Liriodendron chinense (Hemsl.) Sarg. (Magnoliales: Magnoliaceae), valued for its medicinal properties and timber and as an ornamental plant, is now classified as an endangered species. Investigating how future climate-change scenarios might affect the potential geographic distribution of L. chinense will provide a crucial scientific basis for its protection and management strategies. The MaxEnt model was calibrated using the ENMeval optimization package, and then it was coupled with ArcGIS 10.8 to forecast the possible distribution areas of L. chinense in China, utilizing elevation data, bioclimatic factors, and human footprint as environmental variables. The results indicate: (1) The optimal model parameters were set as follows: FC = LQ, RM = 0.5, the MaxEnt model demonstrated high predictive accuracy and minimal overfitting; (2) The total suitable habitat area for the potential geographical distribution of L. chinense during the current period is estimated at 151.55 × 104 km2, predominantly located in central, eastern, and southwestern regions of China; (3) The minimum temperature of the coldest month (bio6), precipitation of the driest month (bio14), precipitation of the driest quarter (bio17), precipitation of the warmest quarter (bio18), elevation (alt), and human footprint (hf) are the main environmental variables determining the suitable habitat distribution of L. chinense; (4) During the period from 2041 to 2060, under the carbon emission scenarios of SSP126, SSP245, and SSP370, the suitable habitat for L. chinense shows varying degrees of increase compared to the current period. However, under the highest concentration scenario of SSP585, the suitable habitat area decreases to some extent; (5) The distribution of L. chinense is likely to move towards higher latitudes and elevations in the future due to changes in the climate. This research provides a comprehensive analysis of the potential impacts of climate change on L. chinense, offering valuable information for its protection and management under future climatic conditions. Vaccinium duclouxii, a wild blueberry species native to the mountainous regions of southwestern China, is notable for its exceptionally high anthocyanin content, surpassing that of many cultivated varieties and offering significant research potential. Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are versatile enzymes crucial for anthocyanin transport in plants. Yet, the GST gene family had not been previously identified in V. duclouxii. This study utilized a genome-wide approach to identify and characterize the GST gene family in V. duclouxii, revealing 88 GST genes grouped into seven distinct subfamilies. This number is significantly higher than that found in closely related species, with these genes distributed across 12 chromosomes and exhibiting gene clustering. A total of 46 members are classified as tandem duplicates. The gene structure of VdGST is relatively conserved among related species, showing closer phylogenetic relations to V. bracteatum and evidence of purifying selection. Transcriptomic analysis and qRT-PCR indicated that VdGSTU22 and VdGSTU38 were highly expressed in flowers, VdGSTU29 in leaves, and VdGSTF11 showed significant expression in ripe and fully mature fruits, paralleling trends seen with anthocyanin accumulation. Subcellular localization identified VdGSTF11 primarily in the plasma membrane, suggesting a potential role in anthocyanin accumulation in V. duclouxii fruits. This study provides a foundational basis for further molecular-level functional analysis of the transport and accumulation of anthocyanins in V. duclouxii, enhancing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying anthocyanin metabolism in this valuable species. As a treatment option for cancer, thermal ablation has satisfactory effects on many types of solid tumors (such as liver and renal cancers). However, its clinical applications for the treatment of thyroid nodules and metastatic cervical lymph nodes are still under debate both in China and abroad. In 2015, the "Zhejiang Expert consensus on thermal ablation for thyroid benign nodules, microcarcinoma, and metastatic cervical lymph nodes (2015 edition)," was released by the Thyroid Cancer Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, China. To further standardize the application of thermal ablation for thyroid tumors, the Thyroid Tumor Ablation Experts Group of Chinese Medical Doctor Association has organized many seminars and finally produced a consensus to formulate the "Expert consensus workshop report: Guidelines for thermal ablation of thyroid tumors (2019 edition)." Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficiency of transduodenal ampullectomy (TDA) compared to conventional pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) in patients with early ampullary cancers. Methods: We carried out a retrospective study by reviewing the medical records of 43 patients with early ampullary cancer who underwent either TDA or PD from January 2001 to December 2014. TDA and PD were performed on 22 patients and 21 patients, respectively. Clinical data, perioperative clinical outcomes and prognosis were evaluated. The median follow-up was 75 (range, 38-143) months. Results: The sensitivity of intraoperative frozen resection was 100 % (4/4) and 94.9 % (37/39) in patients with pTis and pT1 tumors compared to final histologic diagnoses. The 5-year survival rate of patients with early ampullary cancer was 77.3 % in TDA group and 75.9 % in PD group (P = 0.927). Patients with lymph node metastasis presented a shorter 5-year survival rate (P = 0.014). TDA was associated with lower surgical morbidity (P = 0.033), estimated blood loss (P = 0.002), medical cost (P = 0.028) compared to PD. No pancreatic fistula and surgical mortality occurred in TDA group. Conclusions: TDA could produce satisfactory clinical efficiency in patients fulfilled the following criteria simultaneously: pTis or pT1 stage, tumor size ≤ 2 cm, without lymph node metastasis. The alpine grassland ecosystem accounts for 53 % of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP) area and is an important ecological protection barrier, but it is fragile and vulnerable to climate change. Therefore, continuous monitoring of grassland aboveground biomass (AGB) is necessary. Although many studies have mapped the spatial distribution of AGB for the QTP, the results vary widely due to the limited ground samples and mismatches with satellite pixel scales. This paper proposed a new algorithm using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as a bridge to estimate the grassland AGB on the QTP from 2000 to 2019. The innovations were as follows: (1) in terms of ground data acquisition, spatial-scale matching among the traditional ground samples, UAV photos, and MODIS pixels was considered. A total of 906 pairs between field-harvested AGB and UAV sub-photos and 2602 sets of MODIS pixel-scale UAV data (over 37 000 UAV photos) were collected during 2015–2019. Therefore, the ground validation samples were sufficient and scale-matched. (2) In terms of model construction, the traditional quadrat scale (0.25 m 2) was successfully upscaled to the MODIS pixel scale (62 500 m 2) based on the random forest and stepwise upscaling methods. Compared with previous studies, the scale matching of independent and dependent variables was achieved, effectively reducing the impact of spatial-scale mismatch. The results showed that the correlation between the AGB values estimated by UAV and MODIS vegetation indices was higher than that between field-measured AGB and MODIS vegetation indices at the MODIS pixel scale. The multi-year validation results showed that the constructed MODIS pixel-scale AGB estimation model had good robustness, with an average R2 of 0.83 and RMSE of 34.13 g m -2. Our dataset provides an important input parameter for a comprehensive understanding of the role of the QTP under global climate change. Remote sensing-based vegetation index (VI) data are significantly impacted by cloud contamination. Spatiotemporal reconstruction methods demonstrate higher accuracy than temporal reconstruction methods. However, the computing time and random access memory (RAM) consumption of these spatiotemporal reconstruction methods for large-scale reconstruction remains unclear. In this study, a method called spatial-interannual reconstruction (SIR) was proposed to reconstruct cloud-contaminated pixels in MODIS normalized difference VI (NDVI) and enhanced VI (EVI) data. SIR has four major advantages: (1) High accuracy. The average mean absolute error of SIR was 0.0338, which was 20.2% and 23.4% lower than that of two state-of-the-art spatiotemporal reconstruction methods (i.e. interpolation of the mean anomalies (IMA) and Gapfill). (2) High computing speed. The average computing time of SIR was 99.7% and 98.8% lower than IMA and Gapfill, respectively. (3) Low RAM consumption. (4) Simultaneous reconstruction of all invalid values. Reconstructed 250 m spatial resolution and 16-day composite NDVI and EVI datasets in China from 2000 to 2022 (written as ReVIChina) were developed based on the SIR method and MODIS MOD13Q1 data. • An integrated process was proposed to treat highly concentrated toilet wastewater. • The integrated process significantly improved the COD and nitrogen removal compared with AAO. • EC can ensure that the effluent quality meets the mandated requirements. • The economic analysis confirmed that the integrated process was feasible. Low-flush toilets have received increasing attention in relation to the water crisis in water-scarce regions because the vacuum flushing system (VFS) can reduce the amount of water required for flushing by approximately 80%. However, low-flush toilet wastewater exhibits the characteristics of high pollutant concentrations and cannot be directly discharged into urban pipe networks; therefore, decentralized wastewater treatment is necessary. Traditional control process (mainly consisting of hydrolysis acidification tank (HAT), anaerobic-anoxic–oxic (AAO) tank, coagulation sedimentation filtration tank and UV disinfection) was unsatisfactory for treating this type of wastewater. Therefore, a newly designed integrated biological-electrocatalytic (AAIE) process (mainly consisting of anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR), alternating internal circulation activated sludge process (AICS), and electrocatalytic oxidation (EC)) was introduced. ABR achieved large amounts of organic matter removal, the organic biodegradation kinetics revealed that the maximum specific degradation rate of the ABR was 0.050 to 0.082 d−1; AICS further removed COD and nitrogen, the denitrification rate and growth rate of nitrifying bacteria in the AICS were in the range of 0.079–0.121 kg/(kg·d) and 0.32–1.54 d−1, respectively. The temperature and organic loading rate were identified as two key parameters for ABR and AICS to remove pollutants, therefore, EC was the guarantee to make the effluent quality met the directly discharge standard of China (GB 18918-2002), especially in winter. The results showed that the AAIE process presented COD, colority, ammonia and total nitrogen removal rates of 98.5 ± 0.7%, 98.8 ± 0.6%, 97.0 ± 0.4% and 93.4 ± 2.6%, respectively, which were considerably higher than those of the control process. Furthermore, the economic analysis indicated that the AAIE process was feasible and may help to pave the way for wide application of biological-electrocatalytic processes for highly concentrated toilet wastewater treatment. Abstract: Body measurement traits, influenced by genes and environmental factors, play numerous important roles in the value assessment of productivity and economy. In this study, we investigated the association between genetic polymorphisms of the zinc finger and BTB domain containing 38 gene (ZBTB38) and body measurement traits in native Chinese cattle. Using direct DNA sequencing in 423 individuals of 8 different cattle subpopulations, 9 novel polymorphisms were identified for genotyping within 647bp region of exon 1 of ZBTB38. Linkage disequilibrium and association analysis revealed that two coding exon polymorphisms (2323 G>A and 2325 C>T polymorphisms), missense mutations valine GTC(T) to isoleucine ATC(T), were associated with body length (BL), withers height (WH) and rump length (RL). Furthermore, the analysis of 2323 G>A and 2325 C>T SNP markers shows that there are significant effects on the BL (P=0.0488), WH (P=0.0044) and RL (P=0.0314) in the total population. These results clearly suggest that the ZBTB38 gene is among the target genes for body measurement traits in bovine breeding, and provide data for establishment of an animal model using cattle to study big animal body type.
