Tema diplomskog rada je promatranje i utvrđivanje dubine razugljičenja ispitnog uzorka PG.22-DR.85 po uzoru na normu HRN EN ISO 3887. Diplomskim je radom obuhvaćen teorijski dio koji je vezan za provođene postupke toplinske obrade i postupke ispitivanja svojstava i kemijskog sastava strojnog dijela. Nakon teorijskog dijela detaljno je opisan praktični dio. Teorijski dio se sastoji od 4 poglavlja. U prvom poglavlju je iznesena definicija toplinske obrade i čemu su namijenjeni takvi postupci te je opisan proces razugljičenja. Drugo se poglavlje odnosi na uređaje koji su namijenjeni zagrijavanju ispitnih uzoraka ili drugih predmeta na određene temperature koje mogu varirati u odnosu na zahtjeve naručitelja ili istraživača. Proces austenitizacije je opisan u trećem poglavlju. U nastavku trećeg poglavlja pobliže su opisane fazne pretvorbe u čeliku koje se zbivaju provedbom kaljenja materijala. Zadnje poglavlje teorijskog dijela se odnosi na metode ispitivanja svojstava materijala tj. metode kojima se pokušava odrediti ili dokazati pojava razugljičenja u strojnom dijelu. U zadnjem dijelu diplomskog rada, u petom poglavlju, opisan je praktični dio zadatka. Na početku su opisane provedbe procesa toplinskih obrada kaljenja i popuštanja, pa metalografska analiza, ispitivanje tvrdoće i na kraju spektrografska analiza. Sve ove metode su uspješno poslužile za dokazivanje razugljičenja a određene metode su vrlo precizno ili s malom pogreškom otkrile stvarnu dubinu razugljičenja., The topic of this diploma thesis is the observation and determination of the decarburization depth of the test sample PG.22-DR.85 according to the standard HRN EN ISO 3887. The diploma thesis includes a theoretical part related to the performed procedures of heat treatment and testing of properties and chemical composition of the machine part. After the theoretical part, the practical part is described in detail. The theoretical part consists of 4 chapters. The first chapter presents the definition of heat treatment and what such procedures are intended for, and the decarburization process is described. The second chapter deals with devices designed to heat the test samples or other objects to certain temperatures that may vary according to the requirements of the client or researcher. The process of austenitization is described in the third chapter. In the continuation of the third chapter, the phase transformations in steel that take place by the implementation of quenching of the material are described in more detail. The last chapter of the theoretical part refers to the methods of testing the properties of materials, ie. methods that try to determine or prove the occurrence of decarburization in the machine part. In the last part of the thesis, in the fifth chapter, the practical part of the task is described. At the beginning, the implementation of the processes of heat treatment of quenching and softening is described, followed by metallographic analysis, hardness testing and finally spectrographic analysis. All these methods have been successfully used to prove decarburization and certain methods have revealed the actual depth of decarburization very precisely or with little error.

INTRODUCTION: The acoustic analysis of voice involves the use of digital processing, which can be quantitative or qualitative. Among the qualitative methods of acoustic analysis, visual inspection of spectrography is the main technique used. However, there is no validated assessment instrument that allows diagnosing voices as dysphonic and non-dysphonic. The Voice Spectrographic Analysis Protocol (VSAP), which is in the validation process, was used to classify dysphonic and non-dysphonic voices. OBJECTIVES: To verify the validity based on the relationship with other variables of the Spectrographic Analysis Protocol to discriminate between individuals with and without dysphonia. METHODOLOGY: This is a validation, cross-sectional, observational, documentary and quantitative approach study. Eighty-two voices were collected to generate spectrograms, and these spectrograms were saved as images and placed in a Google Forms questionnaire so that the VSAP could be applied. A voice expert judge with experience with the use of the VSAP was recruited to answer the questionnaire. Correlation calculations were performed to verify the convergent validity of the VSAP with the Cepstral Peak Prominence (CPP), Smoothed Cepstral Peak Prominence (CPPS), Dysphonia Acoustic Index (DAI) and General Degree of Vocal Deviation (EDV-G). In addition, the discrimination power of the protocol was sought to verify the validity of the predictive criterion, being a model based on the VSAP Score through the ROC Curve and another model of Logistic Regression. Values of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values and likelihood ratio were obtained to assess the performance of the VSAP. RESULTS: The VSAP showed positive and moderate correlations with DAI and EDV-GG, in addition to negative and weak correlations with CPP and CPPS. The ROC Curve sensitivity and specificity values based on the Score were 51.7% for sensitivity and 91.6% for specificity. The Logistic Regression model presented items Q2, Q12, Q13 and Q14 as benchmarks for the diagnosis of dysphonia, with values of 84.1% for accuracy, 84.2% for sensitivity and 84.0% for specificity. CONCLUSION: The VSAP showed convergent validity with the variables CPP, CPPS, DAI and EDV-G. In addition, the predictive criterion validity of the VSAP presented satisfactory values for the detection of dysphonia. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES INTRODUÇÃO: A análise acústica da voz envolve o uso do processamento digital, podendo ser de maneira quantitativa ou qualitativa. Dentre os métodos qualitativos da análise acústica, a inspeção visual da espectrografia é a principal técnica utilizada. No entanto, não existe um instrumento validado de avaliação que permita diagnosticar vozes como disfônicas e não-disfônicas. O Protocolo de Análise Espectrográfica da Voz (PAEV), que se encontra em processo de validação, foi utilizado para a classificação de vozes disfônicas e não-disfônicas. OBJETIVOS: Verificar a validade baseada na relação com outras variáveis do Protocolo de Análise Espectrográfica para discriminar a indivíduos com e sem disfonia. METODOLOGIA: Trata-se de um estudo de validação, transversal, observacional, documental e de abordagem quantitativa. Foram coletadas 82 vozes para geração de espectrogramas, sendo esses espectrogramas salvos como imagens e colocados em um questionário do Google Forms para que o PAEV fosse aplicado. Um juiz especialista em voz e com experiência com o uso do PAEV foi recrutado para responder ao questionário. Foram realizados cálculos de correlação para verificação da validade convergente do PAEV com o Cepstral Peak Prominence (CPP), Smoothed Cepstral Peak Prominence (CPPS), Dysphonia Acoustic Index (DAI) e Grau Geral do Desvio Vocal (EDV-G). Além disso, buscou-se o poder de discriminação do protocolo para verificar a validade de critério preditiva, sendo um modelo com base no Escore do PAEV por meio da Curva ROC e outro modelo de Regressão Logística. Valores de acurácia, sensibilidade, especificidade, valores preditivo positivo e negativo e razão de verossimilhança foram obtidas para avaliar o desempenho do PAEV. RESULTADOS: O PAEV apresentou correlações positivas e moderadas com DAI e EDV-GG, além de correlações negativas e fracas com CPP e CPPS. Os valores de sensibilidade e especificidade da Curva ROC com base no Escore foram de 51,7% para sensibilidade e 91,6% de especificidade. O modelo de Regressão Logística apresentou como balizadores para o diagnóstico de disfonia os itens Q2, Q12, Q13 e Q14, com valores de 84,1% para acurácia, 84,2% para sensibilidade e 84,0% para especificidade. CONCLUSÃO: O PAEV apresentou validade convergente com as variáveis CPP, CPPS, DAI e EDV-G. Além disso, a validade de critério preditiva do PAEV apresentou valores satisfatórios para a detecção de disfonia.

Significance Gabriel Lippmann won the 1908 Nobel Prize in Physics for his method of reproducing colors in photography. Despite the significance of this result, there are still misconceptions regarding the approach. We provide a complete end-to-end analysis of the process and show, both theoretically and experimentally, how the spectrum reflected from a Lippmann plate is not the same as the exposing spectrum. In addition, we demonstrate that, given the spectrum reflected from a Lippmann plate, together with the plate’s color absorption properties, the original exposing spectrum can be algorithmically recovered., From uncovering the structure of the atom to the nature of the universe, spectral measurements have helped some of science’s greatest discoveries. While pointwise spectral measurements date back to Newton, it is commonly thought that hyperspectral images originated in the 1970s. However, the first hyperspectral images are over a century old and are locked in the safes of a handful of museums. These hidden treasures are examples of the first color photographs and earned their inventor, Gabriel Lippmann, the 1908 Nobel Prize in Physics. Since the original work of Lippmann, the process has been predominately understood from the monochromatic perspective, with analogies drawn to Bragg gratings, and the polychromatic case treated as a simple extension. As a consequence, there are misconceptions about the invertibility of the Lippmann process. We show that the multispectral image reflected from a Lippmann plate contains distortions that are not explained by current models. We describe these distortions by directly modeling the process for general spectra and devise an algorithm to recover the original spectra. This results in a complete analysis of the Lippmann process. Finally, we demonstrate the accuracy of our recovery algorithm on self-made Lippmann plates, for which the acquisition setup is fully understood. However, we show that, in the case of historical plates, there are too many unknowns to reliably recover 19th century spectra of natural scenes.

Objective: To compare the spectrographic vocal characteristics of transsexual women with those of cisgender women and to analyze the videolaryngostroboscopic characteristics of transsexual women. Methods: Retrospective, cross-sectional and quantitative study with people between 19 and 44 years old. A sample composed of images of videolaryngostroboscopic of 15 transsexual women was evaluated by three otorhinolaryngologists rated the images on a range of parameters, for statistical analysis, we used the t-test, ANOVA F-test, with a significance level of 5% (p ≤ 0.05). Three speech therapist judges analyzed spectrographic images of 31 transsexual women and 32 cisgender women and the T test was used for independent samples with a significance level of 5%. Results: In the 15 images of videolaryngostroboscopic, almost half of the participants had complete glottic closure and the other half had different types of glottic slits, and most of the individuals had an equal vertical level of PPVV approach. In the broadband spectrographic of the 32 cisgender women, the following aspects were significantly better than in the group of transsexual women: intensity of the color of the tracing in all evaluated items; definition and regularity of formants 1, 2, and 4; bandwidth of all formants; and regularity of the tracing in all evaluated items. The 31 transsexual women showed significance for antiresonance immediately above the first formant and at low frequencies. Narrowband spectrographic of the 32 cisgender women, the following aspects were significantly better than in the group of transsexual women: intensity of the color of the tracing in all evaluated items; presence of noise in medium and high frequencies and in the spectrogram as a whole; replacement of harmonics by noise at medium and high frequencies and in the spectrogram as a whole; definition and regularity of harmonics at high frequencies; number of harmonics at high frequencies and in the spectrogram as a whole; and presence of subharmonics at high frequencies. Conclusion: In transsexual women, aspects compatible with increased nasality were higher and aspects related to noise were lower, suggesting vocal adjustments in an attempt at vocal feminization. The other aspects showed male characteristics, indicating that transsexual women need professional assistance to feminize their voices. Objetivo: Comparar as características vocais espectrográficas de mulheres transexuais com as de mulheres cisgênero e analisar as características videolaringoestroboscópicas de mulheres transexuais. Métodos: Estudo retrospectivo, transversal e quantitativo com pessoas entre 19 a 44 anos de idade. Uma amostra composta por imagens de videolaringoestroboscopias de 15 mulheres transexuais foi avaliada por três juízes otorrinolaringologistas que classificaram as imagens em uma série de parâmetros, para análise estatística, foi utilizado o teste t, ANOVA F-test, com um nível de significância de 5% (p ≤ 0,05). Três juízas fonoaudiólogas analisaram imagens espectrográficas de 31 mulheres transexuais e de 32 mulheres cisgênero e utilizou-se o teste T para amostras independentes com nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: Nas 15 imagens de videolaringoestroboscopia, quase metade do grupo apresentou fechamento glótico completo e a outra metade apresentou diferentes tipos de fendas glóticas, e a maioria dos indivíduos apresentou nível vertical de aproximação de PPVV igual. Na espectrografia de banda larga das 32 mulheres cisgênero, os aspectos a seguir estiveram significativamente melhores que no grupo de mulheres transexuais: intensidade da cor do traçado em todos os itens avaliados; definição e regularidade dos formantes 1, 2 e 4; largura de banda de todos os formantes; e regularidade do traçado em todos os itens avaliados. As 31 mulheres transexuais apresentaram significância para a antirressonância imediatamente acima do primeiro formante e nas baixas frequências. Na espectrografia de banda estreita das 32 mulheres cisgênero, os aspectos a seguir estiveram significativamente melhores que no grupo de mulheres transexuais: intensidade da cor do traçado em todos os itens avaliados; presença de ruído nas médias e altas frequências e no espectrograma como um todo; substituição de harmônico por ruído nas médias e altas frequências e no espectrograma como um todo; definição e regularidade de harmônicos nas altas frequências; número de harmônicos nas altas frequências e no espectrograma como um todo; e presença de sub-harmônicos nas altas frequências. Conclusão: Nas mulheres transexuais, foram maiores os aspectos compatíveis com maior nasalidade e os aspectos relacionados ao ruído foram menores, sugerindo ajustes vocais na tentativa de feminilizar a voz. Mesmo com laringe masculina e sem fonoterapia, as mulheres transexuais demonstraram utilizar adaptações laríngeas para feminilização vocal, indicando a necessidade de auxílio profissional para a feminilização da voz.

The adequate respiratory support ensures resonance, projection, focus, stability, and better vocal quality. The aim of this study was to verify the relationship between the activation of the core musculature and the spectrographic acoustic vocal characteristics in a group of adult women. This is a cross-sectional, observational, analytical, and quantitative study with ten women 19 to 28 years old, without vocal complaints, and without laryngeal disorders. Spectrographic vocal analysis, maximum expiratory pressure measurement, and evaluation of the multifidus, transverse and perineum muscles were performed. The data were analyzed using the Spearman Correlation Test at 5 %. The results showed significant positive correlation between the maximum expiratory pressure and the definition of the second formant; between the activation of the perineal muscle and the regularity of the spectrographic tracing. And showed significant negative correlation between the activation of the multifidus muscles and the width of the second formant. It was concluded that the more activated the perineal musculature, the greater the regularity of the spectrographic tracing; the higher the maximum expiratory pressure, the greater the definition of the second formant; and the greater the activation of the multifidus muscles, the smaller the bandwidth of the second formant. Such findings demonstrate the role of the core strength in the vocal quality. A relationship was established among the maximum expiratory pressure, the activation of the core muscles, and the spectrographic vocal characteristics. El soporte respiratorio adecuado asegura resonancia, proyección, enfoque, estabilidad y mejor calidad vocal. El objetivo de este estudio fue verificar la relación entre la activación de la musculatura de lo centro de fuerza corporal y las características vocales acústicas espectrográficas en un grupo de mujeres adultas. Este es un estudio transversal, observacional, analítico y cuantitativo con diez mujeres de 19 a 28 años de edad, sin dolencias vocales y sin trastornos laríngeos. Se realizaron análisis vocales espectrográficos, medición de la presión espiratoria máxima y evaluación de los músculos multifidus, transverso y perineo. Los datos se analizaron utilizando la prueba de correlación de Spearman al 5%. Los resultados mostraron una correlación positiva significativa entre la presión espiratoria máxima y la definición del segundo formante; entre la activación del músculo perineal y la regularidad del trazado espectrográfico. Y mostró una correlación negativa significativa entre la activación de los músculos multifidos y el ancho del segundo formante. Se concluyó que cuanto más activada es la musculatura perineal, mayor es la regularidad del trazado espectrográfico; cuanto mayor es la presión espiratoria máxima, mayor es la definición del segundo formante; y cuanto mayor es la activación de los músculos multifidos, menor es el ancho de banda del segundo formante. Tales resultados demuestran el papel de lo centro de fuerza corporal en la calidad vocal. Se estableció una relación entre la presión espiratoria máxima, la activación de los músculos de lo centro de fuerza corporal y las características vocales espectrográficas. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a relação entre a ativação da musculatura do centro de força corporal e as características vocais acústicas espectrográficas em um grupo de mulheres adultas. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, observacional, analítico e quantitativo, com dez mulheres entre 19 e 28 anos de idade, sem queixas vocais e sem alterações laríngeas. Foram realizadas análises vocais acústicas espectrográficas, medida da pressão expiratória máxima e avaliação dos músculos multífídos, transverso e períneo. Os dados foram analisados pelo Teste de Correlação de Spearman com significância de 5%. Os resultados mostraram correlação positiva significativa entre a pressão expiratória máxima e a definição do segundo formante; entre a ativação do músculo perineal e a regularidade do traçado espectrográfico. E mostrou correlação negativa significativa entre a ativação dos músculos multífídos e a largura do segundo formante. Concluiu-se que quanto mais ativada a musculatura perineal, maior a regularidade do traçado espectrográfico; quanto maior a pressão expiratória máxima, maior a definição do segundo formante; e quanto maior a ativação dos músculos multífídos, menor é a largura de banda do segundo formante. Tais resultados demonstram o papel do centro de força corporal na qualidade vocal. Foi estabelecida uma relação entre a pressão expiratória máxima, a ativação dos músculos do centro de força corporal e as características vocais espectrográficas.

A highly experienced versatile female professional singer displaying no apparent vocal complaint, developed inhaling singing, an innovative approach to reverse phonation. Although there are some reports in literature that describe the characteristics of ingressive phonation and sounds, to the best of our knowledge, no reports on actual inhaling singing are available in literature. This paper reports a case study on the acoustical analysis of inhaling singing, comparing this innovative technique with traditional exhaling singing. As this is rather undiscovered territory, we have decided to address several questions: is it possible to match the same pitches using inhaling singing compared to exhaling singing? Is the harmonic structure and energy distribution similar? Is it possible to maintain the same phonation duration in both techniques? Are there differences in volume and tessitura (vocal range)? This paper, reporting on the experience of one individual, demonstrates that a tessitura can be mastered in inhaling singing. Spectral analysis reveals a similar frequency distribution in both conditions. However, in inhaling singing the energy of the harmonics is significantly lower for the first 3 overtones, while the maximum phonation time is larger, than in exhaling singing. The singer reports that less effort is required for inhaling singing in the high register. As such, inhaling singing offers new possibilities for vocal performance. BACKGROUND: Five-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is used for fluorescence-guided resections of malignant glioma at a dose of 20 mg/kg; yet, it is unknown whether lower doses may also provide efficacy. OBJECTIVE: To perform a double-blinded randomized study comparing 3 different doses of 5-ALA. METHODS: Twenty-one patients with suspected malignant glioma were randomly assigned to 0.2, 2, or 20 mg/kg 5-ALA. Investigators were unaware of dose. Intraoperatively, regions of interest were first defined in tumor core, margin, and adjacent white matter under white light. Under violet–blue illumination, the surgeon's impression of fluorescence was recorded per region, followed by spectrometry and biopsy. Plasma was collected after administration and analyzed for 5-ALA and protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) content. RESULTS: The positive predictive value of fluorescence was 100%. Visual and spectrometric fluorescence assessment showed 20 mg/kg to elicit the strongest fluorescence in tumor core and margins, which correlated with cell density. Spectrometric and visual fluorescence correlated significantly. A 10-fold increase in 5-ALA dose (2-20 mg/kg) resulted in a 4-fold increase of fluorescence contrast between marginal tumor and adjacent brain. tmax for 5-ALA was 0.94 h for 20 mg/kg (0.2 kg: 0.50 h, 2 mg/kg: 0.61 h). Integrated PPIX plasma levels were 255.8 and 779.9 mcg*h/l (2 vs 20 mg/kg). Peak plasma concentrations were observed at 1.89 ± 0.71 and 7.83 ± 0.68 h (2 vs 20 mg/kg; average ± Standard Error of Mean [SEM]). CONCLUSION: The highest visible and measurable fluorescence was yielded by 20 mg/kg. No fluorescence was elicited at 0.2 mg/kg. Increasing 5-ALA doses did not result in proportional increases in tissue fluorescence or PPIX accumulation in plasma, indicating that doses higher than 20 mg/kg will not elicit useful increases in fluorescence.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Objective: To develop and search for evidence of validity and reliability of the spectrographic vocal evaluation protocol. Methods: Methodological study for development and validation of an evaluation instrument. Extensive literature research has been conducted to develop and substantiate the Spectrographic Vocal Assessment Protocol (PAVE). The PAVE items were sent to five expert judges, non- research speech therapists, doctors and clinicians, with minimum experience of five years in the field of voice and spectrographic acoustic analysis, who individually analyzed the protocol items. For the analysis of concordance between the judges, the Gwet analysis and the Content Validity Ratio formula (CVR) were used. For reliability analysis, two audiologist judges analyzed with the PAVE the spectrographs of 50 women aged 25 to 62 years, 25 with previous otolaryngological diagnosis of normal larynx or grade I and 25 triangular cleft diagnosed with vocal fold alterations. For spectrographic evaluation, emission of the vowel /a:/ was analyzed by the Real Time Spectrogram. For reliability data reliability, inter and intra-rater analysis was performed using the Kendall coefficient. For criterion validity, the t test for independent samples was used to compare the average performance of the protocol between the two groups of subjects. Results: The PAVE was developed based on the literature, subdivided into Broadband and Narrowband. As for the analysis expert judges twenty-four items of the protocol had CVR=1,0 and 25 items had CVR=0,6. Gwet's AC1 analysis indicated substantial agreement (0,656) for broadband and near perfect (0,888) for narrowband items. The reliability of the protocol for broadband items, concordance among judges ranged from moderate (0,462) to almost perfect (0,888), being significant for all items, and intra-rater concordance was almost perfect (0,865-1,000) and significant for all items. For narrowband items, concordance between judges varied from moderate (0,469) to almost perfect (0,922), being significant for all items, except for the item "presence of sub-harmonics in high frequencies", where agreement was moderate (0,504), but not significant, and the intra-rater agreement was almost perfect (0,874-1,000) and significant for all items. Validity of criterion: for most broadband and narrow items, groups with normal or altered diagnosis differed statistically. Conclusion: PAVE presents evidence of satisfactory content validity, criterion and reliability, being reliable for the spectrographic vocal evaluation. Objetivo: Desenvolver e buscar evidências de validade e fidedignidade do protocolo de avaliação vocal espectrográfica. Métodos: Estudo metodológico para desenvolvimento e validação de um instrumento de avaliação. Realizou-se ampla pesquisa na literatura para desenvolver e fundamentar o Protocolo de Avaliação Vocal Espectrográfica (PAVE). Os itens do PAVE foram enviados para cinco juízes especialistas, fonoaudiólogos não autores da pesquisa, doutores e clínicos, com experiência mínima de cinco anos na área de voz e análise acústica espectrográfica, que analisaram individualmente os itens do protocolo. Para análise de concordância entre os juízes, utilizou-se a análise Gwet e a fórmula de Razão de Validade de Conteúdo (RVC). Para análise de fidedignidade, dois juízes fonoaudiólogos analisaram com o PAVE as espectrografias de 50 mulheres com idades entre 25 e 62 anos, 25 com diagnóstico otorrinolaringológico prévio de laringe normal ou de fenda triangular grau I e 25 com diagnóstico de alterações em pregas vocais. Para avaliação espectrográfica foi analisada emissão da vogal /a:/ por meio do Real Time Spectrogram. Para análise dos dados de fidedignidade, realizou-se a análise inter e intra-avaliadores, através do coeficiente Kendall. Para validade de critério, utilizou-se o teste t para amostras independentes visando comparar o desempenho médio do protocolo entre os dois grupos de sujeitos. Resultados: Desenvolveu-se o PAVE com base na literatura, subdividido em Banda Larga e Banda Estreita. Quanto a análise juízes especialistas vinte e quatro itens do protocolo apresentaram RVC=1,0 e 25 itens apresentaram RVC=0,6. A análise AC1 de Gwet indicou concordância substancial (0,656) para os itens de banda larga e quase perfeita (0,848) para os itens de banda estreita. A fidedignidade do protocolo para os itens de banda larga, a concordância entre juízes variou de moderada (0,462) a quase perfeita (0,888), sendo significativa para todos os itens, e a concordância intra-avaliadores foi quase perfeita (0,865-1,000) e significativa para todos os itens. Para os itens de banda estreita, a concordância entre juízes variou de moderada (0,469) a quase perfeita (0,922), sendo significativa para todos os itens, exceto para o item “presença de sub- harmônicos nas altas frequências”, em que a concordância foi moderada (0,504), mas não significativa, e a concordância intra-avaliadores foi quase perfeita (0,874- 1,000) e significativa para todos os itens. Validade de critério: para a maioria dos itens de banda larga e estreita, os grupos com diagnóstico normal ou alterado diferiram estatisticamente. Conclusão: O PAVE apresenta evidências de validade de conteúdo, critério e fidedignidade consideradas satisfatórias, sendo confiável para a avaliação vocal espectrográfica.

Spektrografska analiza govora je pouzdana metoda koja omogućava izdvajanje kvantitativnih parametara glasa. Primenjena je u ovom radu za poređenje različitih oblika komunikacije kod laringektomiranih bolesnika. Cilj istraživanja je da se utvrdi povezanost između parametara spektralne analize i razumljivosti govora kod laringektomiranih bolesnika, kao i uticaj ovih parametara na stepen razumljivosti govora. Uzorkom je obuhvaćeno 125 laringektomiranih pacijenata oba pola, starosti od 48 do 85 godina. Spektrografska analiza sprovedena je primenom kompjuterizovane Laboratorije za ispitivanje glasa i govora “Kay Elemetrics“ korporacije, model 4300. U radu je korišćen „Balansirani tekstˮ za analizu govora i glasa. U statističkoj obradi podataka korišćena je deskriptivna statistika. Razlike su testirane jednofaktorskom analizom varijanse (ANOVA) i t testom za velike nezavisne uzorke, kao i t testom za jedan uzorak. Povezanost je ispitana Pirsonovim koeficijentom korelacije. Univarijantna linearna regresiona analiza korišćena je za utvrđivanje uticaja prediktora na zavisnu varijablu. Utvrđena je samo jedna statistički značajna povezanost parametra IF2 (r = -0,41, p = 0,009) sa ocenom na Testu razumljivosti govora kod ezofagealnih pacijenata i jedna statistički značajna povezanost parametra IF2 (r = 0,35, p = 0,025) sa ocenom na Testu razumljivosti govora kod pacijenata koji koriste elektrolarinks. Rezultati regresione analize su pokazali da je varijabla IF2 statistički značajni prediktor rezultata na Testu razumljivosti kod ezofagealnih pacijenata, objašnjavajuči 14% varijanse (β = -0,41, p = 0,009). U grupi pacijenata koji koriste elektrolarinks varijabla IF2 je statistički značajna u predikciji rezultata na Testu razumljivosti, objašnjavajuči 10% varijanse (β = 0,35, p = 0,025 Spectrographic analysis of speech is a reliable method which enables deriving quantitative parameters of voice. In this study, it was used for comparing different forms of communication in laryngectomy patients. The aim of the research was to determine the connection between parameters of spectral analysis and speech understanding in laryngectomy patients, as well as the impact of these parameters on the degree of speech understanding. The study sample included 125 laryngectomy patients of both genders, 48 to 85 years of age. Spectrographic analysis was carried out by implementing the computerized Laboratory for examining voice and speech of “Kay Elemetrics Corporation“, model 4300. The “Balanced text“ for the analysis of speech and voice was used in this study. In statistical data processing, the descriptive statistics was used. The differences were tested by the single factor Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and by the independent sample t test, and also by a single sample t test. The connection was examined by Pearson correlation coefficient. Univariate linear regression analysis was used for determining the influence of the predictor on the dependent variable. Only one significant connection of the parameter IF2 (r = -0.41, p = 0.009) with speech understanding test assessment was determined in esophageal patients, and one statistically significant connection of the parameter IF2 (r = 0.35, p = 0.025) with the speech understanding test assessment in patients who use electrolarynx. The results of the regression analysis showed that the variable IF2 was a statistically significant predictor of the Understanding test results in esophageal patients, explaining 14% of the variance (Beta = -0.41, p = 0.009). In a group of patients who used electrolarynx, the variable IF2 was statistically significant in the prediction of the Understanding test, explaining 10% of the variance (β = 0.35, p = 0.025).

Methods: Twenty hypernasal speakers with cleft palate (12 females and 8 males, median age 28.45 years), who were wearing speech bulbs underwent an intensive speech therapy program of 45 sessions over 3 weeks. Three experienced speech-language pathologists rated the participants’ speech recordings before and after intensive speech therapy, with and without the speech bulb. Nasometric recordings and long-term averaged spectra were also analyzed using repeated-measures ANOVAs. Countries are consistently having the same phonetic problems they had. This article wants to present two methods commonly used when comparing languages (contrastive analysis and statistics) and add two more, relatively fresh methods (spectrographic analysis and Johari windows), in order to find a new angle to look at old problems. By taking into account more points of view, the resulting data could be a starting point for future researchers facilitating EFL learning for future generations.

O emprego de novas tecnologias na avaliação e terapia de fala a partir de uma revisão de artigos publicados nos últimos 5 anos é o tema deste estudo, que tem por objetivo realizar uma revisão bibliográfica dos estudos nacionais e internacionais que utilizaram os recursos: eletroglotografia, espectrografia, ultrassonografia e eletromiografia na avaliação e terapia das alterações de fala. Existe um crescente interesse da inserção desses recursos nos estudos de fala, contudo, os trabalhos existentes que os correlacionam ainda são escassos. The use of new technologies in the evaluation and speech therapy from a review of articles published over the past 5 years is the theme of this study which also has as a purpose to conduct a literature review of national and international studies that used the keywords: electroglottography, spectrography, ultrasonography and electromyography in the evaluation and therapy of speech disorders. There is a growing interest in the integration of these resources in studies of speech; however, the existing studies that correlate the assessment are still scarce.

The paper introduces a design of radio spectrography receiver that shall serve as equipment for reception, monitoring, and processing of solar radio bursts. These burst can affect operation of many radio communication and navigation services as is presented on example of GPS satellites signal degradation. The concept and design of the spectrography receiver is presented together with discussion of hardware requirements and proposed solution.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar as modificações vocais perceptivo-auditivas e acústicas ocorridas após um método de fonoterapia breve usando três modalidades de fonação em tubos em um sujeito do gênero masculino com paralisia unilateral de prega vocal medializada cirurgicamente. Paciente do gênero masculino, 29 anos e um mês de idade, com diagnóstico otorrinolaringológico de paralisia de prega vocal esquerda em abdução e encaminhado para cirurgia de medialização da prega vocal esquerda (Tiroplastia tipo I) e fonoterapia. Foram realizadas cinco coletas da emissão da vogal /a:/ em momentos distintos, sendo eles: antes da cirurgia; após dez dias da cirurgia (antes da fonoterapia); após seis dias de execução da técnica de fonação em tubo de látex imerso em água; após seis dias de execução de fonação em tubo de vidro imerso em água; após seis dias de execução da fonação em tubo de menor diâmetro. Foi realizada avaliação acústica de fonte glótica, espectrográfica e perceptivo-auditiva. A fonoterapia com os três diferentes exercícios de fonação em tubo, durante 18 dias de tratamento condensado, proporcionou na análise acústica, melhora da maioria das medidas de perturbação de frequência e de componentes surdos ou não sonorizados; da intensidade da cor do traçado da espectrografia de banda larga, da regularidade dos traçados espectrográficos e da definição dos formantes; na análise perceptivo-auditiva, houve redução de tensão, aspereza e soprosidade. ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to verify the perceptive-auditory and acoustic voice changes after speech therapy with phonation into tubes in a male subject with unilateral vocal fold paralysis, medialized surgically. The patient was a male, twenty nine years and one month, with otorhinolaryngological diagnosis of left vocal fold paralysis in abduction. The subject was referred to medialization surgery of the left vocal fold (Thyroplasty type I) and to speech therapy. Five collections of the vowel /a:/ occurred at different times, as follows: before surgery; ten days after surgery (before speech therapy); six days after the performance of the technique of phonation into latex tube immersed in water; six days after the performance of the technique of phonation into glass tube immersed in water; six days after the performance of the technique of phonation into tube of smaller diameter. There was acoustic analysis of glottal source, spectrographic analysis and perceptive-auditory analysis. Final comments: The speech therapy with three different exercises of phonation, for 18 days, provided, in the acoustic analysis, improvement of most frequency perturbation measures and measures of voiceless or not sounded components; improvement of the intensity of the tracing color of the wide-band spectroscopy; improvement of the regularity of the spectrographic tracing and of the definition of formants; in the perceptive-auditory analysis, there was reduction of tension, roughness and breathiness.

Thermo oxidative degradation at and beyond process- ing temperatures has been carried out on ABS copoly- mer grafted with Maleic Anhydride (ABS- g -Ma) and three nanocomposites with the above material melt-blended with different types of POSS, being amino-propyl isobutyl (APOSS), glycidyl (GPOSS), and trisilanol (TPOSS). The incorporation adequacy of the nanofillers into the matrix has been assessed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), whereas the quantification of the thermal degradation behavior of each sample was carried out through infrared spectrography (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) including the degra- dation kinetics and color spectrophotometry (Cielab). Although the results show adequate incorporation and miscibility of the nanofillers into the matrix, the GPOSS and the TPOSS nanocomposites provided no relevant improvements in thermal stability when compared with the base ABS- g -Ma, and the APOSS blend exhibits a very slight decay in almost all the quantitative analysis carried out in this work.

OBJETIVO: caracterizar as espectrografias vocais de um grupo de homens adultos jovens. MÉTODO : 25 homens adultos jovens, sem queixas vocais, com diagnóstico otorrinolaringológico de laringe sem afecção, realizaram a emissão sustentada da vogal [a] em pé e com frequência e intensidade habituais. As emissões foram analisadas pelo programa Real Time Spectrogram da Kay Pentax®, que originou um espectrograma de banda larga e outro de banda estreita para cada sujeito. Estes foram duplicados, para aumentar a fidedignidade do estudo, e enviados a três fonoaudiólogas juízas que realizaram o julgamento dos mesmos seguindo um protocolo. Os resultados foram analisados estatisticamente pelo Teste para Diferenças de Proporções com nível de significância de 5 %. RESULTADOS: na Espectrografia de Banda Larga, houve significância estatística para ruído muito presente nas frequências em torno de 3,2KHz, pouca definição do terceiro formante, pouca regularidade do traçado e anti-ressonância mediana. Na Espectrografia de Banda Estreita, houve fraca intensidade das frequências em torno de 3,2KHz e em todo espectro, ruído muito presente em todo espectro e nas frequências em torno de 3,2KHz, ruído mediano nas baixas frequências, pouca regularidade do traçado e anti-ressonância mediana. CONCLUSÃO: a análise espectrográfica dos homens adultos jovens, com laringe sem afecções e sem queixas vocais, revelou grande quantidade de ruído em todo o espectro e nas frequências em torno de 3,2KHz, terceiro formante pouco definido, ruído mediano nas baixas frequências, traçado pouco regular, anti-ressonância mediana, fraca intensidade em todo espectro e, em especial, nas frequências em torno de 3,2KHz. PURPOSE: to characterize voice spectrography of a group of young adult men. METHOD: 25 young adult men, without vocal complaints, with otorhinolaryngological larynx diagnosis without disease, have done the supported emission of the vowel [a] standing and with the usual frequency and intensity. The emission was carried thought to analyze Real Time Spectrogram of Kay Pentax®, giving a spectrogram of wide band and another of narrow band for each subject. These were doubled in order to increase the reliability of the study and were sent to three judge's language pathologists that have to do the judgment of the same following a protocol. The results were analyzed statically by a test to different from proportion with significant level of 5%. RESULTS: in the wide band spectrograph there was a statistical significance to noise present in the frequencies around 3,2KHz, a little definition of the third formants, a little regularity of the line and anti-resonance average. In the narrow band spectrograph there was weak acutely of the frequencies around 3,2KHz and in all spectrum, noise is very present throughout the spectrum and in the frequencies around 3,2KHz, noise at low frequencies median, low regularity of the tracing and anti-resonance medium. CONCLUSION: the spectrographic analyze have been developed in large portion of the noise in all spectrum and in the frequencies around 3,2KHz, little defined third formant, average noise in the low frequencies, the line being a little regular and average anti-resonance, weak acutely in all spectrum and in special, in the frequencies around 3,2KHz.

INTRODUCTION An analysis of long term voice quality outcomes of two different types of surgical intervention for Tis and T1 glottic carcinoma: laryngofissure conventional cordectomy and endoscopic laser CO(2) cordectomy, with or without additional radiation therapy. MATERIAL AND METHODS Total of 46 patients with Tis and T1 glottic carcinoma served as subjects. All have been treated surgically with laryngofissure conventional cordectomy (32.61%) or endoscopic laser CO(2) cordectomy (67.39%). The surgeries were performed in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Medical University of Warsaw (1990-2004). The presented voice assessments were made at least 3 years following the surgery, in between January 2006 and February 2007. RESULTS In patients after the endoscopic laser CO(2) cordectomy the following findings are more often observed: the unrestrained voice production, wider range of Fo in a spoken sentence, longer maximum phonation time, better intensity of phonation for normal and loud speaking, lower degree of hoarseness based on the Yanagihara's classification, and the lower VHI. No significant influence of the performed additional radiotherapy on voice parameters was found. CONCLUSIONS Patients after endoscopic laser CO(2) cordectomy, compared to laryngofissure conventional cordectomy, present better voice quality. The amount of the excised vocal fold tissue, which in our study was slightly larger in case of the conventional cordectomy, could account for the results mentioned above. This may also be explained by the necessity of the anterior thyrotomy, which is required for conventional cordectomy via external approach, and often results in anterior synechia and level difference between the neocord and the contralateral vocal fold.

Spektrometar sa CCD detektorom kompaktna je varijanta spektrometra s difrakcijskom rešetkom, bez pomičnih dijelova koje inače sadrži svaki „klasični“ spektrometar. U ovom spektrometru difrakcijska je rešetka nepomična, a spektar se registrira na CCD detektoru linearnog tipa. U prvom dijelu rada bit će objašnjena teorijska podloga spektrografije. Nakon toga bit će objašnjen princip rada jednostavnih spektrografskih ureĎaja, uz odvojeni osvrt na različite tipove detektora. Na primjeru će biti prikazano kako radi USB spektrometar te će se njime istražiti neki tipični spektri. U posljednjem, metodičkom dijelu rada, bit će istražena mogućnost konstrukcije jednostavnog priručnog spektrometra. Uz vrlo nisku cijenu kombiniranu s jednostavnom izradom, ovakav spektrometar moguće je lako konstruirati te primijeniti u školskoj nastavi. Spectrometer with a CCD detector is a compact version of a diffraction grating spectrometer, without any movable parts that can normally be found in a „classic“ spectrometer. In this spectrometer, the diffraction grating is non-movable, and the spectrum is measured on a linear CCD detector. In the first part of this thesis we will explain the basic theoretical background of spectrography. After that we will explain the basic operation of typical spectrographic devices, with a separate part dedicated to different types of detectors. We will also show how a USB spectrometer is operated and explore the spectra of some typical sources. In the last, educational part of this thesis, we will consider the possibility of constructing a simple hand-held spectrometer. With an extremely low price combined with a simple construction, this type of spectrometer could easily be assembled and used in schools.

Objetivo: deste estudo foi verificar os ajustes laríngeos realizados por cantores profissionais do gênero popular durante a imitação do canto em estilo lírico uma vez que muitas vezes ao ouvirmos um cantor popular interpretar uma música clássica percebemos que o mesmo faz modificações em sua qualidade vocal, tentando se aproximar, por imitação, do canto lírico. Forma de estudo: Clínico prospectivo. Material e método: Foram analisados 26 cantores profissionais do gênero popular, 10 homens e 16 mulheres, atuantes em baile. Foi aplicado questionário sobre perfil vocal, realizada análise perceptivo-auditiva e acústica das vozes e avaliação nasofibrolaringoscópica para análise da configuração laríngea nos estilos de canto popular e lírico. Resultado: A análise perceptivo-auditiva revelou que, ao cantar um trecho de música em estilo lírico, o cantor popular muda a qualidade vocal, aumentando o vibrato, o volume vocal, melhorando a ressonância vocal e sobrearticulando mais as palavras. Na análise espectrográfica não foi observada a ocorrência do formante do cantor em nenhuma das vozes. O ajuste laríngeo realizado por cantores populares ao imitarem o estilo de canto lírico foi predominantemente o aumento das constrições ântero-posterior e mediana sendo que a constrição mediana ocorreu mais no sexo masculino. Os valores de jitter e shimmer reduziram significantemente na vogal cantada em relação à vogal falada nas vozes femininas.Aim: The aim of this study was to check over laryngeal arrangement used by professional singers of pop music. This idea came from the fact that many times we notice vocal quality changes when we hear pop singers trying to sing opera music. Study design: Clinical prospective. Material and method: A number of 26 subjects was analyzed, 10 males and 16 females, all of them were pop professional singers that worked in dancing shows. A questionnaire was used to check out vocal profile of the subjects. Perceptual-auditory and acoustic analysis was performed. Laryngeal assessment with a flexible endoscope was performed to investigate laryngeal configuration in the pop and opera style. Results: The perceptual-auditory analysis allowed us to observe that the pop singers change their vocal quality when trying to sing a piece of an opera music, increasing vibrato and vocal volume, enhancing vocal resonance and overarticulating the words. The spectrographic analysis didn't show the presence of the singer formant in any of the subject's voices. The laryngeal arrangement of pop singers singing opera music was characterized, in the majority, by an increase of the antero-posterior and median supraglotic closure. Median supraglotic closure cropped up more among the male. Jitter and shimmer values decreased for the sung vowel when compared to the spoken one. These values were statistically significant for the female voices.

Introdução: A avaliação da qualidade vocal pode ser realizada pelos métodos perceptivo auditivo e acústico, e não existem termos padronizados para a sua descrição. Entretanto, dois desses termos merecem atenção quanto aos parâmetros que os distinguem: a aspereza e a rouquidão, ambos denominados genericamente de rouquidão na literatura. Objetivo: Avaliar comparativamente vozes roucas, ásperas e normais por meio da espectrografia. Forma de estudo: Prospectivo clínico randomizado. Material e método: Seis vozes roucas, seis ásperas e seis normais foram selecionadas por meio da avaliação perceptivo auditiva, e analisadas espectrograficamente sob cinco parâmetros: análise da freqüência fundamental (f0), extensão dos harmônicos, definição de harmônicos, presença de ruído entre os harmônicos e acima deles. Resultados: As vozes roucas apresentaram f0 mais grave e as ásperas mais aguda quando comparadas com as vozes normais. Considerando o espectrograma de 0 a 5,4 kHz, o valor médio da freqüência que o harmônico mais alto alcançou foi 4.555 Hz para vozes normais, 2.125 Hz para vozes ásperas e 1.147 Hz para vozes roucas. O traçado dos harmônicos nas vozes roucas apresentou qualidade de definição inferior aos outros dois tipos de vozes e maior quantidade de ruído entre e acima dos harmônicos. Conclusões: Existem diferenças espectrográficas marcantes entre essas vozes. Os harmônicos estão presentes em grande quantidade e com melhor definição nas vozes normais, e decrescem em quantidade e qualidade nas vozes ásperas e roucas, respectivamente. Inversamente, o ruído está presente em grande quantidade e de modo difuso nas vozes roucas e em menor quantidade nas vozes ásperas e normais. Introduction: Vocal quality can be assessed by auditory perceptual and acoustic methods. The terms used to describe vocal quality aren’t standardized. However, two of them deserve special attention regarding the parameters that distinguish roughness and hoarseness, both usually called as hoarseness in the literature. Aim: To evaluate comparatively and to define basic differences among hoarse, rough and normal voices using acoustic spectrography. Study Design: Prospective clinical randomized. Material and Method: Six hoarse, six rough and six normal voices sorted by auditory perceptual evaluation, and analyzed by spectrography under five parameters: fundamental frequency (f0), extension of harmonics, definition of harmonics, presence of noise between the harmonics and up them. Results: Hoarse voices presented lower f0, whereas rough voices showed higher f0 in comparison to normal voices. Considering the spectrogram from 0 to 5,4 kHz, the mean value of the uppermost harmonic frequency reached 4.555 Hz for normal voices, 2.125 Hz for rough voices and 1.147 Hz for hoarse voices. Harmonic tracing in hoarse voices showed worse definition and greater amount of noise among and up the harmonics. Conclusions: There are striking spectrographic differences among hoarse, rough and normal voices. Harmonics are present in greater amount and show better definition in normal voices, and decrease in amount in rough and hoarse voices respectively. Inversely, noise appears in great amount and in a diffuse way in hoarse voices and in smaller amount in rough and normal voices.

Objetivo verificar as características do vibrato de cantores profissionais de acordo com o estilo da música gospel; e se o comando verbal para a realização do vibrato interfere em suas características. Métodos aprovação do CEP. Analisou-se as características espectrográficas do vibrato de 20 cantores gospel profissionais, 06 homens e 14 mulheres (média de idade: 30 anos), por meio de dois estilos gospel – adoração e pentecostal. Estruturou-se duas situações de gravação – ausência e presença de comando verbal para a realização do vibrato. Todos os participantes responderam ao item de sinais e sintomas vocais do protocolo CPV-P e realizaram avaliação laringológica. Resultado observou-se que no estilo pentecostal 95% dos participantes realizaram vibrato regular, com maior variação da amplitude, maior energia do espectro e melhor definição dos harmônicos; na adoração 100% realizaram vibrato irregular, com menor variação da amplitude, menor energia no espectro e 50% tiveram presença de harmônicos com menor definição e 50% com ausência de harmônicos. Na análise espectrográfica observou-se que, no pentecostal, houve vibrato regular em 75% dos sujeitos, maior variação da amplitude em 65%, maior energia no espectro em 55%, e presença com maior definição em 70%, tanto para situação sem comando verbal quanto para a com comando para realização de vibrato. Não houve relação entre aulas de canto, terapia fonoaudiológica e características do vibrato. Conclusão o vibrato de cantores treinados modifica conforme o estilo gospel cantado. O comando verbal para a realização do vibrato aumenta a definição de regularidade, amplitude, energia no espectro e definição dos harmônicos. Purpose to investigate the characteristics of professional singers vibrato according to the style of gospel music, and check if the verbal command to perform the vibrato interferes with their characteristics. Methods we analyzed the characteristics of vibrato spectrography of 20 professional gospel’s singers, 06 men and 14 women, (mean age: 30 years), based on two gospel style – Pentecostal and adoration. Two situations were structured: with and without verbal commands to do the vibrato. All participants responded to the item of vocal signs and symptoms of CPV-P protocol and were submitted to videolaringoscopy. Result in comparing the spectrographic analysis of the pentecostal style with the adoration style it was observed that in the pentecostal style 95% of participants had regular vibrato, with greater amplitude variation, higher energy spectrum with better definition and presence of harmonics; in the adoration style 100% had irregular vibrato, with a smaller amplitude variation, lower energy spectrum and 50% had presence of harmonics with lower resolution and 50% had not harmonics. In the comparison of spectrographic analysis of the pentecostal style with and without verbal commands it was observed that 75% of the participants had regular vibrato, greater amplitude variation (65%) more energy in the spectrum (55%), with greater definition and presence in harmonics(70%). There was no statistical significance between vocal training and speech therapy. Conclusion The vibrato of singers trained change with the gospel style singing. The verbal command to do the vibrato increases the definition of regularity, amplitude, power spectrum and harmonic.
