INTRODUCTION: Traditional methods for assessing movement quality rely on subjective standardized scales and clinical expertise. This limitation creates challenges for assessing patients with spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), in whom changes in mobility can be subtle and varied. We hypothesized that a machine learning analytic system might complement traditional clinician-rated measures of gait. Our objective was to use a video-based assessment of gait dispersion to compare the effects of troriluzole with placebo on gait quality in adults with SCA. METHODS: Participants with SCA underwent gait assessment in a phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of troriluzole (NCT03701399). Videos were processed through a deep learning pose extraction algorithm, followed by the estimation of a novel gait stability measure, the Pose Dispersion Index, quantifying the frame-by-frame symmetry, balance, and stability during natural and tandem walk tasks. The effects of troriluzole treatment were assessed in mixed linear models, participant-level grouping, and treatment group-by-visit week interaction adjusted for age, sex, baseline modified Functional Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (f-SARA), and time since diagnosis. RESULTS: From 218 randomized participants, 67 and 56 participants had interpretable videos of a tandem and natural walk attempt, respectively. At Week 48, individuals assigned to troriluzole exhibited significant (p = 0.010) improvement in tandem walk Pose Dispersion Index versus placebo {adjusted interaction coefficient: 0.584 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.137 to 1.031]}. A similar, nonsignificant trend was observed in the natural walk assessment [coefficient: 1.198 (95% CI - 1.067 to 3.462)]. Further, lower baseline Pose Dispersion Index during the natural walk was significantly (p = 0.041) associated with a higher risk of subsequent falls [adjusted Poisson coefficient: - 0.356 [95% CI - 0.697 to - 0.014)]. CONCLUSION: Using this novel approach, troriluzole-treated subjects demonstrated improvement in gait as compared to placebo for the tandem walk. Machine learning applied to video-captured gait parameters can complement clinician-reported motor assessment in adults with SCA. The Pose Dispersion Index may enhance assessment in future research. Background: Video-recordings review of patient encounters is reported to improve the clinical performance of medical students. However, evidence on specific remediation strategies or outcomes are lacking. We aimed to implement videorecording-based remediation of standardized patient encounters among medical students, combined with preceptor one-on-one feedback or peer group discussion, and evaluate the effectiveness of the two remediation methods using objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). Methods: Following standardized patient encounters, 107 final-year medical students were divided into two groups based on different remediation methods of video review: (1) precepted video review with preceptor feedback (N = 55) and (2) private video review and subsequent peer group discussion under supervision (N = 52). All students underwent twelve-stations of OSCE both before and after the video review. Students' pre- and post-remediation OSCE scores, self-efficacy level in patient encounters, and level of educational satisfaction with each method were assessed and compared between different video-based remediation methods to evaluate their respective effects. Results: After remediation, the total and subcomponent OSCE scores, such as history taking, physical examination, and patient – physician interaction (PPI), among all students increased significantly. Post-remediation OSCE scores showed no significant difference between two remediation methods (preceptor module, 79.6 ± 4.3 vs. peer module, 79.4 ± 3.8 in the total OSCE score). Students' self-efficacy levels increased after remediation in both modules (both p-value <0.001), with no difference between the two modules. However, students' satisfaction level was higher in the preceptor module than in the peer module (80.1 ± 17.7 vs. 59.2 ± 25.1, p-value <0.001). Among students with poor baseline OSCE performance, a prominent increase in PPI scores was observed in the preceptor-based module. Conclusion: Video-based remediation of patient encounters, either through preceptor review with one-on-one feedback or through private review with peer discussion, was equally effective in improving the OSCE scores and self-efficacy levels of medical students. In the rapidly evolving landscape of digital platforms, the need for optimizing media representations to cater to various aspect ratios is palpable. In this paper, we pioneer an approach that utilizes object detection, scene detection, outlier detection, and interpolation for smart cropping. Using soccer as a case study, our primary goal is to capture the frame salience using object (player and ball) detection and tracking using AI models. To improve the object detection and tracking, we rely on scene understanding and explore various outlier detection and interpolation techniques. Our pipeline, called SmartCrop, is efficient, and supports various configurations for object tracking, interpolation, and outlier detection to find the best point-of-interest to be used as the cropping center of the video frame. An objective evaluation of the performance of individual pipeline components has validated our proposed architecture. Moreover, a crowdsourced subjective user study, assessing the alternative approaches for cropping from 16:9 to 1:1 and 9:16 aspect ratios, confirms that our proposed approach increases the end-user quality of experience. Background: Telehealth has become increasingly essential in healthcare provision, also in the Prehospital Emergency Medical Services (EMS), where live video is implemented as a supplemental tool to assess and triage medical emergency calls. So far, using video for emergency calls seems beneficial for patient assessment and dispatcher-assisted first aid. However, the EMS dispatchers' experiences with and perceptions of using video during emergency calls are largely unexplored. Methods: In 2023, a nationwide survey study was conducted in Denmark, which is covered by five Emergency Medical Dispatch Centers. All Danish EMS dispatchers were invited to participate in the study. The survey explored the dispatchers' experience with using video during emergency calls, the perception of their own video use, and the process of implementing video as a new tool in their working procedure. Main questions were answered on a scale from 1 to 7, where higher scores indicate more agreement. Results: Of the 183 EMS dispatchers employed during the study period, 78% completed the survey. They found video easy to use (median = 7) and found video supportive in guidance and dispatch when the patient's problem was unclear (median = 7), but did not find video suitable for all emergency calls and expressed that complications with the technology was a barrier for using video. The EMS dispatchers were least likely to agree that they choose not to use video due to the risk of being emotionally affected by what they might see (median = 1). When dividing the sample based on EMS dispatcher's gender, age, seniority, and educational background, generally few differences between groups were found. Conclusions: Live video during emergency calls is generally experienced as a useful supplemental tool by EMS dispatchers in Denmark, and the greatest self-perceived barriers for using video were not finding video suitable for all situations and the technology. Background/Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic reduced in-person pediatric visits in the United States by over 50%, while telehealth visits increased significantly. The national use of telehealth for children and the factors influencing their use have been rarely studied. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of telehealth use during the COVID-19 pandemic and explore the potential factors linked to its use at the state level. Methods: A cross-sectional study of the National Survey of Children's Health (2021–22) sponsored by the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau was performed. We used the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression to predict telehealth use during the pandemic. A bar map showing the significant factors from the multivariable regression was created. Results: Of the 101,136 children, 15.25% reported using telehealth visits due to COVID-19, and 3.67% reported using telehealth visits due to other health reasons. The Northeast states showed the highest telehealth use due to COVID-19. In the Midwest and Southern states, children had a lower prevalence of telehealth visits due to other health reasons. The LASSO regressions demonstrated that telehealth visits were associated with age, insurance type, household income, usual source of pediatric preventive care, perceived child health, blood disorders, allergy, brain injury, seizure, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and special needs. Conclusions: This study demonstrated significant variability in the use of telehealth among states during the COVID-19 pandemic. Understanding who uses telehealth and why, as well as identifying access barriers, helps maximize telehealth potential and improve healthcare outcomes for all. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Trauma is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, and online platforms have become essential sources of information for trauma management. YouTube can play a significant role in helping people access medical information. Methods: YouTube was searched using the keywords management of trauma and assessment of trauma to identify relevant videos. Two authors independently evaluated the videos according to the ATLS (10th edition) guidelines, the modified DISCERN (m‐DISCERN) scale, and the Global Quality Scale (GQS) criteria. The videos that met the study criteria were evaluated based on the provider, video length, and view count. Results: Out of 939 videos, 667 were excluded resulting in 272 videos included in the study. According to the ATLS (10th edition) guidelines, the median score for videos was 8 (IQR 7‐8). Videos uploaded by official institutions and healthcare professionals received higher scores than from uncertain sources (p = 0.003). According to the GQS, 86% of the videos were low or moderate quality; uncertain sources uploaded 78% of low‐quality videos. Conclusion: YouTube is an information source about trauma management that contains videos of varying quality and has a broad audience. Official institutions and healthcare professionals should be aware of this evolving technology and publish up‐to‐date, accurate content to increase awareness about trauma management and help patients distinguish helpful information from misleading content. Background: Induction of labor (IOL) is common with one in four labors being induced in the United States (US). IOL has been associated with lower birth satisfaction. Video education can address gaps in education and promote anticipatory guidance. Prior studies in obstetrics have focused on randomized designs in English-speaking patients, leaving opportunities to explore how these tools perform in a pragmatic fashion with diverse patient populations. Our objective was to evaluate the effects of a video education tool on patient satisfaction and knowledge of IOL experience in English and Spanish-speaking patients scheduled for IOL at a tertiary care hospital. Methods: This was a single site pragmatic implementation of a quality improvement measure at an academic hospital. A bilingual survey was developed to evaluate the impact of an educational video on birth satisfaction and knowledge of IOL procedures. The video is freely available in English and Spanish. Baseline postpartum surveys were collected from June to July 2021. The video was subsequently recommended by providers when scheduling IOLs. Post-intervention surveys were collected from September to November 2021 after an implementation period. Groups were compared using t-tests for satisfaction scores and chi-square analyses for categorical variables. Results: Thirty-two participants completed the baseline survey and 72 completed the post-implementation survey with response rates of 88.9% and 91.1%, respectively. There were no statistically significant changes between mean total satisfaction scores (26.9 vs 28.0 out of 40.0, p = 0.290). 61 participants were English speaking (58%) and 43 Spanish (42%). Thirty (42%) patients reported watching the video. Correct identification of amniotomy use improved in the post-intervention group (p = 0.002). No changes were seen in anticipated duration of labor nor in whether patients would choose to be induced again. Conclusions: Recommendation of video education before scheduled IOL was associated with little improvement in knowledge about IOL, but no significant improvement in patient satisfaction. While video education has improved these measures in randomized trials, our study demonstrated that real-world implementation and patient uptake may be initially difficult. The present research aimed to determine the use and acceptance of video in the self-creation of assignments or evidence of learning as a strategy to mitigate plagiarism. This research adopted a mixed design, with an experimental, exploratory, and descriptive scope that reflects an innovative approach to meet this challenge. A non-probabilistic sample was considered, comprised of students in their first semester of higher education in the subject of Introduction to Programming at a public university in Mexico. The participants were divided into an intervention group and a control group. The acceptance of the use of the implemented strategy was evaluated using the Technology Acceptance Model and the results revealed the viability and usefulness of the strategy since the students in the intervention group stood out in the creation of their assignments compared to the control group. There was a positive and strong relationship between academic performance and the perceived usefulness of the strategy. We conclude by emphasizing the importance of teachers promoting the active role of students in the development of their work, to promote authentic learning and guarantee educational quality. Developing digital learning materials, especially video lectures, is becoming an important issue in education. The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) has made the creation of videos easier compared to the traditional approach. However, the education sector has yet to benefit from these advanced technologies fully. This research explores the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in creating digital learning videos. The study uses 43 selected articles and the PRISMA analysis model to search, classify, and content-filter the results. The findings show a noticeable growth in using AI to create digital learning videos, with 33 topics formed from keywords and articles published in various journals. The most influential works include automatic content extraction from videos and virtual teachers, and there is significant interest in ChatGPT. The main research topics include • developing effective AI models to convert text to video, • integrating personalization and interaction features, and • applying these digital learning videos in education and training. However, many issues remain to be researched, such as enhancing the context-understanding capabilities of AI models and building frameworks to evaluate the effectiveness of videos. AI-generated videos' quality, reliability, and flexibility are significant unresolved challenges, opening up research gaps for future scholars.

Abstract Background Firearm suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States. Suicide prevention experts have advocated for upstream interventions that can be implemented prior to the development of suicidal thoughts, particularly those that focus on lethal means safety (LMS; e.g., increasing secure firearm storage). To reach firearm owners with LMS messaging, researchers have developed suicide prevention training content which can be incorporated into firearm training courses. However, no study to date has evaluated impact of such training on firearm course students’ subsequent knowledge, attitudes, and openness related to secure firearm storage. Thus, the current study sought to examine both the feasibility and acceptability of a LMS-focused suicide prevention training module among firearm course students, as well as the impact of this module on students’ secure firearm storage-related knowledge, attitudes, and openness. Methods Firearm instructors (N = 6) and students in firearm classes (N = 83) were recruited to participate. Students were invited to complete voluntary, anonymous pre- and post-surveys during courses they attended that were led by these instructors. Instructors and students were also invited to complete a brief qualitative interview. Results Results indicated that firearm instructors and students in firearm courses found the module feasible and acceptable. Additionally, students’ knowledge about the relationship between firearms and suicide, openness to changing firearm storage practices, and endorsement of the importance of discussing firearms and suicide with fellow firearm owners, as well as willingness and confidence to do so, all significantly increased after viewing the module. Conclusions These findings provide strong support for the use of such culturally competent LMS messaging as upstream suicide prevention in settings such as concealed carry courses.

Objective The aim of this study is to explore general practice staff perspectives regarding a teaching concept based on instructional videos for conducting DR screenings. Furthermore, this study aims to investigate the competencies acquired by the staff through this teaching concept.Design and setting Qualitative cross-sectional study conducted in general practice clinics in the North Denmark Region.Method A teaching concept was developed based on instruction videos to teach general practice staff to conduct diabetic retinopathy screenings with automated grading through artificial intelligence. Semi-structured interviews were performed with 16 staff members to investigate their perspectives on the concept and acquired competencies.Results This study found no substantial resistance to the teaching concept from staff; however, participants’ satisfaction with the methods employed in the instruction session, the progression of learning curves, screening competencies, and their acceptance of a known knowledge gap during screenings varied slightly among the participants.Conclusion This study showed that the teaching concept can be used to teach general practice staff to conduct diabetic retinopathy screenings. Staffs’ perspectives on the teaching concept and acquired competencies varied, and this study suggest few adjustments to the concept to accommodate staff’s preferences and establish more consistent competencies.

Background and objective: Video-based learning may be beneficial in surgical education, both in the preparation for surgery and to evaluate surgical performance. The use of a video is not yet anchored in European urology residency programs, and it is unclear how frequently residents use videos. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether and how urology residents utilize videos to prepare for surgical procedures and evaluate their surgical performance. Methods: We conducted a European-wide, survey-based, needs assessment among urology residents. The survey was distributed electronically among the participants in the European Urology Residents Education Program 2022 and all the members of the European Society of Residents in Urology. Key findings and limitations: Seventy-two surveys were completed by the residents of 12 nationalities. Of the residents, 98.6% used videos in preparation, mainly for open, laparoscopic, and robotic procedures. YouTube was by far the most used source. Of the residents, 86% believed that a postsurgical video review would be helpful. In total, 39% of the residents actually had this possibility. Of them, 30% had the opportunity to do this together with a supervisor. Conclusions and clinical implications: This study demonstrated that European urology residents often use videos to prepare surgical procedures. Considering that the majority of the respondents use YouTube as the main source of videos, this seems not to be formalized within their training. Although most residents would value a postsurgical video review, preferably together with a supervisor, the latter is not available to the majority. We recommend the use of professional, and not public, video channels and easier access to postsurgical video review. Patient summary: Video-based learning may have an important role in surgical education. Videos often are a source of education for European urology residents to prepare for surgical procedures. Although most residents would appreciate a postsurgical video review or video-based coaching, this is not available to the majority of them.

This paper addresses eco-storytelling as the process of meaning-making in Greenpeace’s environmental videos, with a focus on semiotic and cognitive aspects within a multimodal framework. By combining insights from multimodal discourse analysis and cognitive semiotics, this study explores how Greenpeace’s videos construct environmental issues through the interplay of various modes across different layers of meaning. This study presents a semiotic space within Greenpeace’s videos, highlighting the interplay of signs at the core, involved in a situation and embedded in the worldview. This model allows differentiation of three layers of meaning within the videos: embodied, referential, and ideological. Eco-storytelling involves the strategic use of multimodal elements—visual and auditory modes, including verbal, nonverbal, and cinematic means. These elements construct narratives at embodied, referential, and ideological layers, aiming not only to inform about environmental issues but also to inspire viewers to engage in environmental stewardship and advocacy. The study examines the role of multimodal means in constructing each semiotic layer and investigates the process of conceptual integration based on Brandt’s theory of Mental Space Network. In this framework, embodied, referential, and ideological meanings interact through mental spaces to create a comprehensive narrative that underscores the urgency of environmental action. This research contributes to understanding the complex role of multimodal resources in eco-storytelling and highlights how Greenpeace’s videos foster environmental awareness.

Abstract Background Domestic and family violence (DFV) is a significant public health issue that poses a high risk to women, globally. Women experiencing DFV have higher rates of healthcare utilisation than women not experiencing DFV. Healthcare services are therefore well placed to address DFV and deliver education and awareness interventions to women. Video interventions are a strategy to deliver education to women, while overcoming barriers such as language, literacy, lack of rapport with clinician, or unwillingness to disclose. The current review will aim to further understand the characteristics, methods of evaluation, and outcomes of DFV video education interventions for perinatal women. Methods The review will be reported in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) statement. A systematic search will be conducted of the following databases: Medline, Embase, PsycINFO, PsycArticles, Scopus, and Web of Science Core Collection. Two independent reviewers will screen titles and abstracts against the inclusion criteria, followed by a full text screening of eligible articles. A third reviewer will resolve discrepancies. All study types will be included. Only studies published in English will be included. Risk of bias will be assessed using the Quality Assessment with Diverse Studies (QuADS) tool. Data will undergo an aggregate mixed method synthesis informed by The Joanna Briggs Institute, before being analysed using a thematic approach. Discussion This systematic review will provide evidence on best practice for the creation, delivery, and evaluation of DFV video interventions for women in the peripartum. In recent years, significant progress has been made in video-based person re-identification (Re-ID). The key challenge in video person Re-ID lies in effectively constructing discriminative and robust person feature representations. Methods based on local regions utilize spatial and temporal attention to extract representative local features. However, prior approaches often overlook the correlations between local regions. To leverage relationships among different local regions, we have proposed a novel video person Re-ID representation learning approach based on a graph transformer, which facilitates contextual interactions between relevant region features. Specifically, we construct a local relation graph to model intrinsic relationships between nodes representing local regions. This graph employs the architecture of a transformer for feature propagation, iteratively refining region features and considering information from adjacent nodes to obtain partial feature representations. To learn compact and discriminative representations, we have further proposed a global feature learning branch based on a vision transformer to capture the relationships between different frames in a sequence. Additionally, we designed a dual-branch interaction network based on multi-head fusion attention to integrate frame-level features extracted by both local and global branches. Finally, the concatenated global and local features, after interaction, are used for testing. We evaluated the proposed method on three datasets, namely iLIDS-VID, MARS, and DukeMTMC-VideoReID. Experimental results demonstrate competitive performance, validating the effectiveness of our proposed approach.

Naomi Rincón Gallardo (Carolina de Norte, 1979) realizó la Trilogía de la cuevas, un ciclo de video musical y performances compuesta por El viaje del formol (2017), Sangre pesada (2018) y Resiliencia tlacuache (2019). A partir de investigaciones llevadas a cabo entre Zacatecas y Oaxaca, Rincón Gallardo propone una forma de narración ficcional dedicada a mostrar subjetividades no normativas e historias enmarcadas en disputas socio-ambientales. Ante el despojo, la violencia y los neoexractivismos que enmarcan a la minería, esta artista interdisciplinar exhibe una alternativa construida a partir del mito para la pensar y escribir una serie de contrahistorias, al especular sobre una idea de futuro que ha sido negada. Este trabajo contrapone distintos modelos de paisaje, desde las escenas revolucionarias de Francisco Goitia hasta investigaciones artísticas paralelas dedicadas a la minería, con el fin de enfatizar las estrategias de Rincón Gallardo.

Introduction: Traditionally, surgical procedures are explained through consultations between the surgeon and the patient to ensure informed consent. Patient education enhances engagement and knowledge, aiding informed decision-making. This study aimed to assess the effect of an educational video on preoperative patient knowledge and satisfaction in the context of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) as an adjunct to the consent process. Methods: A prospective randomized controlled study involving 100 patients in dedicated elective orthopedic units in UK-based hospitals was conducted. After consultation with a dedicated knee surgeon and a preoperative education day for TKA run by dedicated orthopedic nurse specialists, patients were randomized into one of two limbs (video vs no video) at a 1:1 ratio. The treatment group (video group) was shown a video about the principles and steps of the procedure, including the recovery time. Following this, a 10-point knowledge test was completed, and patients rated their satisfaction with the preoperative education on a scale of 0–10. Results: Patients in the video limb group had a significantly greater mean knowledge score and greater satisfaction with preoperative education than patients who did not view the video. The video group (n = 49) had a mean knowledge score of 8.73 +/− 0.159 compared to 7.68 +/− 0.281 for the nonvideo limb (n = 50) (p < 0.05). The video group had a mean satisfaction score of 9.00 +/− 0.123 compared to 8.40 +/− 0.121 for the nonvideo limb group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Video-assisted consent in total knee arthroplasty improves preoperative knowledge and patient satisfaction when used as an adjunct in the consent process. Introduction: Video education is a commonly used patient education tool. However, the impact of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into video education remains unexplored. This study aimed to examine the acceptability of an AI-generated presenter in a patient information video about face-down positioning after vitreoretinal surgery. Method: We prospectively enrolled participants who were planned for vitreoretinal surgery in which postoperative face-down positioning was recommended at the Royal Adelaide Hospital between December 2022 and September 2023. Participants were preoperatively provided with an educational video presented by an AI-generated presenter, incorporated into a surveyredcap. A pre- and post-video questionnaire was administered electronically. Results: There were 15 participants included in the study. In the pre-video questionnaire, most participants rated their awareness of special equipment for positioning as “not aware” (33%) and “slightly aware” (33%). The median pre-video six-item Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Score was 12 (interquartile range 12–15). In the post-video questionnaire, most participants rated the video’s quality as “excellent” (73%) and would recommend it to others (73%). The majority of participants strongly agreed that they understood the AI presenter (60%), felt at ease with the presenter (60%), and trusted the presenter (60%). Four participants (22%) disagreed with the statement: “I was aware the presenter was computer generated.” Conclusions: Video-based education may provide information that patients find useful, particularly for physical maneuvers such as face-down positioning. Today, technology has permeated every corner of our lives and has significantly affected the field of education. In our country, the Movement for Increasing Opportunities and Improving Technology (FATIH) project implemented by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) is one of the most important initiatives expressing the place of technology in education. With the FATIH project, classrooms have been enriched with smart boards, creating a more interactive learning environment. In addition, the Education Information Network (EIN) was created to provide a comprehensive collection of digital resources for educators and students. EBA offers a wealth of instructional videos and interactive materials that allow teachers to improve their lessons and better interact with students. This study focuses on the evaluation of middle school science course videos and interactive content provided by EBA created by the Ministry of National Education. At this point, key variables such as duration, number of views, class distribution of the videos, and alignment with educational objectives were analyzed. In the study, a total of 924 lesson videos and 282 interactive materials from fifth to eighth grades were carefully reviewed by an expert science educator by watching each piece twice. In this paper, the author explores current perspectives on contemporary art projects through the concept of the archive. By applying a theoretical framework termed "concern for the archive", the author aims to elucidate complex relationships between the archive as a medium and the situated practices of contemporary art. The paper examines contemporary art as a form of temporary memory storage, particularly through the analysis of Tomáš Rafa's documentary films. It addresses two key questions: What specific aspects of concern for the archive can be identified in political or activist contemporary art? How does concern for the archive differ from archival care, and why is this distinction important?. Background: Firearm suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States. Suicide prevention experts have advocated for upstream interventions that can be implemented prior to the development of suicidal thoughts, particularly those that focus on lethal means safety (LMS; e.g., increasing secure firearm storage). To reach firearm owners with LMS messaging, researchers have developed suicide prevention training content which can be incorporated into firearm training courses. However, no study to date has evaluated impact of such training on firearm course students' subsequent knowledge, attitudes, and openness related to secure firearm storage. Thus, the current study sought to examine both the feasibility and acceptability of a LMS-focused suicide prevention training module among firearm course students, as well as the impact of this module on students' secure firearm storage-related knowledge, attitudes, and openness. Methods: Firearm instructors (N = 6) and students in firearm classes (N = 83) were recruited to participate. Students were invited to complete voluntary, anonymous pre- and post-surveys during courses they attended that were led by these instructors. Instructors and students were also invited to complete a brief qualitative interview. Results: Results indicated that firearm instructors and students in firearm courses found the module feasible and acceptable. Additionally, students' knowledge about the relationship between firearms and suicide, openness to changing firearm storage practices, and endorsement of the importance of discussing firearms and suicide with fellow firearm owners, as well as willingness and confidence to do so, all significantly increased after viewing the module. Conclusions: These findings provide strong support for the use of such culturally competent LMS messaging as upstream suicide prevention in settings such as concealed carry courses. Background: Domestic and family violence (DFV) is a significant public health issue that poses a high risk to women, globally. Women experiencing DFV have higher rates of healthcare utilisation than women not experiencing DFV. Healthcare services are therefore well placed to address DFV and deliver education and awareness interventions to women. Video interventions are a strategy to deliver education to women, while overcoming barriers such as language, literacy, lack of rapport with clinician, or unwillingness to disclose. The current review will aim to further understand the characteristics, methods of evaluation, and outcomes of DFV video education interventions for perinatal women. Methods: The review will be reported in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) statement. A systematic search will be conducted of the following databases: Medline, Embase, PsycINFO, PsycArticles, Scopus, and Web of Science Core Collection. Two independent reviewers will screen titles and abstracts against the inclusion criteria, followed by a full text screening of eligible articles. A third reviewer will resolve discrepancies. All study types will be included. Only studies published in English will be included. Risk of bias will be assessed using the Quality Assessment with Diverse Studies (QuADS) tool. Purpose: This randomized controlled trial aimed to ascertain the effect of a pre-procedure informational video on anxiety, pain perception, and satisfaction levels in patients undergoing amniocentesis. Methods: Patients were randomized into two groups: a video group who watched an informational video prior to the procedure, and a control group who received standard care. Anxiety was gauged both pre- and post-procedure via the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) score. Post-procedure, patients' perceived pain, anxiety, and satisfaction levels were evaluated using the Visual Analog Scale questionnaire (VAS). Results: Of 110 randomized patients, 100 completed the study and were included in the final analysis. No significant difference was noted in overall anxiety levels between the study and control groups. However, in-procedure anxiety was significantly lower in the video group compared to the control group (p = 0.04). Among patients undergoing amniocentesis for the first time, the subgroup analysis revealed reduced levels of anxiety during the procedure and diminished pain 10 min after the procedure in the video group compared to the control group. This article introduces Lester, a novel method to automatically synthesize retro-style 2D animations from videos. The method approaches the challenge mainly as an object segmentation and tracking problem. Video frames are processed with the Segment Anything Model (SAM) and the resulting masks are tracked through subsequent frames with DeAOT, a method of hierarchical propagation for semi-supervised video object segmentation. The geometry of the masks' contours is simplified with the Douglas–Peucker algorithm. Finally, facial traits, pixelation and a basic rim light effect can be optionally added. The results show that the method exhibits an excellent temporal consistency and can correctly process videos with different poses and appearances, dynamic shots, partial shots and diverse backgrounds. The proposed method provides a more simple and deterministic approach than diffusion models based video-to-video translation pipelines, which suffer from temporal consistency problems and do not cope well with pixelated and schematic outputs. The method is also more feasible than techniques based on 3D human pose estimation, which require custom handcrafted 3D models and are very limited with respect to the type of scenes they can process. Introduction: The aim of the study was to evaluate undergraduate medical students' knowledge and self-confidence to perform abscess incision after virtual reality-simulation or video lecture. Pre and post-knowledge assessment was conducted. Materials and Methods: This was a multicentre randomised controlled trial from October 2021 to January 2022. The study was carried out at two universities providing medical education. Undergraduate medical students were randomized into either fully immersive head mounted display virtual reality-simulation (VR) or video lecture. Pre- and post-learning surveys probed self-confidence and student's own assessment of competence. Participants were third-, fourth- and fifth-year medical students from the University of Eastern Finland and the University of Helsinki. All students were sent an email informing them of the opportunity to participate in this voluntary study. All willing students were included in the study. Results: 42 medical students participated in the study. Most were fourth year medical students, 52% of the participants had previously used VR in some context and the mean age of participants was around 25 years. Both methods increased knowledge and self-confidence equally. In VR subgroup, those with technical support available experienced greater learning than those without. Introduction: Traditional methods for assessing movement quality rely on subjective standardized scales and clinical expertise. This limitation creates challenges for assessing patients with spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), in whom changes in mobility can be subtle and varied. We hypothesized that a machine learning analytic system might complement traditional clinician-rated measures of gait. Our objective was to use a video-based assessment of gait dispersion to compare the effects of troriluzole with placebo on gait quality in adults with SCA. Methods: Participants with SCA underwent gait assessment in a phase 3, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of troriluzole (NCT03701399). Videos were processed through a deep learning pose extraction algorithm, followed by the estimation of a novel gait stability measure, the Pose Dispersion Index, quantifying the frame-by-frame symmetry, balance, and stability during natural and tandem walk tasks. The effects of troriluzole treatment were assessed in mixed linear models, participant-level grouping, and treatment group-by-visit week interaction adjusted for age, sex, baseline modified Functional Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (f-SARA), and time since diagnosis. Results: From 218 randomized participants, 67 and 56 participants had interpretable videos of a tandem and natural walk attempt, respectively. At Week 48, individuals assigned to troriluzole exhibited significant (p = 0.010) improvement in tandem walk Pose Dispersion Index versus placebo {adjusted interaction coefficient: 0.584 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.137 to 1.031]}. A similar, nonsignificant trend was observed in the natural walk assessment [coefficient: 1.198 (95% CI − 1.067 to 3.462)]. Further, lower baseline Pose Dispersion Index during the natural walk was significantly (p = 0.041) associated with a higher risk of subsequent falls [adjusted Poisson coefficient: − 0.356 [95% CI − 0.697 to − 0.014)]. Conclusion: Using this novel approach, troriluzole-treated subjects demonstrated improvement in gait as compared to placebo for the tandem walk. Machine learning applied to video-captured gait parameters can complement clinician-reported motor assessment in adults with SCA. The Pose Dispersion Index may enhance assessment in future research. Objectives: This study examined the research trends in children’s video content analyses in south Korea. Methods: This study investigated 83 articles published in Korea between 1989 and 2023 that included content analysis of children’s video. This study identified research trends by examining publication patterns over time, characteristics of the analyzed videos, and research methodologies employed. Frequencies and percentages were used to analyze the data. Results: The results indicated a quantitative increase in research output since the 2000-2009 period, with publications extending beyond the field of education to include areas such as journalism and imaging. Most studies analyzed videos recommended for all ages or preschool children, primarily focusing on animation, with varying numbers of videos analyzed. Additionally, many studies selected themes as the unit of analysis, employed quantitative and deductive research approaches, and often did not present of inter-coder reliability measure. Conclusion: Based on the findings, this study recommends future research focus on videos targeting infants and elementary school students, who have been underrepresented in existing studies, and investigate video types beyond animation. Additionally, including inter-coder reliability is recommended to enhance the methodological rigor of content analysis studies. Incorporating these suggestions could lead to more comprehensive results and a more robust use of analytical methods in the field of children’s video content analysis. Digital video coding aims to reduce the bitrate and keep the integrity of visual presentation. High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) can effectively compress video content to be suitable for delivery over various networks and platforms. Finding the optimal coding configuration is challenging as the compression performance highly depends on the complexity of the encoded video sequence. This paper evaluates the effects of motion content on coding performance and suggests an adaptive encoding scheme based on the motion content of encoded video. To evaluate the effects of motion content on the compression performance of HEVC, we tested three coding configurations with different Group of Pictures (GOP) structures and intra refresh mechanisms. Namely, open GOP IPPP, open GOP Periodic-I, and closed GOP periodic-IDR coding structures were tested using several test sequences with a range of resolutions and motion activity. All sequences were first tested to check their motion activity. The rate–distortion curves were produced for all the test sequences and coding configurations. Our results show that the performance of IPPP coding configuration is significantly better (up to 4 dB) than periodic-I and periodic-IDR configurations for sequences with low motion activity. For test sequences with intermediate motion activity, IPPP configuration can still achieve a reasonable quality improvement over periodic-I and periodic-IDR configurations. However, for test sequences with high motion activity, IPPP configuration has a very small performance advantage over periodic-I and periodic-IDR configurations. Simple Summary: The flipped classroom (FC) method allows students to first familiarize themselves with educational material independently, and then apply and deepen their understanding through active learning activities during subsequent sessions. Although this approach has been extensively applied in various fields, little is known about its implementation in basic veterinary subjects. This study explores the implementation of FC in veterinary biochemistry; physiology; and anatomy, with pre-class material primarily provided in video format and in-class sessions dedicated to quizzes and interactive activities. The findings reveal robust student engagement. A survey conducted after the first semester revealed that students generally perceived the pre-class material and quizzes favorably, with a significant majority supporting the FC approach. However, by the second semester, preferences evolved, as more students favored traditional lectures over FC, bringing up issues about the pros and cons of FC implementation. Feedback on FC highlighted enhanced comprehension and self-management as key benefits while also highlighting the challenge of time constraints. This study indicates that the adoption of the FC approach can be positively embraced in basic veterinary subjects if it avoids an excessive workload on students. In conclusion, this study suggests that FC can be successfully integrated into basic veterinary education, maintaining a balance that prevents overwhelming students with excessive workloads. Flipped classroom (FC) is a teaching method where traditional learning roles are inverted. Students are provided with material in advance and are expected to study the content prior to in-class sessions. These sessions are subsequently utilized to clarify doubts and examine in greater depth the previously acquired knowledge. Despite the widespread nature of its approach in health education, its application in basic veterinary subjects remains poorly described. This study explores the implementation of the FC approach in veterinary physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, and embryology. Pre-class material was mainly provided in video format, and class sessions facilitated quizzes and interactive activities aimed to reinforce understanding. The findings indicate a high level of student involvement and effective class preparation, as evidenced by over 84% of students participating in FC in-class sessions and generally achieving satisfactory scores on quizzes. A survey conducted at the end of the first semester shows that a high proportion of students positively valued pre-class material (>90%), quizzes (82%), and the FC approach (66%). However, by the end of the second semester, traditional lectures were preferred by more students than FC (45% and 25%, respectively), while 30% of the students mentioned having no preference between the two methods. Analysis of open-ended responses underscored positive facets of the FC approach, including self-organization, enhanced understanding, and availability of pre-class material. However, it also emphasized challenges associated with FC, such as the significant time and effort required. In conclusion, this study suggests that the FC approach can be well received in integrated basic veterinary subjects if it does not imply an excessive student workload, underscoring the potential benefits of a blended teaching approach that combines elements of both traditional and FC methods. The hydrological monitoring of flow data is important for flood prevention and modern river management. However, traditional contact methods are increasingly struggling to meet the requirements of simplicity, accuracy, and continuity. The video-based river discharge measurement is a technique to monitor flow velocity without contacting the water body by using the image-recognition algorithms, which has been verified to have the advantages of full coverage and full automation compared with the traditional contact technique. In order to provide a timely summary of the available results and to inform further research and applications, this paper reviews and synthesizes the literature on the general implementation routes of the video-based river discharge measurement technique and the principles and advances of today's popular image-recognition algorithms for velocity detection. Then, it discusses the challenges of image-recognition algorithms in terms of image acquisition conditions, parameter uncertainties, and complex meteorological and water environments. It is concluded that the performance of this technique can be improved by enhancing the robustness and accuracy of video-based discharge measurement algorithms, minimizing weather effects, and improving computational efficiency. The development of contactless methods to assess the degree of personal hygiene in elderly people is crucial for detecting frailty and providing early intervention to prevent complete loss of autonomy, cognitive impairment, and hospitalisation. The unobtrusive nature of the technology is essential in the context of maintaining good quality of life. The use of cameras and edge computing with sensors provides a way of monitoring subjects without interrupting their normal routines, and has the advantages of local data processing and improved privacy. This work describes the development an intelligent system that takes the RGB frames of a video as input to classify the occurrence of brushing teeth, washing hands, and fixing hair. No action activity is considered. The RGB frames are first processed by two Mediapipe algorithms to extract body keypoints related to the pose and hands, which represent the features to be classified. The optimal feature extractor results from the most complex Mediapipe pose estimator combined with the most complex hand keypoint regressor, which achieves the best performance even when operating at one frame per second. The final classifier is a Light Gradient Boosting Machine classifier that achieves more than 94% weighted F1-score under conditions of one frame per second and observation times of seven seconds or more. Objectives: To study the effect of informing patients with video before cardiac surgery on intensive care experience. Methods: This randomized controlled trial was conducted between December 2021 and December 2022 in the cardiovascular surgery clinic of a public hospital with the participation of 90 patients (45 patients in experimental group - 45 patients in control group) who were scheduled to undergo cardiac surgery. Patient Information Form and Intensive Care Experiences Scale were used for study data. Patients in experimental group were informed with video about the intensive care before cardiac surgery. Results: It was found that the total score on ICES of the experimental group (74.5±3.9) was statistically and significantly higher than that of the control group (63.9±6.4) (p<0.001). The sub-dimension of awareness of surroundings (20.8±1.7), the frightening experiences (18.6±1.0), and the recall of experience (18.5±1.5) and satisfaction with care (16.7±1.4) were found to be statistically significantly higher in the experimental group, than in the control group sub-dimension scores (p<0.001). Conclusion: It was found that informing patients with video about the intensive care setting and process before cardiac surgery had a positive effect on the intensive care experience. Introduction: Studies of learning conversations in medical education suggest these interactions can be supervisor driven, monologic and may involve poor recall of events. Educators often use camouflaged comments to avoid upsetting learners, which can interfere with meaning making. Using video of clinical practice within learning conversations could address some of these potential limitations. Despite educators using video of clinical practice in learning conversations for decades, we could find no synthesis of empirical studies to provide insight into the influence of video in learning conversations. Therefore, we conducted a scoping review to answer the question "How does video of clinical practice influence learning conversations in post-graduate medical education?" Methods: We employed a scoping review methodology. MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO and ERIC databases were searched for articles from 1 January 2010 to 1 January 2022. Major inclusion criteria were postgraduate medical learners and video of clinical practice that was used in a learning conversation. The qualitative data relating to video's influence on learning conversations were synthesised and thematically analysed. Results: Five articles were included in the synthesis. We generated four themes from the qualitative data about the influence of video on the learning conversation. Video: (1) captures performance data that can be co-analysed, (2) enables the learning conversation to take place in a different environment, (3) changes the teaching approaches of educators and (4) may promote learner agency and voice. Conclusion: Video may influence learning conversations, and video's influence is likely entangled with the educational design associated with its use. Background/Objectives: Cerebral palsy (CP) causes movement and posture challenges due to central nervous system damage, requiring lifelong management. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was limited access to facility-based treatments, which increased the demand for home-based therapies and digital resources. We analyzed the qualitative and quantitative aspects of YouTube videos focusing on CP therapy for children. Methods: A total of 95 videos were evaluated for content quality using the modified DISCERN (mDISCERN) tool and Global Quality Scale (GQS). The therapeutic program efficacy was assessed via the International Consensus on Therapeutic Exercise and Training (i-CONTENT) tool, Consensus on Therapeutic Exercise Training (CONTENT) scale, and Consensus on Exercise Reporting Template (CERT), and popularity was measured by the video power index (VPI). Results: YouTube-based therapeutic videos for children with CP generally exhibit reliability in video content and effectiveness in therapeutic programming, and no correlations were found between video popularity and quality. However, the qualitative analysis reveals insufficient mention of uncertainty in the treatment principles within the video content as well as a lack of detailed treatment descriptions encompassing aspects such as intensity, frequency, timing, setting, outcome measurement during and post-treatment, and safety considerations within therapeutic programs. In particular, this tendency was consistent regardless of the uploader's expertise level and the classification of the neuromotor therapy type in contrast to that of the exercise type. Conclusions: YouTube-based content for CP children still has significant limitations in how substantive viewers, such as caregivers, can acquire tailored information and apply practical information to their exercise and treatment programs. Active, real-time observation of behavior is a time-consuming task, which is heavily resource-limited. At the same time, simultaneous observation of several individuals is often paramount to increase statistical rigor and eliminate potential temporal or environmental bias, especially in natural settings. This paper describes a low-cost video recording system created by using “off-the-shelf” components. The system is easy to use and can automatically record a wide variety of behavior and related ecological interactions and evolutionary processes. The system is sensitive enough to record the behavior of a broad range of animals from planarians, and small insects to humans. It can also be used to measure the behavior of plants. The system will also work during daylight hours or at night and can run continuously and autonomously for 48 hours, or longer if the video capture is motion-triggered or if bigger capacity batteries and data storage facilities are used.

This article examines the integration of video technology in extension reforms to enhance agricultural extension services in Uganda, focusing on Kamwenge district. Utilizing data from desk reviews, surveys, key informant interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs), the study examines the prerequisites for video integration, particularly under the Sasakawa Global 2000 rice cultivation project. Adhering to research ethics and data credibility, findings reveal strong approval for videos as a powerful tool to bridge the extension gap, providing timely and reliable content to farmers and strengthening connections between service providers and communities. The integration of video into the Government of Uganda’s inter-ministerial statement and the 5-year Development Strategy and Investment Plan, facilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), signals a commitment to leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for agricultural progress. However, the study identifies significant challenges, including funding constraints and unclear actor roles that threaten the sustainability of video-mediated extension. Thus, urgent measures are required to ensure adequate funding and clear stakeholder roles. This research underscores the need for sustained investment and stakeholder collaboration to maximize the impact of video technology in agricultural development in Uganda and elsewhere.

Background Video-recordings review of patient encounters is reported to improve the clinical performance of medical students. However, evidence on specific remediation strategies or outcomes are lacking. We aimed to implement videorecording-based remediation of standardized patient encounters among medical students, combined with preceptor one-on-one feedback or peer group discussion, and evaluate the effectiveness of the two remediation methods using objective structured clinical examination (OSCE).Methods Following standardized patient encounters, 107 final-year medical students were divided into two groups based on different remediation methods of video review: (1) precepted video review with preceptor feedback (N = 55) and (2) private video review and subsequent peer group discussion under supervision (N = 52). All students underwent twelve-stations of OSCE both before and after the video review. Students’ pre- and post-remediation OSCE scores, self-efficacy level in patient encounters, and level of educational satisfaction with each method were assessed and compared between different video-based remediation methods to evaluate their respective effects.Results After remediation, the total and subcomponent OSCE scores, such as history taking, physical examination, and patient – physician interaction (PPI), among all students increased significantly. Post-remediation OSCE scores showed no significant difference between two remediation methods (preceptor module, 79.6 ± 4.3 vs. peer module, 79.4 ± 3.8 in the total OSCE score). As the information age develops, the scale and form of data become more diverse and diverse. Therefore, people need to use effective means to process information. For large-scale data mining problems, a clustering-based kernel matrix inner product filtering method is introduced to decompose the original quadratic programming problem into multiple sub-problems to support parallel training. And a Spark-based multiple submodels parallel support vector machine is proposed. By introducing open-source tools such as OpenCV, image feature extraction can be performed on large-scale video data. Finally, combined with the designed parallel support vector machine algorithm, video facial and expression recognition is carried out. These experiments confirmed that the research method achieved a maximum acceleration ratio of 2090 times when processing Covtype datasets. The research model could achieve an accuracy of over 99 %. Under the maximum data scale experiment, the research model improved prediction accuracy by 21 percentage points with an acceptable additional time cost of about 4 min only. Task parallel processing could more fully utilize cluster performance, increasing by approximately 3.5 m/s2 from 30 to 150 cores. The research model had the highest recognition accuracy for facial expressions, further demonstrating the effectiveness and superiority of this method. The research method has improved the efficiency of big data analysis and mining, and is of great significance in parallel analysis of video data.

Este artigo explora a ação estética e performativa em contexto digital e foca na análise da influência dos dispositivos digitais na narrativa performativa teatral, tanto em contexto de criação como em contexto de exibição. O estudo abarca as produções da 20.ª edição do Festival Anual de Teatro Académico de Lisboa, apresentadas online durante a pandemia da COVID-19, e a produção de uma vídeo-performance criada especificamente para um artefacto de media art digital, visando compreender os fenómenos estéticos da transição da performance física para o espaço digital. Metodologicamente, este artigo traça uma breve contextualização histórica do recurso ao vídeo como registo e elemento estético de performances teatrais e contextualiza as três linguagens artísticas convocadas para este estudo — vídeo, cinema e performance —, bem como as suas influências nas produções do festival. Para além da observação dos signos sensoriais que emergem da experimentação do cruzamento entre a performance, o vídeo e as artes plásticas, no quadro da vídeo-performance do artefacto, este estudo analisa essa mesma performance, bem como as performances do festival, a partir da grelha do cruzamento dos agentes e dos vetores da ciberperformance, de Pedro Veiga (2022), reapropriada e expandida a esta investigação.

On the island of Fuvahmulah, Maldives, community members have learned to co-exist with resident tiger sharks. Rapidly becoming a premier destination for shark tourism, Fuvahmulah demonstrates a novel circumstance for how this often-polarizing industry can both bolster the local economy and strengthen shark conservation efforts. Focusing on personal storytelling, this project delivers a 5-part video series and interactive website featuring video portraitures of locals involved in and impacted by the industry. The impact of human-induced climate change poses a significant danger to both the natural environment and societies worldwide. Despite being widely acknowledged, the situation persists and continues to deteriorate. Communicating this issue beyond the scientific community is a complex and difficult endeavor. Climate change is unfolding on a time scale that is difficult for humans to grasp and comprehend. My Capstone project is an example of using storytelling, rather than scientific results, to create a bridge that connects people to the world of climate change science and those who dedicate themselves to its pursuit. Storytelling has the power to invoke emotions, increase knowledge, and inspire action. It serves as a vital method of passing down wisdom from one generation to the next. By embracing storytelling across generations, we can preserve a baseline of what is considered normal and prevent it from shifting. My short film, "Climate Stories From Generations of Changemakers”, shares the personal stories and emotions of young students and senior professors at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, whose work is highly impacted by climate change. Through a series of interviews and conversations, the film offers glimpses into the life stories of these changemakers, showcasing their actions and hoping to inspire others to take action as well. Rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematika Siswa dapat dipengaruhi oleh media dan model yang diterapkan Guru dalam proses pembelajaran matematika. Oleh karena itu, dalam proses pembelajaran diupayakan menggunakan media dan model pembelajaran yang tepat sehingga siswa lebih mudah dalam memahami konsep yang dipelajari. Salah satu alternatif yang dapat digunakan yaitu menggunakan model Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) dengan bantuan media video. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis yang dimiliki Siswa ketika diajar dengan model LSQ berbantuan video lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan model Problem-Based Learning (PBL) yang ada di SMK Gondang. Populasi pada penelitian ini yaitu Siswa kelas X TKRO, dengan X TKRO 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan X TKRO 1 sebagai kelas kontrol. Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dan jenis penelitiannya adalah quasi-experimental design. Desain yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tes, sedangkan analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji independent sample t-test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, diperoleh bahwa nilai thitung (2,515) > ttabel (1,997) maka H1 diterima. Dengan demikian disimpulkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis Siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model LSQ berbantuan video lebih baik dibandingkan Siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model PBL.

INTRODUCTION: In the education of medical professionals, thorough theoretical and practical preparation of future healthcare professionals is highly important. Current developments and technological advances offer considerable opportunities for the design and construction of educational e-resources, including various types of multimedia and interactive materials. As their production is relatively expensive and time consuming, both in terms of content and technology, it is worth developing them for a wider, nationwide audience. MATERIALS AND METHODS: E-materials, such as decision-based games, educational videos, multimedia atlases, and infographics, were designed and produced for the Integrated Educational Platform of the Ministry of Education and Science in Poland as part of a national EU project for post-secondary education of medical caregivers, medical electronics technicians, and information technology technicians. The materials included topics from anatomy, physiology, lifethreatening conditions, first aid, health promotion and prevention, and psychophysical development. The research group consisted of fourth-year medical students who, as part of the subject of scientific research, performed an analysis of ematerials in terms of their educational value and evaluation of their technological aspects. Methods such as interviews, reviews, analysis, and discussion were used. RESULTS: After the analysis carried out, the main characteristics (advantages) and recommendations considered important by the knowledge recipients in terms of a) content and methodology, and b) technology, were identified. These include: a) the way the information is conveyed, visualisation of the content presented, highlighting, concise delivery of the content, motivation for learning, and b) the way the content is presented, visualization of the message, visual and auditory impact, changing the speed of content playback, ability to work on different devices. Recommendations for the creation of e-resources are: a) accuracy of the presented content, detail of the content, b) navigation, the ability to go back to earlier stages of the game, additional videos, sounds that convey the realism of the situation. CONCLUSIONS: Feedback from future users of educational multimedia materials is necessary. Their analysis should be taken into account when creating e-resources. 1) Content: content should be appropriately matched to the recipient's knowledge level, and presented in a concise manner. 2) Methodology: Multimedia should enable independent decisionmaking at different stages of learning, as well as include patterns of behaviour, especially in life-threatening conditions. It is important to highlight and visualise the content, combining visual and auditory cues 3) Technology: the content presented should reflect reality (high production quality), enable proper navigation, and be accessible on various devices.

This study aims to investigate the EFL lecturer's beliefs in teaching speaking using video to fifth-semester students in a private university in Indonesia. A qualitative method was employed as the design of this study, involving an in-depth exploration of the lecturer's perspectives and practices. An English teacher was purposefully selected as the research subject of the study. The data were collected through stimulated recall and semi-structured interviews, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the lecturer's beliefs and classroom practices. The findings were categorized into six major themes: 1) the source of the lecturer's belief in teaching speaking using video; 2) the purpose of using video in teaching speaking skills; 3) the reasons for using video in teaching speaking skills; 4) the reflection of those beliefs in classroom practices; 5) considerations in choosing the videos; and 6) challenges faced by the lecturer in teaching speaking using video. The results revealed that there was no discrepancy between the teacher's beliefs and teaching practices. The lecturer believes that using video in teaching speaking classes enables students to learn individually, which is reflected in his teaching practice. For example, the lecturer allows students to watch videos individually, facilitating a more personalized learning experience. This alignment between belief and practice underscores the importance of integrating multimedia tools in language teaching, as they can enhance student engagement and autonomy. The study highlights the potential of videos as a valuable resource in language education, particularly in improving speaking skills among EFL learners

The essay will focus on the complex relationship Grazia Toderi (Padua, 1963) has established with the photographic medium over time. Prominent in her formative years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, this relationship, although changed, has survived even when Toderi’s production focused mainly on video and immersive light installations. The suspended atmospheres of the first photographs were soon replaced by video recorded with a fixed camera in which minimal movements and ephemeral gestures become the protagonists, followed by projections in which terrestrial and celestial cartographies merge. According to this perspective and with reference to unpublished archival material, the essay will investigate the artist’s first exhibitions, in a period spanning from her participation in the Aperto ’93 section of the Venice Biennale to the personal show set up in 1998 at the Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea. The essay will provide crucial insights into: the relationship between the private and public spheres in the artist’s photographic and video practices; the presence of autobiographical elements and their mixing with references drawn from high and popular culture; the use of the body and language; the work of art as a field of confrontation/encounter among opposite energies; the critical reception of Toderi’s exhibition activity during the nineties.
