Background/Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in the physical fitness characteristics of Chinese single-handed dinghy and 470 sailors, predict the single-handed dinghy sailors’ physical factors on the performance by equation to guide the training. Methods: The sample of this study consisted of one hundred and sixty-seven Chinese sailors who participated in the 2020 China National Sailing Championships, K Independent Samples Test was used to analyze the differences of different classes sailors, and the performance of Laser and Laser Radial sailors were analyzed by step multivariate linear regression. Results: The results showed that the 470 helmsmen are shorter, lighter and have a lower BMI, 470 crew are similar in height to the single-handed dinghy sailors, but lower in weight and BMI. Laser sailors have better strength and flexibility than the ones of male 470. There is no significant difference in the physical fitness characteristics between the Laser Radial sailors and the female 470 crew, they both had better upper and lower body strength than female 470 helmsmen. The regression equation is possible to explain 65.5% of the performance of the sailors in Laser = 90.963-1.33 × sailing experience-0.461 × bench press-0.018 × cycling peak power out; The regression equation is possible to explain 76.7% of the performance of the sailors in Laser Radial = 27.433-0.391 × sailing experience+0.351 × vertical jump-0.329 × pull-up-0.027 × cycling peak power out. Conclusions: Performance in laser and Laser Radial sailors will be determined by the technique and tactics (sailing experience) as well as physical fitness.

As the use of digital tools and the Internet becomes widespread and easier, the age of use is also decreasing. The decrease in the age of use makes opportunities as well as risks an important factor in digital environments. Children who are not aware of the risks in these environments may be exposed to various risks, especially as the age of Internet usage decreases. Parents are primarily responsible for protecting their children from risks in these environments. Parents can protect their children if they use digital media consciously and safely. In this context, the aim of this study is to investigate the parent’s conscious and safe use of the Internet across Turkey. In accordance with this purpose, the study was designed as a survey study and the data of the study were collected from 9581 parents from 26 provinces with the Conscious and Safe Use of the Internet questionnaire developed by the researchers in the study. Descriptive statistics (%, f, X ̅, SS), t-test for independent samples, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and correlation were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was determined that the parents’ use of the Internet on weekdays and weekends was similar, but this situation differed in children. It has also been determined that the leading situations that worry parents in digital environments are the harmful and illegal content and excessive time spent in these harmful and illegal environments.

This study was an investigation to find out the effect of audiolingual (ALM)-based versus communicative language teaching (CLT)-oriented techniques on Iranian intermediate EFL learners’ listening comprehension ability. To do this, sixty EFL learners in intermediate level from Shokouh Institute in Lahijan, Iran were selected randomly and assigned to two groups; namely the experimental group and control group; 30 participants in each group were selected based on their performance using the oxford placement test (OPT). A quasi-experimental design was used for this study. A listening audio text extracted from the book “Four Corners” was administered as pre-test and post-test. The researchers taught the students of both groups for 10 sessions. The CLT techniques were used as treatment in the experimental group while the control group received no treatment and just used ALM techniques. After 10 sessions, the listening passages extracted from the book “Four Corners” were administered as post-test in order to compare the results of the scores of two groups and decide about the effectiveness of the treatment. Finally, the data were analyzed via running an Independent Samples T-test and a series of Paired Samples T-tests. The results showed that Iranian EFL learners’ listening comprehension skill has been significantly improved as a result of using CLT techniques at the significance level of .05. It was concluded that the use of CLT techniques was highly effective in Iranian learners’ listening comprehension improvement.

Objective The aim of this study was to explore the effect of physical activity and metabolic parameters on irisin levels in patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls. Methods Ninety-six patients with schizophrenia and 63 healthy controls comprised the study population. The participants were separated into three groups: inactive, low activity, and sufficiently active according to International Physical Activity Questionnaire short form (IPAQ-SF). We measured irisin levels using Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. We also calculated exercise levels by using the IPAQ-SF for each individual. The independent samples ttest was used in the data analysis to compare irisin levels according to the activity levels of the patients with schizophrenia and controls. Results The levels of irisin were higher in the healthy controls (p < 0.001) compared to schizophrenia groups. When the activity levels of the schizophrenia and healthy control groups were compared, the irisin levels of the low activity and sufficiently active groups with schizophrenia were found to be lower than those of the low activity and sufficiently active groups in the healthy controls (respectively p = 0.014; p < 0.001). Conclusion Irisin levels could be affected by physical activity and these results must be supported with new studies.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) program and also Autogenic Relaxation (AGR) on improving mood in high jump beginners. The design in this study is a pretest-posttest control group design, which is a design that has a pretest before being given treatment. The participants used were high jump beginner athletes with an average age of 17-20 years. The total participants were 38 people. Then they are randomized and divided into 2 groups (PMR and AGR). A total of 20 samples were in the PMR group and 18 samples were in the AGR group. The results of the study are based on the calculation of independent samples test. It is known that the value of Sig (2-tailed) is 0.000 0.05. So, it can be concluded that the variance of the N-Gain data (%) for the PMR and AGR groups is the same (no difference). In everyday life, the stream of affect results from the interaction between past experiences, expectations and the unfolding of events. How the brain represents the relationship between time and affect has been hardly explored, as it requires modeling the complexity of everyday life in the laboratory setting. Movies condense into hours a multitude of emotional responses, synchronized across subjects and characterized by temporal dynamics alike real-world experiences. Here, we use time-varying intersubject brain synchronization and real-time behavioral reports to test whether connectivity dynamics track changes in affect during movie watching. The results show that polarity and intensity of experiences relate to the connectivity of the default mode and control networks and converge in the right temporoparietal cortex. We validate these results in two experiments including four independent samples, two movies and alternative analysis workflows. Finally, we reveal chronotopic connectivity maps within the temporoparietal and prefrontal cortex, where adjacent areas preferentially encode affect at specific timescales.

This study examines the predictive effect of parental attitudes on high school students’ academic motivation and personal responsibility levels. In this research predictive correlation model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. 368 students attending the 10th grade in 6 different high schools participated in the study. Parental Attitudes Scale, Academic Motivation Scale and Personal Responsibility Scale were used as data collection tools. Independent samples t-test and MANOVA were performed to determine gender effect on parental attitudes, academic motivation and personal responsibility and Pearson Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression were performed to determine the relationship between parental attitudes, academic motivation and personal responsibility. According to the results, parental attitudes are a significant predictor of personal responsibility and academic motivation of high school students. Democratic parental attitude predicts personal responsibility levels by 31.2% and academic motivation level by 25.7%. In this context, it can be said that the support of parents with democratic attitude provides a positive contribution to students’ academic success, social and personal competencies.

This study investigated the effects of instructional and administrative text messages on student academic achievement and sense of learning. Ninety-eight Food, Nutrition, and Wellness students in grades 9th through 12th were involved in this study. In this quasi-experimental study, there was an experimental group and a comparison group. Students in the experimental group received instructional and administrative text messages three times a week for a total of nine weeks. A one-way ANCOVA and independent samples t-test were used for data analyses. The study found a statistically significant difference in academic achievement and sense of learning with students in the experimental group scoring higher as compared to students in the control group. In addition, there was a statistically significant difference with females in the treatment group scoring higher than males in the treatment group.

This study aimed to explore parents' perceptions regarding the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on their children, with and without disabilities, from psychological, academic and social aspects. The study sample comprised 310 parents of children in Saudi Arabia both with and without disabilities. A questionnaire was prepared for the purpose of exploring parents' perspectives toward such impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on psychological, academic and social aspects of their children. Several statistical techniques were applied in order to answer the study questions, such as frequencies, percentages, Cronbach's alpha test, means, standard deviations and independent samples (T) test. The results revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic has serious psychological effects on children, whether they are with or without disabilities. However, from the social and academic aspects, the impacts of the pandemic were generally moderate. Furthermore, no statistically significant differences at level of (α≥0.05) were found between children with and without disabilities. This study emphasized the importance of raising awareness among families on the management of the problems that arise during times of global crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, both consciously and responsibly, by arranging appropriate training courses and workshops for them. © 2021 Eskisehir Osmangazi University. Despite its importance, there is no clear understanding of the impact of small firms’ capabilities (networking, innovation, and marketing) on their export performance. This article attempts to address this issue with a meta-analysis of 74 recent empirical studies comprising 76 independent samples and covering more than 30 countries. We found that innovation, marketing, and networking capabilities positively influence export performance of small firms. However, the context-dependent nature of these relationships demands a more fine-grained examination. The variations in the ES of these relationships are explained by the role of external business environmental factors prevailing in the country of origin of the firm (developing/developed country and individualism/collectivism culture). We examined the divergent results provided by empirical studies using the moderator analysis. The findings of this article shed light on the role of small firms’ capabilities in enhancing export performance in different contextual settings.

In China, rural–urban migration is one of major influences on the mental health of migrant and left-behind children. Literature suggests that the perception of discrimination is an important factor that influences the mental health of these children. The present research explores (1) whether migrant children and left-behind children are different in the relationship between the perception of discrimination and mental health, and (2) whether the relationship between the perception of discrimination and mental health of these children is moderated by gender and age. Using a meta-analytic technique, the authors included 26 studies (generating 48 independent samples) with a total sample size of 28,883 participants. Results showed that the perception of discrimination of migrant children was negatively correlated with positive indicators of mental health, and it has a stronger effect than left-behind children; the perception of discrimination of migrant children was positively correlated with negative indicators of mental health, and it has a weaker effect than left-behind children. Additionally, gender moderated the relationship between the perception of discrimination and the positive indicators of mental health among left-behind children, while age moderated such relationship among migrant children.

This study aims to describe the assertive behavior of male and female students' assertive behavior to reject the invitation to drugs abuse. The population used was the tenth and eleventh graders of Vocational School Student of Bandar Pacitan in the academic year of 2020/2021 with a population of 212 students and samples were taken using saturated sampling techniques. The data collection method used an assertive behavior questionnaire. The validity of the instrument used the product moment formula and its reliability used the Alpha formula. Data analysis used percentage descriptive and quantitative analysis using statistical formula t-test or independent samples t-test. The validity, reliability, and data analysis were assisted by the SPSS 21 for Windows program. The results of the analysis showed that assertive behavior to refuse the invitation to drug abuse by female students was higher with an average of 80.17% compared to male students who obtained an average of 72.68%. The conclusion of this study was that there was a significant difference in the assertive behavior of male and female students to reject the invitation to drugs abuse. Introducción: La caracterización de la técnica deportiva entre atletas de diferentes niveles posibilita perfeccionar a futuro el movimiento motriz especializado, dada la posibilidad de confeccionar metodologías que mejoran el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Objetivo: Caracterizar el movimiento técnico de arranque (snatch) en halterofilia, identificando cuáles son las diferencias existentes entre deportistas de elite y novatas de la Federación Deportiva del Carchi. Métodos: Investigación descriptiva-correlacional, estudiando los Ángulos en cada fase (Posición inicial, Primer halón, Segundo halón, Entrada y Recuperación), el Pico de velocidad máxima estimada en m/s (Primer halón, segundo halón, Entrada y Recuperación) y el Centro de gravedad (Posición inicial, Primer halón, Segundo halón, Entrada y Recuperación), así como la Trayectoria de la barra, en dos muestras independientes del género femenino, categoría 13-18 años (Grupo 1 - Elites: 12 sujetos. Grupo 2 - Novatas: 13 sujetos). Resultados: Se determinaron los valores individuales y las medias de cada variable, no estableciéndose diferencias significativas en todos los datos, excepto en las variables Ángulo del Segundo Halón de la Rodilla (p=0.011) y el Pico de Velocidad Máxima en el Primer Halón (p=0.046). Conclusiones: Se caracteriza biomecánicamente la técnica de snatch en deportistas elites y novatas, recomendando a futuro establecer una investigación mayor de tipo explicativa para analizar metodológicamente las causas y efectos en las diferencias significativas y las pequeñas diferencias detectadas en los rangos promedios obtenidos en la presente investigación.

Objective. The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to compare the masticatory ability subjectively between ball and Cendres+Métaux Locator (CM-LOC) attachment for a single implant retained mandibular overdenture throughout a 24-month follow-up period. Materials and Methods. Eighty completely edentulous patients were recruited. All patients received new complete dentures, and masticatory ability was recorded using a questionnaire (baseline record). All patients received a single implant in the midline of the completely edentulous mandible. After 3-month healing period, patients were randomized using sealed envelopes into two groups: ball or CM-LOC attachment. The same masticatory ability questionnaire was used to record masticatory ability for both groups after 2 weeks of pickup and 3-, 6-, 9-, 12-, and 24-month follow-up. Comparison between the study groups was done using Mann–Whitney U test for independent samples. Two-sided P values less than 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results. The mean masticatory scores improved for both attachments, with no statistically significant difference between them throughout the 24-month follow-up. The CM-LOC attachment group showed a greater improvement change in masticatory ability after 6- and 12-month follow-up (−12.47 ± 12.006, −11.46 ± 14.625; P = 0.826 ), while the ball attachment group showed a slight improvement after the 24-month follow-up (−11.72 ± 12.368, −10.88 ± 11.963; P = 0.778 ). Conclusion. Single implant retained mandibular overdenture improved masticatory ability subjectively with no significant difference between both attachments used although the ball attachment showed better masticatory ability scores after 24-month follow-up.

This study aims to examine the difference in the influence between SE teaching and conventional teaching on student sports orientation using basketball. The research method in this study uses experiment with the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The participants were 48 students of the PJKR study program at STKIP Nahdlatul Ulama Indramayu. The research instrument uses Sport Orientation Questionnaire for students majoring in sports. The research data were analyzed using independent samples t-test. The results of the study concluded that there were differences in the influence between SE teaching and conventional teaching on student sports orientation using basketball. In order to carry out further research using other sports besides basketball and to conduct further investigations at the end of season tournament using SE.

Introduction Age-related declines in multiple facets of sexuality in later life are well documented. However, most studies have been cross-sectional with data collected at one point in time, leaving questions about cohort differences and interrelated historical changes in physical health and psychosocial functioning unanswered. Methods We examined cohort differences in perceived importance and enjoyment of sexuality in late midlife using data from the Longitudinal Aging Study Amsterdam (LASA) obtained 20 years apart, 1992–1993 (N = 718) and 2012–2013 (N = 860), from two independent samples aged 55 to 65 years (both samples: Mage ≈ 60, 52–53% women). Results Later-born adults in late midlife reported attributing slightly higher importance to sexuality than their earlier-born peers and experiencing their sex life as slightly less pleasant. Effect sizes were small at the sample level (d d = .56). When controlling for socio-demographic, physical health, and psychosocial factors, cohort differences in perceived importance of sexuality remained significant, but those for enjoyment did not. Conclusions Late-midlife sexuality undergoes historical changes. Specifically, reported perceived importance of sexuality has increased over historical time, especially in particular population segments. Policy implications We discuss whether our findings represent historical changes in actual behavior, perception, or the willingness to report on one’s sex life.

This qualitative research contributes to the telework research literature by identifying and categorizing employee motives for teleworking. Motives for telework contextualize teleworking behavior, represent proximal telework outcomes, and serve as potential boundary conditions for telework-outcome relationships. Role identity theory (Burke & Tully Social Forces, 55(4), 881-897, 1977) and the uncertainty-reduction hypothesis (Hogg & Terry Academy of Management Review, 25, 121-140, 2000) suggest that motives may be driven by role salience and the ability to meet work and nonwork demands. In this research, we sought to identify a comprehensive list of motives as well as reconcile the wide range of categories and labels given to telework motives in the literature. We asked two independent samples of workers comprised of two subsamples of teleworkers (n1 = 195; n2 = 97) and a subsample of nonteleworkers (n3 = 947) why they telework or would like to telework. A total of 2504 reasons were gathered across the three subsamples. Most respondents reported multiple reasons, especially when encouraged to list all of their reasons. After distinguishing preconditions from motives to telework, ten categories emerged from the qualitative data with “avoid commute” emerging as the most frequently reported motive. Other frequently reported motives included “tend to family demands” and “productivity.” Additional motives are discussed along with implications for telework research and policy development and implementation.

In this study, the effect of ethical consumption on hedonic consumption and compulsive buying behavior was tried to be revealed. For this purpose, data were collected from a total of 564 people over the age of 18 by online sampling method on 25-28 December 2020. It was revealed that the data were firstly distributed normally. In the second stage, Confirmatory Factor Analysis was performed with PLS-SEM and the validity and reliability of the scale were proven. Then, the model was tested with Path Analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was found that Ethical Consumption positively affects Hedonic Consumption by approximately 13%; It was also observed that Hedonic Consumption had a positive effect on Compulsive Buying Behavior by about 69%, but Ethical Consumption had no significant effect on Compulsive Buying Behavior. In addition, it was seen that the model showed good fit according to the model fit scores. In the last stage, the Independent Samples T-Test and One-Way F-test were used to compare the factors according to the participants' gender, marital status, age, education, income, occupation and geographic region. It was observed that the factors differed significantly according to some variables.

As a result of increasing the level of interest in living and living systems (biophilia), it will be possible to educate more protectionist individuals against nature and the environment. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of nature education activities on biophilia levels of science teacher candidates. This research was conducted at public research university in Bayburt, Turkey, in the Department of Science Education during the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. The activities were done in an integrated manner to the Environmental Science course. The study group included a total of 62 science teacher candidates. These students were distributed equally to the experiment and control group. The study was used a quasi-experimental method with a group of experiments and control. In the study, the Biophilia Scale was applied as a data collection tool. Independent samples t-tests and dependent samples t-tests were used for analyzing the data. As a result of the analysis, the findings indicated that nature education and in-class activities positively affected teacher candidates' biophilia levels. The findings also indicated that the knowledge and experience they gained due to students' scrutiny, touching, smelling, and even tasting the species at in-class and nature activities affected their biophilia levels.

O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar mutuamente a autoconfiança e a inteligência cultural de candidatos a professores de educação física e de ciências e literatura. O modelo de estudo transversal quantitativo foi usado no estudo e 320 candidatos a professores participaram voluntariamente. Os participantes foram escolhidos de acordo com o método de amostragem conveniente. Para a coleta de dados, foram utilizados a escala de autoconfiança (AKIN, 2007) e o inventário de inteligência cultural (İLHAN; ÇETIN, 2014). Nas análises das amostras independentes de dados foi utilizado o teste t e o controle de correlação parcial para a variável docente. Como resultado, o presente artigo mostrou que os candidatos a professores de educação física tinham maior autoconfiança e inteligência cultural metacognitiva do que os candidatos a professores de literatura. Por outro lado, os candidatos a professores de ciências e literatura apresentaram níveis mais elevados de inteligência cultural cognitiva e comportamental do que os candidatos a professores de educação física. Autoconfiança e inteligência cultural se correlacionaram.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of online instruction through different mobile applications has become more common in education all over the world. Therefore, this research investigated the potential effects of using WeChat-based online instruction on Iranian EFL learners’ vocabulary knowledge. To achieve this objective, 44 Iranian intermediate subjects were picked out among 67 students based on the findings of the Oxford Quick Placement Test (OQPT). The subjects were then randomly divided into two equal groups: experimental and control. After assigning the subjects to two groups, they were pretested by a vocabulary test. Then, the experimental group received vocabulary instruction using WeChat application, while the control group received a conventional vocabulary instruction. After the instruction, a vocabulary posttest was given to both groups to assess the effectiveness of the treatment. The gathered data were analyzed through independent samples t-test, one-way ANCOVA, and paired samples t-test. The outcomes attained in this research demonstrated that there was a significant difference between the posttests of both groups in favor of the experimental group. Eventually, the conclusions and the pedagogical implications of this study were explicated.

Aim: The main aim of the study is to predict metro water fraud accurately by Recurrent Neural Network Algorithms and compare the prediction accuracy with Convolutional Neural Network. Materials and Methods: In the existing system Convolutional Neural Network algorithm is used and in the proposed system Recurrent Neural Network algorithm is used. CNN with sample size =20 and RNN with sample size =20 was iterated forty times for predicting the accuracy. The algorithms have been implemented and tested over a dataset which consists of 8002 records. Result: After performing the experiment we get mean accuracy of 94.5210 by using Recurrent Neural Network algorithm and we get accuracy of 93.4950 by using Convolutional Neural Network algorithm for metro water fraudulent prediction. PurposeThe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic has caused stress for everyone and impacted the lives of people globally. Such stress increases troubles for the employees. Therefore, the aim of the paper is to identify symptoms of health problems that employees face during the COVID-19 epidemic. Also, the aim of the paper is to examine if there are statistically significant differences in the physical, emotional and behavioral symptoms of health problems among employees before the COVID-19 epidemic and employees during the COVID-19 epidemic.Design/methodology/approachThe research is based on a survey of 950 employees in Slovenian companies. The factor analysis and the t-test for two independent samples were used to test the hypotheses of the research.FindingsThe results show that physical, emotional and behavioral symptoms of health problems of employees during the COVID-19 epidemic are intensified as compared to the before COVID-19 epidemic era.Originality/valueThe results highlight the measures with which companies can reduce the problem of different symptoms of employees during the COVID-19 epidemic. The results can be useful for employers and for managers who want to create an adequate working environment for employees during the COVID-19 epidemic.

This study examined the relationship among learners’ motivation, gender, and completion of MOOCs in Saudi Arabia. Keller’s ARCS motivation model was used as the theoretical framework. In this non-experimental survey study, 238 Saudi learners of MOOCs completed the Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS). Chi-square tests, independent samples t-tests, multiple regression, and logistic regression were used to analyze the data. The findings showed a low dropout rate and a significant relationship between gender and motivation in MOOCs. Also, females indicated higher motivation levels than males. In addition, there was a positive relationship between learners’ motivation and completion of MOOCs.

The article deals the possibilities of using early clinical and anamnestic data for the diagnosis of severe bronchial obstruction in children.The aim of the study was to search for informative indicators that affect the severity of bronchial obstruction against the background of acute respiratory viral infections, and to develop a mathematical predictive model for use at the stages of hospitalization.Materials and methods. The study was based on the examination and observation of 386 children aged 1 month to 5 years who were treated in the respiratory department and the intensive care unit with a diagnosis of bronchial obstruction syndrome. To search for informative indicators, 34 anamnestic signs were studied, including those in mother-child pairs. Comparison of indicators was carried out according to Student's t-test for independent samples and у 2 test to assess categorical differences. To assess the effect of each independent variable on the outcomes of interest, variables reaching P ≤ 0.25 in bivariate analysis were included in a multivariate logistic regression model.Results. Mathematical processing showed that only 1 9 factors were identified as significantly influencing the severity of the disease (p < 0.001), while others were not potential determinants of severity. For the main ones, diagnostic values were calculated and a mathematical forecasting model was built with a high level of reliability — 95%.

Kosmetik memang tidak jauh dari wanita, dan kebanyakan memang membutuhkan riasan seperti alas bedak, bedak, lipstick,blus on, eye liner, mascara dan sebagainya. Saat ini dampak perkembangan kosmetik sangat menjamur oleh karena itu para industri kosmetik harus mampu mempertahankan citra yang baik di mata masyarakat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui perbedaan citra merek antara produk kosmetik Wardah dengan kosmetik La Tulipe di Kota Bima. Didalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan yaitu penelitian komperatif merupakan penelitian yang sifatnya menguraikan tentang keadaan objek penelitian, khususnya pada citra merek produk kosmetik Wardah dan La tulipe. Sampel yang digunakan yaitu 50 responden pengguna kosmetik wardah dan 50 responden pengguna kosmetik La Tulipe. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, dan uji beda independent samples test. El estudio actual es un intento para investigar si los estudiantes se desempeñaron de manera diferente en la prueba de escritura del Sistema Internacional de Evaluación del Idioma Inglés (IELTS) tanto por escrito como en computadora en términos de respuesta/ logro de tareas, coherencia/cohesión, recurso léxico, rango gramatical y precisión. Además, explora si la familiaridad con la computadora de los candidatos era diferente en los grupos por escrito y en computadora. Para este propósito, se seleccionó un total de 108 candidatos de un total de 144 basándose en los resultados de la Prueba de Colocación de Oxford (OPT) en la Universidad de Teherán, Irán. Para recopilar los datos, se administró una muestra de redacción académica ya retirada del IELTS y un cuestionario de familiaridad con la computadora. Los participantes se dividieron en dos grupos iguales. En el grupo de Modo Escrito (PM), a los estudiantes se les dio la prueba para escribir en el modo de papel convencional. En el otro grupo Modo Computadora (CM), los estudiantes recibieron la misma prueba; sin embargo, se les pidió que escribieran la prueba en la computadora que se les proporcionó en su clase. Además, todos los participantes tomaron el cuestionario de familiaridad con la computadora. Los datos recopilados se analizaron mediante la prueba t de muestras independientes. Los hallazgos revelaron diferencias significativas entre el modo escrito y el modo en computadora en ambas tareas de escritura. Además, el análisis del cuestionario mostró el impacto de la familiaridad con la computadora de los candidatos en su desempeño en la escritura.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the changes of surface roughness and hardness of conventional heat-cured (CHC) and CAD/CAM PMMA after immersion in alkaline peroxide chemical denture cleansers (DC), simulating one -year of use. Materials and Methods: 30 specimens of CHC, and another 30 specimens of CAD/CAM PMMA were divided into three groups (n= 10), each were immersed in two commercially available alkaline peroxide DC (Corega tablets and Polident tablets) as well as distilled water (control group). The mean surface roughness (Ra) of the specimens was recorded using contact stylus surface analyzer device. The surface hardness (VHN) was recorded using Vickers micro-hardness tester. T‑test for paired observation and independent samples T-test were used to indicate and compare any changes in Ra and hardness between the baseline and after simulated daily immersion in DC for one-year. Results: The tested DC had no significant effect on the Ra and hardness of CAD/CAM PMMA specimens. But both types of DC produced significant increase in Ra and significant decrease in VHN of the CHC PMMA specimens (P < 0.05). The Ra of the CAD/CAM PMMA specimens was significantly lower and the VHN was significantly higher than that of the CHC PMMA after treatment with DC. Conclusions: Alkaline peroxide DC appears not to affect the Ra and hardness of CAD/CAM PMMA. Alkaline peroxide DC produced negative effect on the Ra and hardness of CHC PMMA. CAD/CAM denture base resins might be considered the material of choice to produce more durable dentures.

Objective. The aim of the study was to assess the changes in the prevalence of hypertension (HTN) among young men according to two screenings of independent samples of an open urban population.Design and methods. The study is based on two cross-sectional studies, over a fifteen year range, among males in the Central Administrative District of Tyumen. Representative samples were formed according to a single protocol from electoral lists among men 25–64 years old by the method of “random numbers” — 1000 people each (250 people each in four decades of life), the response was 79,5 % and 85,0 %, respectively, in the first and second screening. As part of cardiac screenings, the prevalence of HTN, mean values and percentile distribution for systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP, DBP) were determined in two groups of young age 25–34 and 35–44 years.Results. Young men of an open population of a moderately urbanized city of Western Siberia have high blood pressure (BP) levels with a significant increase in average levels and percentile distribution of SBP and DBP in the age range from the third to the fourth decade of life. According to the results of two cross-sectional studies in the range of fifteen years, we found a tendency towards a decrease in SBP and the prevalence of HTN in men in the third decade of life in an open population of a moderately urbanized city of Western Siberia. At the same time, the levels of SBP, DBP and the prevalence of HTN in the fourth decade of life remain stable.Conclusions. We found high levels of BP and the prevalence of HTN among young men in a medium-urbanized city of Western Siberia and a positive fifteen-year dynamics in reduced prevalence of HTN in young people. The latter is a favorable factor and opens up opportunities for targeted impact on other conventional and non-conventional cardiovascular risk factors in this age group.

Deze studie betreft de evaluatie van een publiekscampagne geïnitieerd door het Alzheimer Centrum Limburg. Het doel was inwoners uit de provincie Limburg van middelbare leeftijd bewust te maken van de invloed van een gezonde leefstijl op het verminderen van de kans op dementie. Het campagneteam gebruikte berichten via de massamedia en publieksactiviteiten, ondersteund met een campagnewebsite en mobiele applicatie (MijnBreincoach app). De gemeentes Roermond, Landgraaf en Brunssum voerden aanvullend een wijkgerichte campagne, waarbij lokale belanghebbenden werden betrokken bij de vormgeving en uitvoering. De campagne is geëvalueerd door middel van twee onafhankelijke steekproeven pre- en post-campagne. Op populatieniveau werd geen pre-post verschil geobserveerd in mate van bewustwording van het verminderen van het risico op dementie. In een aanvullende analyse bleek dat de groep mensen die na afloop van de campagne aangaven met de campagne in aanraking te zijn gekomen, zich meer bewust waren van het verminderen van het risico op dementie en vaker gemotiveerd rapporteerden te zijn voor gedragsverandering dan de groep mensen die niet in aanraking waren gekomen met de campagne. De wijkgerichte aanpak resulteerde in meer herkenning van campagnemateriaal en de mobiele applicatie. Gezonde voeding en fysieke activiteit werden vaker herkend na afloop van de campagne. Mentale activiteit werd zowel voor- als na de campagne het vaakst herkend als beschermend tegen dementie maar een toename werd niet geobserveerd na de campagne.

Aim: The main aim of the study proposed is to perform higher classification of fake political news by implementing fake news detectors using machine learning classifiers by comparing their performance. Materials and Methods: By considering two groups such as Decision Tree algorithm and Naive Bayes algorithm. This study examined human flavor perception and discrimination of powdered milk samples with various fat contents using two different sensory discrimination methods, DR A-Not A and 3-AFC. DR A-Not A was expected to be more effective. Using skim milk and whole milk powder, five different samples with various fat contents were prepared. An independent samples design was used to compare DR A-Not A and 3-AFC. Each subject performed 24 repeated tests consisting of comparisons of four different test samples from the reference sample. Signal detection d′ results showed that sample discrimination was possible using DR A-Not A, but not 3-AFC. Moreover, the just noticeable difference (JND) was calculated using the results of DR A-Not A. The calculated JND was 0.47% (w/v), and the Weber fraction was 0.82. These results confirm that the DR A-Not A method is more effective for studying the human sensitivity to the fat content in food.

The population consisted of an experimental group of 41 people and a control group of 41 people. The experimental group had the midwifery update training in 2019, while the control group was midwives who had never attended midwifery update training in 2019. The experimental group and the control group were selected by using cluster sampling technique after that the sample selection used simple random sampling. Data analysis was used independent samples t -test. The mean knowledge results of the midwifery update group that had never attended midwifery update training was 55.11, while the mean knowledge results of the midwifery update group knowledge was 75.19. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Head and neck paragangliomas have been reported to be associated with mutations of the succinate dehydrogenase enzyme family. The aim of this study was to assess whether radiologic features could differentiate between paragangliomas in the head and neck positive and negative for the succinate dehydrogenase mutation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This single-center retrospective review from January 2015 to January 2020 included 40 patients with 48 paragangliomas (30 tumors positive for succinate dehydrogenase mutation in 23 patients and 18 tumors negative for the succinate dehydrogenase mutation in 17 patients). ADC values and tumor characteristics on CT and MR imaging were evaluated by 2 radiologists. Differences between the 2 cohorts in the diagnostic performance of ADC and normalized ADC (ratio to ADC in the medulla oblongata) values were evaluated using the independent samples t test. Aim: To compare the effectiveness of two preparation systems and two irrigation techniques in calcium hydroxide removal from straight root canals. Methodology: Forty-four mandibular premolar teeth were included in this study. The teeth were filled with a calcium hydroxide-based paste and randomly divided into two different preparation groups (Reciproc 50 (R50; VDW, Munich, Germany and ProTaper Universal F5 (PTU; Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland). Subsequently, the groups were divided into two subgroups and irrigated using EDDY (VDW, Munich, Germany) and CanalBrush (CB; Roeko, Langenau, Germany) irrigation activation systems. The percentage of calcium hydroxide removed from the canal walls was analyzed using a dental operating microscope (DOM) at 25× magnification. An independent samples t-test, a Mann–Whitney U, Wilcoxon’s tests were used for statistical analysis. Results: There was no significant difference in calcium hydroxide removal throughout the root canal using the R50 and PTU F5 preparation systems (P = 0.847). Both activation systems significantly increased the amount of calcium hydroxide removed from the root canal. Conclusions: EDDY and CB significantly improved calcium hydroxide removal. This study explored the effect of PowerPoint integration on students’ motivation and achievement in less endowed Senior High Schools (SHSs). The study employed the embedded mixed method approach involving quasi-experimental design in which 80 students were randomly selected from two government-assisted Senior High Schools and assigned to control and experimental groups. Teacher-made Pre- and Post-Geometry Achievement Tests (GAT) and semi-structured interviews were used to collect quantitative and qualitative data respectively. During treatment, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was integrated using PowerPoint presentation to teach the experimental group while the control group was taught by conventional instruction approach. Both pre-GAT and post-GAT were administered to participants and their responds were scored to obtain quantitative data. Descriptive statistics and independent samples t-test were used to analyze the GAT scores while the qualitative data were thematically analyzed. The results showed that participants in both groups had improved in their post-GAT compared to their pre-GAT. However, it was revealed that study participants in the experimental group achieved better in the post-GAT than those in the control group. It was also revealed that there was no influence of gender in the achievement of the group taught by PPT presentation. Finally, the findings revealed that ICT integration promotes students’ motivation. In conclusion, ICT integration approach to teaching and learning mathematics concepts was found to promote students’ motivation and increased achievement in mathematics than the conventional instruction. The implications for practice and research are discussed.

BACKGROUND: Law enforcement agencies often include fitness testing as part of the hiring process. However, it can be months from this testing to when a recruit starts academy. OBJECTIVE: To determine fitness changes from hiring to academy in recruits who graduate (GRAD) or separate (SEP; do not complete) from academy. METHODS: Analysis on recruits from one agency, split into GRAD (n = 436) and SEP (n = 78) groups, was conducted. These tests were conducted during initial hiring and academy: push-ups, sit-ups, and arm ergometer revolutions in 60 s; 75-yard pursuit run (75PR); and 2.4 km run. Data were analyzed via a two-way repeated measures ANOVA. Change scores were derived between hiring and academy data for both groups, and analyzed via independent samples t-tests. RESULTS: Push-ups, 75PR, arm ergometer, and 2.4 km run generally improved (p≤0.001). There were no significant between-group interactions or differences in performance changes for GRAD and SEP recruits. SEP recruits tended to have lesser fitness test performance compared to GRAD recruits. CONCLUSIONS: GRAD and SEP recruits showed some fitness improvements between initial hiring through to academy. However, SEP recruits with lesser muscular endurance, running speed, and aerobic capacity during hiring did not substantially improve by academy, which likely impacted their academy survivability.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: SWI hypointense cerebral lesions have been reported in adults with the inherited cerebellar neurodegenerative disorder ataxia telangiectasia. This study aims to establish the prevalence, age-dependency, and spatial distribution of these lesions in children and young people with ataxia telangiectasia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Participants with classic ataxia telangiectasia and matched controls underwent SWI acquisition at 3T at 1 or 2 time points. SWI hypointense lesions were manually labeled according to the Microbleed Anatomical Rating Scale. Differences in prevalence of lesion number between groups with ataxia telangiectasia and without ataxia telangiectasia were tested with the Fisher exact test, and differences in age between participants with ataxia telangiectasia with and without lesions were tested using independent samples from the Mann-Whitney U test. The relationship between age and lesion number was modeled as an exponential function. RESULTS: Analyzable SWI datasets from 17 participants with ataxia telangiectasia (with median age at first scan of 12.4 years; range, 4.6–20.2 years; 8 [47%] were female) and 22 matched healthy controls showed prevalence of SWI hypointense lesions in 41% of participants with ataxia telangiectasia and 0% in controls (P = .001, the Fisher exact test). Lesions were exclusively supratentorial and predominantly lobar. Participants with ataxia telangiectasia with SWI hypointense lesions were older than those without (median age was 15.2 years versus 9.3 years, U = 10.5, P = .014). An exponential curve described the relationship between age and lesion number (R2 = 0.67). CONCLUSIONS: SWI hypointense lesions are common in children and young people with ataxia telangiectasia, accumulating from 12 years of age onward. In contrast to cerebellar-dominant neurodegeneration in ataxia telangiectasia, SWI hypointense lesions were exclusively supratentorial. Further investigation is needed to establish the clinical relevance of these imaging-detected lesions.

OBJECTIVE To compare the recurrence rate of entropion via subciliary route and transconjunctival route in combined lateral tarsal strip with retractor advancement procedure for involutional entropion correction. STUDY DESIGN Quasi-experimental study. PLACE AND DURATION OF STUDY Department of Eye, Combined Military Hospital, Jhelum Cantt, Pakistan from March 2018 to November 2020. METHODOLOGY Seventy-eight eyes of 78 patients with entropion were randomly divided into two groups of 39 each. One group underwent a lateral tarsal strip procedure combined with retractor advancement through the subciliary approach; and the second group underwent the same procedure through the transconjunctival approach. A strip of preseptal orbicularis was excised in every case. Recurrence rate of entropion was recorded in both groups at six-month postoperation. Duration of surgery was recorded in each case. Fisher's Exact test was selected to compare the recurrence rate of entropion and independent samples 't' test was elected for comparing duration of surgery among the two groups. RESULTS The recurrence rate of entropion with transconjunctival route repair was statistically not significant compared with the subciliary route repair (p>0.999). This research aimed to prepare an online electronic program based on logo counseling to improve the psychological immunity of blind children’s mothers. This program was applied on a sample of sixty of blind children’s mothers in Cairo governorate. The necessary tools were built to be used in achieving the desired goals, which are represented in the online electronic psychological immunity scale of blind children’s mothers(the researcher's preparation), an online electronic program based on logo counseling to improve the psychological immunity blind children’s mothers(the researcher's preparation) and a user guide for this program(the researcher's preparation). The experimental approach was used for the experimental and control groups, and the researcher used statistical methods(mean, multiple regression analysis, path analysis, T-test to determine if there is a significant difference between the dependent and the independent samples, Pearson correlation coefficient, Kronbach's alpha stability factor). Restults of appling this reasearch is summerized as the following: There are statistically significant differences between the means of the post measurment scores for the control and experimental groups respect to the psychological immunity scale for blind children’s mothers in fevor of the expremental group. There are no statistically significant differences between the means of post and follow up measurment scores respect to the psychological immunity scale for blind children’s mothers in fevor of the follow up measurment.

Project-Based Research Learning (PBRL) is one of the learn-ing models that stimulate students to be active and innovative in developing products. The purposes of this study were to determine 1) the influence of the PBRL integrated with e-learning on students' spatial thinking ability, 2) the influence of the PBRL integrated with e-learning on the students' ability to make disaster management projects, and 3) the influence of the PBRL in-tegrated with e-learning on learning outcomes. The data analysis was used independent samples t-test from six essay questions and grading rubrics measurement. The results showed 1) a significant influence of the PBRL in-tegrated with e-learning on students spatial thinking ability, 2) an influence of the PBRL integrated with e-learning on the students' ability to make dis-aster management projects, and 3) a significant influence of the PBRL inte-grated with e-learning on learning outcomes. The learning model is also ef-fective as an alternative for distance learning.

Abstract: This study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of the Blackboard system in decreasing the mind wandering and academic procrastination among students of the Faculty of Education through answering the following main question: how can we build an electronic course using the blackboard system to reduce mind wandering and academic procrastination among students of the Faculty of Education? To answer this question, the researcher verified the psychometric properties of the study tools on a sample comprised (100) female students at the Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, while the basic study sample that was chosen to administrate the study tools comprised (100) participants who were divided into (50)students who were taught the Learning Theories Course at the Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University as an experimental group, and (50) students who were taught the Learning Theories Couse at El Minia University, Egypt as a control group. For data collection, the researchers utilized the mind wandering scale, the academic procrastination scale, and the electronic course. For data processing, the researchers utilized a t-test for independent samples. Results of the study indicated the following: There were statistically significant differences at the level of 0.01 between the means of the scores of the control group and the experimental group in the post-application of mind wandering scale dimensions in favor of the control group. There were statistically significant differences at level 0.01 between the means scores of the control group and the experimental group in the post-application of the academic procrastination scale dimensions in favor of the control group. The study concluded with some recommendations.

The present study examined how the Egyptian EFL students competently use the FL discourse markers. In other words, how the Egyptian EFL learners can properly differentiate between the syntactic and textual functions of such markers. Data were collected through the instruments of pretest and posttest. Eighty Egyptian EFL students enrolled at the Department of Languages and Translation, Higher Institute for Specific Studies, Haram participated in the present study. They were divided into a control group and an experimental group with forty participants each. The experimental group participants were taught the syntactic and textual functions of the FL discourse markers. Data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The Paired Samples T-Test and the Independent Samples T-Test indicated statistically significant improvement of the experimental group participants’ use of FL discourse markers over their control group counterparts. The present study emphasized the importance of adopting the pedagogically-oriented linguistics perspective in teaching FL discourse markers to the Egyptian EFL learners.

Psychological and pedagogical expertise is part of divorce proceedings. It is intended to resolve custody disputes and diagnose the emotional status of the child by various projective methods. The research objective was to identify effective projective referents of emotional instability and conflict in 63 children going through a custody trial. The control group included 56 children. The subjects were asked to draw a non-existent animal with crayons. The parameters evaluated on a dichotomous scale included: crosshatching, sketching, erasing and correcting, strong pressure, wounds or scars on the animal's body, weak legs, two or more heads, brightness and polychromy. The φ*-Fischer angular transformation criterion was used to compare the frequency in two independent samples and to assess the reliability of the differences. If the imaginary creature had two heads, it was a sign with a high differentiating power, which indicated an internal conflict and emotional contradiction in the child and, as a result, psychological instability. The polychromic pattern also proved different: the children in the experimental group appeared less likely to use color, which may indicate their low energy tone and depressed emotional state. Imaginary creatures on weak legs also proved more common in the experimental group, suggesting the children were going through an unbalanced state. Other parameters were quite rare in both groups.

This research analyzes attitudes towards pornography on the basis of the perception of individuals for gender roles and attitudes of hostility towards men. 671 participants, 400 women and 271 men participated in the study by the web. Attitudes toward Pornography Scale were used to measure attitudes towards pornography, Gender Roles Attitude Scale was used to measure attitudes towards gender roles. The Hostility toward Men subscale of Ambivalence toward Men Inventory were used to measure attitudes hostility toward men. According to independent samples t-test findings, mens attitudes towards pornography were more positive than womens. Gender role attitudes and attitudes toward pornography were found to be significantly correlated. In the moderated regression analyzes, it was found that sex has no moderate effects on gender role attitudes and attitudes toward pornography. Hostility toward men has moderate effects on the relation between gender role attitudes and attitudes toward pornography for both women and men. Findings are interpreted as sexist violence, which is thought to be involved, affects attitudes towards pornography at different levels.

The aim of the research presented in the paper is the empirical study of the semantic attitudes and life meanings of students in the perception of advertising posters. Advertising impact is viewed as a process of broadcasting the meanings concentrated in advertising posters. The study sample consisted of 80 students from two universities (Rostov-on-Don, Russia). To determine the severity of life meanings, the method of life meanings was used by V.Yu. Kotlyakov (V.Yu. Kotlyakov, 2003), the method of expert assessments was used to study advertising posters. The results were processed using the methods of mathematical statistics: descriptive statistics were used; as well as nonparametric tests for comparing several independent samples, the Kruskal-Wallis H-test, for studying the relationships between the scales of V.Yu. Kotlyakov and the assessment of advertising posters by the respondents used the Spearmans rank correlation coefficient. It was shown that in the process of broadcasting meanings in advertising posters, students semantic attitudes are actualized. The sample of students showed a tendency to evaluate advertising posters in accordance with the dominant meanings of life. A growing number of large-scale studies suggest that people with disabilities are at greater risk of sexual victimization than nondisabled individuals. However, certain results are inconsistent and whether potential moderators explain this variability in previous findings remain to be considered. This meta-analysis aimed to determine the magnitude of the difference in risk of being sexually victimized based on the presence of a disability. An additional objective was to evaluate the relative influence of gender, age, type of disability, type of sexual violence, and relationship with the perpetrator on the association between the presence of a disability and sexual victimization. Studies were searched using pertinent databases and retained if they included a group with a disability, provided data that quantify the occurrence of abuse, indicated the type of sexual violence, and was published between 1970 and 2018 in French or English. A total of 68 studies, allowing 84 independent samples and 12,427 participants, were included. Individuals with disabilities were at significantly higher risk of sexual victimization than persons without disabilities (odds ratio = 2.27). The risk of sexual victimization among individuals with a disability was significantly higher in adult participants compared with the risk in minor participants. Sensory impairment was the type of disability associated with the highest risk of sexual victimization. Odds of sexual victimization among individuals with a disability were significantly higher in African countries compared with all others, and odds in Western Europe were significantly lower than in the United States. No significant differences emerged across eras.
