The global burden of controlling and managing diabetes mellitus (DM) is a significant challenge. Despite the advancements in conventional DM therapy, there remain hurdles to overcome, such as enhancing medication adherence and improving patient prognosis. Digital therapeutics (DTx), an innovative digital application, has been proposed to augment the traditional disease management workflow, particularly in managing chronic diseases like DM. Several studies have explored DTx, yielding promising results. However, certain concerns about this innovation persist. In this review, we aim to encapsulate the potential of DTx and its applications in DM management, thereby providing a comprehensive overview of this technique for public health policymakers.

Abstract Prostate cancer is a common malignant tumor at present, and there are still adverse reactions after radical prostatectomy. As many as 30% of patients complain of urinary incontinence (UI). This review begins with the pathophysiological basis of post‐prostatectomy urinary incontinence (PPUI) and describes the maintenance of normal urine control function, anatomical changes, and urodynamic maintenance of PPUI. Then, we talk about the various influencing factors of UI, for example, the differences caused by the basic condition of the patient, the length of the membranous urinary tract, the level of prostate‐specific antigen before operation, the method and technique of operation, and so on. Last, we introduce all kinds of treatments of PPUI in detail. It includes noninvasive conservative treatment, traditional surgical treatment, emerging stem cell therapy treatment, and postoperative psychotherapy of PPUI. The present situation of the treatment of UI after prostatectomy is summarized, and the prospect of the technology is put forward.

The green development of manufacturing industries is significantly impacted by local governments. In this study, we focus on assessing the environmental governance effectiveness by examining the tasks assigned by the central government to each province under the Comprehensive Work Program for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction. By utilizing panel data from 30 provinces and cities in China from 2011 to 2020, we employ the super-efficient SBM model to evaluate China's manufacturing industry's green total factor productivity. Through various models, including the double-fixed effect and the mediation effect, we investigate the influence of environmental governance targets on the green total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry. Our findings reveal a U-shaped relationship between the environmental governance target and the green total factor productivity of the manufacturing industry. When the pressure of environmental governance targets is below a certain critical value, the green total factor productivity decreases as the target pressure increases. However, once the target pressure surpasses this critical value, the green total factor productivity experiences a positive correlation with the target pressure. Further analysis demonstrates that this U-shaped relationship is observed in regions with low and medium marketization, while regions with high marketization remain unaffected. Moreover, the impact of environmental governance target pressure on green total factor productivity in manufacturing is facilitated by the promotion of green innovation. Furthermore, the relationship between environmental governance target pressure and green total factor productivity in manufacturing is moderated by local government fiscal expenditures. In regions where fiscal expenditures are higher, the influence of environmental governance target pressure on green total factor productivity in manufacturing is more pronounced.

Diabetes is a chronic prevalent disease that must be managed to improve the patient's quality of life. However, the limited healthcare management resources compared to the large diabetes mellitus (DM) population are an obstacle that needs modern information technology to improve. Digital twin (DT) is a relatively new approach that has emerged as a viable tool in several sectors of healthcare, and there have been some publications on DT in disease management. The systematic summary of the use of DTs and its potential applications in DM is less reported. In this review, we summarized the key techniques of DTs, proposed the potentials of DTs in DM management from different aspects, and discussed the concerns of this novel technique in DM management.

Motion estimation is a major issue in applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This paper proposes an entire solution to solve this issue using information from an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and a monocular camera. The solution includes two steps: visual location and multisensory data fusion. In this paper, attitude information provided by the IMU is used as parameters in Kalman equations, which are different from pure visual location methods. Then, the location of the system is obtained, and it will be utilized as the observation in data fusion. Considering the multiple updating frequencies of sensors and the delay of visual observation, a multi-rate delay-compensated optimal estimator based on the Kalman filter is presented, which could fuse the information and obtain the estimation of 3D positions as well as translational speed. Additionally, the estimator was modified to minimize the computational burden, so that it could run onboard in real time. The performance of the overall solution was assessed using field experiments on a quadrotor system, compared with the estimation results of some other methods as well as the ground truth data. The results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Improving the efficiency of converting natural resources into social benefits is an important issue for sustainable development in today's world. Based on this background this paper applies the super-efficient SBM model with non-expected output to measure the ecological welfare performance (EWP) of Chinese provinces from 2005-2019, and explores the relationship between government competition and EWP under different assessment systems. The research results show that government competition under economic performance assessment is self-interested and short-sighted, which can negatively affect ecological welfare performance in the current period as well as in the next four years. In contrast, government competition under the environmental assessment system promotes EWP in both the current and long term, balancing short-term and long-term benefits. The results of the spatial GMM found that government competition under economic performance appraisal can deteriorate EWP in local as well as surrounding areas, but government competition under the environmental assessment system can achieve an increase in local ecological welfare performance and the spillover effect is not significant. To alleviate the limitations of a single appraisal system, this paper incorporates both economic and ecological appraisals into the multidimensional appraisal system. When the weights of both are between 1:9 and 3:7, the government competition under multidimensional performance appraisal can promote both current and longer-term EWP, and achieve its own ecological welfare performance without affecting the surrounding areas.

Aiming at the problems of low resource utilization and high distribution cost of urban logistics enterprises, this paper introduces the threshold setting of large parcels, comprehensively considers the processing links of large parcels and standard parcels in loading, unloading, sorting, and other processing links, and constructs a logistics planning model with the type of multi-functional transit center as the variable and the total cost of the logistics system as the goal. Aiming at the shortcomings of the honey badger algorithm, three optimization strategies are used to improve the logistics model, and the effectiveness of the improved algorithm is verified by comparing with the CPLEX operation results. Based on the operation data of SF Jinzhou, this paper obtains the optimization results of large parcel threshold, multi-function transit center location layout, and terminal demand point allocation. From the results, the introduction of the threshold setting for large parcels has played a significant role in the joint optimization of multi-functional center location selection and terminal demand point allocation under multi-parcel distribution and provides theoretical data support for the existing urban logistics location problem.

Abstract Objective The objective of this study was to investigate the potential association between the inflammatory burden index (IBI) and the prevalence of chronic inflammatory airway diseases (CIAD), as well as mortality rates among individuals diagnosed with CIAD. Methods Participants were sourced from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted between 1999 and 2010. The IBI was calculated using the formula: IBI = C-reactive protein * neutrophils / lymphocytes. CIAD comprised self-reported asthma, chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mortality outcomes, including all-cause and respiratory disease mortality, were determined through linked data from the National Death Index (NDI) up to December 2019. Results A total of 27,495 adults were included. IBI was divided into quartiles, with the lowest quartile as the reference group. After adjusting for confounding variables, a positive correlation was observed between higher IBI and increased prevalence of total CIAD (OR = 1.383 [1.215–1.575]), asthma (OR = 1.267 [1.096–1.465]), chronic bronchitis (OR = 1.568 [1.263–1.946]), and COPD (OR = 1.907 [1.311–2.774]). Over a median follow-up of 12.33 [9.92-16.00] years, there were 1221 deaths from all causes and 220 deaths from respiratory disease among 4499 patients with CIAD. Following multivariate adjustments, the fourth quartile was significantly associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality (HR = 2.227 [1.714–2.893]) and respiratory disease mortality (HR = 2.748 [1.383–5.459]) compared to the first quartile of IBI in CIAD participants. Moreover, variable importance analysis using a random survival forest model demonstrated the significance of IBI in predicting mortality from both all-cause and respiratory diseases. Conclusion IBI exhibited an association with the prevalence of CIAD, with higher IBI levels correlating with elevated all-cause and respiratory disease mortality among individuals with CIAD.

To explore how microRNA-29a-3p influences the differentiation of neural stem cells into neurons and to identify any potential mechanisms involved. The program TargetScan, available online was utilized to examine and make predictions about the microRNA-29a-3p located upstream that regulate doublecortin X messenger ribonucleic acid. Ultimately, microRNA-29a-3p was preferred as the main central point of the investigation. The targeting of doublecortin X gene by microRNA-29a-3p was validated by employing a dual-luciferase reporter gene system. Before subjecting to adherent differentiation, the neural stem cells were transfected with microRNA-29a-3p inhibitor, microRNA-29a-3p mimic and normal control. MicroRNA and doublecortin X messenger ribonucleic acid levels were measured through quantitative reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction and doublecortin X protein levels were determined through Western blot assays. The differentiation of neuronal precursor cells was detected by doublecortin X immunofluorescence. Neuronal differentiation was detected by microtubule-associated protein 2 immunofluorescence. According to the dual-luciferase reporter gene system, miR-29a-3p targeted the doublecortin X gene; microRNA-29a-3p significantly decreased in differentiated cells for 3 d was observed, along with a significant reduction in levels of doublecortin X protein and messenger ribonucleic acid. On the other hand, a significant raise in microRNA-29a-3p in differentiated cells of microRNA-29a-3p mimic group for a period of 3 d was noticed with a significant drop in protein levels, doublecortin X messenger ribonucleic acid and doublecortin X immunofluorescence-positive neuronal precursor cells. From the microtubule-associated protein 2 immunofluorescence, it was confirmed that microRNA-29a-3p inhibitor group significantly elevated the total number of neurons, while microRNA-29a-3p mimic reduced the neurons on 7 d. ABSTRACT: Low hatchability has been a persistent challenge in the goose industry. Establishing standard atlases and comprehending embryonic development patterns are essential to improving the hatching rates of goose eggs. However, comprehensive descriptions of normal atlases, embryonic development, and energy requirements in geese are lacking. In this study, a total of 120 fertile eggs from well-known large Shitou goose were incubated using 12 nesting purebred female geese. During hatching, both the temperature of the eggshells and the weight of eggs were recorded, and daily photographs of the embryos were captured to monitor their development closely. After hatching, counted the number of pores per unit area of eggshells by choosing eggs from without sperm, dead embryos, and normally hatched. Furthermore, 150 Shitou goose eggs were hatched by automatic incubator, with adjustments made based on observed normal developmental stages that incubated by female geese. The eggs were carefully opened to meticulously document embryonic morphology and create a detailed development map. Measurements were taken of the eye diameter, length of the lower beak, tarsometatarsus bone, and embryo length. Subsequently, an analysis was conducted to assess the calcium, phosphorus, crude protein, and crude fat content to study the energy requirements for embryo development. characteristics on the 7th, 15th, 23rd and 28th days of Shitou goose hatching corresponded to the 5th, 10th, 17th and 19th days of chicken egg incubation, respectively. These days were distinguished individually by “visible embryo's eye”, “closure”, “sealing the door”, and “flashing hair”. Besides, the hatch rate of the incubator reached 86.67%, and the cumulative water loss rate increased with embryo age. Notably, normally developing embryos displayed a significantly higher number of pores on the eggshell surface compared to dead embryos (P < 0.05). Additionally, embryonic body length, eyeball diameter, and lower beak length exhibited continuous growth until day 19 of incubation, while tarsometatarsus length increased steadily from days 12 to 31. Liver size measurement began on the 10th day of incubation, while both leg and chest muscles showed continuous growth from the 12th day. For energy demand, the embryo primarily relied on protein sourced from the egg yolk within the first 10 days of development. Afterward, the egg yolk provided both protein and fat for embryonic growth. In summary, this study has generated a comprehensive developmental map for Shitou goose embryos, offering valuable insights into their growth and morphological changes throughout the incubation period. This map can serve as a reference for optimizing machine incubation techniques to enhance goose egg hatching rates and provide fresh perspectives on the development of geese.

An accurate gravity field model of Deimos can provide constraints for its internal structure modeling, and offer evidence for explaining scientific issues such as the origin of Mars and its moons, and the evolution of the Solar System. The Japanese Martian Moon Exploration (MMX) mission will be launched in the coming years, with a plan to reach Martian orbit after 1 year. However, there is a lack of executed missions targeting Deimos and research on high-precision gravity field of Deimos at this stage. In this study, a 20th-degree gravity field model of Deimos was constructed by scaling the gravity field coefficients of Phobos and combining them with an existing low-degree gravity field model of Deimos. Using simulated ground tracking data generated by three stations of the Chinese Deep Space Network, we simulate precise tracking of a spacecraft in both flyby and orbiting scenarios around Deimos, and the gravity field coefficients of Deimos have been concurrently computed. Comparative experiments have been conducted to explore factors affecting the solution, indicating that the spacecraft’s orbital altitude, the noise level of observation data, and the ephemeris error of Deimos have a significant impact on the solution results. The results of this study can provide references for planning and implementation of missions targeting Martian moons.

Abstract Background Smoke exposure is a prevalent and well-documented risk factor for various diseases across different organ systems. Serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) has emerged as a promising biomarker for a multitude of nervous system disorders. However, there is a notable paucity of research exploring the associations between smoke exposure and sNfL levels. Methods We conducted a comprehensive analysis of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) cross-sectional data spanning the years 2013 to 2014. Serum cotinine levels were classified into the following three groups: < 0.05, 0.05–2.99, and ≥ 3 ng/ml. Multiple linear regression models were employed to assess the relationships between serum cotinine levels and sNfL levels. Additionally, we utilized restricted cubic spline analyses to elucidate the potential nonlinear relationship between serum cotinine and sNfL levels. Results A total of 2053 participants were included in our present research. Among these individuals, the mean age was 47.04 ± 15.32 years, and males accounted for 48.2% of the total study population. After adjusting the full model, serum cotinine was positively correlated with sNfl in the second group (β = 0.08, 95%CI 0.01–0.15) and in the highest concentration of serum cotinine (β = 0.10, 95%CI 0.01–0.19) compared to the group with the lowest serum cotinine concentrations. Current smokers, in comparison to non-smokers, exhibited a trend toward elevated sNfL levels (β = 0.07, 95%CI 0.01–0.13). Furthermore, subgroup analyses revealed interactions between serum cotinine levels and different age groups (P for interaction = 0.001) and gender stratification (P for interaction = 0.015) on sNfL levels. Conclusion The study suggested that serum cotinine was significantly and positively associated with sNfl levels in adult participants. Furthermore, current smokers tend to exhibit elevated sNfL levels. This research sheds light on the potential implications of smoke exposure on neurological function impairment and underscores the importance of further exploration in this area.

BackgroundPrevious research has indicated the potential involvement of the microbiota in smoking-related processes. The present study seeks to examine the relationship between dietary live microbes, as well as probiotic or prebiotic consumption, and serum cotinine levels.MethodsThis study used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999–2018. Dietary intake information and probiotic/prebiotic intake data was collected through self-reported questionnaires. Participants were stratified into low, medium, and high intake groups according to their consumption of foods with varying microbial content. Multiple linear models were applied to explore the relationships of dietary live microbes, probiotic or prebiotic use with the serum cotinine level.ResultsA total of 42,000 eligible participants were included in the final analysis. The weighted median serum cotinine level was 0.05 (0.01, 10.90) ng/ml. Participants with low, medium, and high dietary microbe intake represented 35.4, 43.6, and 21.0% of the cohort, respectively. Furthermore, participants were stratified into three groups based on their overall consumption of foods with variable microbe contents. The association between dietary live microbe intake and serum cotinine levels remained robust across all models, with medium intake as the reference (Model 2: β = −0.14, 95% CI: −0.20, −0.07; High: β = −0.31, 95% CI: −0.39, −0.22). Moreover, both prebiotic and probiotic use exhibited an inverse relationship with serum cotinine levels (Prebiotic: β = −0.19, 95% CI: −0.37, −0.01; Probiotic: β = −0.47, 95% CI: −0.64, −0.30). Subgroup analyses revealed no discernible interactions between dietary live microbe, prebiotic, probiotic use, and serum cotinine levels.ConclusionOur findings suggest a negative correlation between dietary live microbe intake, as well as non-dietary prebiotic/probiotic consumption, and serum cotinine levels.

Abstract Acute pulmonary embolism (APE) is a potentially fatal disease. Early risk stratification is essential to determining appropriate treatment. We aimed to investigate the predictive value of the Naples Prognostic Score (NPS) for 30-day all-cause mortality in patients with APE. In this retrospective analysis, 325 hospitalized patients with APE were divided into Groups 0 (n = 131), 1 (n = 153), and 2 (n = 41) according to the NPS. The primary outcome event was all-cause mortality during 30 days of follow-up from the day of admission. The correlation between NPS, clinical features, and outcomes in each group was evaluated. The patients were divided into two groups, survivor (n = 294) and nonsurvivor (n = 31), according to their prognosis. The results of the comparison between the three NPS groups revealed that patients with older age, faster heart rate, lower systolic blood pressure, low albumin and total cholesterol levels, high neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), low lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), right heart dilatation, heart failure, malignancy, and lower extremity venous thrombosis had significantly higher 30-day all-cause mortality (P

Abstract Background Licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch.), a well-known traditional medicine, is traditionally used for the treatment of respiratory disorders, such as cough, sore throat, asthma and bronchitis. We aim to investigate the effects of liquiritin (LQ), the main bioactive compound in licorice against acute lung injury (ALI) and explore the potential mechanism. Methods Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was used to induce inflammation in RAW264.7 cells and zebrafish. Intratracheal instillation of 3 mg/kg of LPS was used for induction an ALI mice model. The concentrations of IL-6 and TNF-α were tested using the enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Western blot analysis was used to detect the expression of JNK/Nur77/c-Jun related proteins. Protein levels in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was measured by BCA protein assay. The effect of JNK on Nur77 transcriptional activity was determined by luciferase reporter assay, while electrophoretic mobility shift assay was used to examine the c-Jun DNA binding activity. Results LQ has significant anti-inflammatory effects in zebrafish and RAW264.7 cells. LQ inhibited the expression levels of p-JNK (Thr183/Tyr185), p-Nur77 (Ser351) and p-c-Jun (Ser63), while elevated the Nur77 expression level. Inhibition of JNK by a specific inhibitor or small interfering RNA enhanced the regulatory effect of LQ on Nur77/c-Jun, while JNK agonist abrogated LQ-mediated effects. Moreover, Nur77-luciferase reporter activity was suppressed after JNK overexpression. The effects of LQ on the expression level of c-Jun and the binding activity of c-Jun with DNA were attenuated after Nur77 siRNA treatment. LQ significantly ameliorated LPS-induced ALI with the reduction of lung water content and BALF protein content, the downregulation of TNF-α and IL-6 levels in lung BALF and the suppression of JNK/Nur77/c-Jun signaling, which can be reversed by a specific JNK agonist. Conclusion Our results indicated that LQ exerts significant protective effects against LPS-induced inflammation both in vivo and in vitro via suppressing the activation of JNK, and consequently inhibiting the Nur77/c-Jun signaling pathway. Our study suggests that LQ may be a potential therapeutic candidate for ALI and inflammatory disorders.

Objective: This study was to evaluate the prognostic value of the Naples prognostic score (NPS) in adult patients with asthma. Methods: Data on 44 601 participants from the 1999–2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) were analyzed. The NPS was calculated based on serum albumin, total cholesterol, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and participants were divided into 3 groups. Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect information on asthma, and mortality was identified using the National Death Index through December 31, 2019. Multiple logistic regressions were used to analyze the relationship between NPS and its components and the prevalence of asthma. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, Cox proportional regressions, and the random survival forest (RSF) were used to assess the significance of NPS and its components in predicting all-cause and cause-specific (cardiovascular, cancer, and respiratory diseases) mortality in asthma patients. Results: The mean age of the participants was 47.59 ± 0.18 years, and 48.47% were male. The prevalence of asthma was 13.11%. The participants were categorized into 3 groups: 8306 (18.6%) participants were in group 0 (NPS 0), 30 842 (69.2%) were in group 1 (NPS 1 or 2), and 5453 (11.2%) were in group 2 (NPS 3 or 4). Compared to the reference group, participants in group 2 had a higher prevalence of asthma (odds ratio [OR] = 1.40 [1.24–1.56]). Participants with asthma in group 2 had a significantly increased risk of all-cause mortality (hazard ratio [HR] = 2.42 [1.67–3.50]), cardiovascular mortality (HR = 2.68 [1.50–4.79]), cancer mortality (HR = 2.10 [1.00–4.45]), and respiratory disease mortality (HR = 3.00 [1.18–7.65]) compared to those with asthma in group 0. The RSF showed that NPS had the highest value in predicting all-cause mortality in adults with asthma, compared to its components. Conclusions: The results of this study indicate that the NPS is a powerful prognostic indicator for outcomes in asthma patients.

ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to investigate the potential association between dietary fiber intakes and the prevalence of chronic inflammatory airway diseases (CIAD), as well as mortality in participants with CIAD.MethodsData was collected from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2013–2018, with dietary fiber intakes being calculated as the average of two 24-h dietary reviews and divided into four groups. CIAD included self-reported asthma, chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Through December 31, 2019, mortality was identified from the National Death Index. In cross-sectional studies, multiple logistic regressions were used to assess dietary fiber intakes associated with the prevalence of total and specific CIAD. Dose–response relationships were tested using restricted cubic spline regression. In prospective cohort studies, cumulative survival rates were calculated using the Kaplan–Meier method and compared using log-rank tests. Multiple COX regressions were used to assess dietary fiber intakes associated with mortality in participants with CIAD.ResultsA total of 12,276 adults were included in this analysis. The participants had a mean age of 50.70 ± 17.4 years and was 47.2% male. The prevalence of CIAD, asthma, chronic bronchitis, and COPD were 20.1, 15.2, 6.3, and 4.2%, respectively. The median daily consumption of dietary fiber was 15.1 [IQR 10.5, 21.1] g. After adjusting for all confounding factors, linear and negative associations were observed between dietary fiber intakes and the prevalence of total CIAD (OR = 0.68 [0.58–0.80]), asthma (OR = 0.71 [0.60–0.85]), chronic bronchitis (OR = 0.57 [0.43–0.74]) and COPD (OR = 0.51 [0.34–0.74]). In addition, the fourth quartile of dietary fiber intake levels remained significantly associated with a decreased risk of all-cause mortality (HR = 0.47 [0.26–0.83]) compared to the first quartile.ConclusionDietary fiber intakes were found to be correlated with the prevalence of CIAD, and higher dietary fiber intakes were associated with a reduced mortality in participants with CIAD.

Introduction This study aimed to explore the efficacy of abrupt and gradual smoking cessation with pre-cessation varenicline therapy. Methods A total of 278 smokers who experienced moderate-to-severe nicotine dependence and visited a Chinese smoking cessation outpatient clinic from March 2017 to February 2021 were enrolled. This was a retrospective, observational, cohort study. Participants were divided into two groups by the cessation strategy they received: the abrupt cessation group (n=139, tobacco was not controlled during the first 3 weeks before the target cessation date and smoking was entirely discontinued on the 22nd day) and the gradual cessation group (n=139, tobacco was gradually reduced in the first 3 weeks before the target cessation date and smoking was discontinued on the 22nd day). The abstinence rates were compared between groups (7-day point prevalence abstinence rates at 1, 3 and 6 months post-treatment; and 1-month and 3-month continuous abstinence rates of 6-month follow-up). Possible factors that influence efficacy, reasons for smoking cessation failure, and associated adverse events were also analyzed. Results No significant difference in the 7-day point prevalence abstinence rates at 1, 3 and 6 months post-treatment was observed between the groups (p>0.05). The 1-month continuous abstinence rate of the gradual cessation group was higher than that of the abrupt cessation group (51.1% vs 31.7%; χ 2 =10.812, p=0.001). The 3-month continuous abstinence rate of the gradual cessation group was also higher than that of the abrupt cessation group (42.4% vs 27.3%; χ 2 =6.983, p=0.008). Abrupt cessation was a risk factor for successful smoking cessation than gradual cessation (AOR=2.39; 95% CI: 1.15–3.85, p=0.013),the motivation of ‘prevention and treatment of own diseases’ reduced the risk of incomplete abstinence (AOR=0.87; 95% CI: 0.38–0.99, p=0.049). The incidence of adverse events was higher in the abrupt cessation group than in the gradual cessation group. The incidence rates of nausea and insomnia were statistically significant differences. Conclusions Compared with abrupt cessation, gradual smoking cessation with pre-cessation varenicline therapy produced higher abstinence rates and relatively milder withdrawal symptoms.

Cotinine, the primary metabolite of nicotine, can be utilized as a marker for active smoking and as an indicator of exposure to secondhand smoke. However, the direct relationship between dietary flavonoid intake and serum cotinine levels remains a subject of ongoing investigation. In this study, we utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2007–2010 and 2017–2018 to assess the association between dietary flavonoid intake and serum cotinine levels in adults through multiple linear regression analysis. A weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression model was used to assess the association of the mixture of six dietary flavonoids with serum cotinine levels in adults, which could represent the overall effect of the mixture of six dietary flavonoids. We also conducted stratified analyses by smoke status to explore multiple linear regression associations between different flavonoid intake and serum cotinine levels. A total of 14,962 adults were included in the study. Compared to the group with the lowest dietary flavonoid intake, total flavonoid intake in the second (β = −0.29 [−0.44, −0.14]), third (β = −0.41 [−0.58, −0.24]), and highest groups (β = −0.32 [−0.49, −0.16]) was inversely related to the levels of serum cotinine after adjusting the full model. An RCS model showed that when the total dietary flavonoid intake was less than 99.61 mg/day, there was a negative linear association between dietary flavonoid intake and the serum cotinine. Introduction The study aimed to establish and internally validate a nomogram to predict successful smoking cessation in a Chinese outpatient population. Methods A total of 278 participants were included, and data were collected from March 2016 to December 2018. Predictors for successful smoking cessation were evaluated by 3-month sustained abstinence rates. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression was used to select variables for the model to predict successful smoking cessation, and multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to establish a novel predictive model. The discriminatory ability, calibration, and clinical usefulness of the nomogram were determined by the concordance index (C-index), calibration plot, and decision curve analysis, respectively. Internal validation with bootstrapping was performed. Results The nomogram included living with a smoker or experiencing workplace smoking, number of outpatient department visits, reason for quitting tobacco, and varenicline use. The nomogram demonstrated valuable predictive performance, with a C-index of 0.816 and good calibration. A high C-index of 0.804 was reached with interval validation. Decision curve analysis revealed that the nomogram for predicting successful smoking cessation was clinically significant when intervention was conducted at a successful cessation of smoking possibility threshold of 19%. Conclusions This novel nomogram for successful smoking cessation can be conveniently used to predict successful cessation of smoking in outpatients.

Objective. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of the colloidal gold immunochromatography method in the detection of Cryptococcus antigen in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) for pulmonary cryptococcosis (PC) diagnosis. Methods. A total of 111 patients with clinically suspected PC who were finally diagnosed with nonhuman immunodeficiency virus infection and hospitalized in the Ningbo First Hospital from March 2017 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. All the confirmed cases were divided into two groups as follows: the PC group (33 cases) and the non-PC group (78 cases). All the patients were subjected to serum and BALF cryptococcal capsular polysaccharide antigen-lateral flow immunochromatographic assay (CrAg-LFA) and etiological culturing. Results. In the PC group, serum CrAg-LFA was positive for 24 and negative for 9 cases, serum Cryptococcus culture was positive for 1 and negative for 32 cases, BALF CrAg-LFA was positive for 31 and negative for 2 cases, and BALF Cryptococcus culture was positive for 9 and negative for 24 cases. In the non-PC group, serum CrAg-LFA was positive for 1 and negative for 77 cases, serum culture was negative in all the cases, and both BALF CrAg-LFA and culture were negative in all the cases. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of BALF CrAg-LFA for PC diagnosis were 93.9%, 100%, and 98.2%, respectively, whereas those of BALF culture were 27.3%, 100%, and 78.4%, respectively. Although alectinib is a well-tolerated and highly effective inhibitor of a second-generation anaplastic lymphoma kinase, special attention should be paid to the possibility of potentially severe and fatal adverse events such as interstitial pneumonia. We report a case of a patient with advanced non-small cell lung cancer treated with alectinib who developed immunohistochemically positive anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK(IHC +)) . However, due to the rapid emergence of drug-induced interstitial lung disease, alectinib treatment was halted. Once the interstitial lung disease had been successfully treated, we reluctantly chose crizotinib as a second-line treatment for ALK + NSCLC in this patient as he refused all other available treatments. Contrary to expectation, crizotinib performed well both in terms of its safety and efficacy. Our results suggest that crizotinib may provide a promising therapy option for patients with ALK + NSCLC accompanied by alectinib-induced interstitial lung disease. To our knowledge, this is a rare report of successful treatment of ALK + NSCLC with crizotinib after alectinib-induced interstitial lung disease.

This study was the first to investigate the synthesis of near-infrared light-sensitive NO prodrug [Mn(PaPy2Q)(NO)]ClO4, and detection the amount of NO released by the drug in different time and near infrared light (10 mW, 20 mW). It showed that with the increase of light power, the time required for the drug to release NO was shortened, and we selected 20 mW, 10 min as a follow-up study of light power and irradiation time while ensuring the near-infrared light did not affect tumor cells. The cells were irradiated with 20 mW of near-infrared light for 10 min at 6 h after treatment with the drug on PC-3, LNCaP and 22RV1 cells, and NO concentration and cell survival rate were tested at 12 h, 24 h and 48 h. Experiments showed that NO concentration remained stable within 48 h and [Mn(PaPy2Q)(NO)]ClO4 inhibited the proliferation of cells in a concentration and time-dependent manner. Then we also found that [Mn(PaPy2Q)(NO)]ClO4 increased the expression of apoptosis-related proteins (PARP, Bax, Caspase 3/9), inhibited the expression of BCl-2 and increased the activity level of Caspase 3/7, which showed [Mn(PaPy2Q)(NO)]ClO4 promoted prostate cancer cells apoptosis. Next, the results in xenograft mouse model showed that [Mn(PaPy2Q)(NO)]ClO4 also had anti-prostate cancer effects in vivo, and the NO concentration increased in the tumor after near-infrared light irradiation. After [Mn(PaPy2Q)(NO)]ClO4 treatment 6 weeks, tumor volume was significantly reduced, Ki67 and BrdU protein expression was significantly reduced. TUNEL assay results showed that [Mn(PaPy2Q)(NO)]ClO4 could promote the apoptosis of solid tumors in vivo and in a concentration-dependent manner.

We herein present a rare case of breast fibromatosis, the contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) findings of which we believe have never been described. The high similarity between the clinical and imaging manifestations of breast cancer makes its differential diagnosis difficult. In this report, we describe the CEUS findings of a less common type of fibromatosis, discuss the potential value of CEUS to differentiate it from malignant breast lesions, and briefly review the literature.

Abstract China's lunar exploration program has developed and progressed for more than 13 years. Over this time, Precise Orbit Determination (POD) has guaranteed successful execution of the Chang’e missions, and is the basis for further scientific investigations using radio science data; for example, recovering the lunar gravity field to explore the inner structure and detect craters to study the evolutionary history of the moon. This study briefly reviews the Chang’e series mission orbit and radio tracking measurements. We reprocessed the tracking data and comprehensively summarized the evolution of the POD accuracy and the tracking system precision from the Chang’e 1 to Chang’e 4 missions using in‐house software. Our results show a progression of the tracking station, as the first Chang’e 1 mission only reached several millimeters per second level accuracy in the Doppler measurements and several meters level accuracy for the two‐way range measurements. Later on the accuracy of Chang’e 5T1 Doppler measurements reached about 0.35 mm/s and the accuracy of the Chang’e 3 two‐way range measurements below 0.7 m. Moreover, the newest Chang’e 4 relay satellite achieved POD residuals Root Mean Square for the two‐way range less than a meter and orbital accuracy at 200 m level, in contrast to meters level residual and the half‐kilometer level accuracy achieved during the Chang’e 1 mission. We can clearly see that the POD performance of the Chang’e spacecraft continuously improved. This research study is a reference for future Chinese Lunar exploration missions, as well as Chinese Mars and asteroid explorations.

Pulmonary lymphatic epithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) is a rare and unique subtype, accounting for 0.9% of all lung cancers. To date, just over 200 cases have been reported worldwide. The Epstein–Barr virus plays a role in the pathogenesis of LELC. Most patients are from East Asia, especially southeastern China. Chest computed tomography mainly shows a single lump or nodule around the lung. In this article, we report a 49-year-old male patient from a non-epidemic area who was hospitalized for “intermittent blood in his phlegm for more than 4 months”. Imaging revealed two nodules in the left lower lobe of his lung. Transbronchial lung biopsy was performed on one of the nodules, and he was diagnosed with primary LELC. Single-photon emission computed tomography revealed that he had hypertrophic pulmonary osteoarthropathy, which is a rare symptom of paraneoplastic syndrome. Because the preoperative evaluation considered early-stage disease, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for the left lower lobe and mediastinal lymph node dissection were performed. Both lesions were eventually diagnosed as LELC. Fortunately, lymph node metastasis did not occur, and he did not receive other postoperative treatments. He was followed up for 1 year, and no recurrence was found.

The tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) skin hydrolysate was produced by thermal or enzymatic hydrolysis processes. Several product characteristics were studied such as the average molecular weight, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical-scavenging activity, yield, and protein content, in order to compare thermal hydrolysis and enzymatic proteolysis processes for the hydrolysed tilapia skin collagen production. The effects of the following hydrolysis parameters (retorting time and pH, protease combination, and proteolysis time) were studied. Compared with the thermal hydrolysis process, the enzymatic proteolysis process needed less time and milder conditions, under which hydrolysates could be obtained as low molecular weight antioxidant peptides.
