The article offers information on the Autonomous Land Vehicle (ALV), a military robot, which would be developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of the U.S. The ALV will replace human sentries and will be able to perform hazardous jobs such as detecting land mines, patrolling prisons and inspecting a nuclear power plant. Initially these robots will have a look of a vehicle and will be installed with cameras, laser radar and sensors.
