The fish-borne zoonotic bacteria may pose a risk to humans; nanobiotechnological techniques could serve as effective solutions for fighting them. The direct phycosynthesis of metals’ nanoparticles (NPs), silver (AgNPs), and selenium (SeNPs) using Corallina officinalis extract (CoE) was achieved. The construction of nanocomposites (NCs) from phycosynthesized NPs and nano-chitosan (NCht) was also accomplished to evaluate these entire compounds/NCs as antibacterial amalgams against fish-borne bacteria, Aeromonas hydrophila, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, and Staphylococcus aureus. The entire agents/NCs were characterized and assessed. The structure and interactions of chemicals and NCs were determined using infrared analysis. CoE/AgNPs, CoE/SeNPs, NCht, NCht/CoE/AgNPs, and NCht/CoE/SeNPs had mean particles’ diameter of 5.52, 12.46, 59.81, 64.59, and 77.16 nm, respectively, which were confirmed by size studies and electron microscopy. The challenged bacteria were entirely susceptible to the inspected agents, using both qualitative and quantitative assays; S. aureus was more resistant, while A. hydrophila was the most sensitive strain. The NCs (NCht/CoE/AgNPs and NCht/CoE/SeNPs) have the utmost bactericidal potentialities, respectively; they exceeded the action of ampicillin. The total distortion, disintegration, and lysis of the treated A. hydrophila cells were highlighted by scanning imaging within 10 h of exposure. The conjugation of CoE-mediated NPs with NCht produced effective and harmless NCs, valid for applications to remove fish-borne pathogens with biosafe characteristics.

Abstract Background This study was designed to identify factors that influence outcomes in a large group of well-defined Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) patients with a 3-month follow-up period. Sixty-two cases of GBS with a mean age of 37.15 ± 17.60 years (33 males and 29 females) were recruited in the first 2 weeks after onset. Clinical history, examination, and a variety of rating scales including Medial Research Council sum score (MRC), Erasmus Guillain-Barré respiratory insufficiency score (EGRIS), at admission and 10 days later were performed. Follow-up investigations at 3 months included the Hughes Disability Scale (HDS), and Overall Neuropathy Limitation Scale (ONLS). Results 64.5% of participants had cranial nerve deficits, 45% had neck muscle weakness, 30.6% had dysautonomia, and 8.1% were mechanically ventilated. C-reactive protein was elevated in 38.7%, and hyponatremia was recorded in 30.6% of patients. Older age, antecedent events particularly diarrhea, neck muscles weakness, low MRC sum score, impaired cough reflex, dysautonomia, and hyponatremia, were all significantly associated with poor outcomes at 3 months using HDS and ONLS. Regression analysis with dependent variables of HDS outcome showed that the presence of an antecedent event particularly diarrhea, neck muscle weakness, hyponatremia and the presence cytoalbuminous dissociation of CSF at onset, and low MRC sum score at 10th day after treatment, were predictors of poor outcome. Conclusion Clinical and laboratory predictors of poor outcome were older age, the presence of an antecedent event particularly diarrhea, low MRC sum score at the 10th day, elevated CRP, hyponatremia and the presence cytoalbuminous dissociation.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the public's perspectives and the health institutions' readiness for telehealth utilization in Egypt. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was employed, and data were collected from a convenient sample of 800 Egyptian citizens and 26 nursing administrators and information technology personnel from 16 governmental hospitals and 10 private hospitals between January and March 2022. The Egyptian community utilization of telehealth questionnaire and the telemedicine hospital readiness assessment were used to collect the data. Results: The results revealed that 35.1% of the general Egyptian population used telehealth services and 43% expressed willingness to use them in future. As perceived by the general Egyptian population, the most prevalent barriers to telehealth utilization were communication barriers (97.6%), lack of confidence in health professionals (77.6%), technological limitations (72.5%), the need for physical examination (25%), and privacy concerns (10%). Regarding hospital readiness, 42% of governmental hospitals were not taking any initiative to implement telehealth services, and 15.4% were at the beginner level, meaning that some steps had been taken. However, the hospital was still far from being able to implement telehealth services. In contrast, private hospitals were either at the beginner or advanced level. Conclusion: Although the use of telehealth services in Egypt has increased, there is a need to address the barriers to public utilization and improve hospitals' readiness to implement telehealth services to enhance public usage.

Nanoparticles have been assessed in preclinical models of atherosclerosis for detection of plaque complexity and treatment. However, their successful clinical translation has been hampered by less than satisfactory plaque detection and lack of a general strategy for assessing the translational potential of nanoparticles. Herein, nanoparticles based on comb-co-polymer assemblies were synthesized through a modular construction approach with precise control over the conjugation of multiple functional building blocks for in vivo evaluation. This high level of design control also allows physicochemical properties to be varied in a controllable fashion. Through conjugation of c-atrial natriuretic factor (CANF) peptide and radiolabeling with 64Cu, the 64Cu-CANF-comb nanoparticle was assessed for plaque imaging by targeting natriuretic peptide clearance receptor (NPRC) in a double-injury atherosclerosis model in rabbits. The prolonged blood circulation and enhanced binding capacity of 64Cu-CANF-comb nanoparticles provided sensitive and specific imaging of NPRC overexpressed in atherosclerotic lesions by positron emission tomography at intervals during the progression of the disease. Ex vivo tissue validation using autoradiography and immunostaining on human carotid endarterectomy specimens demonstrated specific binding of 64Cu-CANF-comb to human NPRC receptors. Taken together, this study not only shows the potential of NPRC-targeted 64Cu-CANF-comb nanoparticles for increased sensitivity to an epitope that increases during atherosclerosis plaque development but also provides a useful strategy for the general design and assessment of the translational potential of nanoparticles in cardiovascular imaging.

Offshore wind power resources in the Red Sea waters of Saudi Arabia are yet to be explored. The objective of the present study is to assess offshore wind power resources at 49 locations in the Saudi waters of the Red Sea and prioritize the sites based on wind characteristics. To accomplish the set objective, long-term hourly mean wind speed (WS) and wind direction (WD) at 100 m above mean sea level, temperature, and pressure data near the surface were used at sites L1-L49 over 43 years from 1979 to 2021. The long-term mean WS and wind power density (WPD) varied between 3.83 m/s and 66.6 W/m2, and 6.39 m/s and 280.9 W/m2 corresponding to sites L44 and L8. However, higher magnitudes of WS >5 m/s were observed at 34 sites and WPD of > 200 W/m2 at 21 sites. In general, WS, WPD, annual energy yield, mean windy site identifier, plant capacity factor, etc. were found to be increasing from east to west and from south to north. Similarly, the mean wind variability index and cost of energy were observed to be decreasing as one moves from east to west and south to north in the Saudi waters of the Red Sea. Solar thermal selective coatings (STSCs) are crucial for enhancing the thermal efficiency of receivers in solar power applications. Enhancing the photothermal conversion performance of STSCs is crucial for improving the thermo-economic efficiency of these sustainable high-temperature applications. Wherefore, in this study, we comprehensively review the ongoing technologies and enhanced strategies of solar thermal selective coatings, highlighting their advantages, drawbacks, technological advancements, and mechanisms. This review comprehensively examines the latest advancements in material synthesis, coating structure designs, and induced aging mechanisms of STSCs. It critically discusses the various types of STSCs, and the research techniques employed to assess photothermal performance and enhance thermal stability. Lastly, the limitations and future expectations of STSCs are also highlighted. Three-dimensional food printing (3DFP) has now emerged as the new paradigm shift in culinary arts and is leading to a dramatic transformation of traditional cuisine. This paper aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature associated with 3DFP research. In the Scopus database, an initial search provided 2188 documents. Applying the PRISMA criteria reduced these documents by narrowing the research to 545 articles. The bibliometric analysis confirmed the growth of research interest in the topic over the past ten years, demonstrating a substantial rise in publications between 2021 and 2023. We also investigated major journals and authors who play the most significant role in the field. The study also provides insight into how 3DFP is applied to deliver delicious, healthy, and visually appealing meals and mitigate food waste. It also highlights and strengthens the argument for design possibilities to manufacture such shapes and include other raw materials. This bibliometric analysis not only visualizes 3DFP's research trend but also provides future research directions, focusing on its role in the food industry and gastronomy as well as its contribution to sustainable development.
