Continuous surfing the Internet has become one of the students' lifestyle markers. Some modern researchers argue that as a result of long and regular Internet networking, young people sooner or later begin to experience psychological challenges. The analysis of international and Russian psychological studies on the issue of Internet communication has made it possible to identify the main personal challenges young people may deal with. The paper presents the results of an empirical study of psychological challenges facing by young people who resort to Internet communication. The study involved young people aged 18 to 22 years old, taking advantage of the Internet communication, 45 people in total. All of the subjects are students of various Russian universities. The empirical study has been conducted in the virtual interaction mode. The general hypothesis maintains that, taking into account the exponential growth of information in general, the Internet as a modern communication environment contributes to the emergence of psychological challenges at youth, in particular: manifesting negative emotional states (experiencing depression); reducing the level of self-confidence and self-esteem; generating uncertainty; and exhibiting symptoms of Internet addiction and formation of obsessive need to virtual communication. The study has showed that, representing a huge communication zone for people, the Internet has its pros and cons. Using various possibilities of the worldwide network leads to structural and functional changes in the mental activity of an individual.

Dyslipidemia is a common metabolic complication in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD) and has traditionally been viewed primarily in terms of cardiovascular risk. Current guidelines do not recommend initiating lipid-lowering therapy in dialysis patients due to insufficient evidence of its benefits on cardiovascular mortality. However, the impact of dyslipidemia in PD patients may extend beyond cardiovascular concerns, influencing PD-related outcomes such as the peritoneal ultrafiltration rate, residual kidney function, PD technique survival, and overall mortality. This review challenges the traditional perspective by discussing dyslipidemia's potential role in PD-related complications, which may account for the observed link between dyslipidemia and increased all-cause mortality in PD patients. It explores the pathophysiology of dyslipidemia in PD, the molecular mechanisms linking dyslipidemia to peritoneal membrane dysfunction, and summarizes clinical evidence supporting this hypothesis. In addition, this paper examines the potential for therapeutic strategies to manage dyslipidemia to improve peritoneal membrane function and patient outcomes. The review calls for future research to investigate dyslipidemia as a potential contributor to peritoneal membrane dysfunction and to develop targeted interventions for PD patients. Background: Nutritional status's role in long COVID is evident in the general population, yet unexplored in patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD), posing a research gap. We hypothesized that pre-infection undernutrition in HD patients might impact long COVID persistence by accelerating oxidative stress. The present study aimed to investigate the association between pre-infection nutritional status, oxidative stress, and one-year-long COVID persistence in HD patients. Methods: This prospective observational cohort study enrolled 115 HD patients with confirmed COVID-19. Nutritional status was assessed using the Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score twice: before infection and three months post-infection. Oxidative markers included malondialdehyde (MDAs), ceruloplasmin, transferrin, and sulfhydryl groups. The endpoint was one-year-long COVID persistence. Results: Moderate pre-infection CONUT scores were associated with heightened severe undernutrition risk (p < 0.0001), elevated MDAs (p < 0.0001), and reduced ceruloplasmin levels (p = 0.0009) at three months post-COVID-19 compared to light CONUT scores. Pre-infection CONUT score independently predicted post-COVID oxidative damage [OR 2.3 (95% CI 1.2; 4.6), p < 0.0001] and one-year-long COVID persistence [HR 4.6 (95% CI 1.4; 9.9), p < 0.0001], even after adjusting for potential confounders. Conclusion: Moderate pre-infection undernutrition heightens post-COVID oxidative stress and increases the risk of one-year-long COVID persistence in HD patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Traditional didactic pedagogies employed within the culture of the Russian higher education system precluded students’ engagement with problems which were described as generating dissonances in learning cognition. Addressing issues of dissonance within the higher education learning sphere requires re-imagining the educational culture. Re-imagining provides an opportunity to promote new approaches to learning through alternative affordances; one such affordance is technology mediated learning.

The article presents the results of evaluating varieties and lines of winter triticale for various indicators of grain quality, which are of great importance in production and breeding. On average, over the years of research, a higher protein content in grain was found in lines 32/4 (13.33 %) and 29/1 (13.23 %). The studied varieties and lines had a high content of good quality gluten, varying from 24.1 % (line 28/1) to 35.3 % (cultivar Bard). All varieties and lines of winter triticale, except for the Orlik variety, correspond to the first quality group.

Introduction and aim: Long-term outcomes of COVID-19 pose a global challenge, particularly impacting individuals with underlying health conditions, including those who have undergone hemodialysis (HD). The study aimed to investigate the relationship between preexisting dialysis dose, measured by single pool Kt/V (spKt/V), and long-term outcomes of COVID-19 in patients undergoing HD. Material and methods: Demographic, clinical, and laboratory parameters following COVID-19 recovery, and long-term outcomes, including the presence of COVID-19 sequelae, hospitalization, and all-cause mortality during a year after COVID-19 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Out of the 195 patients included, there were 108 males (55.4%) and 87 females (44.6%), with a median age of 56 (44-63) years and a dialysis duration of 49 (31.3-85.2) months. Patients with spKt/V<1.4 had a significantly increased risk of long-term COVID-19 sequelae (HR 9.1, 95% CI: 3.4; 24.6), hospitalization (HR 7.6, 95% CI: 3.9; 14.6), and all-cause mortality (HR 8.5, 95% CI: 2.9; 25.8) within one year after COVID-19 recovery compared with those with spKt/V=1.4. spKt/V cutoff point of =1.3 emerged as a significant risk factor for one-year hospitalization and mortality within our cohort. Concusion: Suboptimal dialysis dose, as indicated by spKt/V < 1.4, is associated with adverse long-term COVID-19 outcomes in patients undergoing HD. Optimizing dialysis adequacy may mitigate these risks. Further research is needed to validate these findings and explore interventions to improve outcomes in this vulnerable population. We present multi-sensor measurements from satellites, unmanned aerial vehicle, marine radar, thermal profilers, and repeated conductivity–temperature–depth casts made in the Kara Gates strait connecting the Barents and the Kara Seas during spring tide in August 2021. Analysis of the field data during an 18-h period from four stations provides evidence that a complex sill in the Kara Gates is the site of regular production of intense large-amplitude nonlinear internal waves. Satellite data show a presence of a relatively warm northeastward surface current from the Barents Sea toward the Kara Sea attaining 0.8–0.9 m/s. Triangle-shaped measurements using three thermal profilers revealed pronounced vertical thermocline oscillations up to 40 m associated with propagation of short-period nonlinear internal waves of depression generated by stratified flow passing a system of shallow sills in the strait. The most intense waves were recorded during the ebb tide slackening and reversal when the background flow was predominantly supercritical. Observed internal waves had wavelengths of ~100 m and traveled northeastward with phase speeds of 0.8–0.9 m/s. The total internal wave energy per unit crest length for the largest waves was estimated to be equal to 1.0–1.8 MJ/m. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Objectives: The present study aims to investigate the association between gut microbiota's oxalate-degrading activity (ODA) and the risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) over a three-year follow-up period in a cohort of patients undergoing kidney replacement therapy (KRT). Additionally, various factors were examined to gain insight into the potential mechanisms underlying the ODA–CVD link. Materials and Methods: A cohort of 32 KRT patients and 18 healthy volunteers was enrolled in this prospective observational pilot study. Total fecal ODA, routine clinical data, plasma oxalic acid (POx), serum indoxyl sulfate, lipid profile, oxidative stress, and proinflammatory markers were measured, and the patients were followed up for three years to assess CVD events. Results: The results revealed that patients with kidney failure exhibited significantly lower total fecal ODA levels compared to the healthy control group (p = 0.017), with a higher proportion showing negative ODA status (≤−1% per 0.01 g) (p = 0.01). Negative total fecal ODA status was associated with a significantly higher risk of CVD events during the three-year follow-up period (HR = 4.1, 95% CI 1.4–16.3, p = 0.003), even after adjusting for potential confounders. Negative total fecal ODA status was significantly associated with elevated POx and indoxyl sulfate levels and linked to dyslipidemia, increased oxidative stress, and inflammation, which are critical contributors to CVD. Conclusions: The findings contribute novel insights into the relationship between gut microbiota's ODA and cardiovascular health in patients undergoing KRT, emphasizing the need for further research to elucidate underlying mechanisms and explore potential therapeutic implications of targeting gut microbiota's ODA in this vulnerable population. In our research, we cover the problem of strategic planning in the modern period within a separate organization. Long-term fixed strategies are losing their relevance in an unstable, constantly modernizing world. During the CAVID-19 crisis, companies realized the need for changes in the direction of digital transformation. Features of digitalization cause the need to form a new strategy of the organization, the implementation of which requires certain actions. The purpose of the study was to justify these actions. After studying the material that makes up the new corporate strategy, we identified the requirements for its implementation with maximum results. The research substantiates the concepts of corporate strategy, corporate culture, digitalization and its features. The results of the research will become recommendations for modern companies in the formation and implementation of corporate strategy.

The problem of optimal scheduling in a system with parallel queues and a single server has been extensively studied in queueing theory. However, such systems have mostly been analysed by assuming homogeneous attributes of arrival and service processes, or Markov queueing models were usually assumed in heterogeneous cases. The calculation of the optimal scheduling policy in such a queueing system with switching costs and arbitrary inter-arrival and service time distributions is not a trivial task. In this paper, we propose to combine simulation and neural network techniques to solve this problem. The scheduling in this system is performed by means of a neural network informing the controller at a service completion epoch on a queue index which has to be serviced next. We adapt the simulated annealing algorithm to optimize the weights and the biases of the multi-layer neural network initially trained on some arbitrary heuristic control policy with the aim to minimize the average cost function which in turn can be calculated only via simulation. To verify the quality of the obtained optimal solutions, the optimal scheduling policy was calculated by solving a Markov decision problem formulated for the corresponding Markovian counterpart. The results of numerical analysis show the effectiveness of this approach to find the optimal deterministic control policy for the routing, scheduling or resource allocation in general queueing systems. Moreover, a comparison of the results obtained for different distributions illustrates statistical insensitivity of the optimal scheduling policy to the shape of inter-arrival and service time distributions for the same first moments.
