The Ottoman Empire was established in the western neighboring Iran during the late 13th century and early 14th centuries. The relationship between the Ottoman Empire and Iran fluctuated between periods of peace and conflict. The migration of Iranian scholars to the Ottoman Empire is a significant aspect of the historical ties between These two country. One of these scholars was Mohammad ibn Mahmoud Shirvani who authored medical books and served different Ottoman rulers. He was born in the Shirvan region of Azerbaijan and later migrated to the Ottoman Empire. He served in the court of Sultan Mehmed II as one of the seven esteemed physicians. He continued to practice medicine and held the position of Chief Physician of Bayezid II before the year 889 AH. His works include pharmaceutical compilations like Revzat al-Atr fi’l-Tibb, ophthalmology works such as al-Murshid, and other medical compilations like Sultaniye and Yaqubiyye. These works indicate Shirvani’s extensive knowledge in various medical fields. Shirvani’s familiarity with the works of respected physicians like Avicenna and Ibn al-Baytar enriched his contributions to various medical fields. As an Iranian, he was able to draw from the works of other Iranian doctors written in Persian, benefiting from their insights. He made significant contributions to medical knowledge in the Ottoman civilization, as he facilitated the transmission of Iranian medical scholarship to the Ottoman Empire. Further research on his manuscripts and their comparison with medical texts from subsequent periods could yield valuable insights into his lasting impact on the field of medicine. In southern India, forming the Deccan Shiite governments (1098-895 AH / 1687-1489 AD), which was simultaneous with the Safavid reign in Iran, resulted in incremental Iranians’ immigration to this region. Among immigrants, Iranian Shiite physicians, due to their high medical knowledge and considerable skill, along with the support of the Shiite rulers, enhanced their status and settled in areas under the control of those governments, contributing to the festive medical production and developments there. The main objective of this research is to investigate the effect of the Iranian Shiite physicians, who migrated to the Deccan region, on the Shiite governments' medical advancements. The research hypothesis is that the Iranian physicians developed medicine by establishing Dar al-Shifa (medical schools and hospitals) and teaching and authoring medical books in Persian. Moreover, upon the invitation and support of the Adil Shahi, Nizam Shahi, and Qutb Shahi Shiite rulers, they were appointed as special physicians in the court, resulting in the flourishing and advancement of medical sciences in those areas. In the article, we explore the factors which brought about the transatlantic coordination of the policy of imposing sanctions on Iran. We will mainly focus on the events in the 21st century when the new incentives for cooperation appeared due to the growing concern over the development of Iran's nuclear programme. Considering the capabilities of using the tools of economic statecraft and diplomacy, we claim that the EU-US cooperation can be termed a co-leadership. The assessment and the reasons for the transatlantic break-up on this matter during the presidency of Donald Trump was examined using the concept of relative gains. We evaluate to what extent the initial goals were achieved in practice, and we also try to predict the possible consequences of the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). As to whether the effectiveness of the sanctions through the cooperation has been enhanced, the answer is ambivalent. On the one hand, the cooperating transatlantic partners managed to coerce Iran through isolating the country from international economic contacts and negotiated the JCPOA. The present study attempts to assess the performance of border markets and their effects on the sustainable development of border regions of Iran. Tamarchin, the oldest border market of Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran, was selected as the case for the study since it has ranked first in the country, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The data for the study was collected from two different sources: official statistics released by the Customs Office, the Ministries of Commerce and Corporation of Iran during 2001-2007 and data gathered from a questionnaire distributed among some active West Azerbaijan border traders and also from a face-to-face interview with those traders. The results of the study indicated that considering high growth potential and many other advantages of the province, West Azerbaijan can play a significant role in the creation and establishment of border markets of the country.
