This paper presents the results of an original quantitative sociological study conducted in Autumn 2019 on a sample of 620 Polish migrants living in London, Oxford, and Swindon. The study was conducted using a groupadministered questionnaire. It was primarily to address the question of whether they intend to return to Poland and when. We identify some significant factors influencing their choices. Those are the length of stay in England, their financial situation, their knowledge of English, their ability to assimilate culturally, their relations to the families in Poland, homesickness, and better religious education of children. Religious issues, although mentioned, are less critical; however, a deeper statistical analysis allows to understand the religious background more broadly, to provide a clearer image of the respondents' deep motivations. The paper will present and analyse the results of qualitative research conducted by Stephen Davies with British nationals residing in Poland. The research questions explore their attitudes towards Britain and Brexit, as well as their future plans connected with their place of residence. The dominant themes of the paper are the questions of belonging and attachment. The analysis is preceded by a short introductory section which presents the context of the Brexit processes, as well as the results of research into EU migrants in the United Kingdom and British nationals living in different parts of the European Union. The article presents the results of research on the impact of the United Kingdom's withdrawal from the European Union on Poland's ability to build small, minimal blocking coalitions in the Council of the European Union. To this end, the theory of voting games was used, but departing from the assumption that the creation of each possible coalition of players is equally likely. It was also assumed that they do not necessarily make decisions independently of each other, and the analysis focuses on the ability to build minimally blocking coalitions. The obtained results indicate that after Brexit, for Poland to build a blocking coalition in opposition to the German-French tandem will be a very difficult task, and the loss of the United Kingdom as a potential coalition partner in the Council may be irreplaceable in some matters.
