The article analyses the phenomenon of historical video games and their influence on the formation of the world picture and ideas about the past among the younger generation. According to sociological surveys computer games are widely distributed among young people of different ages, while they are not only part of the entertainment industry, but also the strongest mean of broadcasting the values and behavioural attitudes and often knowledge (including false) about the world and the past. In this regard, it seems necessary to conduct a state policy to ensure the control of the video game sphere, which is an instrument of the “soft power” in the conditions of the modern global world.

The article studies the alcohol consumption in the Russian countryside after the implementation of the “dry law” in 1914. Mainly, the first years (1914-1915) of the restrictive measures for the production and distribution of alcoholic beverages in the country and their impact on the peasantry are considered. It is concluded that there are no grounds for asserting that in rural areas, immediately after the establishment of the “dry law” surrogates and moonshine products began to be widely distributed.

The article describes the consequences of the implementation of the prohibition known as the “dry law” of 1914 in the Russian Empire cities and villages. The article studies the impact of restrictive measures on the well-being of the population, health status, socio-cultural atmosphere, spiritual needs. On the basis of those years journalism analysis a conclusion is drawn about the differences in the prevalence of illegal alcohol consumption in the city and the countryside under the conditions of the “dry law”.

The article reviews the issue of the “Pub constitution” which was discussed in the State Duma of the Russian Empire (1907-1912), the issue when rural societies could control the presence of drinking establishment on their territory, a so called “Pub constitution”. It is the right rural societies had before 1890-s when the government started their wine monopoly and continued to take a fee from the owner of a pub for the permission to work in the rural area. The government getting rid of this constitution said about negative consequences (such as drinking). The peasants claimed to spend this money on the village development. Deputies of the State Duma tried to understand this issue.
