This paper aims to make a comparative study of logistics transportation problems based on intelligence algorithms. The researchers surveyed the previous studies conducted in the Artificial Intelligent field to solve complex problems. In this research study, the authors focused on techniques that are mostly applied in transportation and logistics systems, especially, Artificial Neural Network, Genetic Algorithm, and Fuzzy Logic models. Also, a proposed model and algorithm was done to obtain customers' and organizations' satisfaction. Artificial Neural Network uses as a decision tool that combines the system stat sets and the operation state-dependent sets. As well, the genetic algorithm combines the best parameters as a method to finds the best evaluation solutions. And fuzzy logic uses a fuzzy set to help decision-makers in making the best decisions in multiple fields. The retinal impulse signal is the basic carrier of visual information. It records the distribution of light on the retina. However, its direct conversion to a scene image is difficult due to the nonlinear characteristics of its distribution. Therefore, the use of artificial neural network to reconstruct the scene from retinal spikes has become an important research area. This paper proposes the architecture of a neural network based on vector quantization, where the feature vectors of spike trains are extracted, compressed, and stored using a feature extraction and compression network. During the decoding process, the nearest neighbour search method is used to find the nearest feature vector corresponding to each feature vector in the feature map. Finally, a reconstruction network is used to decode a new feature map composed of matching feature vectors to obtain a visual scene. This paper also verifies the impact of vector quantization on the characteristics of pulse signals by comparing experiments and visualizing the characteristics before and after vector quantization. The network delivers promising performance when evaluated on different datasets, demonstrating that this research is of great significance for improving relevant applications in the fields of retinal image processing and artificial intelligence. Abnormal behavior is called an abnormal behavior that deviates from the same normal standard as the average. The installation of public CCTVs to prevent crimes is increasing, but the crime rate is rather increasing recently. In line with this situation, artificial intelligence research using deep learning that automatically finds abnormal behavior in CCTV is increasing. Deep learning is a type of artificial intelligence designed based on artificial neural networks, and the quality of learning data is important for high accuracy in the development of artificial intelligence through deep learning. This paper verifies whether learning data for abnormal behavior detection is suitable as learning data which is being constructed using an MPED-RNN model for binary classification to determine whether there is an abnormal behavior by frame using skeleton data of a person based on an autoencoder. As a result of the experiment, the unsupervised learning-based MPED-RNN model used in this paper is not suitable for verifying images with a similar number of frames with and without abnormal behavior, such as the corresponding data, and it is judged that appropriate results can be derived only when verified with a supervised learningbased model. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the most recent papers and research trends in the fields of wind energy and artificial intelligence. Our study aims to guide future research by identifying the potential application and research areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques in the wind energy sector and the knowledge gaps in this field. Artificial intelligence techniques offer significant benefits and advantages in many sub‐areas, such as increasing the efficiency of wind energy facilities, estimating energy production, optimizing operation and maintenance, providing security and control, data analysis, and management. Our research focuses on studies indexed in the Web of Science library on wind energy between 2000 and 2023 using sub‐branches of artificial intelligence techniques such as artificial neural networks, other machine learning methods, data mining, fuzzy logic, meta‐heuristics, and statistical methods. In this way, current methods and techniques in the literature are examined to produce more efficient, sustainable, and reliable wind energy, and the findings are discussed for future studies. The primary objective of the research presented in this article is to introduce an artificial neural network that demands less computational power than a conventional deep neural network. The development of this ANN was achieved through the application of Ordered Fuzzy Numbers (OFNs). In the context of Industry 4.0, there are numerous applications where this solution could be utilized for data processing. It allows the deployment of Artificial Intelligence at the network edge on small devices, eliminating the need to transfer large amounts of data to a cloud server for analysis. Such networks will be easier to implement in small-scale solutions, like those for the Internet of Things, in the future. The rising population of millennials, coupled with Digital Assistants (DA) and online purchasing trends among consumers have gained increasing attention by global marketers. The study evaluates the influence of DA attributes on the purchasing intention (PUI) of millennials. A combined approach of PLS-SEM, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) is used to predict the PUI of 345 millennials. Also, multi-group analysis is employed to uncover the influence of gender on the relationship between PUI and DA attributes. The findings suggest that DA attributes may amplify purchasing intention among millennials, especially through perceived interactivity and anthropomorphism. Further, the moderating role of gender was found significant on the inter-relationship of perceived interactivity and PUI. This research is a pioneer study in the area of artificial intelligence, conversational commerce, DA and AI-powered chatbots. Obtaining mathematical models of nonlinear cyber–physical systems for use in controller design is both difficult and time consuming. In this paper, an ANN-based method is proposed to design a controller for a nonlinear system that does not require a mathematical model. The developed ANN-based control algorithm is implemented directly on a real-time field controller, and its performance is evaluated without the use of auxiliary devices, such as PCs or workstations. By executing machine learning algorithms on local devices or embedded systems, edge artificial intelligence (Edge AI) with transfer learning gives priority to processing data at the source, minimizing the necessity for continuous connectivity to remote servers. The control algorithm was developed using the Matlab Simulink environment. The first and second ANNs were cascaded, wherein the first ANN computes the appropriate pressure signal for the given displacement, while the second predicts the force based on the pressure value from the first ANN. Subsequently, the ANN-based control algorithm was converted to SCL code using the Simulink PLC Coder and deployed on the PLC for operation. The algorithm was tested using two different scenarios. The conducted tests demonstrated the successful prediction of pressure signals corresponding to the targeted displacement values and accurate estimation of force values. The main goal of this work is to combine the usage of the numerical homogenization technique for determining the effective properties of representative volume elements with artificial neural networks. The effective properties are defined according to the classical laminate theory. The purpose is to create and train a rapid surrogate model for the quick calculation of the mechanical properties of hollow concrete slabs. First, the homogenization algorithm was implemented, which determines membrane, bending and transverse shearing properties of a given parametrized hollow-core precast slab reinforced with steel bars. The algorithm uses the finite element mesh but does not require a formal solution of the finite element method problem. Second, the learning and training artificial intelligence framework was created and fed with a dataset obtained by optimal Latin hypercube sampling. In the study, a multilayer perceptron type of artificial neural network was used. This allows for obtaining rapid calculations of the effective properties of a particular hollow-core precast slab by using a surrogate model. In the paper, it has been proven that such a model, obtained via complex numerical calculations, gives a very accurate estimation of the properties and can be used in many practical tasks, such as optimization problems or computer-aided design decisions. This paper deals with the detection of single- and double-switching faults (open-circuit type "O-C") which appear in the inverter of a photovoltaic solar pumping system. Our system as a whole contains a photovoltaic module, a DC/DC step-up converter controlled by perturbation and observation maximum power point tracking technique, a three-phase DC/AC inverter controlled by the sinusoidal pulse width modulation technique, a three-phase induction motor, and a water pump. The used techniques to detect this type of faults are based on artificial intelligence (AI) (neural networks and neuro-fuzzy networks); we use AI as an observer to the inverter in order to detect the faults using extracted features from the inverter output currents. Both of the proposed fault diagnosis techniques show a good performance and high accuracy with less than ±5% of error for neuron-fuzzy and ±7% for artificial neural network and a response time of less than 0.1 s, which is a satisfying speed to detect the faults before a total degradation or any undesirable effects. This paper fulfills an identified need for faults diagnosis of a three-phase inverter in photovoltaic solar pumping systems using AI. In the epoch characterized by the anticipation of autonomous vehicles, the quality of the embedded system software, its reliability, safety, and security is significant. The testing of embedded software is an increasingly significant element of the development process. The application of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms in the process of testing embedded software in vehicles constitutes a significant area of both research and practical consideration, arising from the escalating complexity of these systems. This paper presents the preliminary development of the AVESYS framework which facilitates the application of open-source artificial intelligence algorithms in the embedded system testing process. The aim of this work is to evaluate its effectiveness in identifying anomalies in the test environment that could potentially affect testing results. The raw data from the test environment, mainly communication signals and readings from temperature, as well as current and voltage sensors are pre-processed and used to train machine learning models. Artificial neural networks (ANN), an Artificial Intelligence (AI) technique, are both bio-inspired and nature-inspired models that mimic the operations of the human brain and the central nervous system that is capable of learning. This paper is based on a system that optimizes the performance of an uncertain unmanned nonlinear Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) aerodynamic plant called Twin Rotor MIMO System (TRMS). The pitch and yaw angles which are challenging to control and optimize in practice, are being used as the input to the Nonlinear Auto-Regressive with eXogenous (NARX) model, and eventually trained. The training features use the Matlab Deep Learning Toolbox. The NARX structure has its core in the neural networks' architecture. Data is collected from the TRMS testbed which is used to train the network. ANN as a Hybrid intelligent control strategy of ANN in combination with Pattern Search and Genetic Algorithm, is then utilized to optimize the parameters of the neural networks. At the end it was validated, tested and the optimized system run in simulation and compared with other intelligent and conventional controllers, with the proposed controller outperforming them, giving a very fast-tracking control, stable and optimal performance that satisfactorily met all our design requirements. A smart grid is a promising use-case of AIoT (AI (artificial intelligence) across IoT (internet of things)) that enables bidirectional communication among utilities that arises with demand response (DR) schemes for demand-side management (DSM) and consumers that manage their power demands according to received DR signals. Disaggregating composite electric energy consumption data from a single minimal set of plug-panel current and voltage sensors installed at the electric panel in a practical field of interest, nonintrusive appliance load monitoring (NIALM), a cost-effective load disaggregation approach for (residential) DSM, is able to discern individual electrical appliances concerned without accessing each of them by individual plug-load power meters (smart plugs) deployed intrusively. The most common load disaggregation approaches are based on machine learning algorithms such as artificial neural networks, while approaches based on evolutionary computing, metaheuristic algorithms considered as global optimization and search techniques, have recently caught the attention of researchers. This paper presents a genetic algorithm, developed in consideration of parallel evolutionary computing, and aims to address NIALM, whereby load disaggregation from composite electric energy consumption data is declared as a combinatorial optimization problem and is solved by the algorithm. The algorithm is accelerated in parallel, as it would involve large amounts of NIALM data disaggregated through evolutionary computing, chromosomes, and/or evolutionary cycles to dominate its performance in load disaggregation and excessively cost its execution time. Moreover, the evolutionary computing implementation based on parallel computing, a feed-forward, multilayer artificial neural network that can learn from training data across all available workers of a parallel pool on a machine (in parallel computing) addresses the same NIALM/load disaggregation. This paper presents a new approach to simplify the design of class-E power amplifier (PA) using hybrid artificial neural-optimization network modeling. The class-E PA is designed for wireless power transfer (WPT) applications to be used in biomedical or internet of things (IoT) devices. Artificial neural network (ANN) models are combined with optimization algorithms to support the design of the class-E PA. In several amplifier circuits, the closed form equations cannot be extracted. Hence, the complicated numerical calculations are needed to find the circuit elements values and then to design the amplifier. Therefore, for the first time, ANN modeling is proposed in this paper to predict the values of the circuit elements without using the complex equations. In comparison with the other similar models, high accuracy has been obtained for the proposed model with mean absolute errors (MAEs) of 0.0110 and 0.0099, for train and test results. Moreover, root mean square errors (RMSEs) of 0.0163 and 0.0124 have been achieved for train and test results for the proposed model. Moreover, the best and the worst-case related errors of 0.001 and 0.168 have been obtained, respectively, for the both design examples at different frequencies, which shows high accuracy of the proposed ANN design method. Finally, a design of class-E PA is presented using the circuit elements values that, first, extracted by the analyses, and second, predicted by ANN. The calculated drain efficiencies for the designed class-E amplifiers have been obtained equal to 95.5% and 91.2% by using analyses data and predicted data by proposed ANN, respectively. While implementing the ANN technique, knowing whether the implementation could have been done in hardware or software becomes necessary, which is essential to achieve the expected performance. This paper gives a survey on the available methods in which the ANN architecture has been implemented to achieve efficient output with minimal resources. It is vital to study and analyze various strategies for implementation and their functionality. Despite advancements in smart grid (SG) technology, effective load forecasting utilizing big data or large-scale datasets remains a complex task for energy management, planning, and control. The Saudi SGs, in alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030, have been envisioned as future electrical grids with a bidirectional flow of power and data. To that end, data analysis and predictive models can enhance Saudi SG planning and control via artificial intelligence (AI). Recently, many AI methods including deep learning (DL) algorithms for SG applications have been published in the literature and have shown superior time series predictions compared with conventional prediction models. Current load-prediction research for the Saudi grid focuses on identifying anticipated loads and consumptions, on utilizing limited historical data and the behavior of the load's consumption, and on conducting shallow forecasting models. However, little scientific proof on complex DL models or real-life application has been conducted by researchers; few articles have studied sophisticated large-scale prediction models for Saudi grids. This paper proposes hybrid DL methods to enhance the outcomes in Saudi SG load forecasting, to improve problem-relevant features, and to accurately predict complicated power consumption, with the goal of developing reliable forecasting models and of obtaining knowledge of the relationships between the various features and attributes in the Saudi SGs. The model in this paper utilizes a real dataset from the Jeddah and Medinah grids in Saudi Arabia for a full year, 2021, with a one-hour time resolution. A benchmark strategy using different conventional DL methods including artificial neural network, recurrent neural network (RNN), conventional neural networks (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), gated recurrent unit (GRU), and different real datasets is used to verify the proposed models. The prediction results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid DL models, with CNN–GRU and CNN–RNN with NRMSE obtaining 1.4673% and 1.222% improvements, respectively, in load forecasting accuracy. Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the neural, behavioral, and physiological systems of the brain. This disease is also known as tremor. The common symptoms of this disease are a slowness of movement known as 'bradykinesia', loss of automatic movements, speech/writing changes, and difficulty with walking at early stages. To solve these issues and to enhance the diagnostic process of PD, machine learning (ML) algorithms have been implemented for the categorization of subjective disease and healthy controls (HC) with comparable medical appearances. To provide a far-reaching outline of data modalities and artificial intelligence techniques that have been utilized in the analysis and diagnosis of PD, we conducted a literature analysis of research papers published up until 2022. A total of 112 research papers were included in this study, with an examination of their targets, data sources and different types of datasets, ML algorithms, and associated outcomes. The results showed that ML approaches and new biomarkers have a lot of promise for being used in clinical decision-making, resulting in a more systematic and informed diagnosis of PD. Artificial neural network is revolutionizing business and everyday life, bringing us to the next level in artificial intelligence. It has a unique ability to extract meaning from complex data to find patterns and detect trends that are too convoluted for the human brain. This paper analyzes the artificial neural network impact on different computational organizations by using the innovative structure of bipolar complex spherical fuzzy relation which is any subset of the Cartesian product of two bipolar complex spherical fuzzy sets. This notion has a comprehensive structure that consists of membership grade, abstinence grade, and non-membership grade. Furthermore, various kinds of bipolar complex spherical fuzzy relation with suitable examples are given and some authentic results also have been proved. These newly defined structures are used to investigate the impact of artificial neural network work on a variety of organizations. Heading and position control system of ships has remained a challenging control problem. It is a nonlinear multiple input multiple output system. Moreover, the dynamics of the system vary with operating as well as environmental conditions. Conventionally, simple Proportional Integral Derivative controller is used which has well known limitations. Other conventional control techniques have also been investigated but they require an accurate mathematical model of a ship. Unfortunately, accuracy of mathematical models is very difficult to achieve. During the past few decades computational intelligence techniques such as artificial neural networks have been very successful when an accurate mathematical model is not available. Therefore, in this paper, an artificial neural network controller is proposed for heading and position control system. For simulation purposes, a mathematical model with four effective thrusters have been chosen to test the performance of the proposed controller. Load forecasting (LF) is an essential factor in power system management. LF helps the utility maximize the utilization of power-generating plants and schedule them both reliably and economically. In this paper, a novel and hybrid forecasting method is proposed, combining a long short-term memory network (LSTM) and neural prophet (NP) through an artificial neural network. The paper aims to predict electric load for different time horizons with improved accuracy as well as consistency. The proposed model uses historical load data, weather data, and statistical features obtained from the historical data. Multiple case studies have been conducted with two different real-time data sets on three different types of load forecasting. The hybrid model is later compared with a few established methods of load forecasting found in the literature with different performance metrics: mean average percentage error (MAPE), root mean square error (RMSE), sum of square error (SSE), and regression coefficient (R). Moreover, a guideline with various attributes is provided for different types of load forecasting considering the applications of the proposed model. The results and comparisons from our test cases showed that the proposed hybrid model improved the forecasting accuracy for three different types of load forecasting over other forecasting techniques. This paper focuses on developing a computationally economic lightweight artificial intelligence (AI) technology for smartphones. Until date, no commercial system is available on this technology. Thus the developed breakthrough technology can enhance the capability of users on the field for monitoring the agricultural vehicles (AgV)s health by analyzing the acoustic noise using smartphone's app. This paper can enable the user of AgVs to optimize their farming by management at edge devices: smartphones. Since smartphones use a small integrated computing unit with computational limited resources, thus lighter the system, more favorable to work on. Artificial neural network (ANN) is one of the most favorite AI techniques, but its lightweight architecture—attributed by the number of inputs and hidden layers and neurons—, is one of the most important issues in the context of smartphones. Under the framework of bi-level optimization, we aim to analyze the tournament selection operator based genetic algorithm with hybrid crossover operators, at level-I, to evolve ANN, at level-II to design the lightweight edge device enabled AI technique. The obtained results and numerical evaluative analysis indicate that the optimized design of the lightweight fault detection system responds well to the soundtracks received via microphones. We present the evaluation of the proposed technology on serial programming, parallel programming (PP), GPU programming, and GPU with PP. In recent years, order-reduction techniques based on artificial intelligence algorithms have become a topic of interest in the structural dynamics community. In this paper, we describe a new artificial intelligence technique based on the artificial neural network used to reduce a large interval system. Applied to reduce the degree of the polynomial numerator and denominator each separately, by allowing them to learn automatically from the original system, this machine learning phase allows the algorithm to improve over time and control performance of the approximation, maintaining as much as possible the stability of the dynamic system, and reducing errors between the original system and the reduced system that are presented as a very acceptable approximation, a comparison study is presented between existing works and the proposed technique, with the help of examples from literature. Rock mechanical properties play a crucial role in fracturing design, wellbore stability and in situ stresses estimation. Conventionally, there are two ways to estimate Young's modulus, either by conducting compressional tests on core plug samples or by calculating it from well log parameters. The first method is costly, time-consuming and does not provide a continuous profile. In contrast, the second method provides a continuous profile, however, it requires the availability of acoustic velocities and usually gives estimations that differ from the experimental ones. In this paper, a different approach is proposed based on the drilling operational data such as weight on bit and penetration rate. To investigate this approach, two machine learning techniques were used, artificial neural network (ANN) and support vector machine (SVM). A total of 2288 data points were employed to develop the model, while another 1667 hidden data points were used later to validate the built models. These data cover different types of formations carbonate, sandstone and shale. The two methods used yielded a good match between the measured and predicted Young's modulus with correlation coefficients above 0.90, and average absolute percentage errors were less than 15%. For instance, the correlation coefficients for ANN ranged between 0.92 and 0.97 for the training and testing data, respectively. A new empirical correlation was developed based on the optimized ANN model that can be used with different datasets. According to these results, the estimation of elastic moduli from drilling parameters is promising and this approach could be investigated for other rock mechanical parameters. One of the most common pavement distresses in flexible pavement is rutting, which is mainly caused by heavy wheel load and various other factors. The prediction of rutting depth is important for safe travel and the long-term performance of pavements. Factors that are considered in this paper for the prediction of rut depth are Temperature, Equivalent Single Axle Load, Resilient modulus, and Thickness of hot mixed asphalt. The input data for all factors are collected from the Long-Term Pavement Performance Information Management System for the state of Texas. Regression analysis is performed for dependent and independent variables to obtain the empirical relationship. In various fields of civil engineering, artificial neural networks have recently been utilized to model the qualities and behavior of materials and to determine the complicated relationship between various properties. An Artificial Neural Network is used to develop a predictive model to predict the rutting depth. A total number of 70 observations were considered for the predictive model. Affected by shooting angle and light intensity, shooting through transparent media may cause light reflections in an image and influence picture quality, which has a negative effect on the research of computer vision tasks. In this paper, we propose a Residual Attention Based Reflection Removal Network (RABRRN) to tackle the issue of single image reflection removal. We hold that reflection removal is essentially an image separation problem sensitive to both spatial and channel features. Therefore, we integrate spatial attention and channel attention into the model to enhance spatial and channel feature representation. For a more feasible solution to solve the problem of gradient disappearance in the iterative training of deep neural networks, the attention module is combined with a residual network to design a residual attention module so that the performance of reflection removal can be ameliorated. In addition, we establish a reflection image dataset named the SCAU Reflection Image Dataset (SCAU-RID), providing sufficient real training data. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a PSNR of 23.787 dB and an SSIM value of 0.885 from four benchmark datasets. Developing accurate and interpretable models to forecast concrete's self-healing behavior is of interest to material engineers, scientists, and civil engineering contractors. Machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence are powerful tools that allow constructing high-precision predictions, yet often considered "black box" methods due to their complexity. Those approaches are commonly used for the modeling of mechanical properties of concrete with exceptional accuracy; however, there are few studies dealing with the application of ML for the self-healing of cementitious materials. This paper proposes a pioneering study on the utilization of ML for predicting post-fire self-healing of concrete. A large database is constructed based on the literature studies. Twelve input variables are analyzed: w/c, age of concrete, amount of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, peak loading temperature, duration of peak loading temperature, cooling regime, duration of cooling, curing regime, duration of curing, and specimen volume. The output of the model is the compressive strength recovery, being one of the self-healing efficiency indicators. Four ML methods are optimized and compared based on their performance error: Support Vector Machines (SVM), Regression Trees (RT), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), and Ensemble of Regression Trees (ET). Monte Carlo analysis is conducted to verify the stability of the selected model. All ML approaches demonstrate satisfying precision, twice as good as linear regression. The ET model is found to be the most optimal with the highest prediction accuracy and sufficient robustness. Model interpretation is performed using Partial Dependence Plots and Individual Conditional Expectation Plots. One of the most challenging tasks in project management is estimating the duration of a project. The unknowns that accompany projects, the different risks, the uniqueness of each project, and the differences between organizations' culture and management techniques, hinder the ability to build one project duration prediction tool that can fit all types of projects and organizations. When machine learning (ML) techniques are used for project duration prediction, the challenge is even greater, as each organization has a different dataset structure, different features, and different quality of data. This hinders the ability to create one ML model that fits all types of organizations. This paper presents a new dynamic ML tool for improving the prediction accuracy of project duration. The tool is based on an artificial neural network (ANN) which is automatically adapted and optimized to different types of prediction methods and different datasets. The tool trains the ANN model multiple times with different architectures and uses a genetic algorithm to eventually choose the architecture which gives the most accurate prediction results. The validation process of the prediction accuracy is performed by using real-life project datasets supplied by two different organizations which have different project management approaches, different project types, and different project features. The results show that the proposed tool significantly improved the prediction accuracy for both organizations despite the major differences in the size, type, and structure of their datasets. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and an increasing demand for redundant robotic systems, robot control systems are becoming increasingly complex. Although forward kinematics (FK) and inverse kinematics (IK) equations have been used as basic and perfect solutions for robot posture control, both equations have a significant drawback. When a robotic system is highly nonlinear, it is difficult or impossible to derive both the equations. In this paper, we propose a new method that can replace both the FK and IK equations of a seven-degrees-of-freedom (7-DOF) robot manipulator. This method is based on reinforcement learning (RL) and artificial neural networks (ANN) for supervised learning (SL). RL was used to acquire training datasets consisting of six posture data in Cartesian space and seven motor angle data in joint space. The ANN is used to make the discrete training data continuous, which implies that the trained ANN infers any new data. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the proposed method were performed through computer simulation. In brain–computer interfaces (BCIs), it is crucial to process brain signals to improve the accuracy of the classification of motor movements. Machine learning (ML) algorithms such as artificial neural networks (ANNs), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), decision tree (D.T.), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), naive Bayes (N.B.), and support vector machine (SVM) have made significant progress in classification issues. This paper aims to present a signal processing analysis of electroencephalographic (EEG) signals among different feature extraction techniques to train selected classification algorithms to classify signals related to motor movements. The motor movements considered are related to the left hand, right hand, both fists, feet, and relaxation, making this a multiclass problem. In this study, nine ML algorithms were trained with a dataset created by the feature extraction of EEG signals.The EEG signals of 30 Physionet subjects were used to create a dataset related to movement. We used electrodes C3, C1, CZ, C2, and C4 according to the standard 10-10 placement. Then, we extracted the epochs of the EEG signals and applied tone, amplitude levels, and statistical techniques to obtain the set of features. LabVIEW™2015 version custom applications were used for reading the EEG signals; for channel selection, noise filtering, band selection, and feature extraction operations; and for creating the dataset. MATLAB 2021a was used for training, testing, and evaluating the performance metrics of the ML algorithms. In this study, the model of Medium-ANN achieved the best performance, with an AUC average of 0.9998, Cohen's Kappa coefficient of 0.9552, a Matthews correlation coefficient of 0.9819, and a loss of 0.0147. These findings suggest the applicability of our approach to different scenarios, such as implementing robotic prostheses, where the use of superficial features is an acceptable option when resources are limited, as in embedded systems or edge computing devices. Bridge strikes by over-height vehicles or ships are critical sudden events. Due to their unpredictable nature, many events go unnoticed or unreported, but they can induce structural failures or hidden damage that accelerates the bridge's long-term degradation. Therefore, always-on monitoring is essential for deployed systems to enhance bridge safety through the reliable detection of such events and the rapid assessment of bridge conditions. Traditional bridge monitoring systems using wired sensors are too expensive for widespread implementation, mainly due to their significant installation cost. In this paper, an intelligent wireless monitoring system is developed as a cost-effective solution. It employs ultralow-power, event-triggered wireless sensor prototypes, which enables on-demand, high-fidelity sensing without missing unpredictable impact events. Furthermore, the proposed system adopts a smart artificial intelligence (AI)-based framework for rapid bridge assessment by utilizing artificial neural networks. Specifically, it can identify the impact location and estimate the peak force and impulse of impacts. The obtained impact information is used to provide early estimation of bridge conditions, allowing the bridge engineers to prioritize resource allocation for the timely inspection of the more severe impacts. The performance of the proposed monitoring system is demonstrated through a full-scale field test. The test results show that the developed system can capture the onset of bridge impacts, provide high-quality synchronized data, and offer a rapid damage assessment of bridges under impact events, achieving the error of around 2 m in impact localization, 1 kN for peak force estimation, and 0.01 kN·s for impulse estimation. In this paper, we study a new model that represents the symmetric connection between capacitance–voltage and Schottky diode. This model has a symmetrical shape towards the horizontal direction. In recent times, works conducted on artificial neural network structure, which is one of the greatest actual artificial intelligence apparatuses used in various fields, stated that artificial neural networks are apparatuses that proposal very high forecast performance by the side of conventional structures. In the current investigation, an artificial neural network structure has been generated to guess the capacitance voltage productions of the Schottky diode with organic polymer edge, contingent on the frequency with a symmetrical shape. Of the dataset, 130 were grouped for training, 28 for validation, and 28 for testing. In order to evaluate the effect of the number of neurons on the prediction accuracy, three different models with different neuron numbers have been developed. This study, in which an artificial neural network model, although well-trained, could not predict the output values correctly, is a first in the literature. To obtain the mechanical behavior response of the material under loading, a data-driven construction method of material mechanical behavior model is proposed, which is universal for predicting the mechanical behavior of any material under different loads. Based on the framework of artificial intelligence and finite element simulation, the method uses Python script to drive an Abaqus loop calculation to obtain data sets and performs artificial intelligence training on data sets to realize model construction. In this paper, taking the quasi-static tension of 9310 steel as an example, a material mechanical behavior model is constructed, and the accuracy of the prediction model is verified based on the experimental data. The results show that the simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental data. The error between the simulation results and the experimental results is within 2%, indicating that the model constructed by this method can effectively predict the mechanical properties of materials. Accidents typically occurred on roads, resulting in significant societal losses. Road accidents are a worldwide issue that result in the loss of precious human lives and property. The purpose of this paper is to create an intelligent system-based on Machine Learning model for avoiding road accidents, as well as a system that effectively reduces road accidents severities. The Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm, along with others such as Logistic Regression (LR), Decision Tree (DT), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Nave Bayes (NB), Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD), Random Forest (RF), Gradient Boosting (GB), and AdaBoost, is used to create an intelligence system. Many driving collaborator procedures, installed in a few vehicles, assist drivers in avoiding vehicle crashes by providing early cautioning messages. The intelligence road crash avoidance system model is built on dataset of 29 columns and 1048575 rows. Preprocessing, feature selection, and feature extraction performed with the help of heat map and correlation matrix are used to select features. Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) is used for feature extraction. The testing dataset revealed that the proposed ANN method outperforms other algorithms with an accuracy of 0.856. Background: Machine learning (ML) is a key component of artificial intelligence (AI). The terms machine learning, artificial intelligence, and deep learning are erroneously used interchangeably as they appear as monolithic nebulous entities. This technology offers immense possibilities and opportunities to advance diagnostics in the field of medicine and dentistry. This necessitates a deep understanding of AI and its essential components, such as machine learning (ML), artificial neural networks (ANN), and deep learning (DP). Aim: This review aims to enlighten clinicians regarding AI and its applications in the diagnosis of oral diseases, along with the prospects and challenges involved. Review results: AI has been used in the diagnosis of various oral diseases, such as dental caries, maxillary sinus diseases, periodontal diseases, salivary gland diseases, TMJ disorders, and oral cancer through clinical data and diagnostic images. Larger data sets would enable AI to predict the occurrence of precancerous conditions. They can aid in population-wide surveillance and decide on referrals to specialists. AI can efficiently detect microfeatures beyond the human eye and augment its predictive power in critical diagnosis. Conclusion: Although studies have recognized the benefit of AI, the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning has not been integrated into routine dentistry. AI is still in the research phase. The coming decade will see immense changes in diagnosis and healthcare built on the back of this research. This paper demonstrates the validation and prediction of the wall temperature of a building exposed to a composite climate. Two artificial intelligence models, such as multiple linear regression and artificial neural networks, have been used to predict. The wall temperature has been predicted mainly based on the parameters like ambient temperature, wind speed and relative humidity in all four directions of the buildings. Three statistical analyses were used to validate the model's outcome: R-Squared, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). In terms of train and control data, the two models yield comparable findings. The artificial neural network model has more adaptability since it was able to adjust to unexpected changes in the input data, according to a comparison of the applied mathematics of each model. The regression model was used for this investigation because it gives constant estimate values for the factors, though the neural model isn't numerically characterized. The review infers that the neural model must be utilized as an additional way to predict the wall temperature. This study can plan and adapt buildings for future work, considering the most critical climatic conditions. Tracking the cell temperature is critical for battery safety and cell durability. It is not feasible to equip every cell with a temperature sensor in large battery systems such as those in electric vehicles. Apart from this, temperature sensors are usually mounted on the cell surface and do not detect the core temperature, which can mean detecting an offset due to the temperature gradient. Many sensorless methods require great computational effort for solving partial differential equations or require error-prone parameterization. This paper presents a sensorless temperature estimation method for lithium ion cells using data from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in combination with artificial neural networks (ANNs). By training an ANN with data of 28 cells and estimating the cell temperatures of eight more cells of the same cell type, the neural network (a simple feed forward ANN with only one hidden layer) was able to achieve an estimation accuracy of DT = 1 K (10 °C < T < 60 °C) with low computational effort. The temperature estimations were investigated for different cell types at various states of charge (SoCs) with different superimposed direct currents. Our method is easy to use and can be completely automated, since there is no significant offset in monitoring temperature. The dead-ended anode (DEA) and anode recirculation operations are commonly used to improve the hydrogen utilization of automotive proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells. The cell performance will decline over time due to the nitrogen crossover and liquid water accumulation in the anode. Highly efficient prediction of the short-term degradation behaviors of the PEM fuel cell has great significance. In this paper, we propose a data-driven degradation prediction method based on multivariate polynomial regression (MPR) and artificial neural network (ANN). This method first predicts the initial value of cell performance, and then the cell performance variations over time are predicted to describe the degradation behaviors of the PEM fuel cell. Two cases of degradation data, the PEM fuel cell in the DEA and anode recirculation modes, are employed to train the model and demonstrate the validation of the proposed method. The results show that the mean relative errors predicted by the proposed method are much smaller than those by only using the ANN or MPR. The predictive performance of the two-hidden-layer ANN is significantly better than that of the one-hidden-layer ANN. The performance curves predicted by using the sigmoid activation function are smoother and more realistic than that by using rectified linear unit (ReLU) activation function. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Shear connectors play a prominent role in the design of steel-concrete composite systems. The behavior of shear connectors is generally determined through conducting push-out tests. However, these tests are costly and require plenty of time. As an alternative approach, soft computing (SC) can be used to eliminate the need for conducting push-out tests. This study aims to investigate the application of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, as sub-branches of SC methods, in the behavior prediction of an innovative type of C-shaped shear connectors, called Tilted Angle Connectors. For this purpose, several push-out tests are conducted on these connectors and the required data for the AI models are collected. Then, an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is developed to identify the most influencing parameters on the shear strength of the tilted angle connectors. Totally, six different models are created based on the ANFIS results. Finally, AI techniques such as an artificial neural network (ANN), an extreme learning machine (ELM), and another ANFIS are employed to predict the shear strength of the connectors in each of the six models. The results of the paper show that slip is the most influential factor in the shear strength of tilted connectors and after that, the inclination angle is the most effective one. Moreover, it is deducted that considering only four parameters in the predictive models is enough to have a very accurate prediction. In this paper, an intelligent approach, called HERON (hybrid evolutionary optimization for nutraceutical manufacturing), is proposed to optimize a variety of manufacturing processes in the nutraceutical field. The approach integrates the Taguchi method, an artificial neural network (ANN), and a genetic algorithm (GA). The Taguchi method is used to cost-effectively gather the data on the process parameters. Data obtained by the Taguchi method are divided into input and output data for an ANN's input and output parameters, respectively. The ANN trains itself to develop the relationship between its input and output parameters. The trained ANN is then integrated into a GA as the fitness function, such that the GA can evolutionarily obtain the optimal process parameters. The HERON is validated through a manufacturing process on soft-shell turtle soft-capsules. The objective is to minimize the soft-capsule defect rate. Compared to the defect rates obtained by the empirical and Taguchi methods, the HERON reduces the defect rate by 43.75 and 32.5 %, respectively. In addition, compared to the manufacturing costs obtained by the empirical and Taguchi methods, the HERON reduces the manufacturing cost by 11.81 and 25.29 %, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Featured Application: This paper presents solutions for smart devices with embedded artificial intelligence dedicated to vehicular applications. Virtual sensors based on neural networks or regressors provide real-time predictions on diesel engine power loss caused by increased exhaust back pressure. The actual trade-off among engine emissions and performance requires detailed investigations into exhaust system configurations. Correlations among engine data acquired by sensors are susceptible to artificial intelligence (AI)-driven performance assessment. The influence of exhaust back pressure (EBP) on engine performance, mainly on effective power, was investigated on a turbocharged diesel engine tested on an instrumented dynamometric test-bench. The EBP was externally applied at steady state operation modes defined by speed and load. A complete dataset was collected to supply the statistical analysis and machine learning phases—the training and testing of all the AI solutions developed in order to predict the effective power. By extending the cloud-/edge-computing model with the cloud AI/edge AI paradigm, comprehensive research was conducted on the algorithms and software frameworks most suited to vehicular smart devices. A selection of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and regressors was implemented and evaluated. Two proof-of concept smart devices were built using state-of-the-art technology—one with hardware acceleration for "complete cycle" AI and the other with a compact code and size ("AI in a nut-shell") with ANN coefficients embedded in the code and occasionally offline "statistical re-calibration". This paper focuses on short-term forecast of electricity consumption of the industrial consumers using artificial neural networks. The paper is divided into six parts. The first part presents an introduction of the problem analysed. In the second part we present the database containing time series, with hourly average power of the analysed consumers. In the literature, it was reported that the chaotic artificial neural network model with sinusoidal activation functions possesses a large memory capacity as well as a remarkable ability of retrieving the stored patterns, better than the conventional chaotic model with only monotonic activation functions such as sigmoidal functions. This paper, from the viewpoint of the anti-integrable limit, elucidates the mechanism inducing the superiority of the model with periodic activation functions that includes sinusoidal functions. Particularly, by virtue of the anti-integrable limit technique, this paper shows that any finite-dimensional neural network model with periodic activation functions and properly selected parameters has much more abundant chaotic dynamics that truly determine the model's memory capacity and pattern-retrieval ability. To some extent, this paper mathematically and numerically demonstrates that an appropriate choice of the activation functions and control scheme can lead to a large memory capacity and better pattern-retrieval ability of the artificial neural network models. Software defined networking (SDN) is an emerging networking architecture that separates the control plane from the data plane and moves network management to a central point, called the controller. The controller is responsible for preparing the flow tables of each switch in the data plane. Although dynamic routing can perform rerouting in case of congestion by periodically monitoring the status of each data flow, problems concerning a suitable monitoring period duration and lack of learning ability from past experiences to avoid similar but ineffective route decisions remain unsolved. This paper presents an artificial intelligence enabled routing (AIER) mechanism with congestion avoidance in SDN, which can not only alleviate the impact of monitoring periods with dynamic routing, but also provide learning ability and superior route decisions by introducing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. We evaluate the performance of the proposed AIER mechanism on the Mininet simulator by installing three additional modules, namely, topology discovery, monitoring period, and an artificial neural network, in the control plane. The effectiveness and superiority of our proposed AIER mechanism are demonstrated by performance metrics, including average throughput, packet loss ratio, and packet delay versus data rate for different monitoring periods in the system.
