Hadis şerhlerini farklı sorularla mercek altına alan yakın tarihli birçok çalışma şerhlerin sanılandan daha orijinal bir faaliyet olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Özellikle şerhlerin muhtevası dışına çıkıp şerh-tedris ilişkisi, şerhlerin himayesi, okunurluğu vb. yönlerine yoğunlaşan araştırmalar oldukça başarılı adımlardır. Şerhleri yaygın taslak dışına çıkarak “farklı bir bakış açısıyla inceleme” hedefinde/iddiasında olan yakın tarihli araştırmalardan biri de Sezai Engin’e ait Şerh ve Şârihin İzini Sürmek: Hadis Şerhlerinin Hikâyesi’dir. This article describes the implementation of digital storytelling in an English language class of eleventh graders at a private school in Mosquera, Colombia. It is a descriptive qualitative study, carried out for about six months by using digital tools to foster language production in the language learners. The implementation contained digital storytelling as a pedagogical strategy for developing the writing literacy practice. The personal stories and media literacy allowed the participants to combine both narratives and digital elements when writing in English in a collaborative work-group in which they co-constructed their stories. The data collected was analyzed by using ATLAS ti. Open questions looked for information about the writing process and the digital tools implemented when creating the stories. The findings revealed that the participants developed writing and speaking manners while assuming different roles. In addition, the digitalization of stories strengthened their multi-literacies. The participants’ recordings of their voices helped them improve their oral production without worrying about their classmates’ opinion. Finally, negotiation in the group roles, as writer, designer and media creator, played an important role when working in groups.

Abstract This paper aims to see how the phenomenon of mistakenly written of the Qur'an in the Muslim world took place. Realized or not, some Muslims are often wrong in writing verses of the Qur'an even though he memorized it. Based on historical analysis, this phenomenon is very likely to occur. The phenomenon of mistakenly written of the Qur'an was formed because of the dominance of transmitting the Qur'an orally, not writing. This transmission has been carried out since the time of the Prophet until now. Although the Qur'an is already in the tradition of writing, but true writing tradition is only to strengthen the allegiance of the Qur'an. Then how much public awareness of oral and written traditions also influenced him. For those who have only consciousness, written oral misconduct is commonplace. However, for those who have written consciousness, mis-writing is taboo. In the Muslim community itself the written consciousness has not yet dominated in its society in full.

Abstract Introduction: Parallel with the rapid advancements in information and communication technology (ICT) and evolving learner behaviors, language teaching and learning discipline looks to from the application of these developments for learning and teaching English as a lingua franca (ELF). However, acquisition of ELF is deemed to be a demanding experience affecting learners both psychologically and socially, among others. With the goal of developing novel practice episodes in L2 English writing classrooms, the present study adapted an m-game-mediated blended module of L2 learning. Methods: Eighty four female and male medical students from Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences were purposefully selected to learn L2 writing through the blended module in 42 dyads during the second semester of 2014-2015 academic year. To adopt a triangulation research design, data were collected using three major instruments, namely attitude questionnaire, formative assessment and interview. Results: In the first and third practice episodes, entertainment for the most part, took precedence over the intended instructional content and subject matter. But, when the materials were fed into the native gaming scene participants did pay more attention to the intended content. In effect, the amount of learners' familiarity with the practicing contexts shaped their conceptual schemata and also flourished their creativity. Conclusion: In the nutshell, moderating unfamiliarity of the practicing context bails learners out from becoming overwhelmed by cognitive overload. However, unwarranted moderation in learning setting, in turn, nips the conditions that stifle learners' creativity in the bud thus resulting in their underperformance.

- Abstract
In this article, based on the idea that all self-portrait is an ‘other-portrait’, we will critically analyze the tenacious accuracy of double creative obedience both in plastic and written form with that Iberê Camargo builds, as an affaire verbale et visuelle, not few of many self-portraits of his sustained, but diverse and versatile, ‘self’. In this sense, on the one hand, we carry out an evaluative analysis of the specificities and the contributions of the artist, reflecting his complete assimilation of literary values. On the other hand, besides debating the issue about his ‘auto-bio-graphical’ representation and his subjective pensée with transitive words and images, we will seek to read — far from any immaculate conception, analyze —, among others, two of the most representative and paradigmatic books of his singular literary work: the figured selfportraits and/or lettered ‘other-portraits’ No andar do tempo (1988) and Gaveta dos guardados (2009).

ABSTRACT This paper describes teaching-learning process shortcomings in the English for Medical Purposes, a subject of fourth-year medical student’s curriculum at the medical university of Camagüey. Its main objective is aimed at the elaboration of a Methodological Alternative distinguished by the use of the Project Method approach to favour the development of writing skills in English. This Methodological Alternative is characterized by being flexible, pertinent and able to develop and integrate knowledge of the English language and medicine. It has two main stages: Socio-affective dynamics for the production of written texts in English for medical purposes and the dynamics for the construction of written texts in English for medical purposes. The results of considering expertise’s’ opinion revealed the feasibility of the proposal as a fostering tool for teaching writing in medical sciences.

The separation between fictional and confessional literature is very subtle in Agustina Bessa-Luís. It draws attention to the abundance of autobiographical traits present on the fictional texts of the writer and to the relevance given to the author, making it a fundamental element to the constitution of the memory subject. It seemed to me interesting to study the novels Dentes de rato and Vento, areia e amoras bravas, considering which aspects promote the reading of these works as fiction ,without, therefore, neglecting the utobiographical residues that highlight them. My reflections of thinking in this article are based on the thought of the French theorist Philippe Lejeune.

In this article I aim to broaden and deepen the evolution of consciousnessdiscourse by integrating the integral theoretic narratives of Rudolf Steiner, Jean Gebser, and Ken Wilber, who each point to the emergence of new ways of thinking that couldaddress the complex, critical challenges of our planetary moment. I undertake a widescan of the evolution discourse, noting it is dominantly limited to biology-based notionsof human origins that are grounded in scientific materialism. I then broaden the discourseby introducing integral evolutionary theories using a transdisciplinary epistemology towork between, across and beyond diverse disciplines. I note the conceptual breadth ofWilber's integral evolutionary narrative in transcending both scientism andepistemological isolationism. I also draw attention to some limitations of Wilber’sintegral project, notably his undervaluing of Gebser's actual text, and the substantialomission of the pioneering contribution of Steiner, who, as early as 1904 wroteextensively about the evolution of consciousness, including the imminent emergence of anew stage. I enact a deepening of integral evolutionary theory by honoring the significantyet undervalued theoretic components of participation/enactment and aesthetics/artistryvia Steiner and Gebser, as a complement to Wilber. To this end, I undertake an in-depthhermeneutic dialogue between their writings utilizing theoretic bricolage, a multi-modemethodology that weaves between and within diverse and overlapping perspectives. Thehermeneutic methodology emphasizes interpretive textual analysis with the aim ofdeepening understanding of the individual works and the relationships among them. Thisanalysis is embedded in an epic but pluralistic narrative that spans the entire human storythrough various previous movements of consciousness, arriving at a new emergence atthe present time. I also discuss the relationship between these narratives andcontemporary academic literature, culminating in a substantial consideration of researchthat identifies and/or enacts new stage(s) or movements of consciousness. In particular, Ihighlight the extensive adult developmental psychology research that identifies severalstages of postformal thinking, and recent critical, ecological and philosophical literaturethat identifies an emerging planetary consciousness. In summary, my research reveals aninterpretation of scientific and other evidence that points beyond the formal, modernistworldview to an emerging postformal-integral-planetary consciousness. I posit that abroader academic consideration of such an integration of integral theoretic narrativescould potentially broaden the general evolution discourse beyond its current biologicalbias. The article concludes with a rewinding of narrative threads, reflecting on thenarrators, the journey, and the language of the discourse. Appendixes A and B explorethe theoretical implications of the emergence of postformal-integral-planetaryconsciousness for a reframing of modernist conceptions of time and space. Appendix Cholds an aesthetic lens to the evolution of consciousness through examples from thegenealogy of writing.

After finishing secondary education level, one can hardly expect that he will be able to perform well in English. One cause is that it is assumed that English learning process emphasizes more on the students cognitive rather than on their psychical needs as human beings. Teachers tend to ignore what \'s the so called education from the neck up. Based on the writer's personal experience during her schooling phase, this paper, therefore tries to offer English teachers the humanistic approach applied in an EFL writing class. This approach is worth considering since its main principle is bringing the learning process towards a more affective situation by combining the subject matter to be learned with the feelings, emotions, experiences, and lives of the students. In this paper, the discussion of what humanistic approach is and why it is worth considering especially in a writing class are elaborated in details. In addition, a model of a classroom application will also be given.

In many undergraduate statistics programs, the two-semester calculus-based mathematical statistics sequence is the cornerstone of the curriculum. However, 10 years after the release of the Guidelines for the Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE) College Report, 2005, and the subsequent movement to stress conceptual understanding and foster active learning in statistics classrooms, the sequence still remains a traditional, lecture-intensive course. In this article, we discuss various instructional approaches, activities, and assessments that can be used to foster active learning and emphasize conceptual understanding while still covering the necessary theoretical content students need to be successful in subsequent statistics or actuarial science courses. In addition, we share student reflections on these course enhancements. The course revision we suggest doesn’t require substantial changes in content, so other mathematical statistics instructors can implement these strategies without sacrificing concepts in probability and inference that are fundamental to the needs of their students. Supplementary materials, including code used to generate class plots and activity handouts, are available online. Received December 2014. Revised June 2015. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

To help authors design rigorous studies and prepare clear and informative manuscripts, improve the transparency of editorial decisions, and raise the bar on educational scholarship, the Deputy Editors of the Journal of General Internal Medicine articulate standards for medical education submissions to the Journal. General standards include: (1) quality questions, (2) quality methods to match the questions, (3) insightful interpretation of findings, (4) transparent, unbiased reporting, and (5) attention to human subjects' protection and ethical research conduct. Additional standards for specific study types are described. We hope these proposed standards will generate discussion that will foster their continued evolution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Writing a meaningful and valuable letter of reference is not an easy task. Several factors influence the quality of any letter of reference. First, the accuracy and reliability of the writer's impressions and judgment depend on how well he knows the individual being described. Second, the writer's frame of reference, which is determined by the number of persons at the same level that he has worked with, will impact the context and significance of his beliefs and estimations. Third, the letter-writing skills of the person composing the letter will naturally affect the letter. To support the other components of a candidate's application, a letter of reference should provide specific examples of how an individual's behavior or attitude compares to a reference group and should assess "intangibles" that are hard to glean from a curriculum vitae or from test scores. This report offers suggestions that should help physicians write more informative letters of reference. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The authors assessed the extent to which a generative prereading activity known as Story Impressions (SI), or composing a guess from clues, influences passage recall relative to a more passive prereading activity of reading a Content Preview (CP). The results from 74 eight-grade students indicated the CP groups equaled the reading-only control groups in recall of the major phrases of the narrative as well as other passage information. As expected, the SI groups significantly exceeded the CP groups and the control groups on both aspects of passage recall. The authors argued that the SI method could be effective because it induced the three fundamental processes that constitute reading comprehension (M. A. Gernsbacher.1990) and the concomitant generative learning effect (M.C. Wittrock, 1989). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents a model for guiding students in writing reviews of family literature. The conceptual base for the model is drawn from Bloom and associates taxonomy of educational objectives. It also highlights the value of the Bloom taxonomy for assisting academic mentors, enlightening graduate students, and advancing family science. As in other fields, literature reviews in family science serve two functions: to guide new research and to organize information and facts. These functions are identical to the functions of theory. Writers focus on one or both of these objectives in writing scientific literature reviews. The value of the literature review in a developing discipline, such as family studies, seems particularly critical because of the multiple paradigms that compete and contribute to one another in a relatively young science. The multiplicity of paradigms, variety of theoretical bases, and the variation in methodologies imply a critical need for the integration that literature reviews afford. In addition to the advancement of the field, the writing of a literature review also contributes to the personal growth as well as the pragmatic goals of the writer.

This interpretation focuses on the oracular practice as technology, as written production, based on religious authority. In this way, two fields, like Old Comedy and Greek divination, are analyzed together, a relation not usually developed in Classical Studies. Moreover, with the aim of showing the critical situation of the oracular institution during the Peloponnesian War, I reconstruct other perspectives about the same phenomena from other authors, like Thucydides or Demosthenes. So, it enables us to understand not only the «comic» representation of divination, but also the oracular practice as a specific technology and how it can be manipulated., Este artículo se propone analizar la escena del cresmólogo intruso en Aves, revalorizando la comedia aristofánica como fuente de conocimiento histórico.

- Abstract
The aim of this study is to find out the advantages and the challenges of utilizing video feedback for ELT teachers and EFL learners in the course of writing lessons. Qualitative case study was applied as the study design to gather and evaluate the data from the teachers and the learners participated in the study. The department of foreign languages of a university in Turkey was chosen to carry out the research that started at the beginning of the 2014-2015 academic year and application and gathering data procedure was completed in 5 months. Semi-structured in-depth focus group interviews with the participants were designated to achieve the purpose of the research. All 3 lecturers and 40 learners participated in the interviews that were carried out in private with the researchers. The whole data set was analyzed through the implementation of independent coding and thematic analysis approach. The results of the study show that advantages of using video feedback for writing skills have precedence over its challenges. The accessibility of feedback, user friendly nature of the software and the chance to integrate technology with teaching were the reported benefits of video feedback. On the other hand, the expectation of instant feedback that might become a burden for teachers was listed as the disadvantage of video feedback. Giving video feedback to learners is advantageous for both teachers and learners. Even though learners

- Abstract
Body Acts Queer is an exploration of the performative and ideological functions of clothes with regard to gender, feminism and queer. It is an artistic, practice-based thesis in the field of fashion and design. The thesis includes three projects: On & Off, If you were a girl I would love you even more and The Club Scene. In these projects I, using text and bodies, work with acts in which clothes have a fundamental role. By exploring bodily experiences of clothes, I investigate the clothes’ performative and ideological functions, with a focus on cultural, social and heteronormative structures. Working with clothing and fashion design from a queer feminist perspective, I transform queer and feminist theory into a creative process. The projects presented in this thesis, together with the discussion, suggest a change in the ways in which bodies act, are perceived and are produced within the fashion field, giving examples of how a queer design practice can be performed. In this thesis, queer design is explored as an inclusive term, containing ideas about clothes and language, the meeting point between fiction and reality and the ability to interpretation and bodily transformations – where desire, bodily experiences and interaction create a change.

31. Transfiguring the World through Fantasy. Fantastic Elements in Elsa Morante’s and Anna Maria Ortese’s Short Stories

- Abstract
This article compares Elsa Morante’s with Anna Maria Ortese’s short stories. There are several reasons why Morante and Ortese can be juxtaposed. In both cases, the content of their short stories became a significant part of their novels. Morante’s early short stories can be considered as preliminary to her later output; Ortese re-used many situations and characters of her short stories in her novels. A visionary element is evident in both authors, whose stories often take place outside common reality, even though they deal with realistic situations. Their narrations develop in real places, though filled with unrealistic details and atmospheres. They wanted to free the imagination and find an innovative balance between reality and fiction. Another common element is the love and care for humble and harmless creatures, that are numerous in their writings. Besides, both authors were self-educated, and often pointed out their atypical condition. They had the same problems to affirm their personality in a male, chauvinist milieu. For Morante and Ortese, writing was a practice of self-knowledge and a way of investigating the world., Lo studio accosta la prima produzione di Elsa Morante, rappresentata dalla narrativa breve, alla narrativa breve di Anna Maria Ortese.

- Abstract
The present paper is a pilot study focusing the common difficulties that either Mandarin or Cantonese speakers present on writing Portuguese. The observed problems are an obstacle on the accurate learning of European Portuguese and are related with the Portuguese minimal pairs [p]/[b]; [t]/[d]; [k]/[g] that are often misunderstood. Those specific examples the use of [p] instead of [b] may create a new word but also a different meaning, as example: (small boat) instead of (big vase), or (not existing) instead of (receive). Works of 25 students were selected and 43 occurrences analyzed. Recognizing the limitations of the present research the results show that the prevalent confusion is with the pair [t]/[d] when in CCV context. The study (although recognizing its limitation) should be seen as approaches and reflections that must be deeply studied and data being important to Second Language Teachers and researchers.

- Abstract
This article shows the autonomous learning experience of university students in a subject of Political Science belonging to European Higher Education Area. The teaching tool applied in this experience is the portfolio based on reflective readings and writings. Consequently, I analyze the discourses of ten student portfolios, in which the autonomous learning is showed. In this case, the autonomous learning involves a teaching-learning process focused on the development of reflective writings by students. So, the students are formed in the discursive practices of Political Science through key reflective readings that, in turn, allow them to build their knowledge., Este artículo muestra la experiencia de aprendizaje autónomo de estudiantes universitarios en una asignatura de Ciencia Política perteneciente al Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior (EEES).

- Abstract
Transparency is a constant feature in Ramón Gaya’s work. But it is not just an idea that, in the shape of glass vases, mugs, cans or mirrors, is repeated in his paintings with an unusual insistence. It means also the effort to make his writing a clear way to communicate his thought on art. A complete strategy is then delineated by the artist, who invites us to consider his work as a deep and complex reflection, deliberately hidden behind its apparent simplicity, through a realism that, far from showing us what is on the picture, arises the question on the relationship of art towards nature, life and towards the individual artist himself as a creator., La transparencia es una constante en la obra de Ramón Gaya.

- Abstract
This thesis identifies and compares the benefits and costs of the policy requiring master's degree candidates at NPS to complete a thesis. It uses fiscal year 2000 data. The goal is to evaluate the existing policy to determine if the economic benefit of requiring a thesis is greater than the economic cost. The direct benefit of the thesis requirement is the increased productivity of officers due to having completed a thesis. Indirect benefits are found in the valuable research provided by many theses to the DoD. The most prominent cost of the thesis requirement is the opportunity cost of the student's time necessary to stay at NPS, and therefore out of the Fleet, in order to write a thesis. This thesis estimates that the costs of the thesis requirement were approximately $ 19.8 million in FY2OOO. The indirect benefits of research completed by thesis students were between $8.3 million and $18.4 million. The direct benefits, in terms of its educational value, could not be quantified. Therefore, this report recommends that, until the direct benefits can be accurately quantified and monetized, the current requirement for thesis work remain as a condition for graduation from NPS. - Abstract
This thesis proposes that the United States should have a national economic strategy (NES) document to provide direction for the many policymakers who implement the economic instrument of power. With the end of the Cold War, the United States faces a complex global security environment and must deal with numerous threats to its national interests. Decreasing relative military power implies that the United States will have to rely more on other instruments of power to attain its national security goals. This paper examines the current global security environment and the important role of economic power in the world economy. With this background, this study analyzes the effectiveness of the Marshall Plan as a written national economic strategy. It also examines how Japan successfully formulates and implements its domestic and international economic strategies. The thesis investigates the purpose, process, and products of U.S. national military strategy to determine if parallel economic strategy development is feasible. Finally, this paper identifies the ends, ways, and means of economic strategy that support and sustain national security strategy. It concludes with a recommendation for reorganizing U.S. economic policymaking agencies to formulate and implement the NES.

- Abstract
This is a year long in-depth, longitudinal case study of Noa, a six-year-old female in a bilingual first grade class which documents and analyzes her literacy development in a multilingual setting. Data collection for the study includes: written artifacts, anecdotal records, informal interviews with Noa, formal interviews with Noa's teachers, and videotapes. The research questions and their answers are summarized as: (1) What types of written genres does Noa develop? Noa developed 25 different written genres. The genres were categorized according to the distinction between language as an end in itself and language as a means toward an end, based on Halliday's ideas of learning about language and learning through language. (2) How does Noa use Hebrew, English and Spanish in her writing development? English was Noa's predominant written language. Only 10% of Noa's writings were written in languages other than English. (3) How does Noa use technology in her literacy development? Noa used the computer for two main reasons: as a stylistic device and as an ownership device. (4) What kind of questions does Noa ask about language learning? Noa wondered aloud about language intensively during the duration of the study. (5) What types of tensions influence Noa's writings? Three types of tensions were documented: Language learning: between invention and convention. The genres categorized as language as an end in itself did not show any development throughout the year. In the genres categorized as language as a means toward an end, the tension between inventions and conventions were obvious and gave a clear sense of Noa's literacy development. Settings: between home and school. The settings in which Noa wrote impacted her writings. All of the genres related to language as an end in itself were explored in the school setting only. Important relations between Noa's writing experiences at home and in the school were discussed. Editing: between teacher centered and student centered

- Abstract
Organically modified ceramics (ORMOCERs) have been prepared with respect to optical applications. The investigations show that materials can be synthesized with interesting properties for a variety of potential applications. They can be used as hard coatings for the protection of optical polymers, e.g. CR 39 or fluorescent dye containing PMMA. The incorporation of dyes leads to active optical matrices, e.g. fluorescent coatings and the introduction of components with high refractive increments to refractive index numbers nD < or = 1.68. For microoptic applications, materials suitable for photolithographic patterning or direct laser writing have been developed., This articles is from 'Sol-Gel Optics: Proceedings SPIE-The International Society for Optical Engineering Held in San Diego, California on 11-13 July 1990. Organizations in both public and private sectors are expected to manage their work assignments with greater efficiency and at less cost every year. To accomplish this goal today and maintain the diversity, flexibility, and strategies needed to survive require a conscious planning by management and publications offices to meet the varying communication needs which ensure continued growth. Four separate investigations were made in this study to understand communication needs of program managers. The results of these investigations have been integrated into the overall communications study. Findings for each investigation are analyzed separately and collectively. Discussions and recommendations are incorporated into a separate program managers handbook volume because it proved to be the most useful method of presenting the total study results. This study was conducted at the Naval Missile Center, Point Mugu, California. It concerns the continuous flow of various types of official formal communications by publications offices and the development of methods to meet immediate and long-term needs of managers.

- Abstract
This study explored the construction of written language knowledge as evidenced by the changes in forty-seven preschool children's autographs. Throughout the school year children were asked to "write your name and draw a picture of yourself." The resulting name writing samples indicated that changes in children's autographs were not idiosyncratic but identifiable transitions in a cognitive constructive process as children gradually attempted to make sense out of written language by writing their names. Transitions identified in children's autographs included: graphic actions (scribbling); random graphemes dispersed within drawing; spatial differentiation between writing and drawing; zigzag lines; zigzag lines with graphemes; linear and eventually horizontal, discrete, letterlike strings; reduced number of graphemes; increasing number of pertinent letters in and/or out of order; appropriate number of placeholders and pertinent letters; recognizable letters; and, eventually conventional signatures. As children's autographs evolved over time they provided evidence that children construct knowledge about written language much as Piaget and others have suggested young children construct logico-mathematical knowledge; not by using adult logic but by trying to make sense of and understand written language. Conventional or even recognizable autographs did not suddenly appear or result from the copying of models. Rather, autographs evolved over time as children devised strategies and followed intuitive rules while solving the problem of distinguishing writing from drawing, generating the culturally significant actions involved in writing, discovering the distinctive orthographic features of letters, and eventually controlling the orthographic conventions of name writing. In addition to providing evidence for name writing as a constructive process, this study also presented information indicating that initially, name writing is ideographic and is not based on knowledge of let
