks parallel to the Paleo-Tethys ophiolite belt, which provides a large amount of geological information for the tectonic evolution of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean. The granitoids studied in this paper are located in the Ela Mountain area in the eastern part of the East Kunlun Orogenic Belt. Zircon U-Pb dating results show that these different types of granitoids were crystallized in the Triassic. The 247.5 Ma porphyritic granites from Zairiri (ZRR) displayed calc-alkaline I-type granite affinities, with the zircon εHf(t) values being mainly positive (−0.5 to + 3.8, TDM2 of 1309–1031 Ma), indicating that they are derived from the partial melting of the juvenile crust and mixed with ancient crustal components. The 236.8 Ma Henqionggou (HQG) granodiorites and 237.5 Ma Daheba (DHB) granodiorites are high-K calc-alkaline I-type granite, and both have mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs), showing higher and more varied Mg# (39.73–62.73), combined with their negative Hf isotopes (εHf(t) = −2.6 to −1.6, TDM2 = 1430–1369 Ma), suggesting that their primary magmas were the products of partial melting of the Mesoproterozoic lower crust that mixed with mantle-derived rocks. The 236.4 Ma DHB porphyritic diorites showed characteristics of high-K calc-alkaline I-type granitoids, with moderate SiO2 contents, medium Mg# values (40.41–40.65), with the Hf isotopes (εHf(t) = −2.9 to −0.5; TDM2 = 1451–1298 Ma) indistinguishably relative to contemporaneous host granodiorites and MMEs. The petrographic and geochemical characteristics indicate that the porphyritic diorites are the product of well-mixed magma derived from the Mesoproterozoic lower crust and lithospheric mantle. Based on the results of this paper and previous data, the chronology framework of Late Permian–Triassic magmatic rocks in the eastern part of the East Kunlun Orogenic Belt was constructed, and the magmatic activities in this area were divided into three peak periods, with each peak representing an extensional event in a particular tectonic setting, for example, P1 (slab roll-back in subduction period; 254–246 Ma), P2 (slab break-off in transition period of subduction and collision; 244–232 Ma), P3 (delamination after collision; 230–218 Ma). The East Kunlun Orogenic Belt (E‐KOB) of the northern Tibetan Plateau is an accretionary orogenic belt, which has experienced complicated tectonic evolutionary processes of the Proto‐ to Palaeo‐Tethys Ocean. The Muztagh‐Buqingshan‐Anemaqen ophiolitic mélange zone (MBAM) is an accretionary complex related to the northward subduction of the Tethyan Ocean. Numerous intrusions outcropped in MBAM have witnessed the long‐term subduction‐accretionary process and thus site the key to comprehending the tectonic evolution of the E‐KOB, as well as the Tethyan Ocean. In this study, petrological, geochronological, and geochemical studies of the Marzheng diorites in the MBAM were carried out to explore the Early Palaeozoic tectonic evolution of the E‐KOB. Zircon U–Pb dating analysis suggests that the diorites were formed in the Early Ordovician at ca. 470 Ma. Furthermore, the εHf(t) values (5.3–14.1), Mg# values (39.7–51.2), and Nb/Ta (12.8–14.8), Zr/Hf (33.8–44.8), and Lu/Yb (0.15–0.16) ratios are generally close to those of depleted mantle‐derived rocks and the diorites were originated from a depleted asthenosphere mantle source. In addition, these diorites are characterized by enriched light rare earth elements (LREEs) (La and Nd) and depleted high‐field‐strength elements (HFSEs) (Nb, Ta, P, and Ti), similar to the fingerprints of arc‐related gabbroic‐dioritic rocks. This is also consistent with their high H2Omelt (6.0–8.3%) and oxygen fugacity (logfO2 = −14.3 to −13.5) features, indicating that they were formed in a subduction‐related setting. Calc‐alkaline granitoid intrusions with abundant mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) are widespread in the East Kunlun orogenic belt (EKOB). Here, we present petrological observations, zircon U–Pb ages, whole‐rock geochemical, and Sr–Nd–Hf isotopic data for quartz diorites and the MMEs in the Asiha gold ore deposit in the EKOB, to constrain their petrogenesis and tectonic setting. The laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer 206Pb–238U ages of zircons indicate that the host quartz diorites and their MMEs from the Asiha gold deposit crystallized at 228.4 ± 1.7 Ma and 229.0 ± 1.7 Ma, respectively, which is similar to the gold mineralization age. Whole‐rock geochemical data indicate that the quartz diorites are I‐type granites. The MMEs have εHf(t) values of −7.6 to −0.2, −2.1 on average, whereas those of the quartz diorites range from −3.2 to −0.8, with a mean value of −2.1, which is identical within analytical uncertainty. Moreover, the host quartz diorites and their MMEs have relatively homogeneous Sr–Nd isotopic compositions, with high initial 87Sr/86Sr ratios and low εNd(t) values ranging from 0.70914 to 0.70963 and from −5.9 to −5.5, respectively. In summary, the MMEs and host quartz diorites have similar geochemical characteristics, indistinguishable Sr–Nd–Hf isotopic composition, and almost simultaneous crystallization age. Geochemical evidence shows that they formed due to the mixing of crust‐ and mantle‐derived magmas. Combined with our new results and published geological, geochronological, and geochemical data, this paper proposes that the EKOB had evolved into a post‐collisional environment at about 230–228 Ma, and the host quartz diorites and their MMEs from the Asiha complex formed in the transitional stage from the syn‐collisional to the post‐collisional setting. The Elashan magmatic belt is located at the eastern margin of the East Kunlun orogenic belt (E‐KOB) in northwestern China, where voluminous magmatism occurred during the Late Permian to Late Triassic. Mid‐Triassic volcanism produced the Xilikete Formation, which shows a geochemistry similar to that of highly fractionated I‐type (HFI) volcanic rocks. These rocks are characterized by high SiO2 (73.82–74.97 wt%), differentiation index (DI; 91.01–94.69), and alkalis (e.g., high K2O + Na2O, with K2O/Na2O ratios greater than 1.0) and by enrichment in some large‐ ion lithophile elements (LILEs; e.g., Rb, K, and Pb) and depletion in other LILEs (e.g., Ba and Sr) as well as some high‐field‐strength elements (HFSEs; e.g., Nb, Ta, and Ti); these features confirm that they are HFI volcanic rocks. Zircon U–Pb ages indicate that the volcanic rocks were emplaced at ~239 Ma. These zircons have εHf(t) values ranging from −2.26 to +0.36, with two‐stage model ages (TDM2) of 1,441–1,221 Ma, indicating a magma source that involved partial melting of Mesoproterozoic lower crust accompanied by a minor juvenile mantle component. The ~240 Ma magmatism in the E‐KOB was probably developed in response to subduction of the Palaeo‐Tethys oceanic plate. Previous studies indicate that a tectonic transformation from subduction to continental collision occurred at ~240 Ma. Combining these data with regional geological observations, we conclude that the Daheba volcanic rocks formed in an active continental margin setting related to the subduction of the Palaeo‐Tethys oceanic plate beneath the E‐KOB. [Display omitted] • The Hacipushanbei deposit represents a Triassic mineralization event in the EKO. • Fluid and geochemical data indicate a magmatic affiliation for the ore formation. • Fluid immiscibility occurred to promote precipitation of polymetallic sulfides. A recent mineral exploration programme in the East Kunlun Orogen (EKO) identified the new Hacipushanbei Pb-polymetallic deposit. The ores are hosted in faults in granitic rocks and are marked by high Pb grades up to 22.5 %. U–Pb dating of calcites associated with mineralization yields an intersection age of 208 ± 9 Ma, indicating a late Triassic mineralization event. Fluid-inclusion analysis reveals that the ore-forming fluids are characterized by medium-to-high temperature, medium-to-low salinity, and low density. Fluid boiling or immiscibility during ore-formation is also noted. Three sub-generations of pyrite (Py1-1, Py1-2, and Py2) are recognized in the early mineralization stages. In situ trace element analysis shows low Co and Ni contents in Py1-1 and Py1-2 but high contents in Py2. Conversely, Au and As concentrations are the highest in Py1-2. Variations in As contents are systematically coupled with Au. Additionally, sphalerite in the second stage contains higher amounts of Co, Cu, Cd, and In, via a wide range of isomorphic elemental substitutions of X4+(Sn4+ and Ge4+) + X3+(In3+, Sb3+, and Ga3+) + X+(Ag+ and Cu+) ↔ 4Zn2+ and the associated In enrichment. The average δ 34S values of in situ and single minerals of Py1-1, Py1-2, Py2, Sp2, Ccp2, and Gn3 are 2.3 ‰, 3.3 ‰, 2.6 ‰, 2.4 ‰, 2.2 ‰, and 0.9 ‰, respectively. These values display a trend of initial increase and then decrease, consistent with thermodynamic fractionation. These data collectively indicate that the ore-forming fluid originated from a deep-seated magma chamber, and subsequent fluid immiscibility led to the formation of high-grade ores. Given the conspicuous association of Pb-polymetallic deposits with magmatic rocks in the EKO, we envisage that our genetic model can be applied, to some extent, to evaluate the potential of some mineral exploration targets. The timing of closing of the A'nyemaqen Ocean—the north branch of the Palaeo‐Tethys Ocean—and the subsequent continental collision remain controversial. In this study, detailed geochronological and geochemical analyses of the Baishiya granodiorite porphyries in the Dulan area [eastern segment of the East Kunlun Orogen Belt (EKOB)] were conducted. The LA–ICP–MS zircon U–Pb dating analysis revealed that the Baishiya granodiorite porphyries were emplaced during the Late Triassic (~223 Ma) and possess adakitic features, including relatively high SiO2 (67.2–69.0 wt%), Al2O3 (15.2–15.9 wt%), and Sr (416–540 ppm) contents, low Y (10.5–12.3 ppm) and Yb (1.03–1.38 ppm) contents, and high Sr/Y and La/Yb ratios. They belong to the high‐K calc‐alkaline series and show significant light rare‐earth element enrichment, minor Eu anomalies, HFSE depletion, and LILE enrichment. The porphyries record a narrow range of (87Sr/86Sr)i ratios (0.709067–0.709920) and ɛNd(t) values (−6.84 to −5.27) with two‐stage model ages (TDM2) ranging from 1,426 to 1,554 Ma. These geochemical features imply that the Baishiya granodiorite porphyries originated from the partial melting of the thickened Mesoproterozoic lower crust by mixing with minor mantle‐derived material. Late Triassic adakitic magmatism in the eastern segment of the EKOB formed in a post‐collisional extension setting due to the closing of the A'nyemaqen Ocean since Early Triassic.
