Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) affects a substantial proportion of the world’s population and is associated with an increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) due to cardiac arrhythmias, specifically prolonged QT intervals. This study investigates the correlation between glycemic control and cardiac health in 77 diabetic patients. Methods: Patients with both type 1 and type 2 DM aged 14 to 82 years were included. Various clinical and metabolic parameters were evaluated, including glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C). QT intervals were measured using electrocardiograms (ECGs), and patients were categorized based on their QTc intervals. SPSS was used for statistical analysis, including one-way ANOVA tests. Results: The study revealed diverse age and gender representation among diabetic patients. Most patients had type 2 diabetes (87%) with varying illness durations. Patients ranged in age from 14 to 82 years, with a mean of 48.14 16.58 years. The gender distribution was even (49% male and 51% female). Most participants had diabetes for less than five years (57%) and varied treatment histories (71% managed with oral hypoglycemic agents, 17% with insulin, and 12% with a combination). The ECG revealed ST-T alterations (4%) as well as sinus tachycardia (13%) and left ventricular hypertrophy (19%). Conclusion: This study sheds light on the intricate relationship between diabetes, glycemic control, and cardiac health. QTc interval variations were observed even though the clinical and metabolic profiles of the patients varied. The influence of glycemic control on QT intervals and cardiovascular outcomes in diabetic patients requires additional study.

Background: Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) severe complication of liver cirrhosis with high mortality. Few studies have found zinc deficiency in liver cirrhosis and HE patients and found it as a precipitating factor for the development of HE. This study was done to measure the serum zinc level in patients with liver cirrhosis with HE and a correlation was obtained between serum zinc level with grades of HE. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was done on 150 patients with liver cirrhosis with HE at a tertiary care center in Jharkhand. All cases were evaluated by history taking, clinical examination, and a questionnaire and classified into different WHC grades of HE and CPC classes of cirrhosis. Routine blood investigations, imaging studies, and morning serum zinc levels were done for all patients. Results: Majority of patients with liver cirrhosis with HE had zinc deficiency. There was a statistically highly significant (P < .00001) association between low serum zinc levels and WHC grades of HE. The serum zinc levels in different classes of cirrhosis showed highly significant differences (P < .00001). The mean serum zinc level was significantly low in patients who died (35.56 ± 11.65 vs 48.36 ± 10.91, P < .0001). The study revealed a strong positive correlation (r = .88, P = .048) between serum zinc and serum albumin levels. Conclusion: Serum zinc is deficient in patients with liver cirrhosis and HE. Zinc deficiency is significantly associated with higher severity of cirrhosis and higher grades of HE. All patients with liver cirrhosis with HE and hypoalbuminemia should be evaluated for zinc deficiency.

Abstract The identification accuracy of low‐voltage distribution consumer–transformer relationship and phase are crucial to three‐phase unbalanced regulation and error correction in consumer–transformer relationships. However, owing to the rapid increase in the number of consumers and the upgrade of the feed lines for low‐voltage distribution systems, the timely update of the consumer‐transformer relationship and phase information of consumers is challenging. This influences the accuracy of the basic information of the power grid. Thus, this study proposes a low‐voltage distribution network consumer–transformer relationship and phase identification method based on anomaly detection and the clustering algorithm. First, the improved fast dynamic time warping distance based on the filter search between voltage sequences is used to measure the similarity between voltage curves. Subsequently, an abnormal consumer detection method based on the local outlier factor is used to identify consumers with mismatched consumer‐transformer relationships by determining the local outlier factor scores of voltage curves. Furthermore, the phase information of normal consumers is identified through clustering by fast search and find of density peaks. Finally, the proposed method is validated using case studies of practical low‐voltage distribution systems in China. The proposed method can effectively improve phase identification accuracy and maintain high adaptability in various data environments.

Chotiari was a natural wetland before the construction of the reservoir. In 1994 wetland was converted into a reservoir to develop a water source for the people. But due to lack of proper attention this reservoir promoted waterlogging and salinity problems instead. The goal of this study is to investigate the variation that occurred on the land cover of the Chotiari wetland and surrounding area, before and after the construction of the reservoir. Satellite images of Chotiari reservoir and its buffer up to 5 km area of 1990 and 2019 were taken. The study was conducted at USPCASW (United States Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water) Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro. In the study, compositing was done by GIS (Geographical Information Systems) to join the bands of images of 1990 and 2019 for observing changes. After extracting the required shapefile of the Chotiari reservoir and its buffer, unsupervised classification was done for three classes: water, vegetation, and barren land. The difference in areas of water, vegetation, and barren land was calculated by superimposing both the images and joining all the bands of Landsat 5 image and Landsat 9 image. By comparing results of both years, a 12% increase in water availability was found whereas 8% and 4% net reduction was found in both vegetation and barren land, respectively. The main reason behind the increment of water quantity might be the construction of a reservoir. Moreover, it also affected the 5 km buffer area around the reservoir which resulted in a 9% reduction in water, 11% increment in vegetation, and 2% drop in the barren land.

Objective: To compare platelet rich plasma against local steroid injection in patients with chronic plantar fasciitis in terms of mean pain and functional scores. Study Design: Quasi-experimental study. Place and Duration of study: Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFIRM) Rawalpindi, from May 2016 to Apr 2018. Methodology: A total of 120 patients having chronic plantar fasciitis were included in the study and were split into 2 groups. The group “A” (n=60) patients were injected with a single dose of autologous platelet rich plasma. The group “B” (n=60) patients received a single dose of methylprednisolone added with a local anesthetic agent. Functional and symptomatic evaluation was done using the American foot and ankle score and the visual analog scale respectively at baseline and at 6 months follow-up. Prevention of accidents is extremely difficult in absence of present situation analysis, as the aim to identify the incident locations and safety deficiency area is the key to work out the effective solution. To access the feasibility of using Geographic Information System (GIS) for mapping of incident locations with an existing data source is vital to estimate variation of RTAs (Road Traffic Accidents) pattern by interpolating. Generally, accident particulars like location, date, time, sex and suspect are included in GIS database. Here, Arc GIS (10.2.1) software is applied to identify incident locations in Karachi district. To reduce the accidents in particular area/study area and in order to sustain coverage for emergency response, there may be such more factors including the number of ambulances deployed, their position/location, and dispatching strategies that affect the EMS system, authors strictly recommended covering based probabilistic model for (Rescue-15) solving the problem of ambulance locations. GIS facilitates the respective authority to do assessment and to analyze the entire position of the accident with the help of GPS or additional sources of information while consequences are utilized as part of the preparation progression is based on the acuity of the patient in time.
