This project is dedicated to the development of fuel cladding materials for Gen-IV Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor (SFR). The study focuses on the mechanical and microstructural properties of 9wt%Cr ferritic/martensitic Oxide Dispersion Strengthened (ODS) steel tubes transformed by cold pilgering. The aim of this project is to identify the relationships between the thermomechanical parameters of the industrial manufacturing process and the properties of the material in its final state. The study was carried out by an experimental approach to analyze the evolution of the properties of the material at each stage of its production: hot extrusion of a tube from the pre-alloyed powder mixture; reduction of the tube section by several rolling passes; intermediate heat treatment between each rolling pass and the final heat treatment. By a precise analysis of the microstructural and mechanical evolutions during cold rolling, fundamental data were obtained for the development of cold forming sequences of ODS steels. The discovery of an unexpected phenomenon of texture inheritance during thermal treatments highlights the particular effect of the nano-phases in the phase transition of the 9% Cr stainless ODS steels.The Viscoplastic Self-Consistent code (VPSC) is applied to simulate the evolution of texture and macroscopic mechanical properties during rolling. The link between microstructure and process parameters help the optimization of manufacturing parameters., Ce projet est dédié au développement de matériaux de gainage pour le Réacteur à Neutrons Rapides refroidis au sodium (RNR-Na). L'étude se concentre sur les propriétés mécaniques et microstructurales de tubes en acier ferritique/martensitique 9wt%Cr, renforcé par dispersion d’oxydes (ODS) et mis en forme par laminage à pas de pèlerin. L’objectif de ce projet est d’identifier les relations entre les paramètres thermomécaniques du processus de fabrication industrielle et les propriétés du matériau dans son état final. L’étude a été effectué par une approche expérimentale pour analyser l’évolution des propriétés du matériau à chaque étape de sa production : filage à chaud d’une ébauche à partir de l’état de poudre, réduction de la section de tube par plusieurs passes de laminage, traitement thermique intermédiaire entre chaque passe de laminage et traitement thermique final. Par une analyse précise des évolutions microstructurales et mécaniques au cours du laminage à froid, des données fondamentales ont été obtenues pour le développement des séquences de mis en forme à froid des aciers ODS. La découverte d'un phénomène inattendu d’héritage de texture au cours des traitements thermiques met en évidence l'effet particulier des nano-phases dans le changement de phase des aciers inoxydables ODS 9%Cr.Le code ViscoPlastique Auto-Cohérent (VPSC) est appliqué pour simuler l'évolution de la texture et des propriétés mécaniques macroscopiques lors du laminage. Ceci permet de relier la microstructure aux paramètres du procédé et de faciliter l’optimisation des paramètres de fabrication.

Calcium carbonate can be found in many natural materials, such as coral and shells of various crustaceans and mollusks. The growth of its various polymorphs, aragonite, calcite and vaterite, in the presence of biological molecules, affect their organization in terms of crystalline microstructure and long range order (texture and ultrastructure). Electrodeposition was chosen in this work for its growth speed and a good control of instrumental parameters. We have selected the growth of aragonite, mimicking the texture of the nacre of Haliotis tuberculata tuberculata but with a less pronounced crystal orientation. A growth of oriented pseudo-hexagonal platelets, with a double-twinning and a relative orientation of approximately 60° to each other, seems to be close to the observations on natural nacres of different molluscs. A X-ray diffraction study of the deposits obtained in the presence of chitosan and organic molecules extracted from natural nacres shows their influence on the crystalline texture but also on the lattice of aragonite and on the carbonate groups. The aplanarity of carbonate groups shows the deformation induced by the molecules during the crystal growth. This study shows that a mineral-organic synthetic approach can give new insights on the process leading to the growth of natural organic crystals in terms of crystalline orientation, lattice distortion, structure and crystalline microstructure., On retrouve CaCO3 dans de nombreux matériaux du Vivant, comme par exemple le corail, les carapaces et les coquilles de différents crustacés et mollusques. La croissance des différentes formes allotropiques de CaCO3 , aragonite, calcite et vatérite, en présence de molécules biologiques, est influencée en terme d'organisation cristalline, de microstructure et d'ordre à grande échelle (texture et ultrastructure). La voie électrochimique a été choisie dans ce travail pour sa vitesse de formation de dépôt ainsi qu'un bon contrôle des paramètres instrumentaux. Nous avons sélectionné l'aragonite dans le dépôt ainsi que sa croissance texturée rappelant celle de la nacre de Haliotis tuberculata tuberculata avec toutefois une orientation cristalline moins prononcée. Une croissance en plaquettes pseudo-hexagonales orientées, présentant un double-maclage et une orientation d'environ 60° les unes par rapport aux autres, rappelle les observations faites sur les nacres de différents mollusques. Une étude par diffraction des rayons X sur des dépôts obtenus en présence de chitosan et de molécules organiques extraites de nacres naturelles montre leur influence sur la texture cristalline, les mailles de l'aragonite et les groupements carbonate. Le décalage de l'atome de carbone par rapport au plan des oxygènes de ce groupement révèle la déformation induite par les molécules durant la croissance cristalline. Cette étude montre que par une approche minérale-organique synthétique, on peut se rapprocher des processus conduisant à la croissance d'organo-cristaux naturels, pour la texture, la distortion de mailles, la structure et le faciès cristallin.

The superconducting oxide YBa2Cu3O7Δ (Y123), with its critical temperature of 92 K woke up with its discovery a great enthusiasm and continues to be the source of many works. Thanks to its good superconductive properties at the liquid nitrogen temperature (77 K) it seems to be very promising for the applications under magnetic field. In order to obtain higher critical current densities, it is necessary to increase their bulk density and to induce a preferential crystallographic orientation.This work consisted of elaborating improved samples in term of superconducting properties. The conventional texture process induces cracks and porosities in the samples and requires addition of doping agents in order to improve materials properties. We have studied a new process named "infiltration and growth" as well as an original geometry "with thin walls". The characterizations carried out on this superconducting microstructures, concerning texture and properties are reported.The optimization of the synthesis process consisted in understanding the mechanisms of infiltration and growth, then to seek the configuration and the composition giving of the most powerful samples. Critical currents densities close to 68 kA/cm2 under self field have been measured at 77 K.The study of the perforated samples showed that, thanks to the artificial "holes", the microstructures are free of porosities and the samples cool more quickly. Concerning the oxygenation process of the samples this take place easier and its more homogeneous, compared to non-perforated pellets., L'oxyde supraconducteur YBa2Cu3O7Δ (Y123) qui possède une température critique de 92 K a éveillé à sa découverte un grand enthousiasme et est la source de nombreux travaux. Grâce à ses bonnes propriétés supraconductrices à la température de l'azote liquide (77 K) il semble être le plus prometteur pour les applications sous champ magnétique. Pour obtenir des densités de courant critique élevées, il est nécessaire de les densifier et d'induire une orientation cristallographique préférentielle.Ce travail a consisté à élaborer des échantillons plus performants en terme de propriétés supraconductrices. Le procédé conventionnel de texturation induit des fissures et de la porosité dans les échantillons et nécessite l'ajout de dopants pour améliorer ses propriétés. Nous avons étudié un nouveau procédé « infiltration et croissance » ainsi que la mise en forme d'une géométrie originale « à parois minces ». Les caractérisations effectuées sur la microstructure, la texture et les propriétés supraconductrices sont rapportées.L'optimisation du procédé a consisté à comprendre les mécanismes d'infiltration et de croissance, puis à rechercher la configuration et la composition donnant des échantillons les plus performants. Des densités de courants critiques de l'ordre de 68 kA/cm2 en champ propre ont été mesurées à 77 K. L'étude des échantillons perforés a montré que, grâces aux « trous » artificiels, les microstructures sont exempt de porosité, les échantillons se refroidissent plus rapidement et l'oxygénation est plus rapide et homogène comparé aux matériaux non perforés.

The compound [C6H5CH2(CH3)3N]2[SeBr6]•CH3CN (1) was prepared from elemental selenium and bromine, and benzyltrimethylammonium bromide. The crystal structure of 1 has been determined by X-ray methods and refined to R = 0.0554 and 0.1072 for 1772 and 2591 reflections, respectively. The crystals were monoclinic, space group was. Junginys [C6H5CH2(CH3)3N]2[SeBr6]•CH3CN (1) gautas selenui sąveikaujant su bromu ir benziltrimetilamonio bromidu acetonitrile. Jo kristalinė ir molekulinė struktūra nustatyta monokristalų rentgenostruktūrine analize ir ištobulinta iki R = 0,0554 ir 0,1072 atitinkamai 1772 ir 2591 atspindžiams. Kristalai yra monoklininės singonijos, erdvinė grupė.

The crystalline structure of two biodegradable odd-odd polyesters (i.e., poly(nonamethylene pimelate) (PES 9,7) and poly(nonamethylene azelate) (PES 9,9)) was investigated by means of electron and X-ray diffraction of single crystals and oriented fibers, respectively. Truncated rhombic crystals were obtained with an aspect ratio that was strongly depended on the supercooling degree. The crystalline structure of both homopolyesters was defined by an orthorhombic P2(1)ab space group and a large unit cell containing four molecular segments with an all-trans conformation. Nevertheless, the structure in the chain axis projection was equivalent to a simpler cell containing only two segments. Crystalline lamellae were effectively degraded by lipases, starting the enzymatic attack on the lamellar surfaces. The random copolymer constituted by an equimolar amount of pimelate and azelate units (COPES 9,7/9) crystallized according to regular lamellae with a similar molecular arrangement in the chain axis projection. The structure of this copolymer was preferably conditioned by the azelate component as could be deduced from both, diffraction and spectroscopic data. Analysis of small angle X-ray scattering patterns pointed out that less crystalline lamellae with higher amorphous thickness had developed in the copolymer. This feature was interpreted as a consequence of the preferential incorporation of pimelate comonomer units in the folding surface.
