Search

Research on the geological process of the Xing'an -- Mongolia Orogenic Belt has attracted the attention of scholars both domestically and internationally. Its genesis and tectonic location may help revealing the geological processes asscoaited with the evolution of the Xing'an -- Mongolia Orogenic Belt. This study focuses on the development of the Permian granitic complex in Jielin Ranch, and we conduct systematic geological, petrographic, zircon U-Pb chronology, Hf isotope, and geochemical tracing of rock elements for evidence. The results show that the granitic complex is mainly composed of monzogranite and syenogranite, which obtained zircon U-Pb ages of 291.1 ± 1.1 Ma and 260.8 ± 1.1 Ma, respectively. The monzogranite and syenogranite are all acidic and aluminum rich rocks, and the monzogranite is a potassium rich, high potassium calcium alkaline rock series with relatively low REE content, high degree of fractionation, and insignificant europium anomalies, enriched with LILE (Rb, Th, U, K), deficient elements such as Ba, Sr, Nb, Ti, and P, εHf(t) values are from +4.1 to +7.0 (TDM2=1130-920 Ma). Geochemistry shows that the monzogranite belongs to high fractionation of I-type granite, which formed in a subduction-compressional or extension tectonic environment, and Middle Neoproterozoic lower crust rocks as the major source material of magma. The syenogranite is a potassium high potassium transitional rock series with a high rare earth content (214 x 10-6~325 x 10-6), low LREE/HREE (2.54-6.41), δEu (0.04-0.15) and the typical "four component effect" fractionation mode is enriched in large ion lithophilic elements such as Rb, Th, K, and strongly depleted in elements such as Ba, Sr, Nb, Ta, Ti, P, εHf(t) values are from +4.2 to +8.6 (TDM2=738-1228 Ma), suggesting the characteristics of an "A2 type" granite. The magma originated from partial melting of the lower crust of the Middle and Neoproterozoic with the participation of mantle derived melts, and was formed in a back-arc extensional environment. This suggests that the study area experienced a subduction-compressional or extension tectonic environment during the early Permian and a brief backarc extension process in the late Permian. This paper presents a detailed study including LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating, geochemical, zircon Hf isotope, and whole rock Sr-Nd isotope analysis of magmatic rocks from the Yitong County, Jilin Province, NE China. These data are used to better constrain the Middle Silurian–Middle Devonian tectonic evolution in the eastern segment of the northern margin of the North China Craton (NCC). Zircon U-Pb dating results show that the Ximangzhang tonalite formed in the Late Silurian (425 ± 6 Ma); the basalt, andesite, and metamorphic olivine-bearing basalt in the Fangniugou volcanic rocks formed in the Middle Silurian (428 ± 6.6 Ma) and Middle Devonian (388.4 ± 3.9 Ma, and 384.1 ± 4.9 Ma). The Late Silurian tonalites are characterized by high SiO2 and Na2O and low K2O, MgO, FeOT, and TiO2, with an A/CNK ratio of 0.91–1.00, characteristic of calc-alkaline I-type granite. They are enriched in Rb, Ba, Th, U, and K, and depleted in Nb, Sr, P, and Ti, with positive εNd(t) (+0.35) and εHf(t) (+0.44 to +6.31) values, suggesting that they mainly originated from the partial melting of Meso–Neoproterozoic accretionary lower crustal material (basalt). The Middle Silurian basalts are characterized by low SiO2, P2O5, TiO2, and Na2O and high Al2O3, FeOT, and K2O, enriched in Rb, Ba, Th, U, and K and depleted in Nb, Ta, Sr, P, and Ti, indicative of shoshonitic basalt. The Late Silurian tonalites have positive εNd(t) (+4.91 to +6.18) values and primarily originated from depleted mantle magmas metasomatized by subduction fluids, supplemented by a small amount of subducted sediments and crustal materials. The Middle Devonian volcanic rocks exhibit low SiO2, TiO2, and Na2O and high K2O, and MgO, enriched in Rb, K, and LREEs and depleted in Nb, Ta, Sr, and HREEs, characteristic of shoshonitic volcanic rocks. Their εNd(t) (+2.11 to +3.77) and εHf(t) (+5.90 to +11.73) values are positive. These characteristics indicate that the Middle Devonian volcanic rocks primarily originated from depleted mantle magmas metasomatized by subduction fluids, with the addition of crustal materials or subducted sediments during their formation. Based on regional geological data, it is believed that the study area underwent the following evolutionary stages during the Silurian–Devonian period: (1) active continental margin stage of southward subduction of the Paleo–Asian Ocean (PAO) (443–419 Ma); (2) arc-continent collision stage (419–405 Ma); (3) post-collision extension stage (404–375 Ma); (4) active continental margin stage, with the PAO plate subducting southward once again (375–360 Ma). The late Paleozoic tectonic setting of the Zongwulong Belt (ZWLB), a significant unit located in the northern Qaidam margin, Qinghai province, remains uncertain. Diabase dykes in the western part of the Zongwulong Belt offer insights into this issue. Field investigations reveal that the dips of the dykes are almost vertical, and they have sharp boundaries with the host rocks. These dykes consist of plagioclase, clinopyroxene, and opaque minerals exhibiting a characteristic porphyritic texture and massive structure. Zircon U-Pb dating of the dykes yields a weighted 206Pb/238U age of 289 ± 1 Ma. The dykes exhibit relatively high concentrations of TFeO, K2O + Na2O, and TiO2, while the SiO2 and MgO concentrations are relatively low. They display relative light-over-heavy REE enrichment, and lack negative Nb-Ta and Eu anomalies. The dykes underwent negligible crustal contamination, and experienced extensive fractional crystallization of olivine, clinopyroxene, and Fe-Ti oxides. Originating from the spinel–garnet transition zone at depths of approximately 75 km, the dykes result from garnet facies low-degree melting (5%–10%) in a continental rift setting. Combining these findings with regional geological data, we propose that the ZWLB likely experienced a continental rift in the west and exhibited a narrow oceanic environment in the east in the late Paleozoic period, potentially representing the most distant north branch of the East Paleo-Tethys Ocean. Permian intermediate–felsic igneous rocks, widely distributed in the southern Beishan orogen, provide crucial constraints on the geodynamic process of the late Paleozoic Paleo-Asian Ocean. New zircon U–Pb dating using LA–ICP–MS determines the age of the northern Qingshan diorites, the Heishantou quartz diorites, and the southern Qingshan biotite granodiorites at 300 Ma, 294 Ma, and 291–286 Ma, respectively. Their whole-rock compositions exhibit arc-like geochemical features. Moreover, their zircon trace elements show the characteristics of continental arc zircons. The diorites, characterized by low SiO2, high MgO with Mg# (50–52), and low Cr, Co, and Ni, display enrichment in Sr-Nd-Hf isotopes (87Sr/86Sr = 0.7060 to 0.7061; ℇNd(t) = −1.4 to −1.7; ℇHf(t) = −4.7 to −0.6), originating from the fractionation process of magma derived from the enriched mantle. The quartz diorites show moderate SiO2 and variable MgO (2.75–3.84 wt%) and exhibit enrichment in Sr-Nd (87Sr/86Sr = 0.7048–0.7050; ℇNd(t) = −1.5–+0.9) and depletion in zircon Hf isotopes (ℇHf(t) = 3.8 to 7.8). Combined with their high Y (20.0–21.0 ppm) and low (La/Yb)N (6.0 to 17.2), we conclude that they originated from the juvenile lower crust previously influenced by oceanic sediments, with the input of enriched mantle-derived materials. The biotite granodiorites display low A/CNK (0.91–0.97), 10000*Ga/Al (1.8–1.9), and Ti-in-zircon temperatures (average 711 °C), indicating that they are I-type granitoids. These rocks show enrichment in Sr-Nd isotopes (87Sr/86Sr = 0.7054 to 0.7061; ℇNd(t) = −2.0 to −1.6) and many variable zircon Hf isotopes (ℇHf(t) = −2.3 to +4.5). Geochemical studies indicate that they originate from the mixing of magmas derived from the enriched mantle and preexisting juvenile lower crust. All these data imply the existence of oceanic subduction in southern Beishan during the early Permian. Integrating these results with previous studies, it is inferred that the retreating subduction of the Liuyuan Ocean contributed to early Permian intermediate–felsic rocks becoming widespread in the Shibanshan unit, the southernmost part of the Beishan orogen, and also why the Paleo-Asian Ocean in southern Beishan did not close during the early Permian. The influence of the paleo-Tethys or paleo-Pacific oceanic plate subduction on Early Triassic South China has long been debated. We have studied the zircon U-Th-Hf isotopes, trace elements, and whole-rock geochemistry of Early Triassic peraluminous granitoids in the Qinzhou Bay area, South China Block. LA–ICP–MS zircon U–Pb dating has revealed the Jiuzhou granodiorites and Dasi-Taima granite porphyries formed between 248.32 ± 0.98 and 246.6 ± 1.1 Ma. These rocks are characterized by high K2O and Al2O3, and low MgO, CaO, and P2O5 contents with A/CNK = 1.06–1.17, showing high-K calc-alkaline S-type affinities. The Early Triassic intrusive rocks and adjacent silicic volcanic rocks in the Qinzhou Bay area were found to be comagmatic and derived from a common magma pool, detached in an undifferentiated melt instead of indicating remarkable crystal—melt separation. Although the analyzed granitoids have highly enriched zircon Hf isotopic compositions (εHf(t) = −23.9 to −7.8), they cannot originate solely from metasedimentary protoliths. Source discrimination indicators have revealed enriched lithospheric mantle-derived magma was also an endmember component of the S-type silicic magma, which provided a heat source for the crustal anatectic melting as well. We inferred the studied Early Triassic granitoids formed under the paleo-Tethys tectonic regime before the collision of South China and Indochina blocks, as the oceanic plate subduction would have created an extensional setting which further caused the mantle-derived upwelling and volcanic eruption. The Early Cretaceous Weideshan granites are associated with large-scale Au and polymetallic Cu-Mo-Pb-Zn mineralization. To investigate the petrogenesis of the Weideshan granite and constrain its tectonic setting during the Early Cretaceous, we conducted a zircon U-Pb-Hf isotope and whole-rock geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic study of the granite. In situ zircon U-Pb dating of three granite samples yielded Early Cretaceous ages of 112.83 ± 0.80, 112.64 ± 0.91, and 111.82 ± 0.78 Ma. The samples had high-K calc-alkaline compositions and were enriched in the light rare earth and large-ion lithophile elements (e.g., K, Rb, Ba, Th, and U) and depleted in high-field-strength elements (e.g., Nb, Ti, and P). The samples had small negative Eu anomalies and initial 87Sr/86Sr and εNd(t) values of 0.70853–0.71029 and –18 to –14, respectively. The zircon εHf(t) values varied between −16 and −12, with corresponding two-stage model ages (tDM2) of 2180–2000 Ma. These characteristics indicated that the Weideshan pluton was formed in a back-arc extensional environment caused by subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate toward the Asian continent during the early Cretaceous. The magma was generated by crust–mantle interaction during lithospheric thinning. The diagenetic age of the Weideshan granites was the same as the formation age of gold and polymetallic ores in the Jiaodong area. The extensive fluid circulation induced by the magma emplacement may be the main source of ore-forming materials for the gold and polymetallic Cu-Mo-Pb-Zn deposits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The early Paleoproterozoic (ca. 2.2–2.1 Ga) tectonic evolution of the Jiao–Liao–Ji belt (JLJB) is a continuous hot topic and remains highly controversial. Two main tectonic regimes have been proposed for the JLJB, namely arc-related setting and intra-continental rift. Abundant ca. 2.2–2.1 Ga volcanic rocks were formed in the JLJB, especially in the Liaodong Peninsula. These ca. 2.2–2.1 Ga volcanic rocks therefore could host critical information for the evolution of the JLJB. In this study, we report a suit of ca. 2.2–2.1 Ga felsic metavolcanic rocks in the Liaodong Peninsula of the JLJB to provide new insights into the above issue. Zircon U-Pb dating reveals that the felsic metavolcanic rocks were erupted at 2185–2167 Ma. They have variable εHf(t) values (−0.70 to +9.69), high SiO2 (66.30–75.30 wt.%) and relatively low TiO2 (0.03–0.78 wt.%), tFe2O3 (0.55–5.03 wt.%), MgO (0.17–8.76 wt.%), Cr (9.16–67.30 ppm), Co (2.01–7.00 ppm) and Ni (3.90–25.70 ppm) contents with enrichments in light rare earth element (REE) and large ion lithophile element (LILE), and depletions in heavy REE and high field strength element (HFSE). Geochemical and isotopic results indicate that the felsic metavolcanic rocks were sourced from partial melting of ancient Archean TTG rocks and juvenile lower crustal materials. Combined with coeval A-type granites, bimodal volcanic rocks and the absence of typical arc magmatism, the most likely tectonic regime at ca. 2.2–2.1 Ga for the JLJB is an intra-continental rift. There are several different models for the origin of syenites, but the role of magma mixing in the formation of syenites remains unclear. The Wulingshan alkaline complex in the northern North China Craton consists mainly of porphyritic syenite and syenite with abundant enclaves. These enclaves may provide new insights into the petrogenesis of syenites. We obtained zircon U–Pb age, mineral chemistry, whole‐rock major and trace elements, and Sr–Nd isotopic data for the enclaves and their host rocks to constrain the petrogenesis and identify the role of magma mixing during the formation of the different syenites in the Wulingshan alkaline complex. The results of zircon U–Pb dating indicate that the enclaves and host rocks crystallized contemporaneously at ca. 133 Ma. The enclaves contain abundant clinopyroxene, amphibole, and biotite, and their average Nb/Ta (18.46) and Th/Ce (0.04) ratios are similar to those of the mantle. The enclaves have relatively high Fe2O3T, MgO, and CaO contents, and their SiO2 contents are equivalent to those of intermediate rocks, indicating that they formed by mixing the mafic and felsic magmas to some extent. The different mineral assemblages, major and trace elements and isotopic compositions of the enclaves in the porphyritic syenite and syenite indicate that they are two batches of parental magma with different properties derived from the mantle. The porphyritic syenite and syenite have high SiO2 and low Fe2O3T, MgO, and CaO contents, as well as low V, Cr, Co, and Ni contents. These major and trace element characteristics of the host rocks require the involvement of crustal components. The Sr–Nd isotopic compositions of the enclaves and the host syenitoids plot on a mixing curve between enriched lithospheric mantle and lower crust, indicating that these rocks are the products of magma mixing and crust–mantle interaction. Considering the contact relationships, the geochemistry data, and the mixing model presented in the paper, we propose that the upwelling of the hot asthenosphere heated the overlying enriched lithospheric mantle and triggered low‐degree partial melting. The alkalic mafic magmas derived from enriched mantle sources were mixed with felsic magmas generated by partial melting of the lower (or upper) crust to form the different syenites. With the northward subduction and final closure of the Neo-Tethyan oceanic crust, the Indian and Eurasian plates finally collided together and underwent a strong collision orogenic event, resulting in large-scale crust–mantle magmatic interactions. In order to clarify the controversies about tectono-magmatic activities after the Indian–Eurasian continental collision, we report the newly dated Eocene Qiongduojiang gabbro explored in the Tethyan–Himalaya belt, southern Tibet. LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating shows that the crystallization age of the Qiongduojiang gabbro is 46.1 ± 1.7 Ma. The whole-rock major and trace elements, as well as Rb-Sr, Sm-Nd, and Pb isotopic data results, show that the Qiongduojiang gabbro is apparently depleted in Nd isotopes, is enriched in Pb isotopes, and has maintained a consistent 87Sr/86Sr(t) value. This paper argues that the E-MORB-like Qiongduojiang gabbro originated from asthenosphere upwelling caused by slab breakoff of the Neo-Tethyan oceanic plate. This event caused large-scale magmatic activities, a magmatic mixing process between ancient crust and deep mantle, and wild distribution of Eocene Gangdese plutons along the Yarlung–Tsangpo Suture Zone, and it rendered the subduction-modified Tibetan lithosphere fertile from the Gangdese porphyry Cu deposits. The tectonic transition from oceanic subduction to continental collision is a fundamental process during orogenesis, yet the nature of such transition and associated deep geodynamic processes for the Tibetan Plateau are still controversial. The long‐lived magmatism of the Gangdese Belt of southern Tibet provides an excellent opportunity to study the tectonic transition from subduction of the Neo‐Tethys oceanic lithosphere to the continental collision between Indian and Asian plates. We present zircon U–Pb–Hf isotopes, whole‐rock geochemistry, and Sr–Nd isotopes for the intrusions from Maizhokunggar, southern Lhasa Terrane. The zircon U–Pb dating indicates that two episodes of magmatism occurred in the Maizhokunggar region, ca. 70 Ma diorites and ca. 60 Ma granitoids. The ca. 70 Ma diorites are medium‐K calc‐alkaline and characterized by pronounced high‐field‐strength element depletion and light rare earth element enrichment, similar to arc‐type rocks. They have homogeneous (87Sr/86Sr)i ratios (0.70378–0.70424) and εNd(t) values (+2.6 to +3.4), and εHf(t) (+5.9 to +13.0) with relatively young depleted mantle model ages (307–762 Ma), suggesting that they were generated from the juvenile mafic lower crust induced by the underplating of basaltic magmas from depleted mantle wedge. The ca. 60 Ma granitoids, Kajiacun (KJC) granodiorites, and Qulongxue (QLX) and Bangdacun (BDC) monzogranites are high‐K series and metaluminous to weakly peraluminous. The KJC granodiorites with high Sr/Y ratios (25–43) are adakitic and were likely derived from partial melting of a thickened lower crust. The BDC monzogranites have more evolved Sr–Nd–Hf isotopes and older Nd–Hf model ages than the QLX monzogranites. These geochemical variations were mainly controlled by the fractionation crystallization with assimilation of ancient crustal materials. We propose that at ca. 70 Ma, the subduction of the Neo‐Tethys oceanic slab triggered the partial melting of the juvenile lower crust and formed the diorites with arc affinity, and then the initial collision (>60 Ma) between the Indian and Asian plates caused locally thickened lower crust, resulting in adakitic granodiorites. Our study sheds light on the lithospheric scale magma evolution from the deep mantle to the shallow crust during the critical geodynamic transition to collision, and early uplift. The widely distributed Eocene mafic microgranular enclaves in the Lhasa Terrane of southern Tibet carry important information regarding crust–mantle interactions in collisional zones. Here, we report geochronological and geochemical data of granitoids and mafic enclaves from Quxu in the southern Lhasa Terrane. Zircon LA‐ICP‐MS U–Pb dating indicates that the Quxu granitoids and enclaves were synchronously emplaced at ca. 50 Ma. The granitoids are medium‐ to high‐K calc‐alkaline, metaluminous (A/CNK = 0.82–0.90) and have high Al2O3 (14.48–16.57 wt%) and low MgO (2.81–2.99 wt%). The mafic enclaves (SiO2 = 50.55–54.57 wt%) have 5.12–5.37 wt% MgO and an Mg# of 49–51, with weakly negative Eu anomalies (Eu/Eu* = 0.85–0.91). The Quxu granitoids and enclaves have similar zircon Hf isotopic compositions, with εHf(t) values ranging from +7.62 to +13.32. A comprehensive study of the data available for coeval rocks from the Gangdese Batholith indicates that the Quxu granitoids were derived from partial melting of the lower crust, while the parental magmas of the mafic enclaves were most likely derived from lithospheric mantle beneath southern Tibet. The Quxu granitoids are interpreted as the result of mixing between the lower crust‐derived melts and lithospheric mantle‐derived mafic melts, which are likely the magmatic response to the breakoff of the Neo‐Tethyan Oceanic slab at about 50 Ma. This article discusses the geochemical and petrological evolution of the São José do Campestre granite complex (SJCgr), the last Neoarchean plutonic event so far described in the São José do Campestre massif in NE Brazil. We report field, petrographic, zircon U-Pb dating, and whole rock and mineral chemistry for representative SJCgr samples. Laser ablation zircon U-Pb data indicate that the granite emplacement took place at 2664 ± 13 Ma. The rocks comprising the SJCgr have relatively well-preserved primary textures and fabrics and compositions varying from gabbro to syenogranite. Major and trace element contents reveal a metaluminous, calc-alkaline through transitional to alkaline signature, and LILE- and LREE-enriched series analogous to late Archean sanukitoid and modern arc granitoid. The evolution of the SJCgr is envisaged as follows: (1st) partial melting of a metasomatized mantle (2.5-3.0 GPa, ~85=102 km, 1,000-1,200°C), generating a basaltic to basaltic andesitic magma; (2nd) fractional crystallization (FC) of olivine at mantle or lower crustal depth, leading to the parental magmas of the magmatic series; and (3rd) 40-15% FC of olivine gabbro-norite and olivine monzonite cumulates (400-600 MPa, 15-23 km). The SJCgr shares similarities with post-collisional granitoids and, thus, would represent the last Neoarchean episode of mantle-derived magma in Northeastern Brazil. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although an extensive continental arc magmatism was recorded in the northern North China Craton (NCC) during the Carboniferous, a general geodynamic model has not been constructed, and associated crust–mantle processes are not fully understood. Here, we carried out systematic geochronological and geochemical investigations on the alkali‐feldspar granite pluton in the Zhaojinggou area, northern NCC. U–Pb dating of high‐U–Th zircons failed to obtain concordant ages due to severe metamictization, while apatite U–Pb dating yielded a perfect age of 327.6 ± 4.1 Ma, indicating the emplacement of granites in the Early Carboniferous. The granites have high SiO2 (74.99–76.88 wt%) and K2O (5.73–6.43 wt%) contents and exhibit enriched LREEs, K, Rb, Th, U, and Pb, and depleted Nb, Ta, P, and Ti contents, which are typical of highly fractionated, I‐type high‐K granites formed under a continental arc setting. Moreover, the high‐K granites show highly enriched Nd isotopic compositions (with whole‐rock and apatite εNd(t) of −33.6 to −16.3) that are distinctly lower than other Carboniferous continental arc rocks in the northern NCC (εNd(t) from −18.5 to −9.9). These geochemical characteristics indicate that the high‐K granites possibly originated by partial melting of the Archean TTG gneisses and mafic rocks in the lower crust. Involvement of mantle‐derived fluids is crucial to induce the low‐temperature melting, and sufficient fractional crystallization was reached during subsequent magmatic evolution. Previous studies suggest that the Carboniferous continental arc rocks in the northern NCC have mantle‐derived or crust–mantle mixed sources. Our study, however, indicates that there also exist coeval crust‐derived magmatic rocks in this area. In combination with previous work and this study, we support the hypothesis that the widespread Carboniferous continental arc magmatism in the northern NCC is related to the southward subduction of the Palaeo‐Asian Ocean (PAO), and the different magma sources and extensive crust–mantle interactions are responsible for the formation of diverse types of magmatic rocks with contrasting isotopic compositions. We also draw attention to the fact that phosphate minerals such as apatite may be a preferable chronometer relative to high‐U–Th zircon in a highly fractionated igneous system. A-type granites are typically formed in stable intra-plate, back-arc or postcollisional settings and are characterized by highly ferroan and potassic major element compositions, and by strong enrichment in incompatible trace elements. Unlike I-, S- and M-type granites, where the letters denote the dominant source material (igneous, sedimentary or mantle derived), there is no consensus on the source and processes giving rise to A-type magmas. In this contribution, a conceptual model for the origin of A-type granitoids, using the Bornholm A-type granitoid complex in southern Fennoscandia as an example, is presented. In this model, underplated mantle-derived basaltic magma may develop into intermediate and siliceous A-type magma, which is ferroan, potassic and highly enriched in incompatible trace elements, through a combination of fractional crystallization leading to cumulate formation, and partial melting and crustal assimilation, in a process akin to zone refining in metallurgy. The key factor is a relatively stable tectonic environment (postcollisional, anorogenic, or extensional), where there is little or no replenishment of more primitive basaltic magma to the system, allowing it to attain more evolved, enriched and extreme compositions. The Chakabeishan (CKBS) deposit is the first pegmatite-type Li-Be deposit discovered in the eastern North Qaidam Tectonic Belt (NQTB) of Tibetan Plateau. The correct understanding of its petrogenesis and the precise determination of its formation age are of great significance for further regional prospecting and the discovery of new economically valuable rare-metal deposits. Therefore, a systematic study of texture, major-element composition, and U-Pb dating of columbite-tantalite group minerals (CGMs) in the spodumene pegmatite dyke from the CKBS deposit was undertaken. Three types of CGMs were identified, including concentric oscillatory ferrocolumbite (CGMs-1), homogeneous ferrocolumbite (CGMs-2), and irregular ferrotantalite (minor manganocolumbite) with abundant early ferrocolumbite replacement remnants (CGMs-3). The zoning patterns and chemical compositions in the CGMs record the complex evolutionary history of their host pegmatite from the magmatic stage (CGMs-1, disequilibrium crystallization) to the magmatic-hydrothermal transition stage (CGMs-2, equilibrium crystallization) and then to the late metasomatic stage (CGMs-3, replacement/re-equilibrium). CGMs U-Pb dating results suggest that the spodumene pegmatite dyke (No.15) emplaced at 230.1 ± 2.6 Ma. Subsequently, it experienced fluid metasomatism at 221 ± 5.3 Ma. Based on the new age data and published geochronological data, it can be concluded that the spodumene pegmatite dykes in the CKBS deposit formed in an oceanic subduction-related setting, representing a new metallogenic event in western China. Except for the CKBS deposit, a large number of rare-metal pegmatite dykes have also been discovered in the eastern NQTB, indicating that the eastern NQTB may be an important potential rare-metal metallogenic belt that should be explored in detail and arouse painstaking attention. The Kaimuqi area in the Eastern Kunlun Orogen (EKO) contains many lherzolite, olivine websterite, gabbro and diorite intrusions, and new zircon U–Pb dating, Lu–Hf isotope and whole-rock geochemical data are presented herein to further confirm the Late Triassic mafic–ultramafic magmatism with Cu–Ni mineralization and to discuss the petrogenesis and geodynamic setting. Zircon U–Pb dating shows that the Late Triassic ages, corresponding to 220 Ma and 222 Ma, reveal the mafic–ultramafic and dioritic magmatism in Kaimuqi, respectively. Zircon from gabbro has εHf(t) values of −3.4 to −0.2, with corresponding TDM1 ages of 994–863 Ma. The mafic–ultramafic rocks generally have low SiO2, (Na2O+K2O) and TiO2 contents and high MgO contents and Mg# values. They are relatively enriched in light rare earth elements (LREEs) and large ion lithophile elements (LILEs) and depleted in heavy REEs (HREEs) and high-field-strength elements (HFSEs), indicating that the primary magma was derived from the metasomatized lithospheric mantle. The diorites show sanukitic high-Mg andesite properties (e.g., MgO = 2.78%–3.54%, Mg# = 50–55, Cr = 49.6–60.0 ppm, Sr = 488–512 ppm, Y = 19.6–21.8 ppm, Ba = 583–722 ppm, Sr/Y = 23.5–25.4, K/Rb = 190–202 and Eu/Eu* = 0.73–0.79), with LREEs and LILEs enrichments and HREEs and HFSEs depletions. We suggest that the primary Kaimuqi diorite magma originated from enriched lithospheric mantle that was metasomatized by subduction-derived fluids and sediments. The Kaimuqi mafic–ultramafic and dioritic intrusions, with many other mafic–ultramafic and K-rich granitic/rhyolitic rocks in the EKO, formed in a dynamic extensional setting after the Palaeo-Tethys Ocean closure. Zircon holds crucial information for deciphering the origin of granitic rocks, enabling robust scrutiny of their magmatic evolution. Herein, we report an integrated whole‐rock and zircon U–Pb and Lu–Hf isotope chemistry of Ropp alkaline granites in north‐central Nigeria. The rock units include riebeckite‐biotite granite porphyries (161.1 ± 1.7 Ma), aegirine‐biotite granites (162.4 ± 1.6 Ma), biotite granites (162.3 ± 5.1 Ma), and albite riebeckite granites. They show diagnostic characteristics of ferroan alkaline granites such as high FeOt/(FeOt + MgO), low Y/Nb (<1.2), and high Nb/Y (>1.0). Their zircon Hf isotopic compositions (εHf(t) = −8.08 to −4.38; 176Hf/177Hf = 0.282492–0.282543), major and trace element compositions such as high SiO2 >70% and incompatible trace elements (e.g., Rb, Ba, and La), low ratios of whole rock Th/U, Hf/Ta. Ni/Co and Th/Ta = 2.82, and zircon U/Yb, Gd/Yb, and Th/Yb ratios as well as oxygen fugacity (logfO2 = −26.09 to −12.32) reflect protracted fractional crystallization of a highly reduced mantle‐derived oceanic island basalt (OIB) magma from EM2 with considerable crustal involvement. Magma evolution was fuelled by fractionation of calcic‐pyroxene, calcic‐amphibole, Mg‐olivines, feldspars, titanite, and apatite, as corroborated by the marked depletions of CaO, MgO, TiO2, and P2O5. Intense crustal assimilation, particularly in the biotite granite masked their enriched mantle (EM) ancestry. This is attested by the presence of inherited Pan‐African (ca. 582 Ma) zircon, elevated crustal‐like zircon U/Yb, low zircon Gd/Yb, and Th/Yb ratios as well as high whole‐rock Rb/Nb ratios and relatively low estimated temperatures, which mimic crustal‐derived granites. Reactivation of pre‐existing megashear zones of weaknesses and opening of related transcurrent faults following periodic plate movements generated intense stress field which invoked the release of pressure and hot metasomatic fluids that partially melted the lower EM, giving rise to the Ropp OIB magmas. It is established for the first time that biotite plagiogneisses from the Garevka metamorphic complex of the North Yenisei Ridge have geochemical characteristics of C-type adakites with island-arc melt sources. The Hf isotopic composition of zircons indicates the participation of several sources in the formation of the granite melt, including the juvenile mantle and older crustal rock protoliths with model ages THf(DM)с = 1838–1916 and 1965–2357 Ma, respectively. Based on the results of U–Pb dating of zircons, new pulses of Neoproterozoic endogenous activity at the western margin of the Siberian Craton (913 ± 11 and 915 ± 36 Ma for adakite-like granites and 932 ± 26 Ma for leucogranites), correlating with the Grenville tectonic events, were determined. These Grenville episodes of regional crustal evolution are correlated with the synchronous successions and a similar style of tectonothermal events along the Arctic margin of the supercontinent Rodinia. This confirms the spatial proximity of Siberia and the North Atlantic cratons (Laurentia and Baltica), which is consistent with the proposed Neoproterozoic paleogeographic reconstructions of Rodinia. The Truong Son orogenic belt (TSOB) is one of the most important orogenic belts in the Indochina block. There are numerous mafic to felsic intrusions in the Early Paleozoic caused by the Tethyan orogeny. However, the tectono-magmatic evolution of the TSOB in the Early Paleozoic is still unclear. In this paper, zircon U-Pb dating, whole-rock geochemistry, and the Sr-Nd isotopic data of the Early Paleozoic magmatic rocks have been systematically investigated to explore the petrogenesis and tectonic significance of these rocks in the TSOB. Based on our new results integrated with previous geological data, four major tectono-magmatic episodes are identified. (1) The Middle Cambrian (~507 Ma) is the early stage of northward subduction of the Tamky-Phuoc Son Ocean. (2) The Early Ordovician to Middle Ordovician (483–461 Ma) is the main subduction stage of the Tamky-Phuoc Son Ocean. The intrusive rock associations imply the closure of the Tamky-Phuoc Son Ocean. (3) The Late Ordovician to Early Silurian (461–438 Ma) is the collision stage of the Kontum massif and Truong Son terrane. The large Bayanbaolege Ag polymetallic ore deposit is located in the Tuquan-Linxi Fe (Sn)-Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Nb (Ta) polymetallic metallogenic belt, which is an important part of the Great Xing'an Range metallogenic province, northeast China. The sulfide–quartz vein-type orebodies in the deposit are mainly hosted in the Cretaceous granodiorite porphyry and Late Permian Linxi formation. The U-Pb dating of the zircon from the post-ore diorite porphyrite yields an age of 124.8 ± 1.1 Ma, which constrains the mineralization time at the Early Cretaceous. The Sr-Nd isotope values (87Sr/86Sr)i = 0.708576~0.710536; εNd (t) = −0.51~+0.69; the Hf isotope values 176Hf/177Hf = 0.2827278~0.2830095, the εHf (t) = +3.1~+11.2, TDM2 = 615~1341 Ma of the metallogenic granodiorite porphyry. The Hf isotope values 176Hf/177Hf = 0.2828596~0.2829451, and the εHf (t) = +5.7~+8.8 of the diorite porphyrite, TDM2 = 827~1108 Ma, indicating that the ore-forming materials were the possible involvement of heterogeneous juvenile sources including moderately depleted mantle and newly underplated lower crust. The major and trace elements (including REEs) implied that these intrusions are the I-type granite and linked intimately to the westward subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Ocean plate. From these whole-rock major and trace elements and zircon U-Pb ages, as well as Sr-Nd-Hf isotope data, we conclude that the ore-associated I-type granites in the Bayanbaolege deposit formed in an extensional tectonic setting of the Early Cretaceous, and are compactly related to the retreat of the Paleo-Pacific Ocean subducted plate linked intimately to the westward subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Ocean plate rather than the closure of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean. Furthermore, by integrating geological background work and previous research work, implying the mineralization age of the Bayanbaolege deposit should have been formed in the 125–130 Ma. The East Kunlun Orogenic Belt is located in the western part of the Central Orogenic Belt of China, with a large number of Triassic igneous rocks parallel to the Paleo-Tethys ophiolite belt, which provides a large amount of geological information for the tectonic evolution of the Paleo-Tethys Ocean. The granitoids studied in this paper are located in the Ela Mountain area in the eastern part of the East Kunlun Orogenic Belt. Zircon U-Pb dating results show that these different types of granitoids were crystallized in the Triassic. The 247.5 Ma porphyritic granites from Zairiri (ZRR) displayed calc-alkaline I-type granite affinities, with the zircon εHf(t) values being mainly positive (−0.5 to + 3.8, TDM2 of 1309–1031 Ma), indicating that they are derived from the partial melting of the juvenile crust and mixed with ancient crustal components. The 236.8 Ma Henqionggou (HQG) granodiorites and 237.5 Ma Daheba (DHB) granodiorites are high-K calc-alkaline I-type granite, and both have mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs), showing higher and more varied Mg# (39.73–62.73), combined with their negative Hf isotopes (εHf(t) = −2.6 to −1.6, TDM2 = 1430–1369 Ma), suggesting that their primary magmas were the products of partial melting of the Mesoproterozoic lower crust that mixed with mantle-derived rocks. The 236.4 Ma DHB porphyritic diorites showed characteristics of high-K calc-alkaline I-type granitoids, with moderate SiO2 contents, medium Mg# values (40.41–40.65), with the Hf isotopes (εHf(t) = −2.9 to −0.5; TDM2 = 1451–1298 Ma) indistinguishably relative to contemporaneous host granodiorites and MMEs. The petrographic and geochemical characteristics indicate that the porphyritic diorites are the product of well-mixed magma derived from the Mesoproterozoic lower crust and lithospheric mantle. Based on the results of this paper and previous data, the chronology framework of Late Permian–Triassic magmatic rocks in the eastern part of the East Kunlun Orogenic Belt was constructed, and the magmatic activities in this area were divided into three peak periods, with each peak representing an extensional event in a particular tectonic setting, for example, P1 (slab roll-back in subduction period; 254–246 Ma), P2 (slab break-off in transition period of subduction and collision; 244–232 Ma), P3 (delamination after collision; 230–218 Ma). The genesis of Late Triassic granitoids in the central Qiangtang is significant for deducing the evolution of the Palaeo‐Tethys Ocean in Qiangtang Block. Herein, we present a comprehensive study of zircon U–Pb ages, whole‐rock geochemistry and zircon Lu–Hf isotopes for the mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) and host granodiorites from the Shuanghu area, in order to evaluate their petrogenesis and geodynamic implications. New zircon U–Pb dating show identical formation ages for host granodiorites (207.1 ± 2.2 Ma and 206.6 ± 3.8 Ma) and MMEs (205.4 ± 2.9 Ma and 209.2 ± 2.2 Ma). The Shuanghu granodiorites contain amphibole and biotite and are characterized by moderate SiO2 (64.74–66.40 wt%) and K2O contents (2.48–3.62 wt%) as well as low A/CNK (0.69–1.00), indicating I‐type granite affinity. Its enriched zircon Hf isotopes (εHf(t) = −12.04 to −5.09) indicate that they were derived from the ancient mafic lower crust. The MMEs have a similar mineral assemblage, emplacement ages, trace elemental and zircon Hf isotopic compositions with the host granodiorites, indicating the cognate origin. These MMEs represent autoliths captured by latter ascending host magmas in the middle‐upper magma chamber. The highly variable Mg# (37–53), Cr (16.9–190 ppm) and Ni (5.71–67.2 ppm) in the Shuanghu MMEs and host granodiorites indicate that the mantle‐derived magma provided not only the heat but also the mafic components. In combining with previous studies, we suggest that the Shuanghu granodiorites and MMEs were formed in the post‐collision stage, which were caused by the asthenosphere upwelling related to the slab breakoff. Yanshanian magmatisms are intensive in the eastern Jiangnan orogen and can be divided into early (150–136 Ma) and late (136–120 Ma) stages. About these granitic rocks, the petrogenesis and associated tectonic setting are still hotly debated. The Taiping–Huangshan complex, a representative granitic rock in this region, is selected to perform geochemical studies. Three lithologic units have been identified in the Taiping–Huangshan complex: granodiorite, monzogranite, and alkali‐feldspar granite with zircon U–Pb dating results of 149–144 Ma, 148 Ma, and 135–131 Ma, respectively, belonging to the early stage for the granodiorite and monzogranite, and late stage for the alkali‐feldspar granite. The granodiorite and monzogranite have similar major and trace element characteristics with intermediate‐acidic SiO2 contents ranging from 65.9 to 69.7 wt.%, low Mg# values of 35.8–38.4, enriched LREE, Pb, Th, and U contents, and weak Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.71–0.79). The alkali‐feldspar granite is characterized by high SiO2 contents (73.3–76.6 wt.%), low Mg# (2.6–10.0), enriched Th, U, Ta, Pb, and Nd, depleted high‐field‐strength elements, and pronounced negative Eu anomalies (δEu = 0.01–0.19). The granodiorite and monzogranite have consistent εHf(t) (−5.38 to −9.41) and δ18O (7.18‰ to 11.00‰) values, while the alkali‐feldspar granite has elevated εHf(t) values (−0.96 to −6.48) and δ18O values (6.27‰ to 8.34‰). Integrated geochemical characteristics and batch partial melting modelling constrain that the early stage granitic rocks derived from ca. 8% batch melting of the Neoproterozoic juvenile crust, and the late‐stage granites derived from a similar crust source with a little contribution from mantle. From early to late stage, the tectonic setting translated from post‐orogenic to anorogenic and the later corresponded to a back‐arc extensional setting as increasing of the slab subducted angle of the Palaeo‐Pacific Plate. The subduction of the Pacific Plate led to asthenospheric upwelling and thus partial melting of the metasomatized mantle occurred. The REE-bearing initial alkaline magmas were evolved to generate the subsequent exsolution of carbonate melts and REE-rich hydrothermal fluids which existed at relatively shallow depth. Notably, two kinds of REE mineralization occur in the Weishan REE deposit: 1) quartz–barite–carbonate vein type and 2) disseminated and veinlet type. The Weishan REE deposit is one of the largest LREE deposits in China, which is hosted by the Weishan alkaline complex (WSAC) and late Archean gneisses. Two types of mineralization including vein-type and disseminated-type occur in this deposit, of which the former is characterized by large quartz-sulfate-calcite-REE mineral veins cutting all kinds of wallrocks, while the latter is featured by REE minerals disseminated in the alkaline rocks. The vein-type mineralization commonly occurs at shallow depths and has been numerously studied. The disseminated-type mineralization typically occurs at deeper depths, which was newly discovered by drilling exploration and has been poorly studied. In this contribution, zircon U-Pb dating and Hf isotopic analysis as well as whole-rock geochemistry and Sr-Nd isotopic analyses were conducted on the deeply drilled alkaline rocks, combined with molybdenite Re–Os dating on the disseminated ore, with the aim to unravel the petrogenesis of the alkaline rocks and their contributions to the REE mineralization. Zircon U–Pb dating suggests an intrusive age of 119.9 ± 0.9 Ma for the WSAC, which is quite consistent the Re–Os age of 120.0 ± 1.8 Ma for the disseminated ore, corroborating their close genetic correlation. The studied alkaline rocks show enrichment of LILEs, depletion of HFSEs and strong fractionation between LREEs and HREEs, indicating a crustal involvement in the magmas or a metasomatized mantle source. They are characterized by higher Hf (εHf(t) = -6.7 to −12.2) and Nd (εNd(t) = -8.8 to −9.7) isotopic compositions compared with those of the contemporaneous subcontinental lithospheric mantle (SCLM). Based on the above features, it is inferred that the parental magmas of the WSAC were mainly derived from an enriched SCLM with some involvement of asthenospheric mantle-derived materials. The mantle source was likely metasomatized by the subducted Paleo-Pacific oceanic plate, leading to the enrichment of REE and carbonate. Rollback of the oceanic slab during the early Cretaceous resulted in an extensional setting in the study region, which was favorable for partial melting of the metasomatized mantle and thus generated the REE-rich alkaline magmas. The Tianshui-Sunjiaxia area is located in the connection zone of West Qinling Orogen and North Qilian Orogen, which could provide great insights into the amalgamation processes between the northern and southern blocks of China. Three subduction- and rift-related rocks gneissic granite from North Qilian arc-interarc belt (NQAI) granite and metabasalt from North Qinling back-arc basin (NQBA) are distinguished across the connection zone. The gneissic granite was generated by melts from older crustal materials of Longshan Group with the addition of a relatively juvenile basaltic source from the lower crust during the collision process. The Liwanxincun metabasalt reflects the mixing of the partial melting of the shallow asthenospheric mantle and the metasomatized mantle in a back-arc extension setting. The LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating of gneissic granite (068, 069) yields crystallization ages of 457.0 ± 1.6 Ma and 445.9 ± 2.1 Ma. The study area is divided into six tectonic units in Early Paleozoic time involving NQAI (Yanjiadian-Xinjie) continental arc, interarc rift basin (Maojiamo-Xiwali), continental arc (Chenjiahe-Wangjiacha); NQBA back-arc rift basin (Huluhe-Hongtubao), island arc and ophiolitic melange belt (North Qinling-Shangdan). A tectonic model is proposed in which the NQAI continental arc (Yanjiadian-Xinjie) might represent the early period of subduction of North Qilian Ocean (NQO) and the interarc rift is the product of the extension triggered by southward subduction of NQO. The ongoing subduction of NQO then leads to the formation of Chenjiahe-Wangjiacha continental arc, as well as the Hongtubao back-arc spreading ridge in NQBA back-arc basin (Huluhe). The tectonic evolution of the connection zone is closely associated with the closure of the North Qilian Ocean and North Qinling-Shangdan Ocean in the context of the convergence process of micro-continental blocks, including North China block, Longshan group and North Qinling Terrane. Petrogenesis of the Gaozhuang granitic aplites (GZGA) plays an important role in understanding the regional tectonic evolution and metallogenesis of the Gaozhuang gold deposit (GZGD) in the northern Qinling orogenic belt (NQOB). Here, we present new zircon U–Pb dating on two granitic aplite samples yielding a 25‐zircon grain weighted average age of 129 ± 1 Ma (MSWD = 0.6), suggesting that GZGA formed in the Early Cretaceous. Major element results show that GZGA are: (a) characterized by higher SiO2 and alkali and lower MgO and CaO, belonging to the high‐K calc–alkaline series; (b) enriched in large‐ion lithophile elements and depleted in high‐field‐strength elements, which show negative spider–diagram anomalies of Nb, Ta, P, and Ti; (c) enriched in light rare earth elements and depleted in heavy rare earth elements without obvious Eu negative anomalies and (La/Yb) N ratios ranging from 71.9–107. GZGA compositional variation is controlled mainly by source composition and degree of partial melting and suggests no obvious relationship with fractional crystallization. GZGA samples belongs to the adakite, showing higher Sr (346–528 ppm), lower in Y (4.71–5.67 ppm) and Yb (0.26–0.33 ppm), and Sr/Y ratios of 63.5–93.2, indicating that GZGA originated from partial melting of the thickened lower crust (source depth >50 km) with residual phases of garnet, rutile, and insignificant plagioclase. Results find that GZGA is a product of the Early Cretaceous regional lithosphere delamination, in which Gaozhuang area adakitic aplite magmas and ore‐bearing fluids were discharged nearly simultaneously, and the mixed magma–fluid systems crystallized, forming GZGA and GZGD, while rapidly ascending to the shallow crust along faults. Using GZGA, a prospecting indicator, we infer that the deep part of the GZGD should possess endogenetic Au metallogenic potential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Elashan magmatic belt is located at the eastern margin of the East Kunlun orogenic belt (E‐KOB) in northwestern China, where voluminous magmatism occurred during the Late Permian to Late Triassic. Mid‐Triassic volcanism produced the Xilikete Formation, which shows a geochemistry similar to that of highly fractionated I‐type (HFI) volcanic rocks. These rocks are characterized by high SiO2 (73.82–74.97 wt%), differentiation index (DI; 91.01–94.69), and alkalis (e.g., high K2O + Na2O, with K2O/Na2O ratios greater than 1.0) and by enrichment in some large‐ ion lithophile elements (LILEs; e.g., Rb, K, and Pb) and depletion in other LILEs (e.g., Ba and Sr) as well as some high‐field‐strength elements (HFSEs; e.g., Nb, Ta, and Ti); these features confirm that they are HFI volcanic rocks. Zircon U–Pb ages indicate that the volcanic rocks were emplaced at ~239 Ma. These zircons have εHf(t) values ranging from −2.26 to +0.36, with two‐stage model ages (TDM2) of 1,441–1,221 Ma, indicating a magma source that involved partial melting of Mesoproterozoic lower crust accompanied by a minor juvenile mantle component. The ~240 Ma magmatism in the E‐KOB was probably developed in response to subduction of the Palaeo‐Tethys oceanic plate. Previous studies indicate that a tectonic transformation from subduction to continental collision occurred at ~240 Ma. Combining these data with regional geological observations, we conclude that the Daheba volcanic rocks formed in an active continental margin setting related to the subduction of the Palaeo‐Tethys oceanic plate beneath the E‐KOB. The Kunyushan granitic complex in the Jiaodong Peninsula, East China, is located in the northeast part of the Sulu UHP metamorphic belt. It is the transition belt of the North China Craton and Sulu UHP metamorphic belt. Field relationship and dating results revealed five intrusive phases of the Kunyushan granitic complex were modified into gneissic fine‐grained garnet‐bearing monzogranite (G1), gneissic medium‐ to fine‐grained monzogranite (G2), medium‐ to coarse‐grained monzogranite (G3), medium‐grained monzogranite (G4), and porphyritic coarse‐ to medium‐grained monzogranite (G5). All these phases have similar rock assemblages of peraluminous, calc‐alkaline, I‐type monzogranites. The monzogranites had primitive mantle‐normalized patterns enriched in light rare earth elements (LREE) and lithophile elements (Sr, Ba, and Rb), but depleted in heavy rare earth elements (HREE) and high‐field‐strength elements (Nb, P, and Ti). LA‐ICP‐MS zircon U–Pb dating shows that the crystallization age of the Kunyushan granitic complex extends at least from 157.7–142.0 Ma. The weighted average ages of G1‐G5 were 145.6 ± 1.9 Ma, 145.8 ± 0.5 Ma, 147.2 ± 0.7 Ma, 154.2 ± 0.6 Ma, and 155.0 ± 0.7 Ma, respectively. G5 to G1, from the middle to the edge shows a trend of gradually becoming younger. Zircon grains from different phases have similar 176Hf/177Hf values from 0.281917 to 0.282298, and εHf(t) values from −27.6 to −14.0, with a weighted average of −22.6 ± 0.5, typical of crustal‐derived origin. The corresponding two‐stage model ages TCDM are from 2,910 to 2,066 Ma, with a weighted average of 2,603 ± 31 Ma. Hf–Sr–Nd–Pb isotopes and inherited zircons suggest that the parental magma of the Kunyushan granitic complex was derived from melting of basement rocks of the North China Craton and the Yangtze Craton. The magmatism presumably took place under the background of subduction and back‐arc extension of the Palaeo‐Pacific plate. We infer that the Kunyushan granitic complex was produced by partial melting of the thickened lower crust, through delamination of the thickened lower crust during the Late Jurassic. Unravelling the petrogenesis and stratigraphy of Archean mafic lava flows is essential to our comprehension of the early geodynamic evolution and economic potential of greenstone belts. This study focuses on one of the oldest and thickest sequences of lava flows observed in the Neoarchean Abitibi Subprovince (greenstone belt), that is, the Obatogamau Formation. The undated formation extends for more than 100 km in an E–W direction and consists mostly of aphyric and feldspar megacryst-bearing basaltic-andesite lava flows. These lava flows are tholeiitic, mostly Fe-rich, and have nearly homogeneous chemistry. Petrogenetic modelling carried out using MELTS software points to limited magmatic differentiation as most samples of mafic lava flows did not reach Fe-Ti-oxide saturation. Zircon U-Pb dating establishes a crystallization age of 2726.2 ± 1.6 Ma for a felsic unit located at an intermediate stratigraphic position in the sequence of lava flows. Constraints from stratigraphically overlying volcanic units suggest that the Obatogamau Formation was likely emplaced rapidly, possibly within a few million years and as a consequence of frequent replenishment of shallow magma accumulations. High eruption rates are consistent with short episodes of volcanic quiescence deduced from field observations, indicating non-optimal conditions for volcanogenic massive sulfide systems. The pressure and temperature of peak metamorphism deduced from amphibole chemistry, however, points to favorable conditions for the release of metamorphic fluids. The study area may thus be prospective for orogenic gold mineralization, provided that fluids had access to a source of gold and that structural conduits allowed for the channeling of hydrothermal fluids. Two generations of garnet are recognized in a granite and a pegmatite from the Gangdese orogen in southeastern Tibet on the basis of a combined study of petrography, major and trace element profiles, and garnet O isotopes. Zircon U-Pb dating and Hf-O isotope compositions also help constrain the origin of both granite and pegmatite. The first generation of garnet (Grt-I) occurs as residues in the center of garnet grains, and it represents an early stage of nucleation related to magmatic-hydrothermal fluids. Grt-I is dark in backscattered electron (BSE) images, rich in spessartine, and poor in almandine and grossular. Its chondrite-normalized rare earth element (REE) patterns show obvious negative Eu anomalies and depletion in heavy REE (HREE) relative to middle REE (MREE). The second generation of pegmatite garnet (Grt-II) occurs as rims of euhedral garnets or as patches in Grt-I domains of the pegmatite, and it crystallized after dissolution of the preexisting pegmatite garnet (Grt-I domains) in the presence of the granitic magma. Compared with Grt-I, Grt-II is bright in BSE images, poor in spessartine, and rich in almandine and grossular contents. Its chondrite-normalized REE patterns exhibit obvious negative Eu anomalies but enrichment in HREE relative to MREE. The elevation of grossular and HREE contents for Grt-II relative to Grt-I domains indicate that the granitic magma had higher contents of Ca than the magmatic-hydrothermal fluids. The garnets in the granite, from core to rim, display homogenous profiles in their spessartine, almandine, and pyrope contents but increasing grossular and decreasing REE contents. They are typical of magmatic garnets that crystallized from the granitic magma. Ti-in-zircon temperatures demonstrate that the granite and pegmatite may share the similar temperatures for their crystallization. Grt-II domains in the pegmatite garnet have the same major and trace element compositions as the granite garnet, suggesting that the pegmatite Grt-II domains crystallized from the same granitic magma. Therefore, the pegmatite crystallized at first from early magmatic-hydrothermal fluids, producing small amounts of Grt-I, and the fluids then mixed with the surrounding granitic magma. The U-Pb dating and Hf-O isotope analyses of zircons from the granite and pegmatite yield almost the same U-Pb ages of 77–79 Ma, positive εHf(t) values of 5.6 to 11.9, and δ18O values of 5.2 to 7.1‰. These data indicate that the granite and pegmatite were both derived from reworking of the juvenile crust in the newly accreted continental margin prior to the continental collision in the Cenozoic. The timing of closing of the A'nyemaqen Ocean—the north branch of the Palaeo‐Tethys Ocean—and the subsequent continental collision remain controversial. In this study, detailed geochronological and geochemical analyses of the Baishiya granodiorite porphyries in the Dulan area [eastern segment of the East Kunlun Orogen Belt (EKOB)] were conducted. The LA–ICP–MS zircon U–Pb dating analysis revealed that the Baishiya granodiorite porphyries were emplaced during the Late Triassic (~223 Ma) and possess adakitic features, including relatively high SiO2 (67.2–69.0 wt%), Al2O3 (15.2–15.9 wt%), and Sr (416–540 ppm) contents, low Y (10.5–12.3 ppm) and Yb (1.03–1.38 ppm) contents, and high Sr/Y and La/Yb ratios. They belong to the high‐K calc‐alkaline series and show significant light rare‐earth element enrichment, minor Eu anomalies, HFSE depletion, and LILE enrichment. The porphyries record a narrow range of (87Sr/86Sr)i ratios (0.709067–0.709920) and ɛNd(t) values (−6.84 to −5.27) with two‐stage model ages (TDM2) ranging from 1,426 to 1,554 Ma. These geochemical features imply that the Baishiya granodiorite porphyries originated from the partial melting of the thickened Mesoproterozoic lower crust by mixing with minor mantle‐derived material. Pusangguo is a high‐grade skarn‐type Cu‐dominated polymetallic deposit and the only large‐sized Cu‐Pb‐Zn‐(Co‐Ni) deposit in the Gangdese metallogenic belt (GMB); the magmatic rocks associated with this deposit are poorly documented, and their petrogenesis and geodynamic setting are unclear. To explore these issues, we present zircon U–Pb ages along with Hf isotopic, whole‐rock geochemical, and Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic data for Pusangguo biotite granodiorite (PBG) and Pusangguo diorite porphyrite (PDP) in this deposit. Zircon U–Pb dating for these rocks indicates that they were emplaced during the Miocene (13.6–14.6 Ma). Geochemically, both PBG and PDP show characteristics of adakites, with intermediate SiO2 (65.55–67.30 wt% and 60.56–58.27 wt%, respectively), relatively high Al2O3 (15.28–15.85 wt% and 17.71–16.71 wt%, respectively) and Sr (599–723 ppm and 687–1,616 ppm, respectively) and low Y and Yb. In addition, they show relatively low ratios of (87Sr/86Sr)i and (206Pb/204Pb)i, (207Pb/204Pb)i and (208Pb/204Pb)i and relatively low values of εNd(t) and εHf(t). The Sr‐Nd‐Pb‐Hf isotopes of PBG and PDP are similar to those of the Miocene adakitic rocks associated with the porphyry–skarn deposits in the GMB, indicating that they were predominantly generated by partial melting of the thickened juvenile Lhasa Terrane lower crust and the PDP were likely to be generated through mixing between the magma parental to the PBG and a mafic end‐member. By combining our results with the previously reported results, we suggest that the model of delamination of the overthickened mantle lithosphere of Lhasa Terrane and convective upwelling of mantle asthenosphere which may involve Indian continental lithosphere. The South Altyn Block (SAB), located along the southern margin of the Altyn Tagh in Qaidam Basin, has a significant relationship with the tectonics of the Qaidam Basin basement. This study presents the petrological features, geochemical compositions, and zircon U–Pb and Hf isotope data of four granitic plutons from the eastern segment of the SAB to constrain the petrogenesis and tectonic setting of this region during the Palaeozoic. Basing on previous U–Pb dating results, the zircon U–Pb analysis in this study suggests that Palaeozoic magmatic events can be subdivided into four episodes: Late Cambrian (approximately 502 Ma), Late Ordovician (approximately 444 Ma), Early Devonian, and Middle Permian (approximately 271 Ma). The Palaeozoic granitoids were derived mainly from Neoproterozoic juvenile crustal components, with minor palaeoproterozoic ancient materials. The S‐ and I‐type granitoids in Late Cambrian indicate a compressional tectonic environment with respect to subduction, and A‐type granitoids suggest post‐collision regime. The Late Ordovician granodiorites of A‐type imply typical magmatism within a post‐collision extensional setting. Ascribing to the subduction of Palaeo‐Tethys Ocean during the Devonian, S‐type granites were emplaced in the Early Devonian accompanied with the crust thickening. Geodynamic evolution in the late Paleozoic is significant for understanding the final amalgamation of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). No consensus has yet been reached regarding the late Paleozoic geodynamic evolution of the northern Great Xing'an Range (GXR) in northeastern China, the eastern CAOB. Furthermore, late Paleozoic syenogranite–diabase dyke association is present in the Xiaokele area in northern GXR. It provides an important opportunity to understand the nature of magmatism and the geodynamic evolution during this period. This paper presents new zircon U–Pb ages, zircon Hf isotopic compositions, and geochemical data of whole rocks for Xiaokele syenogranite and diabase. Zircon U–Pb dating suggests that the Xiaokele syenogranite (292.5 ± 0.9 Ma) and diabase (298.3 ± 1.5 Ma) were emplaced during the early Permian. The Xiaokele syenogranites have high SiO2 contents, low MgO contents, and enriched zircon εHf(t) values, suggesting that their primary magma was generated by the partial melting of the juvenile crustal material. The Xiaokele diabases have low SiO2 contents, high MgO contents, are enriched in large-ion lithophile elements, depleted in high-field-strength elements, and exhibit enriched zircon εHf(t) values. They derived from a lithospheric mantle source that had previously been metasomatized by slab-derived fluids. Combined with previous research results, we believe that the continent–continent collision between the Xing'an and Songliao blocks occurred during the late early Carboniferous – early late Carboniferous (330–310 Ma), and the two blocks were transformed into a post-collisional extensional setting during the latest Carboniferous – early Permian. The Hamech area is located in the west of Kuh-e-Shah volcano-plutonic complex, close to the boundary between the Lut Block and Sistan Suture Zone (SSZ), and is composed of monzonite to diorite porphyries and rare gabbro that intruded into older volcanic rocks. U-Pb zircon dating indicates an age of 36.9 ± 1 Ma for gabbro (Late Eocene, Priabonian) and 38.6 ± 0.5 Ma for dacite (Late Eocene, Bartonian). Geochemically, the studied intrusions are dominantly I-type, high-K calc-alkaline, and metaluminous features. Primitive mantle-normalized trace-element spider diagrams of these rocks present enrichment in ion lithophile elements such as Cs, Rb, Ba, K, and Sr and depletion in high field strength elements such as Nb, Ti, Zr, and heavy rare earth elements. Besides, chondritenormalized rare earth elements plots of the rocks show enrichment in light rare earth elements (6.85 < LaN/YbN < 9.72) and a lack or weak negative Eu anomaly (Eu/Eu* = 0.81-1.02). The initial 87Sr/86Sr and 143Nd/144Nd ratios for the rocks from 0.704541 to 0.704880 and from 0.512633 to 0.512691, respectively, when recalculated to an age of 39 Ma. The εNd(i) values vary from +0.87 to +1.99, which fits into a suprasubduction mantle wedge source for the parental melts. All data suggest that the Hamech intrusions developed in a low maturity continental margin arc setting related to the convergence of the Afghan and Lut Blocks and subduction of Sistan oceanic crust during the Eocene. This study presents zircon U–Pb ages and geochemical and Sr–Nd isotopic data for acid granites from the Uliastai continental margin, which is located in the Ulaan Tolgoi area of the south‐eastern Central Asian Orogenic Belt (CAOB). Although most samples have similar calc‐alkaline (K2O/Na2O = 0.55–1.70, average of 1.35) and peraluminous (A/CNK = 1.02–1.20 and A/NK = 1.09–1.87) characteristics, the granodiorites, monzogranites, and alkali feldspar granites exhibit distinct light rare earth element (LREE)/heavy REE (HREE) anomalies, including negative Nb, P, Ti, Sr, and Ba anomalies and negative εNd(t) values. These characteristics indicate that this complex massif comprises lower Early Carboniferous subduction‐related calc‐alkaline granodiorites (348 ± 1 Ma); an upper Early Carboniferous syn‐collisional segment characterized by S‐type, high‐K, calc‐alkaline, and peraluminous monzonitic granites (334 ± 1 Ma); and Late Carboniferous post‐orogenic extensional A2‐type peraluminous alkali feldspar granites (317 ± 1 Ma). Previous studies performed on coeval volcanic rocks and Early Palaeozoic granites in the same area have demonstrated that the Early Carboniferous granodiorites have the same geochemical characteristics as volcanic arc granites (VAGs), thus indicating that the northward subduction of the Hegenshan Ocean may have continued through the Early Carboniferous. The monzogranite and alkali feldspar granites, in conjunction with the Late Carboniferous lagged arc volcanic rocks observed in this area, suggest a syn‐collisional to post‐collisional setting. The new data presented in this study provide constraints on the timing of the transition from island‐arc magmatism to post‐collisional extension‐related magmatism in this region during the later stage of the Early Carboniferous. Only some carbonatite–syenite complexes in the world could form carbonatite-related rare earth element (REE) deposits, which is regarded as the main REE origin. The Miocene Dunkeldik carbonatite–syenite complex is located in the Dunkeldik magmatic field in Tajikistan between the Pamir and Tibetan plateaus. So far, the origin, tectonic setting, and REE mineralization potential of the Dunkeldik carbonatite–syenite complex remain unclear due to the limited isotopic values, which inhibit the further understanding the genesis of such carbonatite complex. This study presents zircon U–Pb age, whole-rock geochemical, and Sr–Nd–Pb isotope, and zircon Hf–O isotope data for the Dunkeldik carbonatite–syenite complex on the Pamir Plateau. Zircon U–Pb dating of syenite yielded two concordant ages of 10.27 ± 0.16 and 10.48 ± 0.21 Ma, indicative of formation in a post-collisional extensional setting related to India–Asia collision. Both the carbonatite and syenite exhibit similar enrichments in large-ion lithophile elements (e.g., Sr and Ba) and light REEs, depletions in high-field-strength elements (e.g., Nb and Ta) and heavy REEs, and small Eu anomalies. Whole-rock Sr–Nd–Pb isotopic compositions are highly enriched, with high (87Sr/86Sr) i (0.70971 to 0.70979), low ε Nd (t) (–8.9 to –9.2), and radiogenic Pb isotope composition (206Pb/204Pb (18.322–18.358), 207Pb/204Pb (15.689–15.695), and 208Pb/204Pb (39.091–39.149)). Zircons Hf-O isotope analyses yield low ε Hf (t) values (–9.5 to –19.0) and high δ18O value (7.4 ‰–9.5 ‰), respectively. These geochemical and isotopic features indicate that the complex was formed by partial melting of enriched lithospheric mantle during the Miocene India–Asia collision and was assimilated by upper crustal material during magma ascent. The carbonatite and syenite in the complex formed by melt immiscibility. The involvement of crustal material in the magma and less development of fenitization may responsible for the limited REE mineralization potential as compared with other large REE deposits that formed during coeval India–Asia collision. Determing the age and precise bulk composition of pegmatites is challenging due to 1) the metamictization of zircon grains and 2) their coarse grain size and heterogeneity. Cassiterite and tourmaline are common in pegmatites and in the case of the former can be used to date pegmatites and while the latter can be used to monitor petrogenesis. This study presents in situ cassiterite U-Pb dating and tourmaline geochemical and B isotopic data from the Nanyangshan Li-Be-Nb-Ta-Rb-Cs-Sn mineralized pegmatite in the North Qinling terrane of China to investigate their age and petrogenesis. The Nanyangshan pegmatite host abundant spodumene, lepidotite, beryl, cassiterite, columbite and tourmaline and can be roughly divided into black tourmaline (Tur B)-cassiterite and pink tourmaline (Tur P)-spodumene bearing phases. Most of the cassiterite are homogenous in appearance although some (<10 %) have core-rim structures. The cassiterite crystals mainly yielded U-Pb ages of ∼ 410 Ma, although the the rims yielded ages of ∼ 370 Ma. Both Tur B and Tur P are rich in Li and are elbaites, with Tur B closer to shorl and Tur P to elbaite. Clear correlations exist between some trace elements (Li and Sn) with major elements (Na/(Na + X □) in the tourmalines, indicating the potential crystal chemical effects on their incorporation. The boron isotopes of the tourmalines vary from −19.36 ‰ to −15.91‰ and decrease from Tur B to Tur P. This implies the boron in the Nanyangshan pegmatite was mainly derived from partial melting of metasedimentary souce rocks with the variation likely caused by fractionation. Tur P is closely associated with spodumene and has higher concentratios of Li, Be, Nb, Ta whereas the Tur B is closely associated with cassiterite and has higher concentrations of Sn, suggesting that tourmaline chemistry could be a reliable geological record of the environment and useful exploration tool. The Yingchengzi gold deposit, located 10 km west of Shalan at the eastern margin of the Zhangguangcai Range, is the only high commercially valuable gold deposit in southern Heilongjiang Province, NE China. This study investigates the chronology and geodynamic mechanisms of igneous activity and metallogenesis within the Yingchengzi gold deposit. New zircon U-Pb data, fluid inclusion 40Ar/39Ar dating, whole-rock geochemistry and Sr-Nd isotopic analysis is presented for the Yingchengzi deposit to constrain its petrogenesis and mineralization. Zircon U-Pb dating of the granite and diabase-porphyrite rocks of the igneous complex yields mean ages of 471.7 ± 5.5 and 434 ± 15 Ma respectively. All samples are high-K calc-alkaline or shoshonite rocks, are enriched in light rare earth elements and large ion lithophile elements, and are depleted in high field strength elements, consistent with the geochemical characteristics of arc-type magmas. The Sr-Nd isotope characteristics indicate that the granite formed by partial melting of the lower crust, including interaction with slab-derived fluids from an underplated basaltic magma. The primary magma of the diabase-porphyrite was likely derived from the metasomatized mantle wedge by subducted slab-derived fluids. Both types of intrusive rocks were closely related to subduction of the ocean plate located between the Songnen-Zhangguangcai Range and Jiamusi massifs. However, fluid inclusion 40Ar/39Ar dating indicates that the Yingchengzi gold deposit formed at ~249 Ma, implying that the mineralization is unrelated to both the granite (~472 Ma) and diabase-porphyrite (~434 Ma) intrusions. Considering the tectonic evolution of the study area and adjacent regions, we propose that the Yingchengzi gold deposit was formed in a late Palaeozoic-Early Triassic continental collision regime following the closure of the Paleo-Asian Ocean. In addition, the Yingchengzi deposit could be classified as a typical orogenic-type gold deposit occuring in convergent plate margins in collisional orogens, and unlikely an intrusion-related gold deposit as reported by previous studies. A systematic study of these deposits provides new insights into the genesis of porphyry Cu–Mo systems in the region. Here we present petrological, geochronological, whole–rock geochemical and isotopic data from the ore-forming rocks in the Sishanlinchang deposit, together with a compilation of data from late Mesozoic porphyry Cu–Mo deposits in NE China, to reveal their magma source, and corresponding geodynamic settings. Zircon U–Pb dating shows that the studied granites were emplaced at 111 Ma, which contrasts with previously reported occurrences of late Jurassic porphyry Cu–Mo deposits in the northern NE China, indicating at least two episodes of porphyry Cu–Mo mineralization during the late Mesozoic. Whole-rock geochemical data show that all of the late Mesozoic ore-forming granites have low Y and Yb, high Sr contents, and high Sr/Y ratios (35.70–71.59), which exhibit an adakitic affinity. High Na 2 O, Cr, and Ni contents, and Mg# (47–58) values, a low proportion of garnet in the source, positive whole-rock ε Nd (t) values (1.21–2.27) and pronounced positive zircon ε Hf (t) values (6.85–9.37) indicate that the adakitic rocks were derived from partial melting of oceanic crust with assimilation of enriched mantle materials. Combined with our studies and previous studies, we conclude that the Early Cretaceous porphyry–epithermal Cu–Mo–Au deposits in the eastern NE China were controlled by the Paleo-Pacific tectonic regime, which is different from the Late Jurassic Cu–Mo deposits in the northern NE China controlled by the Mongol–Okhotsk tectonic regime. The Quanzigou porphyry molybdenum deposit is located in Fengzhen County, Inner Mongolia, China, belonging to the northern margin of the North China Craton. A Yanshanian granitic complex, namely the Hongniangshan complex, is exposed in the deposit, mainly composed of medium–coarse-grained granite, porphyritic granite, and quartz porphyry. The Mo orebodies occur mainly in the porphyritic granite as ore-bearing quartz veins or veinlets. Previous study on molybdenite Re–Os and zircon U–Pb dating suggests that the Hongniangshan complex emplaced during 173–160 Ma and that the Quanzigou Mo deposit formed at ca. 160 Ma. Geochemical analyses in this study show that all these Middle–Late Jurassic granites are peraluminous, high-K calc-alkaline granite, featured by enrichment in Rb, Th, U, Hf, and Zr and depletion of Ba, P, and Ti, with high K 2 O/Na 2 O ratios. Nearly all the samples from the medium–coarse-grained granite and the porphyritic granite show weakly negative Eu anomalies, whereas the negative Eu anomalies of the quartz porphyry are moderate or strong. The Hongniangshan complex has low zircon ε Hf (t) values (−14.4 to − 6.7), old single-stage and two-stage model ages (1099–1471 Ma and 1637–2124 Ma, respectively), and low K-feldspar Pb isotopic compositions (206Pb/204Pb = 17.019–17.590, 207Pb/204Pb = 15.365–15.489, 208Pb/204Pb = 37.002–37.670), with K-feldspar δ18O values of 8.0–10.4‰, suggesting that the granitic complex was predominantly originated from a Paleoproterozoic lower crust source. Geochemical characteristics, combined with results from previous studies, show that the Quanzigou Mo mineralization was closely related to the quartz porphyry. The Middle Jurassic medium–coarse-grained granite was likely formed in the back-arc extension environment triggered by the subduction of the Mongol–Okhotsk Ocean and the Paleo-Pacific plate, and the formation of the Late Jurassic porphyritic granite and the quartz porphyry was controlled by both the post-collisional process of the Mongol–Okhotsk orogenic belt and the coeval subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate. The Taquaral Granite is located on southern Amazon Craton in the region of Corumbá, westernmost part of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), near Brazil-Bolivia frontier. This intrusion of batholitic dimensions is partially covered by sedimentary rocks of the Urucum, Tamengo Bocaina and Pantanal formations and Alluvial Deposits. The rock types are classified as quartz-monzodiorites, granodiorites, quartz-monzonites, monzo and syenogranites. There are two groups of enclaves genetically and compositionally different: one corresponds to mafic xenoliths and the second is identified as felsic microgranular enclave. Two deformation phases are observed: one ductile (F1) and the other brittle (F2). Geochemical data indicate intermediate to acidic composition for these rocks and a medium to high-K, metaluminous to peraluminous calk-alkaline magmatism, suggesting also their emplacement into magmatic arc settings. SHRIMP zircon U-Pb geochronological data of these granites reveals a crystallization age of 1861 ± 5.3 Ma. Whole rock Sm-Nd analyses provided εNd(1,86 Ga) values of -1.48 and -1.28 and TDM model ages of 2.32 and 2.25 Ga, likely indicating a Ryacian crustal source. [Display omitted] • Summaries of Mesozoic intrusions and related Cu-Au deposits in Tongling, eastern China. • Tongling region experienced two stages of magmatic activities corresponding to compressional and extensional settings. • Two stages of magmatism and mineralization are closely related to the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate. • Ore-forming fluids mainly come from magma and are mixed with a small amount of meteoric water. The Tongling ore-cluster region is one of the most important Cu-Au polymetallic producers in the famous Lower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt (LYRMB) in eastern China. The Cu-Au polymetallic ore deposits can be divided into four types, i.e., skarn, strata-bound hydrothermal, porphyry, and cryptobreccia, closely related to the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous magmatism. We summarize the geology of the Mesozoic Cu-Au deposits in Tongling, eastern China, and revisit the age distributions and geochemical characteristics of associated Mesozoic intrusions, by integrating a large number of published geochemical data (including major and trace elements for both early-stage and late-stage intrusions, whole-rock Sr-Nd-Pb isotopes, and zircon U-Pb age and Hf isotopes for early-stage intrusions), to reveal their sources and genesis. According to the U-Pb ages of intrusions, the main magmatic events in the area can be divided into two stages, i.e., 152–135 Ma and 135–124 Ma, respectively. The early-stage magmatism mainly produced Cu-Au mineralization-related dioritic intrusions, including pyroxene diorite-pyroxene monzodiorite, quartz diorite-quartz monzodiorite, and granodiorite, showing unobvious geochronological order. Geochemical data of Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous intrusions from the early-stage magmatism suggest that they are all derived from a similar source composed of different proportions of slab-derived melt, metasomatized lithospheric mantle, and a lesser content of lower crust materials. Among them, the key differences lie in that more lower crust materials are incorporated in the source of intermediate-felsic rocks compared to intermediate-basic rocks. The late-stage magmatism produced a wide variety of rocks (diorite porphyry, syenite porphyry, granite porphyry, monzonite, and granite porphyry), which are related to Pb-Zn deposits. The late-stage igneous rocks may evolve from the early-stage rocks and have experienced fractional crystallization of apatite, ilmenite, and other minerals. Both early and late-stage magmatic events in the Tongling region were formed in the subduction setting, and corresponding to compression and extensional setting, respectively. Besides, the H-O isotopes of different kinds of minerals suggest that the ore-forming fluids of most ore deposits were mainly derived from the magma and mixed with a small amount of meteoric water in the late-stage mineralization. Chuankou tungsten (W) ore field, with an estimated WO3 reserve exceeding 300,000 tonnes, is so far the largest Indosinian (Triassic) granite-related W ore field in South China. However, the precise emplacement ages, sources of granitoids, and their relationship with W mineralization are still not well understood. In this research, four main magmatic stages (G-1 to G-4) have been identified in the Chuankou ore field, including G-1 (phase I, biotite monzogranite), G-2 (phase II, two-mica monzogranite), G-3 (phase III, fine-grained granite), and G-4 (phase IV, granite porphyry). LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating of zircon grains from granitoids of the Chuankou W ore field yields emplacement ages of 230.8 ± 1.6 Ma, 222.1 ± 0.56 Ma, 203.1 ± 1.6 Ma, and 135.5 ± 2.4 Ma, respectively. Granitoids from the Chuankou ore field contain a large amount of peraluminous minerals such as biotite, musvite, garnet and tourmaline. Geochemically, the granitoids have high Si and Al (A/CNK > 1.1) content but low alkali, Fe, Mg, Mn, and Ca content. Moreover, there is enrichment of Rb, Zr, Hf, Th, and U, but depletions of Ba, Sr, P, and Ti. The granitoids have especially low Zr + Nb + Ce + Y and high Rb/Ba ratios, further indicating a highly fractionated S-type granite affinity with a significant crystal fractionation process in regard to K-feldspar, plagioclase, biotite, Ti-bearing minerals (except rutile), zircon, apatite, allanite, and monazite. Whole-rock εNd(t) and TDM2 values are −10.77 and 2090 Ma for G-1, −9.09 to −7.47 and 1764–1684 Ma for G-2, −10.07 to −6.53 and 1669–1471 Ma for G-3, respectively, indicating that the Chuankou granitoids were derived from two episodes of partial melting of the Paleoproterozoic to Mesoproterozoic metamorphic basement. Trace elements within the zircons and whole-rock geochemistry yielded evidence of the close relationship between W mineralization and G-1 and G-2 granitoids of the Chuankou ore field. Abstract: We report zircon U-Pb geochronology, geochemistry and Sr-Nd-Pb isotope data from mafic granulites and garnet amphibolites of the Wuhe Complex in the southeastern margin of the North China Craton (NCC). In combination with previous data, our results demonstrate that these rocks represent fragments of the ancient lower crust, and have features similar to those of the granulite basement in the northern margin of the NCC. A detailed evaluation of the Pb isotope data shows that Pb isotopes cannot effectively distinguish the role of the Yangtze Craton basement from that of the NCC basement with regard to the source and generation of magmas, at least for southeastern NCC. The age data suggest that the protoliths of the granulites or amphibolites in the Wuhe Complex were most likely generated in Neoarchean and that these rocks were subjected to Paleoproterozoic (1.8–1.9 Ga) high-pressure granulite facies metamorphism. This study also shows that the Precambrian metamorphic basement in the southeastern margin of the NCC might have formed in a tectonic setting characterized by a late Neoarchean active continental margin. The Kuruman Kimberlite Province contains the oldest known kimberlites in the Kaapvaal Craton (∼1·6–1·8 Ga), but only limited geochronological and isotopic data exist for this province. To provide better constraints on the sources of the kimberlite magmas and the timing of magmatism, we have carried out in situ U–Pb dating and Sr–Nd isotopic analysis of groundmass perovskite from four of the Kuruman kimberlites (Bathlaros, Elston, Helpmekaar and Zero). We also have measured the Sr-isotope composition of groundmass apatite and carbonate in several of the kimberlites, for comparison with published whole-rock isotopic data. Attempts to date perovskite using in situ laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) were hindered by extensive Pb loss, even in apparently unaltered grains, yielding anomalously young emplacement ages. The assumption of a Mesoproterozoic common-Pb component allows the extraction of intercept ages from the least altered grains (Bathlaros, 1640 ± 13 Ma; Elston, 1663 ± 49 Ma; Helpmekaar, 1638 Ma; Zero, 1845 ± 45 Ma). The smaller sampling volume of secondary ion mass spectrometry and the ability to measure 204Pb, thus allowing more precise common-Pb corrections, produces concordant ages. These reveal that kimberlite intrusion occurred over a time span of ∼200 Myr (Bathlaros, 1647 ± 27 Ma; Zero, 1835 ± 25 Ma), with emplacement ages younging to the east. The results of this study suggest that alteration may disrupt the U–Pb system in perovskite. In situ Sr and Nd isotope analyses [LA-multi-collector (MC)-ICP-MS] of perovskite show a moderate range in values (87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0·70383–0·70507; &varepsilon;Nd(i) = –2·7 to 1·5), but similar mean values among the four kimberlites (87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0·70396–0·70425; &varepsilon;Nd(i) = –0·8 to 0·8). The Nd-isotope compositions of perovskite are similar to those of whole-rock samples of the host kimberlite (&varepsilon;Nd(i) = 1·0 to −3·0), whereas Sr in perovskite and apatite (87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0·70424–0·70427) is more radiogenic than the whole-rock values (87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0·70293–0·70382). However, groundmass carbonates generally yield lower values (87Sr/86Sr(i) = 0·70348–0·70405), closer to those of the kimberlite samples, indicating that the whole-rock Sr isotope compositions are largely controlled by carbonates, probably assimilated from the immediate country rocks. The isotopic data suggest that the Kuruman kimberlite magmas were initially derived from a deeper sub-lithospheric source region, but their distinctive compositional characteristics were imposed through assimilation, first of metasomatized sub-continental lithospheric mantle and later of crustal material, during magma ascent. It has long been shown that central North Sudan with its heterogeneous isotopic composition, unlike neighbouring Archaean cratons and the Neoproterozoic Arabian-Nubian Shield, is part of the Saharan metacratonic crust that was remobilized in the Neoproterozoic. In this paper, we report an Archaean zircon U-Pb age in the Saharan Metacraton that paradoxically does not indicate the presence of an Archaean crust. The second paradox concerns geochemical data that show Archaean tonalite trondhjemite-granodiorite (TTG) features and also post-Archaean granitoid features, yet the rocks are Neoproterozoic. The granitoids studied are from north of Delgo in the Halfa terrane. They are calc-alkaline and meta- to peraluminous and have negative Nb and Ti anomalies. Zircon morphology, cathodoluminescence (CL) and U-Pb age data define four magmatic zircon populations. The oldest is characterized by a 3025 Ma Archaean U-Pb age. The 728 to 702 Ma ages of the second zircon population suggest that the studied area was involved in the Neoproterozoic intraplate magmatism that was induced by the delamination of the thickened asthenospheric mantle due to the first collisional contact between East and West Gondwana. Zircons of the third group yield peak Pan-African orogeny Neoproterozoic ages (630 to 600 Ma) that are identical with titanite age data, and show that the studied rocks were intensely remobilized by the Pan-African tectono-metamorphic regional event. Lastly, the 554 Ma concordant zircon of the fourth population suggests that the area thereafter never again experienced such high temperature and pressure regional orogenic effects. Sr initial values (0.702389-0.704011) and εNd values (+5.05±8.66) indicate juvenile sources with insignificant crustal contribution. Nd TDM ages are Neoproterozoic (917-653 Ma) and identical within error and/or slightly older than the Neoproterozoic zircon ages, confirming the primitive nature of this magmatism. This sets a paradox with the Archaean zircon population in these rocks, implying that this zircon population is xenocrystic and has no bearing to the age of the tract of terrane investigated. These results show that combining zircon U-Pb ages and Nd isotope systematics is a very powerful tool in unequivocally defining the petrogenesis of rocks and geological terranes. In situ zircon U–Pb and Hf-isotopic data have been determined for mafic microgranular enclaves and host granitoids from the Early Cretaceous Gudaoling batholith in the Liaodong Peninsula, NE China, in order to constrain the sources and petrogenesis of granites. The zircon U–Pb age of the enclaves (120 ± 1 Ma) is identical to that of the host monzogranite (120 ± 1 Ma), establishing that the mafic and felsic magmas were coeval. The Hf isotopic composition of the enclaves [ ε Hf( t) = +4.5 to −6.2] is distinct from the host monzogranite [ ε Hf( t) = −15.1 to −25.4], indicating that both depleted mantle and crustal sources contributed to their origin. The depleted mantle component was not previously revealed by geochemical and Nd and Sr isotopic studies, showing that zircon Hf isotopic data can be a powerful geochemical tracer with the potential to provide unique petrogenetic information. Some wall-rock contamination is indicated by inherited zircons with considerably older U–Pb ages and low initial Hf isotopic compositions. Hafnium isotopic variations in Early Cretaceous zircons rule-out simple crystal–liquid fractionation or restite unmixing as the major genetic link between enclaves and host rocks. Instead, mixing of mantle-derived mafic magmas with crustal-derived felsic magmas, coupled with assimilation of wall rocks, is compatible with the data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The South China Block had experienced a significant tectonic transition during the Mesozoic in response to the subduction of the Paleo- and the Pacific Ocean. Large-scale granitic intrusions with massive mineralization are widespread in South China, and their tectonic settings are not defined. The Xitian intrusion is ideal for probing the geodynamic setting and mineralization in South China because they comprise an abundance of microgranular enclaves (MEs) and diverse types of granite associated with mineralization. Age determined by zircon U-Pb dating suggests that the MEs and their host granites are coeval within error, of ca. 152 Ma. The MEs have a similar initial Hf-O isotopic composition as host granites, and the rapid cooling mineral textures indicate that they are autoliths. Geochemical data show that the host granites are high-K, calc-alkaline, and transitional from metaluminous to peraluminous, slightly enriched in light rare earth elements (LREEs) relative to heavy rare earth elements (HREEs), with obvious negative Eu anomalies, belonging to I-type. The Nb/Ta and Zr/Hf ratios indicate the volatile penetrates the magmatic-forming process, and the fluid with abundant volatile could extract metal element effectively from the mantle.
