Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), as porous materials, have great potential for exploring high-performance electrochemiluminescence (ECL) probes. However, the constrained applicability of MOFs in the realm of ECL biosensing is primarily attributed to their inadequate water stability, which consequently impairs the overall ECL efficiency. Herein, we developed a competitive ECL biosensor based on a novel tightest structural ruthenium-based organic framework emitter combining the proximity hybridization-induced catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) strategy and the quenching effect between the Ru-MOF and ferrocene for detecting paraquat (PQ). Through a simple hydrothermal synthesis strategy, ruthenium and 2,2ʹ-bipyrimidine (bpm) are head-to-head self-assembled to obtain a novel tightest structural Ru-MOF. Due to the metal–ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) effect between ruthenium and the bpm ligand and the connectivity between the internal chromophore units, the Ru-MOF exhibits strong ECL emissions. Meanwhile, the coordination-driven Ru-MOF utilizes strong metal–organic coordination bonds as building blocks, which effectively solves the problem of serious leakage of chromophores caused by water solubility. The sensitive analysis of PQ is realized in the range of 1 pg/mL to 1 ng/mL with a detection limit of 0.352 pg/mL. The tightest structural Ru-MOF driven by the coordination of ruthenium and bridging ligands (2,2ʹ-bipyrimidine, bpm) provides new horizons for exploring high-performance MOF-based ECL probes for quantitative analysis of biomarkers. Strategies to make more efficient use of sunlight have been developed. Different synthesis parameters have been studied for the production of multiphase photocatalysts. In this work, for the first time, the performance of a one-step nitrogen-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of TiO 2 using TiO 2 –P25 as a Ti precursor was investigated for the degradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation. Urea and ethylenediamine (EDA) were evaluated as nitrogen sources. The produced photocatalysts had a rod-like nanostructure with the formation of mesopores. The resulting phase was a heterojunction of anatase, TiO 2 (B), and rutile, which enhanced charge separation. The presence of nitrogen during the hydrothermal reaction altered the morphology of TiO 2 , impacting the crystallite size. The U photocatalyst (urea source) achieved the best result for visible light with prior adsorption, degrading around 11 % of methylene blue in 5 h. This shows that it is possible to obtain a photocatalyst with superior performance to TiO 2 –P25 under both ultraviolet and visible light. Concerning environmental issues, including global warming and the reduction of hydrocarbon assets, the utilization of environmentally sustainable energy production is imperative nowadays. In this regard, water electrolysis is considered the most prominent and ecologically sustainable technique for the production of hydrogen. However, owing to its sluggish OER, designing electrode materials with remarkable efficiency becomes crucial for boosting the functioning of water electrolysis. In the present investigation, we successfully developed the SnSe catalyst incorporated into graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) via a simple hydrothermal approach. The various approaches were used to characterize g-CN/SnSe nanocomposite. Meanwhile, g-CN/SnSe nanocomposite demonstrated exceptional catalytic properties for OER under 1.0 M alkaline electrolyte (KOH), which exhibited low overpotential (241 mV) to obtain ideal j (10 mA cm−2) and an exceptional stability (20 h). It also demonstrated a low onset potential (1.27 V), a significant electrochemical active surface area (ECSA) of 592.5 cm2 and an impressive Tafel value (38 mV dec−1), significantly superior to the pure SnSe nanomaterial. The observed improved performance can be attributed to enhanced morphological properties and significant surface area. The above-reported nanocomposite (g-CN/SnSe) shows great potential for OER and other electrochemical systems because of its numerous active sites, faster electron transfer process, exceptional durability and good electrical conductivity. Owing to their flexibility and high thermal resistance, para-aramid based Kevlar™ fabric substrates are an ideal candidate for obtaining flexible gas sensors for new-generation wearable technologies. The morphology of the surface of the substrate where the target gas comes into contact directly affects the important features of the sensor such as detection limit, selectivity, and response. In this context, a feasible technique is introduced to enhance the efficiency of flexible gas sensors utilizing ZnO/Kevlar™, entailing the modification of ZnO morphology. ZnO based gas sensing layers were deposited on Kevlar™ fabric substrates by a two-stage method. Initially, seed layer was produced on Kevlar™ fabric using the ultrasonic bath method, with five different seed layer processing times ranging from 1 min to 20 min. In the nucleation, all nanostructured layers were deposited by hydrothermal method with constant parameters and under the same conditions. As the seeding time was increased, nanorods (1D) formed on the surface became flakes (2D), leading to considerable improvement in NH3 gas sensing properties. The sensor with a 5-min seeding time showed a sensitivity of 49 % at an optimal operating temperature of 190 °C, while the sensor produced in 20 min showed the best response performance with 169 % at 130 °C for 50 ppm NH3 gas. The increase in seeding time not only reduced the operating temperature of the gas sensor through the conversion from 1D nanostructure to 2D, but also significantly increased the sensor response. Under constant hydrothermal conditions and solution concentration, the density per unit area increases. However, after 10 min of seeding, the length of nanorods shortens and turn into a rod-flake hybrid morphology. A superior sensor performance was demonstrated for the samples examined. Bimetallic nickel‐iron based oxides are regarded as one of the most promising catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). In this study, we show that the precursor metal salts can affect the OER activity of the resulting Ni/Fe oxide under the same hydrothermal synthesis conditions. Pure sulfate, pure nitrate and mixed sulfate/nitrate metal salts were used to fabricate NiFe based oxide materials and to study the importance of the precursor choice for the OER. The results show that the nature of the precursor used in the synthesis of the bimetallic nickel‐iron materials can influence different multi‐phase catalysts to form which effects the OER. VO 2 @C core–shell structure is designed and prepared to boost the NH 4 + storage of VO 2. VO 2 @C core–shell composite delivers a specific capacity of ∼300 mAh/g at 0.1 A/g, superior to the values of VO 2 (∼238 mAh/g). [Display omitted] Aqueous nonmetallic ion batteries have garnered significant interest due to their cost-effectiveness, environmental sustainability, and inherent safety features. Specifically, ammonium ion (NH 4 +) as a charge carrier has garnered more and more attention recently. However, one of the persistent challenges is enhancing the electrochemical properties of vanadium dioxide (VO 2) with a tunnel structure, which serves as a highly efficient NH 4 + (de)intercalation host material. Herein, a novel architecture, wherein carbon-coated VO 2 nanobelts (VO 2 @C) with a core–shell structure are engineered to augment NH 4 + storage capabilities of VO 2. In detail, VO 2 @C is synthesized via the glucose reduction of vanadium pentoxide under hydrothermal conditions. Experimental results manifest that the introduction of the carbon layer on VO 2 nanobelts can enhance mass transfer, ion transport and electrochemical kinetics, thereby culminating in the improved NH 4 + storage efficiency. VO 2 @C core–shell composite exhibits a remarkable specific capacity of ∼300 mAh/g at 0.1 A/g, which is superior to that of VO 2 (∼238 mAh/g) and various other electrode materials used for NH 4 + storage. The NH 4 + storage mechanism can be elucidated by the reversible NH 4 + (de)intercalation within the tunnel of VO 2 , facilitated by the dynamic formation and dissociation of hydrogen bonds. Furthermore, when integrated into a full battery with polyaniline (PANI) cathode, the VO 2 @C//PANI full battery demonstrates robust electrochemical performances, including a specific capacity of ∼185 mAh·g−1 at 0.2 A·g−1, remarkable durability of 93 % retention after 1500 cycles, as well as high energy density of 58 Wh·kg−1 at 5354 W·kg−1. A hydrothermal method was employed to synthesize the precursor of nano-zirconium carbide, which was subsequently heat treated at high temperatures under vacuum to obtain finely dispersed nanometer-sized zirconium carbide powder through a carbothermic reduction reaction. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was utilized to examine the microstructure of the precursors obtained under different hydrothermal conditions and carbon contents. The effects of different heat treatment temperatures on the microstructure of the products were analyzed. Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) confirmed the boundary coating structure of the hydrothermal precursor and provided insights into the phase structure of the nanometer-sized zirconium carbide. The reaction mechanism and temperature involved in the carbothermic reaction process were determined through calculations. Furthermore, the energy, phase and microstructure of the reaction were investigated using Thermogravimetric Analysis (TG-DSC) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) at different temperatures. The obtained results revealed that the zirconium carbide precursor was synthesized via the hydrothermal method exhibited a core-shell structure with a boundary coating, which not only ensured uniform contact between C and ZrO 2 particles but also facilitated the formation of zirconium carbide. The results show that the most suitable process parameters are Zr/C 1: 7, 240 °C and 24 h. The thermodynamic calculation results show that ZrO 2 combines with carbon to form CO and ZrC when the temperature reaches 1656.56 °C. As the temperature rises, CO reacts with ZrO 2 to form ZrC and CO 2. TG-DSC shows that the carbothermal reduction reaction starts at 1100 °C and reaches its peak at 1418 °C. XRD analysis confirms that when the temperature reached 1450 °C ZrC appeared. At 1600 °C, the phase transition of ZrC is basically completed. Hydrogen zirconium phosphate (HZP) is a ceramic material with the formula HZr 2 (PO 4) 3 that can potentially offer anhydrous protonic conductivity, with thermostability for the intrinsic protons up to 650 °C, and good chemical stability in aqueous environments or acid gases. Despite the attraction of these features for electrolyte applications, such as gas separation, fuel cells or electrolysers, work on this material remains in its infancy. A possible reason for this lack of attention may be related to the complexity to obtain the HZP material as a pure phase. For this reason, the current article examines a new hydrothermal synthesis method to produce the ammonium precursor, NH 4 Zr 2 (PO 4) 3 , in its phase pure form, and consequently a refined overall route to produce the desired HZP target material. In the synthesis of the ammonium precursor, we underscore the precise control of reaction conditions that are necessary to obtain the pure NH 4 Zr 2 (PO 4) 3 material, both in its cubic and hexagonal structural polymorphs. For reaction times of 10 h, the cubic phase is obtained by employing a hydrothermal temperature of 150 °C and an aqueous ammonia volume of 2.1 mL, while the hexagonal phase is obtained for a hydrothermal temperature of 200 °C and an aqueous ammonia volume between 2.3 and 2.4 mL. Subsequently, we investigate the required conditions to convert hexagonal NH 4 Zr 2 (PO 4) 3 fully to hexagonal HZr 2 (PO 4) 3 via thermal treatment at 600 °C for 5 h, assessed by a combination of X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. In this work, La-doped In2O3 microflowers were successfully prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method. Doping La into the In2O3 lattice causes lattice distortion of In2O3, leading to the change of morphology from cubic to nanosheets. The gas sensing tests show that La doping significantly improves the sensing performance to n-butanol compared to the pristine In2O3. 5% La-In2O3 exhibits the highest sensing response (~ 61.34 to 100 ppm n-butanol) among the various doping amounts of La, which is six times higher than that of the pristine In2O3 (~ 10.12) at the optimal operating temperature of 320 °C. This sample also show short response and recovery times, high selectivity and long-term stability. The enhanced sensing performance is mainly attributed to (1) the tunned bandgap by doping La, which effectively improves the electron transfer ability and produces a thicker electron depletion layer, and (2) the unique morphology and abundant lattice defects of the La-In2O3 samples, providing increased adsorption and reactive sites. Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) stands out as an eco-friendly, cost-effective method for generating renewable carbon-based materials from biomass. The HTC process yields products such as hydrochars and carbon dots (CDs), possessed of notable photocatalytic capabilities due to their unique physicochemical features. Additionally, pairing traditional photocatalysts with hydrochar derivatives elevates their performance, rendering them more effective. Recent times have witnessed a surge in interest in these hydrochar based photocatalysts (HC-photocatalysts). Their appeal stems from multiple attributes: impeccable performance, adaptability to visible light, and adjustable physicochemical properties. This review delves deep into the evolving landscape of these HC-photocatalysts, segmenting them into three distinct categories: hydrochars, hydrochar-based CDs (HC-CDs), and hydrochar-based composites (HC-composites). For each category, we dissect their synthesis routes, unravel the photocatalytic mechanisms, and explore various enhancement strategies. We further traverse their versatile applications, spanning environmental treatment, disinfection, energy conversion, and organic synthesis. In the end, we spotlight the prevailing challenges and uncharted territories in the domain of HC-photocatalysts. In essence, this review serves as a guide, furnishing a theoretical foundation and steering directions for future explorations and tangible implementations of HC-photocatalysts. The present study investigates the photocatalytic properties of hydrothermally synthesized TiO2 nanowires (NWs) for CO2 reduction in H2O vapor. It has been demonstrated that TiO2 NWs, thermally treated at 500–700 °C, demonstrate an almost tenfold higher yield of products compared to the known commercial powder TiO2 P25. It has been found that the best material is a combination of anatase, TiO2-B and rutile. The product yield increases with increasing heat treatment temperature of TiO2 NWs. This is associated with an increase in the degree of crystallinity of the material. It is shown that the best product yield of the CO2 reduction in H2O vapor is achieved when the TiO2 NW photocatalyst is heated to 100 °C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, algae have emerged as a promising feedstock for biofuel production, due to their eco-friendly, sustainable, and renewable nature. Various methods, including chemical, biochemical, and thermochemical processes, are used to convert algal biomass into biofuels. Pyrolysis, a widely recognized thermochemical technique, involves high temperature and pressure to generate biochar and bio-oil from diverse algal sources. Various pyrolytic processes transform algal biomass into biochar and bio-oil, including low pyrolysis, fast pyrolysis, catalytic pyrolysis, microwave-assisted pyrolysis, and hydropyrolysis. These methods are utilized to convert a range of microalgae and cyanobacteria into biochar and bio-oil. In this publication, we will discuss catalytic pyrolysis using mesoporous materials, such as SBA-15. Mesoporous catalysts have earned significant attention for catalytic reactions, due to their high surface area, facilitating the better distribution of impregnated metal. Pyrolysis conducted in the presence of a mesoporous catalyst is viewed more as efficient, compared to reactions occurring within the smaller microporous cavities of traditional zeolites. SBA-15 supports with incorporated Zr and/or Ce were synthesized using the direct hydrothermal synthesis method. This investigation explores the potential of enhancing aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) through the introduction of a novel cathode material, NH4V4O10 (NVO), combined with reduced graphene oxide (rGO). Utilizing Density Functional Theory (DFT), it was hypothesized that the incorporation of rGO would increase the interlayer spacing of NVO and diminish the charge transfer interactions, thus promoting enhanced diffusion of Zn2+ ions. These theoretical predictions were substantiated by experimental data acquired from hydrothermal synthesis, which indicated a marked increase in interlayer spacing. Significantly, the NVO–rGO composite exhibits remarkable cyclic durability, maintaining 95% of its initial specific capacity of 507 mAh g−1 after 600 cycles at a current density of 5 A g−1. The electrochemical performance of NVO–rGO not only surpasses that of pristine NVO but also outperforms the majority of existing vanadium oxide cathode materials reported in the literature. In this study, a trisodium citrate (TSC)-assisted hydrothermal method is utilized to prepare three-dimensional hydroxyapatite (3D HA). Understanding the role of TSC in the preparation of 3D HA crystals may provide valuable methods to design advanced biomaterials. As one of the indexes of solution supersaturation, the initial pH (ipH) value can not only directly affect the nucleation rate, but also affect the growth of HA crystals. In this work, the effect of the ipH on the microstructure, particle size distribution, and specific surface area of the 3D HA is explored. Results showed that the morphology of 3D HA transformed from a bundle to a dumbbell ball and then a dumbbell with an increase in the ipH. A corresponding mechanism of such a structural evolution was proposed, providing inspiration for the fabrication of innovative 3D HA structures with enhanced biological functionality and performance. In this work, β-NiS nanoparticles (NPs) were efficiently prepared by a straightforward hydrothermal process. The difference in morphology between these NiS NPs was produced by adding different amounts of thiourea, and the corresponding products were denoted as NiS-15 and NiS-5. Through electrochemical tests, the specific capacity (Cs) of NiS-15 was determined to be 638.34 C g−1 at 1 A g−1, compared to 558.17 C g−1 for NiS-5. To explore the practical application potential of such β-NiS NPs in supercapacitors, a hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) device was assembled with activated carbon (AC) as an anode. Benefitting from the high capacity of the NiS cathode and the large voltage window of the device, the NiS-15//AC HSC showed a high energy density (Ed) of 43.57 W h kg−1 at 936.92 W kg−1, and the NiS-5//AC HSC provided an inferior Ed of 37.89 W h kg−1 at 954.79 W kg−1. Both HSCs showed excellent cycling performance over 6000 cycles at 10 A g−1. The experimental findings suggest that both NiS-15 and NiS-5 in this study can serve as potential cathodes for high-performance supercapacitors. This current synthesis method is simple and can be extended to the preparation of other transition metal sulfide (TMS)-based electrode materials with exceptional electrochemical properties. It is prominent and imperative to synthesize gas-sensitive materials using energy-efficient and environmentally friendly methods to enhance their properties. The current paper employs hydrothermal method porous reduced graphene oxide (P-rGO) and zinc oxide (ZnO) with flower-like structure complexes (PGZ) to detect the acetone gas. The gas sensitivity of the PGZ sensor demonstrate a response of 30.38 for 50 ppm acetone, accompanied by a rapid response recovery time of 5 s/7 s at operating temperature of 240 °C. Moreover, the remarkable long-term stability (<15 % fluctuation over 9 cyclic response cycles and 7 weeks of intermittent testing) of the PGZ gas sensor ensures its suitability for practical applications. The P-rGO enlarges the specific surface area of the material, which is conducive to accelerating the electron transfer in the reaction as well as the adsorption and desorption of the target gas, resulting in a rapid response recovery time. The porous structure can also effectively inhibit the agglomeration and growth of ZnO nanoparticles, thus improving long-term stability. Hollow mesoporous hydroxyapatite (HM-HAP) composites coated with titania are prepared to increase the stability and catalytic performance of titania for azo dyes present in the wastewater system. In this work, HM-HAP particles were first synthesized by a hydrothermal method utilizing the CaCO3 core as a template and then coated with titania to form TiO2/HM-HAP composites. Utilizing SEM, XRD, XPS, BET, FTIR, EDS, UV–vis DRS spectroscopy, and point of zero charge (PZC) analysis, the coating morphological and physicochemical parameters of the produced samples were analyzed. The photocatalytic efficiency of the synthesized coated composites was assessed by the degradation of methyl red (MR) dye in water. The results indicated that TiO2/HM-HAP particles could efficiently photodegrade MR dye in water under UV irradiation. The 20% TiO2/HM-HAP coating exhibited high catalytic performance, and the degradation process was followed by the pseudo-first-order (PFO) kinetic model with a rate constant of 0.033. The effect of pH on the degradation process was also evaluated, and the maximum degradation was observed at pH 6. The analysis of degraded MR dye products was investigated using LC-MS and FTIR analysis. Finally, a good support material, HM-HAP for TiO2 coatings, which provides a large number of active adsorption sites and has catalytic degradation performance for MR dye, was revealed. Oxalic acid (OA) is a predominant constituent in kidney stones, contributing to 70–80% of all cases. Rapid detection of OA is vital for the early diagnosis and treatment of kidney stone conditions. This work introduces a novel electrochemical sensing approach for OA, leveraging vanadium disulfide (VS2) nanoflowers synthesized via hydrothermal synthesis. These VS2 nanoflowers, known for their excellent electrocatalytic properties and large surface area, are used to modify glassy carbon electrodes for enhanced OA sensing. The proposed OA sensor exhibits high sensitivity and selectivity across a wide linear detection range of 0.2–20 μM, with an impressively low detection limit of 0.188 μM. In recent years, cerium dioxide (CeO2) has attracted considerable attention owing to its remarkable performance in various applications, including photocatalysis, fuel cells, and catalysis. This study explores the effect of nickel (Ni) doping on the structural, thermal, and chemical properties of CeO2 nanorods, particularly focusing on oxygen vacancy-related phenomena. Utilizing X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), alterations in crystal structure and peak shifts were observed, indicating successful Ni doping and the formation of Ni2O3 at higher doping levels, likely due to non-equilibrium reactions. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) revealed changes in oxygen release mechanisms, with increasing Ni doping resulting in the release of lattice oxygen at lower temperatures. Raman spectroscopy corroborated these findings by identifying characteristic peaks associated with oxygen vacancies, facilitating the assessment of Ni doping levels. Ni-doped CeO2 can catalyze the ultrasonic degradation of methylene blue, which has good application prospects for catalytic ultrasonic degradation of organic pollutants. Overall, this study underscores the substantial impact of Ni doping on CeO2 nanorods, shedding light on tailored catalytic applications through the modulation of oxygen vacancies while preserving the nanorod morphology. In this study, we fabricated an efficient and low-cost carbon-doped titania (C–TiO2) counter electrode (CE) as a substitute for platinum (Pt) in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). By varying different weight ratios, C–TiO2 samples were synthesized through the hydrothermal synthesis method followed by calcination in a tube furnace. The doctor blade coating method was used to deposit thin films of the synthesized samples onto the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrates. Structural and morphological properties were studied by using various analytical techniques. Moreover, the electrochemical and photo-conversion characteristics of the fabricated CEs were investigated. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) results of the fabricated CEs showed electrocatalytic activity comparable to the Pt in the DSSCs. Meanwhile, photovoltaic measurement results showed the best-performing 15% C–TiO2 CE having 1.56% power conversion efficiency (PCE) as compared to Pt, which is 2.12%. In this work, a simple one-step hydrothermal synthesis of La doped SnO 2 nanocomposites was studied. The structure, morphology, specific surface area, and chemical composition were determined by XRD, SEM, BET, and XPS techniques. The gas sensing performance of SnO 2 and La/SnO 2 nanocomposites with varied La doping dosages on n-butanol gas was systematically investigated. The results manifested that under the testing environment (50 % relative humidity and 30 °C), La doped SnO 2 nanocomposite sensor presented high response (69), excellent selectivity, good repeatability and long-time stability to n-butanol gas at 160 °C. Especially, the 7 mol% La doped SnO 2 sensor displayed a 5.9 times higher response to 50 ppm n-butanol than the SnO 2 sensor. In comparison with bare SnO 2 , La doping increased the band gap value of 7 mol% La/SnO 2 nanocomposite by 6.23 %, decreased particle size by 11.83 %, and increased the oxygen defect concentration by 6.07 %. Due to the synergistic effect of the above factors, the gas sensing performance of La doped SnO 2 nanocomposites towards n-butanol gas was enhanced. Zinc indihuhium sulfide (ZIS), among various semiconductor materials, shows considerable potential due to its simplicity, low cost, and environmental compatibility. However, the influence of precursor anions on ZIS properties remains unclear. In this study, we synthesized ZIS via a hydrothermal method using four different anionic precursors (ZnCl2/InCl3, Zn(NO3)2/In(NO3)3, Zn(CH3CO2)2/In(CH3CO2)3, and Zn(CH3CO2)2/In2(SO4)3), resulting in distinct morphologies and crystal structures. Our findings reveal that ZIS produced from Zn(CH3CO2)2/In2(SO4)3 (ZIS-AceSO4) exhibited the highest photocatalytic CO2 reduction efficiency, achieving a CO production yield of 134 μmol g−1h−1. This enhanced performance is attributed to the formation of more zinc and indium vacancy defects, as confirmed by EDS analysis. Additionally, we determined the energy levels of the valence band maximum (VBM) and the conduction band minimum (CBM) via UPS and absorption spectra, providing insights into the band alignment essential for photocatalytic processes. These findings not only deepen our understanding of the anionic precursor's impact on ZIS properties but also offer new avenues for optimizing photocatalytic CO2 reduction, marking a significant advancement over previous studies. Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) is an attractive semiconductor. Thus, bandgap engineering toward photoelectronic applications is appealing yet not well studied. Here, we report the incorporation of sulfur atoms into MoO3, using sulfur powder as a source of sulfur, via a self-developed hydrothermal synthesis approach. The formation of Mo-S bonds in the MoO3 material with the synergistic effect of sulfur doping and oxygen vacancies (designated as S-MoO3−x) is confirmed using Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR). The bandgap is tuned from 2.68 eV to 2.57 eV upon sulfur doping, as confirmed by UV-VIS DRS spectra. Some MoS2 phase is identified with sulfur doping by referring to the photoluminescence (PL) spectra and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), allowing significantly improved charge carrier separation and electron transfer efficiency. Therefore, the as-prepared S-MoO3−x delivers a sensitive photocurrent response and splendid cycling stability. This study on the synergistic effect of sulfur doping and oxygen vacancies provides key insights into the impact of doping strategies on MoO3 performance, paving new pathways for its optimization and development in relevant fields. Aiming at the problems of the large storage, complex composition, low comprehensive utilization rate, and high environmental impact of coal gangue, this paper carried out experimental research on the preparation of iron oxide red from high-iron gangue by calcination activation, acid leaching, extraction, and the hydrothermal synthesis of coal gangue. The experimental results show that when the calcination temperature of coal gangue is 500 °C, the calcination time is 1.5 h, the optimal concentration of iron removal is 6 mol/L, the acid leaching temperature is 80 °C, the acid leaching time is 1 h, and the liquid——solid mass ratio is 4:1; the iron dissolution rate can reach 87.64%. A solvent extraction method (TBP-SK–hydrochloric acid system) was used to extract the leachate, and a solution with iron content up to 99.21% was obtained. By controlling the optimum hydrothermal conditions (pH = 9, temperature 170 °C, reaction time 5 h), high-purity iron oxide red product can be prepared; the yield is 80.07%. The red iron oxide was characterized by XRD, SEM-EDS, particle-size analysis, and ICP-OES. The results show that the red iron oxide peak has a cubic microstructure, an average particle size of 167.16 μm, and a purity of 99.16%. The quality of the prepared iron oxide red product meets the requirement of 98.5% of the "YHT4 Iron oxide Standard for ferrite". It can be used as a raw material to produce high-performance soft magnetic ferrite. In summary, this experimental study on the preparation of iron oxide red from coal gangue is of great significance for the comprehensive utilization of coal gangue to realize the sustainable development of the environment and economy. A solid-liquid composite lubrication coating capable of controlling friction and wear has received widespread attention among researchers. Here, a novel self-lubricating ceramic coating was created through a combination of thermal spraying, hydrothermal reactions, and vacuum impregnation. Its mechanical properties, tribological performance, and self-lubrication mechanism were thoroughly analyzed. The results indicate that the thermally sprayed ceramic coating contained carbon spheres and perfluoropolyether. As a result of the in-situ synthesis of carbon spheres, the coating exhibited enhanced mechanical properties. Compared to the single solid lubricant coating, the solid-liquid composite coating decreased the coefficient of friction by 46.7% to 0.112 and decreased the wear rate from 1.25 × 10−6 mm3/m N to 3.70 × 10−7 mm3/m N. It is proposed in this work that solid-liquid composite coatings can be prepared by utilizing the defects such as pores and microcracks inherent in thermal spray coatings for introducing solid lubricating phases and liquid lubricating phases. In this work, Ni3V2O8 (NVO) and Ni3V2O8-reduced graphene oxide (NVO-rGO) are synthesized hydrothermally, and their extensive structural, morphological, and electrochemical characterizations follow subsequently. The synthetic materials' crystalline structure was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and its unique marigold-like morphology was observed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The chemical states of the elements were investigated via X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), Galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD), and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were used to assess the electrochemical performance. A specific capacitance of 132 F/g, an energy density of 5.04 Wh/kg, and a power density of 187 W/kg were demonstrated by Ni3V2O8-rGO. Key electrochemical characteristics were b = 0.67; a transfer coefficient of 0.52; a standard rate constant of 6.07 × 10−5 cm/S; a diffusion coefficient of 5.27 × 10−8 cm2/S; and a series resistance of 1.65 Ω. By employing Ni3V2O8-rGO and activated carbon, an asymmetric supercapacitor with a specific capacitance of 7.85 F/g, an energy density of 3.52 Wh/kg, and a power density of 225 W/kg was achieved. The series resistance increased from 4.27 Ω to 6.63 Ω during cyclic stability tests, which showed 99% columbic efficiency and 87% energy retention. It is of great scientific and economic value to recycle waste poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) into high-value PET-based metal organic frameworks (MOFs) and further convert it into porous carbon for green energy storage applications. In the present study, a facile and costeffective hydrothermal process was developed to direct recycle waste PET bottles into MIL-53(Al) with a 100% conversation, then the MOFderived porous carbon was assembled into electrodes for high-performance supercapacitors. The results indicated that the as-synthesized carbon exhibited high SSA of 1712 m2 g-1 and unique accordion-like structure with hierarchical porosity. Benefit to these advantageous characters, the assembled three-electrode supercapacitor displayed high specific capacitances of 391 F g-1 at the current density of 0.5 A g-1 and good rate capability of 73.6% capacitance retention at 20 A g-1 in 6 mol L-1 KOH electrolyte. Furthermore, the assembled zinc ion capacitor still revealed outstanding capacitance of 335 F g-1 at 0.1 A g-1, excellent cycling stability of 92.2% capacitance retention after 10 000 cycles and ultra-high energy density of 150.3 Wh kg-1 at power density of 90 W kg-1 in 3 mol L-1 ZnSO4 electrolyte. It is believed that the current work provides a facile and effective strategy to recycle PET waste into high-valuable MOF, and further expands the applications of MOF-derived carbons for high-performance energy storage devices, so it is conducive to both pollution alleviation and sustainable economic development. In this study, we investigated the influence of pH on the hydrothermal synthesis of copper (II) oxide CuO nanostructures with the aim of tuning their morphology. By varying the pH of the reaction medium, we successfully produced CuO nanostructures with three distinct morphologies including nanoparticles, nanorods, and nanosheets according to the pH levels of 4, 7, and 12, respectively. The observed variations in surface morphology are attributed to fluctuations in growth rates across different crystal facets, which are influenced by the presence of intermediate species within the reaction. This report also compared the structural and optical properties of the synthesized CuO nanostructures and explored their potential for photoelectrochemical glucose sensing. Notably, CuO nanoparticles and nanorods displayed exceptional performance with calculated limits of detection of 0.69 nM and 0.61 nM, respectively. Both of these morphologies exhibited a linear response to glucose within their corresponding concentration ranges (3–20 nM and 20–150 nM). As a result, CuO nanorods appear to be a more favorable photoelectrochemical sensing method because of the large surface area as well as the lowest solution resistance in electroimpedance analysis compared to CuO nanoparticles and nanosheets forms. Recent development and expansion in electrochemical water splitting processes have driven the research community to explore an efficient, economical and eco-friendly electrocatalyst. Within this domain, the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) presents a notable challenge due to its inherent inefficiency arising from a sluggish four-electron transfer process. In the present study, we investigated a hydrothermal technique for synthesizing an electrocatalyst featuring MnO-embedded CoFe2O4 spinel oxide, which is firmly anchored onto a nickel foam (NF) substrate. The electrocatalyst demonstrated impressive performance, exhibiting exceptional stability over an 82-h endurance test. A significantly smaller overpotential was required for OER, achieving a notable decrease of 179 mV. Furthermore, it displayed a Tafel value of approximately 68 mV dec−1 at current density of 10 mA cm−2 for OER, underscoring its exceptional electrocatalytic performance. In light of these compelling findings, the current research has introduced a feasible, environmentally friendly, and potentially high-impact strategy towards the development of cost-effective transition metal-based catalysts, highly suitable for use as electrodes in electrochemical water splitting applications. [Display omitted] Designing and developing suitable oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts with high activity and stability remain challenging in electrolytic water splitting. Hence, NiFe@NC@MoS 2 core-bishell composites wrapped by molybdenum disulphide (MoS 2) and nitrogen-doped graphene (NC) were prepared using hydrothermal synthesis in this research. NiFe@NC@MoS 2 composite exhibits excellent performance with an overpotential of 288 mV and a Tafel slope of 53.2 mV·dec−1 at a current density of 10 mA·cm−2 in 1 M KOH solution, which is superior to commercial RuO 2. NC and MoS 2 bishells create profuse edge active sites that enhance the adsorption ability of OOH* while lowering the overall overpotential of the product and improving its oxygen precipitation performance. The density function theory(DFT) analysis confirms that the layered MoS 2 in NiFe@NC@MoS 2 provides additional edge active sites and enhances electron transfer, thus increasing the intrinsic catalytic activity. Quartz glass powder is a type of silicon-rich industrial waste. Accumulation of this waste has led to resource wastage and environmental pollution. In this paper, quartz glass powder is used as raw material for preparing xonotlite through hydrothermal synthesis. The effects of Ca/Si (C/S) molar ratio, liquid/solid ratio, reaction temperature, and reaction time on the conversion of quartz are studied. The phase and structural changes of glass powder are analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Based on this, the conversion mechanism of quartz in glass powder is explained. The dissolution rate of quartz in an alkaline solution is a critical factor that restricts hydrothermal reactions. The conversion rate of quartz can be effectively increased by raising reaction temperature and extending reaction time. When the reaction temperature is 240 °C and the reaction time reaches 14 h, the conversion of quartz can reach 94.5 wt%. This study aims to enhance electrochemical energy storage in supercapacitors by optimizing the synthesis temperature of MoO 3 nanostructures using a hydrothermal technique. MoO 3 nanostructures were synthesized using a hydrothermal technique, with reaction temperatures ranging from 140 to 230 °C for 24 h. The materials were analyzed using various techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy. The findings indicate that at 200 °C, a pure hexagonal phase of MoO 3 was obtained, while different temperatures resulted in a combination of orthorhombic and hexagonal phases. The SEM analysis demonstrated that the morphology of the MoO 3 nanostructures varied depending on the synthesis temperature. These variations encompass the particles, spherical planar structures, and nanorods. The prepared samples were subjected to electrochemical analysis to explore their electrochemical properties, including cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD). The electrochemical performances of the prepared samples varied depending on the temperature at which the MoO 3 samples were prepared, resulting in different morphologies. The sample prepared at 220 °C exhibited the highest specific capacitance (C S) of 330 F/g, a minimal charge-transfer resistance (R CT) of 1800 Ω, an energy density of 16.50 Wh/kg, and a power density of 150 W/kg with symmetric and asymmetric device C S values of 125 and 115 F/g, respectively, compared to the other prepared samples. The observed outcomes can be attributed to the diverse morphology of MoO 3 nanostructures and the high electrochemical active surface area (ECSA) of 7.43 × 10−5 F/cm2 that were synthesized at different hydrothermal temperatures. This diversity in morphology and ECSA leads to the presence of active surface area sites, thereby enhancing electrochemical activity. These findings highlight the effect of synthesis temperature on the morphology, crystal structure, and electrochemical performance of MoO 3 nanostructures for supercapacitor applications. Like-caviar molybdenum ferrite nanoparticles (MoFe2O4 NPs) have been successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal route in the presence of the negative surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)). SDS acts as a template, stabilizer, and stops the aggregating process through storage. The mean crystal size of MoFe2O4 NPs rises with decorating it with Al2O3. Based on SEM analysis, the shapes of MoFe2O4, Al2O3, and their composite demonstrated like-caviar, like-brain cells, and like-grains, respectively. Al2O3 has been chosen to incorporate with spinel MoFe2O4 to make it color more light, this crucial step is necessary to enhance their optical characteristics. FTIR spectra observed the MoFe2O4 NPs are inverse spinel. The photo-decolorization test employs indigo carmine (IC) as a model pollutant. The quantum yields (Φ) of IC dye decolorization with studied photocatalysts are low, which may be created by quencher materials, dimerization of dye molecules, and photophysical deactivation processes (ISC process). Moreover, the photocatalytic activity of using MoFe2O4 raised after being decorated with alumina, which revealed an increase in the surface acidity, hydroxyl group adsorption, size, band gap, pHpzc of MoFe2O4 from 2.9–3.6 to 4.2–5.9 after decorated alumina. This pH is suitable for decolorizing IC dye, which has a pH of solution equal to 5.3.

Cerium vanadate/modified bentonite (CeVO4/mbt) nanocomposite with different composition percentages was synthesized through a simple one-step hydrothermal method at 180 ℃, and then its photocatalytic activity was evaluated by decolorizing methylene blue (MB) in an aqueous solution under light exposure. In order to increase the surface area as an important parameter in photocatalytic processes, bentonite was modified by ball mill method. The structural and optical properties of the synthesized composites were determined by XRD, FT-IR, DRS, FESEM, EDS, and BET measurements. XRD and EDS results confirmed the successful synthesis of pure CeVO4. FESEM images and EDS mapping showed a proper distribution of rice-like CeVO4 nanoparticles on bentonite. The removal efficiency of MB with only 0.1 g of CeVO4/mbt nanocomposite in 15 min was about 99%, which is significant compared to neat bentonite and pure CeVO4 with efficiency of 30% and 57%. The mentioned nanocomposite followed the first-order kinetics, had a reaction rate constant equal to 0.1483 min–1, and showed acceptable stability in five consecutive cycles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The investigation of electrode materials for urea level determination (non-enzymatic) is advantageous to monitor patient's clinical health and prevention of milk adulteration. Chalcogenides have prospective applications in electrocatalysis because of their fast charge transfer and large specific surface area in terms of non-enzymatic sensing via redox reactions, which is of great significance. However, despite their tremendous relevance, they continue to present significant problems. To address this issue, a new parkerite-type compound, Ni3Bi2Se2, was synthesized using the capping agent sodium laurel sulfate through a hydrothermal process. The physical characterization of the ternary chalcogenide Ni3Bi2Se2 was done by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, and photoluminescence. The analytical performances of the suggested sensor electrode, including sensitivity, the limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), stability, and durability, were obtained by various electrochemical techniques. The lower limit of detection (LOD-6.05 µM), sensitivity (10.9 mA µM−1 cm−2) and lower limit of quantification (LOQ-18.35 µM) were derived using the calibration curve. Moreover, it provides accurate results when detecting urea in human urine samples. We present a study on the hydrothermal synthesis of BaTiO 3 utilizing NaTi 3 O 6 (OH)- (H 2 O) 2 nanowires, which was conducted by controlling temperature, alkalinity and time. Initially, increased temperature has promoted the synthesis of BaTiO 3 and induce a change in the morphology. When the temperature increases within the range of 90 °C–210 °C, the morphology of the product transitions from nanoparticle to spindle-shaped to nanowires. Then, a time-dependent experiment was conducted to investigate the mechanisms involved in the transformation of the morphology. The formation of nanoparticle occurs through the process of dissolution-crystallization, while the formation of BaTiO 3 nanowires is attributed to hydrothermal ion exchange. Also, the hydrothermal process is characterized by grain aggregation and grain growth. By investigating the synthesis and morphology evolution of BaTiO 3 , this work holds significant potential for the synthesis of BaTiO 3 nanowires or other perovskite-type MTiO 3 employing titanate as a precursor. Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have versatile applications in luminescence, whereas identifying optimal synthesis conditions has been challenging due to numerous synthesis parameters and multiple desired outcomes, creating an enormous search space. In this study, we present a novel multi-objective optimization strategy utilizing a machine learning (ML) algorithm to intelligently guide the hydrothermal synthesis of CQDs. Our closed-loop approach learns from limited and sparse data, greatly reducing the research cycle and surpassing traditional trial-and-error methods. Moreover, it also reveals the intricate links between synthesis parameters and target properties and unifies the objective function to optimize multiple desired properties like full-color photoluminescence (PL) wavelength and high PL quantum yields (PLQY). With only 63 experiments, we achieve the synthesis of full-color fluorescent CQDs with high PLQY exceeding 60% across all colors. Our study represents a significant advancement in ML-guided CQDs synthesis, setting the stage for developing new materials with multiple desired properties. Optimizing the synthesis for efficient luminescent materials requires consideration of a large number of parameters. Carbon dots (CDs) have emerged as significant fluorescent nanomaterials due to their bright, stable fluorescence, good biocompatibility, facile synthesis, etc. They are widely used in various scientific and practical applications, particularly in combination with mesoporous, florescent, or magnetic nanomaterials to enhance their properties. Recent research has focused on employing CDs and their composites in drug analysis, drug loading, biological imaging, disease diagnosis, and temperature sensing, with a growing interest in their biological and medical applications. In this study, we synthesized blue-fluorescent S, N-co-doped CDs (cys-CDs) using hydrothermal synthesis with L-cysteine and sodium citrate. These resulting cys-CD particles were approximately 3.8 nm in size and exhibited stable fluorescence with a quantum yield of 0.66. By leveraging the fluorescence quenching of the cys-CDs, we developed a rapid and sensitive method for baicalein detection, achieving high sensitivity in the low micromolar range with a detection limit for baicalein of 33 nM. Our investigation revealed that the fluorescence-quenching mechanism involved static quenching and inner-filter effect components. Overall, cys-CDs proved to be effective for accurate quantitative baicalein detection in real-world samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LaFeO3 thin films were successfully epitaxially grown on single-crystalline SrTiO3 substrates by the one-step hydrothermal method at a temperature of 320 °C in a 10 mol/L KOH aqueous solution using La(NO3)3 and Fe(NO3)3 as the raw materials. The growth of the films was consistent with the island growth mode. Scanning electronic microscopy, elemental mapping, and atomic force microscopy demonstrate that the LaFeO3 thin films cover the SrTiO3 substrate thoroughly. The film subjected to hydrothermal treatment for 4 h exhibits a relatively smooth surface, with an average surface roughness of 10.1 nm. X-ray diffraction in conventional Bragg–Brentano mode shows that the LaFeO3 thin films show the same out-of-plane orientation as that of the substrate (i.e., (001)LaFeO3||(001)SrTiO3). The in-plane orientation of the films was analyzed by φ-scanning, revealing that the orientational relationship is [001]LaFeO3||[001]SrTiO3. The synthesis of zeolites from local resources has been an attractive route to address the demand for more economical means in the production of zeolites for commercial applications. In particular, Philippine bentonite -- a local clay material --has been used as a raw ingredient to synthesize zeolites, faujasite-type (FAU), and analcime-type (ANA) via hydrothermal synthesis. The silicon-aluminum ratio (SAR) and crystallization temperature were varied to investigate the conditions in the synthesis of pure FAU and ANA-type zeolites. X-ray diffraction allowed the identification of zeolite phases upon comparison to reference patterns from the International Zeolite Association database. The sample with the highest degree of crystallinity of 98% (ANA-type) was prepared at a temperature of 150 °C and an initial SAR of 1.18. This sample also exhibited the largest particle size of 29.1 µm in diameter. Scanning electron micrographs showed octahedral, spherical, and cross morphologies of the products, with average particle size ranging from 1.24 (± 0.13) to 29.1 (± 1.66) µm. The transformation of Philippine bentonite to different types of zeolites demonstrates the viability of local clays as raw resource material for hydrothermal synthesis of a wide range of zeolite frameworks. Zinc oxide nanoparticles in the form of particles and rods were synthesized using the hydrothermal method. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) examination was performed. The results of the SEM tests showed the nanoscale size of zinc oxide nanoparticles was (75 nm) for particles and (150 nm) for rods. An X-ray diffraction examination was carried out, and a comparison was made between the diffraction pattern of the ZnO nanoparticle and the rods. The results showed that the ZnO nanoparticle is in the hexagonal wurtzite phase of the structure of the particles and rods. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (particles and rods) produced by the hydrothermal method have been used as an additive in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer matrix to form PVA–ZnO NPs composite thin films. The optical properties of the membrane were studied using ultraviolet–visible examination, which showed a decrease in the energy gap of the composite thin film compared to the pure membrane. While the electrical properties of composite thin film, including resistivity, mobility and majority carrier charge carriers of composite thin film, were measured using the Hall effect measurement. In this work, flexible Cu2−xS films on nylon membranes are prepared by combining a simple hydrothermal synthesis and vacuum filtration followed by hot pressing. The films consist of Cu2S and Cu1.96S two phases with grain sizes from nano to submicron. Doping Se on the S site not only increases the Cu1.96S content in the Cu2−xS to increase carrier concentration but also modifies electronic structure, thereby greatly improves the electrical properties of the Cu2−xS. Specifically, an optimal composite film with a nominal composition of Cu2−xS0.98Se0.02 exhibits a high power factor of ~150.1 μW m−1 K−2 at 300 K, which increases by ~138% compared to that of the pristine Cu2−xS film. Meanwhile, the composite film shows outstanding flexibility (~97.2% of the original electrical conductivity is maintained after 1500 bending cycles with a bending radius of 4 mm). A four-leg flexible thermoelectric (TE) generator assembled with the optimal film generates a maximum power of 329.6 nW (corresponding power density of 1.70 W m−2) at a temperature difference of 31.1 K. Rationally controlling the morphology and microstructure of the zeolite crystals could play a significant role in optimizing their physicochemical properties and catalytic performances for application in various zeolite-based heterogeneous catalysis processes. Among different controlling strategies, the utilization of zeolite growth modifiers (ZGMs), which are molecules capable of altering the anisotropic rates of crystal growth, is becoming a promising approach to modulate the morphology and microstructural characteristics of zeolite crystals. In this mini-review, we attempt to provide an organized overview of the recent progress in the usage of several easily available polymer-based growth modifiers in the synthesis of some commonly used microporous zeolites and to reveal their roles in controlling the morphology and various physicochemical properties of zeolite crystals during hydrothermal synthesis processes. This review is expected to provide some guidance for deeply understanding the modulation mechanisms of polymer-based zeolite growth modifiers and for appropriately utilizing such a modulation strategy to achieve precise control of the morphology and microstructure of zeolite crystals that display optimal performance in the target catalytic reactions. In this work, using nano MIL-96 (Al) as the precursor, a series of the layered (AlO) 2 OH·VO 3 composite superstructures with different morphologies and V-oxide contents were prepared by combining calcination and hydrothermal synthesis. Among which, the HBC 650 ·V 4 superstructure is composed of the amorphous Al 2 O 3 /C, V-oxide, and the fluffy structure of (AlO) 2 OH, thus the superstructure can enhance the stability, increase the active center, and shorten Zn2+ diffusion, respectively. It is commendable that, the HBC 650 ·V 4 superstructure exhibits a high specific capacity of 180.1 mAh·g−1 after 300 cycles at 0.5 A·g−1. Furthermore, the capacity retention can be as high as 99.6 % after 5000 cycles at a high current density of 5.0 A·g−1, showing superior long cycling stability. Importantly, the in-situ XRD patterns and ex-situ analysis revealed the structural changes and reaction mechanisms of the HBC 650 ·V 4 superstructure during Zn2+ insertion/extraction. Therefore, the HBC 650 ·V 4 superstructure prepared using Al-MOF exhibits the advanced AZIBs performance. Synthesis of nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) using urea and ascorbic acid as carbon sources is addressed in this study using a microwave-assisted hydrothermal technique. The samples were characterized by ultraviolet, photoluminescence (PL) and transmission electron microscopy analyses, which confirmed the formation of CDs. Besides PL properties, the peroxidase-like catalytic activity of the CDs and N-CDs was also compared. Interestingly, the N-CDs exhibit higher peroxidase-like catalytic activity than pure CDs and can be used to detect H2O2. This article describes the synthesis of hydroxyapatite (HAp) flakes through a microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. These flakes suggest possible applications as a substrate for depositing titanium dioxide (TiO2) films using chemical vapor deposition with metal–organic precursors (MOCVD). The results reveal the formation of crystalline hydroxyapatite characterized by a uniform morphology. Additionally, we demonstrated the successful deposition of TiO2 coatings on the hydroxyapatite flakes, resulting in a distinctive faceted prism morphology. Our findings affirm the effective synthesis of the HAp/TiO2 composite material. The development of novel cathodic materials with tailored nanostructures is crucial for the advancement of electrochromic devices. In this study, we synthesized cobalt-doped titanium dioxide (Ti-Co) thin films using a facile hydrothermal method to investigate the effects of cobalt doping on their structural, morphological, and electrochromic properties. Comprehensive characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction and Raman analysis, confirmed the highly crystalline nature of the Ti-Co thin films, with specific Raman bands indicating distinct modifications due to cobalt incorporation. The TiO2 nanorods, optimally doped with cobalt (TC-3), demonstrated enhanced charge transport and mobility, significantly improving the electrochromic performance. Among the various compositions studied, the TC-3 sample exhibited superior lithium-ion accommodation, achieving an optical modulation of 73.6% and a high coloration efficiency of 81.50 cm2/C. It also demonstrated excellent electrochromic stability, maintaining performance for up to 5000 s of coloring/bleaching cycles. These results confirm the beneficial impact of cobalt doping on the structural and functional properties of the host material. Furthermore, the practical effectiveness of the TC-3 thin film was validated through the fabrication of an electrochromic device, which showed efficient coloration and bleaching capabilities. This comprehensive research enhances the understanding and functionality of Ti-Co nanorod architectures, highlighting their promising potential for advanced electrochromic applications. In the current work, we report the binder-free hydrothermal one-pot synthesis of a cobalt oxide hierarchical nanostructure (3O4-HNS) onto a highly conductive carbon fiber substrate (CFS/Co3O4-HNS) as an efficient electrode for energy storage devices. The fabricated electrode and synthesized 3O4-HNS were structurally characterized using SEM, EDAX, XRD, and FTIR techniques. Electrochemical characterization of the fabricated CFS/3O4-HNS electrode was also performed and showed that the electrical double-layer capacitance and pseudo-capacitance mechanisms both play roles in the charge storage of the CFS/3O4-HNS electrode. The obtained results exhibited the electrochemical-specific capacitance of 715 F=g at a current density of 3A=g for the CFE/Co3O4-HNS electrode. The fabricated electrode remains at 96% of its initial capacitance after 3000 cycles, showing the excellent cyclability of the fabricated CFS/3O4 -HNS electrode. These results paved the way for using the proposed facile, one-pot synthesized CFE/3O4 -HNS as an efficient electrode for use in electrochemical energy storage devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The examination of photocatalyst powders for the total removal of pollutants from aqueous solutions is a vital research subject within the realm of environmental preservation. The objective of this study is to develop a photocatalyst heterojunction consisting of Zingiber/ZnO-H for the degradation of both the reactive red dye (RR 141) and ofloxacin antibiotic in wastewater. The current investigation outlines the process of synthesising a composite material by combining Zingiber montanum extract with zinc oxide (ZnO) by a hydrothermal method. The synthesis was conducted at a temperature of 180°C for a period of 4 hours. Consequently. The photocatalyst with a constructed heterojunction shown a notable enhancement in its photocatalytic activity as a result of the improved efficiency in charge separation at the interface. The application of economically viable solar energy facilitated the complete eradication of harmful pollutants through the process of detoxification. The removal of impurities occurs by a process that follows a first-order kinetics. Among the pollutants, RR141 demonstrates the greatest rate constant at 0.02 min-1, while ofloxacin has a rate constant of 0.01 min-1. The assessment of the stability of the produced photocatalyst was conducted after undergoing five cycles. This study additionally investigated the influence of sunshine on degradation, uncovering degradation rates of 97% for RR141 and 99% for ofloxacin when exposed to UV Lamp, and degradation rates of 97% for RR141 and 95% for ofloxacin when exposed to Solar Light.
