The article reports that researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are using viruses to grow anodes and cathodes in micro-batteries, half the size of a human cell. They have formed two of the three essential elements of a battery, the anode and the electrolyte, with the help of genetically modified viruses. Next they have to create the cathode using the similar technique called soft lithography.
