Let D(G) and A(G), respectively, be the diagonal matrix of vertex de- grees and the adjacency matrix of a connected graph G. The generalized adjacency matrix of G is defined as Aα(G) = αD(G) + (1 − α)A(G), α ∈ [0, 1]. The spread of the generalized adjacency matrix, denoted by S(Aα(G)), is defined as the difference of the largest and smallest eigenvalues of Aα(G). The spread S(Q(G)) of Q(G), the signless Laplacian matrix of G and S(A(G)) of A(G) are similarly defined. In this paper, we establish the relationships between S(Aα(G)), S(Q(G)) and S(A(G)). Further, we find bounds for S(Aα(G)) involving different parameters of G. Abstract In this paper we introduce a new graph matrix, named the anti-adjacency matrix or eccentricity matrix, which is constructed from the distance matrix of a graph by keeping for each row and each column only the largest distances. This matrix can be interpreted as the opposite of the adjacency matrix, which is instead constructed from the distance matrix of a graph by keeping for each row and each column only the distances equal to 1. We show that the eccentricity matrix of trees is irreducible, and we investigate the relations between the eigenvalues of the adjacency and eccentricity matrices. Finally, we give some applications of this new matrix in terms of molecular descriptors, and we conclude by proposing some further research problems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: A threshold graph on n vertices is coded by a binary string of length . We obtain a formula for the inertia of (the adjacency matrix of) a threshold graph in terms of the code of the graph. It is shown that the number of negative eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of a threshold graph is the number of ones in the code, whereas the nullity is given by the number of zeros in the code that are preceded by either a zero or a blank. A formula for the determinant of the adjacency matrix of a generalized threshold graph and the inverse, when it exists, of the adjacency matrix of a threshold graph are obtained. We extend the notion of balance from the realm of signed and gain graphs to conjugate skew gain graphs which are skew gain graphs where the labels on the oriented edges get conjugated when we reverse the orientation. We characterize the balance in a conjugate skew gain graph in several ways especially by dealing with its adjacency matrix and the g -Laplacian matrix. Abstract: Let be an unweighted rooted tree of k levels such that in each level the vertices have equal degree. Let d k−j+1 denotes the degree of the vertices in the level j. We find the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix and of the Laplacian matrix of . They are the eigenvalues of principal submatrices of two nonnegative symmetric tridiagonal matrices of order k × k. The codiagonal entries for both matrices are , and , while the diagonal entries are zeros, in the case of the adjacency matrix, and d j , 1⩽ j ⩽k, in the case of the Laplacian matrix. Abstract: Let be the smallest number such that the adjacency matrix of any undirected graph with vertices or more has at least nonpositive eigenvalues. We show that is well-defined and prove that the values of for are 1, 3, 6, 10, 16 respectively. In addition, we prove that for all , , in which is the Ramsey number for and , and is the triangular number. In this article, we discuss the spectral properties of the general extended adjacency matrix for chain graphs. In particular, we discuss the eigenvalues of the general extended adjacency matrix of the chain graphs and obtain its general extended adjacency inertia. We obtain bounds for the largest and the smallest general extended adjacency eigenvalues and characterize the extremal graphs. We also obtain a lower bound for the spread of the general extended adjacency matrix. We characterize chain graphs with all the general extended adjacency eigenvalues being simple and chain graphs that are non-singular under the general extended adjacency matrix. Further, we determine the explicit formula for the determinant and the trace of the square of the general extended adjacency matrix of chain graphs. Let A(G) be the adjacency matrix of a simple connected undirected graph G. A graph G of order n is said to be non-singular (respectively singular) if A(G) is non-singular (respectively singular). The spectrum of a graph G is the set of all its eigenvalues denoted by spec(G). The antireciprocal (respectively reciprocal) eigenvalue property for a graph G can be defined as "Let G be a non-singular graph G if the negative reciprocal (respectively positive reciprocal) of each eigenvalue is likewise an eigenvalue of G, then G has anti-reciprocal (respectively reciprocal) eigenvalue property." Abstract: Let G =(V, E) be a simple graph and {λ 1(G),…, λ n (G)} be its adjacency spectrum. It is easy to see that if an edge is added between two isolated vertices, then one zero eigenvalue increases by 1, and another zero eigenvalue decreases by 1. Let G + be a connected graph obtained from G by adding an edge e ∉ E(G). In this paper, it will be proved that the spectrum of G + is different from that of G only in two places with one eigenvalue increases by m and another eigenvalue decreases by m, where m >0 is a rational number, if and only if G is an empty graph with order 2. It will also be proved that one cannot construct a new adjacency integral connected graph with order n ⩾3 from a known one by adding an edge. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

For a graph $G$ the degree sum adjacency matrix $DS_A(G)$ is defined as a matrix, in which every element is sum of the degrees of the vertices if and only if the corresponding vertices are adjacent, otherwise it is zero. In this paper we obtain the bounds for the spectral radius and partial sum of the eigenvalues of the $DS_A$ matrix. We also find the bounds for the $DS_A$ energy of a graph in terms of its Zagreb indices.

In the paper, we introduce the signless Laplacian A B C -matrix Q ̃ (G) = D ¯ (G) + A ̃ (G) , where D ¯ (G) is the diagonal matrix of A B C -degrees and A ̃ (G) is the A B C -matrix of G. The eigenvalues of the matrix Q ̃ (G) are the signless Laplacian A B C -eigenvalues of G. We give some basic properties of the matrix Q ̃ (G) , which includes relating independence number and clique number with signless Laplacian A B C -eigenvalues. For bipartite graphs, we show that the signless Laplacian A B C -spectrum and the Laplacian A B C -spectrum are the same. We characterize the graphs with exactly two distinct signless Laplacian A B C -eigenvalues. Also, we consider the problem of the characterization of the graphs with exactly three distinct signless Laplacian A B C -eigenvalues and solve it for bipartite graphs and, in some cases, for non-bipartite graphs. We also introduce the concept of the trace norm of the matrix Q ̃ (G) − t r (Q ̃ (G)) n I , called the signless Laplacian A B C -energy of G. We obtain some upper and lower bounds for signless Laplacian A B C -energy and characterize the extremal graphs attaining it. Further, for graphs of order at most 6, we compare the signless Laplacian energy and the A B C -energy with the signless Laplacian A B C -energy and found that the latter behaves well, as there is a single pair of graphs with the same signless Laplacian A B C -energy unlike the 26 pairs of graphs with same signless Laplacian energy and eight pairs of graphs with the same A B C -energy. Let J(λ;n1,…,nk) be the set of matrices A such that λ is an eigenvalue of A and n1⩽⋯⩽nk are the sizes of the Jordan blocks associated with λ. For a given index v of A, denote by A−v the principal submatrix of co-order one obtained from A by deleting the vth row and column. In the present paper, all possible changes of the part of the Jordan form corresponding to λ under the transition from A to A−v are determined for matrices A∈J(λ;n1,…,nk) such that for the eigenvalue λ of both A and A⊤, there exists a Jordan chain of the largest length nk whose eigenvector has nonzero vth entry. In particular, it is shown that for almost every matrix A∈J(λ;n1,…,nk), n1,…,nk−1 are the sizes of Jordan blocks for λ considered as an eigenvalue of A−v. Moreover, it is also proved that if A is the adjacency matrix of a vertex-transitive digraph and k⩾2, then the change n1,…,nk→n1,…,nk−2,2nk−1−1 holds for the eigenvalue λ under the transition from A to A−v. Let G be a graph with the adjacency matrix A (G) , and let D (G) be the diagonal matrix of the degrees of G. Nikiforov first defined the matrix A α (G) as A α (G) = α D (G) + (1 − α) A (G) , 0 ≤ α ≤ 1 , which shed new light on A (G) and Q (G) = D (G) + A (G) , and yielded some surprises. The α − adjacency energy E A α (G) of G is a new invariant that is calculated from the eigenvalues of A α (G) . In this work, by combining matrix theory and the graph structure properties, we provide some upper and lower bounds for E A α (G) in terms of graph parameters (the order n, the edge size m, etc.) and characterize the corresponding extremal graphs. In addition, we obtain some relations between E A α (G) and other energies such as the energy E (G) . Abstract Let (G,∗) be a finite group and S={x∈G|x≠x −1} be a subset of G containing its non-self invertible elements. The inverse graph of G denoted by Γ(G) is a graph whose set of vertices coincides with G such that two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if either x∗y∈S or y∗x∈S. In this paper, we study the energy of the dihedral and symmetric groups, we show that if G is a finite non-abelian group with exactly two non-self invertible elements, then the associated inverse graph Γ(G) is never a complete bipartite graph. Furthermore, we establish the isomorphism between the inverse graphs of a subgroup D p of the dihedral group D n of order 2p and subgroup S k of the symmetric groups S n of order k! such that 2 p = n ! Three eigenvalue-based topological molecular descriptors are compared using several datasets of alkanes. Two of them are well-known and frequently employed in various QSPR/QSAR investigations, and third-one is a newly derived whose predictive potential is yet to be proven. The relations among them are found and discussed. Structural parameters that govern these relations are identified and the corresponding formulas based on multiple linear regression have been obtained. It has been shown that all three investigated indices are encoding almost the same structural information of a molecule. They differ only by the extent of the sensitivity on a structural branching of a molecule and on the number of non-bonding molecular orbitals.

The location of the nontrivial poles of a generalized zeta function is derived from the spectrum of Ramanujan graphs and bounds are established for irregular graphs. The existence of a similarity transformation of the diagonal matrix given by a specified set of eigenvalues to an adjacency matrix of a graph is proven, and the method yields a set of finite graphs with eigenvalues determined approximately by a finite subset of the poles of the Ihara zeta function.

A singular graph G, defined when its adjacency matrix is singular, has important applications in mathematics, natural sciences and engineering. The chemical importance of singular graphs lies in the fact that if the molecular graph is singular, the nullity (the number of the zero eigenvalue) is greater than 0, then the corresponding chemical compound is highly reactive or unstable. By this reasoning, chemists have a great interest in this problem. Thus, the problem of characterization singular graphs was proposed and raised extensive studies on this challenging problem thereafter. From our main results, we can conclude that such a γ − graph( δ − graph, ζ − graph, φ − graph) is singular if at least one cycle is a multiple of 4 in length, and surprisingly, the theoretical probability of these graphs being singular is more than half. Spectral graph theory explores the relationship between the eigenvalues and the structural properties of graphs. This study focuses on the fundamental matrices associated with simple graphs, specifically the adjacency matrix. This work contributes to the spectral graph theory literature by introducing a new family of simple connected graphs and investigating their eigenvalue properties. We examine conditions under which these graphs satisfy specific spectral properties, such as the strong antireciprocal eigenvalue property. Additionally, we construct another family of graphs from this new family, proving that each graph within this derived family satisfies the strong antireciprocal eigenvalue property.
