Novel phosphorous triazatetrabenzocorrole (4) bearing non-peripheral octatrifluorobutoxy groups was successfully synthesized, with an aim to develop potential far-red sensitizer for dye sensitized solar cells. The dye was characterized by ¹H NMR, IR, mass, and UV-vis spectral techniques. It showed excellent solubility in majority of common organic solvents. Aggregation behavior of the dye 4 was investigated in several solvents with increasing dielectric constants. This dye-4 was found to be adsorbed on the nanoporous TiO2 via axial ligation. Further implication of structure of dye due to incorporation of CF3 group on the energy levels was evaluated by theoretical and experimental approaches. The intense far-red absorption of dye 4 including its excellent solubility and proper control of its energy levels makes it a promising candidate for its application as sensitizer in dye sensitized solar cells. Organoalumoxanes containing yttrium oxane groups, hydrolytically stable in air, and soluble in organic solvents have been synthesized for the first time. The composition of the yttrium-containing organoalumoxanes has been determined by H and Al nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, and elemental analysis. Abstract: A series of alkali metal cyclopentadienides, amides, alkoxides and phenoxides was characterized using NMR spectroscopy in deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide. Deuterated dimethyl sulfoxide showed very good stability and solubility for these compounds. Very nice and well resolved spectra were obtained for most compounds tested. The low cost of the solvent makes it possible to use it for the routine characterization of these alkali salts as the ligands in organometallic synthesis. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: The synthesis and characterization of peripherally tetra-biphenyl-4-yl-methoxy substituted metal-free (4), Ni(II) (5), Cu(II) (6), Zn(II) (7), Co(II) (8) and Pb(II) (9) phthalocyanine derivatives are reported. These new phthalocyanine derivatives show the enhanced solubility in organic solvents and they have been characterized by a combination of IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV–vis, mass spectral data, elemental analysis and thermal analysis methods (TG/DTA). The photophysical (fluorescence quantum yield and lifetime) and photochemical (singlet oxygen generation and photodegradation quantum yield) properties of tetra-biphenyl-4-yl-methoxy substituted zinc (II) phthalocyanine derivative (7) are also investigated. The fluorescence of this phthalocyanine derivative (7) is effectively quenched by addition of 1,4-benzoquinone (BQ). [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
